Aussie question time: when I find out an idol is American/Canadian, their image in my mind completely changes because now it’s like “Oh I know exactly who you are, I grew up with your type around me” there are subtleties that I’m going to understand that others might not. So with all that said, I’ve been curious about what that’s like (if you experience it) w the skz aussies (throw in a lily if you’re feeling it -v-) 🎤

this is wayyyyyy too long so I'm putting it under a read more- also disclaimer: i dont know these guys and these are just my opinions, dont take em too srs <3

Hmmmm... Well I guess I'll start with Felix- I've said it before a bunch but the whole "Felix is a tiny uwuw baby sweet summerchild who is just such a baby" etc. etc. has made me laugh from the get go- because Yep! he is incredibly sensitive and sweet natured and kind and he cries a lot- 100% that is true. Dont think I'm saying it's not. But like. He also grew up in western sydney, he grew up in a area that if you google it one of the first suggestions is "is it safe" but then at the same time he went to private catholic school im pretty sure. and i saw pics from back then that he'd posted back in the day of cool little felix with his gold watch and his fade and all his little homeboys looking rowdy on the train- I know that kid and while that kid can also be sweet and sensitive, he's not incapable and hes not a baby. Good recent example was when he went on that Jewel box show with the gay dudes and people were acting like he was *so uncomfortable* and sooooo out of his element and so this and so that- theres gay dudes all over sydney, there's gay dudes all over australian media- the idea felix couldnt handle that was simply laughable to me- but it kinda shows how many outside perceptions of him still very much fall into that vaguely infantalizing thing. Like when he was the one who was happy to go up to adam levine and dj snake in that skz talker while the other boys were much more shy? that didnt shock me at all. felix went to korea as a whole teenager laregly against his parent wishes- he's actually quite an outgoing and brave guy. Outgoing guys can still be sweeties, though- one doesn't negate the other.

One other aspect of Felix i think a lot of fans just gloss over but is easily noticeable by me is that he can kindaaaaaa be ... a lil bitchy? like he's never ever mean or cruel dont get me wrong- but he has a slight bitchy streak, he rolls his eyes AND he's actually much more sarcastic than people bring up? Again- he does it a lot with Chan and that doesnt shock me- they both are aussie boys, Chan will get it and I think Felix can very much be himself with Chan, he doesn't necessarily feel the need to put up an extra air of like... Sweetie boy-ness? bc when he calls chan a cunt on live chan just laughs and goes OI!! so yuh the main thing with felix is while i do think hes a little sweet guy, ive never from the get go had a hard time seeing him outside of that box, too. Also maybe that's a lil bit aussie humour slipping under the radar here or there 🤔

Chan to me from the get go too was pretty much like. Prototypical overachieving aussie Good Boy. Like, i had a drafted post i never posted bc it was too niche- but it was essentially about how he speaks about sports and the like, and it just said "We get it. You went to zone carnival" which was the sporting event that the kids who got gold or 1st place were sent to. If you went to zone, you were the Successful kid. I think these days most fans perceive him as... a bit of a goofy guy? but I have gone through the archives and i have seen the comments from people talking about how chans such a bad boy- thats shit is so funny to me bc you can show me every iteration of chan and I'd never, ever think he's a bad boy. Like he wishes he was a bad boy, he kinda cosplays a bad boy- even him referencing swearing bc of his australianess and shit over the years makes me giggle a little bc i feel like felix def 100% swears all the time but he doesnt like Smirk about it too much? he doesnt really bring it up? things like that stand out, it to me feels very like Oh yeah I'm this naughty Aussie boy who swears hehe and then all the australians are like ? Girl we all do huh lmao

Otherwise, I dont have as much to say about chan as i do about felix, funnily. Like idk people might perceive differently to me, but nothing too far off? I will say that given Chan's success and the fact he was seemingly a very well achieving kid too (maybe not debuting for such a long time is part of this) he is WAY more humble than I'd expect. Like not to besmirch Australian men but a lot of them can be really loud and cocky, especially the famous successful ones (any sport star) it's almost encouraged to be like that if you're a dude (but only to a certain degree, anything beyond a certain point and you'll be roasted lol) So I have to give credit where it's due and say that Chan *Seemingly does have a very good nature and I appreciate that about him! Its probably why I like him so much bc he actually very much doesn't give off those vibes- he doesn't seem like that overly macho cocky bloke I know very well. So that makes him good fun for me- he's very successful and he's confident and yet he doesn't activate any of my bitch instincts- thats impressive! I don't know him, so I'll never know for sure of course, i feel like i need to make that disclaimer but still I do believe he has a good heart, and he tries so hard! and I appreciate that.

