As a faithful Yokai Watch fan, I have watched every single movies from the first to the sixth. And as expected of this diverse franchise full of official content, some movies are more popular amongst audiences than others.
Yet, while looking for fan content on them, I found the Forever Friends movie to be barely exploited, even though it has enormous potential both in storytelling lore, and characters.
Which is why I'm asking every Yokai Watch Movie connoisseur !
Are there still Yokai Watch Forever Friends fans today ? Fanfiction writers, fanartists, theorists, music composers, video creators...
Let's all unite and share together our works on this unknown Yokai Watch gem !

What is your favorite yokai(Both from Yo-kai Watch and real mythology) ?
YIPPEE TIME TO RANT
My favorite yokai from YKW are Unfairy, Wobblewok, and Arachnia, and they all have one thing in common: gremlin behavior

unfairy is a stupid little rat thing that took down two war generals and then got defeated by a hose. wobblewok is a fucking Thang sealed inside a giant kamameshi rice cooker who lurks the deepest pits of hell and has killed hundreds. and arachnia is arachnia
as for my favorite MYTHOLOGICAL yokai, it'd probably be any of the creechers originating from buddhist lore. tbh that hardly narrows it down but I'm specifically talking about dragons/any of the 8 legions, since a majority of my OCs revolve around those yokai in particular and I think theyre really cool aaaaaaaaa.
the 8 legions (hachibushuu) are a group of 8 different celestial species that reside in the Buddhist version of heaven (<- using that term VERYYYYY loosely, also technically one of the legions don't live in Tendo, they got kicked out, it was a whole thing). They're super cool and powerful and they serve Buddhas/Bodhisattvas and whateva.
The 8 legions are made up of the Ten/Devas (buddhist equivalent of angels but not really), the Ryu/Nagas (dragons), the Karura/Garuda (bird people that eat dragons), the Magorakas (half-snake people), the Kinnara (half-bird musicians), the Yasha (heavenly warrior demon guys), the Kendatsuba (artistic spirits that eat scents), and the Ashura (scary demigod guys that are angry and violent and aren't allowed in Tendo anymore boohoo).
The 8 legions are actually Hindu in origin, but then the Buddha told them all to join his cool kids club (buddhism) and then they did
I could talk at length abt each of these guys but then this would be like 500 paragraphs longer than it already is. so I wont but I WILL do so if prompted
If we're talking about yokai that are SPECIFICALLY japanese in origin, there's a lot of ones that are extremely silly that I love a lot so I'll list them off rapid fire
-ghost that tells you to kill yourself (itsuki)
-rat that fucking explodes (kodama nezuki)
-water behemoth (umi bozu)
-eyeball ass jumpscare (shirime)
-literally any of the women (all the yokai ending in "onna")
-big spider (tsuchigumo)
-tamamo no mae (tamamo no mae)
-any of the several ridiculous prophet yokai that appear once and tell you your crops are gonna die unless you like their image and share it with the rest of the village. it was like the origin of those superstitious chain emails (this includes yokai like Amabiko, Arie, Kudan, Jinja Hime, etc etc, but my personal favorite is Amabie, SIMPLY because it originated from a misspelling)
-any chimera yokai (kotobuki, nue, baku, rokugyo, etc. I just think theyre neat)
but my FAVORITE yokai of ALL TIME

IS THIS THING. NANJAKA.
ITS NAME LITERALLY MEANS "WHAT"
IT ORIGINATES FROM THE BAKEMONO TSUKUSHI EMAKI (1820) AND IT HAS NO DESCRIPTION. NO STORY. NO EXPLANATION. NOTHING. IT DOESN'T EVEN HAVE AN UPPER HALF. THERE'S ABSOLUTELY NO WAY TO EVEN GUESS WHAT THE ARTIST WAS THINKING WHEN MAKING THIS GUY. I DON'T EVEN THINK THE AUTHOR THEMSELVES KNEW WHAT THE FUCK THEY WERE DOING BECAUSE ITS NAME IS JUST "WHAT." ITS LIKE THE AUTHOR WOKE UP AFTER BEING BLACKOUT DRUNK, SAW THIS DRAWING, AND WAS LIKE "ok what the fuck is this"
I ADORE IT. PEAK YOKAI WEIRDNESS AT ITS FINEST
#rant OVER. I just really love ghosts n spirits n all that jazz#yo kai watch#japanese folklore#long post#ask :)

Also me: Usuta broke into the mansion and just became the butler. Itsuki tried to get rid of him but Usuta kept getting into the mansion so eventually he gives up and let’s the weird man live in his house and cook him food.

Spotify Wrapped n.69
You may have gotten your wish, @kumoko-yokai, because of course number 69 is a Sex Song.
