Judging from the first episode, the premise seems to be--

Lonely rich girl Queen hires two girls via an app to keep her company. During the day, she first hires Sea who cooks for her and treats her like a girlfriend, then later that night she hires Bam to go out partying together. Queen unexpectedly ends up taking Bam home with her - to take care of the drunk girl! In the morning as Bam is leaving Queen's house, Bam runs into Sea and it seems the two know each other...?

i love darkness and edginess in kh absolutely and i think the deeply philosophical introspective examinations on what it means to be human aka existential dread and all that lends itself to a bit of horror easily and i love seeing it utilized to its fullest potential. ultimately though what i want is something comforting and reassuring at the end of the day- like what nomura said about the series reflecting his belief that ‘the heart is never truly gone’. how you might lose people but they’re always a part of you. i will be happy no matter where the series goes as long as it fundamentally comes back to love and human connection. it’s really beautiful the way the story gets so incredibly dark but it always manages to come back to the light somehow- whether it’s a classic disney happily ever after, or something more akin to other storytellers where something is absolutely lost but it’s still a good ending, y’know? instead of everything being saccharine you get hurt and you grow because of it and new beauty blooms. kh really delivers on that front and i want it to stay that way forever

I’m not someone that particularly cares about a ship being canon or not, in fact I would rather the media I consume have no romance at all (giving my blog confusing yes I know)

But there is something about the canon ties between Shanks and Mihawk that drives me feral with need to see what their whole deal is.

Because like there are so many little inconsequential details that when taking separately seem pathetic and weak. But then put together it feels like it paints the picture of a larger undeniable connection and understanding between two wildly different men.

The fact that their main color is both red (Mihawk’s is a more wine dark red than Shanks’ bright red and a little more “subtle” given that Shanks is literally called red hair) but even then their main symbols, their identifying features, are red! Mihawk’s eyes and Shanks hair (yes while I love the gold and think that’s better I cannot ignore the fact that Oda consistently colors in Mihawk’s eyes red even though the gold is infinitely more popular)

They have the same birthday, are practically the same height, both with the promises to our two main protagonists to meet them at the top with a parting “gift”, both serve as a mentor to the protagonist (mihawk literally thought zoro how to kill him 😭), both with the bird(ish) iconography.

The fact that Mihawk, Mihawk! A man whose introduction was that he didn’t care much about anything and caused destruction on a whim, cares enough about what Shanks thinks to mentally apologize before trying to kill luffy (what the fuck).

The fact that whitebeard felt the need to reference his duel with Mihawk in his conversation with Shanks, despite not really being very relevant to the conversation and the fact that this is the first we’ve seen shanks in years and it is brought up in the same context as his relationship with Buggy (an already established relationship) reveals his relationship to Roger seems to point to the fact that this duel between Mihawk and Shanks is an important relationship to shanks. It couldn’t just be to show strength because he was about to clash with whitebeard the strongest man. It’s also hard to notice that those two relationships didn’t end particularly well for shanks.

Also the fact that it was Mihawk out of every character , Mihawk that brought luffy’s bounty to Shanks. Something he obviously knew would mean a lot to him. I used to think the scene was just there to show us how big a deal Shanks actually is like look at that fun childish alcoholic gang inspired our main hero? He’s actually a super big deal and he used to spar with the strongest character by far we had seen at that point (it wasn’t even close) and they fought on equal footing. It added a new layer of mystery to Shanks.

But it’s also the fact that even now with Mihawk’s bounty Shanks was mentioned and he’s the only one who this was mentioned for. Crocodile is just for his df and intelligence and they don’t mention that he literally tried and almost succeeded in subjugating a country and he was beat by luffy “or smoker given how many marines actually know the truth” even buggy who was literally Shanks’ sworn brother under the pirate king doesn’t get a mention like that. But Shanks and this duel is so integral to Mihawk’s character that it’s mentioned along with the only other long lasting fact we know about him and that is that he is the World’s Strongest Swordsman. Isn’t that fucking insane.

And like I feel insane scrapping all these details together as proof of something because they are all (besides the duel) the barest bones of a connection but god it is actually driving me insane.

And I’m not saying Mishanks is going to become canon or that it should or that I even particularly want it too. What I do want is to see how deeply these two are connected. What are these red strings of fate tying them to each other. Why can’t apparently ten years of little contact sever it? I swear to god if it’s actually nothing much I will lose my fucking mind. If nothing ever comes of all of this I will actually go insane. How can some people look at this and not see foreshadowing!?!?!!

