Are You Scared?

Test of Courage with Itto, Diluc, Kaeya, Ayato, Tighnari, Xiao

A/N: i wrote this in one sitting after playing the new event, it’s kinda fun! i just want to do stupid shit and flirt w kaeya..... sigh,,, i want to write more but the more i write the more i realize why i dont lol

A. Itto

“This is going to be too easy!” Itto loudly laughs as he places his hands on his hips. His chest heaves with each breath, pressing high into the air with a slight arch in his spine.

“Yeah, so easy,” You murmur beside him while your eyes cast to his chest. For a moment, you’re glad no one else from the gang joined the two of you in trying the test of courage.

If you get alone time with your boyfriend, you’ll always be glad.

However, you do wish the atmosphere was more fitting for a date.

Lamely, you trail behind Itto as he confidently walks through the Chinju Forest. As much as you hate to admit it, the test is boring and you can see why no one else wanted to join the leader in coming here.

“Come on, (Y/N)! Let’s go, let’s go!” Then again, when Itto holds his hand out to you and his eyes light up with excitement, you find that the boring task becomes fun. “I mean, seriously, when is this going to get scary?” Despite Itto’s confidence, you can feel his hand trembling.

You watch his worried eyes glance from one part of the forest to another before repeating the action all over again. The forest is nearly empty of all life and is illuminated in the same way that it always is so you don’t really understand what there is to be wary of.

“Moo-” Behind you, Ushi appears almost out of thin air. He bobs his head up and down while trying to get your attention.

“Oh, Ushi did you get separated from us?”

“No! It’s a ghost, (Y/N), get it together!” Itto quickly places his hands on your hips and throws you over his shoulder. He holds you tightly against him while slowly backing away from the familiar cow. “Stay back, ghost Ushi!”

The cow lets out a confused moo as the oni sprints away with you flung over his shoulder.

In a situation like this one, Itto is not going to fuck around and find out.

Diluc R.

Before the test of courage even begins, Diluc wants to quit.

He can’t stand to see your fingers shake and your shoulders tense. You look absolutely frightened and the man hates it.

“We can always return home whenever you feel like it, dear,” Diluc attempts to steady you as you wobble through the forest, and with a firm hand on your lower back, he manages to keep you from wandering off the path. “if you are feeling afraid.”

“I’m not scared?” You stubbornly shake your head and from the press of your lips, Diluc can tell that you are lying. “Why would I be afraid?”

Diluc isn’t really too sure himself either.

“Remember that I am right here with you,” Diluc’s calming words and gentle touch do wonders to calm your racing heart. In the darkness of the woods, he lifts his hand and creates flames licking off the tips of his fingers. With this, the darkness isn’t as scary and you’re entirely too grateful for the light.

A chilly breeze flows through the air and dims the flames in seconds. Diluc scoffs.

He already knows who is behind the trick, he can hear his brother and the bard giggling from a bush beside the two of you.

“Please, let’s return home,” Diluc quietly begs as he squeezes your hand, he can’t take another minute doing this pathetic test and seeing you scared.

He doesn’t understand why your eyes start to light up at his pleading.

“Oh my archons, are you scared, Diluc?” You gasp and cover your smile with your hand, who knew he had a weak spot?

Diluc wants to roll his eyes, he wants to ask ‘really, is that what you think’ but he bites down on his tongue.

If this will get you out of here quickly then he’ll confess to anything.

“You know me so well, my beloved.”

At some point, a few weeks later, Diluc deeply regrets forfeiting and leaving early. He’d take it all back to silence the bard and cavalry captain’s ongoing laughter.

Kaeya A.

“If you get scared you can just hold me tighter,” Kaeya’s lips brush against your ear as he teases you, his sultry voice causes you to shiver. How he managed to convince you to do a test of courage is something you’ll never understand. “my little scaredy cat.”

“I’m not going to get scared.” You bite back but your hands are already firmly wrapped around his bicep. Kaeya teasingly flexes the muscle underneath your touch and sends a wink your way as he guides you through the Whispering Woods.

The forest is so much creepier at night. A fog has rolled throughout the woods, coating the floor and area surrounding you in a murky substance.

The terrible weather ultimately impairs your vision and you can only see a couple of meters in front of you. Not being able to see freaks you out much more than you care to admit.

Subconsciously, you hold onto Kaeya even tighter.

“Who is on the scaring team again?” Your heart beats rapidly in your chest, thumping against your ribs with each step that you take. It’s as if you’re on high alert and you’re trying to catch any sound that passes by you.

“I believe Klee and-”

Suddenly, a twig snaps beside you.

“Did you hear that?” You shush Kaeya with a pathetic swat of your hand before slowly turning to look at the shadow looming behind you. The tall figure towers over you and wields a claymore high above their head. At the sight of the large weapon slowly falling towards you, you fear you may have passed in shock.

