The harder I try to fit social conceptions of how to be a man, the dumber I think the person I plan to interact with is in their conceptual understanding of gender. I am going to try so fucking hard to look like a masculine man when I have to talk to some institution or my endocrinologist because I don't trust either of those fuckers not to refuse me care if I look too femme. If I am going to hang out with friends on the other hand, I am so happy to paint my nails and wear a cute little outfit because I know that none of them would ever be dumb enough to question my gender because of of my presentation.
