#I know he’s still wanting to be the number 1 - but we also know deku becomes the worlds greatest

It probably won’t happen. But I’m watching season 5 at the moment and I’m his own way Bakugou is actually really good teaching the other students. And we already know he’s awesome at inspiring them. We also see how much he respects Aizawa, as well as how he has mellowed out a bit and changed how he approaches his goal.
I think it would be really cool if he actually ends up as a teacher at UA.

BnHA Volume 35 - A Brief Reaction Journey
hello! so as mentioned in my last post, I’ve started catching up with the BnHA manga again FINALLY after almost two years, and have made it through a fair number of chapters so far! and since I’m not sure how long it will take me to actually post the corresponding liveblogs, I figured I’d make a couple of posts in the meantime to sort of preview my reaction journey thus far with some good old-fashioned OUT-OF-CONTEXT BULLET POINTS taken from my ramblings. originally I was going to make a single post for all 25 chapters I’ve read so far (up to 367), but I quickly realized that was waaaaay too ambitious lol. so for now it’s just this one, and I’ll put up the vol. 36 post probably tomorrow afternoon.
spoiler warning: just fyi, this post will obviously feature spoilers for chapters 342-350*, BUT it will also include some stray spoilers from chapters 362 and 403 as well, so just a heads up for that if you aren’t fully caught up!
*chapters 340 and 341 are not included because I've already posted full reaction posts for each one here and here, respectively.
Chapter 342
Endeavor being taller than Jeanist just feels so WRONG to me regardless of whether or not it is factually accurate. does this mean All Might is also taller than Jeanist?? I don’t want to live in a world where Best Jeanist has secretly been a perfectly normal sized person this entire time. someone please lie to me and tell me that he is tall
many thanks to Kacchan for inserting this small bit of levity into this scene which was otherwise well on its way to sending me into a SPIRAL OF FEELINGS, and in fact still is whenever I look at that panel of Deku with Eri and Kouta, and also that GODDAMN HUG WHERE HE AND INKO ARE BOTH CLEARLY AND PAINFULLY AWARE THAT THEY MIGHT NEVER SEE EACH OTHER AGAIN, AND IN THAT MOMENT THEY’RE JUST TRYING TO HOLD THE OTHER AS TIGHTLY AS PHYSICALLY POSSIBLE, AND SHE’S PRAYING TO WHATEVER DEITY IS OUT THERE THAT HE’LL COME BACK SAFE AND WHOLE, AND HE’S PRAYING THAT HIS MOM WILL BE ALL RIGHT EVEN IF HE DOESN’T COME BACK, AND NOT ALLOWING HIMSELF TO THINK ABOUT HOW MUCH HE ALREADY MISSES HER, BECAUSE HE CAN’T THINK LIKE THAT ANY MORE, BECAUSE THIS BOY IS FULLY GROWN NOW BECAUSE HE HAD TO BE, BECAUSE HE HAD NO CHOICE, AND I’M BOTH SO PROUD AND SO FUCKING SAD ABOUT IT AND I JUST NEED A MINUTE HERE ACTUALLY, OKAY!! OR FIVE MINUTES!!
LMAO WHAT AN AUSPICIOUS AND NOT-AT-ALL OMINOUSLY FOREBODING NAME. “hmmm what should we name our new class 1-A fortress?” “hmm well I was thinking maybe Troy, after the legendary city with the famously impenetrable walls, which to the best of my knowledge were never breached, or at least that’s what I assume since I never finished reading The Iliad! :) :) :) ...wait, why are you all looking at me like that. they didn’t actually breach them, right? guys? what happened to Troy? GUYS?”
I’m actually so proud of Deku because he’s come such a long way from the days when the mere CONCEPT of even TALKING to a girl was enough to floor him lol. but also I’m legit cracking up at he way he tried to segue into random small talk in the middle of the goddamn apocalypse. gotta be smooth about it!! casual!! you can tell how casual they are because both of them are suddenly struck by the inexplicable urge to fuss with their hair!!
Horikoshi really said “FUCK YOUR SQUADS!! ...but if we had a Todosquad this is who would be in it I guess”
my god. between this and the OchaDeku conversation the villains truly do not stand a chance do they? and they don’t even know how screwed they are yet. REDEMPTION IS COMING!! IT’S KNOCKING ON THE DOOR, TRICK OR TREAT, Y’ALL READY FOR THIS
Chapter 343
so we’re opening with everyone’s favorite Guy With An Old Wad Of Chewing Gum For A Face, AFO!
did this son of a bitch kill Nao’s dad and steal his sexy lie-detector quirk??
sob AFO is all “can I have your son’s cell phone number please” and they’re all “SURE”
bonsoir little Yuuga
do. ...do you not actually know. was this meeting not prearranged. “why are you here Aoyama?” “why are you here, Deku?” truly, why are any of us here??
I’m sitting here trying to play the “guess which parts of this dialogue are real vs fake” game and coming up completely stumped on every single sentence
so Yuuga’s all “can you believe that even though the city of Musutafu is basically down to just U.A., a Dollar Tree, a couple of crumbling park benches, and one very determined Starbucks, we somehow still have functioning courts and lawyers?” I actually can’t believe that at all tbh. you’re telling me “it’s the fucking apocalypse” is still not a good enough excuse to get out of jury duty
damn, Aoyama out here with the trash talk and the ON YOUR LEFT?!
MONOMA??!?!?!?!
Chapter 344
“Eraser’s” plan, indeed. you dare say that right to Kaminari’s face
SHINSOU!!?!?!?!?!??!?!?!?!?!??!?!?
HEYA YOURSELF YOU HANDSOME KNAVE!! LOOK AT YOU!! fucking loving the costume my dude! pretty please tell us your hero name to go along with it. is it MindCraft. I think your hero name should be MindCraft. don’t look at me like that Shinsou we need more punny hero names in the world
“yes well you see, I couldn’t do it, so I learned how to do it.” great story Shinsou
the way he’s rubbing the back of his neck there. are we gonna get some real Monoma character development at long last. feels like it’s long overdue and I am thrilled. he’s such a great character and I feel like we’ve only barely scratched the surface of who he actually is as a person and as a hero
THE UNEXPECTED VLAD KING MENTORSHIP WITH THE ARM AROUND THE SHOULDERS?? he really needed that support. outwardly he’s always made a big show of wanting his turn in the spotlight and begrudging class A for stealing the scene at every turn. but how much of that is really just an act. some of it? most of it? maybe even close to all of it? because right now he suddenly seems so small and young here and really wishing he wasn’t in this unenviable position of being one of the many World’s Last Hopes who are all way too fucking young
did Mirko’s giant robot hand just grow into an EVEN GIANTER giant robot hand??
long beautiful flowing mermaid hair. sorry what was I saying I kind of spaced out there for a sec
YES, AFO, ALL OF THIS TO SPLIT YOU UP YOU STUPID MUSH HEAD. MAYBE IF YOU EVER ACTUALLY FINISHED A MANGA IN YOUR GODDAMN LIFE YOU’D KNOW HOW A FINAL BATTLE IS SUPPOSED TO BE CONSTRUCTED. YOU MOLDY AVOCADO
Chapter 345
“no you don’t understand, we have so many sixteen-year-olds whose coattails we’re all hanging onto. we have sixteen-year-olds who can take over people’s minds. sixteen-year-olds who can create portals to warp you halfway around the world in an instant. and let’s not forget the sixteen-year-olds who can act their damn asses off. we have the best sixteen-year-olds in the world. our sixteen-year-olds are so much better than yours you fucking losers”
Deku I swear. if I’m about to discover that the reason you weren’t there to stop Kacchan from being literally, actually, canonically murdered is because your distracted ass got yoinked into the void by some no-name villain chucklefuck, I’m gonna...
don’t listen to him Aoyama you were magnificent. you were my favorite in all of the stage plays
BUT IS PHASE TWO SUPPOSED TO INVOLVE DEKU IN ANY WAY THOUGH??? HELLO??? IS ANYONE LISTENING TO ME??? I’M FROM THE FUTURE AND THIS IS URGENT, PLEASE
“I fucked up Ochako, I fucked up so bad” omfg Deku
she doesn’t want to hurt you Deku she just wants to shower you in love. in her own special way. by stabbing you a lot
anyway have fun on this... tropical island??? I guess?? Kacchan will just have to hold down the fort in the meantime. which I’m sure will go absolutely fine
Chapter 346
“th-th-this is really bad, right?” yes Tamaki, yes it is. you’re stuck here on the Super Mega Ultra Radical Gnarly Cracked-Out Wonder Stage with Shigaraki Fucking Tomura and at least two of you are about to die and I’M NOT OKAY
so now we’re also getting this hilarious insight into the inner workings of the Mega Ultra Tremendous Stupendous Incredible Sky Coffin and it is truly, truly phenomenal
Horikoshi stop taking my sarcastic jibes and owning them completely challenge!! all the best sixteen-year-olds. all the finest greatest Hyper Ultra Sparkle Glimmer Wonder Battle Stages
this is genuinely one of the boldest lampshading efforts I have ever seen in fiction you guys
“yes, we acknowledge that this does indeed seem impossible to have pulled off, BUT have you considered that, fucking quirks though???? AND THAT THEY ARE, AS THE KIDS SAY, WILD??”
Chapter 347
lmao they’re shouting at Monoma accusingly and he’s all “I’M HAVEN’T BLINKED AT ALL YOU GUYS I DON’T KNOW WHAT TO TELL YOU”
don’t mind him, he’s just out here growing out his hideously malformed hands and fingers endlessly from every part of his body, normally, as one does. nothing quirk-related about it. anyone could do this if they simply exercise and maintain a balanced diet. this 100% is not a quirk y’all it’s just essential oils
SUDDEN MONOMA FEELS DELIVERED TO MY DOORSTEP???
awwww. the way he’s almost panicked, frantically wondering if he somehow fucked the quirk up and desperate for Aizawa to believe him that he’s trying his best. and Aizawa quick to reassure him. this kid is so desperate for approval. and unapologetically careening his way onto my top ten character list, welcome dear boy
so that’s that. see you in two years Deku. his last words spoken out loud to Kacchan were, and I quote, “wha --”
Aizawa is so hopelessly impossibly hot at all times and I don’t know how the universe can handle his existence. he’s even doing it without activating his quirk now. no ponytails or anything. just an eyepatch and a dream
don’t mind me, I’m just out here doing literal algebra to figure out how long it would take Deku to get back here if he traveled at the same speed as All Might did in chapter 90 (30 seconds per 5km, apparently). about 20 minutes, give or take. well shit. hopefully he’s a little faster than Kamino-era All Might was, especially since he can fly and has that Fa Jin shit too. or maybe Rody can fly him lmao. or S&S’s hot fighter pilot boyfriend
“what’d Sensei say, Deku?” “he said no, looks like I gotta uber. can I borrow your credit card, I promise I will venmo you back”
unfortunately for Deku he does not realize he’s accidentally gotten himself caught up in what will undoubtedly end up being the most erotic and bisexual of the various final battles
can’t believe Deku has like 6 love interests and out of all of them, Toga is the first one who actually asks him out. good for you girl. gotta shoot your shot
Chapter 348
FELLAS IS IT GAY TO BREAK OUT INTO TERRIFIED BEN DAY DOTS BECAUSE A GIRL EXPRESSED HER CARNAL INTEREST IN YOU????
anyway so since Deku apparently doesn’t understand how romance works either, he’s trying his best to give an actual response by recontextualizing all of this in terms of the one big thing he does understand: All Might
you’re telling me you never wanted to stab All Might to death and then turn into him?? wow I just can’t believe it
but also... okay lol. so I was thinking about this sarcastically, but was then struck by the very unironic thought that there sorta kinda is someone whom Deku does, both consciously and subconsciously, try to be like, and who he also kinda does apparently share the same heart and mind as. at least if chapter 403 is anything to go by lol. soooooooo. huh
god damn it Toga. absolutely none of what you’ve said or done here has been even the SLIGHTEST BIT reasonable. you can’t just tell someone you want to stab them and be their girlfriend. and if and when they try to let you down easy by responding with the MOST THOUGHTFUL AND GENTLE REJECTION ANYONE COULD EVER POSSIBLY MAKE UNDER THESE CIRCUMSTANCES, because they’re actually the WORLD’S NICEST MAN, you can’t just respond by doing whatever it is you’re presumably about to do, which I’m guessing is gonna be really violent and unhinged
so Ochako is all “ever since we fought last time I’ve been thinking about you a lot!” and Toga is all “are you serious, YOU broke up with ME bitch” and now she’s standing behind her with a knife
“she’s the least predictable of our opponents” YEAH NO KIDDING LOL
“everyone knows that Toga is actually Ochako’s villain, like ffs Deku you haven’t even interacted with her since the Provisional Exam arc.” Deku they’re 100% right and you’re looking more and more the fool with each passing second
well all right lol. twenty minutes to get back to Musutafu. let’s just hope he doesn’t run into any traffic on the way
Chapter 349
what the fuck is OFA Dos’s quirk exactly and are we ever gonna get to it before I literally die of old age. at this point there’s gotta be a reason why he’s not using it, right?? so what’s the deal there? does he still somehow not know how? is it too dangerous? and I really need to know why II has the Bakugou gauntlets. tell me this isn’t one of the things we’re still waiting on answers for two years down the line because I swear to god I will cry
anyway so Deku’s saying he’s doing his best but he’s still “too slow”. WELL THEN MAYBE IT’S THAT TIME?? DEKU?? WHAT DO YOU SAY
NO FUCKING WAY LOL, CAN IT REALLY BE THAT EASY??!
OH WHAT THE FUCK, FUCK YOU NOT!CCHAN LOL YOU’RE JUST HERE TO COCKBLOCK HIM?
fuck. so has he used it since then?? is he gonna use it finally now that Kacchan’s alive and well again?? oh my god I need to shut up and stop asking questions and just keep reading. fuck
wow so Dabi’s literally just burning the All Might statue while he stalls for time trying to figure out how to beat his OP little brother who was literally engineered to be better than him sob. out of all the villains he’s probably the most screwed right now isn’t he
starting to get an inkling Dabi’s not happy that he doesn’t actually get to fight Endeavor. getting some subtle hints here and there that he might actually be upset about that
apparently wanting to fight Dabi and stop him from helping to destroy the world makes Shouto a pawn. wake up Shouto. stop being such a sheep, Shouto. can’t you see that saving the world is exactly what Endeavor wants you to do???!
this is just going to be seventeen chapters of Dabi talking about nonsense while they both stand around progressively getting hotter both literally and metaphorically isn’t it
Chapter 350
OH SNAP. [SLAMS HAND ON TABLE] HERE WE GO. IT’S FINALLY THAT TIME
well, well, well. to the surprise of absolutely no one. the real one who was responsible for everything this whole time
but I just have to pause real quick before we continue. because it absolutely cannot be a coincidence that AFO just happened to be there once again. just waiting in the shadows to magically swoop in the minute disaster strikes. and so, just like with baby Tenko, this immediately makes me suspect that Touya burning himself alive was not in fact a training accident at all. which is something I did not expect, and which, just. fuck, fuck, FUCK AFO. fuck this guy.
looks like the children's ward of a hospital?? wait, what??
how the fuck is he still so adorable. when exactly did the transition take place between adorable and sexily unhinged. right now Todoroki Touya still looks to be the absolute most adorable child on the planet
I miscalculated. I was not emotionally prepared to handle this chapter right now. I should not have clicked
really love to see that Touya didn’t just cave right away. wouldn’t have felt right, ngl. just doesn’t fit in with what we know about his character
oh shit wait we’re cutting back to Dabi talking to Shouto and he says he did come back home??
fucking why. goddammit what the hell. why is this the saddest fucking thing I’ve ever read. LOVE HIM!! SOMEONE!! ANYONE!! just love him, please. literally all he has ever wanted!!
JESUS. I HATE THIS. I am so upset right now. out of all of the horrific and traumatic and terrible, awful things that have happened to BnHA characters in their flashbacks, the thing that hits me the most out of all of them is this one image of a sixteen-year-old boy standing before an altar, with his family very much alive and standing RIGHT FUCKING THERE IN THE NEXT ROOM, and yet somehow feeling more alone than he’s ever been. so alone he literally gives up all hope in this one moment. my god I feel all of it and it’s so fucking devastating I keep having to stop typing so I don’t completely break down sobbing
well damn. after a rush of 15 and 13-page chapters, which were all admittedly appreciated by me in my race to catch up to Light Fades to Rain before this coming Friday, Horikoshi finishes up the volume with one hell of a 17 page finale. once again the Tododrama delivers. this was fucking phenomenal