69. Dirty Mind by 3OH!3
"Are you kidding me? AGAIN?!" Motoyasu shouted, upon hearing the loud moans starting from the room above the inn restaurant
"Calm down, they're just happy to finally be together. They've been pining for months, it's like a honeymoon phase." Itsuki tried placating his fellow hero
"And apparently some people never get out of that phase," Ren muttered beside him
"Oh, that's not what I'm talking about. I know they're in love and happy, and I'm happy for them. But it's getting annoying." Motoyasu said, taking a sip of his juice, as it was still too early in the day to start drinking, not even noon
"Why?" Itsuki asked
"Because, some time ago, Naofumi and I chatted while watching camp together. We were talking about sex, as young adult men apparently do because he was confused about all my flirting. And he told me he 'Didn't see the appeal', and now they're fucking every chance they get!"
———
Honestly, genuinely, Naofumi had never felt or seen the appeal of sex before. Whenever the guys around him would be talking about sex, or porn, or how hot one of the girls in the class or a teacher's body was, Naofumi would tune them out.
Though that didn't mean he didn't know about sex. If he ever got a partner, he wanted to at least be able to please them, even if he himself didn't see the appeal, so he did a lot of research, and went down a deep rabbit hole that week.
If he got hard, he'd either just distract himself, or just rub one out until he finished with no real emotion in it.
Until he met L'Arc and Therese. That first wet dream he'd had a Cal Mira had been one hell of an eye-opener.
And that they kept happening, and Naofumi could no longer ignore how much he stared at the two. How hot they would look while fighting, or when their hair was wet after a dip in a spring, or when they were making food. And when they smiled.
And then when they finally started dating, Naofumi wanted to try everything he'd researched with them, and he had no patience to wait. Every opportunity would be used.
Much to everyone else's annoyance or embarrassment.
(Sorry this one is kinda short, still not confident enough to write actual smut yet :)

Heeey, I know recently, I haven't written much fics, but to tell u the truth, I found this interesting anime, Fukigen no mononokean. I liked it surprisingly. Sooo I was thinking of writing another tehe!
Again I like Ashiya he's cute but I can't think of him a full time lee. I could add it a liiittle bit. And hence I commence -the execution of a plan with switched Lee's. Personally I want a full lee Abeno cuz he's not childish like my sweet Hanae Ashiya!
Warning spoilers
Takes place in the middle of S2, so... better watch them all before reading
Be your age for once, alright?
The legislator, Rippo, and the pharmacist Kōra both glanced back at the feast they were having while Shizuku decided to leave after a quick meal with the rest.
Ashiya is slowly getting used to the underworld food, yet he insists on having water from the mundane world. Legislator glanced at Abeno, almost convinced he's never planned on joining a late snacking time with yokai and Ashiya.
"Itsuki... what's the matter?" Legislator gave a teasing smile, the blond leaning on his elbow he had barely eaten, but he didn't give a very offensive impression like he used to. He seemed to ponder about something and Legislator intended to get his mind off of it.
"Shut up, I got nothing to say to you"
Ashiya, finally taking the final bite, glanced back at Abeno, who was the only one frowning. Kora gave a slight snicker, "such a frightening face, you may oblige him but you are still rebellious,"
"Oh that's right," Ashiya thought now, as if something jolted to his memory "he had been an exorcist since he was... what seven?"
Abeno frowned, looking at his employee. "Yeah? And...?"
"Sheesh, relax I'm just saying," Ashiya returned a similar frown, but looked away when Legislator gave a gentle laugh "Oho my I always forget how small he was... barely keeping up with Aoi"
Abeno huffed, now leaning back, staring up the ceiling. "Aoi taught me a lot, I can not believe it's been eight years"
Kora sighed in amusement "You were a tiny thing back then, always coming on errands for Aoi,"
"Remember how Aoi always protected you like his eye?" Legislator said.
Abeno blushed now. "Settle down... Ashiya's here..."
Ashiya however, along with Fuzzy the hairball, looked in interest "Tell me more..!"
"No!" Abeno glared now trying to appear threatening and that wavered Ashiya who whimpered "I'm sorry boss..."
Kora chuckled, taking a puff from the pipe, "You know Ashiya, he used to be so cute, he would giggle whenever Justice comes to play the mischievous Yokai game! He loved it"
"Hey! That was-!"
Ashiya happened to be more interested in this mischievous Yokai. He looked at Abeno and then tilted his head in question "Who's that?"
Legislator eyed them very menacingly and when Abeno could react by hitting him, he spoke up "Well humans call it the tickle monster... Itsuki used to be so ticklish and adorable!"
Abeno groaned now, rubbing his temples in frustration, "Yeah, well ...I was a kid,"
Ashiya widened his eyes before laughing out loud "You! Ticklish aw that's rich! What about now... are you still ticklish?"
Abeno became wary. He knew where this was going. "What do you think? I'm fifteen... not seven... so obviously I grew out of it in maturity."
Raising an eyebrow, Ashiya faced him now, turning to the left from his seated position. "I don't believe you... can I test it?"