Lily is weirdly like Chan. like she's hilariously like chan tbh- I wonder how they really get along sometimes bc I feel like they might look at each other and be like Hm... we the same............ ? Lmao I will say though, lily is a bit out of pocket and half of that I believe is her personality but half of it is just.... I think she's just australian 😭 like i cant lie you get me as a teenager to early 20 something and put me on a live and I can promise I would be saying as much ?? shit. Like, I do think Australians are a little loud and not necessarily always.... tactful (again Not everyone, but yk.) lily certainly fits that bill to a T. I appreciate that regardless of her idolhood she does still say things that maybe she shouldn't, she shrugs off a shoplifting confession, she says she'd murder someone if she had to, she bought and wore a shirt that fans quickly tracked down and found out all the proceeds were going to Palestine- she would have known what that suggested. she clearly had this goal of being an idol since she was a baby, like literal baby but she hasn't sacrificed her broader personality, even the parts that could potentially be off-putting to those idol fans that expect perfection and nothing else. I appreciate that in her! and I hope she never loses her little weird girl spark bc it does make her very dynamic! Her slightly gruff aussie girlness is very fun for me to see in the idolsphere bc it def feels out of place, but in a refreshing way...

THEORY TIME :)))))))) (yaay it's back)

but before, just a thing... Man that looks realistic... But TOO realistic... Where did he get that from??

We usually think that some things from the PC are drawn by Orange. At first, these were just theories... Like with the Gunslinger short. There were a lot of "drawn" things there; like the hat, the shoes, the stick-circle-thing...

But the Green's Channel 1st ep actually kind of confirmed this. Cuz we can see Orange drawing the basketball hoop with an art-style similar to the before mentioned thing. And also with colors other than the black-white we see him drawing with.

So I don't think these were drawn by Orange. The main difference I see is that Orange's style when drawing objects is more cartoonish… And Green's stuff in the ig pic is nothing of that...

There before I have two theories:

Google: We've seen that the sticks can pick up things from google images (Lightsaber Duel short). But this theory can be debunked by two facts: The first one being that (as shown in the image) the objects they pick have a cartoonish looking appearance. And the second one being that Green's laptop has a weird looking logo that I don't think is real…

2. Outernet: We know that the Green's arc happens after AvA s3. There is evidence like:

-Green's videos are being posted now and AvA s3 canonically happened in 2023 (PC dates)

-The modified comment where a person calls Orange by the TSC name and Green first doesn't recognizes it. But then that comment was deleted and they modified his response to recognizing it but still calling him Orange… This means that they either found out about the name in AvA s3 or before in AvLol (welp I'm getting of topic, whatever) (coudln't find it but trust me!!)

So, maybe after AvA s3 they get more ways to go to stick city…

Tbh, me too! Although, to be REALLY honest, I shy away from writing the big scene at the end of the chapter, so I'm flying by the seat of my pants on that one.

Also, I love these questions, anon! I don't get the chance to talk about my writing much, so I really appreciate these!

What does your writing process look like?

Writing manically at the early hours of the morning and hammering out half-finished scenes and sentences that only make sense to me until I'm finished with the first draft.

Then I get started on the second draft.

2. Do you have some kind of notes on what you want in a scene that you check as you're writing? (For example I tend to roughly note what the action is gonna be to not have to resolve those problems while writing)

Sure! Mostly I use color-coded highlights. One color to highlight a passage/sentence that needs to be edited or fact-checked, a second to remind me of sentences I need to rewritten entirely or deleted, and a third for sentences/notions I actually like but have a particular something that's missing. Mostly, I tend to use these highlights on the second draft to help me as I'm making my third.

3. Do you delete huge chunks of text while writing the 1st draft?

Nope! Honestly, my first draft is usually such a mess that I just end up writing the second draft on a separate page, and keeping the 1st draft open as reference.