Kaeya’s not sure he’s ever heard you scream so loudly before in his life, and by some miracle, you muster the strength to pull him behind you as you run away.

“and Diluc,” Is what Kaeya had wanted to add when you asked him who was on the scaring team. Perhaps if you had known that, this wouldn’t have been as terrifying. Then again, knowing you, perhaps not.

K. Ayato

“Shall we try being on the scaring team, my dear?” Ayato asks as he hands you a frightening mask, one that is bright red with eyes all over its canvas. You nearly drop the item in shock but, turn it over and place it face down on your lap. Your husband smiles as he looks for another mask, a blue one to match your own. “I think it will be fun, don’t you?”

His hand reaches to gently cup your cheek, holding your face in his palm. The warmth of his touch spreads across your face and throughout your entire body as you reach up to hold his wrist.

“I do think it will be worth our while.”

Ayato looks pleased with your answer before he places a soft kiss under your ear. One of the reasons that the two of you get along so well is because of your shared interest in games.

“We’ll make the perfect team.”

With Ayato’s hydro talent and your gift of cyro, he creates an uncomfortable sound of water dully hitting a rock as you form a chilly breeze. If any of the participants dare to look your way, they’ll see the masks sitting neatly on your faces and then run away in terror.

That includes the deeply adored housekeeper.

“Lady Ayaka, we must go!”

You had to hush your husband, who laughed louder than he was supposed to, as you both watched Thoma drag Ayaka and the traveler out of the forest. In fact, you’ve never seen the housekeeper with such a sense of urgency except when it came to Ayaka.

It seems that Ayato has never found anything funnier.

“Hush,” You scold as he braces himself with his hands on his thighs, your husband’s shoulders shake as he attempts to catch his breath. “we are really good at this, hmm?”

Ayato tries to calm himself down as he moves his arms to wrap around your waist.

“Yes, we are, aren’t we?”

Tighnari

“Ghosts aren’t real. Don’t be afraid,” Tighnari’s hard truth causes the glare that you send him to harden.

“I know that.” You grit your teeth in irritation, fear only fuels your anger. The desert can be rather spooky at night, especially where the two of you have been patrolling.

If you have to see another dead hilichurl or any more blood scattered across the sand, you might just turn around and go home.

“Imagine that this is the children’s game from Inazuma,” In his own way, this is Tighnari’s attempt at comforting you. He doesn’t express it much in a traditional way but, he does care about you. “I believe it is called the test of courage.”

You quietly continue to rummage through the sand, searching for the lost plant bulb that was spotted near the area. With puffed-out cheeks, you wonder why the two of you got sent out so far for a commission that has little to do with either of your professions.

Your fingers knock against something small and sort of hard, you reach for it blindly. With little hesitation you grab the object and pull it out from the sand and hold it up into the air, allowing it to be illuminated by the moonlight.

Tighnari jolts are your pitiful scream.

“(Y/N)?” He lunges for you, pressing you down to the sand and covering your body with his own.

“I’m done! I’m going home!” You screech as you try to push him off of you, you’ve never been so fed up with a task before.

Tighnari subtly eyes the hilichurl mask you managed to pull out of the sand.

“Don’t be scared,” He attempts to soothe your fear, to provide you with some sort of comfort but, it is too hard to do as his lips being to quiver. “i-it’s okay.” Tighnari can’t stifle his laughs no matter how hard he tries.

Instead, he focuses on patting your head to try and get the frown off of your face.

Xiao

“It’s called a test of courage,” You explain to Xiao as the two of you walk through the abandoned village of Wuwang Hill. Xiao doesn’t look impressed in the least as he crosses his arms over his chest and scans the nearby area. “basically we prove how brave we are by not getting scared!”

“Hmm,” By the sound of it too, Xiao isn’t affected or bothered by this game in the least. He doesn’t seem creeped out or any different than his usual stoic self. Mentally, you thank him for being such a strong pillar. Just having him with you makes this so much easier already.

However, you still manage to think that this test will be easier said than done. The eerie atmosphere sets your senses on high alert regardless of how composed you think you are.

But, the adeptus tends to think differently.

“It’s calming, isn’t it?” Xiao asks as he tilts his head up to look at the dark gray sky. You try to face the situation from his point of view and admire the quiet noises coming from the forest. When you think about it, the sound of the bugs humming and the gentle breeze in the grass is comforting.

“It is,” Too eagerly, you reach for Xiao’s hand and hold it in your own. He doesn’t pull you away or shake you off one bit, he lets you hold on until your heart is content. “we should go on walks together more often.”

Gently, Xiao squeezes your hand and his sweet touch sends your heart soaring. In his presence, you entirely forget why you were here in the first place. The test is now long forgotten in your mind as you instead focus on walking with him.

