Sometimes I go back to the stories I’ve written and abandoned and I read it as I contemplate why I dropped it (I always do drop it) because it’s decent enough, and it’s good enough, but then I realize as I read them and thought about them, the same inspiration didn’t reach me. So I close it off, left for good until someday I get the urge to look at them again randomly, or maybe not have internet to do other things, and think, “Why didn’t I finish this?”

i really do have to emphasize that like. horny tumblr is a fucking horrible place to learn about kink. at least half the people here have never had sex (or done kink without sex) beyond sexting on omegle, and even the ones who do have any experience with sex and and kink and IRL kink spaces (including myself!) are mostly engaging in fantasy and theatre and performance. that's fine! that's fun! there's nothing wrong with that. but i do worry so much about all the 18 yr olds i see on here who've never had sex, many of whom have never been in a relationship, and who are building ideas about kink and sex and health based on the most deranged fantasy-of-the-sort-you-literally-cannot-do-safely-irl tumblr posts. The way some of y'all talk about Luke Newton is just. . .I need this fandom to check itself with a swiftness, because the very thinly veiled ableism is ENOUGH. Like it is WILD to see, in the year of our lord 2024, people either actively infantalizing or talking down this grown man.

Calling Luke Newton stupid for behaviors that are just him displaying his Neurodivergence? Ableism. Saying it because it takes him longer to answer a question is ableism. Saying it because he said something 'incorrectly' or not as eloquently on the fly as his neurotypical costars? Ableism.

Saying he's boring because he's quiet or he doesn't talk as much (because he often needs more processing time and/or has anxiety to surmount) is ableism. Knitpicking his social media and how he doesn't interact as much with a fandom that has actively been cruel to him is ableism.

Assuming Luke is out here like some helpless little lamb clinging to Nicola because 'oh, she's his comfort person!' instead of recognizing that they both lean on and like each other? Is ableism. Saying he has a one sided infatuation with her BECAUSE he needs her as said comfort person is ableism. Essentially being all 'awwww, poor wee baby, he has anxiety so thankfully his neurotypical costar is there to pick up the slack!' is. ableism. You cannot in one breath say that Nicola's love language is touch but also that Luke is the only one ever reaching to hold her hand because he needs her to ground him. That's ableism.

They both like each other. They have a very close relationship and they both clearly admire the other and like to be around one another. To frame it as him being some inept toddler and her as his more capable caretaker and 'thank God he has her to give him the save' is ableism! That's ableism, babes!! And in many cases people don't recognize that's what they're taking part in, but that's what it is.

He is a grown man and a hell of an actor. Yes, he's quieter than some of his costars. Yes, he contemplates what he says in his mind before he says it, and it takes him some time to do so. Yes, he doesn't behave the way his neurotypical peers do. He doesn't have to. He won't- because he has a neurodivergent brain. And he shouldn't have to behave as a neurotypical person or an 'acceptable' neurodivergent person to have respect from people who claim to be his fans.

He's been outspoken and unapologetic about being a neurodivergent actor with ADHD and dyslexia and how that can contribute to difficulties in the current media machine. He has discussed his coping mechanisms. He has specifically done so because he knows how difficult it can be to be a neurodivergent person in the limelight, and he uses that spotlight to show other neurodivergent actors they can be successful, too. And people saw this openly neurodivergent man and said some mad out of pocket nonsense about him.

As the tour comes to a close, I just really need people to look back on their beliefs and viewpoints during it and do some reflection, because I am side-eying a LOT of takes that have gone largely uncontested.

is it just me or i desperately want Robin's mentoring to be toward Mike.

like i completely understand why Will could receive help from Robin, since he's coming to terms with his sexuality, just like Robin had to do, but he already has an older, mentor-like figure in his life. Jonathon, my beloved!!! sure, Jonathon probably doesn't understand everything about Will's feelings, but Will doesn't need help with understanding himself because i'm pretty sure he knows damn well who he is. he just needs help realising that that doesn't make him a 'mistake'.

Mike, on the other hand, is, in my opinion, pretty fucking clueless. confused, too. i feel like he'd definitely benefit more from some gay mentoring, in order for him to navigate his feelings a little better. because i just don't think he has any idea.. he has always been the 'oblivious' one.

to be honest, i'd be even happier if Robin somehow mentored both. and in no way am i implying this would take over her entire plot for season 5, as i know people get pretty mad about that !!

I finally read the Screaming Staircase book and while it's been fun to compare and contrast it against the 3 episode Netflix arc, there is one book moment that is clearly superior.

At the end of episode, when Skull speaks to Lucy for the first time. Lucy is so overcome by the psychic connection that she full on faints requiring George and Lockwood to carry her upstairs. I'd accepted that until I read the novel in which Lucy hears this gross this ghost man whisper weird shit from within his glass prison about life and death and whatever. And Luce - who'd just run downstairs to grab extra treats for their impromptu celebration - says "nah I'm not dealing with this today" closes the jars speaking valve and leaves.

I will always support Lucy Carlyle being That Crazy Bitch and I love her So Much.

I didn’t sketch as much as the last time cuz the heat was killing me. The heat was killing all of us tbh. Not many people showed up thus there’s only so much material. So I fucked off to do more reading.

I find it funny how much the Narrator was triggered by Marla. Besides him being irritated by her subconsciously calling him out on his bs and sending him on a guilt spiral, I get the impression that he’s just rattled by the presence of femininity. He couldn’t cry when Chloe held him, he stopped being able to sleep when Marla started showing up, only men whose level of victimization he thought he could relate to did it for him.

Speaking of Chloe, her ranting her freaks to the Narrator when she’s a hair away from death is like your body’s last hurrah before giving out entirely. The parts of her sobbing talking about handcuffs and oil actually cracked me up. She’s such a hysterical character, I love her so much. She deserved better.

Btw, this is the song that was playing in my head. It’s been my summer anthem since forever. They really don’t make Kpop hits with personality anymore. Different aesthetics? Yeah. But with distinction? Nahhh.

This is my first time attempting a comic… I don’t think I did a very good job, but I at least wanted to try it out because this is something I’ve wanted to share and talk about…

I’ve been thinking a lot about my past and future recently, especially as it revolves around my identity… and my health.

I never thought I’d make it to 20, especially not in the environment I grew up in. But I did it. I made it.

You can make it, too. Despite the things you hear, despite the way you’re treated. If you’re true to yourself, if you’re honest, if you’re able to come to terms with who you are… it’s because, somewhere, deep down, you want to live. You want to be happy.

So do that.

My transformation and transition was about survival so that I could see a day in which I was happy and comfortable and content, despite what I’ve been told and what has been done to me. I deserve it. I’m worth it.

I’m excited to be able to someday find that in myself and believe it a hundred percent.

I’m excited to live and finally feel alive.