"Idiot..." a growl came from the blond but he was nervous enough to get up from his seat, "I have something urgent to do... so I'll be going-"
"Where do you think you're gooooing...?" Abeno felt a tug around his kimono, he was surprised by a sudden jab in side. Oh, did he pray that he wasn't ticklish anymore? Yes, he did but sadly the prayer wasn't answered.
"He flinched," Legislator pointed out, genuinely surprised that Abeno was still sensitive. Kora smiled wider, and she asked, "Somethibg wrong, Itsuki? Yiu said you grew out of it,"
Abeno was mortified, his situation wasn't something good, he needed to leave but Ashiya's grip tightened.
"Oh man, you laughing is something I need to prepare for"
"C-cut it out!"
He felt a wiggling finger sneak around his waist, and the touch was like an electric wave. Abeno gasped suddenly puzzled by this creep attack.
"What a surprise," The blue haired boy sneered "The master of the mononkean is actually sensitive."
This was bad. Ashiya is so determined. Yet... he could fight back.
"W-whahahat? Ahahahabeno noho fair!"
Abeno sighed in relief, it was a good thing Ashiya's guard was down. He now pinned the other boy and dug his fingers at his side.
It honestly felt good. The legislator chortle "My how the tables have turned!"
"Nohohoho Ahahahabeno! Yohohohou Ahahahass!"
"Don't blame me..." Abeno shrugged, his hand cordination was messy as he was used to it, but it still drove Ashiya up the wall "You left your weakness open for others, always keep your guard up,"
Abeno managed to fight more cruelly since he needed to divert attention to his opponent rather than protecting his own weakness. It was rare for him to be like a five year old like this five year old.
As if the Legislator read his mind "My, my Itsuki, you got a mean streak, but you still haven't changed."
"Oh hush!" Abeno snapped at him. Still managing to get the boy. Kora smiled at the scene and the Legislator knew Abeno was being too uptight, he was slightly loosened by attacking the other kid. However, Itsuki deserves to laugh as well.
"Hey, dear Fuzzy," Legislator whispered to the hairy yokai who squeaked in interest, still enjoying Ashiya's laughter.
"Itsuki is being a little mean right? I say go get him so Ashiya can attack him back"
The hairball nodded excitedly, wanting to be involved at last. He jumped up at Abeno's back which sort of made him stop to turn back.
"H-hairball? What's up?"
Fuzzy curled itself by the crook of his neck, snuggling in a tickly way which made Abeno spasm in shock "W-wait! Wait! Dohont do that!"
The first giggle was out. Ashiya recovered quickly. This time, he was pushing Abeno down with a smirk "Thanks Fuzzy, for harrassing me all this time. I say we teach this master a lesson"
"A-Ashiya, hold on!" Abeno raised his hands defensively."Dohont you dahare!" Already Ashiya wiggled his fingers into his waist like he had done before. Ashiya grinned maniacally "Oho Abeno, I was planning on going easy on you but after that stunt... uh uh no"
"Youhuhu imbehehcile! Knohohohock it ohohoff!" Abeno can't fight back. This time, Ashiya was going all out, and it made him keep his own spots hidden. Abeno happened to be more ticklish than Ashiya, yet he was good at hiding it.
"Oh, Ashiya, need some help?" Legislator cheerfully crawled towards them, and to Abeno's horror, they had the same mindset right now.
"Ahahahahshiyaaa! Ihihihihi wihihihhhilll kihihihll youuu!" Abeno thrashed harder, finding less room to move with his wrists pulled above his head.
"Abeno-san~, are you ticklish here?" With that, Ashiya slides his fingers up to his armpits, and Abeno's jolt clarifies that he was.
"Ihihihi wihihihill -Gahahahaha DOHOHOHONT GOHOHOHO THEHEHEHEREE!"
His giggles turned to cackles, and his struggles became more unbearable. He kicked around, not caring if he did end up kicking someone. "Wow! Ashiya, you know Itsuki's spots haven't changed at all, but I know Justice had a giggle spot right around his shoulder blades, so let's flip him!"
"WHAHAHAT AHAHAM IHIHI A TOHOHOY??"
Kora giggled, "I know you're enjoying, dear legislator, but please let him breath"
Ashiya shook his head as he helped turn a red-faced Abeno on his stomach. "He's tough, well except when it comes to tickling, but he can handle more, right Abeno-san?"
"Ihihi hahate you! I swear ihihif you don't lehet go ihihill fire you!" Ashiya paled at that, but the Legislator made Abeno start in a panicked cry when he wiggled a finger messily around his back "Oh Itsuuukiii~ don't forget I make the rules... soo I command you to let Ashiya tickle you"
This guy knows how to abuse his power. Poor Abeno, Ashiya mentally noted.
Kora continued to drink her sake as she watched them play around. Ashiya was insistent to get Abeno after all.
"WAHAHAHAIT! IHIHIHI HAHA AHAHA -EHEHEHENOUGH! PLEHEHEHEASE!"
Ashiya widened his eyes upon that but didn't stop the shoulder massaging. "Did I hear wrong, or did he just beg?"
