Budgeting for Odoo: Which Features Should You Prioritize?
When businesses consider implementing an ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) solution like Odoo, the first question that often arises is: "What is the cost of Odoo implementation?" Because Odoo implementation costs vary depending on a number of criteria specific to each organization's needs, the answer is not always clear-cut. End-to-end Odoo implementation services are our specialty at Confianz Global Inc., and we're here to help you understand the factors that affect Odoo implementation prices.
Requirement Gathering and Business Analysis
Every successful Odoo implementation begins with a comprehensive understanding of the client’s business model, processes, and goals.
Cost Feature:
Time and effort spent by business analysts and consultants
Workshops and documentation to align Odoo modules with business needs
Functional gap analysis
Why It Matters: This phase prevents misalignment later, saving time and cost down the line.
Odoo Licensing Costs (Enterprise vs. Community)
Odoo offers two editions: Community (Free) and Enterprise (Paid). The cost structure depends on the version chosen.
Cost Feature:
Odoo Enterprise license fee is subscription-based (per user, per month/year)
Extra cost for apps/modules that aren’t free
Community version avoids licensing cost but may require custom development
Why It Matters: Choosing the right edition impacts the overall budget and system capabilities.
Module Selection and Configuration
Odoo consists of several modules like Sales, CRM, Inventory, Accounting, Manufacturing, etc.
Cost Feature:
Cost depends on the number of modules needed
Custom configuration of each module for business use
Time taken for workflow setup and permissions
Why It Matters: The more modules you use, the higher the configuration time and cost. However, it also maximizes ERP value.
Customization and Development
Most businesses require some level of customization to align Odoo to their specific processes.
Cost Feature:
Cost of developing new features or modifying existing ones
Integration with third-party tools (like payment gateways, e-commerce platforms, etc.)
API development for data synchronization
Why It Matters: Customization ensures the ERP fits your operations, but it's a major cost driver.
Data Migration
Migrating data from legacy systems into Odoo is a crucial and cost-intensive task.
Cost Feature:
Complexity and volume of data to be migrated
Data cleaning, mapping, and validation processes
Automated scripts or manual entry requirements
Why It Matters: Accurate data migration is key for ERP success and reduces disruptions.
Training and Change Management
Your team needs to know how to use Odoo effectively for maximum ROI.
Cost Feature:
End-user training sessions
Admin or super-user training
Creation of documentation and manuals
Why It Matters: Training ensures adoption, which directly affects the implementation’s success.
Support and Maintenance
Once Odoo is live, regular support is essential for smooth operations.
Cost Feature:
Bug fixes and performance optimization
Periodic updates and security patches
SLA-based support packages
Why It Matters: Ongoing support ensures stability and minimizes downtime costs.
Hosting and Infrastructure
Depending on whether you choose cloud, on-premise, or Odoo.sh, infrastructure costs will vary.
Cost Feature:
Cloud hosting (AWS, Google Cloud, Odoo.sh, etc.)
Server setup and maintenance
Backup and disaster recovery plans
Why It Matters: Infrastructure reliability directly affects ERP performance.
Project Management and Timeline
The larger and more complex your implementation, the more project oversight is needed.
Cost Feature:
Project manager fees
Use of project tracking tools
Agile or waterfall implementation methodology costs
Why It Matters: Efficient project management helps keep costs in control and ensures timely delivery.

as someone who has insisted that v1 is a sentient being that isn't driven by pure bloodlust, i feel very vindicated
but like, at what cost
#the cost is apparently v1's mental health#congrats on the limbic system little buddy. you can now fear death#v1#screaming crying throwing up etc#don't even get me started on the "no vocal interface detected. unable to complete task' or i'll end up on the news#ultrarevamp#ultrakill update#ultrakill spoilers#okay all that despair and anguish aside. i cant wait to see v1 angst :)#the already dubious ethics of implementing organs in machinery (where were they getting those from) but also somehow making them sentient#AND all that just so they can go die- hey wait this also happens in the murderbot diaries#but the other way around i think#brb i have to make another post