More then ready for Deku to "save" Shigaraki so they can beat AFO. Although I think AFO might swallow Shigaraki up again before that happens, that puts more on the line for Tomura. Deku will be that helping hand he always needed, maybe it happens right as he nearly loses that last tiny bit of self.
To me this seems more realistic then Deku fighting him while trying to talk him out of it. It's gonna take something major for Shigaraki to give up what kept him going all those years, the only purpose he has had. What he thinks is the only thing he can do. He may know AFO used him, and he'll yeah he's angry about it, but he won't just change all he's known because a hero decides he wants to help. Nevertheless, a hand will be extended to Tomura.
Please let him have the final blow to AFO cause he deserves it after everything he did to him. At one time I thought Shigaraki would be the final boss but that was wrong, hell Shigaraki even said it himself way back at the USJ attack "I'm not the final boss" which leads me to another thought.
How much longer does this manga have. I know awhile back Hori made a comment about wrapping up all other fights in one volume (12 or 13 chapters or so usually) and 399 should be the last chapter in what will be volume 39, and as we know All Might is still fighting AFO, it does look to be at its end. My guess is next chapter we finally cut back to Deku and Shigaraki.
So how long will their fight be. They need to have a epic fight and we know AFO will show up due to the ending of the current chapter. Then there will be that whole confrontation that needs to happen with Tomura and him and Deku helping Tomura and FINALLY ending AFO. Also Bakugo waking up and helping probably. Then the ending and Epilogue, let's say 2 or 3 chapters for that. And remember there will be breaks as well.
1 chap to end afo vs all might
3 chap for end + Epilogue
4-6 chap for Shigaraki vs Deku
? Dealing with afo
? Saving Shigaraki
? Defeat of afo
? Number of breaks

My Review of My Hero Academia
Tumblr media
Okay…okay…
It’s done. It’s taken me 10 whole years, but I finished Gintama. My long-running comedic/drama nightmare has come to an end until they decide to come out with another damn sequel. But for now, it is DONE. And now, I can finally sit down and make good on a promise I made with one of my best friends. I will now watch Hunter x Hunter.
Tumblr media
Huh?
No. I said Hunter x Hunter.
Tough shit, loser. You’re watching this shit!
Sorry, Marcus.
Yeah, My Hero Academia has been around for a couple of years now. It’ll emerge every couple of years in the anime world and the manga has been a massive hit. Not as big as Demon Slayer, but then again, no one can be as awesome as Demon Slayer. I had my chance to pick this series up, but I picked Black Clover instead. I made my decision and I stand by it. But once I noticed this series had several films and over 100 episodes to its name, I thought it be best to save this anime for after finishing my long-numbered series. Once I was able to get through Gintama, we can set this up.
Quirks or super powers are in about 80% of humanity. These quirks can vary from being super flashy, awesomely strong…or it could be like the Crest Man.
Tumblr media
I was going to make this joke one way or another.
(He’s living in his car)
Tumblr media
Many of these people decide to become heroes, especially those with potential. Now what about those 20% of humans that don’t have a quirk? Can they one day become a hero even though they have no power to their name? I guess we’ll find out with a young lad named Izuku Midoriya (or Deku). He has no quirk, no chance of developing one in his later years, and yet still wants to attend an academy that’s specifically for those with quirks.
Tumblr media
It wasn’t until he was given a chance by Japan’s #1 hero All Might who sees potential in the young Deku to pass down his powers to him. Due to an ugly fight a few years ago, All Might can only stay in hero form for 3 hours at the most a day. In the span of two episodes, Deku was able to go through 10 months of All Might’s training, inherit his power, and get accepted to UA, the academy for potential students with amazing quirks who want to become heroes. Let’s enter UA to meet all the special students and administration with amazing powers and see who’s going to be a smashing hero one day.
Tumblr media
Do keep in mind that I’m only summing up the first couple of episodes from the first season here. Each season has much more going on as Deku and his classmates learn what it means to become a great hero.
BETWEEN THE SUB AND THE DUB: You know, the five years of me not picking this anime up, I would take a look at these characters and say to myself, “Yeah, you’re totally voiced by this person”. Look at All Might, if that guy isn’t voiced by Chris Sabat this world doesn’t make sense. Oh look, it really is Chris Sabat! Hey, it’s a main girl and loved by majority of fans. Gotta be voiced by Luci Christian! It’s like I’m fucking psychic! Sexy big girl, gotta be Jamie Marchi! Wow! Strait-laced megane boy! My lady-loins are on fire so that could only mean a role by J. Michael Tatum. Okay, let me give it a try in the Japanese.
Screaming…
Tumblr media
Nobuhiko Okamoto! I only need the word “screaming”. I didn’t need to look at any character profiles to know this. Thank God Bakugo’s screaming didn’t get on my nerves the entire time. I sometimes have a problem with characters who scream so much that you just want to rip their mouths off their faces. Bakugo…he makes me laugh. He’s a tsundere with a short fuse, what’s not to like?!
As you can tell, I watched the majority of this series dubbed. The cast had a wide variety of seasoned veterans and modern favorite voice actors. Juli Erickson was also in the cast for a short time before retiring from voice acting. I’m glad I got to hear her one more time. There was another replacement in the dub. Alex Organ voiced Mr. Aizawa for the first season. After that however, Christopher Wehkamp took over and has remained since then. Scheduling conflicts, I suppose. I wasn’t even aware of the change until I read about it.
Oof. Both the sub and the dub have some great people behind these heroes and aspiring heroes. Let’s just say I give a gold star to everyone here. Even Tomokazu Seki was in this series as the spotted seal hero Selkie. Love it. Love everything about it! Here’s what you might recognize these folks from.

