Holy crap. Finally home safe and sound and I am so ecstatic! First time flying. First time in New York City. First time seeing Beetlejuice the Musical and I loved every flipping moment of it! We had front row seats on September 30th. My friends managed to slap me dead ass center and it was absolutely amazing. I couldn’t be happier having Alex standing literally a foot away from me. He truly is a living cartoon character as I’ve always said and seeing him so close just proves it. He’s has so much expression and his mannerisms are great! I’m not sure what all changes have been noted but a few of the things that got me: He yelled “WAASSUUUUUUUUP!” when he popped out from behind the couch. During his exit he sang “Jason Derulo” and during the second show we saw he yelled “FUCK BRIGADOON!” We had eight people in our front row group and our friend, Marq, was Alex’s target for the evening. We did not forewarn him about this and it was amazing seeing Marq’s reaction. He and his girlfriend absolutely enjoyed it and it was a great birthday gift to her. Marq got a kiss blown to him by Alex at curtain call. Something I’m quite envious of. Marq made sure to blow one back which appeared to make Alex very happy 😆 My friend, Gou, nearly got pelted by the cup that Alex threw which took her off guard, but she wishes it would have landed in front of her. During curtain call I pulled my phone out to record. Elizabeth saw me recording and pointed at me twice while she did her dance at the end! She’s too precious and I absolutely love her! My best friend’s husband, who hates musicals and was not keen on the idea of visiting NYC, only agreed to go see Beetlejuice the Musical because the movie is one of his absolute favorites. He went in expecting disappointment but left laughing and saying he absolutely wants to see it again but only front row. He also absolute adored Alex. In my book this is a total SUCKS YES! We saw the show again on the 2nd. Act 1 was full of goofups but I love seeing goofs in live shows! Almost lost the handbook to the trap door and Alex just stared at it for a minute. It was hanging on by a thread. The squeaky sound effect when Betelgeuse gooses Adam didn’t go off. The suicide note didn’t ignite. Delia’s dress didn’t attach to the pig so her dress never unraveled. Gou told me, during Act 2, the sound effect for Adam knocking on the door at the end of the show didn’t match up to David’s motion. Alex also blessed the audience with a very loud “WHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!” at the end of That Beautiful Sound that had the audience responding similarly 😂 The free swag for Sunday was a slap bracelet lol I didn’t get an October Playbill which made me sad. THEY HAVE SANDWORM PLUSHES NOW!! I also got to go see Curtain Up very close to the front and hear Alex and Elizabeth perform Say My Name. They did a brief interview as well. Alex was a goof, as always, and Elizabeth was just adorable! I took more time, the second show, to really look at the mural. I was dragged back to my own piece by Gou and my best friend’s aunt because they saw someone taking photos of my artwork. They insisted on telling them I was the artist and we had a brief discussion about it. It made me happy hearing that they loved my piece enough to take a photo to send to a friend! I was then asked to take a photo of a family in front of the mural only for my best friend’s aunt to insist they sit in front of my piece. I hate bringing attention to myself but they were so confused as to why she was making them move that I had to explain to them why she was doing it and I apologized. But instead the insisted that I not take their photo but instead get in the photo with them and it was really sweet! I don’t know what else to say except this has been amazing and I’m so happy I got to see it before the show closes in January. I wish I could see it one last time but I will forever cherish what I got.

Gently, I set the rescued snacks back where they belonged. “Hell if I know. Grey didn’t even send me a topic when they requested this meeting.  Did Tyche send you the protocol for those kind of meetings?”

Dead on time, the door signaled before opening.

“Good day, Sophia,” Grey nodded as they entered. The reality was that the door defaulted to opening for all of my peers, but Grey was extremely fastidious about ‘knocking’ first. “Miss Fletcher.”

“You can call me Parvati,” came the polite reply. First name, but not her nickname - no appearance of being overly familiar. Grey nodded in acquiescence but did not offer their own first name.

I stepped forward to clasp hands before gesturing to the conference table. “Hey, Grey. I appreciate the advanced notice of the meeting, but I’m not sure what exactly you need our help with.”

“Always to the point,” Grey sighed. “I appreciate it.”

“Save the social graces for our next night out,” I winked, gently kicking Parvati as her eyes widened when Grey took the entire plate of meat and cheese snacks.

My peer nodded, tipping their head to one side slightly. “As your office, along with everyone else on the Ark, is aware, we are less than six Terran months out from Von and our new colony.” With a flick, a file was sent to the table emitter so that Grey could munch with one hand and gesture with the other. “While we were in transit, my office coordinated with our hosts to do the best we could as far as training the entire Ark in basic first aid, progressing up through advanced medical care as ability and willingness were demonstrated.”

A list of names appeared, then several were struck through and removed. The cycle repeated with each smaller list until roughly one hundred names were left.  “I remember,” I murmured with a nod. “I made it through improvised one-way valves and minor field amputations.”

Out of the corner of my eye, Parvati shuddered. If I remembered correctly, she had dropped out of the voluntary courses right after advanced first aid - admittedly, nothing to sneer at. And gods only knew she got plenty of practice in giving me stitches over the years.

Grey gestured to the list and continued. “These hundred and sixteen have technically passed Terran medical school, and all are certified in several specialties.”