"cash is so expensive for our society and it's so inconvenient we should go cashless."
yeah let's hand a total monopoly on all transactions - and indeed all liquid capital - within our country to about 6 private companies. There is surely no downside to this.
#but it would save businesses about 3% of their operating costs and the government about .5% of its GDP!#ignore the already existing 1-5% surcharge on all card payments#but think about the security risks of cash! you could be robbed! And you have spend capital on security efforts#yeah because no one uses cyber crime/scams to steal significant amounts of digital currency. cybersecurity is cheap for cafes to implement#I'm not even making up a guy to get mad at this is a real serious political push being made by the banks in Australia#it gets regular sympathetic news coverage and the government is considering it within 10-20 years

Going through a straight up comical amount of irritating situations to get the stupid 4* guaranteed ticket from the welcome to sekai campaign. It Will Be Mine.
#I’m resuming this tomorrow it’s been hours now I’m just mad#I’m home because my parents are moving to a different state and I needed to pack whatever was left#and for some reason we just keep old devices when we’re done with them#so I borrow an adapter to allow me to connect my ancient unworking iPad mini to my laptop#factory reset it. i have to reset an old email to access the old Apple id to fully reset it.#it won’t connect to the wifi so I have to reset the settings. i find out it’s too old to run pjsk.#i find an old phone that should work. i reset it as well. I’m able to download pjsk & it takes 20 minutes.#pjsk crashes everytime I try to open it. i attempt to run bluestacks on my computer. bluestacks doesn’t have 64 bit for mac yet.#i get a free trial of parallels and download windows onto my laptop. this takes 40 minutes.#i try to download and run bluestacks on that. m1 macs apparently can’t run bluestacks 64 bit through parallels.#i go find the final old phone that I had forgotten about. it takes forever to charge because the charging port is fucked up. i reset it as#well. it can’t connect to wifi. i try a hotspot on my current phone. service is too awful. i try to do wifi sharing from my laptop.#you have to be connected to the router via a cable for that to work.#at this point it has been like 3 hours. I’m giving up because I’ve been down this route before#when I attempted to run 32 bit steam games on m1 mac#(wine64 doesn’t exist for m1 macs yet -> attempt to run boot camp -> boot camp isn’t a thing anymore on Apple silicon -> attempt to run#several different programs that allow me to run windows on a mac. none of them work. ->#look into linux & give up. -> attempt to implement the unfinished/unbottled wine64 code thru terminal. ->#fuck up and delete some important file & have to fix that (misery inducing) -> keep trying. i think I downloaded a Mac coding program at#some point? i realize I have zero coding knowledge and this is a mistake. -> give up and purchase crossover. game doesn’t even work. ->#3 months later update to the latest OS so I can have enough storage to play psychonauts 2. find out the $60 crossover#purchase was a bad idea because ‘heehee crossover doesn’t work on that buy the new version’ (fuck crossover).#my toxic trait is my belief that I can figure out anything via google and sheer stubbornness. usually this is true. occasionally there are#exceptions to this rule. most of them are because owning Apple products is a mistake.#i think if I reset the router tomorrow I can solve this problem but I can also just go elsewhere with better service or wait until I’m home#now it’s a matter of pride. and also free 4*/I have nothing better to do because I’m stuck here until Tuesday.#<- this is all normal behavior by the way. who doesn’t spend 8 hours ramming their head against a problem every once and a while. enrichment#mine#oh I forgot. i also looked into cloning the app but that would cost money for something that might not even work.#‘just log out and make an alt’ and risk losing my account? I’m stupid enough to overwrite it on accident.

