Kiera Reed, upcoming superstar, the new it girl, multi Grammy Award winner…or so she wants to be. Realizing that the music industry has little to do with talent and a lot to do with status, Kiera is willing to do it all to give her music the recognition it deserves. Even if that means fake dating the stubborn, inconsiderate and undeniably arrogant football player, Ruben Dias. It is through lies, schemes and hurt that the "couple" comes to know each other. But through passion, love and sacrifice Kiera and Ruben go through lengths to help each other achieve their dreams.

Ruben never thought that he'd regret returning to training with his team. It's all he ever wanted since his injury. But to have Bernado follow him wherever he went, torturing Ruben with questions about Kiera, was really getting on his nerves. Ruben had absolutely no idea on how to answer these questions without further lying to his friend about his "girlfriend".

"At least tell me where you met her." Bernado pleaded, as he and Ruben trailed their teammates back to the locker rooms after a day's practice.

"What can I say Bernardo?" Ruben sighed. "We met at that award show that I attended last month. Kiera and I were co presenting the award for The Best New Artist and I guess we just hit it off from there." Ruben cringed with his own reply, Bernadro however, nodded his head with interest.

"So you fell for her right away, and she you?"

"I wouldn't say that." Ruben frowned.

"But she's your girlfriend, no?"

"Yes. Kind of. Sort of. We want to keep things private between us." Ruben thought of the pictures he and Kiera took last week. She had managed to run off before they had a chance to post them to any of their social media accounts. Ruben didn't think it was right to make that decision alone. If only Kiera would answer his calls. 

"I get keeping your relationship private for the world. But to hide it from your best friend. I had no idea that I meant so little to you Ruben dos Santos Gato Alves Dias."

"Oh, please." Ruben chuckled. "At least now you know."

"Yes, accidentally." Bernardo exclaimed. "Something tells me that I wasn't supposed to walk in on the two of you making love on your couch last week."

"We weren't—" Ruben was caught by a violent cough.

Bernardo laughed. "Don't lie now Ruben, I know what I saw."

Ruben wishes. It was all his fault anyway. He had scared Kiera away by not honoring their arrangement. He kissed her, without consent. Although Kiera didn't seem to protest, it left him feeling like the biggest piece of shit in the world.

"I'm just joking, man. I am happy for you." 

"You are?"

Bernardo nodded. "I even told Ines about the two of you and she almost dropped the baby in sheer surprise. We thought you were going to die alone, you know."

"Is that so."

"Yes! But now you've got Kiera, a beautiful woman. Who would have thought that she would be your type."

"What do you mean?" Ruben found himself pausing in his step, skeptically regarding his friend.

"You know what I mean." Bernardo smirked.

"I don't, actually. Care to elaborate."

"Vamos, Rúben. Não me faça dizer isso. " (Come on, Ruben. Don't make me say it.)

"Diga." (Say it.)

"Okay, then. A black girl."

Ruben scoffed in response.

"I'm serious Ruben. For the past few years since I've known you, which is a lot of years, you've usually gone for the type of girls that…"

"That what?"

Bernardo chuckled. "Well they all look the same. To me at least. It's nice to see you expand your horizon, besides Kiera is a really talented singer. Ines made me listen to some of her hits last week. We were even thinking about going to the concert she's having tomorrow at that festival by the university.  I can't believe that you weren't planning on inviting us."

"I…I had no idea." Kiera had really been keeping him in the dark since their last encounter. Did that mean that she wanted to end their agreement? Ruben thought he would've heard from her boyfriend by now, however neither of them had made an effort to inform him about, well anything.

That's it, Ruben thought. He needed to see Kiera again, whether she wanted to see him or not.

COMO MEDITAR?/ HOW TO MEDITATE? ‎♡₊˚

a thread in English and Portuguese ! (translator was used, so there may be some grammatical errors)

Um evento canônico de qualquer pessoa é ter se deparado com a meditação em algum lugar, quando criança, por exemplo, é mostrado nos desenhos e filmes de forma totalmente estereotipada e cômica, onde você se senta no chão na posição de Lotus e fecha os olhos.

Mas agora você sendo shifter, não dualista ou praticando alguma lei deve ter escutado pessoas falando da importância da meditação, mas não sabe por onde começar, bem estou aqui para te ajudar!

Bem a resposta é simples, observe, não é um bicho de sete cabeças, observe.

"Mas como eu observo e o que é observar?"