FAVORITE CHARACTER: I’ve gone through this over and over in my mind. There were a lot of characters I’ve grown to admire and ones I think are pretty nifty. I still can’t believe I was able to keep track of so many characters in this one series, but I think I did a pretty good job. Yes, I have a guilty pleasure for Bakugo. But that’s just it, he’s a guilty pleasure. I like him and am amused by him, but at the same time I can get annoyed with him. But if there was one character who I enjoyed the most out of all the characters that have appeared so far, it would be her.
Tumblr media
Tsuyu Asui (a.k.a. Froppy; Tsu)
I love Tsu. She’s best girl. And that’s all there is to it!
Tumblr media
DISLIKED CHARACTER: Ooh boy, you all knew I was going to discuss papa of the year over here! Long before I started this series, I was well aware of the existence of a shitty parent by the name of Endeavor. I thought if I sat through this long enough, I would switch my hatred from Endeavor to Overhaul. It didn’t happen. I’m still on this hate-train. Endeavor has had this unhealthy obsession and rivalry with All Might and wanting to surpass him. Thinking he could never reach that position of #1 hero, he stuck to the next generation by making it with another powerful quirk user and have babies.
Tumblr media
He had a total of four kids. One of his son’s is presumed dead due to trying to impress his father (wait until season six for the truth). One of his son’s hates Endeavor for what he’s done to the family. His daughter tries her best to keep things together, but you can tell she’s feeling uber stressed. And (Shoto) Todoroki still has daddy issues. I guess you can chalk all of this up to these kids upbringing. Todoroki witnessed his father’s physical abuse first-hand as he was rough with trainings. Not only that, but the abuse of his own wife that led to her mental breakdown giving Todoroki his trademark scar. And somehow Todoroki’s eldest had the worst of it all. All he wanted was his daddy’s approval and was just left for dead. Again, season six has the answers there. Bottom line, Endeavor was a very bad father. But, he is trying.
Tumblr media
You cannot expect your fully grown children to pretend that everything is okay now that you’re going to change and be father of the year. Natsuo was partially saved by his father and was unable to give him any satisfaction. And it seems like Todoroki is just using his father to further his quirk and can easily get into work study programs because of him. As for his wife, you know Rei may never forgive him for all that has happened to this family. That’s just my two cents on the matter. I think every one of the Todoroki’s might eventually forgive Endeavor…not the older two sons.
SHIPPING: Guys, seriously. There are more important things to discuss here than which characters should shack up. Japan has a severe problem with villains and these kids specifically signed up to be in an academy focused on serving the public as heroes.
Tumblr media
I support Uraraka x Deku
And aside from a few dropped hints by Uraraka, I seriously find no other ship that could…
Tumblr media
I also support Kirishima x Ashido
But aside from those two, this show is strictly about kids wanting to be heroes and let’s keep it that way.
Tumblr media
Mineta x his hand tonight
Yeah, I had to add that silly ship.
Tumblr media
ENDING TO SEASON ONE: It’s been well established since the beginning that All Might was one of the greatest heroes, if not THE greatest. A symbol of peace and justice! And now, he’s a teacher at UA. So, everyone pretty much wants a piece of him. During a field trip to a simulated area filled with terrains and weather patterns, Deku and his classmates were bombarded by villains. This is not a drill, these guys mean business and they also want All Might. While their teacher Mr. Aizawa was busy taking care of some of the bigger villains, the students were being separated so the enemies can learn about what quirks these kids have. Some of the more powerful classmates like Bakugo and Todoroki were able to get rid of their batch of baddies with little-to-no problem. Others, it was a little more challenging. Even Aizawa found himself in dire-straits. Meanwhile, where is All Might?
Tumblr media
We all know about All Might’s injury. It’s just that everyone else isn’t aware of it and All Might goes to great lengths to keep it a secret. Rightly so! If it’s learned by the wrong people that All Might has at most 3 hours a day in hero form, villains will swarm the area to cause havoc. Thankfully, dude shows up in the knick of time before these bad guys could do damage to Deku and the rest. Unfortunately, All Might already saved the day in another area and is at his max of what he’s capable of handling. Now these villains don’t know the specifics of All Might’s power, but someone controlling them from the shadows dropped hints about All Might being weaker than in his heyday.
Tumblr media
Bad guys Shigaraki, Nomu, and Kurogiri definitely put a dent in All Might, but All Might didn’t let up his bluff in front of the bad guys. But that steam coming from his body is not a good sign. And yeah, the only one who knows about All Might is Deku and Deku was worried about All Might dying on his feet or someone about to find out his big secret. Thankfully, Iida was able to escape and call for backup. The administration at UA came and they were able to put an end to the situation. It’s unknown how much extra damage was done to All Might and it seems like his time where he can spend in hero form has been cut drastically to only 90 minutes at the most. But for now, All Might and Deku can relax for a second knowing their actions saved a whole class of freshmen from being harmed or worse.
Now as for those bad guys like Shigaraki, who is filling his head with ideas that there might be something wrong with All Might? I guess that’s an answer to be filled in another season. Because now we’re about to head into a tournament arc!
Okay, good introduction to the students of UA. Get our feet wet with all the quirks the students have. Even though Deku isn’t a full zero to hero quite yet, he’s certainly one hell of a strategian when it comes to problem solving. And from here on out, the series gains more episodes. This season is the only one with 13 episodes. Every season from here on out will have 25. Just how many chapters are there for My Hero Academia?
SEASON TWO: One recap episode and one Anime Festa OVA later…
Tumblr media
The entire school is about to hold their annual sports festival. This sports festival is a big freakin’ deal. Hell, it’s even a bigger deal than the Olympics! Okay, I wouldn’t go that far. The students have opportunities of being discovered by a hero agency and might even become a sidekick for a famous hero. Other opportunities also include having kids from the lower-level classes get nudged up to a higher-level class. After the events of season one, Deku and the kids of class 1-A were getting a lot of fame and news coverage as the students who took out the league of villains that infiltrated a highly secured building of UA. As for the sports festival, Bakugo took home the gold.
Tumblr media
Pfft. Watching him bound and getting forced with the gold medal is truly a laughable moment.
Tumblr media
This season, we learn about what’s driving these students to excel at UA. Uraraka wants to earn money to help her struggling family. Todoroki wants to escape the grasp of his legendary father, the #2 hero Endeavor. Iida tries following in his big brother’s footsteps in a bit of revenge after someone injured him. And Deku wants to make a name for himself as All Might’s power has weakened significantly. Again, Deku’s the only one who knows.
Tumblr media
After the sports festival, the students end up as apprentices for either hero agencies or heroes themselves. This part of the story focuses on Deku learning to control his power and Iida finding the hero killer (Stain) who severely injured his older brother. Dealing with Stain was a very difficult task. Deku, along with Todoroki and Iida were all caught up in that fight. They beat the dude, but couldn’t get any credit due to bureaucratic issues with the police and certified heroes. As a repercussion, Iida ended up doing permanent damage to his hand and it might be the end of his career as a hero (unless the surgery is a miracle). They make this a big deal here, but I don’t recall hearing any more on that subject from season 3-6. Moving on!
Tumblr media
The end of this season consists of Deku learning the truth about his power One For All and the originator All For One. This guy is still out there, he’s a dick, and guess what, he’s the head of that league of villains that was behind the attack at the end of season one. Other than that, it’s exam time for class 1-A. Let’s have them fight against the teachers! Aside from two teams failing, everyone did pretty well considering they were up against UA’s greatest. And this was to be especially difficult for Deku as he had to be partnered with Bakugo and fight against All Might.
Tumblr media
The final episode consisted of Deku being cornered by Shigaraki. Yes, the guy behind the Nomus and the attack from season one’s finale. We finally see his face and we get a bit of foreshadowing of things to come from the League of Villains. The heinous group has recruited several new villains who we will see more of come season three. Speaking of…
Tumblr media
SEASON THREE: It’s time for summer training camp. And for funsies, let’s add class 1-B too. These kids will be pushed to their limits to enhance their quirks. Because while everyone has improved in other departments, their quirk powers haven’t moved much since the beginning of the semester! Gee, wouldn’t it suck if a bunch of villains come in and ruin everything? The League of Villains has arrived with new powerful members including Dabi and Toga. Their target this time is Bakugo! Their attack on the UA students kinda broke a lot of morale with not just the students, but the faculty as well. The end result was that many of the students and the faculty watching over them wound up injured and Bakugo was kidnapped.
Tumblr media
Saving face didn’t go as smoothly as anyone would hope. Deku got four of his classmates to defy orders to try and infiltrate the League of Villains to save Bakugo. At that very same time, several ranked heroes did their own rescue mission. It did not go well for either side! On the plus side, Deku and friends were able to save Bakugo without breaking the law by fighting crime without a license. But then All For One wrecked the whole place. He took out so many villains and heroes in his way. I think he might have killed one of them. Didn’t matter to him anyways because he was after All Might! This fight took everything from All Might.
Tumblr media
All For One exposed All Might to the entire world his ugly secret. Not only that, but dropped an unfortunate fact bomb involving All Might’s sensei and Shigaraki. And to top it all off, injured him so bad that All Might will never fight crime again. After all of that, the students of class 1-A were highly requested by the school to live in the school dorms from now on. Most parents agreed to it, though Deku’s mother was the most worried. Long story short, he’s living in the dorms now. Not before seeing this poor woman cry again.
Tumblr media
The next big arc after the fall of All Might was the provisional hero license exam. We meet a lot of brand-new soon-to-be heroes much like the students of UA from other schools across the land. The end result of that exam, everyone except two students from class 1-A got their provisional license. And surprisingly those two were Todoroki and Bakugo! Bakugo is so obvious that I don’t even need to waste the time explaining why he flunked. Todoroki on the other hand had someone from another school get under his skin with a comment likening him to his father Endeavor.
Tumblr media
While Bakugo was angry about not passing his provisional license exam, something else has been grinding his gears and for some time at that. Bakugo’s anger hits fever pitch when he confronts Deku alone after the exam about his relationship with All Might. And throwing punches! Despite that thick layer of anger he puts up, Bakugo is a sad boy who loves his favorite hero All Might. He was of course jealous that Deku got to be his protégé but guilty because Bakugo thought it was because of him being kidnapped that caused All Might to lose his powers permanently. All Might reassured the boys of everything. And then the boys were on lockdown for breaking curfew to fight. In the meantime, the League of Villains is still at it despite All For One being in a maximum security prison. Toga infiltrated the hero provisional license exam by posing as another student. Shigaraki is growing more menacing. And then there’s Overhaul…ooh boy, I can’t wait to talk about this guy in the following season.
Tumblr media
And class 1-A got to meet the top students of the third-year class (a.k.a. The Big Three). The strongest of the three (Mirio) wiped out the entire class by himself. Big difference between the power of the first years and this pant-less wonder!
Okay, this season had its ups and downs. But the ups were definitely worth it and we had a big payoff when it came to scenes involving All Might and All For One. Now let’s see what’s going on with that movie that came out around the same time.
Tumblr media
TWO HEROES: We got a glimpse of what to expect with this movie in an episode during the third season. Meaning, they gave us a filler in the middle of a tournament arc and are introduced to a movie character for five seconds. Let me guess how this movie goes; this in no way connects to any villain currently in the series, there is no character growth, serves no purpose to the main plot, and the new character introduced is the bad guy.
Most of what I said was pretty true! Deku gets invited by All Might to go with him to a special island that is full of people who manufacture AI technology. Most of the class ends up there under some special circumstances and yes, it’s just the popular ones fans like most. All Might’s friend from his younger days David wanted to help All Might regain his strength (he just doesn’t know the true story of why he’s losing his strength). And David ends up in cahoots with terrorists that took a whole island hostage. And these terrorists are also connected to All For One. Okay, I was wrong, All For One is somehow connected (or at least mentioned by the leader of the terrorists).
SEASON FOUR: So, it’s not just Bakugo that caught onto Deku and All Might’s relationship. It leaked to the press! One reporter knows there’s a protégé out there. And thankfully he has the right mind to shut up about it! Onto the main stuff! Deku and the rest of class-A are about to go through work study programs. And the League of Villains are ready for their next move. But right now, we gotta watch out for a lone Mafioso causing mischief.
Tumblr media
Deku winds up doing a work study with All Might’s previous side-kick Sir Nighteye. Several other characters like Kirishima, Tsu, and Uraraka also got a chance for a work study program. Deku unfortunately got a lot thrown at him in the drama department. He learned that Nighteye had a falling out with All Might due to the fatal injury All Might acquired and made worse once he decided to give Deku is One for All power.
Tumblr media
Next, all of these students I mentioned, plus their mentors, and the three 3rd years are all caught up trying to take down a lone Mafioso and some of the League of Villains in order to save one little girl. Overhaul was trying to use this young girl (Eri) and her power in order to suppress and end hero powers permanently. Eri has a quirk that can rewind a person’s body. But due to her age, she’s unable to control it properly and that has caused a lot of mental damage to her. Overhaul is quite the disgusting little shit abusing this poor girl. Thank goodness after this long, hard-fought battle, the heroes were able to prevail and save Eri.
But at what cost?
Tumblr media
Deku was able to survive with not so many injuries to his person. Some of the other heroes and classmates involved in the giant raid were not so lucky. Kirishima and Fat Gum sustained heavy injuries. Mirio’s power might have been altered permanently due to Overhaul and his gang having these serums that can erase quirks. And Eri (the girl they all saved) is forever haunted by the psychological horror she’s endured. But worst of all was Sir Nighteye. During the fight between the heroes and Overhaul, Nighteye literally got impaled and was at death’s door when All Might, Deku, and Mirio spoke to him. Up to this point, we really never saw death strike any of these characters. This was a heart tugger! Shit is getting real now for Deku. All I can say is…wait until season six. Meanwhile, Overhaul not only got his ass kicked by Deku, but was left powerless and crippled by Shigaraki.
Tumblr media
The last half of season four revolved around UA putting together a culture festival. This is both a wise and stupid decision. Wise because these students deserve a little fun after everything the students of UA (especially class 1-A) have gone through. Stupid because UA has been a giant target for villains since All Might became a teacher. And if one little thing happens with a villain coming near the area, the festival is going to be called off. At that exact same time, a new villain emerges and wants to break into the festival. Of course, he does!
Tumblr media
This guy is a tea-drinking gentleman with a side-kick I’m so not comfortable seeing together with him. I’m sorry, but this combination makes me feel a little ill inside and confused. Thankfully, Deku happened to be in the area and prevented the festival from getting shut down. Not only does he want to give his school this moment of peace, but because Eri is coming, he wants to make sure she has a great time. Thankfully, Deku was able to break through to this confused villain and he turns himself in with no more damage done. But most important for Deku, the festival went off perfectly. Class 1-A was commended for their performance on stage and Eri was able to smile and enjoy herself.
Tumblr media
We end the season off with some severe changes. First of all, Eri is going to attend UA. She’s stable enough to stay out of the psych ward and is all healed up. Deku and Mirio must protect this girl’s smile! And then my question was answered. I thought to myself, will there be another #1 hero now that All Might is retired? Yep, there’s a new top 10 and a new #1 with Endeavor taking the top spot. Will the world see him as the new symbol of peace? Endeavor is put to the test when he and #2 hero Hawkes got attacked by an overpowered Nomu. This was a tough fight as Endeavor was tossed around a lot. Thankfully, he won. He went beyond, PLUS ULTRA!
Tumblr media
Also, is anybody else thrown off by the Endeavor fanboy? It doesn’t help that he looks like Natsu from Fairy Tail, but did the English version REALLY have to get Haberkorn to play this guy too?
Tumblr media
HEROES RISING: In the second movie, it almost looked like we were getting some action between the UA students and the League of Villlains. In actuality, the villains of this movie get into an alliance with Shigaraki. These new villains end up attacking a lone island that Deku and his classmates just happen to be on as part of hero work. The villains want this one kid on the island because of this special quirk he possesses. We get some pretty primo fight scenes where Deku and Bakugo are actually working together to beat the villains. I’m going to be legit and ask, did anyone fall for that shit about Deku giving his One For All power to Bakugo? Yeah, me neither. There are two seasons after this movie. No way in hell Deku is losing his power this early in the game.
Tumblr media
SEASON FIVE: Endeavor’s fight with the superpowered Nomu came with a lot of baggage. His popularity as the new #1 hero is steadily rising. It’s just that people really saw him get his ass kicked pretty badly. And now, dude has a pretty gnarly scar on his face. Just like his son! I almost want to say something here, but…nah, bad taste. On top of that, Endeavor is now going to start acting like a real father instead of the bastard he’s been up to this point. Meanwhile, Deku has been getting visions during his sleep of the past One For All users and kinda using his power while sleeping. It got worse when his powers decided to go haywire during a class competition with class 1-B.
Tumblr media
I will say this. The stuff with Deku and controlling the powers of One For All was the only interesting part of the first part of season 5. I checked out when there were many episodes dedicated to class 1-A and 1-B fighting each other. I know several class 1-B classmates showcase their quirks in a big way in the following season, I just wasn’t a fan of this arc of the story. In the second part, work studies seem to be back in effect. And now that Bakugo and Todoroki finally obtained their licenses, they can finally catch up to the rest of their classmates. Geez, you only now realize that we’re halfway into season five with 100 episodes in and these kids are still only first years. Deku ends up joining Todoroki and Bakugo to work study under the world’s #1 hero…the current one.
Tumblr media
Okay Endeavor, let’s see if you can redeem yourself a little more. Actually, we only got a few episodes dedicated to Endeavor, his family, Deku, and Bakugo. There was an altercation between some rando villain and Endeavor’s son Natsuo. It happened, Natsuo’s safe, we moved on. Okay, now it’s time for My Hero Academia to turn into My Villain Academia. The League of Villains found themselves in severe trouble as another group of baddies ambush them. This was an ugly showdown as it pushed many of the league members to their breaking points. Himeko almost died and Shigaraki was pushed to remembering his own past.
Tumblr media
Yeah, we got the typical backstory for a villain of Shigaraki’s caliber. Misunderstood child, abusive father, enabling family members to abusive father, accidentally murders the entire family, yep, it’s all here on the checklist. Several seasons prior to this moment, we learned that Shigaraki’s paternal grandmother was Nana Shimura. Yes, the same Nana Shimura who was All Might’s mentor and previous carrier to the One For All quirk. Well, Shigaraki’s father was really resentful about his mother because he felt as though he was abandoned by her. That birthed a hatred for heroes and he would get angry if his children mention heroes or wanting to be one. So, there’s that. Shigaraki wound up gaining a quirk and much like Eri in season 4, his quirk went haywire and it took out his entire family. After being a sudden orphan, no one came to Shigaraki’s aid. Not one single hero! All For One did however. He took the boy in, gave him hands of his family members, and gave him a new name and purpose in life.
Tumblr media
Shigaraki, while almost broken to the point of no return, he took out Re-Destro and his gang of baddies. This led to an alliance. Shigaraki’s League of Villains and Re-Destro’s Meta Liberation Front have joined together under a new name, the Paranormal Liberation Front. We end the season with class 1-A showing off what they’ve learned from their work studies. Oh, and Hawkes is still infiltrating the newly formed league. Okay, I’m going to say it. This season was pretty lousy. Don’t get me wrong, I liked several moments in this season including Endeavor trying to atone for his sins, Deku’s new ability, and the My Villain Academia arc. But that class 1-A vs. class 1-B crap was for the birds.
There’s a third movie sometime after this. I really don’t feel like talking about it since I felt so disinterested with it. Blah, blah, Deku is wanted by the police, blah, blah, big fight, blah, blah, no one’s going to die here!
SEASON SIX: Hey, I caught up when it was airing!
Tumblr media
Shit’s about to go down! There’s a heavier tone in this anime everywhere you look. Even in the eye-catches halfway through an episode. The professional heroes, teachers from U.A., class 1-A of U.A. and even a few other students are all part of this sting operation to take down the newly united villain squad, the Paranormal Liberation Front. Besides going after that group, some of this sting is to get this doctor who was behind the creation of the Nomus and is also shielding Shigaraki until he’s 100% and then some. Shigaraki was in rough shape near the end of the fifth season, so he's being constantly monitored. But during the sting, Shigaraki awakened.
Tumblr media
The awakening of Shigaraki led to a domino effect of destruction everywhere. One of the giant villains couldn’t be controlled and ended up wrecking a lot of pro-heroes. Shigaraki’s decay power went berserk and took out the entire area. Deku, Todoroki, Bakugo, and Endeavor went toe-to-toe with Shigaraki and ended up putting a dent in him. Shigaraki is terrifying now, but because he wasn’t finished with the doctor’s experiment yet, his power isn’t what it could be. That’s when All For One took over Shigaraki’s body for his own…even though he’s in super jail. Yeah, I know that doesn’t make a lick of sense, but just roll with it because Shigaraki is going to be a puppet for a while. Moving on!
Tumblr media
And now for the moment I’ve been anticipating! League of Villain alumni Dabi comes in to drop a bomb on the Todoroki family. After Shigaraki ended his rampage, Dabi came in to break the news to not just Endeavor and Todoroki, but to the entire world. He put out a video prior to the current chaos to announce that Endeavor, the #1 hero is his father and went into detail about what a horrible father he was. Dabi (or Touya Todoroki) was Endeavor’s eldest son who was thought to be dead. This broke Endeavor inside causing him to look upon both of his sons fighting. Yes, I’ve been looking forward to this story. The Todoroki family story intrigues me.
Tumblr media
This giant fight that lasted several episodes (if not half of the season) is finally coming to an end without a happy ending. It’s much worse than anyone jumping into the anime without reading spoilers could have imagined. Many characters got messed up badly. Worse than in any other season. Deku winds up in a coma. Bakugo was impaled, but survived. Mr. Aizawa sliced off his own leg to prevent losing his quirk from one of those quirk deleters that got Mirio the other season. Midnight and several prominent ranked heroes are dead. On the antagonist side, Twice ends up dying by Hawkes after he admits to betraying the front. Many of the villains were arrested including the doctor, Re-Destro, Mr. Compress, and Machia. Himiko is on the loose. Shigaraki ended up torching several prisons releasing many convicts with powerful quirks on the public along with All For One. This leaves the public to wonder if they can ever trust heroes again. If it took all of these heroes to take down all of these villains and they still couldn’t complete the mission, what good are they?
That’s not my take, that’s just public opinion…except the public was a lot crueler when it came to the heroes.
Tumblr media
AND NOW THE START OF THE FINAL ARC: With All For One taking over Shigaraki’s weakened state, he can get what he truly wants. The quirk, One For All. Shigaraki mentions it during the giant battle during this season and it catches the attention of Endeavor, Hawks, and even the angry media demanding answers about everything that has happened. Deku decided to make some pretty big decisions once he got out of his coma. Up to this point, Deku’s quirk was only known to All Might and later on Bakugo. Now, he decides to let the rest of his classmates know before he leaves U.A. Deku teams up with All Might, Endeavor, Hawks, and Jeanist to take down the rampant crime going on everywhere. Since season 5, Deku has been seeing past wielders of One For All and slowly unlocking their powers. A lot is riding on Deku with this ultimate power as he can’t pass the power down like All Might did. His life expectancy might be cut short. Kinda like Eren Yeager in Attack on Titan. And he’s getting prepped to take down Shigaraki with no regrets.
I make the Eren Yeager reference here because this is the part of the story that things take a harsher, somber-er tone compared to previous seasons. This includes the opening theme, ending themes, eye-catches, the preview, the background, the music, and Deku.
Tumblr media
Endeavor also made a promise to his family that he will take down Dabi (Touya). But for now, we are focusing on Deku teaming up with the top 3 heroes and All Might to take down every kind of crime from small stuff, misplaced anger, and anything involving the escaped convicts from the several jail breaks. With all of the other One For All quirks unleashed, Deku is able to make use of every one of them with his mission. It came in handy when going up against a former hero and present-day convict Lady Nagant. She is one of the escaped convicts. While All For One told nearly all convicts to do as they please, he had other plans for some special ones. He used Nagant to try and take down Deku. But Deku got through to her near the end of their match and it looked like she was going to see life for more than what she was used to. Unfortunately, things have a funny way of working out when All For One is involved.
Tumblr media
He planted explosives on Nagant. I’m pretty sure she’s a goner. This did not sit well with Deku. And neither did All For One’s taunt where he copied All Might’s infamous line, “now it’s your turn”. Rogue Deku is in quite the state. And now, let’s add his classmates to the mix. They’re going to bring him back to the academy by any means necessary. One Deku with 7 quirks vs. 19 classmates of his. With many flashbacks and a lot of push and pull, the class was able to subdue Deku and bring him back to U.A. which is currently being used as a refuge area. However, the people are not liking the idea of having Deku in the same place as them because Shigaraki’s looking for him and he has One For All. Thankfully, some kind words from Uraraka and a few supporters, the angry crowd came together to let Deku in.
Tumblr media
All For One and Shigaraki’s big threat seems to be looming closer. It’s hard to nail down how long the heroes have. All Might wound up getting this information from the hero-killer Stain. Yeah, you remember him, right? The guy that wrecked Iida and his brother back in season two. I remember Stain always wanting to kill All Might. But seeing All Might the way he is now, either he doesn’t know it’s really him or refuses to believe that’s really All Might. Well, rest up class 1-A because season 7 is gonna be a doozy from what I’ve heard. At least it will be for Bakugo from what I’ve heard. Oh, and we meet America’s #1 hero for a sec, Star and Stripe (voiced by Romi Park).
Wowee-wow-wow-wow! I did not expect to like this series the way I did. I mean, I really do love My Hero Academia. I know I had the opportunity to watch this but chose to watch Black Clover instead. I don’t regret that decision; I just wish I got to watch this a lot sooner and maybe start on the manga. Now that doesn’t mean this entire series is flawless, far from it. There were some seasons that fell flat on its face. I think we all can get on the same page of which season was the one that is the flat can of soda out of this six-pack.
The answer is season five. It’s always going to be season five. No amount of My Villain Academia you throw at the audience is going to undo that. But I suppose that’s where that arc landed and call it bad timing. Long-running manga series have really awesome arcs and really slumpy arcs. Case and point, the anime Food Wars is a good example to bring up here. Their first 2 seasons were really good, but after that is when things started falling by the waist-side. When it comes to My Hero Academia, I had several hits of highs and lows watching. The field trip at the beginning season three, the culture festival at the end of season four, and the majority of season five were my lows. I only put that moment in season three up as, I have to be honest in this review. That arc actually got really good faster than I thought. The other two I mentioned just dragged on. Especially the class competition! I love watching class 1-A in action, but this was just so exhausting to sit through.
I think I’ve beat that dead horse enough. Let’s talk about the characters. I’ve always had the hardest time keeping up with the many characters an anime might have. Especially animes that are set in school and we focus on one particular class. Despite my love for the series Assassination Classroom, I could not remember every single person from that class. With My Hero Academia, I think I was able to recall every classmate. Just class 1-A though. Maybe it’s because of their quirks, some of their looks, or their quirky behavior. The same can be said about characters outside class 1-A like the professional heroes, the villains, the townspeople, Bakugo’s mother…yeah, you have to see the woman who gave birth to a feral, screaming grenade of loud noises.
I do have a legit question for manga readers. Do these kids finally become second years at U.A.? You don’t notice that these kids are in the same grade until it’s season five and you see a Christmas episode and you’re like, “Oh, you’ve gotta be kidding me, they’re still in their first year”. Don’t answer that. I know they’re probably going to age soon. Okay, enough of my dumbassary here. If you have a lot of time on your hands, I give this a full recommendation. If you’re able to sit through 100+ episodes of this, yes definitely give it a watch. And also keep in mind that Studio Bones animates this and they’re the ones who did Full Metal Alchemist: Brotherhood, Mob Psycho 100, and Soul Eater. So, that’s a pretty big incentive.
I know I said some pretty rough things about several moments of this series. But here’s how I would break it down. Season one was a nice start as we get an introduction to Deku and what he’s going to go through to become a hero. Season two was wonderful with more of a build-up to the antagonists of the story. Plus, a tournament arc! Season three had a bit of a slow start, but once you get to Bakugo’s kidnapping and All Might vs. All For One, this season was a sure-fire hit. Season four starts great, but it hits a lull spot. Okay, I guess I can accept that as these kids do deserve some time off. Season five had some good moments with Deku learning a little more about the previous users of One For All and the My Villain Academia arc. Other than that, this season was nothing to write home about. Season six will rock you like a hurricane. It’s almost a little overwhelming in the first half with all of these heroes and villains going up against each other. But never a dull moment.
If you would like to watch My Hero Academia, several sites have the series streaming including FUNimation, Crunchyroll, and Hulu. It is also a staple on Adult Swim’s Toonami, so if it’s on, check it out.
Okay, now that I finished this long series, I think it’s high-time I watch Hunter x Hunter Urusei Yatsura! Huh? Okay, guess we’re doing something else instead.