4. Once you're finished with the 1st draft, do you go back and tweak a few sentences then call it a day or do you REwrite? (I'm talking rewriting full scenes or paragraphs from the ground up, not just rephrasing)

As mentioned above, I tend to rewrite everything. The sole exceptions are the short form fics/headcanons/asks I put up here on Tumblr, those get rewritten or reedited depending on my mood for the day. Sometimes, I don't even edit them at all! Which is how I tend to bang them out quicker than my chaptered pics.

5. What's your favorite stage of writing?

Uh...the posting of the chapter and getting to experience the sweet, sweet dopamine rush of asks/comments/reblogs?

Someone give Louis Tomlinson his flowers already!

I woke up early this morning, as I often do, thanks to years of working and horrible insomnia. And like most mornings these last few years, I grab my phone and begin to scroll my twitter feed. Louis had a show last night and I wanted to catch up on anything I might've missed once the show had ended and I headed to bed. Per usual, there is a lot of beautiful pics and tweets from concert attendees, waxing poetic about how good the show was and how proud of Louis they are. Typical fare for this fandom, nothing new to add.

I keep scrolling and I land an account, tweet sharing what looks like snippets from an "article" or "blog piece" (not sure which) from the "Medium". I stop dead in my tracks and read the multiple tweet thread of the most biased, vile drivel I've come across in a long time. And I've been here a while.

Firstly, opinions are just that, opinions. And this person's opinions are theirs and theirs alone but sadly, speak to a larger issue within music, the industry and the fandom experience itself.

This writer attended a Louis show with a friend who was a fan. Their only "knowledge" of him coming from this friend & any indirect knowledge because of his time in One Direction. But from the outset, the writing and pov, comes off immediately biased and judge-y.

"a sea of teeth in braces, puffy cheeks and pigtail buns" - commenting on the appearances of the young fans - note - very young fans "Most attendees are too young to drink legally". Because that's what matters about attending a show. Moving on.

"There are no dancers, there is no set piece, there is no stage show, no performance, no outfit changes"

Every artist curates their live show for themselves & their fans. To achieve the best possible experience and set expectations of how the night is going to go.

Louis has no illusions here. He is not "the greatest showman that ever lived" and HAS NEVER PRETENDED to be. He is a straightforward musician who's job it is to sing and engage with the fans. Which he does. For anyone paying attention, he's definitely come a very long way from those 1st early shows and is far more relaxed than he was back then. BUT and this is a huge but, to see and understand this, you have to know his journey and his story, which this person does not (though she does allude to knowledge of AOTV).

She even comments on it by calling him "the least memorable person in a lineup of five" the very criticism he levelled at himself. It's a gut punch to read a rando say something like this, which, we as his fans know, is something he had always been made to feel like while he was in the band, despite most of the 1D fans acknowleding the loved Louis, as did all the guys. Niall, calling him "the glue; the guy who made sure they didn't lose the plot". This is all surface, she doesn't know really know or see him or his lost potential. Nor is she likley to care.

The other thing that I find troubling, aside from her personal views of his singing talent and lacklustre show and personality, is the comments levelled at fans and their enjoyoment/appreciation of 'good music'.

I won't get into the 3 "types of fans" that she describes present at the show she attended because it doesn't matter to the point of my rant (though is it pretty basic & lacking nuisance but I digress). The one label that did stick out was the "cheerleader fan" and her opinion that these fans are only here to support Louis - who by her own opinion and pov, stated was the least successful/memorable and "is forever defined against his more popular former band mate" for unknown reasons. I'm assuming she thinks they are here because they find him cute? Not sure.

"For the Underdog Cheerleaders, it’s not about music so much as it is about identifying with... the least memorable person in a lineup of five" because identifying with an artist is problematic? Dumb? Unimportant? Allow me to show you the stadiums filled with Taylor's fans, who all identify with her and her music.

That is sort of the fan's job. To support and champion their fave, especially when they are not given their proper due. Now I'm not mentioning TS and comparing her to Louis or vice versa, that woman has GOTTEN ALL HER FLOWERS and good for her, but she goes on to claim that "his lines are almost comically generic" speaking about his songwriting. This clearly tells me she wasn't paying attention or was at the bar or bathroom & must've been absent when Copy of a Copy of a Copy was performed. Or when he sang All this Time or Holding on to Heartache. Because you would have to be dead inside to not have had a reaction to the bridge of HOTH & not hear the emotion in his voice as exhales those words, "Nothing's ever easy, to be honest, I'm not easy on myself". Those lines cut me and left me bleeding on the side of the road when I first heard them. But you know, comicially generic. Whatever.

