North America 187 years ago today: Trail of Tears (12 Oct 1832) https://buff.ly/2yCEWqy In 1830, there were still five large American Indian groups living as semi-independent nations east of the Mississippi: the Cherokee, Chickasaw, Choctaw, Creek, and Seminole. Under pressure from white settlers, US President Andrew Jackson passed the Indian Removal Act, allowing the government to extinguish Indian claims in the east in return for new lands in the west (in what is now Oklahoma). Nepal's parliament passed an ammendment to include Kalapan, Lipulekh & Limpiyadhura, the indian territories in it's new official map. "Such claim of enlargement of territories won't be accepted by us," India said previously when Nepal released it's new map in May-2020. In 1837, revolution erupted in Guatemala - by far the most populous state in the federation - leading both to the fall of Guatemala City and the brief independence of Los Altos. Just as the federal government in San Salvador had regained control of Guatemala, Nicaragua and Honduras seceded, followed soon after by Costa Rica. Bass Reeves was an American law enforcement officer. He was the first black deputy U.S. marshal west of the Mississippi River. He worked mostly in Arkansas and the Oklahoma Territory. During his long career, he was credited with arresting more than 3,000 felons. He shot and killed 14 people in self-defense. 

Once, he had to arrest his own son, Bennie Reeves for murdering of his wife. Deputy Marshal Reeves was disturbed and shaken by the incident, but allegedly demanded the responsibility of bringing Bennie to justice. 

Bass Reeves worked for 32 years as a federal peace officer in the Indian Territory, and became one of Judge Parker's most valued deputies. Reeves brought in some of the most dangerous criminals of the time, but was never wounded, despite having his hat and belt shot off on separate occasions. 😱😱

When Oklahoma  became a state in 1907, Bass Reeves, then 68, became an officer of the Muskogee Police Department. He served for two years before he became ill and retired.

**Bass Reeves could neither read nor write, but he was able to memorize each warrant after it was read to him, and he never brought in the wrong man.** THAT'S AMAZING!!!
