I am working in a haunted house attraction right now, and I perform in the 'scary bog room' as a blind swamp hag cannibal character. If you've read Treasure Island, I'm basically 'Blind Pew', except more monstrous.

This role is great cos much as I like horror I am kind of sensitive and I appreciate the room having mostly just watery gurgles, low creaks and groaning animals sound loops, which is my kind of normal background of choice soundtrack anyway, just turned up to 11. I dunno how I'd handle standing next to a puppet or a speaker that played 5 easily memorable lines of dialogue OVER and OVER again very loudly, surrounded by gore and unpleasant imagery, that must be very tiring for some. Having worked retail I know how aggravating just listening to the same 30-40 songs every store in America plays on repeat is teeth grinding, so having to hear the same shit on repeat every 2 MINUTES must be torture.

Reason I mention this is cos I have yet to really visit any of the many other room stages asides mine, as its a large labyrinthine place, and I've yet no reason to visit other parts of the attraction cos before showtime, the lights are off. But during operation hours, I get to *hear* everything going on in them from beyond. And one of the recorded loops I hear every now and then as I do my job, is this loud demonic voice shriek, that for the longest time I thought was just garbled nonsense word noise. But it was today after just hearing it replay in my mind once again for the millionth time, because I heard it by now THAT often, I realized it was saying:

"IT'S!!! A! BOYYYYYYYYY!!!!!!"

And for the life of me now I wanna know what the heck IS this thing.

Cos I don't know of any evil delivery nurses in our roster, and I feel about 70% certain we lack an evil hospital section (though it's certainly possible.)as I have yet to see any props or cast member wardrobes that seem themed to that sort of idea. So what da heck ARE YOU, mystery screamer prop???

If you could make a trigger warning list for Tsukihime, what would be on it? There's a lot of people who are just getting interested in it with the remake (myself included) and I think having a tw list would be a really nice thing for those getting in now. If you can't remember every scene, a general list is good enough!

Oh boy.

Ohhhhhhhh boyyyyyyyyy.

Alright. So. A little bit of explanation: there's a reason why Nasu actually wants to remake this game. Tsukihime is by miles his darkest and most brutal work, and a lot of it is completely unnecessary edginess made by poor and almost literally starving Nasu and Takeuchi. Kara No Kyoukai wasn't exactly making waves, and the two were living on cup noodles and working other jobs to keep themselves afloat. To finish the VN Takeuchi even made Nasu quit his job and worked two in his stead (biking home in-between said jobs to do art) just so Nasu would have time to write. The nastiness of what they felt at the time is everywhere in the script, and it speaks to Nasu's talent that what came out wasn't complete edgelord garbage.

Did you ever read the original Fate/Stay Night? Did you get taken abrupt when Illya and Berserker first attack Shirou, Rin, and Saber, and Illya orders Berserker to behead Saber and rape the corpse so that Saber would rather die than continue to regenerate and fight? Did you think that kinda came out of nowhere and was unnecessary? The Realta Nua rerelease didn't just remove all the bad sex scenes, they removed lines like those entirely.

Tsukihime has waaaaaaaay more of that, and unlike Fate/Stay Night it couldn't easily edit all of them out and get rereleased without changing the story. It needed to be rebuilt from the ground up.

Personally, I've been so excited for the remake because Nasu has expressed regret before on how misogynistic his writing was before. Specifically he was asked in an interview about his focus on female characters in his works and he something like "I've been told before 'Nasu respects womens rights' because of all the powerful girls in my works, but looking back I can clearly see my own prejudices" especially singling out how Shirou treated Saber in the Fate route and how Tohno Shiki needed to get uppercut by Arcueid. I'm far more excited to see how Nasu will approach Tsukihime with that hindsight in mind more than I am about the visual and music upgrades the VN will get. I don't think Nasu wants to (or even should) remove all the problematic content of the original Tsukihime as this IS a work of horror, but a lot of editing would greatly improve the script.

Releasing Tsukihime R on PS4 isn't just a message of a console release, it's a sign that things will be different this time due to Sony's strict rules (that do not apply to its first party games apparently).