Observar é como o nome já diz consiste em você observar os pensamentos do seu ego(seu corpo físico), pensamentos negativos, alguma lembrança, pensamentos positivos, basicamente tudo o que vier na sua cabeça, observe e não bloqueie.

"Mas eu estou pensando que não estou tendo resultado"

Caso surja um pensamento assim, observe silenciosamente e não faça nada, deixe com que esse pensamento suma sozinho e faça perguntas para si mesmo (irei fazer uma thread apenas falando sobre auto-indagação ou autoquestionamento).

No fim, meditar é mais simples do que você imagina e não é um monstro horroroso. Isso foi o jealous, math te ensinando cada vez mais, beijos💋

A canonical event of any person is having come across meditation somewhere, as a child, for example, it is shown in cartoons and films in a totally stereotypical and comical way, where you sit on the floor in the Lotus position and close your eyes .

But now, if you are a shifter, non-dualist or practicing some law, you must have heard people talking about the importance of meditation, but you don't know where to start, well I'm here to help you!

Well the answer is simple, observe, it's not a big deal, observe.

"But how do I observe and what is observing?"

Observing is, as the name suggests, consisting of you observing the thoughts of your ego (your physical body), negative thoughts, some memory, positive thoughts, basically everything that comes into your head, observe it and don't block it.

"But I'm thinking I'm not getting results"

If a thought like this arises, observe silently and do nothing, let that thought disappear on its own and ask yourself questions (I will make a thread just talking about self-inquiry or self-questioning).

In the end, meditating is simpler than you think and it's not a horrible monster. That was jealous, math teaching you more and more, kisses💋

Bebeu dela o suficiente para que desmaiasse, o sangue de um jinn o deixou ainda mais porte, esperava ter oportunidade de beber outros jinns no futuro. Por enquanto, teria que cumprir seu acordo com Iblis.

He drank enough from her that he passed out, the blood of a jinn made him even great, he hoped to have the opportunity to drink other jinns in the future. For now, he would have to fulfill his agreement with Iblis.

Layudha nem sabe nada do que o marido aprontava, não sabia dos acordos, nem do que ele fazia lá fora, apenas escondia seu segredo de que era um monstro que bebia sangue de animais durante a noite.

A flaming stone fell from the sky.

Qabil mandou suas mulheres e crianças ficarem em casa enquanto ele investigasse. A pedra estava em chamas e ele achou aquilo fascinante.

Qabil ordered his women and children to stay at home while he investigated. The stone was on fire and he found it fascinating.

Ele tocou a pedra.

He touched the stone.

Mas sua mão ficou em chamas.

But his hand went up in flames.

Com o tempo a pedra esfriou.

Over time the stone cooled.

Qabil aproveitou para saber o que teria dentro dela, se fosse algo perigoso, estava preparado. E de lá conseguiu um cristal muito bonito.

Qabil took the opportunity to know what was inside her, if it was something dangerous, he was prepared. And from there he got a very beautiful crystal.

"Eu venci Habil." disse ele "Agora você será minha!"

"Nunca!" ela o desafiou com o mesmo olhar ardiloso que o encarou da última vez que se viram.

"I beat Habil." said he "Now you will be mine!"

"Never!" she challenged him with the same sly gaze that had fixed him the last time they saw each other.

"Infelizmente você não me deu escolha." ele lança um feitiço sobre ela.

"Unfortunately you didn't give me a choice." he casts a spell on her.

E a morde, acreditando que assim ficariam juntos para toda eternidade.

And bites her, believing that this way they would be together for eternity.

Tudo se passou de um sonho, Qabil dormia tranquilamente com Azura.

It was all a dream, Qabil was sleeping peacefully with Azura.

Quando acordou e assustou sua mulher.

"O que houve?" perguntou ela.

When he woke up and scared his wife.

"What happened?" she asked.

"Um pesadelo, tive um pesadelo" era frequente que os sonos fossem perturbadores para Qabil, relembrava da morte do irmão, de sua punição e as vezes Iqlimyia aparecia como um tesouro inalcançavel.

"A nightmare, I had a nightmare" sleep was often disturbing for Qabil, he remembered his brother's death, his punishment and sometimes Iqlimyia appeared as an unreachable treasure.

"Ei, não se preocupe, foi só um sonho."

"As vezes Deus fala conosco nos sonhos"

"Hunf" Qabil resmungou "Ele nos abandonou a muito tempo, lembre-se de que agora somos queridos de Inanna"

"Hey, don't worry, it was just a dream."

