'Chester Bailey' Starring Reed Birney and Ephraim Birney, a Must-See
Reality, fantasy, delusion, 'Chester Bailey' has it all. A must-see at Irish Rep.

Joseph Dougherty’s Chester Bailey is a mind-bending drama that tests our understanding of reality, as that which we apprehend with our senses. Taken to its extreme form, those whose senses have been deprived cannot know what reality is and must rely on others to interpret “the reality” of…

I headcanon mr boseman as being the same type of irish as my grandpa that plays celtic folk rock at family gatherings while they’re eating at the dinner table despite the fact 99% of celtic folk songs are about adultery, getting drunk, committing crimes and being an all-around irresponsible human being

"Welcome to the Theatre": Diary of a Broadway Baby
Philadelphia, Here I Come
March 27, 2024 | Off-Broadway | Irish Rep Theatre | Evening | Play | 2H
This season, the Irish Rep put on a series of four plays by the late Brian Friel, three set in Ballybeg, a fictional town in Donegal, Ireland. This is the third I have seen, and probably the best of the three. And I'm not just saying that because the cast finally has some old Irish broads in it. This playwright didn't really write women well, or at least didn't write them in larger roles that had space to explore any real depth. Nevertheless, the shows are all enjoyable, and this one packs a punch.
Verdict: A Lovely Night