Faifa deserved to have better friends in the show! Because they didn't give him that, I think Yotha is just bearing the brunt of the show deciding Faifa only needed (romantic) "love" to be "seen". And Yotha is sadly the only one who talks about Faifa constantly enough to have to deal with it.

Listen, I love this show, especially the faifawine arc (honestly, because of the faifawine arc!). But this arc uses a storyline that I hate so much- "you just haven't met the right person" and somehow handles it so beautifully! Because the concept isn't that Wine was enough to change Faifa, it is that they loved each other enough to be a positive influence on each other. And that I 100% believe in and will always eat up!

But Faifa had virtually no friends in figuring anything out!! He is a very private person, obviously, he bottles everything up! And this arc was supposed to be about him not doing that anymore.

They made it a point to show us how often Faifa shows up for other people (which is constantly) and that is the reason most of us fell in love with him.

And when his arc started I was really excited about him finding love, but I was soooo excited to see Phuri, who was apparently his only real friend!

Louis is a delight in this show! Steals every scene he is in. What Phuri unfortunately isn't, is a good friend to Fa (at least he doesn't have enough screentime to prove otherwise). I love their playful banter, but he doesn't even do as much as Ben and Jay!

No one shows up for Faifa except Wine.

And Yotha- he shows up for Faifa when there is an external conflict. He's never been good with emotions.

I mean, he was so bad with Gun, Arm and Fa had to play mediator. So it's not a shock that he doesn't see Faifa is in soo much pain because of what their mom did. Yotha understands anger; he doesn't understand sadness over something that should make Fa angry.

And I think that's why he's getting so much flak. I think he's getting a disproportionate amount of hate (and defence) for what is happening to Faifa. But I'm still mad at Yotha, and this is why I feel justified about it.

I'm mad at Yotha because I want Faifa to be mad at Yotha. Because Yotha might be the safest person for Faifa to show his anger to, and he's too scared to do that, too! They are brothers, and it doesn't matter if it wasn't Yotha's responsibility to inform Fai of anything about his mother's flight being delayed- Yotha knew, and that alone should let Faifa be whiny and angry- but he wasn't.

I am angry because having a fight, showing you're upset, and knowing that your relationship is stronger than that is a privilege - one that Faifa doesn't seem to allow himself to have. If he has it with anyone, it should be with Yotha (or Phuri, if the show gave him anything to do at all, but I digress).

We, as the audience, have seen Yotha, we know him, and we know he loves Faifa. And knowing he loved Fa makes it so much worse that he still doesn't feel loved or wanted. I don't think Yotha is a bad brother or a bad character. In fact, I'm angry because he's a well-written character!

It just seems like the show decided that he is going to be a Gun simp and nothing else. And that falls back into another trope I hate. Being in a romantic relationship is not an excuse to ignore everyone in your life. Priorities can change, but not to the extent that you only have one priority! Yotha is a better brother than that, and I think we deserve to see that side of him as well!

Hear me out. Instead of aa7, I'd rather have two different games that follow on after aa6 - an athena cykes game, and an apollo justice game

It would finally give athena her chance to shine in the spotlight !!! and also i think it would work well since the athena game would be in japanifornia and the apollo game would be in khura'in since he now has his own law office.

I don't really see how a potential aa7 could work?? Like I don't see how they can reuse the whole, playing as apollo, athena, AND phoenix in a game anymore (which is terrible btw i hate that you dont just play as one character). Unless they just completely retire apollo and give us an athena cykes game which icl I would still be very happy with because I think she deserves to have her own game

They should retire phoenix as a playable protag. Bringing him back as a playable character was one of the worst things imo. He should've stayed as both athena and apollo's mentor. I dont mind the fact that he becomes a lawyer again after aa4, I just really REALLY dont want to play as him again. I love phoenix but theres really no reason for us to play as him again anymore.

Also having an apollo justice game would, hear me out, maybe give capcom a chance to perhaps... make an actual sequel to aa4??? Even if its something like a small flashback sequence where we get to see more of apollo annd kristoph's relationship as student and mentor before turnabout trump. And also I think that klavier should be a part of the main cast, maybe not as the main prosecutor but i defo think him and apollo deserve to have their own turnabout goodbyes moment if you know what I mean. I just want to see more of apollo and klavier interacting together and just MORE KLAVIER IN GENERAL.