Parvati snagged the list and ran it against her personnel files with a low whistle. “I know you don’t exaggerate, Councilor Hodenson, but you are almost selling them short.  How did they manage so much in so little time?”

“A combination of pre-existing education, determination, and nearly nine years of community shifts and leisure days.”

“Speedrunning med school, I see,” I muttered. “Grey, you don’t need me to give them a medical degree. We are Terra as far as we know, and right now that makes you the Medical Board. Or Antoine. I’m not entirely sure how you handle that.” With a deep breath, I forged back on track. “Point being, this isn’t the point of this meeting.”

Grey set the plate down and pushed it towards us, five poor pitiful snacks left. “With the updated data we are receiving in regards to Von, even this list of candidates is woefully unprepared.  We will not have Hujylsogox technology, or even twenty-first century Terran technology available on Von.” They started pacing, and my stomach suddenly hit the deck.

Grey Hodenson did not pace. This wasn’t good news.

“The knowledge will still be there, but we have a very short time to adapt a significant amount of technology to be able to meet the level of care we expect to need once we are planetside.”

“How significant, Grey?” I asked hesitantly.  Parvati was staring intently, fingers flying to mark pieces of the recording to pull out for various releases.

“Significant enough that I need them pulled off their current job assignments, and with double-shifts in training if they are willing.” Well, fuck. “Additionally, I need fifty out of seventy from a list of engineers dedicated to the technological adaptations.”

“You can’t be serious.” I knew they were - Grey was always serious - but there was no possibility that we could spare that level of resources for the entire remainder of our journey.

They nodded. “Unfortunately, I am.”

“Fifteen from the list of medical professionals cannot be spared from their current assignments, even voluntarily,” Parvati advised. “A further thirty are doubtful, as it would take ninety people to replace those thirty by our estimates.”

“It has to be all of them,” Grey advised. “One hundred and sixteen doctors and nurses for a population of ten thousand is already at a dangerous level for what we are expecting after we land.”

Biting both of my lips, I thought for a moment. “Send me the list of engineers and give us five days for a prospectus. We’ll either figure it out or have alternative plans, but this is going to take at least some time.”

“Three days.”

“Five days,” I insisted. “Grey, this isn’t a negotiation. You are asking us for the world plus the moon.  I appreciate that you have so many medical professionals ready to go, it's technology that is the issue. I do. But I can’t just yank people from everywhere without something to balance out the work. You said it yourself - in a population of ten thousand, one hundred is both too much and too little.”

Grey closed their eyes and took a deep breath before almost deflating. “As you say. Five days.” Eyes snapped open before nodding to each of us. “Sophia. Parvati.”

“Grey,” I nodded in return and watched as they left. The moment the door closed behind them, I collapsed into the nearest seat, not even realizing I had stood at any point.  Blindly, I reached for the plate Grey had left behind, only to find emptiness under my grasping fingers. “You have got to be kidding me,” I groaned, cracking an eye at Parvati.

“I see why you insisted on these,” she enunciated carefully around the last half of the last one.

Surrendering, I waved a hand at the console. “Go get another plate. We’re in for five late nights and four early mornings, from the sound of it.”

"There's one thing you should know about me Delia Vincent, I don't date. Got no heart to break and emptiness is safe, keep it that way."

...But then things changed.

"Okay great job guys! Before you go... do whatever, I want you to run over the first section of Faithless please. I just need to measure up the audio recording of the bells to the drums so it's set and pre done ready for tonight." Delia explains speaking through her head set that was connected to the in ear pieces the guys were wearing; this venue was a fair bit bigger meaning the use of a head set was much easier to communicate with the guys rather than shouting and potentially causing damage to her throat.

The guys all gave a thumbs up towards Delia's direction of the sound booth to let her know they had received the message, then they proceeded to get into position for Faithless. Working with a pre recording/ background music and sounds for musicians to play alongside to was always a challenge for both musician and sound tech. Obviously the musicians had to make sure they kept in tempo for the recording but for someone like Delia controlling the sounds levels, it was a whole other story. Not only did she have to make sure the band's sound was balanced but she had to add the audio sound balance on top.

"That's perfect, thanks guys." Delia then speaks through her headset again after the band had finished performing up to the end of the first chorus as she had requested. "You're free to do whatever until VIP and show now."

Once she watches the guys walk off of stage and head towards what she was guessing the dressing room, she takes off the headset and plans to go and find Shevy. Delia was planning on going to grab a coffee quickly and she knew that Shevy would also want to do the same; over the length of tour so far, Delia had come to realise just how much coffee was a lifesaver.

Opening the door of the sound booth she was in, she was shocked to find Andy waiting on the other side of it. To say she became slightly nervous was an understatement.

"Andy, Hi." Delia smiles through her nerves.

"Hey. So um, I just wanted to say thank you again for the batman figure. It was actually a really great gift and, um, the gift giving was actually a pretty cool idea." Andy starts.

"You're welcome." Delia nods feeling extremely awkward and she could tell that Andy was also out of his comfort zone right now; hopefully this awkward conversation would not last too long and she could get going.

"Anyway, I um. I wanted to return the um, the idea, the motive, whatever. I found this little pin badge in a shop earlier. I saw it and thought I was being creative because, well, your name is Delia and it's a pin of a flower; a dahlia to be exact. I thought it would be creative but I realise now it's probably super lame and I'm sorry." Andy rambles nervously as he pulls out a small pin of a dahlia from the pocket of his trousers and hands it to Delia.

