a minor headcanon that I will die defending is that reigen initially assumed that mob’s supposed “psychic powers” were just how he rationalized his autism to himself. like here’s an obviously autistic kid, one reigen clocks immediately because he’s, well, reigen, and he’s talking about extra sensory perception and having powers he can’t control, powers that are scary. obviously, he assumes, this is something the kid picked up from his parents, a way for him to rationalize his alienation from other children— that no, you’re not “different”, you’re special (not even going into the parents who think their autistic children are like, aliens) and the other kids can see that you’re special and so they treat you like you’re weird and creepy and they don’t invite you to play and they whisper behind your back but it’s fine, because one day they’ll see how special you really are. and adult autistic reigen arataka, who was also probably-definitely bullied as a child, decides to nip that thought in the bud and gives the whole spiel, that no, “psychic powers” (autism) don’t make you special, and yes, they do make you different, and that’s fine because everyone’s different, and at the end of the day you have agency and you get to decide the kind of person you’ll be, so choose to be a kind one, and he sees this kid hanging off his every word as he tells him the kind of stuff he wishes someone had told him when he was so little and alone, and he mentally pats himself on the back and hypes himself up for another cigarette.

and then the kid makes a teacup float in front of him and he’s like oh. damn. can you kill ghosts

I know it’s generally in good fun when making jokes about how young fujoshi in the early 2000s-2010s talked about queer couples (i.e. “yuri couple, yaoi couple, i see no difference love is love” or “if you police people’s identities you are not yaoiful at all”) but if you look at it from the lens of acknowledging that this, for many of them, is their first time even realising being queer was an option, it’s a very interesting study in realising that this is an attempt at inclusion from the perspective of someone who may not have ever heard of things like gender identity or sexuality beyond “boy” and “girl”.

I don't generally hang out in the Dr. Ratio tags, so I'm not sure if this is common knowledge or not, but it tickles me every time I remember it;

did you guys know Dr. Ratio actually had an in-game cameo before his big debut in 1.6's The Crown of the Mundane and Divine? He was actually in the 1.5 update, The Crepuscule Zone aka Fyxestroll Garden Event!

So in 1.6, we get to actually meet Ratio face-to-face partway through. But even before that, we unknowingly talk to him through text messages in the researchers' group chat.

We know that this is Ratio's username, because we have his achievement:

On Mista's Tetraphobia:

While Mista is highly superstitious, I really don't think his fear of the number four existed his whole life. He might have had other things he obsessed over, like not stepping on sidewalk cracks or counting stairs, or things like that, but I don't think the tetraphobia happened until later.

Like the other member's of Bucciarati's group, Mista joined when he was at the lowest point. The reason he was facing 15-30 years in prison was because he took four shots at those guys.

He probably rationalized the number as being bad after the fact- The kitten his neighbor adopted was from a litter of four, that's further evidence, right? It was bad luck, because of the number four. (Plus, there were only three guys- If he was scared of four before shooting them, he probably wouldn't have taken four shots.)
