Just rewatched xmen first class and honestly, i don't think i'll ever be normal about these two guys playing chess. Something about erik and charles knowing each other for such a short period of time and erik immediately deciding he should make a habit out of playing chess with the telepath...

Who else has ever even considered the idea, knowing of charles powers?? Who else could play with him with the unwavering certainty that he's not cheating? There's something so trusting about erik teasing him that he's a psychic, he can make him do anything... Because he's so sure charles won't use it against him (unless he's trying to commit war crimes again). He has zero doubts. Just a casual but insane level of trust that he gives him soon after they meet and never takes back.

I'm not sure if I already made this post but by FLINCH I'll make it again.

Distance From Me right after the 101 timeline starts is such a wild choice. (I'm going off the idea that the Intermission song is about Mikey and Edgar, because that's what it means to me)

You have two episodes of Mikey not caring for Edgar, even proudly proclaiming how easy it was to kill him, how little he means to him and how he'd rather stay in the timeline where Edgar is dead and gone, than return to a timeline where they're together.

And then right after you get an Intermission song where Mikey tells Edgar to stay away for him (if I were you, I'd keep my distance from me), which is a common theme in Mike/Edgar songs, like Painted Glass and hoarfrost except this time Mikey has killed Edgar with his own two hands.

But then it ends with such a wistful, hopeful note of wishing for a life together, a chance to grow old. (I get carried away with the thought of old age) Something they'll never have, because Edgar is dead and if he's not dead now, he'll be dead in eight years.

Yet it's something Mikey wants so badly, he's been talking about it ever since he met Edgar.