If you would have looked any closer, you would have noticed that it was just the two of you in the forest the entire time. When those on the scaring team saw the adeptus hanging off of your shoulder, they left without a second thought.

The game is much easier than normal for you thanks to Xiao.

Hiii good morning/afternoon/evening!

I just saw the event post and I have come bearing a request.

If you do not mind..Can I please request a sagau kinda crack fic where there’s a tournament/competition being held in Teyvat where vision users must prove their love and devotion to the creator by fighting to the death (oooh brave scaryyy fighttt~) and whoever loses a.k.a dies are “punished”

Everyone thinks this “punishment” is horrible. Like they’ll be sent to a place where they can no longer feel their creator’s grace.

But little do they know this punishment actually just turns them into one of the creators thousand of plushies.

So they just sit there in the bed, unblinking, soft and squishy, watching their beloved Grace going on about their day normally

I recently read the Zhongli turning into a plush fic and my mind went “How about the other vision users turning into a plush?” Also I think my request is more like a reverse!isekai than sagau..Sorry..!

Fem or GN!Reader please! (While I prefer fem as I’m a female I would like this to be as inclusive as possible for other people out there..! So GN is most likely more suitable)

Of the anemo boys, I chose Kazuha because I'm actively trying to get him c2 now, I hope this fic will help me lure him. It was a beautiful sunny summer day, the warm wind playfully ruffled your hair, it must have been Venti's antics. Ordinary inhabitants of the regions came to support the vision wielders from their nations, hoping that one of their people could become one of the seven champions, bestowing glory on the entire nation. For your allogenes, as they said, participation in the tournament was the best way to show their loyalty, love and devotion to you. You chuckled, their willingness to put their lives on the line for a slim chance of winning and getting your confession amused you.

You shifted your gaze to the archons standing next to the throne, they were forbidden to participate, otherwise the outcome of the tournament would have been too predictable, and it was not interesting that way. Although you allowed adepts and youkai to participate, and it may not have been fair, you just wanted… more entertainment. Venti's offended expression popped into your head when he knew he couldn't compete in the tournament. On that day, he followed you like a tail, not unstick for a second, hoping that you will change your mind. The reaction of the other archons was much more restrained, but each of them was certainly upset by the impossibility of participating in the competition. After all, they were your most loyal followers, following you for thousands of years, and the fact that you denied them the opportunity to show their loyalty to you frustrated them. But your desire was above all, so they simply accepted your decision.

Catching your gaze, Zhongli bowed his head respectfully.

"Do you need anything, Your Grace?" The geo archon's eyes were full of awe and willingness to fulfill your every wish.

"Please feel free to tell us if you need anything." Ei joined the conversation. "Perhaps you would like to taste the Inazuma confections? I have specially brought them for you, and I hope they can please your exquisite taste, Your Grace."

"Sounds wonderful, I'll gladly taste them, in that case, Zhongli, could you make some fruit tea?"

"With pleasure, Your Grace." Zhongli bowed.

You smiled brightly at both of them and noticed how Zhongli's breath hitched for a second, and a blush spread across Ei's cheeks. You followed them with your eyes as they went to fulfill your requests. The tournament was about to start and up to this point you wanted to face some of your especially favorite allogenes. So that you instructed the servant to bring the two people you named.

Itto could be heard from far away, explaining something very loudly to Kazuha walking beside him.

"Of course, I will definitely take the place of one of the seven champions, it cannot be otherwise, because I am the great and invincible Arataki Itto, the supreme, the one and oni!"

"Behave yourself, we are in front of the Creator." A smile appeared on Kazuha's face as he met your eyes and knelt down on one knee with his hand on his heart, Itto follows his example.

"I'm glad to see you my allogenes, you can get up from your knees, let's leave excessive formality."

Kazuha and Itto obey your order, you could see a spark of curiosity in their eyes, why did you ask them to come? Just do not think that they were unhappy with this, for them it was only a joy to be next to you, your presence always warmed their hearts.

"I just wanted to wish you the best of luck for the competition, you are one of my favorite followers." Your smile was more tender than the most expensive silk.

"I'm honored to be one of your favorites, Your Grace, I won't let you down, I promise." There was a fire in Kazuha's eyes that should have led him to victory.

"That's right, we will definitely win! With Your Grace's faith in our strength, we will definitely become champions! Ushi and I will show you excellent fights and after the victory, maybe Your Grace will agree to fights with bugs."

"Well, if you win, I'm really up for a couple of fights." You giggled. "I won't delay you, you can go back to the others."

Bowing once more, Itto and Kazuha left, and a minute later Zhongli and Ei returned.

"As you requested your tea Your Grace, the flavor is based on sun-dried mulberry petals and should have a sweet aftertaste due to the addition of zaytun peach juice." Zhongli gave you an elegant porcelain cup and placed the teapot on the table next to the throne.