"No, Andy, this is..." Delia starts as she takes the pin from Andy's hand felling a small genuine smile creep on her face. "This is great. I really like the thought process behind it, it's quite cleverly done."  

"Look, truthfully, I've been an asshole; I know that." Andy admits awkwardly stuffing his hands in the pockets of his trousers. "I'm sorry. I realise that my actions have most likely made it difficult for you to get to know the rest of the band over these last few days. Basically don't expect me to be all chummy with you all of a sudden, but I'll try to be less rude and accept that you're a part of the team now."

"Thanks Andy, that means a lot." Delia continues to smile whilst being completely taken off guard by Andy's sudden nice gestures; never did she think that she would get an apology from this guy.

"I promise it's nothing personal, just..." Andy trails off not wanting to finish his sentence.

"It's okay, I get it. I know about Juliet." Delia nods understandably.

"Don't say her fucking name!" Andy snaps- so much for him being nice. "Whatever, I'll see you around I guess. Enjoy the flower." Andy then proceeds to storm off leaving Delia in complete shock of what just happened.

Suddenly Delia had lost her cravings for coffee. Trying to find Shevy would most likely result in her bumping into one of the band members and after that encounter with Andy, Delia thought it would be best to spend some time alone to process it all. Looking down at the pin badge in her hand again she feels that same smile spread across her face. Sure, Andy was a complete dickhead, but he had a good mind when it came to buying gifts. Delia had never had anyone put so much thought into a gift, even a small one such as this. Safe to say Delia was impressed by Andy's commitment despite his outburst afterwards.

"There you are! Where have you been D? I haven't seen you all day!" Shevy gasps as she walks onto the bus to find Delia sitting on her bed scrolling through her phone. "Wait I can call you D right?"

"Yeah, D is fine." Delia nods shrugging as she puts her phone away watching Shevy sit on her own bed situated opposite Delia's. "I've just kind of been thinking over some things, nothing exciting."

"Awe, pretty flower, where'd you get it?" Shevy then snaps her attention to the flower pin that Delia had since attached to her denim jacket.

"Andy got it for me actually." Delia smiles awkwardly as she awaits Shevy's reaction.

"Wait what? Really?!" Shevy gasps in pure shock as she stares at Delia to see if she's joking.

"Yeah, really. He said he found it in a shop and it's a dahlia, he thought he was being creative because dahlia and Delia kind of sound similar." Delia explains to Shevy what Andy had said to her earlier that day; Shevy continues to stare at Delia in shock. "He apologised to me Shevy."

"What? Andy Biersack? The guy who has been a moody piece of shit for the last few years apologised to you?" Shevy screams slightly leaping up to join Delia sat on her bed. "You're kidding?"

"No, I'm not. He said he was sorry and that he was going to try to be less of a dick effectively." Delia explains which makes Shevy scream.

"Oh my god." Shevy gasps again. "Andy totally has the hots for you!"

"What? Shevy, no way, he does not!" Delia screeches grabbing her pillow and whacking Shevy round the head.

"Okay, rude, I'm going to ignore that you just did that." Shevy laughs grabbing the pillow from Delia and placing it back where it originally was. "But come on! Andy apologised to you. He's never even said sorry to me! There's definitely something about you that interests him."

"Oh my god Shevy, there is no way he's into me. He's simply trying to be civil after I was civil with him. Hell, I don't even know the guy and he doesn't know me." Delia becomes defensive; she was not sure why she felt she had to be defensive in front of Shevy but she had never been good at situations like this.

"Look, just be careful okay? Andy is a very attractive guy, I won't lie, but he has been known to sleep around. Obviously that's not a bad thing but it could complicate things for the tour, especially if you were to catch feelings." Shevy becomes serious as she looks out for her new friend. "I know you've only known of him for a few days but trust me when I say that tours like this bring people very close together very quickly."

"Trust me Shevy, I have no intentions of sleeping with him. I'm here to work and I enjoy my job, I don't have time for men right now nor am I interested right now." Delia explains. "Anyway, I'm ready to get some sleep, we're going to start moving soon and we have a show in Biloxi tomorrow."

"Okay yes that's very true." Shevy nods before grinning wildly. "But if anything more does happen I want all of the gossip!"

"Okay, fine, deal. Now can we please go to sleep?" Delia laughs slightly.

"Fine." Shevy groans before returning to her own bunk to grab her pyjamas that were placed under her pillow, Delia doing the same.

So it was weird that Andy apologised and has suddenly decided to try and be nicer; Delia definitely did not expect that from him. But what was his motive? Surely Shevy was not right in her ideas. It must have something to do with the fact that Delia was not about to put up with his bullshit this whole time and had stood her grounds on one occasion. Yes, that surely must be it.

Hikaru’s 1st Stage Play 「GOOD LUCK YOUR MEMORIES：Re」  First Reaction

OH MY GOD! This was surprisingly good (and heart-wrenching)! I really love the premise of this story. After watching it once I am still a little confused about a few details but I’m pretty sure I understood 90% of it. The production is simple but very effective and they did a great job recording the whole thing. I was worried it would be mostly bad audio, a ton of shaky cam and wide shots where you could barely make out anything. Super glad to have been proven wrong. And let me tell you, Hikaru’s acting is top-notch, I am so impressed. I mean, I had utmost faith in my queen of drama but I couldn’t quite envision how it would turn out. Her role isn’t too challenging I suppose but she does have a few big scenes which she absolutely nails! Her final scene with Takuma and Yui is utterly heartbreaking, Hikaru literally made me cry.

