I hope you people are ready for just how much there is about lockwood's hands in deck the halls part 9 because there's a lot of reader just... looking at them and being distracted
(and yes there's a healthy amount of lockwood wearing a ring don't you worry)

I’m a writer, I’ve been around for a while (more than a decade) and I want to know how do you deal with seeing people who are much more talented than what you think you are capable of being? It’s made me want to completely quit writing multiple times. Everyone I’ve talked to always says don’t, they love my stuff but when it comes time to read my work or actually support it… they don’t. They support other people works though. It makes me feel like it’s not even worth sharing. I love writing and if anything, I wouldn’t stop but I would stop sharing. It makes me very sad, so how do I deal with it? People say I should write for myself and I do but I also want to share and I don’t believe wanting people to like what I write makes me a bad person…
I'm so sorry, anon. I wish other writers (or all creators, really) would constantly support each other. I have read people say they only read and support "quality work". These things don't sting, they fucking hurt.
I haven't found the magic formula yet either. I wish I could help you more - and better. All I can do is support you and hope you continue to create and share. Where would we be if people stopped sharing?
It doesn't make you a bad person at all. We want to be heard when we share our creations. I always feel this so much during the fic exchanges. I try to read them all because yes, there are so many fics, but people have sat there, created beautiful, meaningful stories, and they deserve to be read.
None of this answers your question. I don't know how to deal with it either. There are days when I think, it's okay. Others when like you, I think, why even bother to share? And I know it's just another corny saying, but you never know who your story touches. There might be someone out there who needs to read what you have to say.
Take care, anon ❤️

3 and 5 if you haven't answered them already. I'm trying to get back into writing too but aaaugh why don't the ideas in my brain just magically turn to finished written works? Unfair
Hey, Andy! Thanks for passing by. And right??? So unfair. I know the struggle so well. Crying real tears these days begging the words to just get themselves on the page already. (That said, though! If you need to brainstorm or just through ideas at me, if you think it would help, don't hesitate! (And hope that writing includes our berlermo or any of our favorites from this fucked up show👀)
Deep Fic Asks
3. what fic are you emotionally attached to?
Ah, difficult one! I think I'm attached to most of them in different ways. I'd say though, the most ones would be Sunshine and Lights. In spite of their different endings, those are the ones with a faint line of a faint line of tragedy that makes me attached to them. The versions of the characters in both fics are the versions I'm most attached to and feel the most for.
5. What fic of your own won't you read?
That would be War haha. Like I'm very happy with a lot of the ideas in there. But it's a very messy fic. And back then, I didn't even particularly think to edit LMFAO. I was just writing and posting. I think it's structurally messy and over the place, it should have been a tighter narrative. Also the writing mistakes, the typos, etc are very cringe sysywis. I'm still fine with how the characters were written, but it was also a time I was still figuring out the characters and the fic itself was a tool of mine to do so, so while I'm mostly fine with it, I don't think I would make all the choices for them now I made then. I'd definitely still end it the same way though lol. The final chapter is the only one that I go back and re-read.

the fact that shakespeare was a playwright is sometimes so funny to me. just the concept of the "greatest writer of the English language" being a random 450-year-old entertainer, a 16th cent pop cultural sensation (thanks in large part to puns & dirty jokes & verbiage & a long-running appeal to commoners). and his work was made to be watched not read, but in the classroom teachers just hand us his scripts and say "that's literature"
just...imagine it's 2450 A.D. and English Lit students are regularly going into 100k debt writing postdoc theses on The Simpsons screenplays. the original animation hasn't even been preserved, it's literally just scripts and the occasional SDH subtitles.txt. they've been republished more times than the Bible

Do you guys notice how when Shawn Fain, president of the United Auto Workers union, started planning a general strike, he did it by a) targeting his messaging towards unions with the ability to safely and effectively strike in large numbers, b) laid out a clear, actionable plan for those unions to follow (setting contracts to all expire at the same time, since many unions cannot strike while under contract), c) is using union contracts to set clear, actionable demands that can be met in order to gauge success and provide an end goal, and d) started organizing FOUR YEARS before the proposed strike date to give people the chance to plan accordingly, because it takes a really freaking long time to get tens of millions of people organized?
You notice how he didn't do it by slapping a message on Twitter saying 'hey nobody go to work on Monday, that'll really show 'em'?

A Master Study featuring Zelda II: The Adventure of Link. In which Link hangs out with the two Zeldas post-game (Who do you think became the Queen of Hyrule?)
This was a difficult piece, but I'm happy with it!
Based on 'The Chess Players' by Jacques-Clément Wagrez (1902)
Information on inspiration and process under the cut!
Original piece: "The Chess Players" by Jacques-Clément Wagrez (1846-1908).
The moment I saw this artwork I immediately thought of Zelda II. One of the women is wearing a medieval-esque red velvet dress, and she looks a lot like the design I made for the cursed princess Zelda!
I thought it would be very fitting to reimagine this artwork in a Zelda II context, so I went ahead with it! doubles as a master study and LoZ fanart.
I learnt a LOT from making this piece! Since I worked on it digitally, I got and made brushes that acted as close to traditional brushes, and I also worked on the entire piece in one layer. So whenever I made a mistake, I'd have to paint over. No return. But it was a big learning experience! Learnt more about rendering silk and velvet by observing how they are painted and blended in the original.
Here are some WIP shots! It took a long time to get to where it is now xD It was difficult to finally pen down the right proportions and placement. I probably should've done a grid copy, but I opted to just eyeing it out all the way through. It was... hard. (lesson learnt?)
I read that in a lot of older pieces, they are made in greyscale, then flat colours are overlaid on top. makes rendering much easier. and it truly has! I probably should’ve rendered the greyscale version even more. Since there were still a lot of mistakes that I had to rework and adjust while colouring.
Very fruitful experience overall, and I’m just happy to make a grand-scale Zelda II artwork xD I’ve never seen one so I made it!!!
