Dokis’ Love Languages

When I was thinking of the dokis’ love languages, I did a bit of research and realized that the 5 most popular love languages are all just perfect for what I hc the dokis, so:

Monika: Words of Affirmation. Not only is she the one who has the most ridiculous and over the top pet names for everyone, she deeply craves praise from her lovers and when she receives it she melts.

Sayori: Physical Touch. She is super buggy and loves just being in contact with her partners, it gives her a huge sense of comfort and love.

Natsuki: Receiving Gifts. Although she is pretty bad at receiving gifts, she really appreciates it as she kinda grew up not getting a lot of things, so every thing she gets or gives means the world to her.

Some extra facts!

- Her name

Tori stands for Vittoria. Why Vittoria? Because she is half-British and half-Italian (from her mother's side) 🤌. I chose the name because I like to think that her parents thought about  Queen Victoria of the United Kingdom and King Vittorio Emanuele II of Italy, both sovereigns by the time of Tori's birth.

- Why Turin?

Because well, it's my birthplace! Also, Turin is a special city: it has a lot of esoteric story. In a few words, this city joins London and San Francisco to create the triangle of Black Magic, but also the triangle of White Magic too with Lyon and Prague.

Future

- Spouse: Poppy Sweeting (she IS wife)

- Career: Auror and Natty is her partner, they're thick as thieves and menace to their superior

I think that Poppy's mission is still saving beasts from poachers, so I headcanon she is a sort of mix of Auror and magizoologist (guys, I have no idea about careers in wizard world lol)

- Residence: Hogsmeade (I headcanon that since she is a Keeper, she doesn't want to live far away from Hogwarts, I'm also too in love with Hogsmeade)

My personal headcanons with future wife Poppy 💛

- Even if they're in the same house and same bedroom, Poppy had never spoken to Tori before their first Beasts Class together because the last was often away and Poppy herself is a night owl, visiting Highwing or studying beasts, etc.

- Poppy was also sure that the new fifth year will become like her schoolmates. Because sure, why the new cool, brave student will be friend with Peculiar Poppy? But fortunately Tori is such a good egg, kneazles can confirm.

- Tori decided to kneel in front of the Graphorn (because we're not a monster, right?) following Poppy's example. It was Poppy that waited patiently for the mother dragon to take its egg back. It was Poppy that put down her wand when centaurs came to her. And of course, you should show respect to an Hippogriff before approaching.

That's why she chose to kneel. The Graphorn has fought well, it deserved respect.

- Poppy felt in love first. Tori felt harder.

- Poppy doesn't need protection but loves how protective Tori is.

- Their love language is physical touch. Every single one. Surprise hugs from behind? Lovely! Forehead kiss? Adorable! Cuddles in the vivarium with beasts? The best!

- Should I really say it? Poppy is an adorable little spoon and love to be wrapped in Tori's arms.

- I have a very sappy proposal headcanon.

Tori proposed to Poppy after a couple of months after graduation (lesbian couples move fast, okay?) and she decided to be extremely romantic.

She studied where and when to find Mooncalves' dance and saved the day on her calendar. When the day came, she took Poppy and flied on Highwing to the special place.

Poppy thought the surprise was the mooncalves' dance, instead she turned around and found Tori on her knees, with a ring in her hand. A very shining ring that a selvatic niffler has tried to steal before Poppy could say yes, jumping from a bush the moment the ring sparkled under the moonlight. The little beast had caused little chaos but fortunately they catched it before was too late. With the retrieved ring in one hand, and the beast thief in the other, Tori asked grinning "do you still want to marry meee?"

One of my favorite headcanons about Greed is that his philosopher's stone just acts like a battery that constantly outputs energy. Most of that energy is translated into body heat which means that he's always incredibly warm to the touch, though he doesn't notice it since his body has no need for regulating temperatures that aren't incredibly extreme. All of this means that during the winter the entire gang loves to cuddle up next to him like he's their personal space heater. And honestly, he really doesn't mind that

I wonder if I’m the only one who thinks that Portia’s route is a bit too… G-rated when it comes to romance?