just finished s2 of kaiji and it was good i really liked it but i hope i never see that fuckass pachinko machine again!!!
#i started ep 15 assuming hey the climactic battle against the swamp of despair is probably gonna be like 6 episodes max right#bc the op has hyoudou and roulette so there's a third game on the way#and from about the fourth episode on i kept going man it's gotta end next episode right they can't have That much more they can do with it#TWELVE EPISODES OF ONE GAME OF PACHINKO. YOU'RE JOKING#and watching it animated is one thing but im surprised fans of the manga didnt string him up in the street for this#im not joking i sunk cost fallacied my way through the entire thing in one sitting it was so much fucking pachinko#and spoilers spoilers spoilers but the BUILDING??? the BUILDING. jumping the shark a Little there to be so fr with you all#head in my hands kaiji i love you your life is ridiculous. the last episode having him blow his meager winnings on pachinko like the day#after was insane to me HAVENT YOU HAD ENOUGH???? I CERTAINLY HAVE#augh and like. guhh hes so nice hes such a nice protagonist im. in love with him a little bit#i do wish he was a Little more tempted by the money bc i liked that component earlier on#ah actually i think the main object of the fights becoming Figuring Out How To Out-Cheat The Enemy was less cool#don't get me wrong it was fun but i Really liked the more raw nobody knows whats going on vibes of the first two#and the group dynamics of rrps and the human derby were so delicious to me. also i wish s2 had more torture implements#the cheating thing makes sense progression-wise it's just a preference thing. the human derby hit me insanely hard#so it's kind of hard for anything to compete after that y'know?#actually very happy kaiji is still addicted to gambling at the end. like it's a happy ending bc he's debt free but like. he's not gonna#stay that way. and maybe thats a weird thing to be happy about but i think it's a choice that makes sense#he's got no reason to give it up and has become emotionally dependent on it. the series' concern w gambling as inherently self-destructive#and its sympathy towards ppl who see it as their last hope is like. really cool and idk i think it keeps kaiji real to never let that go#ok i just looked it up and the manga does continue. my ass will be reading it for sure#so idk how faithful the anime ending is but yeah. anyway i really really liked it this was good for me like emotionally#fkmt#ive heard the next arc is mahjong which is sick bc i like 80% know how mahjong works from yakuza#maybe this will help me grasp the final 20% (<- should just look up the rules or something)#what else. right i think it's funny that there's like 2 women total. The most allergic to women series ive ever seen and thats Impressive#the 2nd op is comedically cheeks like just Bad. very fun recognizing the band from the shitass 1st h.xh ed#im like 95% sure hidenari ugaki plays a side character in an episode but it's not listed on his behind the VAs so. alas.#2nd ed is fun bc while i Hate the trope it's doing i love seeing kaiji being put in Situations (clearly)#anyway. it's really good you guys should watch kaiji

GIRL HELP I have CREATED A CHARACTER before fleshing out the storyline and now I've become TOO ATTACHED to change certain aspects of them, or god forbid — SCRAP THEM, for the sake of IMPROVED STORYTELLING
#caps warning#I'm doing everything in the wrong order I think#trying to get straight to the good stuff (characters) before actually implementing the plot scaffolding or whatever you'd wanna call it#I should just do something super short with characters I barely care about because I'm sure it would turn out better ->#than whatever passion project I've been daydreaming about constantly for the past 6 years#sunk cost fallacy anyone?#dusky.text

the way USAmericans talk about uniforms is so funny. "It's too expensive!" not more expensive than having to buy brand new outfits considering the social pressures of trends. "It's too uncomfortable!" that depends on the design and millions of people worldwide get by regardless. “It kills your individuality!” no it doesn’t. This is the funniest complaint by far. It has to be some remnant of red scare right. There's no way you think millions of non-Americans across the world dont have an identity because they wear something assigned for like 1/3 of the day
#anyway uniforms are a neutral thing. they can be good or bad depending on design and implementation#being able to wear whatever you want to school isnt inherently better than wearing a uniform#if i have to see westerners fearmongering abt something thats very common in third world/ non-white countries im gnna riot#maybe hot take but maybe it's a good thing to teach young people that some degree of social conformity is expected#even if it comes at the cost of your personal comforts#being 100% individualistic isnt a good thing#also regarding expense theres a ton of things you can do to bypass that#getting them secondhand or buying larger sizes and then just altering them gradually over the years or just cycling between a few sets#politics#uniforms#my post#idk how should i tag this#fashion