Lmao, call me petty but I want Hawks to keep some of his win records, it's sad enough Hori decided he was past his prime at 23, and YET this man is going toe to toe with AFO while disabled (which is his QUIRK) with nothing but two katanas and swung hard enough to BREAK the steel. And now he's going to fight AFO in his prime. All Might could never. I hope AFO stays there the whole time, getting rewinded until he turns into a toddler and Hawks just punts him into the sun. Let Deku's legacy be saving Shigaraki's heart, let Hawks' new legacy be decapitating AFO and bullying toddler demon lords. Anyways this got away from me, but we don't actually know which half of the year Hawks debuted right? For all we know, it could've been his birthday, April as is the new school year and when Mt. Lady did, so technically, it's up in the air how quickly after he turned 18 that he hit the top ten, and so it is unknown how quickly Deku would have to be to break that record. Hawks could have a week earlier on him for all we know.
Anon you are going to make me write a literal essay here. I 100% agree. I think people severely overlook how crazy Hawks' accomplishments were too. People make similar comments about 1a's big three doing what Hawks did. And honestly they won't. Endeavor has insanely powerful fire quirk, the will, and is work obsessed. He did not do what Hawks did. He was the second youngest, I think? But there is still a few years difference there. So how would Bakugo or Shoto be in a different situation? Realistically, they wouldn't. They would ascend the ranks quickly, but not in the way Hawks did.
Izuku is a special case because he is All Might's successor and the world is desperately missing All Might. But at this moment, people don't actually know that. And winning the war is a huge accomplishment, but there is a limit to how much that can boost him overall. It's a point scale, not an arbitrary number handed out. And here's the thing- they are first year students. No matter what happens, they cant be pro heroes as students. That's several years of lag for public attention to die out and other things to happen. We can't assume what does or doesn't happen in those years. We also shouldn't forget that Izuku is kinda unpopular right now. We just had an arc where people gathered outside UA to not let him back in. The civilians in MHA don't see the world we see, the fights we do, or what these kids are dealing with. There's too much going on here to say yes or no. Could Izuku do it? Possibly, but I don't think it's as likely as people act. Does he deserve it? Obviously, he's literally going to save Japan. But the hero ranking is a process and I still think it's important the narration says "how I become the greatest hero" and not the number 1. This isn't a is Izuku better than Hawks comparison, it's a discussion of how hero ranking works.
(Not to mention the commission is fucked up right now and it seems the way everything is headed is that there won't be ranks anymore at all.)
Hawks had very unique circumstances considering he was literally groomed since 7 years old to fill this role. He had the personality, the looks, the knowledge, and a quirk that makes him extremely extremely extremely active. He is a workaholic to an unhealthy amount. THAT is how he climbed the ranks impossibly fast. There was not a single second he wasnt scoring popularity points or activity points, or both at the same time. And that WASNT. GOOD.
We don't WANT that. Hawks broke records because he was in a situation that was the product of everything fucked with hero society.
That's the point of his character. Hawks worked and worked and was handsome with the perfect quirk and broke records and made girls swoon- and Keigo didn't exist. Keigo was not a person. Hawks the hero was the only thing there. The entire point of his character is to show the problem with hero society and to have people go "my fav will break his record lol" IT DOES INDEED IRK ME A LITTLE BIT. And you addressed this by mentioning Hawks being last his prime at 23. That is so incredibly depressing and people just gloss over what it actually means. Izuku is supposed to be healthy, have a life, have friends, have off time. He's not supposed to be in this war at all or have this pressure. And before anyone goes "girl, it was a joke TikTok" listen, this isn't about the TikTok anymore. This is an attitude and thought process I have repeatedly seen in this fandom. Oh my god I'm just going to make another post about Hawks' work this is so long

