“My HOPE is in the LORD always

Psalm 42:5 “Why art thou cast down, O my soul? and why art thou disquieted in me? Hope thou in God: for I shall yet praise him for the help of his countenance.”

This is such a beautiful verse read it and pin it to your heart

Worldly Hope…. a feeling of expectation and desire for a certain thing to happen.

Biblical hope … Biblical hope has as its foundation faith in God.

The word hope in English definition often conveys doubt.

I hope it will not rain tomorrow

I hope my results test results will be good

I hope we can get together

I hope everything will be ok

BIBLICAL HOPE is a reality and not a feeling.

BIBLICAL HOPE carries no doubt.

BIBLICAL HOPE is a sure foundation upon which we base our lives, believing that God always keeps His promises.

Hope or confident assurance can be ours when we trust the words He who believes on Me has everlasting life

John 6:47 Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me hath everlasting life.

Accepting that gift of eternal life means our hope is no longer filled with doubt.

Hope is a small word, but it is one of the most powerful.

It is powerful because in hope lies the power of the human soul to turn to God and live as if His promises are going to come true.

Psalm 31:24 Be of good courage, and he shall strengthen your heart, all ye that hope in the Lord.

Some people when they speak of hope use it as an emotion. They say I am feeling hopeful but true hope is a discipline and a determination to believe in God’s reality and power even when the world seems to be crashing down around us.

The power of hope flies in the face of calamity, saying The world can do its worst to me but still I will hope. My hope is in the Lord. I will know that this is the day the Lord has made and He will take care of me.

The key to surviving any challenge or crisis is hope.

Hope that Jesus loves you.

Hope that He is, right now, working out a solution for you.

Hope that the future you place in His hands will be better than the present you hold in your own.

Jeremiah 29:11 For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the Lord, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end.

Today take a few moments and practice hope. Hope on the Lord . With its power you will overcome all things.

Isaiah 40:31. “But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.”

During the course of our day there are so many reasons to feel discouraged

When we listen to the news on tv we hear the problems in the world

When we face challenges that seem overwhelming

When we have problems that don’t seem to have solutions.

There are certainly times when we can feel hopeless.

The Bible speaks to us about these times

1 Corinthians 13:13. “And now abideth faith, hope, charity, these three; but the greatest of these is charity.”

The verse above teaches us that all of us need hope.

The verse above teaches us that hope endures

No matter how dark or depressing our circumstances may appear, we always can hope in God.

God wants to give us hope in any situation, no matter how dark things might seem.

But we should not merely hope. God wants us to rejoice in hope!

Paul knew what it was like to have hope in the midst of hopeless situations. A perfect example

Acts 16:25.“And at midnight Paul and Silas prayed, and sang praises unto God: and the prisoners heard them.”

Acts 16:26. “And suddenly there was a great earthquake, so that the foundations of the prison were shaken: and immediately all the doors were opened, and every one's bands were loosed.”

See when we look to the world it certainly can provide answers but they only give short term relief.

Know we will be hopeless if we look at circumstances and let the world dictate how we think.

We may go through situations that are threatening, that can cause

Uncertainty, Anxiety, Doubt, Fear

But if we depend on God we can know that He is the source of hope, and we can rejoice in Him and the hope He promises us.

If we have hope we can be filled with joy and peace no matter what is going on in the world.

Today take a moment see the beauty surrounding you and no matter what it is you are going through do not allow yourself to place your hope in the world, the world system, or any human being in the world

Rejoice in the hope that God has given you.

Place your hope in the living God and His eternal power to save and make everything right in His time, in His way.

God is so good . Always keep your hope in the Lord . He goes before you and is always with you. He will see you through everything you go through.”

Israel's 9/11 - Nothing has Changed, It's still about a NAME

I studied the three major religions which have been in conflict since 632AD when forces from Muhammad conquered the Holy Land. When the last caliphate - Ottoman Empire - was driven out of Israel (Christian forces from England led by General Allenby) the Palestinian conflict over the land escalated. Britain gave up being a mediator and the United Nations divided the ancient land. Wars began - 1948, 1967 and 1973 - 50 years before today's war. The central flashpoint of the conflict has been the Temple Mount in Jerusalem, as it still is today. The war ultimately has been about THEOLOGY - not land, not oil, not even human rights. As Christians rush to their rapture charts and any minute timelines, Ezekiel 38 is one of the first books to prove we are in the last days, because it seemingly points to Iran (Persia) and the mysterious Gog (must be Russia). However, we must go first to Ezekiel 36, which acknowledges that God Himself would bring back Jews to their land of promise from the four corners of the earth. However, its not to rebuild a third physical Temple and re-establish the Law, but as Ezekiel 36 says; its "for the sake of His Name." Isaiah 40:26 inspired me to put this verse on my first book - in Hebrew, English and Arabic - because there is only one NAME ABOVE ALL NAMES. Terrorists would love to stop both Jews and Christians and prevent the "two sticks" becoming one.