"Itsuuukii~ You better not let any yokai know the master's weakness... to beg is such a humiliation. " Legislator snarkily scribbled his fingers over his shoulder blades that earned a loud squeal -something alien to their ears coming from Abeno's voice.
"AHAHAHA SHUHUHT UP!! FIHIHIHINE IHIHI GIVE IHIHIM SORRY FOHOHOR ALL THOHOSE TIMES IHIH YEHEHELLED AT YOUUUU AHAHAHASHIYAA!"
Ashiya smiled fondly, "Come on, abeno, I tickled you because you needed a laugh, obviously."
Legislator let's Itsuki go who finally curled to a giggly ball once they stopped. "You should be nicer to me, Itsuki... I needed an apology boy Ashiya"
Abeno growled now with leftover giggles. "Yeheheah? Screhew, yohou!"
Kora chuckled "Dear Rippo... that must have been harsh,"
Legislator feigned a pout "Our little Itsuki used to be so nice and cute... but now he's mean and cute".
Abeno straightened glaringly at him sharply. "I am not s-so stop it..."
Ashiya nudged him, making Abeno jump "Hey... Abeno -I mean, Haruitsuki... you need to laugh more"
Abeno blushed. It was both the compliment and the usage of his first name.
He sheepishly murmured "Well what can I expect from a five year old like you? Ashiya -Ahem Hanae..."
Ashiya's eyes sparkled in wonder, almost too annoyingly for Abeno to handle "Y-you said my name too! Wow Itsuki... you sure are sweeter than you look"
"Don't get used to it, I'm still your boss".
"Then Itsuki-san?"
Abeno hummed in agreement, showing not much interest, though his heart raced when he heard this. "Whatever you say, Hanae"
Kora and Legislator exchanged looks, and they began drinking together, watching the two boys with pride. Yokai snacks seemed to trigger a new friendship between the master and employee.

Something I realized is that Keita and Koen have a LOT of similarities. They both have red as a main color, a legacy kept by their respective grandfathers (the creation of the yo-Kai Watch for Keita and the Enma clan for koen) and both of them share the same ideals about the bond between humans and yo-kais, but also played a major role in it.
It's true that I never quite paid attention to this before, but these two do indeed have a lot in common !
I guess you could say that both are also a sort of ambassador in their own kingdom as well, with Koen in the Yomakai and Keita in the human world-
I also realised something, but their personalities when together could also be associated to Itsuki and Shin from Forever Friends !
By going even further, we could even theorize that this is the same friendship, simply in a different timeline ! And while we know that Nathaniel and Shin are from different families, I think this theory still has some charm nonetheless !
Itsuki, the independant, rebellious but somewhat mature twelve year old, not by choice but because of the loss of every one of his family member. And Shin, the unnoticeable mailman, living an average life (in the beginning at least) who inspires Itsuki to become a great ruler to make his friend proud.
All of this could sound quite familiar to Koen and Keita !
Koen, the young king without a biological family, pressured into perfection to be as responsible and mature as possible, and Keita ! The average boy without much to tell, who will help his newly made friend (that being Koen in the second movie) to become a better ruler that everyone can be proud of. Which would also explain why Koen immediately put his trust in him, beyond simply his role of Watcher, and why they always get along so well.
And even though Shin and Keita are absolutely not related whatsoever, maybe the sole fact of finding a Watcher with a similar personality to his former friend was enough for Koen to make friends with him !
But if this whole argument still makes a tiny bit of sense, it goes to show that mourning is definitely a difficult task for Enma... even if he manages to see Shin again several years later, this poor kid must have felt so much guilt all this time...
But anyway, thank you very much for pointing these similarities out because I would never have noticed them on my own ! I don't really pay much attention to Keita in general, so it's especially fun to link him to Koen once in a while ! XD

As you said your considering watching "Star Twinkle Pretty Cure" loke with Heartcatch plan too do reviews??
I just finished Episode 16 a few days ago, so I’m about a third of the way into the series. I’ll give my thoughts on it so far.
While I still prefer Tsubomi for her character development, I think Hikaru/Cure Star is a very likable lead with all of the energy she brings to the table. I like how she’s a shameless sci-fi nerd with her love for all things space, mainly constellations and aliens as shown in the first episode. She’s just so full of optimism and eagerness, she fills the role of leader well with how she can easily rally the other Cures. A good example of this was in one episode where Hikaru drew up a redesign for the team’s damaged rocket ship (which I’ll get to later) that the other Cures like so much, they manage to get the repairs done much quicker despite spending some time adding on accessories because of how motivated they are. This is a kind of character trait I really like seeing for leaders, being able to motivate the others to do things outside of the battlefield. Hikaru is just a really fun character so far, and is currently my favorite this season.