This entire article reads like a hit piece bought and paid for by some industry insider. She literally lists every critiques antis, toxic Harries and Swifties and even Simon himself have levelled at Louis over the years. But this article doesn't require a conspiracy theory to explain. She doesn't like Louis. Or his music. She finds him boring, and apparently isn't a "deep enough lyricist" for her cold, cerebal mind to engage with.

"I’m left wondering what all these thousands of young fans really care about...it doesn’t really seem to be about the music...at its innermost core, this fandom is about itself."

Let me first say this, music, like most are is subjective. It's personal taste. Some fans love country. Some love rock. Some love Classic metal punk with a side of Beethoven. It's music and because it is one of the most uniquie artforms, its enthusiasts will engage and appreciate it for different reasons. And one of the most amazing things about being a fan of music in this day and age, is fandom.

I am old as fuck. And I can genuinely say that being a fan of music since I was 8 years old and first discovered what the radio did in my parent's living room, I have been a fucking fan. But I grew up in a time where there were no online fandoms. No one to scream about Simon's cute outfit or Billy's snarling at an interviewer that one time, or dying with when Jon BonJovi cut his hair. It was a different fan experience back then. There was no online community. No fandom family to go through it with you when Wham broke up.

Fandom has always been controversial because it has always mostly been made up of young women. And young women have had their taste in music disrespected and vilified for decades (starting with the Beetles). Research it. So I find it kind of sad this writer questions why these fans love Louis and his music so much. Because the reasons don't matter. There are many or none. They just are. That's sort of how art works. You feel it. You don't really see it with your eyes but your mind. Your skins senses it before your heart does. And that is how music is or should be. It should not just be about catchy pop one liners or streams or charting. It's about how it makes you feel. The memories it in invokes when you hear a song many years later. It's the way we still remember the words to that one song from the summer during our 3rd year of high school. How do you quantify that? You can't.

I grew up during a very rich and varied musical landscape, so when I tell you that I have loved almost every genre of music, I have loved it for many, many different reasons. Sometimes (when I was younger) because the lead singer was cute and dressed nice and other times because the beat/bop was too good to ignore to not want to sing from the top of my lungs. NEVER ONCE DID I CARE IF THE LYRICS WERE "GENERIC" or that it wasn't popular among my friends or that it didn't fill my head with mythical imagery. If it made me happy and it entertained me, then it was enough for me. Not every artist is going to be Bob fucking Dylan or Taylor Swift. And that's okay. But Louis IS a great song writer and he himself has said he's not big on writing metaphors and cares more about conveying an emotion and a moment in time and we find that engaging. We are still moved when he sings "Saved by Stranger" or Paradise or Change. Because they are good songs that convey a particular moment, sentiment or emotion we can all connect with.

Look, I respect that not everyone is going to 'get' everyone's fave. I don't get Taylor Swift, but I can acknowledge that she has talent but I don't fucking need a show to enjoy her music. But she does that because SHE enjoys that and it definitely helps justify the cost of her tickets. No disrespect, I blame TM for that, mostly.

And that is sort of the point of him. He is not pretending to be something he is not. He is geniune and down to earth and not full of himself like so many other successful artists are and can be. He earned the right to put on airs coming out of 1D and their success. But he doesn't. He says, "this is who I am, take it or leave it" and for his fans, they take it, in spades.

So go read the article for context (or don't - it's probably better for you blood pressure & mental health) but understand that this one person's pov, is not going change who we are as a fandom. We see something in Louis that resonants with us. Maybe it's the "underdog" mentality. Maybe it's the 'cute lad from the north of England' vibe. Maybe it's his no nonsense approach to song writing and performing, but there is no denying there is something about Louis Tomlinson that draws you to him. You want to engage with him. You want to sing his songs. And you do. We all do.

So please, someone give this man his flowers. They are long fucking over due.

