Something was wrong with that child, they would say. The little girl who seemed incapable of understanding others emotions, didn't react to her siblings tears when she wrestled them with her inhuman strength. She was seen as a monster, even by her own family. A demon in human skin.
Its for this reason that she was handed over the care of the monks at a young age - believing she could be exorcised in one way or another.
The monks, of course, found no demon within her. She instead was raised on the four noble truths of Buddhism, dedicating all her time to trying to be a virtuous person.
So when that rebellious child, Nobunaga, accused the head monk of her temple of being a greedy, self interested man - she became enraged. She would not let everything she'd worked for be tossed to the winds by being accused of following the guidance of a fake.
But the full name which was uttered aloud, the accusation that this temple was nothing more than his treasury - it forced the truth in front of her eyes.
Though she would continue to deny it for quite some time - brute forcing her way through the shadows with only her spear and her inability to fear pain, a few days of being trapped in the palace finally wore her down. Redirecting her anger towards the man who had used her to help collect offerings for all these years, she vowed to take back the prayer beads she'd made for him as a young child. With this, she formed the pact with Bishamonten, asking him to lend his strength to exorcise the true demons.
In taking her treasure back, she did not realize she'd also taken his - and the place began to crumble. With it, they were able to make their escape.
Now brought back to the real world, she found her mentor's attitude drastically changed - but she could never look at him the same way again. She kept the beads to herself.
Still only seventeen, she now sees the world with uncertainty - but still vows to uphold the heavenly principles she was taught to follow. Still, things have never gone quite back to normal since. Not to mention, there is those strange dreams of coffins lining the streets she keeps having...

If I had more spaces allowed I'd have included Platinum and Rising Tides probably... but yeah, if you think there are other pointlessly genderlocked books here that I missed, feel free to drop them in the reblogs/comments.
Disclaimer: Just because the book is pointlessly genderlocked, does not mean the book or series as a whole is bad. I still find BB and THOBM amazing and WEH decent despite the pointless genderlocking.
Bonus Challenge: If you think any of these options were pointfully genderlocked (or semi-pointfully genderlocked), feel free if you wish to talk about why lol.