"Sometimes God speaks to us in dreams"

"Hunf" Qabil grumbled "He abandoned us a long time ago, remember we are now dear to Inanna"

Azura volta a se deitar ao seu lado, tudo ficou diferente desde que deixaram seus pais. Ela sabia que tinha que cuidar do lar, mas Qabil vinha se tornando um homem diferente a cada dia que passava.

instruments: Not anymore. Probably never again. If I had the space and executive function to practice and didn’t have a deeply ingrained horror of making noise, that might be different.

favorite song: Not a question I ever like to answer—either I don’t trust my interlocutor with the historically touchy subject of music or picking one is simply impossible. That said, there are songs I like and there are songs that I’ve spent my entire commute home listening to on repeat, and in recent years there have only been two of the latter: “Gulan Du” (”Hearing You”) by Mari Boine and “Laavaa” (”Lava”) by CMX. There is this common sense that a student must learn how to think in English to speak the language. That's not right. When you learned how to drive, after some time driving, you didn't even think about it. You just... drove. It was automatic. And rather unconscious this action.

'When linguists talk about unconscious or implicit language learning, they don’t mean learning while you sleep. Existe esse senso comum de que o aluno deve aprender a pensar em inglês para falar a língua. Isso não existe. Quando você aprendeu a dirigir, depois de algum tempo dirigindo, você nem pensava nisso. Você apenas ... dirigia. Era automático. E bastante inconsciente esta ação. É o mesmo com o seu inglês. 1.       Who or what is your biggest inspiration?

Eu acho que a soma das coisas boas de várias pessoas, assim como a superação de obstáculos de algumas e várias histórias que eu leio. Não consigo pensar em apenas uma pessoa ou uma índole.

I think it’s the sum of the good parts of diferente people, a lot of storys about simple persons and simple atitudes or overcoming obstacles. I don’t know, i can’t think of only one Pearson or one nature.

2.       Are you satisfied with who you are?

Não, ainda acho que eu poderia fazer mais e melhor, mas talvez eu deva trabalhar mais o jeito como eu me vejo do que o que eu faço, não sei kkk.

No, I think I can still do so much more and/or better, but maybe the problem is just the way I view things not how they really are, I think I should work on that.

3.       What song describes your current mood the best?

It’s calm and sweet, just how I am right now (and this will change as the college semester goes on....)

4.       What is something about you that you think surprises people the most?

Meu gosto variado em algumas coisas, como odiar certos filmes ou amar/ter visto outros. Às vezes isso assusta as pessoas kkk

My very ecletic taste for everything. Sometimes I have watched or liked somethings and it surprises people (and I don’t know why haha)

Eu tenho meus próprios exercícios de meditação, então eles me ajudam em algumas situações de ansiedade/estresse.

I have my own exercices of meditation and breathing, they help me in very stressfull and/or anxious situations.

7.       If you were a plant, what kind of plant would you be and why?

Talvez umas flores do campo bem na delas.

Maybe some camp flores just enjoying.

8.       What is your biggest personal achievement?

Talvez...eu começando a aprender uma língua sozinha ou alguns aspectos da minha vida acadêmica.

Umm...maybe learning a different language by my own or some aspects of my academic life.

9.       Have you ever broken someone’s heart?

Se sim foi por ter sido sincera com os meus sentimentos e não tenho que me envergonhar disso. Não se pode forçar ninguém a gostar de outra pessoa.

If i did, it was for being sincere with my feelings and I don’t feel ashamed of that. You can’t force someone to like you.

10.   What do you think of angels?

Eu sempre gostei muito das mitologias católicas mais do que das gregas ou romanas então sempre gostei muito de anjos e toda sua hierarquia e história. Eu lia muito quando eu era adolescente/criança. Não acho que são reais até que se tenha uma transmutação genético (como o Anjo dos X-MEN), mas gosto.

I Always liked the catolic mythology more than the greek and roman, so I Always liked Angels, their hierarchy and story a lot. I read much about this when i was little (and during adolescence ‘cause I was questioning a lot of things). I don’t think they’re real till some sort of genetic transmutation give uns some wings (like the Angel from X-MEN)

Nossa, e muito bonito seus gifs e difícil de fazer ?