"It's a dango Your Grace, bon appetit." Ei handed you a plate with colorful balls strung on a stick and poured with sauce.

You take a bite and the sweetness in your mouth. Tasty. The widths are tender and seem to melt in your mouth, you cover your eyes with pleasure. In the blink of an eye, you eat the confection and look at the plate with sadness.

"It was delicious." You put plate on the table and pick up a hot mug of tea and blow on it before you take a sip.

Ei lights up with joy "I'm glad you enjoyed it, maybe you'd like some more sweets after the tournament?"

"I won't refuse such a generous offer." You lean back on the throne and continue to sip the tea, just like Zhongli said it had a sweetish aftertaste. Not the worst tea you've had in your long life.

Soon the iron smell of blood will be in the air and the people will cheer for cruelty. What a rotten world, but how do you like it. Perhaps among all your creations, they were the most bloodthirsty and devoted. Your beautiful dolls, ready for incredible deeds, are all covered in blood and with wide smiles on their faces until the very end. The last sip of tea marks the beginning of a bloody dance from which seven will come out victorious, and the rest… what about them, something much more interesting awaits them.

It's time to start the tournament. Thousands of eyes are attentively watching you with bated breath as you rise from your throne, walk to the edge of the loggia and put your hands on the railing. A wide, joyful smile appears on your face and you begin to speak.

"Today, on this beautiful day, there will be a tournament with life-and-death battles between my precious allogenes. The names of the seven winners will be covered with glory and they will be personally blessed by me. The losers will be punished after the resurrection. The stakes are high and if anyone wishes to opt out, now is the last time you can do so." Your voice, picked up by the power of the anemo, resounded throughout the arena.

You look around the participants and all you see in their eyes is the will to win. Their souls burn with fiery determination and no one is going to retreat. Even if the punishment is excommunication from your divine presence, a terrible event, the thought of which makes their hearts bleed, they were willing to take the risk. Your gaze lingers on Kazuha, his serenity standing out a lot from the nervous anticipation of the other allogenes, which some of them hid just a little more carefully than others. Also striking was Itto's high spirits, whose wide smile was brighter than the sun. No wonder they were your favorites.

"Since there is no one who wants to withdraw, let's start the tournament." You returned to your throne and prepared to watch magnificent battles in which every drop of blood spilled was dedicated to you.

The number of contenders for victory gradually decreased. After each battle, the sand in the arena changed its color to red more and more, and the screams of the crowd became louder. Childe quickly and brutally cracking down on the next opponent, ignoring other people's attempts at resistance and having time to wink at you at the end of each fight, before someone else's head flies away from the body. Diluc whose phoenix mercilessly roasts the next unfortunate to the bones, so that the smell of burnt flesh could be felt a few more fights after. Distracting the attention of opponents with the help of hydro illusions and the swordsmanship of the Kamisato clan brought Ayato victory after victory.

Unfortunately, your favorites' chances of winning were dwindling every second, each of them was badly enough wounded that he might not survive his next fight. However, you never really believed in their victory, but still called them to give them hope. Yes, and then it will be funny to watch how they will apologize to you for losing, when you also personally bestowed your blessing of luck on them. Though they'll have to survive the resurrections to begin with, it's a pity you didn't say how quickly it would happen, so they would have been in a very unusual position since then, but you didn't think they'd complain.

The last fights have passed and the seven winners have been determined, as you thought Kazuha and Itto were not among them. The spectators from the regions whose participants won shout even louder than before, while the residents of the losers are depressed and look enviously. You go down to the arena with Zhongli and Ei, and when you almost slip on the blood-stained sand, you grab Geo Archon's hand. Zhongli's muscles tense up under your touch, and the warmth of your hand is felt vividly even through the fabric. He closes his eyes, hiding his pupils that have become vertical for a second, you were so close to him, exciting close. Your warm palm burned through him, making him feel butterflies in his stomach, as mortals said.

You do not focus on what happened, and without letting Zhongli say a word, you quickly approach the winners. The Allogenes' eyes flare jealously when they notice you are holding Zhongli's hand, but you don't let that feeling flare up and start talking.

"Congratulations to you all on your victory, your strength and devotion have been proven, this evening there will be a ball where you will be honored and I will perform a blessing ritual."

They bow respectfully and praise you, saying that it was only by your mercy that they won. How happy they are now standing in front of you among all the applicants. You smile favorably at them, allowing them to enjoy your presence next to them. When you leave, they sadly follow you with their eyes, but it is not so strong because they know that you will see each other again in the evening.

You dress up in beautiful clothes made of expensive fabrics to your taste, smile at the mirror, knowing that the eyes of all those present will be turned to you. After all, you were their Creator, their precious Creator for whose sake they were ready for anything. You enjoy the ball, drink sparkling wine, which, unfortunately or fortunately, did not affect you in any way and dance with some winners. When one of them manages to make you laugh, all those present eagerly absorb this sound, recording it on the subcortex of consciousness in order to reproduce it later.