Slab
Slab, Medical Hospital Games, 2012
Thank you to @chrisg97124 for pointing me toward this game. It's a little-known game, very much off the beaten path, and will either be one of your favorites or annoy the hell out of you.
Slab is a medical/police/political drama RPG. Your characters are specifically medical examiners and their assistants. Your job is determining the cause of death for crime victims (or suspected crime victims), to help solve the crime. That's maybe 25-30% of the game, with the rest being interpersonal drama and B-plots.
This is a game where the resolution mechanics totally pivot the feel of the game. The pitch so far might make the game feel like if someone threw House, ER, Law & Order, Madam Secretary, and General Hospital into a blender. The book treats it that way too. However, the way you resolve your medical investigations makes this game feel more like someone blended Scrubs, Brooklyn 99, and Veep.
It uses the game Operation.
Attempting an exam requires beating a difficulty number from 1 to 3. That's how many times you have to extract a "bone" in a row in order to succeed. You get 5 attempts. Not getting your streak means a failure. Getting 3 or more failures out of 5 means a critical failure, where you learn something incorrect about the case.
There are no rules for the social parts of the game. It's a 40-pager that is mostly player advice, NPC examples, and a sample scenario. There's no art beyond a copyright-violating photo of Operation, and the layout is extremely mediocre.
This game does have the advantage of making Operation slightly more fun, assuming you have people who are into the drama part. There's also a definite tension to reaching in with those tweezers. But look at that board. Look at the light-up nose. There's no way you can run a serious game with that nose staring you in the face. The game really could stand to either lean into its goofiness, or use a different resolution mechanics. Even Pick-Up Sticks would be more dignified. Plus, it would come with a built-in pacing mechanism! There you go. Free ideas.
Slab was self-published in center-stapled, half-page format. Covers are usually green paper, though I've seen an orange one as well that I think was an earlier version.
#ttrpg#imaginary#indie ttrpg#rpg#review#operation#bzzzzzzzzzzt#ideas are cheap - implementation is what costs you

i think its kinda funny that ibis paint is regarded as the Broke Artist App or whatever (as opposed to more mainstream programs like csp or procreate) because its free and because of how popular it is with phone + finger artists while im jusg sitting here having used ibis for a cool eight years on purpose.
like i have an ipad and an apple pencil and all theyre very nice and i absolutely could move to a more powerful program i have the resources to do so but my change averse brain has decided they like it here a lot and im not leaving
#not talking smack on phone and finger artists btw. some of my mutuals use their fingers and their art goes crazy i respect that so much#even when i did use my phone (most of 14 crush was done on a phone!) i still had to use a cheap rubber stylus hahaha#anyway maybe ill try procreate someday but also i hate learning new programs and i like ibis's brushes too much#fingers crossed that they add fully custom brushes someday though#like id love to be one of those artists that makes really cool art with ridiculous shapes and nobody even knows until they tell you#younger artists might not know this but modern ibis is STACKED compared to how it was in 2015#like i remember when clipping layers were first implemented. and they sucked. like they didnt fully go over the lower layer#so it just left a gross tiny outline around the shape#and there wasnt any border or text tools either#and there was a hard cap on layer count depending on your device's storage and the canvas size#modifying brushes wasnt even a thing HAHAHAHAH you just used what you had#anyway okiku reference window unrelated shes just there for something else im working on<3#bri talks#for the record all this is to say i think the smack talk towards ibis is pretty unwarranted#like yeah maybe its not as powerful as a lot of these fancy paid apps but i honestly think its insanely good for being a free program#i think getting rid of the ads costs more now than it did when i paid to get rid of them but i mean#free with ads is still a lot more than csp's ever gonna give you!!!!#(psst. secret from me to you! you wont get any ads if you disable the app's data usage and turn off wifi when you use it)#(alternatively just use airplane mode but you can still get texts and stuff the first way)

finally realizing that homeschooling probably gets a bad rap because it’s prooobably generally much lower quality than what i got because most kids have random people for parents. not uh. credentialed teachers. like i had
#so maybe it’s time for me to stop feeling defensive when people attack homeschooling because maybe most implementations are really that bad#i got a much better education there than i would have in public#but at a steep cost of socialization#unsure how that would have panned out anyways but whatever#it’s joever