#bkdkapology party (fandom history! 11 March 2023 - 12 March 2023) - cd, tag, Deku's VA and more
Just a small recording of our bkdk fandom on twitter and the trending of the #bkdkapology tag!!!
This happened just after episode 23 of season 6, where the class works to get Deku back, and Bakugou apologizes for everything he had done.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
The tag was a nostalgic one, initially used in 2021 when the chapter originally came out. Here is an example:
Tumblr media
You can still see the most popular tweets from 2021 using the tag #bkdkapology when you click on popular ones, after searching.
At the time I am not sure if the tag itself trended, but it was a popular one.
@/Meylovesbkdk on twitter suggested to celebrate the adaptation of the apology with the tag #bkdkapology, and when the episode came out it quickly trended, with people retweeting and tweeting and using it and celebrating (AND CRYING!).
People shared amazing fanarts in the tag, polls about who sighed when Deku fell into Bakugou's arms (the majority voted Bakugou), memes, pictures, screenshots, tears and crying reactions and so much more.
Two important additions that were often shared in the tags were the back-cover of the opening, apparently drawn by Eve and the interview by Deku's VA.
You can find Deku's VA presentation and feelings about the episode (with summary) here.
Eve is the singer of the season 6 opening "Bokura no". The back of the cd was not revealed until now... the realease (3/22) is the same number of the Bakugou apologizing chapter of the game (322), and shows an illustration of Bakugou and Deku staring at each other (drawn by Eve himself).
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The song "Bokura no" reminded people of Bakugou's apology and feelings since it came out, with the back cover confirming that the singer/author was really thinking about them when he wrote it.
A lot of people were also contributing with amazing analysis here on tumblr, so if you want to read about the use of "you" by Bakugou in the apology (and other scenes), please read this amazing meta.
Another thing worth mentioning is this beautiful art shared by one of the animators of the anime. We see the class hugging Deku happily, and Bakugou smiling, reaching for his hand.
Tumblr media
THE TAG
The tag #bkdkapology trended for about 22 hours, starting with the end of the episode to the next day. Keep in mind that all the data here will use the Rome timezone.
Rome timezone: Episode came out 11 March 2023 at 9:30. So the tag trended till 12 March 2023 at about 8:00 am (last recorded! it might have trended more later, but I don't have data on it).
I tried to record every hour, but of course I could not! Some amazing people on twitter helped me, in particular @/wanderingzygote (who sent me some updates during my nighttime :D), @/Meylovesbkdk, @/meiru, @/JoIyne_wifey, @/yokkynny, @/sherurose, @/Loriqod, @/Lutina_shock, @/lilizyo, @/Millenia_by, @/x_regrets, @/bdkdtrsh, @/DD_my_space (let me know if I missed anyone!).
Here I made a small graph with the data collected. Keep in mind that the timezone is Rome, so the episode started at 9:30.
Tumblr media
The double lines that you see around 14:40 and 17:00 are there because they represent absence of data, as during that time, and before 4:00 (am) I could not collect data.
As you can see there was a pretty quick increase of the tag until the end of the day, with a slowing down later on.
For the first 12 hours after the start of episode, users were sharing about 1200 tweets with #bkdkapology every hour!
The tag reached 20k tweets at about 23:30, which is about 14 hours after the episode!
I also used the website Dashboard Tweet Binder to check the tag itself! I did so at 11:30 am, which is about 3 hours after the tag stopped trending.
Tumblr media
So in about 25 hours, the tag reached 24720 tweets!
You can also see the peak here:
Tumblr media
The highest use of the tag was between 8 am and 13:00 (1 pm). The episode came out at 9:30 am and ended at 10am, so just after the episode and during the episode there was the highest use of the tag with almost 2k tweets.
The website also offers the "most liked and retweeted images" but this analysis is region specific. So in Italy, these were the three most liked and retweeted pictures with #bkdkapology
Tumblr media
Amazing work bakudekus!! I look forward for the next two episodes

Defending Mineta Minoru - Comic Relief Role
Welcome! This is your beautiful grape juice enjoyer writing to you! Today I will be talking about something light, which is: Mineta comic relief role! Grab a snack cause this is a big one of a post.
This blog has no intention to attack anyone or/and the fandom. It's simply to bring awareness to the community to something that isn't noticed by many. It's just an opinion. Also keep in mind that I stopped watching the anime around the time [spoilers ahead, maybe] Deku found his extra abilities with One For All, so pretty much everything is based on things I remember.
Many fans that hate Mineta feel outraged with him having the comic relied role in the show. One thing is not finding the character funny, that's totally fine, but wanting or not Mineta is the comic relief character and here are some reasons.
Reason number 1: He's a punchline, literally. The creator makes him do and say stupid things just so the characters can punch him. I laugh horribly every time I see that scene when Tsuyu slaps Mineta with her tongue!
Tumblr media
Reason number 2: His outfit. My man isn't dumb! He knows he can't catch girls with the way he looks, so he plays the funny card. HIS HERO COSTUME IS A GRAPE BOWL! IT'S FUNNY! (Doesn't matter if we laugh at it or not. It's ridiculous, cute and funny)
Tumblr media
Reason number 3: Culture. I saw a video once from a youtuber saying that each culture has it's own values on what they find funny and each one has also their problematic puns that are socially known as wrong but accepted as a joke. It's not a surprise that Japan pictures pervert characters as comic reliefs in anime. In my culture we also see pervert people/sexual jokes as good comedy, but that's it. We know it's wrong and I swear to you that I slapped the shit out of everyone who was a pervert towards me and even with that I still like Mineta. Some cultures find funny puns about masculine sexual abuse like "Don't drop soap in prison", some find funny homophobic puns, no culture is perfect and innocent and there's nothing wrong with it. What's wrong is when people don't know to separate the pun between reality.
Tumblr media
Reason number 4: Balls. Yeah, we all like to say jokes about balls and Mineta has infinite huge balls to entertain us for a loooooooooooooong time! (If you look well at it, the o's look like balls) Cannot go wrong with the balls puns, every one laughs at it. As the good AC/DC once said "I got big balls, he's got big balls, she's got big balls, but we got the biggest balls of them all!"
Tumblr media
Reason number 5: Character design. Mineta is short, no doubts in that and his height is many times used as a pun. "They're making fun of people with dwarfism!" (I had to use google translator for this one, correct me if I said it in the wrong way) No, they're using his characteristics for comedy! Have you ever seen those videos made by dwarfs creators where they compare a normal sized spoon in the hands of their tall friends, but gigantic next to them? It's not making fun of them in an insultive way! The mha team doesn't turn it a bad thing on the character and many times is an advantage for him while still being funny!
Tumblr media
That's all for today. Two long posts in one day? Damn, I was inspired this night! I would like to come back at some points here in the future and maybe I might do a second part of this theme.
Thank you for reading my words. I may be a fan of Mineta, but I don't defend his pervert actions and I'm the first to admit he's nasty during the show. Let's see...what could I talk about for the next topic? Let's try and see Pervert Characters and understand why many pervert characters aren't judged by their actions and deemed problematic by the fandom, but why Mineta is the exception at the fandom eyes.

Note
I am begging you and every other MHA fan to raise your standards cause Kohei gave everyone a yuri couple only to immediately kill one off.
…how many times has horikoshi faked deaths in this series. Because it’s A LOT. Afo, allmight, izuku losing his arm, bakugou, touya, Ochako literally last chapter, like… the story isn’t done yet my dude.
BUT HEY IF YOU WANNA ACTUALLY CRITIQUE HORIKOSHIS WRITING THEN IM ALL FOR IT HAHA
So how do I think horikoshi has seriously failed mha… hmm…
1: her
Tumblr media
Her entire character. Well, not entire character. She GOT a lot of screen time and development don’t get me wrong, especially later in the series, and yes I love the fact that bakugou and dekus relationship was more prioritized than Izuku and Ochakos, but does that mean he prioritized her character? No! Nope! NADDA! Ochako is repeatedly sidelined throughout the story, and is also somehow excluded from a lot of arcs that SERIOUSLY RELATE TO HER CHARACTER.
Imagine if ochako was a part of the stain arc at all. She joined for selfish reasons like iida, he has a blood quirk like toga (which could’ve EASILY been foreshadowing to her not being freaked out by blood like most people), could’ve been a great way to show some nuance to her character….
And yet… AND YET…
That brings me to mistake number 2: Shoto Todoroki
Do I think shoto’s character is written badly or wrong? No! Of course I don’t! The entirety of the todoroki storyline, especially with its connection to hawks and the dirty parts of heroics, is really really good! I think it’s one of the most well handled abusive families in all of fiction. It understands EVERYONE in the family, and horikoshi is still able to show so much character and development in just a few scenes, like Natsuo or Rei.
So what IS my problem?
The fact that Ochako, her story, her CHARACTER AS A WHOLE… becomes sidelined due to horikoshi’s choice to prioritize his character over her’s. Again, it’s a great story and I wish he could balance both of them in mha, but he COULDNT, and he made the choice to sacrifice a woman’s character over a man’s.
Though I will say, a note on how ochako could’ve been in the stain arc: toga as a concept was created later and for ochako specifically, so it does kind of make sense as to why she wasn’t involved. Plans change and writers change, their ideas for their characters and what direction they go will ALWAYS change, and sadly you can’t predict that you won’t change a character or it’s direction at any point. It sucks! But that’s how a lot of these really long manga’s go. They have to write and then draw it pretty fucking fast.
And tbh I don’t really know what id do in horikoshi’s shoes with ochako and shoto! But it is definitely a critique we can acknowledge. It would take some seriously extraordinary writing skills to be able to balance, what, 3 deuteragonists? Katsuki, Ochako, AND Todoroki? Especially since one of those characters has a very complex trauma storyline that involves like five other characters? I honestly wouldn’t know what to do in his shoes!
I just wish he had picked the woman out of the two of them, but I think everyone knows that his manga wouldn’t be half as popular were he to have made it focus on two guys and a girl, instead of three guys, one of which is conventionally attractive and has major main character energy.
Anyway number 3: the overhaul arc
Ugh I have such mixed opinions on this arc. On one hand it has some really interesting storylines… when they’re on their own.
From what I understand, horikoshi did this arc because he wanted to try his hands at a longer arc and he had never really done that before. And while it’s great and very obvious he learned things from this arc, it just… takes up so much god damn space and gives us absolutely nothing long term.
Like yeah it makes a few points, like how high schoolers shouldn’t be involved in all of this and kinda sets up the ending rn where the actual adult heroes are sacrificing themselves for the next generation (ex: the guy that I forget the name of who’s now bakugous heart, allmight for deku, midnight for Mina/all the other kids, Mount lady, Aizawa for deku and all the other kids, Mirko for bakugou, etc etc), where as villains sacrifice the next generation for THEMSELVES (ex: afo and shigaraki, overhaul and eri, the gun arm girl for deku, also afo for dabi, etc etc) which is really good to do!
It’s just. Yk. Done by basically every other arc.
AIZAWA REPEATEDLY SHOWS THIS, ALLMIGHT REPEATEDLY SHOWS THIS, ENDEAVOR REPEATEDLY SHOWS THIS. Like it’s the entirety of Mount ladies arc, learning to be a hero and sacrifice for the next generation. Sacrifice and the fact that we forget 1-A are high schoolers is constantly shoved down our fucking throats; we don’t need this arc that takes so god damn long, only adds more characters that aren’t that important, TAKES AWAY FROM YOUR MAIN CAST OTHER THAN DEKU AND ALLMIGHT, JUST for it to tell you explicitly that “kids shouldn’t be fighting the battles of the previous generation, but they have to”. It just. Ugh.
There’s so much time in that arc fucking WASTED on nighteye or mirio’s character. Do I think the big three are really interesting? Of course! The contrast between mirio to deku is fascinating! It really shows how much deku can’t become allmight.
But you know. We talked about that a season ago mha. Yk. When he learns to use kicks instead of punches. Or yk. Gran Torino’s entire arc surrounds that. Everything about deku is nothing like allmight. That’s the entirety of their characters together. It’s repeatedly shown to be dekus biggest insecurity. He’s not allmight. YOU DIDNY NEED THIS ARC TO TELL YOU THAT AGAIN.
It’s like, everything that matters in this arc has already been shouting at you throughout the entire show, and everything else is never really used again outside of a mention here or there. It’s REALLY CLEAR Horikoshi was just doing this arc to try doing a long arc, not thinking about the long term of said arc.
Hmmm what else is there to complain about…
Eh, I guess the fan service? Which is, yk, in every other shonen anime/manga out there. Sometimes with people far younger than anyone in mha.
Ugh it’s like people like you just want me to be screaming “horikoshi did this! Horikoshi did that!” Every five seconds. I read the manga, I’ve talked about these flaws before on my account. Sorry if I… enjoy the manga???? Wait… omg!
It’s almost like I’m an mha account and it says RIGHT HERE IN MY BIO! Crazy!
Tumblr media
Like seriously, what was your point? You were mad at drawings on a screen and someone enjoying that story and just… wanted to make someone’s day worse?
Did you expect me to heave over and be like “yes master anon! Toga is the worst written character in mha and horikoshi is a bad writer!” He’s a capable writer who understands his audience more than people give him credit for.
EVERY story has flaws. Every. Single. One. And because mha is literally everywhere and the fandom can get annoying because, it’s literally everywhere, I can understand getting annoyed sometimes. But you can’t sit here and expect me to solely focus on how bad horikoshi’s writing is because you’re mad at one thing. Toga SHOULD be selfless for ochako, sorry that it means thinking that she’s going to die???? What do you want from me?
I don’t have to “raise my standards” because horikoshi uses a lot of subtext and symbolism. I have other gay media I watch or read.
But like every single lgbtq movement that’s ever happened, it takes BABY STEPS. There aren’t many, if any, gay shonens out there, and if mha wants to be the first one it has to play by the rules. It has to make you think this is every other heterosexual shonen ever.
Shojo didn’t just become gay, it had to have shows like sailor moon censor a lesbian couple to be “cousins” so that other shows could exist. Madoka had to be at least semi subtle about its queer coding.
That whole meme where it shows one show saying “x show walked so that y show could run”, yeah that’s how every gay genre was made. Horror didn’t just become gay, it had to have community and relatability build up over the years, along with those new gay writers remembering where they came from, who paved the way.
My point being: I don’t give a shit if you think horikoshi is an awful writer who you think I can’t criticize. However I DO KNOW that if toga and ochako fully get together you’ll NEVER be able to avoid mha. And that thought makes me smile so much more than just the fact that they’re canon.