Oi!! Primeiramente, desculpe a demora em responder :S Na verdade é um pouco trabalhoso de se fazer gifs, mas com a prática você pode aperfeiçoar suas criações e, automaticamente, você vai ficando cada vez mais rápido. :) Para começar a fazer esse tipo de imagens em movimento, tem que ter um programa próprio para edições de vídeo/imagem, no meu caso eu uso o Photoshop CS5. Também tive que baixar um programa chamado QuickTime Player para abrir os vídeos no Photoshop. O processo de criação é bem simples: é abrir um vídeo que você baixou no Photoshop de forma que ele próprio vai transformar tudo em uma sequência de imagens, e depois você vai ter que selecionar a parte que deseja que faça parte do gif, fazendo o “corte” do vídeo. Então, o Photoshop tem várias funções para editar seu gif, como controlar o tempo de transição das imagens, mudar a cor, enfim… como ainda sou uma aprendiz de Photoshop ainda não faço uso de muitas mais funções, rsrs. É basicamente isso, apesar de ser aparentemente simples, costuma tomar muito do seu tempo até que você esteja completamente satisfeita com o resultado. Além do Photoshop, também existem outras maneiras de se criar gifs, inclusive através de sites online, mas sempre dou preferência ao Photoshop, que apresenta mais opções de edição de imagem. Caso você queira se aprofundar no assunto, eu posso tentar achar algum tutorial em Português por aqui para passar para você off anon. ;) Obrigada pela pergunta!

Ask: Wow, your gifs are so beautiful, are they hard to make?

Answer: Hi!! First of all, sorry for the delay in replying :S It’s actually kinda hard to make gifs, but with practice you can perfect your creations and automatically make the process go faster and faster. :) To start doing this kind of moving images, you must have your own program for video/image editions, in my case I use Photoshop CS5. I also had to download a program called QuickTime Player to open the videos in Photoshop. The creation process is very simple: you need to import a downloaded video to Photoshop so it can be turned into a sequence of images, and then you will have to select the part that you want to be part of the gif, “cutting” the video. Photoshop has several functions to edit your gif, like how to control the transition time of the images, changing the color, anyway… as I'm just a Photoshop apprentice I still don’t use many more functions, lol. This is basically it, although it’s seemingly simple, it usually takes a lot of your time until you’re completely satisfied with the result. In addition to Photoshop, there are other ways to create gifs, including through websites, but I always prefer Photoshop, which offers more options for image editing. In case you want to delve into the subject, I can try to find some tutorial in Portuguese here to pass to you off anon. ;) Thanks for the question!

Brand analysis portfolio 401.3

I’d say this was a very strong month to deconstruct my notions of what being a professional artist means, of what should my mind focus on, of what it means to be an Artist. The self awareness aspect also impacted me massively, I’ve been much more in touch with my musical roots like Heavy Metal and classical, also been researching Brazilian Funk that was and still is a big influence where I’m from, a sound I’d hear a lot throughout my teens. This module certainly gave me a better notion of what an original artist is about, what a creative is about.

Week 2 questions ( 05.10.17 -- 10.10.17 )

-- About the aspect of fragmentation of “views” throughout medias, how much my views number matter for a cover song?? How realistic are they, meaning how important career wise?

---Considering the nature of the new business model of music, I feel the covers ( and eventually vlog ) are my form of exercising content Marketing and my only way at the moment of having any work public, of having a portfolio, potentially connecting to/building a fanbase and exercising arranging/producing pop music in general. However youtube eats dramatically my songwriting time and this is my main concern about it. I’m having a hard time letting go of doing the covers since I feel is my only way of showing something musical to the world, with the attention it “deserves”. This in turn makes me wonder why do I think my songs wouldn’t have the same impact. Maybe the fact I’m posting something “numbs” my insecurity of trying to get the same attention with my own music. I just feel I should be spending more time creating my artistic persona and my musical universe instead of having to spend so much time on how many views am I getting on Youtube with songs that aren’t even mine. I think this course is showing me how important it is to spend the time on such a thing as to building your persona as an artist. The funny thing is, it creates a certain anxiety towards my journey, ( maybe a lack of confidence on the industry? ), it feels like I’m wasting time, it feels like I’m overthinking this, thus it generates anxiety, it paralises me and I end up being reactive to this life of complete independence in London.

-- How important is it to have a fan base at the beginning?? Like YouTube views, Facebook likes and IG followers? I feel that paying attention at it distracts me from creating he best music I can, although I feel if I don't pay attention at it, no one is gonna listen to it anyway. This in turn makes me very anxious while writing, the "no one's gonna listen to it anyway" phrase creeps into my head..

--How much would you say we're still dependent of the industry ( meaning labels, PR companies) at the moment? Should we focus on whatever is possible putting our creativity and drive to be big on original music first and recognise our limitations or should we actually actively be our own PR agents?