On a random side note, I cannot believe we are getting some full-on yuri action here🤩🤗. I think it was Hikaru’s manager who said that this isn’t really yuri despite what it may look like but you know what they say, if it walks like a duck...😂 For anyone who is getting their panties in a twist due to the implied inc*est, don’t worry, they aren’t really sisters.

I went for the “A Team” version because I wanted to save some money. Detailed Summary (beware of spoilers): “I will surely return to collect my reward - your memories!” Takuma - a run-of-the-mill private investigator, Seiji - a nerdy officer of an anti crime unit and Kosuke - a wannabe gangster. Three men that have been close friends since their school days. Despite their conflicting professions, they promised they would never interfere with each other’s work and have thus remained close. This changes when a mysterious woman named Shizuku (=Hikaru) suddenly appears on the scene. Wanting to escape her current life, Shizuku has chosen to run away but she is being chased by her older sister Itsuki. The men step in to help her and decide to take her under their wing. For the first time in her life, she experiences friendship and kindness, especially during her interactions with Takuma’s assistant Yui. After a while, the three friends find out about Shizuku’s special abilities. Everyone who enters a contract with her may go back in time to change a moment they regret. Initially, the men do not believe her story but when both Kosuke and Seiji find themselves in a predicament, they are willing to make a pact with Shizuku. Her powers turn out to be in fact genuine and both men manage to change a past event in their favour. However, in the wake of doing so, they are unknowingly breaking the rule of never interfering with each other’s work. Soon they become top dog in their respective professions. Eventually, Takuma learns that the price of using Shizuku’s ability is a gradual memory loss. Not only that, their existence also starts disappearing from loved ones’ memories. As memories are lost, personality slowly changes and humanity is stripped away, the two men become corrupted. This results in a lethal showdown between the yakuza and the anti-crime-force that threatens to destroy the entire city. As Takuma watches the drama unfold he wants to protect his friends, discover the secrets behind Shizuku’s abilities and reveal the true motives of the mysterious Itsuki. Alas, he is powerless in the face of organised crime and ultimately cannot stop his former friends from killing each other and taking several people with them. Shizuku is heartbroken to witness how her actions have indirectly caused so much pain and death.She feels like she has no other choice but to kill her sister Itsuki in order to put a stop to this endless suffering. However, before Shizuku can finish the deed, Itsuki manages to fatally wound her younger sister. With her final breath, Shizuku makes a pact with Takuma. Lives are restored, the trajectories of Seiji’s and Kosuke’s careers are completely changed leading to a happy and fruitful life for both of them. The price that needs to be paid - the erasure of Takuma’s existence from people’s minds. Takuma being an anomaly, is able to keep his memories but he is now living together with Shizuku in another dimension where they have been forgotten by everyone they have come to love. And That’s What Your Really Missed S1E3 Acafellas

So I started listening to Showmance and those old recap episodes and what I thought would be fun is to listen to Showmance’s coverage of episodes before the And That’s What You Really Missed one comes out. That way I’m really able to hear the difference or lack thereof that nearly three years of distance makes for Jenna and Kevin. I can’t promise to do a summary like this for every episode but I listened to both podcast eps on Acafellas today so here goes my recap of two recaps.

First off, Jenna and Kevin are doing an A/B/C plot structure from now on instead of a scene-by-scene recap, which I wholeheartedly support. It flows much better and cuts the awkwardness by at least 30%. They talked about dreading it but have a better opinion than they thought they would, and I can confirm they were overall less happy about Acafellas during their Showmance episode. Even back then they highlighted the Mercedes plot being the best part, including Bust Your Windows.

What was new/different:

They talk about being in Australia when Acafellas premiered, something they didn’t touch on at all in Showmance. Recounts of nights out, hangovers, and the enthusiasm of Australian fans.

John Lloyd Young, who played no-thumbed Henri St. Pierre was Lea Michele’s boyfriend at the time. Did not know that.

Cheyenne Jackson was supposed to play Dakota Stanley but got the flu. He later went on to play Dustin Goolsby.

More of an appreciation for the adult storyline - well, not appreciation. They just get it more why the show decided to have a Will/adults A plot. Even in Showmance they talked about these early episodes playing to established strengths like Matt Morrison’s boyband past.

They mentioned less of the Unholy Trinity’s/Quinntana’s scheming here and in Showmance they noted how cruel they were for setting Mercedes up for failure. They also didn’t spend as much time talking about the Sandy of it all.

Some of the talking points touched on during both podcast episodes:

Shelby Shum being one of the Vocal Adrenaline dancers.

Kevin and Amber bonding over loving Jazmine Sullivan and suggesting they covered her songs.

They highlighted the Quinntana duo and Naya having more to do during both eps; in Showmance they lamented that Dianna and Naya didn’t get to act together as much later on. Big mood.

Overall I think they talked more about Kurtcedes in Showmance as well but they again emphasized how great a friend Mercedes is and how big a deal Kurt’s coming out was. Also talked about Amber and Hemo melting blowing everyone away with their singing/dancing respectively.