With that being said, a general trigger warning list from memory:

1.) There is a LOT of rape and sexual assault. Mentions of the act, internal narration from characters witnessing or attempting to find someone to rape, Shiki can straight up rape two of the girls on two seperate routes if he makes the wrong choice (he will be killed the day after). There's also a line where Shiki tells Ciel that if she doesn't do what he says, he'll rape her. The context there is that he's extremely weak and she can snap him like a twig so he just shouts the most hurtful thing he can think of, but it's still dumb. If I remember correctly, there's a choice that makes Shiki sexually assault Hisui and it DOESNT lead to a dead end, with most guides recommending that choice to get the CGs. I got annoyed and that's when I made my own guide for the route.

2.) Unknown to Shiki, his family's bloodline carries a powerful violent impulse to kill any non-human they see, strong enough to temporarily take over their wills and delight in murder by conflating it with sexual pleasure. The first time Shiki sees Arcueid, he falls into a trance and stalks her back home before brutally cutting her up into 17 pieces and experiences multiple orgasms while doing so. He then comes to his senses and starts vomiting and crying from what he just did and the shame of how much he enjoyed doing it. They're not taking this scene out (It's in the remake PV) but I'm preeeettyyyy sure Shiki's narration won't suddenly talk about how much his dick is loving this.

3.) Incest. Akiha is Shiki's sister. She's also a romantic interest. Technically they're adopted so it's not incest and they haven't seen each other in 8 years so it's not like they grew up together the whole time, but any tine you got to say "technically it's not incest", it's not great. I heavily doubt this is getting removed from the Remake as it's, you know, a whole route. On the other hand, Akiha has a biological brother, and he is creepy about her so that's 100% guaranteed ick right there, but fortunately he never goes far enough that you can tell if he's a sicko or if he's just really possessive of his sister.

4.) Kohaku's backstory. Koha-Ace once joked that this is the true reason the Remake took so long. It forms the backbone of Tsukihime and one of the main threads that ties everything together, but also Kohaku is the middle link between Fujino and Sakura. You can guess what that means.

5.) Heavy gaslighting, heavier drugs. Both Shiki's past and his present in the far side routes involve an almost hilarious relationship to the truth. Everyfuckingbody is lying to Shiki, and his father literally gaslights him with magic by using hypnosis to conveniently erase some traumatic memories that the old man is responsible for and replace them with falsehoods. Shiki nonchalantly talks about his terrible memory when it comes to his childhood throughout the VN, but the actual reason for that is that he got gaslit to hell and back. In the present, Shiki gets drugged out of his mind by someone in his house, and experiences long and detailed hallucinations, all the while being told by his family that nothing is going on. It becomes difficult to tell what's really going on; if he's really walking around town or if he's in bed babbling at the ceiling. It is terrifying and is a part of what gives the Far Side routes great psychological horror, but it still deserves a TW.

6.) Suicide. At least one character kills themselves onscreen.

7.) Torture. In the Ciel route, Roa tortures someone by repeatedly and slowly stabbing blades into them while Shiki is forced to watch. It goes on for a while.

8.) Grooming. This particular bit isn't a part of the Tsukihime VN itself, but more of a fandom joke thanks to Carnival Phantasm. A big part of Shiki's backstory is meeting the mage Aozaki Aoko as an 8 year old and her teaching him about life in the short time they have together. Due to Shiki's nature he almost certainly would have become an evil person, but meeting Aoko instilled a moral compass in him that is the only thing he has to fight his impulses, which is why Shiki loves his sensei so dearly. Melty Blood later made a joke that Aoko is mad she never got a route in Tsukihime, and Carnival Phantasm later had a whole scene stating the real reason Aoko cared for Shiki was that she was grooming him to be her boyfriend as soon as he turned of age. It's super gross and a perversion of what is literally the sole wholesome relationship Shiki has and the only reason there is any good in him at all. I really fucking hate this joke among all others in the Tsukihime fandom.

