Was waiting for Worlds Finest Teen Titans to arrive in person to read it and it just did yesterday so here’s my favourite parts:
Evan Doc Shaners covers are AMAZING and I’m getting all of them
Cuties!!!!
“Plus my home life is awesome. All is great.” … Roy, baby…
I was like, odd that Ollie isn’t saying anything and then Mark Waid just shot me in the chest with an atomic warhead arrow
Omg she’s so cute!!! Save the bees!!!!!! (Especially this one)
“You brought another drone?” Absolutely killed me, Roy is SUCH as ass in this comic I love it
Roy if you don’t apologise to him RIGHT NOW!!
He’s so baby, I love him

i’m watching wayne’s world and that’s one of my favorite movies. i was ten when i first saw it and i was garth for halloween one year. but i realize i really like silly little autistic-seeming music guys who have control over the narrative in the movie/television world they live in but really only use that control for gags because they’re kinda just vibing.
like the monkees and wayne’s world are so weirdly similar in those ways.
also, they make a reference to a group called ‘the jolly green giants’ playing at the gasworks and i’m gonna take that as a monkees reference.

what I read
Here are some interesting things I’ve read lately:
This long, meandering interview with Anthony Bourdain that feels like more of a conversation between friends than an interview.
The Limits of the Viral Book Review
On Mr. Beast And Being Alone In A Circle For 100 Days
A Devotional Temperament: A Conversation with Garth Greenwell
‘I don’t know exactly where it came from, but it seems like for years now there has been a cultural trend of, oh, what to call it? Let’s say “therapy-flavored everything.” Not considering another person’s needs becomes “self-care.” Avoiding conflict becomes “radical softness,” or something. The colors and figures of the ads on the subway are all but kneeling down and cooing over me while rubbing my back, saying, “there, there,”’ from A Sweet Guy Broke My Heart—containing this nugget and more truths we all need to hear.
How Bones and All Pulled Off Its Bizarro Love Story (wonderful insight into storytelling here by David Kajganich)
Transcript: Ezra Klein Interviews Ted Chiang
On Charlotte Lucas’s choice (this made me cry, don’t even ask)
Digital platforms are struggling, meanwhile a 136-year-old book retailer is growing again. But why?

Yes I’ve been reading the 1960s Teen Titans yes I love all of them but especially Aqualad (poor Aqualad) yes I actually do like how Wonder Girl sees anyone she thinks is attractive and immediately starts flirting but is also the powerhouse and heavy hitter of the group yes I love Robin being called “Robin Bobbin” yes I love him saying “quick like a bunny” multiple times (Aqualad: “Quick like a bunnyfish! …I don’t think bunnyfish are real.”) yes Kid Flash is adorable but I just
Their little sweaters!!! So cute!!! I died reading this one, good God, the way they all wear these sweaters for as long as they possibly can!! Robin either a.) pulled it on over his cape and had to untuck his cape and fix his collar and everything or b.) put his cape on over the sweater. I honestly can’t imagine either one being less cute than the other, why are they so cute???

Learning Garth Brooks made We Shall Be Free as a song against homophobia and racism in 1992, and that his bar is a safe place for lgbt+ is not something I thought I’d find out when I woke up to go to the bathroom at 3:30 am, but here I am emotional in the bathroom at 3:40 am, trying not cry about how my favorite country singer is inclusive and supportive of me (and my community).
