#welcome to another episode of Luke is insane abt hockey boy!#this time featuring a guy who is actually this time almost (ALMOST) confirmed to be queer #the almost is partly me being insane because I don’t trust anything anymore #but like. there are only so many reasons you wear pride converse. that is not ally behaviour #it just threw me this time I think bc I’d been like no. heterosexual. bc I think I became aware of him when he joined the real hockey team #because the OTHER problem is that the whole time I’d been thinking he was cute as hell (bc he is) and simultaneously being like no. bad.#anyway this meant that I have actually talked to him a bunch without overthinking it this term which honestly has been very cool #not like a whole lot but we’ve played together a decent amount and hopefully will keep doing that #and yesterday discovered hes recommending other people talk to me abt goalieing which is insane to me bc I am truly not that good #but apparently I made an impression!#anyway it does not help that this guy has gotten incredibly good at hockey in the past few months #idk man I make bad decisions (I say as if this was a decision) bc it is now the end of term once again <3 #which means absolutely nothing can or will happen until after summer. which isn’t an issue #I’m just frustrated by my tendency to realise these things right before I’m about to not see the guy for X period of time #I also desperately need to stop crushing on hockey boys I swear but in my defence that is the main way I meet people #I think I’m cursed actually. that would explain many things #anyway he also has exams until next Tuesday which means he’ll be at hockey next week but idk abt this week which is devastating #i just wanna have talk to the guy more honestly to see how that goes bc we’ve not rlly talked individually for an extended time yknow.#in other words we have not had A Conversation it’s been groups or like quicker exchanges #he’s kinda quiet but i can’t quite tell which way yknow. Chapter Four - Named For The Stars

“I would have to be dead, because I won’t ever tire of you.” It was a clear attempt at flirting, at distracting Sirius with an overly saccharine comment, and Sirius usually loved to be on the receiving end of this side of Moony, a side he saw relatively infrequently. But just then, it felt patronizing and fake.

“Oh, no?” Sirius scoffed. “Certainly felt like you grew tired of me the last time we were together.”

Sirius’ argument was met with an immediate huff from Remus’ lips, though Sirius couldn’t determine if it was born of annoyance or of pain. “Is that what you think?” Remus asked, and from his softened tone of voice, Sirius wondered if he’d made a mistake. In the very next instant, a furrow moved through Remus’ brow and Sirius reevaluated again. “Do you really believe that I had you pinned down, with no other motive but to touch you, and that all of this occurred because I was … tired of you?”

“I begged you to kiss me, Moony, and you left me there.”

“Because I am terrified of you!” Remus shouted, disrupted by a cry of pain as he doubled over to clutch at his battered ribs. Shocked and still, Sirius didn’t know whether to move forward or stay away.

In a quiet, troubled voice, Sirius repeated the damaging statement. “You’re … terrified of me?”

Pokemon AlteRed With Gun is um. Really good so far?

The last time i tried AlteRed was a couple years back and the sprites were...pretty bad. Evidently the team refined a lot of their ideas and made some genuinely excellent pokemon in the end.

Here. Just one example.

This is Zigzagrub. It's a bug/electric retype of Zigzagoon. It has some fun ideas, and the core color palette is pretty good, but the shading is off and the freehand spritework is less than stellar. It's pretty average as far as rom hack spriting goes. This is from the original AlteRed, it's what I encountered in version 10.2.

THIS is the modern Zigzagrub.

Holy SHIT what a pokemon! FosterZ and Chairry did this according to the doc and just look at that little guy! It's still recognizably a Zigzagoon retype, but it's also a firefly and those BLUES. I saw that and said "I NEED IT." This sprite is in AlteRed With Gun and i believe is also in the current version of the original AlteRed.

It shows an incredible improvement in the art department, and it gets me excited to find out what else they've done to the pokemon i know and love. AlteRed With Gun is sort of a difficulty hack, a companion to AlteRed they apparently released for April Fool's. As old school binary hacks they have their bugs, but come on. Go back and look at the Zigzagrub. That's a friend.

For me a rom hack lives and dies by the quality of its sprites and AlteRed is thriving. I'm personally extremely pleased with how it's developing, and I'm having enough fun with it in a casual playthrough i might even do a challenge run or two.

#idk i felt compelled to review this rom hack i started playing yesterday #its just fun and it has so many cool sprites #apparently one of the bugs is that all the in-game trade pokemon are in this weird state of like #both shiny and normal. they appear shiny and their battle intro includes the sparkles but their summary page is that of a normal pokemon #same sprite but no star no blue panel nothing. its super weird lmao #the one bug im actually a little miffed by is this one that affects Substitute.#not the move the pokemon. Substitute exists to give you exp but its also catchable albeit with a comically low catch rate.#i had an easier time catching byoxys #once you catch substitute though you will discover that it doesnt do anything you want it to #it acts as though you dont have enough gym badges for its level even when its level 4 and you are the ot #anyway i have three of them and two are shiny and i want to use them very badly so i hope this is a fixable issue and not like #a load bearing coconut where if you get rid of it the whole thing breaks

Every day I wake up and there are still new words to learn, this is fantastic, do you guys know about this? Is this allowed?

#Morgengrauen was a nice one yesterday #I mean it's very straightforward and basic but I like the idea of dawn being essentially the morning grey #Especially since that phrase sort of exists in English #Petillant is another favourite (I don't have accent marks on my keyboard so imagine a wee accent over the e)#Just because I like the way it looks and it's nice to have pretty words for the concept 'fizzy'#In English/Scots an ell is something I've been familiar with vaguely for a long time but I had to go look it up recently for size #And found out all sorts of things about its origin and the meaning of the word elbow and I suggest checking out its wikipedia page #I mean I love all the words I already know (well most of them; there are some I hate for both rational and irrational reasons)#And place names are something else that we could add to the mix they're fantastic #But among the many many new things to discover every day (new flowers; new feelings; new birds; new smells)#Words have to be a firm favourite and I sort of hadn't realised that that's something that is always going to happen #We don't stop learning words at a fixed point it's constant and shifting and delightful #Devouring the linguistic feast collectively assembled by our human ancestors of all nations and races

im gonna start going to therapy again

#i had a fight with my parents in which they discovered for the like hundredth time that i have depression and they were like #why dont u just talk about it normally ???? and first because no second because my mom gets mad at me for being depressed and third because #i already did so many times and every time it leads to nothing because they just dont care and forget about it within like two days #its been 10. TEN years of agonizing psychological hell and they still refuse to acknowledge that i am depressed #i mean i even changed like five therapists in the mean time… that should tell them something #but yea i think after when was said yesterday i will probably go back into therapy.. hopefully because my brain is going to some really #*what #upsetting places so i really need it