You return to your chambers and fall on the bed without undressing, you may have been immortal, but emotional fatigue still affected you. You gently kissed the toy, if you had done this while he was a human you are sure that he would have been redder than boiled cancer. The lack of reaction was frustrating, so sooner or later you were going to put them back into human bodies. In the end, it would be a real loss of so many insanely loyal and devoted followers. But for now, they could just be your cute toys.

Night or day they are always watching, greedily absorbing every little thing, every gesture, everything that you want to show them. Your sleepy expression in the morning, the way you stretch before finally getting out of bed, the exposed areas of your skin when you get out of the bathroom. They enjoy all these and are infinitely glad to be here in your chambers so close to you. Getting to know you better and better, remembering all the little habits. They don't want it to end, you won't let them get that close if they become human again, will you? So they'd rather be here with you in that state, just please don't leave them alone don't put them away in dark wardrobes or closets, let them watch. Please.

Wingmen - Platonic!Zhongli & Platonic!Wriothesley & Platonic!Itto x Male!Reader

A/N: Itto and Wriothesley might be a little ooc since it's my first time writing them. Nonetheless, enjoy! CW: Nothing.

To anyone looking from outside, your feeling for Ganyu was painfully obvious. It seemed as each time you two were around the other, if not for a task at hand, you would stand around bashfully, making awkward small talk and fluttering your eyelashes at each other.

However, the secretary’s reactions often seemed like a mixture of embarrassment and uncertainty, almost reluctance to say anything definite, neither encouraging you and voicing hee

You weren't sure how to interpret her behavior. The idea that you were hitting on an uncomfortable Ganyu ate away at you for days before you finally decided to enlist a second opinion. And who better to ask than Zhongli, the Geo Archon himself?

Zhongli: Ah, I am glad to hear you admit your feelings. There is magnetism between you and Ganyu, and it would be a shame to prevent it from flourishing.

He might not have had a female companion since Guizhong, but don't underestimate his supply of knowledge regarding relationships. Morax has known Ganyu for more or less her entire life, so his advice will prove priceless.

The key, Zhongli says, is being gentle and patient. Ganyu is far from an expert in the matters of the heart, so her reactions might be awkward and come off as uneasy rather than simply shy.

Zhongli: Don't worry, friend. If you’d trust my judgment, I’d say that, recently, dear Ganyu has been nothing but excited to see you.

Of course, there is nothing wrong with making some more direct signs of affection. She's a girl with fairly traditional ideas of romance, so kissing her hand, opening doors and other gentlemanly behaviors will surely make her heart flutter. Don't forget the flowers too! Just maybe avoid the edible ones, as Ganyu will likely find absolutely devouring them with joy quite hard to resist, which in turn will give her the typical insecurities she feels after eating out of schedule. That is if she eats by herself.

Zhongli: Ganyu is quite gentle in her disposition. It would be wise to pick an activity that would not overexert her. She is quite overworked and notoriously exhausted, you see.

A typical outing to a restaurant might be too formal and stressful for Ganyu to fully relax, so Zhongli proposes a picnic in a picturesque part of Jeyun Karst. On the schedule? A nice vegetarian meal, a casual board game, a nap in the warm sun and maybe even some hand holding to really make the day memorable.

Don't worry - your wingman will make sure Cloud Retainer has something to do besides embarrassing Ganyu and interrupting your privacy.

As you leave, he can't help but smile softly at the anticipation in your eyes. Young love is beautiful, and Ganyu could certainly use some. When Morax shakes your hand and says his farewells, he can't help but tease you.

Zhongli: Good luck, Y/N. I look forward to meeting your future children.

You looked up to Clorinde from the first day of your work. She was talented, dedicated, competent, focused, beautiful… Soon enough, you started sneaking hints that you wanted to be a little more than just colleagues with her in your daily interactions. You never expected the woman, known for her honesty, to drop hints of her own instead of outright accepting or dismissing your affection. She started spending more time with you, accepting your proposals of outings to restaurants and cinemas… She even seemed to seek you out during lunch to eat it in your company.

Despite all these signs, you were too nervous to make a definitive move and ask her out. Would it be too soon? You've known each other for just a few months, after all. Maybe she likes you as a friend rather than looking at you as a potential future husband?

This doubt was cleared when you found a ball invitation from her in your mail. You were to accompany her to the event, which had you biting on your nails in no time. Knowing you had to make a good impression, you asked your best friend for some help.

Wriothesley: Good pick. I know her a little, so I can say that she’s a woman you can definitely get along with quite smoothly. She’s well spoken, knows a thing or two about the world that surrounds her, and her looks, well, they don’t disappoint. She’s well within your league too. Hm? No, don’t worry - we’re colleagues, nothing more. I do think it’s customary to treat a lady like Clorinde to some tea and chatter when she comes down to a grim place like this, no?