Random Facts about Tavern Rootbeer yay!!:

Tavern is actually my first DnD character! At first, I made them up to solely ship them with Astarion, but ideas start popping up and I ended up writing some lore for them LOL. I polished their backstory when I got into my first DnD campaign with them

The design is mostly inspired by western bartender clothing since I planned them to be a bard-tender (haha, get it?) I was looking for a good idea on how I should run Tav's bard concept in YT comment sections/YT shorts (idk which) and the word 'bard-tender' popped up. I liked the idea so much, I decided to implement it!

They can summon multiple mage hands to play multiple instruments at the same time, like a One-Man Band (can't utilize this concept in battle tho for fair play)

Their main color (teal) and 1st accent color (pink) are picked from the Aurora Borealis!

I'm not sure if I drew it properly, but they have central heterochromia (teal for outer ring, pink for inner ring)

Their hairstyle is inspired by their adopted dwarf mother!

I would really like to yap more about Tavern, but I gotta wrap this up here. If I have time, I think I might make more art, or even short comics with Astarion :DD

Long story short, we tried to spread the animation studio switch letter Sarah posted. I speedran to Xiaohongshu (LittleRedBook/RedBook/RED); Instagram equal for China cause thought no one else would do it. This was before we found out the rest of the crew would send their regards as well.

Idk Mandarin at all so would appreciate any help. Literally just dumped everything into Google Translate.

There's a lot of upset/angry/sad/mad fans on RedBook, Douyin, and Bilibili. Much like how we had the wildfire and death threats on Twitter except I think not as extreme to the point of sending death threats... thankfully. They didn't know about the studio change. Honestly, just trying to give them facts and reminding them they have part of the power to get the show cancelled or not; but also not telling them what to like or not like/stop grieving/etc.

Literally one of the RedBook comments on the S5 trailer LEGO China uploaded contains the picture from my post (cause I added disclaimer that it's not lego official translated). So I definitely would like to have the other translations down if they're just sharing around pictures like that. 😬 And note that they're all sharing the Mandarin ones; not the English even though I did provide them. Yourusername Surprise! The Tortured Poets Department: The Anthology, is out now! This is an album that is very close to my heard, it is my experience through rough times in my life. Almost every time I bring out it is to close a chapter of my life and start a new one, it is the same with TTPD. Writing this album has felt like therapy for me, it has helped me cope and process a lot of different emotions. I also want to thank all the people that helped me write this and helped me through this part of my life; thank you jackantonoff for producing this album, thank you PostMalone and Florance for colabarating with me and thank you Bffuser for being with me through this all.

Stray Kids - Le Gala Des Pièces Jaunes

Honestly, aside from Stray Kids' performance, I wasn't expecting much. But Gala des Pièces Jaunes was actually cool. I watched the whole thing during its rebroadcast yesterday night and I was positively surprised by it. Understand that we aren't used having this in french music/entertainment tv shows mostly because, well, we don't have much shows of that kind here.

So we got GIMS doing lyrical singing. This guy's voice is beautiful I've been waiting to hear that since forever and his perfo, even if imperfect, was impressive. The man isn't a lyrical singer and he nailed it.

A$AP Rocky x Ibrahim Maalouf and the ensemble ? I'm sad France TV hasn't upload a video of Am I Dreaming, but I found someone who did so let me give it to you:

And Stray Kids. Performing with the participation of a symphonic ensemble for God's Menu. It made the thing both noisier and epic af. The fact that they integrated pics of the Eiffel Tower in the background made go happy-honhon-baguette-gigles. And aside from the comment during their intro about how they create "hysteria" wherever they go (I'm never at ease when I hear that specific word used by french traditional Medias 🫠), they introduced them like every other artists who performed that night. And thanks to all Stays who clearly supported every artists, not just them. The vibe in the arena the whole night seemed 🔥🔥🔥 (below, their 1st perfo of the night which was S-CLASS, thx Red Car for introducing them with such energy)

HERES ANOTHER DREAM DISCUSSION 😭 with Tenjiku and BD 1st Gen - twist tho instead of it being my friend IT WAS THEM- THEY TURN INOT THE LIZARD AND NEEDED TO REPAY THE STIPPER 😭😭

But hey they did want to be in my dream so 🤨🤨 there u go ✨ also idk why I always pick BD first Gen 😭😭 it somehow a automatic pick for me dont ask-