Shit we found on TikTok:

This one was strange, it was just a TikTok pointing out funny side character names in the credits like Super Gay Warbler and Other Gay Warbler in season 6. No real commentary on it other than it’s funny.

The TikTok segment still feels unnecessary but I like the flow of the pod better now. I also don’t know if this is a very recent thing but Kevin’s audio is decidedly better than it was at the beginning. They might have recorded this one at the studio. They teased this week’s guest episode at the end and I can only assume it’ll be Mike O’Malley. Could be Dianna based on the Preggers buildup and Chris already having guessed but they mentioned the Kurt plot of the next ep, not the Quinn one, hence my Burt guess.

Hello, this is the follow-up to the Dracula Analog Horror vs ARG poll. I promised that I would explain the possible pros and cons of both formats, so here we go:

NOTE: I won't explicitly give any spoilers, but proceed with caution just in case.

PART 1: A Dracula-inspired ARG

PROS:

It would have a similar structure to the book: So we know the book compiles journal entries, audio recordings and letters, right? Well, in this modern adaptation, the characters could have YouTube, Twitter, Tumblr accounts or whatever fits best with their personalities. For reference, Marble Hornets uploaded their content in three different accounts: their main YouTube channel, the totheark channel and their Twitter page. Besides videos, there could also be photos and chat messages. Jonathan could record the first entries on his phone, for instance.

It would be similar to Dracula Daily: the cast would post the content on the exact dates, so there would be suspense when viewers don't get any new entries.

It would be more immersive: the cast would be like "This is totally happening in real time, guys".

CONS

People who dislike unreality for mental health reasons may find this format problematic: I think this would be more of a problem if A) the viewer knew nothing about the novel and watched the series completely blind, B) the creator changed all the characters' names, or C) the special effects were convincing. If anyone struggles with this, feel free to give your thoughts on the matter.

How would Jonathan upload the first entries on YouTube?: Since Dracula doesn't want Jonathan to have contact with the outside world, it wouldn't make sense for him to have WiFi in his castle. Would he even know what the Internet is? Speaking of the Internet, I think Dracula should have zero knowledge about it or else there would be more plotholes, especially in the final chapters.

Why would Seward upload things showing tragic moments?: I can't go into detail because of spoilers, but it would be disrespectful to the person involved if he did that (If I were in that situation, I would be angry if someone started recording me as I'm suffering). One could argue that, instead of uploading a video, he could tweet something like: "Unfortunately, this happened today". But then, how does the creator show the weird thing that happens prior to that tragic scene? Remember that showing is better than telling, especially in horror.

On a technical aspect, it would be a mess: While some people might enjoy the challenge of finding the entries themselves, how is the audience supposed to know when the ARG starts? The point of an ARG is to convince people that it's real, so the creator can't say on their page: "Hey guys, the ARG starts next week. Content warning: blah, blah, blah...". Also, what if the audience never finds one of the character's entries.

PART 2: A Dracula-inspired Analog Horror series

PROS:

It would make sense for Seward's entries: it would be unprofessional for him to start a podcast to talk badly about one of his patients. So a better idea would be to show his entries as footage from a security camera in Renfield's room. The video description would be something like: "This is leaked footage from the psychiatric hospital".

It would make sense for the entries related to Lucy: Maybe I or someone else can develop this point further on September/October.

All the character entries can be found in one Youtube channel: Instead of going to several social media pages or websites to find all the entries, the viewer could simply go to one site to follow the whole story. The entries could be uploaded in the same order as the book.

It would solve the plothole mentioned in the previous section: Without going into spoilers, the epistolary format of the novel becomes more relevant in the plot. An in-universe explanation for the existence of the channel would be that [MAIN CHARACTER] created the account to show the videos Jonathan recorded during his trip and also share what happened to the rest of the cast. In other words, the series would technically start in media res.

CONS:

The creator would have to come up with new powers for Dracula (this applies to the ARG version as well): If the creator just gives Dracula the powers he has in the book, the audience would go "Oh, it's just a normal vampire. It's not that scary". I think the creator could look up vampire myths/folklore and focus on the powers that pop culture doesn't mention. That would add more mystery and creepiness.

The first entries would not be uploaded on the exact dates: the footage can say 03/05/202X (I'm not American, so it's day/month/year) in the corner of the screen, but it's not the same.

Author's note: I'm tryng to be better at writing & posting my one-shots, so here's a quick one for Niki :) Also I cannot remember who is on the Niki taglist and who is on the taglist for everything, so if you want to be tagged for anything Niki and you haven't been, please let me know or fill out the google form on my pinned post.

Like any driver in the modern era, Niki was coerced into creating several social media pages. Luckily, or unluckily depending on the day, Roxanne managed his accounts. It came easily to her, and it prevented Niki from posting bland pictures after races and obvious sponsorship opportunities. Seeing such posts from other drivers always made her sigh, and she was glad to save Niki’s Instagram. She never did anything that betrayed his voice or beliefs, but it was obvious to any fan Niki did not post on his social media accounts. Of course, few drivers did, or it was easy to tell what posts were theirs and what came from the team or their managers.