The Duke has rizz, no doubt about that. Just a single glance from him gets the women of Fontaine all hot and bothered, and even Lady Furina couldn’t possibly resist his charm. But, being a man of priority and self-respect, he doesn’t focus his efforts on getting a date. That doesn’t mean, however, that he won’t help a friend in need.

She may not partake in it more than necessary, but Clorinde is high society, just like the event you will accompany her on. Wriothesley will make sure you top up your etiquette. Clorinde surely won't be focusing on your savoir vivre, but it's always helpful to know how to behave. Sigewinne will be a great (albeit short) partner for some dance practice - with what the nature of your work is, you'll surely catch the drift and Ballet, Allemande or even Minuet won't be much of a challenge. Practice makes perfect, after all.

Obviously, the whole point of a ball is to, as they say, dress to impress. The Duke won't mind delegating some of his personal wealth to make sure all eyes are on you. Money doesn't bring happiness, but it can certainly buy some very nice clothes.

Despite all of the top-notch gear you will be sporting, it will all be soulless, making you more of a mannequin than a proper man. The missing element, the final ingredient that will take Clorinde’s breath away is accenting your masculinity. How? Well, Wriothesley has more than a few tricks up his sleeve, don't you worry.

A suit should be tight-fitting - not so much as to be uncomfortable, but just right to accent your hard earned physique. A duelist’s body is nothing to scoff at - all this fighting has more than kept you in shape. There's no need to keep your outfit in perfect condition - some looser buttoning here and there goes along wonderfully with a slightly ruffled hair to give you that scruffy, masculine edge, as well as a bit of personality to your person that will for sure make you unique amongst the other penguins and snobs. Clorinde is not one of them, but her position requires her to attend a formal party once in a while - no doubt standing out a little will catch her fancy.

Lastly, cologne. Many options are available, including recommendations from Wriothesley, but it's ultimately your choice. A base, woody scent will always hit the spot, but maybe you would like something more unique? An oriental variety with cinnamon, or some citrus? If you ask him, Wriothesley would go for something more masculine - the pleasant scent of leather or a powerful mix of tobacco and spices.

Wriothesley: Whatever happens, don't put on a façade. The clothes and the scents are meant to accent you, not create an illusion. If Clorinde gave you hints before, it means that she took a liking to you as a person, so don't be afraid to be yourself, alright? Fantastic. Now get out there and give her an evening she won't soon forget.

The work of a common officer of the Yashiro Commission was quite dull and thankless. Paperwork in the morning, in the afternoon and all through to the evening. Whenever people (or Yokai) were registering events, all the paperwork went through you. It wasn't long after you were employed that you got the chance to meet the One and Oni, Arataki Itto himself as well as someone else. A short woman, whose beautiful features were safely confined under her impressive demon face mask.

To say that you were enamored would be an understatement of massive proportions. What helped was that she seemed to have an intimate knowledge of all the procedures and requirements, making professional interactions with her very smooth, being mostly free of problems. If there were any mistakes on her part, you were more than happy to overlook them for her benefit.

It wasn't hard to find a chance to exchange a few words with her, seeing as Shinobu was a very socially active woman. As time went on, you started seeking her out outside of work hours, accompanying her during the daily chores, slow evenings or even Arataki Gang events.

And Shinobu? She didn't mind at all. Every time she had another portion of formulars, event plans and other bureaucracy to lay on your desk, she apologized profusely for troubling you, and quite bashfully at times too. You always assured her that it was just your job and that working with her was a pleasure, but she always wanted to make it up somehow, usually by bringing you treats like cookies, cake or Dango milk of her own making. One time, however, you worked up the courage to ask her out. When you proposed the idea of grabbing lunch together, she agreed right away.

There was a problem, however. You didn't exactly know what sort of restaurant she would enjoy. A simple food stand would be a safe choice, but would it suit a woman of her intelligence and style? On the other hand, an expensive place would be, well, quite costly, which would hurt your already strained finances - your work doesn't pay very well, after all. And what if she thinks you are some sort of a snob? What about gifts? Is the the type to enjoy flowers, sweets, or something practical? Nothing at all, maybe?

You needed to talk to someone who knew her better than you did. Someone tall, buff and horny. In the literal sense.

Arataki Itto: So you're into Shinobu, huh? Well, I’d say she’s your type of gal - always too serious and no fun, but hella smart… No offense my bro!

Of course, simply answering your questions was not enough for the well-meaning Oni. He insisted on playing matchmaker with you two, and before you could get a word out, it was decided, and Itto began to flood you with wild ideas for a date. Onikabuto fighting, sumo wrestling…

Arataki Itto: … with identical outfits so she knows you like her, right! That would be great, right?