Beginning with Epel---because dear christ you opening up the biblical imagery flooded a lot of ideas in my mind so please bear with me bc this is going to be long as shit---Okay so starting with his name Epel. It basically translates into "apple" the apple in christian/cathlolic mythology is often associated with the fruit eve had bitten down. Your previous reply to my other ask already elaborated on this but basically the apple was deemed an "evil fruit" because of it which fits because his appearance is unassuming but very pretty looking (like an apple), Epel goes to a school for villain's and he's in the dorm of the evil queen who specialized in potions (the apple having cyanide is a nudge to this too). The apple being a sign of manhood fits with him as well because while Epel still isn't what you consider a "man" its actually his whole character arc when you think about it. His toxic views on what it means to be a man "poisons" him and ends up just stunting him until he eats the right "apple" instead making him grow into an actual "man" and a person as well. The thing about the golden apples and it meaning immortality might play into what his role in the whole story is as well. Epel is already playing a MAJOR role in chapter 6 which is heavily influenced by greek mythology and ties in with heavy themes of death and revival (ortho) maybe he'll actually be the key to granting ortho the life he needs? (henceforth immortality) maybe he'll even develop his UM and grow a bond with ortho too in that chapter but who knows we'll just see... Yana please update the main story already im begging on my hands and knees please.

His last name being Felmier which means farmer (or tenant farmer but you know what? don't sweat the details) your thing about him being "the second Adam" fucking slaps bc we all know Adam was the first human but did you know that he was the garden of Eden's "Gardener"? (he named the animals, plants, etc. and it was implied that he tended to them too) and a gardener is sort of a farmer too. We all know that he belongs to family of farmers and is a farmer but there's actually a lot of meaning to that as well. Him being a farmer links directly back to Epel's character arc and growth. Farmer's are known to take care of their stock. The stock Epel's family takes care of are apples which is ironic when you think about it because epel actually doesn't take care of himself. He constantly tries to be this "ideal guy" that he ends up poisoning his apples (himself) in the process. Unless he starts re-evaluating how he handles his crops (himself) he can never have the crops (guy) he NEEDS not/and WANTS (to be). On the other hand him being the farmer could also directly link to his role in chapter 8. In the bible god was said to have sowed "seeds" within his people the seed was the holy spirit i think but i dont remember anymore and the holy spirit was, essentially the guardian spirit of the people that allowed/guided them to do good/ god's will. We can already see this already happening in chapter 6 where he comforts/pushes Yuu. Even in chapter 5 where he plants seeds of doubts within the mob's mind about should we really hurt this guy? and even in the current event with him and his hometown where he plants seeds of determination within sebek to make malleus and lilia proud.

Epel could easily be the moral boost for the cast during the fight with OB! Grim---the emotional support they need because when you think about it OB! Grim is OP as hell and the fight with him would be long as fuck. A long fight can often times be discouraging and tiring for everyone, especially when the person whose supposed to be the moral supporter (Yuu) is now missing in the fray. Epel stepping into this role would be a nice way to show his change because Epel is always, always desperate to be an attacker not a defender, but thats just not who he is. He's a farmer and farmer's are not fighters they're caretakers which are similar to prefect's in a way. Him accepting this role would mean that he's accepted himself and therefore is a "true man" now finishing his character growth. (Also him being "the farmer" AKA the citizen of a kingdom (king<--Deuce) fits pretty well, since the people have to often times keep up moral for the others esp if they're supporting and want others to support ther leader-like figure).

But like what do you think? KJSDHJHDS I was going to add Ortho but honestly there's just little to go by with Ortho--for me at least. I honestly don't know how he should be developed as a character (I do have an idea on what his base is--pinocchio, hades, cerberus, megara/hercules but like jhdfkjsdh the details are hard to fucking align) so pls send help because---I do know where to put Ortho in all this---but I don't know how he'll do his said part in this. Epel playing the support role is actually immaculate like that ate up bc my theory is that Epel might develop his UM next and it will have something to do with support (like giving an exceptional power boost to the team, like im talking mega damage) or straight up attack where each hit (bite) landed gives him massive power boosts the same way a farmer having a signature crop and capitalizing off of it.

Tell me why when I was looking up the symbolism of Ortho I came across the meaning of shroud—"a length of cloth or an enveloping garment in which a dead person is wrapped for burial"

Ain't that something especially considering that in ye olde English it was part of a verb that meant "'cover so as to protect’.

We see that Idia and Ortho are very protective of each other, Ortho willing to rally the boys together to save his brother from getting married to a ghost and dying.

Their last name literally tells us all that we need to know honestly—ofc Hades is the God of death but they're so far separated from him that you can't just brush something as substantial as that

Lets not even mention that "shroud" also means to cover something up/conceal something. When you check Ortho's wiki some of his information is practically redacted and he only has a small section detailing his trivia and personality.