Us Christians are called to show them Jesus. Scripture says that Jews will see their Messiah when they become jealous for what they see in the Church ... when the "fullness of the Gentiles" comes in - not a quantity but a maturity, a completed Bride made ready for our King Jesus. Until then the Last Days doom and gloom ministers may have to wait a long time. We have too much to learn about the "Kingdom on earth as it is in Heaven."

ENCOURAGING OURSELVES

As followers of Christ, we are not immune from the difficulties of life. Scripture clearly declares that "all that will live godly in this present world shall suffer difficulty" (2 Timothy 3:12). Nevertheless, in the midst of troubles, God always provides a way of escape. The escape, however, is neither the absence of adversity nor the final end of problems. The escape is not a path toward a problem-free life; the "escape" is the company and help of a Person in the midst of our troubles, our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, who will be in  us "in the valley of the shadow of death" (Psalm 23:4).

When our heart is broken and our dreams are shattered – when we face devastation beyond our strength or understanding – we have the  blessed assurance of Christ's abiding Presence within us (Psalm 34:18). His Presence and precious promises alone offer peace and joy in the midst of chaos and disappointment.

If we're facing financial difficulties, for example, we can experience peace and joy! -- Christ is in us, offering His promise of provision (Philippians 4:19). If we're facing a serious doctor's report, we can experience peace and joy --  Christ is in us, offering His promise of healing (Exodus 15:26).

The promise of Hebrews 13:5-6 releases confidence and courage to face every trial:

"For God Himself has said, 'I will never, never let go your hand: I will never, never forsake you." So that we fearlessly say, "The Lord is my helper; I will not be afraid: what can man do to me?'"

"When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; And through the rivers, they shall not overflow you. When you walk through the fire, you shall not be burned, Nor shall the flame scorch you." - Isaiah 43:2

Here are some  steps to follow when you feel the storms of life swirling around you and your loved ones and your peace and joy are beginning to wane (Psalm 27:13). You can and will overcome in the midst of life's difficulties (Romans 8:37):

NOW FAITH IS THE SUBSTANCE OF THINGS HOPED FOR

The only right response is to choose to turn to God and believe His Word (affirming and meditating on the scriptures that will set you free and seeing the end result God is bringing to pass). Only then will you enjoy His Presence, experience true peace and overcome adversity (Isaiah 41:10).

Nothing in Heaven or on earth can prevent us from experiencing His love: "Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? [Shall] tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword?" The answer is no one and nothing can separate us from the love of Christ (Romans 8:35)!

Scripture also reminds us that, "In Your presence [is] fullness of joy; At Your right hand [are] pleasures forevermore" (Psalm 16:11). In God's Presence is everything we need to overcome in every situation (Psalm 46:1).

REJOICE AT MIDNIGHT

What, then, is our responsibility during times of difficulty? Our job is not to muster up the victory ourselves but to believe and declare God's goodness (through affirming and meditating on His word that applies to your problem) and then wait with expectancy to see how He intervenes. And surely our faith-filled rejoicing will get people's attention! Rejoicing in adversity is likely to cause a commotion in Heaven and on earth (Acts 16:23-40) and brings glory to God.

REBUKE FEAR

"For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power, love and a sound mind" (2 Timothy 1:7).

Be aggressive with fear: do not allow that evil foe to gain one inch of ground in your soul!  Instead, take up the promises of God and fight.  Never give up and never agree with your adversary. You are not destined to fear and fail but to trust and triumph, because "greater is He who is in you than he who is in the world" (1 John 4:4).

GUARD YOU MIND AND HEART

Remember: as we think in our heart, so will our life be. We must guard our mind and heart with great vigilance (Proverbs 23:7). We must learn to stay firmly focused upon the promises of God (Isaiah 26:3). This practice alone will assure abiding peace. Think God's thoughts. Do not entertain the enemy's thoughts. It's that simple! God promises to keep us in perfect peace if we will keep our heart firmly fixed upon Him (Isaiah 26:3).