With a little persistence, you managed to gently turn him down and let him know that the date was already planned. He deflated a little bit, but his smile remained as he assured you that he'll help anyway, however he can.

Arataki Itto: Oh! How ‘bout you hit the gym right before the date, huh? I heard that women find the smell of sweat quite sexy! Y/N: Itto, I don't think that's a good idea. It's not going to smell good at all. Besides, when would I find the time to do that? I need to get ready for the date sometime… Arataki Itto: Train in your nice clothes? That'll save you some solid time, eh? Y/N: Well… They won't exactly be fresh and clean after training. Arataki Itto: Ah! You wanna be that suit-and-tie-guy-getting-what-he-wants-takin’-her-by-surprise kinda man? Respect!

In your plan, you didn't take into account just how loud Itto is. Before long, a familiar figure seemingly rose up from underground right beside you.

Arataki Itto & Y/N: Shinobu! Kuki Shinobu: And what kind of mischief are you two up to, huh? Y/N: Nothing, really… Just catching up, right Itto? Arataki Itto: Wait, I thought you wanted to ask Shin- Y/N: Itto! Kuki Shinobu: … Y/N: … Arataki Itto: … Kuki Shinobu: Why didn't you ask me straight up, Y/N? Y/N: I was a little… Shy, to be honest. Diluc:

Most of the time, you only feel the smoothness of his glove wrapped around your hand - which still, is quite rare for him; generally, Diluc doesn't hold hands with you that much. Not that he doesn't like it, but simply, he'd rather save it for special occasions - such as a particularly rougher mission, feeling more emotional than usual, or perhaps there's a big event coming for both of you, like birthday or anniversary. Diluc's hands are rough and veiny - and due to battles, calloused - the aforementioned might be the cause of his unwillingness as well, but you don't mind - it's what makes you want to feel him. It's what makes him... him. However, Diluc always reciprocates whenever you want to hold hands.

When you're both panting heavily, sprawled on the bed and recovering after previous activities, Diluc's bare hand slips slowly to intertwine itself with yours; his grip is tight, thumb gently stroking your soft skin, but he doesn't dare to look - the crimson haired man wants to savor the moment by just feeling you squeeze his hand in response, that causes him to involuntarily smile.

Kaeya:

Another man, another pair of gloves. Kaeya is very fond of hand holding, no matter where - be it public, or private; he loves strolling through the city of Mondstadt and walking hand in hand, showing off his precious significant other. When you're off to festivals, his hand NEVER leaves yours - "I don't want to lose you, silly," he always says. If his eyes catch a special wine or tavern, his hands signals it by playfully squeezing yours.

In private, Kaeya's bony and slender hands always want to be interlocked - as long as one of his hands is free, the hand automatically searches for yours, craving for the warmth no one else is able to replicate. One of his guilty pleasures is gently pressing a kiss to your intertwined hands. Kaeya doesn't seem to realize it, but his eyes often wander to observe your hands - it makes him feel alive, to see you're just as willing to participate. Every day, it makes him happier that he's made the right choice, even if his past will one day remind him of itself.

Zhongli:

Absolutely relishes in holding hands and is not afraid to show it. Always asks whether you want to hold him through the gloves or bare - he really doesn't mind, but secretly prefers (and hopes) you'll want him to take them off. The feeling of both of your hands pressing against each other just so perfectly, especially during colder days, is what makes Zhongli truly experience the passion of life. His hands are permanently on the warmer side as well, no matter what season it might be.

The former archon's hands are, expectedly, thick and way bigger than yours - moreover, they possess great strength, yet... they also look very delicate, because all of his scars heal quite quickly. He often compares the sizes of your hands - almost as if he couldn't believe this is real; every time you catch him doing it, Zhongli just kisses your cheek softly and smiles. Seeing his hand engulf yours entirely makes him want to protect you at all costs, even if it means crossing weapons with entities beyond this world.

Xiao:

Poor thing, he absolutely loves holding hands, but most of the time, he just... restrains himself from doing it. He's so afraid of tainting you with his karma, losing yet another person who he cares about so deeply- he doesn't voice it though, making it seem like he's just not very into it - but it hurts. It hurts to want it so badly, after watching you sleep beside him and your hand laying there before him, begging to be held. He extends his arm, wanting to touch, to feel, to love - but seeing you shift your position makes him flinch and not dare to continue.

Xiao's hands are cold, thin, and... shy. He holds your hand so softly, afraid to break you; after a while, with enough consolidation, he isn't as strict and scared as he used to. His favorite time to hold hands is whenever you don't really see it (much to your dismay) - usually in your sleep, even if you can't hold his hand back. Xiao caresses your hand ever so slightly with his gloved fingers, melting slightly as he feels the overwhelming happiness flowing within him. Rarely, he takes off his gloves, and both of his hands envelope one of yours - letting the bittersweet tears fall free.

