Hi all, it's been a long while since I've updated several of my online accounts, with the exception of Bluesky and my participation in Artfight 2024. Here's something to jumpstart the blog until I have the means to play catch up!

Some new banner art for DEITIES that I've wanted to complete for a long while -- from the project’s inception when I drew this early sketch. Featuring the divine trio from the main storyline in their animal forms: Set, Horus, and Anubis. Alongside the banner art, I created makeshift references of their animal forms using the descriptions from their respective profiles.

To my knowledge there hasn't been any thorough documentation of Slay the Princess' script/internal logic, which is a shame, because that would make tracking down specific lines/interactions a lot easier.

There's a few good reasons why this hasn't been done yet. Even if you decompile the game and open the various script files, all the dialogue is mixed in with the rest of the code, and organizing all the branching paths and dialogue variants is tricky…. but tbh I think it's doable?

So to demonstrate the concept, here's the script for the entire Wraith route. I chose Wraith because it's not too long or complicated of a chapter to begin with, but also has multiple voice combinations, and multiple ways to enter the route, so I could figure out how best to represent those variations (and also because I like her)

I generally kept the logical structure of the code while translating as much of the syntax as possible to be clear for a reader with no experience in reading/writing code. I also kept achievement/gallery unlocks as well as some cut lines of dialogue in there (pretty sure these got removed in the pacing patches made ~December 2023) because I thought ppl might find them interesting!

Happy wubwub! Is there any worldbuilding that you really want to include in a story but that you haven't managed to fit anywhere yet? A magic system? A location? A language? Anything at all?

N oh there's a *few* I've put in as like placeholders? For worlds that I haven't yet dealt with in the Mist Worlds bc there's a lot there, you know how it goes

So there's the "Everything is underground in massive caverns because topside is toxic af" world because just like. Whole cities in caverns, man. Stupid dramatic structures along the walls and the potential abyss below and obligatory glowing mosses and how that's adapted (this is not a human homeworld)

And then there is also "this world is a series of floating sky-islands" because of course there is. That one? Has a few things written on it, technically, but I haven't yet brought up the fact that the land is floating and there are skyships. Just hasn't been relevant to Kam and the Nightgales ongoing "fuck your private menageries" questline yet

Well, I think most of the secrets on TBOB's website have been found at this point, which probably means there's not much left in terms of the book, and by extension, Bill. I was saying this on Discord, but it really does feel like a swan song for his character, like Alex is finally (and literally) closing the book on him.

Which is FINE WITH ME, I'm glad we got the stuff we did but also please stop giving us more lore on him, Alex <3 We've had enough, time to stop for now <3 Let the fans take it from here <3