She even put in effort for his sponsorship pictures. While others posted obvious advertisements claiming to love their new and specific phone or fridge, Roxanne worked to make it seem natural. Sure, it was still an ad and the brand could be read in the upper corner, but it was classier and more subtle. 

Posts were rare during the summer break. Roxanne, and by extension Niki, would take a break from their phones and enjoy their vacation. On occasion, there would be a story picture of a sunset or an ocean view, and at the end of the break, she would make a compilation post. Sights, surroundings, and at the end one picture of the happy couple. 

She kept their Instagram accounts organized and aesthetically pleasing. Her Tiktok, however, was a different story. What was once a modest page blossomed overnight after a handful of videos featuring Niki were reposted by both the team and Formula One’s accounts. Niki’s fans quickly learned that for behind-the-scenes content, they should follow Roxanne. She capitalized on trends, and many of her videos were simple coordinations of popular songs or sounds with appropriate shots of her husband. 

For instance, Roxanne used audio from an old advertisement proclaiming “Berries and Cream!” with a video of Niki eating yogurt in the garage on a busy morning. In another video, she used a sound asking “Where the fuck is Niki at?” until she found him flat on his back under the car. Roxanne even posted fan edits of her husband such as clips of him on the podium with “Let’s Groove” by Earth, Wind, and Fire playing. 

Niki did not know what his wife was up to, giggling on her phone, until an interview question from a child. The kid asked what it was like to be married to such a TikTok legend, and Niki stared at the poor child in confusion. He did not mind, but he would have appreciated a head’s up from her. They spent that evening on the couch with Roxanne showing him her most popular videos. Niki promised her if the video wasn’t too kitschy or cliche, he would participate in the challenges or trends.

Roxanne made a compilation of Niki scowling at people and things in the garage until she zoomed in on his face. Then, when he realized he was being recorded, he would crack a goofy smile and laugh. Once in a while, Niki agreed to make videos explaining parts of racing or the cars. Roxanne cross-posted these videos with him taking a minute to talk about tires, race suits, braking distances, or turn apexes. With a little editing and subtitles, the video was ready to post. These were often shared by his team or the official Formula One account.  

At the end of the season, Niki and the team came up with a surprise for Roxanne. He commissioned a small trophy with her name and the award “TikToker of the Year”. Niki insisted on making a video of her accepting her award, with a speech of course, and placed it next to one of his trophies from the season.

Synopsis:

Leo was the one who heard all of Davenport’s confessions in the elevator. He was the one who sought out Douglas, who had been the one to originally break into his and Marcus’ lab. He’s the one who’s been trapped in and escaped from a freaking parallel universe. 

He knows, better than any of them, that all the secrets surrounding their past will never fully come to light. 

But he needs to save his brother. And if that means chasing a ghost from Douglas’ past, then he will. No matter where it leads him.

By the time Adam returns, along with a couple of bionic teams touching base, nothing appears out of the ordinary. 

Leo is stretched out, lounging by the pool, eyes shaded by sunglasses and the skin on his shoulders slightly burned from the intense sun of the day. Leo mentions casually to his brother that they are out of sunscreen — the island practically goes through it like water — and Adam promises to add it to their supply list, both of them knowing full well he’ll forget and Leo will have to do it himself. 

Douglas’ laptop is laid out in its owner’s still-empty room, not an inch out of place from where Leo had found it. Leo’s tablet is resting in its usual place on the end table by the couch, nothing to indicate there might be something new on it worth hiding. 

Leo managed to transfer a copy of every file over, though he still can’t access them. Given time, he could probably solve that issue, but time it would take, especially when there are others who could handle that bit of coding more efficiently. 

He won’t go to Big D, though he knows his stepfather wouldn’t hesitate to help on this particular issue. His fear of Douglas’ past continuing to come back and hurt his family is even more acute than Leo’s. It’s why the teen can’t involve him in this, not yet. He won’t drive a wedge between Douglas and his brother’s already fragile relationship, at least not until he knows more. 

That leaves only one other person. 

He waits until he’s certain he’s alone before making the call. His phone rings twice before it’s picked up at the other end. 

“Hey, Leo, what’s up?” Chase’s voice is prompt, cheerful. 

“Are you alone?” Leo asks, voice low, “I need to talk to you in private.” 

“Yeah,” and his tone shifts, “What’s going on?”

“I discovered something on Douglas’ laptop. An audio recording that indicates while the FBI had you three in custody, there was someone else, not Krane or Giselle, who was trying to get possession of you. Douglas isn’t talking, and obviously the last thing we need is someone from his past showing up out of nowhere.”

There’s silence on the other end, and Leo can imagine the haunted look washing over his brother’s face. He knows how close Giselle came to ending Chase’s life, and he knows how close things really got, as he was the only one to notice the blood trailing the back of his neck. He was the one Chase had turned to when the nightmares tore him from his sleep and paralyzed him in the night. 

“Did you find anything else?” Chase finally says, his voice tense. 

“In the same folder as the audio recording were about a hundred locked files. All labeled with dates, and spanning about a three year time span that starts seven years ago,” Leo answers. “Breaking into the files would take me too long.”

“Alright. Let me secure a connection, the send me the audio recording and the latest five files. Douglas could come down at any moment, so we can’t risk transferring everything at once.” 

“Got it,” he affirms. “Call me as soon as soon as you find anything out. In the meantime, I have a couple other sources in mind that could provide some leads.”