Lala/Cure Milky is also a really interesting character so far. Being an alien, most of her episodes deal with her getting to know the human race and its cultures, mainly through her friendship with Hikaru. She starts off more apprehensive to her situation on Earth, but does become more open to learning more. At the same time, this does lead to a flaw where she tends to blindly focus on pure logic and hates failure, much like a certain other alien primarily dressed in blue. There’s an episode where Lala transfers to Hikaru’s middle school and has a pretty bad first day with how little she understands the social protocol, and the next day, she relies on her AI to help her blend in more and understand to the point where she forces herself to stop using her verbal tic “-lun” at the end of her sentences. It shows how much she hates failure, and it says a lot about her character. She still manages to grow past this flaw a little, and I’m looking forward to seeing how else she develops in the series.
Elena/Cure Soleil is basically the big sister of the team kind of like Yuri from Heartcatch, though without the added baggage the latter had for most of her series. She’s referred to as “The Sun of Mihoshi Middle School” by the other characters. Really subtle there, writers. Granted, it’s referring to her friendly attitude towards her fellow students mixed with her athletic skills, which naturally draws a lot of students to admire and look up to her, even Hikaru. Unlike Itsuki, she’s much more relaxed around others and even asks Hikaru to stop referring to her as her sempai, especially since Hikaru has seniority over Elena as a Precure. She’s generally the more level-headed one of the team, and tends to rely on diplomacy more often, like when she diffuses an argument between Hikaru and Lala early on, and later helps to convince some aliens to hand over one of the MacGuffins/toy tie-ins, the Princess Star Color Pens peacefully after helping to defend their planet. From what I’ve heard, Elena and the fourth Cure were added to the show last-minute thanks to executives, but I think Elena fits in with the cast pretty well so far.
Likewise, Madoka/Cure Selene is referred to as “The Moon of Mihoshi Middle School” because she’s... high-class? Fancy? Rich? She’s basically meant to be a foil to Elena in some regards. While Elena is more lax and friendly, Madoka is more stoic and a bit of a perfectionist. While Elena has a happy relationship with her family, Madoka has a much more tense relationship with her father who hates aliens for no reason, and will take any chance he gets to remind the audience how much of an asshole he is. I think he’s running for the Worst Father in Animation Award after hearing Gabriel Agreste won it three years in a row. Madoka generally has the hardest time as a Precure because of how she has to keep it a secret from her xenophobic father, and seems to be struggling with her loyalty. This is mainly because I’m so sick of family drama from Miraculous, but Madoka’s character arc revolving around her relationship with her dad is honestly why she’s my least favorite out of the four.
Fuwa is nothing more than a plot device/cute thing to look at. I mean, at least the fairies in Heartcatch could actually speak in complete sentences, and not say their names like a Pokemon. Prunce is honestly a much more memorable character with his dialogue and plays the role as comic relief well.
I really like the villains so far. They’re all aliens based off Yokai and have their own approaches to the monster of the week formula. Kappard (a Kappa), is a vain warrior who tends to use the imaginations of others to create new weapons to use against the team. Tenjo (a Tengu), views her troops as pawns and uses the the imaginations of others to turn them into giant versions of the show’s grunts, the Nottorei. Aiwarn (a Hitotsume-kozo), is a trickster who uses corrupted Princess Star Color Pens to create the true monsters of the week, the Nottoriga, using the imagination of others. There’s also an Oni-themed alien who’s their boss, but he hasn’t really done much yet. Overall, these villains have some really creative motifs that I really want to see more of. It kind of reminds me of the movie Treasure Planet which did something similar by combining fantasy with sci-fi.
Another thing I really like about this show is how it generally plays with certain sci-fi tropes. The very first time the team goes out into space to search for one of the Princess Star Color Pens, they get into trouble with the locals, who see it as a sacred artifact, and even before that, look down on the Cures for not having fur like they do. It’s a pretty realistic depiction of making first contact with an alien race like that. Another interesting episode is in the aforementioned episode where Lala goes to school for the first time. You’d think that since her kind work are automatically educated by artificial intelligence, she’d be really smart, right? Actually, because of how much she’s relied on an AI to help her do everything, she’s so inept that she can’t even calculate double digits in class like 15+10, and generally struggles on her first day of school.
Generally, I’m really enjoying the show so far, and I’m looking forward to continuing it.

Answering old asks
m(__)m
That is all.
Emojis aside, I really am so very sorry it’s taken me so long to get around to responding to messages since the manga ended, I’ve been extremely busy in my personal life so it was kind of all I could do to cope with the manga ending during that time too, haha. As of now even the last volume and fanbook are already out, but I’ll leave a few comments on the messages I’ve been sent as they were. I’m also grouping together messages that are more of readers’ own comments rather than questions for me and responding all at once, so please forgive me if I couldn’t get around to responding individually!