It's an idea that I don't really see happening but also I personally think it's the best way to carry on the mainline games after aa6, and also the only way I can think of having a game that is a kinda? sequel? to aa4 or at least actually addresses some of the unexplored details in aa4, without having to completely scrap aa5 and aa6.

If anything I'd just love ace attorney to stop doing the "you don't have to play the previous games to play this one!!" thing. The reason why aa3 is so good is because there are so many elements and characters and events that are introduced to you in both of the previous games and it's so satisfying to see it all come together in an amazing final conclusion by the end of aa3. AND I MISS THAT!!! :(

any thoughts on shiemi? I really love her, especially the way she wants to move the moments in which she was vulnerable. (I do feel like her character suffers a bit from being the love interest and that might just be my preferences but) I love how she's a very kind person without it being unrealistic (her reaction to rin immediately post amaimon)

I have so many thoughts on Shiemi, and each new chapter is just giving me more.

I adore her, and I adore the arc Kato has given her. I love how shy and uncertain she starts out and how much she just doesn't understand friendships and the complexities with which people navigate those sort of relationships. I like her naivety about the world and how that allows her courage and kindness to shine through.

I love that we get small hints that she was traumatized when she was little through some kind of difficult and likely violent trauma (chapter 130-131) and that it gives us a good reason for why she's so sheltered and for why she's so timid about being around others.

I love that her first act of friendship is giving someone a clover and a nickname, and that when she makes her second friend she apologizes to him for misjudging him by immediately putting him to work in her garden because she loves it best and it's a way to show she's open to him and she doesn't realize or get that most people don't enjoy that kind of thing. (Manure hands? What's the problem with that? I wiped it off. xD)

It hurts my heart how much she gets bullied by Izumo and how much she doesn't call her out for her cruelty, but Shiemi wouldn't be her if she did. She's a gardener and used to dealing with thorns and prickly plants and stubborn plants and is patient. She can and will take hits to make something flourish, even if she really shouldn't.

I think she's absolutely the best team player in the group, and the strongest ally that none of them even have to wonder for a second if she'll be there. She's usually one of the first, if not the first, to step up in a problem and begin by defending, and she never flaunts or acts like it was something to be boastful of. She is wicked powerful and goes through most of the manga not even really realizing it. She's a defender and a healer and not necessarily the offense, and those roles are often overlooked but none of them would be alive without her vital aid.

I can understand where you might think she suffers for being the love interest, but I don't particularly see it that way. Sure, Rin sees her (at least at first) primarily as someone to date and make out with, but she has a lot more depth with Rin than that, and Kato having her be slow to realize her own heart and affections has allowed her to lean on him as a friend first and develop into something else. She's always there and willing to call him away from the violent parts of himself and self loathing and despair that can consume him. She's willing to reach out a hand to anyone who needs her and pull them back up even if it gets her hurt in the process.

She's clumsy, and often a bit too emotional for her situations, but she's honest about who she is and that encourages the others to do the same. There wasn't anyone else, even Paku, that Izumo would have felt quite so safe to break down in front of. There wasn't anyone else that could have reached for Rin and embraced him and his flames and made him realize there were hands reaching out for him. There's no one else Yukio could have gone to so many times for comfort and guidance.

I love that when she knows she's going to have to leave them all for a while, she gives each of her friends a charm that later saves their lives, because that's who she is. Even when she can't be by their sides, she's defending them and healing and helping.

And god, her relationship with Amaimon? So complicated and dangerous and layered with multitudes of power dynamics, most of which aren't healthy, and half buried secrets and things we've barely glimpsed, and the way he's introduce leads to violence against her, and then he captures her, and we see later on that she could watch all of that attack happening while she was under his influence. I can't imagine being forced to just watch while my friends are hurt and I'm used against my friend, stuck seated on his arm without the ability to move at all.

Agh.

And then there's the current stuff we're getting into with who she really is and why he's at the school and so tied to her, and gosh the layers to it are delicious. Kato has done so much with and for her and it's so often overlooked.

She suffers some with the animes -- everyone does, of course -- but I think hers is from a lack of the quieter moment and the thoughts she has. She's a well rounded and complex character, and being kind and soft doesn't negate either of those things. She's also immensely strong, physically, of course, but also emotionally and mentally. She's often the first one to call Rin out on his tendency to go it alone and push people away, and will listen when people need her too which a lot of people can't do.