I asked myself this question on 03.02.17, it’s still pertinent today, although I can answer it a bit better nowadays.

Como se inserir num mercado que parece que tem medo de tais artistas? No sentido de não segurança em repertório e/ou estilo, no sentido de que a maioria das "principais " oportunidades que aparecem e que se apresentam como fontes de renda para o "artista classe média baixa" são na sua grande maioria para bandas function ou cover. A questão dos vídeos do YouTube que praticamente demandam a produção de covers, não dando espaço na vida do artista para trabalhar propriamente em seu material original, enfim, a minha questão segue, como eu, enquanto artista original ( leia-se que tem o seu próprio estilo, suas próprias músicas ) posso me inserir neste mercado? — Translation: How should I insert myself in a market that looks like is afraid of such artists ( meaning orginal artists )? Not in the sense of security in repertoire or style but in the sense that the main opportunities that present themselves as sources of income for the “ low middle class artist” are in their great majority for function or cover bands. The matter of Youtube that practically demand the production of covers not giving space in an artist’s life to properly work in his original material, my question follows, how do I wilst an original artist ( that has his own sense of style and original songs ) can insert myself into this market?

Muitas transformações de princípios fundamentais, me sinto muito mais confiante em me concentrar mais na minha música original, na minha própria identidade enquanto artista e songwriter, em estudar as músicas que realmente me movem enquanto artista e levar uma vida em torno de algo que realmente me move pessoalmente, sinto que eu não gastar mais tempo com os covers me tirou um peso muito grande, me sinto mais livre para realmente fazer o que importa, sinto mais e mais que a criação de músicas próprias agregam muito mais valor à sua pessoa profissional na música do que simplesmente ter um portfólio com músicas de outros artistas que estão até saturada. É legal ter a reação positiva e o reconhecimento alheio mas eu quero isso com as minhas próprias músicas/identidade.

Me sinto muito mais leve sem a pressão do Youtube, não me sentia verdadeiro à minha arte ou ao meu objetivo em geral, parecia que eu estava me privando de trabalhar na minha própria música em função de algo que eu nem sabia se era pertinente. Elaborei uma questão muito boa ( que foi respondida ) para o UD. Entendi qual a prioridade que a música original deva ter na vida do artista original. A questão da vulnerabilidade, a questão da construção desta persona artística, todas as referencias a serem estudadas e esmiuçadas e serem exploradas em função da sua personalidade e representatividade, quem voce representa? Quais ideais? Qual a sua forma maior de mensagem?

Music is going in a very positive and nurturing phase in my journey! I feel I’m reconnecting myself to my creativity again in a very productive and realistic way. Unfortunately I feel youtube occupied too much of the space my creativity towards my own art/music should be in. With UDAS I can now visualize the value of building a persona around your music/art, of really defining your references, compiling your ideas, bringing to consciousness all your identity towards your music. I hearing music differently, consuming art differently, I now understand how important the artist actually is for society in general. Somehow music, singing always felt like such a natural and intuitive way of expressing myself through.

My perception of art evolved exponentially, I’m consuming art differently, I’m hearing music differently, I’m understanding my role as a musician much more now, I’m deconstructing the notion of an original artist, what’s his meaning, what’s his purpose, why do we need them. It makes me look at my act of creation in a very different way, it makes it lighter, with a stronger priority, I’m coming closer to understanding and connecting the dots of where do I fit in this world of music as a professional creative. Songwriter is what comes to my mind the most often, Songwriter before Producer I’d say.

My singing is definitely improving, although I think it's lacking in me the discipline to do the physical exercises that I so poignant about, I certainly left my technique aside for a bit in favour of more personal and logistical aspects of my artistry. I’d say is valid to do exercises at the gaps of time, where you don’t feel it happening so often.

My piano is going okay, I don’t feel so pressured but I do feel like my piano could match more my style, and by saying that I imply less classical and more R&B/Soul piano playing, my original songs included.

My songwriting it’s at the verge of a leap of creative productivity, I’d say that my evolving understanding of my particular sense of what’s my role in art makes me so much more infused with the desire of giving my language and perception of the world to people to listen to. The single act of finding a new meaning to the artist and what’s the artist’s role in society ( not with all its pretentiousness this phrase implies ) transforms my art in so many ways that the business aspect of it, which I’m so keen on, just becomes a consequence of focusing on the latter, as money should be as well.

My production skills at the moment are at a holt, I think it’s valid to first understand how a song is built ( analysis ) and then to focus on exercising the technical recording and production aspect of it.