“My heart pains to seeing the end ahahhhhh ashiya and abeno parted waysI really really really hope for something to come next. it kinda feels sad for meabt this ending”
“Honestly I like the ending but I didn’t like how the author left out information about abeno’s background. For instance, what happen to his parents?, where did he come from?, how did he come meeting Ao?,etc. I really wanted to see all of that, including how ashiya told his mom and sister about sakaes death. Other then that, I REALLY LOVE THE PROPOSAL!!! What is with shouen manga/anime with these different type of propsals like, “I’ll skate infinity with you”, “ I will die so you won’t be alone”,etc. Like COME ON!!! I also want to see a adult ashiya and abeno 🙏.”
I feel the same, I love the ending in its own way but I also expected so much more and I wanted to see more of their adventures. So I respect sensei’s decision but that just means it’s a free-for-all in terms of headcanons after!!
“Now that the manga has ended, I really wish the anime hadn't screwed up with the season 2 ending, so we could have gotten a continuation... I really miss animated Fuzzy running around, Ashiya's screaming and Abeno's "Hah?" (´꒳`)♡”
I wonder what they’d do for a season 3 if it ever came to pass. There are a few ways they could go about it like kind of just continuing down the manga, or they could ignore what they animated at the end of s2 and then keep going (Ao no Exorcist style), or I don’t even know, honestly. No matter how dissatisfied I am with how they do anime, I’d still watch it though. :U
“Wow I can't believe it took me so long to realize this! Recently, I noticed that the dynamic between Hanae-Sakae-Aoi-Abeno and the plot revolving around them is very similar to what happens in the manga Switch (Kai-his dad-Hal's dad-Hal). The relationship between Kai and Hal is similar to Hanae and Abeno's. Kai's dad died and this is related to Hal's dad, who has survived thanks to the death of his friend (Kai's dad). Plus Kai manifests what seems to be his dad's personality when he's in danger.”
“So much tears! I really don't want this to end, but I knew it was too good to be true. Though, the way the way the manga ended felt like a new beginning. Hanae made a promise/vow to Itsuki that he will return, no matter how long it takes, so he hopes Itsuki will wait for him. Also, that picture of Sakae and Aoi on the counter makes me hope that Hanae and his family (plus Sakae in heaven) has peace now. I felt like crying more. Thank you for everything and I hope to see you again!”
“ok rip Abeno's past... rip yellow eyes... rip this cliffhanger ending...“
“Suddenly I see that anon ask about OPs and EDs and partings & separations in a new light... darn. (╯°Д °)╯╧╧”
Fittingly enough, Sensei mentioned in the fanbook that Mononokean has always been a story about meetings and partings too, but still...! More...!!!
“I think this ending is very fitting. Ashiya was never truly part of the youkai world, he was always taking one step in only to step out soon after, and going back and forth between loving youkai and being afraid of them. Ashiya's state of employment has always had a "temporary" feeling to it, including, for example, the fact that he never changed his clothes, and his Mononokean-crest clothes were "borrowed". UItimately, Ashiya didn't seem like he could dedicate his life to youkai, unlike Abeno. (continuing from my previous ask about "Ashiya not being part of the youkai world") It wasn't only Ashiya's feelings on the matter that kept him away from the world of youkai. Abeno contributed greatly to this, as he constantly tried to keep Ashiya away from the Underworld, from danger, from knowing too much, and from youkai themselves, even though Ashiya was technically his employee. If Abeno had tried, even a little, to pull Ashiya into his world, Ashiya would have responded to him, I'm sure. (another "Ashiya not being part of the youkai world" ask) The fact Abeno actively blocked Ashiya from his world was the greatest reason why Ashiya didn't feel like he belonged there. But he still felt connected to Abeno, at least. Rather than dedicate his life to youkai, Ashiya seemed like he might dedicate it to Abeno. Yet this feeling was also met with a wall. By the time Abeno realized how precious it was, having someone who saw the same things as him by his side, it was already too late. (last ask in the series "Ashiya not being part of the youkai world") Ironically, the Mononokean and most other youkai were more open and willing to welcome Ashiya into their world. Still, if and when Ashiya can see youkai again, I hope Abeno will have realized the opportunity he'd wasted. When these two reunite, I hope Abeno won't push Ashiya away again. That's all. I wanted to share these thoughts with you. Please let me know your opinion on the matter. Thank you for reading! :)”
I think you’re right on point with the themes you’ve pointed out and I believe that’s what Sensei was going for too, but it doesn’t change the fact that it’s terribly lonely for them to be separated from each other. ___(:3 At least we’re left with a (high) possibility of them getting back together (heh) and even moreso with the fanbook extra content too, so here’s to their continued adventures.
“I am not sure if you are familiar with this anime/manga/light novel series “No. 6” because the end of the Mononokean manga series appears similar to the end of the former in terms of the bond between the two male leads if you get what I mean.”
I know of it and it’s something I’ve always meant to get around to watching, but I have not seen it yet!
