I had to put the family cat down due to cancer today. During the drive home I slipped into a maladaptive daydream where the world had lost color for me because of this awful event. I really expected that to be my future reality. Instead, I was blown away by the sheer, unrelenting beauty of the sky today. A brilliant shade of blue dotted with some of the most wonderful clouds I had seen in weeks. I had been getting into cloud watching and photography as of late but this moment truly blew me away. How could the sky dare to be outstandingly beautiful during such a grey day in my life? How could nature so slyly display such colorful things to me at this moment? When I pulled up the driveway, I smiled. Maybe things would be ok. We'll get through this.

I will be ok. Nature told me so.