Together with dwelling on God's thoughts, we must cast down the enemy's thoughts, "destroying speculations and every lofty thing that raised up against the knowledge of God...taking every thought captive to the obedience of Christ..." (2 Corinthians 10:5).

ENCOURAGE YOURSELF

 Scripture is filled with encouraging passages revealing God's plan of victory for us. Consider Jeremiah 29:11 -  "For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, thoughts of peace and not evil, to give you a future and a hope." And in Jeremiah 31:17, we discover that God's plans for us are filled with bright hope: "There is hope in your future says the Lord..."

"That He would grant you, according to the riches of His glory, to be strengthened with might by his Spirit in the inner man: that Christ may dwell in your hearts by faith; that you, being rooted and ground in love." - Ephesians 3:16,17

We can stay the course because of the enabling of the strength of the Lord in us!  We are strengthened deep within so that we stand firm for the promises of the Lord for our life. We lean into the Lord with deep courage to believe for the impossible to be possible.

"This one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before, I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus." - Philippians 3:13,14

Through Him, peace is established deep within us, causing us to know beyond a shadow of a doubt that He will lead us and guide us. He will lead us down the paths that He has DESTINED for our lives! This place of trust is beyond the natural ability of a person. A love letter from God to you

My Child, You may not know me, but I know everything about you. (Psalm 139:1)

I know when you sit down and when you rise up. (Psalm 139:2)

For you were made in my image. (Genesis 1:27)

I knew you even before you were conceived. (Jeremiah 1:4-5)

I chose you when I planned creation. (Ephesians 1:11-12)

You were not a mistake, for all your days are written in my book. (Psalm 139:15-16)

I determined the exact time of your birth and where you would live. (Acts 17:26)

You are fearfully and wonderfully made. (Psalm 139:14)

I knit you together in your mother’s womb. (Psalm 139:13)

Isaiah 40:11-26. “He tends his flock like a shepherd: He gathers the lambs in his arms and carries them close to his heart; he gently leads those that have young. Who has measured the waters in the hollow of his hand, or with the breadth of his hand marked off the heavens?

Who has held the dust of the earth in a basket, or weighed the mountains on the scales and the hills in a balance? Who can fathom the Spirit of the Lord, or instruct the Lord as his counselor? Whom did the Lord consult to enlighten him, and who taught him the right way? Who was it that taught him knowledge, or showed him the path of understanding?

Surely the nations are like a drop in a bucket; they are regarded as dust on the scales; he weighs the islands as though they were fine dust. Lebanon is not sufficient for altar fires, nor its animals enough for burnt offerings. Before him all the nations are as nothing; they are regarded by him as worthless and less than nothing.

With whom, then, will you compare God? To what image will you liken him? As for an idol, a metalworker casts it, and a goldsmith overlays it with gold and fashions silver chains for it. A person too poor to present such an offering selects wood that will not rot; they look for a skilled worker to set up an idol that will not topple.

Do you not know? Have you not heard? Has it not been told you from the beginning? Have you not understood since the earth was founded? He sits enthroned above the circle of the earth, and its people are like grasshoppers. He stretches out the heavens like a canopy, and spreads them out like a tent to live in. no kiss A- so tired last night I literally carried her to bed - no great depth of snow on the ground - a good deal drifted - finish this morning tho’ occasional small snow flying about - very cold - F25° at 10 am at which hour breakfast - at 12 ½ read the prayers in 25 minutes and one of Paley’s sermons in ¼ hour - the London mail did not arrive till 10 last night - sent Frank this morning - letter from Messrs. Gray ‘Mr. Barstow had the sum which you want now ready in the Bank at a moments’ notice. we will therefore immediately proceed with the security on Mr. Watson’s return! - wrote in answer ........

all this occurred as I passed Listerwick on my return from the school - had just written so far and copied this letter into my business Letter book at 2 - found the school-girls gone to church - we not at church till 2 ¾ - Mr. Wilkinson did all the duty - better than last Sunday - preached 16 minutes from Isaiah LX.1 - ½ hour at Cliff hill - Mrs. AW- in good humour and spirits - glad to see us as always for the last year past - home at 5 ¼ - very cold - a good deal of snow on the ground and on the road - Read the London paper that should have come last night (but the mail did not arrive till 10 pm instead of 4pm) - dinner at 6 ¾ - coffee upstairs - A- read French - I some while ½ asleep on the sofa - then till 11 looking over Mrs. Bull’s letters and calculating Roberts’ wages