“Nooo, I can't believe it's over! 😭 But you know, ever since FNM's ending was announced, I've been looking for something to fill the void this precious story would inevitably leave in my heart, and then someone said "Watch Natsume Yuujinchou, the themes are similar and it's heartwarming". So I started it and, oh boy, I've been screaming at every episode because I'm not used to people openly showing their affection! 😂 So much hugging, hand-holding, head-patting... I'm melting!! (send help pls)”
“Hello Spring! We've reached the end of this wonderful journey, it seems. It's time for a new start. Thank you so much for everything you've done for this fandom, it wouldn't have been the same without you! Seriously, thank you, from the bottom of my heart! 😌 (PS: I forgot to mention, I opened this blog on my old old laptop, with its 1280x720 resolution, and the "ON YOUR OWN, BUT NOT ALONE" strip was right there covering Ashiya's and Abeno's faces, I had such a good laugh! I'm sorry I laughed!!)”
“This ending was really beautiful and yet sad. The promise made me hope but.. it's still so angst that maybe it will take years to hanae be able to see yokais again. I wonder if wazawa-sensei is okay, like, usually when a manga is ending they advertise previously, but the news was so suddenly that made me worry about sensei's health status. I also don't think that the publisher canceled the manga. So, I still don't know if this sudden ending was planned or not.”
Haha when I first made that tumblr theme, I kind of liked the effect that the strip had in covering Ashiya and Abeno’s faces somehow, but it always moves around depending on resolution lol.
In the afterword of the last volume and the fanbook, Sensei touched lightly on their various reasons for ending the manga (which I plan to cover eventually... when I have time...) and while I don’t think we’ll ever know fully, I got the impression that sensei personally seems in good health and even expressed that they would like to make another manga in the future, so as readers and fans we don’t need to worry too much.
“The manga ended well but we are left with unanswered questions : What is Abeno's past ? / Are golden eyes and hair special ? / What about Aoi's face ? / What really happened the day Aoi came back injured ? At this time she wasn't infected but Sakae died trying to save her (something is wrong with the plot) ?! / What about Fuzzy gender and his "human form" ?”
I will just say we got answers to some of those questions in the fanbook, and some we did not. :Y Please hold on for fanbook info!
Hey there. I’ve just read through the last chapter of the Mononokean. What a story. There are still a few questions that left me wondering: (1) What is the origin of the Mononokean itself?, (2) What is the origin of the Influence that flows within specific characters of the story?, (3) If Aoi was able to provide young Ashiya with a part of Sakae’s “Influence,” could it be done again?, & (4) If Ashiya could still see Fuzzy, what do you think this means for his potential abilities?
1. We were told in the first fanbook that the Mononokean was originally a well-loved tea ceremony room, and as we know in the Mononokean universe (also generally a concept in Japanese culture/religion, you can looked up the term “tsukumogami”), things that are used/loved sometimes end up gaining a sentience of their own, and if I remember right that’s how the Mononokean came to be too. (it’s been a while since I’ve reread the first fanbook so if I’m wrong please do correct me). As for any other specifics, we only know that Aoi and Abeno have been the first and second masters respectively, I’m pretty sure.
2. This was answered in the fanbook, which I’d like to summarize eventually! But Influence seems to be a natural power that develops in babies who have been in close contact with yokai before they were born, and golden hair and eyes are also a sign of that.
3. The partial Sakae Influence (lol wording) that Aoi gave to Ashiya as a baby was what Ashiya returned to Aoi to save them. I suppose since they’ve already done it before it’s technically possible, but that’d defeat the whole purpose of what they tried to do already haha.
4. I think it’s as Abeno theorizes, that Ashiya always did have a bit of ability to sense yokai on his own as well!
“I was looking for more FnM content and found out about your fanfictions on Ao3, so I read them all and oh my Lord! They were *so* good!! And I was very surprised and very glad to find out you ship Ashiya x Abeno, I'm especially happy because you ship them in that order, since I was so sure everybody would be shipping them in reverse order! Thank you so much for sharing your works!! (≧▽≦) ♡”
Thank you for your kind comments, I’m always so happy to hear someone loves my fic! I do love writing them even though I haven’t done it for a while and I have so many ideas and WIPs that I’ve still never gotten around to completely, but I swear I will do them someday... While I do think the reverse order is more popular in general, there’s a decent AshiItsu (the Japanese term for the ship haha) fandom thriving on Twitter!
Again thank you so much everyone! Look forward to fanbook info I’d like to get around to posting about soon!

Send Me a Fandom Ask Game
@nitghowl1600
Yu Yu Hakusho, I love that, thank you.
Let's dig in and see what the answers are.
The first character I first fell in love with: Hiei!

My sister actually read it first, and then we watched the anime together, and from the moment she showed me his first picture I knew I would love him. And I was RIGHT. He's a bastard gremlin (affectionate) and that's just the ones I like, so it was really no surprise that he rocketed right up to the top.
The character I never expected to love as much as I do now: Yusuke. Despite being the MC, he was an absolute ASS (which was all part of his character development but I digress), and I really, REALLY didn't like him. Brash, crass, sexist, and irritating, I did not want to spend any more time around him than was strictly necessary. Now, of course, if you've seen any of my posts or tags, you'll see that he's shoved his way into my heart and I love him very dearly. He's amazing, and his growth, maturity, and tenderness are something outstanding.