But especially the second half of it. Most of the special choices consist of either simply goofing around or lore exploration, and while it’s cool, obviously, this is still a romance route, so there are certain expectations, and with the way it’s portrayed, MC and Portia may as well have been just friends here. Only about a half of all special choices (there’s 28 in total, I made a list) have any kind of physical intimacy, mostly in a form of fleeting kisses and hand-holding, and only three or four scenes in total contain more detailed kissing or making out descriptions.

What’s annoying is that every other route is much spicier in comparison. It also reminds me of a stereotype of “soft uwu lesbians”, whose love is always fluffy and pure, not tainted by any lust or complicated feelings. Thankfully, in “The Arcana” we also have Nadia, but still, why did they drop the ball on Portia?

And I mean, I like Portia’s route, it’s one of my favourites in the game, I like all this lore we were given, and I always believed that every romantic relationship needs friendship as a fundament, but…

I know I might sound like a crazy person or a pervert here, but it’s just frustrating.

The Snow White Prince || A Desire for Connection

Kumo has an extreme desire for connection. I think one of the things I need to explain about him that I have only touched on briefly from place to place is what Kumo's love languages are.

Kumo's most important love language to feel loved is physical contact. He has an extreme desire to be hugged, held, or for any form of soft affection coming his way. (With permission of course). The single most powerful thing you can do for Kumo as a show of care for him is hold his hand.

Kumo will melt if you hold his hand. He will silence mid sentence and just stand there with a dopey look on his face. He will smile at you. He will give you soft eyes. He might be blushing a little even but you won't see it behind the mask. If you want this Cloud to know you care about him. Hold that hand.

It's really just that simple.

This works for all forms of relationships for him. He also feels extremely cared for if you allow him to sleep next to you and/ or make contact when doing so. Cuddling up next to a loved one, friend, family or otherwise, was not seen as strange in Misterican culture and it was actually quite common place. Kumo has explained a few times in various asks that he slept next to his brother on occasion well into his teenage years.

He suffered from nightmares and having someone next to him was grounding so he would go crawling off to his brother for support. Let him fall asleep while holding your hand and you just skyrocketed onto the the positive side for his opinion of you. It's all in grounding, support and affection to him. A soft hand on his shoulder, a protective hand at his waist, hands in his during a dance, a leading hand to guide his, or a gentle hug. They all say I care about you to him.

Permission is key, of course. Kumo won't make contact without permission and he expects the same respect in kind. It also falls into the concept of how Mistericans expressed affection. They were very open about their love for one another, and they really didn't shun anyone for who they loved (as long as romantic partners were consenting adults).

Misterica was built on a society of medicine first and foremost but also one that celebrated and worshipped the arts, creativity and comradery. So for Kumo, such things are excessively important.

While Kumo, himself, is setting in the aroace category towards romantic relationships, he has an extreme desire for intimacy and I do not mean that in a lustful sense. I mean that in the sense of just building a connection between two people and expressing mutual love and concern for each other.

Kumo wants to be cared for. He wants to care in return. He has a desire to express his love to the people he wants to give it to and if he cannot then that sensation becomes suffocating to him. Kumo at his core is a bleeding heart. He could get drunk on the idea of love. He is in love with loving.

He severely believes in the idea and concept that Love can conqueror all and that there is nothing stronger than simply loving someone. So he wants to be affectionate with the people he loves and he wants them to be affectionate with him.

Mistericans express affection by rubbing their horns together / brushing their horns against their loved ones' faces, and this is an action Kumo reserves for only those who are the absolute closest to his heart. He holds some form of adoration for those he choses to brush his horns against. It's a personal thing and an intimate show of care between Mistericans.

Kumo is in love with the universe and in love with the idea that love is all he needs to protect and save. He just has an extreme desire to be loved as well, but he'll never say that to someone.