Nah kill Endeavor midway and introduce new hero to take his role as the hero with new relevant story as No 1 like happened with Hawks and last minute additions like Star Stripe. Because Endeavor remains the only morally bad hero who is an example of what hero should not do in personal life using his job as a cover as Stain warned. His treatment of Inasa, taking on petty cases to increase numbers and being dumber than Iida who cracked the pattern faster magnified his behaviour as a shoddy hero driven by envy and prejudice and personal desires and not enough to call it justice as the subjective praisevsays about his heroics by people who have a personal reason to believe he was good as a hero and not disbelive it even in face of proof. His atonement didn't actually have narrative significance in the end either. If he was pulled out of their story, already Deku then Shoto then self-effort from hidden strength from hope due to Shoto alone was enough. He couldn't give them any actual closure or help. Endeavor in short had little to no big role other than being the cause of this apocalypse from a single video because he took the No 1 spot by default despite being wrong for it. The effect of the video was more positive in the long run by freeing them and making their stories valid by Endeavor's televised confession than how bad Toga or Gentle's families had it from being associated while Shoto seem happier having shared with all. They are also valid for unconditionally loving their son instead of being conflicted by his crimes which is Endeavor's fault to them as Shoto's thoughts went. Overall Endeavor's role is simply as the abuser who prevents his victims from taking heat and criticism from his fans by confessing because they all push him including Hawks and it is possible because the hero association are dead and won't issue a cover up to protect their overall image. But this confession could still be exposed in other ways using new characters or existing information technology known with Garaki Kyuudai had Hori wanted while keeping Endeavor bad which would have resulted in a better catharsis than leaving him sticking on to his victims.
Ok so another long break down.
Killing Enji this way only works if the story becomes fully about Hero corruption, which it just isn't. All of the Heroes which had questionable attitudes toward Heroics changed their ways, or besides Enji just weren't that bad to begin with. Even if we leave Enji as a truly bad guy, he's one out dozens we see who are all good, so it doesn't even help prove the corruption angle much. Could this work--sure, but it'd change the story and it's themes drastically from what Hori's intentions seem to be--at that point it's not even his story.
On top of that we get no evidence Enji is using his job as a Hero as cover. Nor did Stain ever say anything about Heroes using their job to hide actual crimes. I love the guy, but all he cared about was people being Heroes that weren't 100% selfless. On top of that he just didn't even seem to check the Heroes he hunted out first, since we have no evidence Tensei was anything other then a great Hero who cared a lot about saving people. Stain didn't know about Enji's abuse and just hated him because he wasn't All Might.
But Enji did crack Stain's pattern--that's why he and Shoto we in the city at all that night. He tells Shoto about it when they leave for Hosu. Shoto even says he only picks Enji's agency because he's a great at his job and despite his hate for him at that point, it'd be stupid to turn down learning from one of the best in the industry.
Enji never shows prejudice in the manga. The spin off made him OOC so he could function as a side antagonist for the later arc in the story, but in the main story he never acts that way. No, he was never great to fans because having fans was never his reason for being a Hero and he didn't understand how important it was to inspire people until he became #1.
I assume what you mean by disbelieving proof, you're talking about Touya's video during the first War. Honestly, people not believing Touya makes perfect sense in context. Enji was never super popular, but when a villain who has killed multiple people and is currently responsible for a major terrorist attack effecting dozens cities suddenly releases a video saying "Hey, this guy trying to stop me from killing everyone is actually bad, trust me, and therefore you should hate everyone who has the same job." it is hard to believe. Plus, people did did believe it, they just were more concerned about Enji failing to stop a massive terrorist attack that probably resulted in hundreds of casualties and displaced thousands of people, then the fact he abused his family--something that in the moment is nothing compared to all the lives lost.
Endeavor in short had little to no big role other than being the cause of this apocalypse from a single video because he took the No 1 spot by default despite being wrong for it.
Enji didn't cause the apocalypse, Shigaraki and the LoV did. Sure, Touya's video didn't help, but because it came out after most of the major damage was done it didn't have as much effect as it could have had if it had been released right after Enji got the #1 spot. People would have been angry at the Heroes and Enji anyway because so many people died and the LoV wasn't captured.
The effect of the video was more positive in the long run by freeing them and making their stories valid by Endeavor's televised confession than how bad Toga or Gentle's families had it from being associated while Shoto seem happier having shared with all.
We don't actually see the family show any positive emotions toward the video. In fact we see them having to hide from the public because they're now blamed for Touya's murders. Shoto can't even go and be with his friends when Izuku walks into U.A, and instead has to hang back with Enji who, I assume had to go in a back way due to all of the hate they were getting because of Touya's video. Shoto might not be upset with his friends knowing, but he was never super quite about his abuse either, given he spilled the beans to Izuku as quick as possible during the sports festival. We don't see if the rest of the family feels similarly at all.
They are also valid for unconditionally loving their son instead of being conflicted by his crimes which is Endeavor's fault to them as Shoto's thoughts went.
But they don't see Touya's crimes as Dabi as 100% Enji's fault. Shoto tells him it was wrong of him to involve other people. Natsuo tells him to stop and that he's being an idiot big brother. Fuyumi just doesn't want him to kill their mom and dad. Even when Shoto thinks "he is me" that implies he does consider Touya's actions his own, since Shoto always held himself responsible for his own poor choices, like being rude to Inasa. Just because they still love Touya doesn't mean they don't hold him responsible for his actions. Enji is at fault, yes, but at the end of the day Touya still decided to murder random people to fulfill his own plans of revenge.
Overall Endeavor's role is simply as the abuser who prevents his victims from taking heat and criticism from his fans by confessing because they all push him including Hawks and it is possible because the hero association are dead and won't issue a cover up to protect their overall image.
The family isn't getting shit on by Enji's fans though, nor does Enji admitting the video is true suddenly make people 100% fine with the other Todoroki's. People didn't hate on the family because they saw them as lying about the abuse because they love Enji to much--they were mad because they view them as extensions of Touya, who killed their loved ones and destroyed their homes. They also don't have to push Enji to do the press conference or admit his abuse. They push him to stay a Hero and help them stop/save Touya. That's why even after he admits to the abuse, Shoto is still shunned.
We also have zero evidence to suggest the Hero Commission ever covered up the abuse. Especially since Shoto has no problem telling Izuku about it.
But this confession could still be exposed in other ways using new characters or existing information technology known with Garaki Kyuudai had Hori wanted while keeping Endeavor bad which would have resulted in a better catharsis than leaving him sticking on to his victims.
Again, this only works if you fundamentally change the story Hori is trying to tell. He wants Enji to change and be a better person. You can not agree with that choice, but if we're taking about stuff an author could have done better you have to try and stick to what they want the story to be. We still don't know 100% what Hori is trying to say because the ending hasn't come out yet, but so far Enji atoning seems to be a big part of the overall message of the story. If that is the case you have to try and find fixes that stick with that vision, otherwise you're just writing your own story, not just making editing suggestions to make the current work better.

While reading for the chapter for first time - “Why are they so close to him, one touch man will turn them into dust if Monoma blinks even for a quarter of a second”
But No! They planned this, they wanted to engage Shigaraki in close combat. That’s what this whole thing is about. Like they wanted to close in on him, understand his fighting pattern more and then device a strategy to put a stop to him.
I believe this was a four-step plan for the team handling Shigaraki (they only have him there separated from others) -
Drag the league out of their hiding and separate them (Done – they created the whole floating arena for that)
Erase his decay quirk to prevent an instant loss (Also done – Monoma and Aizawa are making sure the quirk is not in action)
To make Shigaraki physically move and engage in close combat to understand a pattern, learn insights and his weakness (Going on)
And lastly, with help of OFA finish of the whole thing before AFO gets the chance to completely take over Shigaraki’s body
But things went down the hill somewhere between step one and two as we know, Deku got wrapped to the island because of Toga and even though erasure is in work, Shigaraki started to grow those gross hands/fingers.
They still went ahead with their plan though; First scamming around all over arena to making it look like they are running away from him, but I think they were trying to understand the damage caused by Shigaraki and understanding their ruined surrounding.
Second, they tried to get close to him and engage in hand-to-hand combat. We see Edgeshot, Miriko, Bakugo and Suneater trying to get closer to him, while Jeanist and Nejire provided support with long range attack.
Even after this, the only one who could reach even a bit closer to Shigaraki was Bakugo; and he was able to land a solid blow at that.
Ngl, when in Ch 359 Aizawa yelled “Someone please save Bakugo”; I was mad for few seconds, I felt insulted that they are making out him to be some weakling in need of a save. I felt like – C’mon, He is a Hero! He can handle himself just fine.
But the next second it stuck me, that he is still a 16–17-year-old, he is just a kid who was forced to grow up way faster than normal kids (all the UA kids were). That he still has many things to learn, he still has a lot of scope to introspect and grow, that he is still needs to graduate from UA and be the number 1 hero.
Now, I know the situation seems bleak, but here me out.
While beating him up, Shigaraki (or AFO’s conscious whoever was talking to him) actually pressed on his sensitive nerve, his inferiority complex to Deku. Blatantly stating they never had any interest in him. It also seemed, when his ultimate move did not finish off Shigaraki, Bakugo himself seemed down for a second there.
I won’t call his attack to be a failure because that one sure did a number on Shigaraki, he lost his right eye. At first, I did not think much about it but it soon clicked, Erasure is still at work, meaning not only his Decay is out of the picture, but also that Super Regeneration is not working or any of the AFO’s quirks. That means, any damage to his body now, will be permanent till Erasure is still on. And it seemed Shigaraki knew it, so it busted Bakugo’s Support gear, knowing full well that two or three more hits and things will actually start to go down for him. (I won’t say they would kill him; we saw his fight with Star and Stripe. Shigaraki is like that cockroach that just won’t die)
But that’s it. Those few seconds were the only time Bakugo was down with himself.
I won’t say Bakugo is the only one who has gone through immense personality development. But we all can agree, no one better than Bakugo himself knows how much he is lacking, he has acknowledged that fact and accepted that there are a few things that needs group efforts, he has come a long way from his pre-UA self.
The Bakugo we now see is the one who has matured a lot. He knows things are difficult, he knew that even before going into this battle, right now he has it in front of him. But has anything ever stopped him? Has Katsuki ever given up just because things got difficult?
No. And even if Shigaraki was beating the shit out of him, while hurling all that crap at him; Bakugo was watching.
Bakugo is known for his hot-headedness, for his charging into battles. At face value it may seems just rash and childish behaviour; but time and again he has proved to be above all that. He knows what strategies are, he knows to not let his guard down in a fight, he knows every attack and counter attack should be carefully analysed to come to an optimal solution, he knows to consider his surrounding while still going all out.
So, while Shigaraki is throwing him around and kicking him, Bakugo is gathering information. His eyes open, he is looking, analysing every small detail.  This then all resulted into –
Tumblr media
While Jeanist is trying to comfort him and patch him up, Bakugo’s eyes are glued to the battle in front of him. He has figured something out.
Now two things, Bakugo might be muttering to himself about all the data he gathered or he might be telling Jeanist what he found out.
If we consider he is muttering to himself, then there is a possibility that there are a few words that are lost to us. Meaning, there are Feints present in the way Shigaraki fights which are somehow related to his right side and there is something wrong with his fingers. It also means, if they successfully discard these feints, the Hero’s may be able to gain an advantage in this situation without OFA.
The other possibility, Bakugo telling Jeanist what he found out. That his Right Finger are doing some feint moments, the true objective lies somewhere else.
I personally think, the first one to be highly likely. Shigaraki’s left hand was badly injured during his fight with Redestro, if I’m not wrong the same was also badly injured in the Jaku fight (his whole body was burned though, but two of his left hand fingers seem to be cut off) and his fight with Star and Stripe he was again reduced almost to skeleton and he was only using his right hand. His right hand is the main deal here, left hand fingers are all just distractions, used to keep anyone from reaching his main body.
The thing I wanna see now is what is Bakugo going to do. He isn’t just going to sit around and let others continue the fight.
I have three things in mind that seems likely to happen:
1.       Bakugo is going to wreak havoc in the coming chapter
Tumblr media
Because this isn’t the face of a man that would just sit around waiting for help. He has some strategy cooking up, his quirk seems to have upgraded as the sweat around his face is showing sparks. Because, this man is not finished yet, he will win, no matter what.
Though I must admit, that will be only till AFO takes over. OFA needs to be there to get rid of AFO.
 2.       Deku is not coming to join this battle anytime soon
Tumblr media
(Ch 357)
If we consider that at this point in story, all that is now going on is happening simultaneously, then last time we saw Deku he was flying over the sea to the arena to fight Shigaraki.
But as it happens, it seems something is coming towards Deku. It’s highly unlikely to be Nomu as we saw them get wrapped to other places. So, these could either be
A group of Tartarus escapees, who like lady Nagant are in some binding vow with AFO
Or a group of Villains from overseas. Heroes aren’t the only one who can call in for reinforcement from other countries, there ae villains in those countries too who could join the fight. And I think its them, because these look-like airplanes (similar to what Star and Stripe brought with her. Maybe AFO called these just to deal with Deku)
Or some factors we completely disragerded till now
So, all in all, Deku is going to have to deal with these guys first making him even more delayed to reach Shigaraki. So, by the time he wraps up, I think he is going to reach just in time to deal with AFO.
3.       This panel from Ch 357 scared me then, it’s still scaring me now
Tumblr media
I think he going to self-destruct and take a large chunk of Hero’s down with him. He said this body was done for, so he has something planned. We saw Eri in a panel before this, taking us back to the fact that AFO still has the quirk erasing bullets.
But it’ll more than just a bullet – to me it seems like he has worked on it and will have advanced with its function, making it close to Eri’s own quirk but only amplified. Like after awakening her quirk Eri erased her father from existence only; so, it’ll be something twisted like erasing everyone who comes in contact with even a small shard of his.
P.S. - The big three were just awesome last chapter, i just hope all of them make it out of this alive. Also, where is Miriko??
Before we get answers to these, we are going to have others fights.
Let me know what you guys think!
Toodles!!!