Her struggle in the Kyoto arc I also feel deeply. I get the pain of thinking you were close to summon and thinking they relied on you and then finding out it was all wrong, and having it confirmed twice? Once when Rin denies they're friends at all and then to have all of that revealed and it turn out you didn't know either of the two people you'd consider your closest friends? To just want to help and to be so stuck in your own head and so certain you're not strong or smart enough to do that?

I love her and her weedy spirit and can't wait to see what all she's going to do.

The trying to see if he can get Chen Zhongli back and the holding the body hostage thing feels like it comes a bit out of nowhere. If I remember correctly he even talked about how he doubts he survived because of the drowning death. Can you explain a bit of his thought process here? Cuz it feels a bit left field. I love the chapter and I will be going insane about it. But I’m still a bit confused where this thought came from. Zhongli in general here feels… very willing to die though. So I suppose it isn’t too surprising

i think the reason it feels out of left field for you might be because you're remembering that very scene you pointed out wrong

the 'doubts he survived bc of the drowning death' scene isn't like. about czl not surviving. that scene is about how zl is of the belief that czl can't be in his teyvat bc his body explodes upon death, n so there would be no body for czl to go to there specifically if it were a bodyswap scenario. the 'he would just die again bc i drowned' bit was him trying to tell the others how it wouldn't be possible without spilling the beans about there being no body to swap into. he's not lying about czl drowning again if he were to spawn in zl's body while it's at the bottom of the ocean, but the issue here is (and this is what he wanted to omit from the others): that there is no body. at least there isn't supposed to be one.

not to mention that scene was on the scenario were it is indeed a bodyswap situation, which zl is fairly convinced it isn't

genuinely i think i've been p thorough on keeping zl straight on the fact that he doesn't actually know wtf happened to czl (in the terms of like. where his soul is. obv he knows now what happened to him as in how he died lol). please the rest of you correct me if i'm wrong if i ever slipped up n gave that impression, but as far as the story has gotten rn, zl has no idea where czl is. he has no clue. the only things he does know about that issue is that 1) he's not in the body with him and 2) he's not in his body in his teyvat bc. again. no body

of ten’s companions, if the doctor couldn’t handle losing them and crossed his own timeline to trick them into traveling with future!him instead of past!him so that he’d have a little more time with them:

rose would do it. first because bless her but she has the situational awareness of a rock, and legitimately would not realize this isn’t her doctor until his facade starts to break down and he starts bleeding grief-laced love for her at every turn. but once she does realize it, she’s both deeply sympathetic and a little scared that she could make him into this. it’s a lot to be confronted with having that much power over someone, to break them so thoroughly. rose would try to get back to her doctor, but while she’s with the future version, she tries to do what she can to ease his pain. (she also tries to figure out a way to subvert her fate. she fails.)

i think martha would be harder to trick. she can smell desperation on the doctor like a bloodhound. she is so tapped into the fact that this man wants to off himself so bad and that she’s 90% of his self-restraint, so present her with a doctor who is lacking that and she’s onto him immediately. however, assuming he gets her to come with him, explains why he’s doing this, there’s like. a minute where she’s kind of. not flattered exactly, but surprised, giddy with the realization that he’d come back for a little more time with her, especially if this is early season 3 martha. which would all come crashing down around the time that he reveals that he wasn’t pushed to this by losing her to some tragedy or her death or anything- but that she chose to leave. that is the point at which martha goes ‘oh i need to get the fuck off of this tardis right now’ and ghosts the past!doctor that she was also traveling with because holy shit, man.

donna, like rose, is easily bamboozled into following the wrong doctor home, provided that he shuffles her along into his tardis too fast for her to argue. but she catches on far quicker than rose does. like, three minutes tops of watching the doctor move through the tardis in a way that’s definitely not enthusiastic piloting and looks more like guilty panic. and then she yells at him for lying to her. and she yells at him for kidnapping her. and then she stops yelling because he’s gone sort of still and quiet and his eyes are just broken. and he doesn’t explain himself, he confesses. donna is going to try to stay with him after this btw. because how do you go back to looking your best friend in the eyes when you know he’d take everything you’ve become away from you, even to save your life? and this is still the doctor, he still did that to her, but he regrets it. regrets it so much that he can’t live with it, he’s breaking time and space just to hear her say his name again. and donna doesn’t want to lose him anymore than he wanted to lose her.