“Alright, but Leo,” Chase implores, concern in his voice, “Don’t do anything too risky.”

“I won’t,” he promises, ending the call a second later. Only it’s a rather half-hearted promise, because there hasn’t been a single time Leo didn’t run headfirst into a dangerous situation to save his family.

Finished the last of us s1 watch and !!!!!!!! it was very very good, which means that I’ve gotta get the tiny bit of criticism out of my system, so that I can just chill about how much I enjoyed it + am looking forward to part 2

so to negative for a sec: two things I was hoping for that didn’t happen, the first of which was that Marlene didn’t have any more depth to her than she had in the game sort of

and in the game this makes sense, the POV is limited to you playing as Joel, but you do wander around during the massacre scene finding audio recordings that are about how conflicted and hurt and desperate Marlene is, as well as how bad she feels about essentially betraying Anna’s trust

the game doesn’t have the opening that the TV-show gave us (which was great), but it gives us more insight into her than I personally think that opening did. The Ellie’s-birth scene was a cool Easter Egg and a nice insight into Anna and how Ellie’s life began/the people who have sacrificed for her to live and the promise that Marlene made, but overall gives me more new information about Anna than about Marlene

I would have liked to see her recordings turned into scenes, spitballing maybe as seeing brief flashes of her perspective up until Joel and Ellie get there (which is what parts of those recordings are about) and how that translates into growing desperation and also because she’s addressing those recordings to Anna, which ends with her being brutally pragmatic about what she feels needs to be done, and she’s making her peace with Anna, her old best friend whom she is letting down in the worst way possible

and how she and Ellie reconnect perhaps, talk, have some kind of emotional scene, and her knowing what’s going to happen (but perhaps the audience doesn’t until she goes and talks to Joel) 

and the other, which isn’t necessarily something I’d think is better? but did kind of want -- was a slightly bigger foreshadowing of Abby. We do have a shot that those who know know of course

Those would be the two things, with Marlene taking the larger part of it, because I think it would have been stronger + fit the theme that’s really been hammered home even more in the TV show with the way it gave various secondary characters get more focus to explore love and what they would do for love, or how they might feel like they’re betraying that love (both)

I think I wouldn’t have zeroed in so much on that if I hadn’t felt that this element was so strong throughout the rest of the show, and so was expecting that for Marlene as well, but they clearly made a choice to tighten that last episode back onto Joel’s POV (which does have its own pros)

I’m not sure which phone sex audio I am but if you did enjoy the recording and it happened to be my session then I will tell you that it really is that much better when Jack is focused on you. You don’t seem the shy type but you may be surprised to find yourself speechless and out of breath from all the…fun 💦 that you are more than likely to experience. As a repeat customer for both sexy and non-sexy dates I can promise you that it is an investment well spent. So if you’re on the edge just go for it. Jack is so good at leading you through it all. You’ll wonder why you were ever nervous in the first place. When live shows return I hope that someone is brave enough to volunteer for another live session, I’m always open for round 2.

The Understudies, Chapter 5

From the desk of Reginald Hargreeves

I’ve added some different children in, in an attempt to get number fifteen to open up.  I’ve started recording video and audio since the incident last year. 

Out of curiosity I had let number seven in, and it was disastrous.  Number fifteen is still very angry about how we had brought her to the house.  She saw number seven and the collar went wild.  Fifteen blew the main power and we had to use a generator. 

There is such rage within her.  However, my sparkle, my shining diamond has calmed that within the past week. 

I let number fourteen see her.   She was shocked.

Fourteen had admitted to me after spending time with her that she’d seen fifteen before.  She said that a few days before her powers developed, she saw fifteen outside the mansion, staring at her.  She also told me that fifteen knew about eight and fourteen and that she wanted to help them escape, which is why she showed up at the mansion. 

There is a telepathic connection that the power collar does not pick up on between the two girls, but fourteen is becoming more open—with her powers and with her actions.  Maybe fifteen isn’t as bad as I’d thought.  Maybe she’s the key to fourteen coming into her potential. 

1995—Brianna’s POV

“But where is everyone else?”  I asked, “I thought we were supposed to do multiple rounds.”

“Well, my sweet,” papa sighed, “After seeing some developments in you, I decided to hold off.  You are clearly gaining more powers, much like the ones of your sisters.”

I looked at the ground.  Eight would be upset if I showed him.  I promised her.

“Come with me,” he said, holding out his hand, “we have a lot to talk about, little one.”

Ever the obedient child, I took it.  Together we walked out of the room, and down the hall, “where are we going, papa?”

He didn’t answer.  Instead, he lead me down a series of halls, before I came to a dimly lit door.  I could see the light flickering beneath it. 

“Don’t be scared.”

I pushed open the door and there she was.  Supposedly she was one of our sisters.  Seven had found her a few months ago and had been making friends with her, but then one day, papa took Five and followed her to where she hid out. 

She glared at me through darkly circled eyes.  Then she turned her attention to papa.  I gasped.  She was restrained to a dolly. 

“Papa.”

“No questions,” he muttered, “this girl is named Dot, or at least that’s what seven tells me.  She’s not been cooperative in the slightest, but from what I do know, she shares powers similar to that of you and your sister.  I tell you this because you deserve to know…you and eight are not twins.  You were triplets.”