The character everyone else loves that I don’t: Yoko Kurama. Idk who was a closet furry in that translations room, but giving the giant, muscled fox man a "time for spankings" line was a damn choice and a choice they kept on making. Every time he opened his mouth I braced in horror and despaired of what he would say, cause ALL OF HIS LINES ARE LIKE THAT. (My sister assures me that wasn't in the manga….that...I have yet to completely finish). I do not like Yoko Kurama. But the fandom does. Oh, how they do.
The character I love that everyone else hates: Itsuki. He's not great and his relationship with Sensui is (imo) weird at best and unhealthy at worst (though I wouldn't go so far as to that its abusive). But idk man, he's a compelling, interesting character. He's a demon, who was being hunted by Sensui and was about to be killed by him, but Sensui thought he was funny and hot I guess so he let him live and they started hunting together. After Sensui's horrific (in every absolute sense of the word, holy fucking shit) realization about the humans he had been working to protect, and he was so shattered and disturbed and at loose ends that he had to make multiple personalities to protect himself and process what happened to him, Itsuki stuck with him. They may not have dealt with what happened to them in the healthiest manner, and Itsuki stepped back and let him go when he should have intervened, but what they hell else were they supposed to do, really? He supported and loved Sensui in the best way he knew how, even if that way turned out to be pushing him to the point of self destruction. Their last moments together were very moving, and solidified him as an intriguing character to me. Idk what the fandom feel for him is, but my sister greatly dislikes him, so that's who I'm picking.
The character I used to love but don’t any longer: Lame, but I don't think I have one.
The character I would totally smooch: Yukina. But a nice, cute little forehead kiss. She's precious and want all good things for her, and I'd like to kiss the top of her head like a cat. I don't have any character I'm attracted to though.
The character I’d want to be like: I admire Kuwabara. He's strong as hell and can fight like crazy, but he runs off of love. Like, the power of love is what motivates him. He's kind, loves his friends so much that he was willing to debase and humiliate himself so that no harm would come to them, he loves cats, his sister, PEOPLE in general and he just genuinely wants to make the world around as good as he can. He applies himself to his studies and is determined to make himself into a good man, and if I could be at all like him, I would consider myself to be a success. (The dub frickin' BUTCHERED him and all of his character traits btw)
The character I’d slap: Koenma. He deserves it. He bears a lot of responsibility for the REALLY bad stuff that happened and the unnecessary pain and torment that several characters went through. Aside from that he's also a little whiny and should really treat his second better but hey, what else is new?
A pairing that I love: YuHieiRama. This is not the most *popular* paring in the fandom (30 fics on Ao3, minimal art, there's…there's next to nothing, basically) but I LIKE it.
Kurama treasures Yusuke, he doesn't even attempt in any way to hide that fact. Also Kurama has two hands and he knows it. There's a reason Hiei/Kurama is one of the biggest ships in the fandom, their flirtation, instigated mostly and many times, by Kurama, is too much to be ignored. Hiei had THIS wonderous line "I would kill you before you could touch him (Yusuke)" which is HUGE for him and his character because his whole shtick is that he "doesn't care" about other people (he does sometimes he just doesn't show it) but when he thought Yusuke was in imminent mortal danger, he didn't hesitate even a moment to VERBALLY THREATEN (AND THEREBY ACKNOWLEDGE HOW IMPORTANT YUSUKE IS TO HIM) the one posing the danger. And he would have. And he's not a big talker, so this was a BIG MOMENT to him and his character development. Also, though not as open as Kurama, and more bashful about receiving, he reciprocates the flirtation, and seems almost to expect or wait for it at times (and then he tries it out on Yusuke, it's so cute). On Yusuke's end, he admires and respects them both, he likes them both and he just genuinely WANTS to be around them. They are right up there with the top five or so most important people in his life and his devotion is obvious. There's also the common bond between them with Kurama and Hiei being yokai, and Yusuke (SPOILER) also now being one. They have an understanding of each other and a deep care and they make such a wonderful unit, and their interactions, both between any of the two of them, or all three of them together, are just LACED with care and affection and (I think) romantic, flirtatious undertones. *deep breath* I'm so sorry about this.
A pairing that I despise: Yusuke and Keiko. And NO its not because I ship Yusuke with someone(s) else, its because I never believed them as a couple, and they seem supremely unsuited to each other. They kept saying "I love you, I love you, I like you, I miss you, I admire you, I want you" But they never seemed to show it, to prove or display that in any romantic way. They do care for each other, I'll believe that. But IN love? No. They make a horrible romantic couple, and I dislike it greatly.
#So I'm gonna come into your inbox and explain#But I muffed it a bit and you just delete that long ass response put of your inbox#So so sorry#Nitghowl1600#Mailbox#Yu Yu Hakusho
