i respect everyones choices in what they ship and what they dont ship (unless its ethically wrong) BUT i dont understand how people can just hate polyamorous ships..

what do you mean you ship person A x person B AND A x C AND B x C but you DONT ship A x B x C ???

"i just dont think realistically a polycule would last.." do you only ship things with the notion that theyll last forever ? what about relationships which shape each other and their views on love for the rest of their lives ?? relationships where theyre each others first heartbreak despite mutually deciding that it would be best for them to separate ??? where they set the standard for their future lovers ???? and they can have platonic love that lasts forever without creating an unhealthy ex lovers dynamic that messes up their future relationships ?????

but also, of course a polycule CAN last, especially if every pair involved works really well.. OPEN UR MINDS..

so interesting to me how many of my “he would not fucking do that” fic moments come from romance tropes executed in ways that don’t unpack power dynamics or agency etc but just have men be kind of controlling or denying of female partner’s agency. like no canonically he would not fucking do that, in this way. it’s why marriage of convenience or arranged marriage fics are either literary masterpieces or trashfires - how well can they actually unpack this dynamic? but in general with many things itsssss

#it just drives me batty how with kaz and cassian specifically there's this drive to like. taylor swift lyrics i luv u roses and petals #sentiments that are deeply Wrong to me mentally like nails scritching on my brain no #they're too... Nice. like cassian is the kindest biggest guy every but he is not nice #or even furthermore... the social or fic wish-fufillment idea of men is something based in aesthetics of idealised romance rather than #niceness itself? are these guys really actually nice at all?#and yet for all that for all the i love you moments or neatly wrapped up romance plots labelled fluff or whatever #there's often a removal of the issues of agency inherent in both these stories #to make cassian and kaz just really controlling of jyn and inej in ways that are so deeply wrong to me #we have the fluff but not the humanity in extremity or the attempts to negotiate a humanity and intimacy amidst horror #and also just the latent tracework of a lot of romance as something deeply conservative