In this dream I was in a McDonalds where I was about to order but then this lady cut in front of me. I didn’t want to cause any issues so I let her but then she turned around and yelled at me for cutting her in line and that I should be happy that I even let her be nice. I started to argue that I didn’t say shit and she was the one that cut in-line. The lady started to comment on how youngster don’t respect their elders and then I said “and you have a lot of audacity for a bitch who beings in the dried up sperm gremlin” she got her drink and open the lid and threw her drink at me. So naturally I grab a random cup and threw it right back at her. She started to melt all of a sudden and once she did a bunch of robots came and took the melted lady and told me that I needed to follow them but I was blindfolded. After a while I woke up to being in a weird cave with a bunch of people in a mask and robes- while looking around there was this one person who stood up revealed their face and it was my friend- I screamed wtf is they up for and they said that bc I exposed their secret melt human they must sacrifice me to the great gods- they started to grow a tail and turn green and slowly became a lizard person. I didn’t wanna be sacrificed so I tried to run but my friend caught me and drag me to this pit where they pushed me down and I pulled them down- we both started to fall I was screaming and so were they and we were almost to the end and I ask while in mid air why are they in this cult and their response was “I joined cult honkadonabonka to repay that time I ask a stripper to sniff my foot after I sent her my d-pic”

Rise Rant: Leo's Sword Situation

Yes, this is a call-out post.

I obsessively reload the Rottmnt page on AO3 every day so I'm caught up with most of the new/updated fics, which is how this phenomena came to my attention.

There are a decent amount of fics where Leo still uses an odachi instead of his iconic twin katana after unlocking Hamato Ninpō. I know some Rise fans were unhappy with the reversion to the OG weapons and stick with the mystic weapons, and there's nothing wrong with that. You do you. I've even seen some fic authors write Leo using both odachi and twin katana interchangeably. Great!

My issue is with the group of people who seem to think that post-Ninpō, Leo wields TWO ODACHI.

I was reading a fic yesterday where one commenter (we'll call them OP) 'informs' the author that Leo uses twin odachi post-Ninpo, not katana.

Someone else replied, saying something along the lines of "I thought the garden trowels turn into twin katana. They're different from what I remember."

Then OP responded to the reply like "Nah, it's odachis. Imagine how strong Leo must be to wield two at once!"

And that, as they say, was the straw that broke the camel's back for me.

WHERE DID THIS IDEA COME FROM? Denial? Glorification of Rise? Misinformation? Something else? All of the above?

Odachi and katana are very different swords from appearance alone. You don't need knowledge of martial arts to know this.

Still in denial? Here's the proof.

Katana have thinner blades and wide hilts. Odachi are much bigger and heavier, and in the show clearly have a wider and longer blade.

IRL comparison. The odachi is bigger and longer than the tachi (the smallest sword in the 1st pic) and the katana is smaller/shorter than the tachi.

This size/length difference remains true in the show. The odachi is almost as big as Leo at his full height while his twin katana only take up roughly the vertical length of his shell. There are some inconsistencies because the show has too much going on to really focus on sword length, but still.

If you're still not convinced, then let's talk animator logic. Except Donnie, all the turtles use their OG weapons in the beginning of the pilot episode. The katana in Leo's hands are basically identical to the katana he wields post-Ninpō.

The way the two swords are drawn in the show are also visually different.

Just from a logical standpoint, it's obvious that Leo would not be using two odachi. We've seen him wield his odachi with one hand so it's entirely possible that he's capable of using two at once, but even so it's hardly practical and even just plain inefficient, especially when you take into account his sword-throwing teleportation move. It doesn't matter that Leo could do it. Two giant, heavy swords are just cumbersome and impractical for a fighter who relies on speed and mobility.

Headcanons that glorify Rise are one thing. The "bio-engineered soldiers of war" headcanon is fanon because there are many uncertain factors so who's to say it can't be canon. However, spreading very blatant misinformation of canon, like this debacle with Leo's swords, is not okay.

TL;DR: Rise Leo uses one (1) mystical odachi for most of the series but uses twin katana after unlocking Ninpō.

If you still can't see it, then you are — to put it harshly — either blind or stupid, neither of which are mutually exclusive.