A thought: I think the whole traitor subplot in BNHA would've been better if... well, first off if it had been better established and woven throughout the story instead of being briefly established as a possibility and then basically completely dropped until the reveal of the traitor's identity, but also if instead of Aoyama the traitor was Todoroki. Or alternately (and possibly more entertainingly) Aoyama was still All For One's traitor but Todoroki was working with Dabi (although that would obviously require reworking the whole situation between them so that they weren't on the worst terms two brothers can possibly be on).
Like... Aoyama is a very sympathetic traitor. He's a kid put into a horrible situation by circumstances outside of his control, so of course the audience feels bad for him and wants things to work out for him in the end. But that's basically all he's got going for him as the choice for traitor beyond confirming that All For One is The Most Evil, which wasn't really necessary at this point in the story. I guess there is a little bit of a thing about how being quirkless is treated in the setting if you want to read it that way, but nothing that wasn't already covered with Deku. I like how there are things he does in earlier chapters that read very differently when you know he's the traitor (like him drawing attention to the fact that his whereabouts were unaccounted for during the USJ attack), but honestly that's the nicest thing I can say about him being the traitor. He's a very safe choice, for lack of a better way of putting it; the thing that led to him becoming a traitor was his parents' decision rather than his, he has to do it on pain of death, he wanted to help and tried to draw people's attention to him being suspicious so that they'd do something about it. You couldn't come up with a less controversial reason for someone to be a traitor if you tried! And it doesn't require interrogating anything about hero society that we weren't already interrogating.
Todoroki being the traitor would be an entirely different story, though. For one he actually has a motive beyond "I'll be killed if I don't"; honestly I'm a little surprised he's never even utilized as a red herring, because this kid is the only member of Class 1-A with any reason to side with the villains. The number two hero was violently abusive towards him from when he was five years old at the latest and no one ever helped him. Endeavor was physically abusive towards Shoto and neglectful towards his other kids and no one ever helped them. Even when Rei threw boiling water in her son's face, a) it seems likely that this was covered up to at least some extent since otherwise that sort of story would be a huge deal (it's exactly the sort of awful, sordid shit people like learning about celebrities, tabloids would eat that up) and b) no one investigated the household afterwards, or if they did they didn't do a very good job of it. Hell, Endeavor's not particularly subtle about it; he openly refers to Shoto as something he made to take down All Might to All Might's face (and I've read in the original Japanese he refers to Shoto as "it" instead of "him"? But I can't confirm that for myself currently), and Shoto sure as hell isn't hiding the fact that his father treats him terribly. But Endeavor faces zero consequences for the way he treats his family until Touya outs the whole affair to all of Japan! His status as number two—and later number one—hero is absolutely protecting him, and I get the sense Shoto is very aware of that. If anyone in this class was going to say "No, this society is terrible, tear it down and start again"... well, he definitely has the most reason to. He's also a significantly more important character in the rest of the story than Aoyama, which would give the betrayal more weight.
Also, since Horikoshi clearly wants a sympathetic traitor (which I have to say probably is the best way to go unless the traitor was Mineta in which case the class should throw him off the highest roof they can find, he'd deserve it no matter how sympathetic his motivation was)... "I want hero society rebuilt because it let my dad get away with abusing his whole family for a decade" is still really sympathetic! It's honestly just as sympathetic as Aoyama's motivation, it just allows the traitor some actual agency. Or alternately if he's Dabi's spy specifically it could be a situation where the two of them are using the League to get a shot at Endeavor as Dabi does in canon, in at least Shoto's case because all legal courses of action have failed to do anything for him and he's desperate to do something, anything to get out of Endeavor's clutches. Either way that would create an opportunity to actually examine the good points the villains make with a character who isn't... y'know, obviously full of shit. After all, if heroes can do whatever and it'll get covered up for the sake of The System then there will always be people abandoned and allowed to fall through the cracks, and some of those people are going to turn to desperate measures to help themselves because there is no other choice. Plus going back to the point of agency, a setup where Todoroki is willingly working with the League (or at least his brother) because he thinks it's the only way to create a better world (or the only way to deal with Endeavor) would create a situation where he could willingly switch sides because All For One has gone way too far and this is not what he wanted, which a) is a viewpoint from the villains that feels like it should've come up more and b) to me feels more compelling than "I never wanted to help them anyway" as a motivation to change sides.
Also I do have to admit it: I like me some Todobros. I was very disappointed when it turned out Dabi genuinely hated Todoroki, I wanted them to be close. Really ramp up the angst of them being enemies, y'know? Also (while I haven't got to the summer training camp arc of the anime yet so I don't know how it's animated) in the scene where Dabi first appears to steal Bakugou in the manga the art looked to me like he deliberately avoided hitting Todoroki with his flames so it feels like a real shame that it turns out that either that was incidental or Todoroki just dodged and I misread (mis-saw?) the scene when it could have been Dabi not being able to bring himself to hurt his baby brother. Anyway, having them be close and working together to bring down Endeavor would give me the dynamic between them that I wanted canon to have. It would also humanize Dabi a bit to have a single positive human connection that he genuinely cared about, which I do think he'd benefit from; there are many good bonds that people give him in fics and fanon, but canonically he genuinely doesn't seem to give a shit about anyone or anything other than taking down Endeavor, and at times it kind of feels like he's written that way just to devalue his really good reasons for wanting his dad gone (in ways other than. y'know. all the murder). Also if they were close and pretending they a) weren't related and b) hated each other there would be so many opportunities for them to say and do things that would read very differently on a second read. Also there could be Todoroki agreeing to turn triple agent on the condition that his brother is shown leniency for all that murdering he's been doing, which is just a fun concept to me.
Anyway, though. Main takeaway from this: I just think Todoroki would've been a much more engaging and believable traitor than Aoyama and having him be the traitor would've created more opportunities to engage with the problems of hero society instead of just being another instance of All For One being evil. And honestly the more I think about it the more of a wasted opportunity it feels like that Todoroki is never even used as a red herring for the traitor seeing as he actually has reasons to turn on hero society.

➸ featuring bakugo katsuki
➸ cw: angst with no comfort; improper letter format; improper grammar; differing from actual anime plot; mentions of blood, death, hospital and illness; female reader; lmk if i missed anything!
➸ pre-note: day two of my [letters for you] event,, enjoy!
Tumblr media
march 2, 7:04 pm
suki!
sorry i haven’t answered any messages or calls. i can barely do anything by myself now. the doctor said the treatment wasn’t working. i’ll probably die any day now. nurse una is currently writing this letter for me. i don’t have the strength to do it myself. please don’t cry at my funeral. don’t waste your tears for me. i want you to smile, knowing i was happy. you made my childhood so much more fun. i shared so many smiles with you. remember the happy me, not the sick me, laying in a hospital bed with tubes connected to my body. don’t take your anger out on your friends. don’t blame yourself. it isn’t their fault, nnor is it yours. i was just unlucky to receive such an overwhelming quirk with my frail body.
make sure to pay attention in school okay? i’ll be watching you! so become the world’s number 1! just like you promised me when we were kids. i’m a bit sad, knowing i won’t see it. it’s one of the few regrets i’ll be taking with me.
meeting you was one of the best things that has happened to me. thank you for always being there to protect me. you’ve made my life so much brighter. did i do the same for you? i hope i did.
i love you katsuki, more than you ever would’ve guessed. i love you for who you are, the “angry” bakugo, but also the soft katsuki who’s just like any other person. don’t hate that side of yourself; it’s beautiful. love yourself, alright?  i hope you get this letter in time. maybe i’ll be able to see you one last time.
          love,               [name]
Tumblr media
a knock was heard throughout the bakugo’s residence.
“katsuki go get the door!“
“WHY ME?“
“GO DO IT!“
muttering curses under his breath, the boy opened the door.
“whadya wan- nurse una?“
“ah, katsuki! i uh, have something for you.“
reaching into her purse, the woman pulled out an envelope.
“it’s from [name]-chan. i’ll... be going now.“
taking the envelope, katsuki offered a wave to the retreating woman.
“who was it?“ his mother asked, coming from the kitchen.
“nurse una, [name]’s personal nurse. she gave me something from [name].“
opening the envelope, he pulled out a letter. his mother, peeking over his shoulder, read it with him.
the envelope fell to the ground. the letter soon followed.
Tumblr media
a boy, followed by his mother was seen running through the halls of the hospital.
“room 213, room 213.“
opening the door, he was met by nurses and doctors surrounding a bed.
“[name]!“
pushing past the small crowd, he looked down. a girl laid still. to the side, the heart monitor flat. falling to his knees with tears falling from ruby orbs, staff silently backed away.
“you idiot, at least let me tell. you i love you too.“
Tumblr media
laying on the ground after taking a mortal blow, katsuki looked up at the sky. a soft smile spreads across his bloody features. from a distance he could hear deku calling his name. but, strange, why did he sound so far away when he was right in front of him?
a soft laugh escaped his lips.
“i’ll see you soon, [name].“

Good day to you! I was rereading your amazing comic of TWSTxP5 when I decided to see the masterlist and the au link. You seems to have so many AU ideas that seems interesting, but I am quiet interested to know more about the MHA AU. Can you please elaborate more on this? Thank you 🙏
Hi hi :3
U-U unfortunately since I last updated the au link.... I... kinda.... created even more aus -3-
The MHA au is a chaotic au... but with a lot of focus points... in other words... I'll break down in here the 3 main plots that this au offers :D
But first, a small intro on this au:
If you don't happen to know MHA(My hero academia)... It's a very popular anime in which around 99% of the population got superpowers dubbed as quirks. You must have some shitty luck to be born quirkless in a world where heroes and villains from comics are fighting right down the street. There are schools who specialize in training heroes, the top one being UA. I won't soil anything more for anyone else who reads this and wants to get in the anime. A fair warning... there is a lot going on in the fandom, so my recommendation is to first get more deep in the show before checking the fandom...
That's an intro for the anime itself, but it will serve as a background for this au lore-wise.
Also warning: I watched fully only up until the 4th-5th season or smth(I forgot) so like we will have to work with that knowledge...
Smol note: in this au, the cannon MHA characters are aged up until we reach to Deku being the no.1 hero, even more after that... So while the cannon of the anime plot wise won't be really mentioned or it will be changed to fit, there will be parallels too that lead to something big.
Now... the quirks and courses the boys are taking:
Heartslabyul
Riddle Rosehearts -Quirk: Headless collars; Course: UA class 2G biology course
Riddle's Quirk allows him to create out of his body special snapping bands that once they wrap around something, they become metal collars. Those collars can emit a toxin that cancels the victim's Quirk as long as they are wearing it. A collar's weight and size can differ depending on Riddle's current emotional condition, as he still cannot control them fully. Currently, Riddle is a biology student at UA, despite his potential of being in the hero courses.
Ace Trappola -Quirk: Creation Roulette; Course: UA class 1A hero course
Creation Roulette is a Quirk with many drawbacks, but a lot of advantages so it wasn't a surprise Ace was a student that entered in UA through recommendation. His Quirk allows Ace to summon out of his body lipids and glucids different objects from pens to cannons. He needs to have a lot of skin showingfor his quirk so there'sthe embarrassing part. The bad part is that the object either is a new, perfectly functional one or an old, impossible to use trinket from the junkyard. This is why Ace has to occupy his time with learning how to fix and restore objects. After all... he cannot just throw them in the enemy's head and hope for the best...
Deuce Spade -Quirk: Mirror hits; Course: UA class 1A hero course
If you inflict any kind of physical pain on Deuce, then he can recreate your attack level of pain through small bullet like cards with numbers on them. If the number is lower than 50, then the pain may range from poking to punches in the face. If the number is in between 50 and 100, then the pain may range from waxing for the first time to straight up stabbings. Deuce can pile up to 7 attack bullets and merge some together until they reach 100 to clear space. If he stacks up attacks, then numbers will appear on his lower left arm. The only thing is... Deuce shouldn't take too much calculating those numbers...
Cater Diamond -Stone copy; Course: UA class 3A hero course
Cater's Quirk is a tricky one. Turning any kind of snall stone into copies of himself. If the stone has proprieties, then the copies gain abilities like increased speed, force or mental processing capacity. Cater can keep the clones in between 10 minutes and 1 hour, but cannot have more than 5 at the same time.
Trey Clover -Quirk: Doodle rewrite; Course: UA class 3A hero course
If Trey's touching any kind of unliving object, with all 5 of his fingers, then he can manipulate the shape, state and color of the said object. However the drawbacks are the need of sugar Trey heeds to maintain his Quirk, along with the fact that he cannot change the chemical composition of the said object. He also needs to maintain contact in between his fingers and the object.
Savanaclaw
Leona Kingscholar -Quirk: Sand lion; Pro Hero: Rex Harenae
Being a pro hero with royal blood, Leona often rubs it to Farena's face that he managed to use his Quirk better than him. Sand lion is a Quirk that allows Leona to turn his lipids into maneuverable sand. His special move is being covered in his sand becoming a gigantic sand lion. His Quirk is named that way because of Leona's lion ears and tail, who are more of a family heritage than a second Quirk. Recently he took the offer of teaching at UA, despite being fairly new in the hero industry. Maybe he's able to tame the rowdy class 1A.
Jack Howl -Quirk: Unleash beast; Course: UA class 1A hero course
With a lot of training, Jack managed to polish his Quirk to the point he can turn parts of his body into wolf ones instead of turning directly into a gigantic wolf, like his Quirk allowed him at first. Very puppy like personality and armed with a notebook and pen, Jack's goal is to understand and witness everyone else quirks from UA, just like the pro heroes's. It's common to see Jack's tail wagging excitedly whenever he sees a new quirk in action, even if he has a poker face.
Ruggie Bucchi -Quirk: Laugh mimicking; Course: UA class 2F support course
Another 5 fingers activating Quirk. If Ruggie happens to touch any living person, he can control their bodies as long as Ruggie does the same moves. Although he cannot hold it for long, Ruggie usually laying on his sneakiness.
Octavinelle
Azul Ashengrotto -Quirk: Land octopus; Course: UA class 2H economy course
Azul is at first glance inoffensive. By his blue blush, octopus eyes and being able of spitting ink, he is a studious and more retreated. But if you happen to know the real potential of the said Quirk, you would know Azul's 4 octopus tentacles that can sprout from his lower back, along with his insane strength. It's really something Azul would rather keep for himself.
Jade Leech -Quirk: Stun-truth glare; Course: UA class 2A hero course
Jade's Quirk is a scary one. If you look him in the golden eye, you will be stunned for as long as Jade looks at you. But if by chance you manage to look in his other eye, you will be forced to tell the truth for 3 questions he asks you. Most people don't know when he activates his Quirk or if he already did it, so it's better to not make eye contact with him, unless some dumbass became your sacrifice lamb.
Floyd Leech -Quirk: reflexive bubbles; Course: UA class 2A hero course
This Quirk is a more defensive one, yet Floyd still manages to create the most aggressive chaos possible with it. Being able to create bubbles of any size that bounce off any kind of attacks can have drawbacks, as they float away or pop after certain amounts of time. Floyd still is very unusual with his use of the Quirk. One may think he and his twin have a 2nd Quirk by the fish ears, body markings, sharp teeth and gills, but really it's just the Leech family's eel genetics....
Scarabia
Kalim Al-Asim -Quirk: Water manipulation; Course: UA class 2A hero course
There's not that much to say about this Quirk... rather... Kalim needs to understand that summoning a tsunami isn't the answer to everything...
Jamil Viper -Quirk: Eye of snake; Course: UA class 2A hero course
Much like Jade... Do. Not. Look. Into. His. Mf. Eyes! If you really are someone who doesn't know danger... Jamil's gaze can make you completely his puppet. It's a problematic Quirk hence Jamil mostly wears one side see-through glasses to avoid making an army of brainwashed persons.
Poemfiore
Vil Schoneheit -Quirk: Chemical kiss; Course: UA class 3N arts course
While he may seem like he doesn't use it often, being able to turn your spit and sweat into any kind of chemical composition as long as you know it, is a very useful Quirk when you want to have unique perfumes, create any kind of beauty products and most importantly... keeping that skin moist and fair without much hassle. Very useful fir poisons too... but you didn't hear it from me :3
Epel Felimer -Quirk(s): 1. Ice sleep, 2. One for all; Course: UA class 1A hero course
His very first, natural Quirk, is trapping people and objects into ice cages that emit sleeping gas inside of them. Epel uses it not that often, as he already mastered it. As fir now, Epel needs to learn and train his body for the One for All Quirk, that was passed to him through a freak accident.
Rook Hunt -Quirk: Eye of the beholder; Course: UA class 3A hero course
While Rook's Quirk allows him to sumon eyes he sees through on any object or surroundings his target interacts with, or straight on the target itself, Rook is a very scary student and even more dangerous if you happen to piss him off.
Ignihyde
Idia Shroud -Quirk: Underworld curse; Course: UA class 3D support course
Some call it a blessing, other an opportunity opener, a few may say it's a worthy hero Quirk, Idia calls it a curse. He can cover any part of his body into a blue flame, that Idia himself controls it's destructive potential. But it seems like Idia avoids mirrors quite often. Some may wonder about that.
Ortho Shroud -Quirk: ???; Course: Elementary school✨️
It's a spoiler :3c
Diasomnia
Malleus Draconia -Quirk: Dragon; Course: UA class 3A hero course
Entering through recommendation, Malleus is the star of UA's 3rd year. His Quirk not only allows him to spit green flames, but also lets Malleus to have dragon wings, tail, claws and horns. With that intimidating apparent and aura, mist don't really approach Malleus. But I promise he's a nice guy... just a bit... clueless...
Sebek Zibvolt -Quirk: Weather breath; Course: UA class 1A hero course
Sebek's Quirk is a very moody one. He can release out of his mouth clouds at will, and based on his emotions, the clouds can become dangerous storms. People wonder how he managed to enter through recommendation, but they doubt Sebek's ability to combat without a Quirk use.
Silver Vanrouge -Quirk: Dream breath; Course: UA class 2B hero course
A sleep gas that silver can emit out of his mouth. Great for a hero, bad if silver falls victim to his own Quirk. :3
Lilia Vanrouge -Quirk: Vampire; Pro Hero: Dracula
You like movie vampires? The ones that turn into bats, levitate, cannot be seen in mirrors and blend in with the shadows? Well that may sum up Lilia's Quirk. An insane power state that is fueled by: tomato juice. You thought it was blood, no? Well... this UA teacher is sure enjoying himself by scaring newbies
And that was all for now :3
Not yet anything about the plots... but there are hints :3