"we just have to accept that AI is a part of our lives now" no we literally dont
#just because they force it on us doesn't mean we have to USE IT#so what if every website adds it as a feature#if the feature costs more to run than the output then they STOP IMPLEMENTING IT#bully them until they stop its not hard!#send shitty generative ais to the dumps of cryptocurrency and nfts and the metaverse#these things only become our inevitable future if we let them in!#shame them until they stop. we dont need virtual worlds. we dont need alternate money. we dont need AI#there are so many things we could do to help human existence that is simply. not this#nyxtalks

People are like “bro I love TADC but it would suck to actually be in it. I’d hate forgetting my past and my name and everything”
Me, with a shitty enough life that I wouldn’t be opposed to losing my memories and life in the real world so I can reinvent my entire being in a fun circus world:

#‘I don’t remember my name’ bro do you know how stoked I would be if I got to rename myself?#not in like a trans way but in like a ‘I simply like my name because it’s all I’ve ever known but I don’t really have a kinship with it’ way#(that might *still* qualify as ‘a trans way’ but I do not have the emotional stability to unpack THAT)#but bro do you know how PSYCHED I would be to get a new body and new name and just start from scratch#all my trauma? can’t remember the sources anymore!#my self-hatred due to the social norms implemented by capitalism? gone.#no more not doing things because I’m fat! no more issues making friends with neurotypicals!#no debt! no rent! no cost of living!#there are literally minimal downsides#‘but what if you abstracted?’ I’d just slap a post-it not on myself before putting on the headset that says ‘it’s not worth remembering :)’

“Other shortcomings [in communicating science] are evident in television science fiction programming. Star Trek, for example, despite its charm and strong international and interspecies perspective, often ignores the most elementary scientific facts. The idea that Mr. Spock could be a cross between a human being and a life-form independently evolved on the planet Vulcan is genetically far less probable than a successful cross of a man and an artichoke… There must be dozens of alien species on various Star Trek TV series and movies. Almost all we spend any time with are minor variants of humans. This is driven by economic necessity, costing only an actor and a latex mask, but it flies in the face of the stochastic nature of the evolutionary process. If there are aliens, almost all of them I think will look devastatingly less human than Klingons and Romulans.”
- Carl Sagan, The Demon-Haunted World: Science as a Candle in the Dark
#brot posts#astro posting#god this entire book is just giving voice to so many things i think about like wtf hes even talking about the things i bitch about in scifi#albeit i feel like hes not being as lenient as he should be re: the economic limitations#as well as the technological limitations especially for TOS at the time#so like i understand there is a grounded reason as to why all the aliens are just. variants on humans#but like in an actual scifi way. its boring. its inaccurate#wheres the imagination#and im complaining about more than star trek here im also complaining about star wars#and all other scifi#and in that case when broadening it to the entire genre i will also say its not just finances and technology#but also just. lack of imagination.#so its not even really necessarily like a failure to communicate the theory of evolution to the public when creating scifi media#its just like. cost benefit analysis. weighing whether putting in the effort to make all these distinct independent species totally differe#different#is worth the time and money to design and implement#its easier in a media production sense to just stick some funky ears on a human person and call it another species#BUT YKNOW. it is still something i find annoying and something i do bitch about so im so glad Mr Sagan is also bitching about it

It is truly mind boggling. None of the people implementing these features are dogfooding, that seems clear. And they fired all their QA people... Also. They know how these ML models work, surely they be able to predict/guess that this would happen (well, maybe not the worms-> demons one. WTF)
googledocs you are getting awfully uppity for something that can’t differentiate between “its” and “it’s” correctly
#some combination of stupidity and apathy#a hallmark of modern times I sometimes think#oh and greed don't forget that#though TBH I don't know if/how greed plays into this specific one#I mean sure#maybe they are counting on there not being enough competition#to allow users to go elsewhere#especially when the few others are doing the same shit#but#wouldn't it be even cheaper to not change the checkers at all?#and the users would still be stuck#and TBH I'd think building/training an ML model and integrating it#would cost more than implementing a standard checker from scratch even#and again#you could just leave your existing one in place#and not do anything#just bump the version number anyway#or not even since mostly online and or subscription now