I looked at the girl.  She cocked her brow, not seeming to believe papa.  I took a step towards her.  She did look a lot like eight and I.  She had the same face and nose…but she was so dirty, and her hair was tangled, I couldn’t be sure. 

‘LIAR!’

A collar around her throat lit up red and her body convulsed.  I took a step back in horror.  Then I looked at papa.  He had a smirk on his face. 

“Wha-“

“Any time she tries to use her powers, she gets shocked,” he smiled.  He patted the top of her head, and took a few steps behind her, so that he could wheel the dolly, “now is her time to see Abhijat.  She’ll get food, relief, and some exercise.”

He whistled and robo Abhijat made his way in, taking Dot off his hands.

“Why are you showing me that, papa?”

“I want to make you aware little one,” he said simply, sitting down on a gurney, “I want to be an encouraging force for you.  I see you have so much potential, but there is something stopping you.  There is something, or someone not letting you utilize your potential.”

“I do-“

“We both know you know who I am referring to,” he said, cutting me off.  He held up his hand dismissively, “I just want you to know this, little one, sometimes we are not what we let others see.  I want an open and loving relationship between us.  You are my favorite child.  I see something in your eyes, that reminds me of my mother.”

He reached to the back of his head, and I heard the most curious noise.  It sounded like a zipper.  The door slammed behind me, and I turned as the lock clicked into place.

“Papa, what’s going on?”

But when I turned around, it wasn’t papa. 

There was a mask and a latex costume that looked exactly like papa laying on the bed.  In papa’s place was something out of this world. 

“You must promise that this stays between us, little one,” it said in his voice, “this, along with your powers will be our secret.”

1995—Vanya’s POV

I smiled, looking around at our siblings.  Mom had given us all names, and they really seemed to fit.  The only one who rejected his name was five.  He said that was his name, and it would stay his name.  The rest of us however, wanted to be more than a number.  And now that Dot was here, it seemed very fitting that more than just Brianna had a real name. 

“Where’s Brianna and father?” I asked my brother.  Five shrugged.

“I don’t know,” he said quickly, “maybe she disappeared.”

“You don’t have to be mean,” Leah replied.  She took my hand and led me down the hall, “Reginald took her to the basement.  Dani has been trying to get down there and find them, but Reginald put the collar on her.  She’s upstairs trying to get it off.”

“Why don’t you help her?”

“He’d know I helped her if I did…plus I’m pretty sure I’d burst her eardrums using my echo blast,” she said, shaking her head, “but Ben is trying to get it off her.”

“Guys,” Klaus smiled, coming up to us, “come on.  Ben’s almost got it.”

We all began running to Ben’s room, where an alarm was going off. 

“Oh no.”

By the time we got to Ben’s room, it was loud.  Really loud.  The collar was on the floor, and buzzing an angry red, “what did you do?”

“I broke it,” Ben nervously said, “we got it off, and it-“

“CHILDREN!”

We all froze.  Ben dropped the screwdriver. 

The unmistakable click of Reginald’s cane against the floor sent a shiver up my spine.  I could see behind him was a very nervous looking Brianna.

“Papa.” she whispered.  He looked down at her, and she flinched away. 

“What’d you do to her?” Dani yelled, stepping out in front of us, “why wouldn’t you let me see her?”

“I was asking Brianna questions about her newly developed powers,” he smiled.  I could read past it though.  He was lying, “it’s interesting she’s developed them so late.”

“Brianna,” Dani said in a low tone.  I looked between the two of them.  Brianna wouldn’t meet her gaze, “Brianna…what happened?”

Chapter 6

256. A is back from Paris and I took his still-jet lagged ass out. We went to a bar with the name of a fruit and we were the only people there that didn’t look mid-30s, white québécois, fresh out of the office. He tells me he went to Versailles and I’m nodding like you do in pleasant conversation about people who went to visit a city you’re supposed to know but hate, until he provided me with the titillating information that Marie-Antoinette not only liked to role-play poor peasant, but had an entire fake peasant village built near the Versailles palace, à la DisneyLand. A shows me photos he took and there it is, a little swamp surrounded by a handful of little huts and mills that look so cartoonishly like a pre-revolution French village that it might as well have been designed by Disney himself. To have lived a life as busy as one including both building fake villages for you to role-play in as well as being publicly beheaded is what A and I would consider a life well lived. In an attempt to channel Marie-Antoinette energy we sneak into a university building from which we hear music blasting, but once inside we lose the auditory trace and instead visit the building, sardonically commenting “that’s cute” about this rival university’s facilities. We reach the infamous second-hand book shop I originally wanted to take him to 15 minutes before it closes, and look for a book of poetry I was once promised, but isn’t there. We leave promptly, as I feel the eyes of the guy working there like daggers on our backs.  We head to the next bar which we don’t realize is a fancy hotel bar until a man greets us and activates the automatic glass doors for us. The bartender compliments A’s coat, and glasses, and earrings, all in one breath and I think that’s a bit much, but really I’m just jealous. When I get home I stay up for an hour in the dark watching videos or listening to audio recordings exemplifying the McGurk effect, and I lose my mind. The next morning my mother video calls me and says “did you go out last night? it shows” but I’m sure Marie-Antoinette didn’t look too great either long before the guillotine.