My #1 post of 2022
I usually don’t dabble in the art of meta, but Dabi’s story is compelling to me in the sense that it addresses the dehumanization of villains. He’s not evil because he got up one day and decided to be. He’s evil because he feels.
Endeavor wanted to live vicariously through him and use him to have the Todoroki name in the Number One hero slot. Then when Touya started hurting himself, he took it away without thinking about Touya’s feelings. Endeavor’s dreams became Touya’s and just like that they were gone. But what was there was something to prove.
Dabi still feels that hurt, but has transformed it into a pitted rage and jealousy against his own. I don’t necessarily blame him for how he feels either. He’s watching his little brother succeed in taking over the dream he once had and earn the approval he never did have.
Shouto understands this. He knows Dabi is more complex than just a bad guy. He’s hurting and he wants to do what he can to save him, even if it means just talking things through. And Shouto hurts too. He dealt with the loss of Touya for so long and he wants answers. He’s also been in similar shoes as Dabi and the burden of the Todoroki name now rests on him.
So far Shouto is the only one to really show any concern. Everyone is quick to dismiss Dabi and his emotions as seen in the civilians who saw his video and simply called Dabi annoying. To them, Dabi is no more than a common pest in need of extermination. But Shouto actually heard the message. He went out of his way to establish a connection with him and even risked his life. And as Dabi says he is still Shouto’s brother. He’s more than just bad. He’s a brother. A son. A friend (Whether he likes it or not).
A person.
Meanwhile everyone else thinks he’s just a goal for the heroes to conquer. For this generation of rising heroes, it’s definitely a good change. The goal of a hero is to save those in need and in the narratives of Shouto and Dabi as well as Deku and Shigaraki, we see a reform moving towards the original goals. It’s not about fame, glory, and money anymore. And it never should have been. It should have been about the people.

My Dad for One theory + Shigaraki was quirkless (manga spoilers)
Tumblr media
Hear me out, this is going to sound so weird. Let me know if I got anything wrong.
Premise number 1: We know that quirks are passed genetically, but that there is a part of the population who is quirkless. Still, quirkless people are rarer and their numbers are decreasing drastically.
Premise number 2: Piling up quirks (the use of OFA) has shortened the lifespan of previous users, but this has no effect on someone quirkless (like All Might and Deku himself)
Premise number 3: We know AFO was trying to create the perfect vessel for himself (and the nomus). And we know that AFO does want to take AFO and given how long he has lived, we can assume that he has always deduced that AFO is better used by a quirkless body than a quirk one. So it would benefit him to have quirkless children to raise up as his future vessel
Theory 1: SHIGARAKI IS QUIRKLESS
There is a popular theory around which is... Shigaraki is quirkless and his quirk was given to him by AFO.
We know that AFO was probably going to target Nana's family and she had to leave them to protect them. Once Nana was dead, we can assume that finally AFO found her family, and found them quirkless.
The idea is that both AFO and OFA are genetically connected (first user was his brother) but also do not need to be passed genetically. By the nature of these two quirks, they are the only ones that could have adapted/evolved to be passed not genetically. Given that a quirkless body is better - what a better way to pass it to your quirkless child through AFO/OFA instead of through genes?
So if by their nature AFO and OFA create quirkless children, we would have all of Nana's children/granchildren as... quirkless.
We have three people genetically connected to Nana (OFA): her son Kotaro, her grandchild Hana and her grandchild Shigaraki (Tenko).
Tumblr media
The interesting thing is that Kotaro and Hana... seem to have no quirks. Shigaraki's quirk is so unusual and so different from Float, and we have no similar quirk in his family. Of course, I could be wrong, as Shigaraki's mother also has no apparent quirk shown.
Still, I found it strange that Horikoshi decided to not show us how Shigaraki's quirk could have been the result of his parents' quirks mixing together. Think back of when Horikoshi introduced families, the Bakugous, Deku's mom, Tsuyu's family, Todoroki's - there was always a focus on quirk and genetics and what could be inherited. Here instead, where we have such an unusual and terrible quirk, we have nothing.
If truly AFO/OFA produces quirkless children, then we would expect Kotaro, Hana and Shigaraki himself to be quirkless.
Another point in support of it, is these panels:
Tumblr media
You can see the first one is a random scene... why is it even there? It gives us nothing, it just shows that Tenko was running away. The mystery man is dressed exactly as AFO in chapter 350, which is a flashback from him finding an almost dead Dabi. Both flashbacks are from before AFO gets injured by All Might.
Given that it looks like he was targetting families of heroes... maybe it was him that found Tenko, found out he was quirkless and then gave him that terrible quirk.
Theory 2: CREATING VESSELS
If AFO found out that Shigaraki was quirkless, and so were the members of Nana's family he could have decided to experiment. If he needs a quirkless body and he knows AFO/OFA produce quirkless children... what better way than producing some himself?
Deku was conceived 7/8 years old before AFO got that terrible injury, so that could mean that was the point when AFO lost close contact with Inko.
My only other point in support of this is the doctor.
Tumblr media
I think it is quite interesting that it is THIS specific doctor (who works for AFO) who is following Deku so closely and finding out Deku is quirkless. That would be excellent news for AFO, a quirkless kid to use as an extra vessel if Shigaraki fails.
So this is my theory! Probably wrong - even if I do firmly believe that Shigaraki was quirkless before he met AFO!

My Hero Academia Love History-Girl from nowhere
Chapter 1- New begining
The young woman sighed looking at the huge building in front of her. She stood in the middle of the entrance gate, where around her other boys and girls of her age entered without stopping, ready to take the entrance exam for the best hero academy in Japan.
-Move,extra!
Someone said while bumping into her shoulder.
-I´m sorry....!
She saw the one that hit her.It was a tall blonde boy.He walked past her without even looking at her...he just told her to get out of the way rudely. On the other hand, he was right, she had been left standing in the middle of the huge gate...although there was still much more room to go through.
She rubbed her arm and finally decided to move forward and cross to the other side. Some people had already grouped up and were talking to each other; she saw the blond boy from before, she was talking to a boy who seemed to be as scared and nervous as she was; green, messy hair and a face full of freckles.
-Deku!- the blonde yelled- get out of my way or I'll liquidate you!!
-M-Morning good luck on the test! -said the other boy stuttering
The blond grunted and walked past her ignoring the other boy.
She was reaching the green-haired boy's height when she heard two people discreetly point at the blond and comment:
-Isn't that Bakugo?....the one from the fight with the mud monster?
-It is true!! -commented the other
Then she remembered that she had seen something on the news, and that her co-workers at the hotel she cleaned also commented it with fear and disgust on their voices, unlike her, none of her co-workers had quirks, and this whole thing about villains and monsters scared them a lot. .
The young woman quickened her pace and entered the large building. She was counting on the fact that this UA test would not take too long, since she had to go back to work... it had already cost her part of her salary to be allowed to leave work to go do the test. She was sure that was illegal, but didn´t dared to complain.
The guy from before stumbled on his own feet.
-¿You ok?...
Another girl came forward asking the same thing, but she held him in the air thanks to her quirk.
Seeing that none of them had noticed her, she did not stop and continued forward.
                                                                                  ***
The auditorium was almost completely full when she entered. She took a seat in a free place, towards the back of the auditorium.
-Welcome young heroes! ....welcome to my live performance!! everyone say "hey"!!
The auditorium fell silent, but Present Mic did not lose his enthusiasm and continued to welcome everyone.
-Now I will explain everything you need to know about the practical test, are you ready?!!!
Again the icy silence.
Seiko leaned back in her chair, resting her left hand on her chin.
-It's the vocal present mic hero! I hear it every day on the radio! he is so cool!!
Without moving from her position, she looked towards the origin of the voice, it was the boy with green hair, and next to her was the unpleasant blonde from before.
-Shut up-Bakugo said.
-As I think you already know, now we will proceed to a practical test of 10 min outdoors
Seiko saw the small identification that was sent to her.It figured her photo, false details of her "old school" and a number addressed with a letter, that identified where she would have the test.....area B she read.
-Hi!
She nearly fell off her chair in fright.
-Kaja!-She suddenly lowered her voice as she remembered where she was- what are you doing here? how did you find me?
-I have been sent to find you so that you can return to the Red Room.
-No way," she whispered.
-Hey! you two!-exclaimed the boy from before-I want to talk!! also goes for you ... yes, you! the boy with wild hair and a normal face!!
Kaja grunted and Seiko did the same, her face twisting in embarrassment as the audience began to laugh. The boy cleared his throat and began to speak.
-In the brochure it says that there are four types of villains and such a mistake is not worthy of UA High!! ...It is unacceptable!! we come here to ......
Kaja's lip curled.
"He talks too much... I don't like him" said Kaja
Seiko shrugged, still embarrassed from earlier.
-Have you left the red room for this?...with our training that test is child's play for us, Seiko...
-Shhh
Kaja rolled her eyes and slumped back in her chair.
-Wait....-Seiko whispered.-Do you also participate?
Kaya nodded.
-Wherever you go I go, my friend... I also have to watch you
Seiko frowned.
-We'll talk about it
Kaja shrugged as she looked at her identification to take the exam.
-OKAY!!!! Candidate 71111!! you're right!! this is a special type of villain that does not give points!! they are to be, so,just let them be.... they tend to appear in places with little space, and are scattered throughout all areas! so.....I would tell you to ignore them!! you can beat them, but that doesn't give any points...
The boy sat down, and present mic kept talking.
-For my part, everything has already been said! as Napoleon Bonaparte said!! ...a hero is one who perseveres in the face of misfortune!! Good luck to all, and PLUS ULTRAAAAAAA!!!