Ayato:

Welcome to the gloves club at this point. Ayato holds a bit of restraint when it comes to the public - he doesn't want to appear too obnoxious, as he has a reputation to maintain. This does not mean, however, that he doesn't hold hands with you in public - he does! and hopes that one day, he won't have to worry about people's opinions this much. During Inazuma festivals, he always finds a slightly secluded area, where he can freely snake his hand around yours; seeing you hold back the giddiness, he can't help but give you a loving peck on the temple.

Ayato's slightly scarred hands with long fingers often enjoy the company of yours; in his free time, behind closed doors, when your boyfriend is finally free - he listens to your ramblings while gently holding your hand underneath the kotatsu. He's also very fond of drawing adorable patterns on your palm!

Itto:

"Behold people, the Aratakis have arrived!" Itto raises your interlaced hands in the air.

He yells that by the way, yeah.

Even though more people roll their eyes at him than cheer (and that you aren't married just yet), Itto makes sure every single soul sees you. He boasts about it everywhere, to everyone, at every hour. He's finally learned how to properly hold hands and the ideal amount of strength, so it can't just go to waste, right? The oni loves to swing your hands while walking if the day goes juuust right, but will tone down the extraness if you don't like it. Whenever he falls asleep on your lap, he always wants to hold your hand - he claims that this way, your love transfers to his dreams and wards off nightmares (please go along with it, he really took his time making up the possible best excuse).

Similarly to Zhongli, he also compares his hands to yours - except he just can't c o m p r e h e n d how small and cute they are compared to his massive, veiny ones, with excessive talking. "Babe, sugar, listen. We ARE the perfect match. Do you see this? My handsome hand fits just right against yours. This can't be a coincidence, I'm telling you. No, no, no, but seriously, lil bug, have you ever wondered why your hands are this small? That's right - they've been made just for me, Arataki "numero uno boyfriend" Itto, haha!"

"But for real this time, I've never, ever, EVER, seen such a tiny wittle, hand in my ENTIRE life. It's so, so adorable, like, you might be actually the only one hand I've seen up close, but you know what? Recently I kinda, you know, wanted to see if there's anyone that can match your absolute beauty, so I tried it on Shinobu. And as you might guess, you're still the cutest...! By the way, mind givin' me a massage on the head?"

Alhaitham:

The scribe doesn't really like PDA, therefore hand holding in public happens only if there's a very small group of people he isn't concerned about, or you really, really need it. He's also worried about your safety and the Akademiya, so he doesn't want to endanger you, since he's messed with them, more or less. But deep down, Alhaitham enjoys the warmth of your hand and how it always takes you off guard when he suddenly intertwines your hands together; the rose blush that spreads on your face makes him chuckle and fight the urge to plant a sweet kiss on your lips (which he usually loses and caves in).

Alhaitham's hands are neat, soft, and slightly bony; if you crave his touch so much, the best way to feel his smooth hands is by taking him on a late-night stroll. When there's just the two of you, enjoying the cold breeze and silence on the usually busy streets, the radiating warmth from the scribe's tight grip is more than enough to send another wave of butterflies in your stomach. If you can't go out or simply prefer not to, Alhaitham is at all times willing to read you a book while cuddling and gently squeezing your hands together from time to time.

Cyno:

Good luck, this man has a DEATH GRIP on you for a while. He really thinks it's fine, but sometimes it causes you some funny tingling in your hand... Cyno only realizes the amount of force he's been using after seeing you frown and ordering you to mimic his grip. Long story short, Cyno quickly demanded some "handholding practice", which was.. actually going really well. Except for having to listen to hand jokes he's learned just for you, for this very special occasion.

"Love, what tree can fit in one's hand? A palm tree."

"How many bones do you think a human hand would have?

...a handful."

That was tough, but hey, your bones are finally safe now! Cyno's hands are skinny, but skillful and slightly stiff. When there are no enemies around, the General Mahamatra guides you through the desert hand in hand; even though his grasp is still on the heavier side, this time... it feels comforting. It gives you a confirmation, that he's here to protect you. To Cyno, the world of dating seems a bit strange - but even he can't deny the calmness within his soul while merely feeling your fingers between his.

Hi there! How do you think a team composition of Raiden, Diluc/Yelan (depending on the day), Kaeya and Kazuha would work? Especially in SAGAU terms.

I headcannon that Ei once referred to Kaeya as "son of Khaenri'ah" and Diluc has been defensive ever since.

Forgive me if I get Yelan's characterization wrong - she's one of the few characters I don't have, the most I've seen of her was the story quest, the Chasm event with Itto and Yanfei, and that she apparently stole a coat Pantalone wanted to give to the Tsaritsa, which honestly would immediately put her in Diluc's good books.

That being said - for Diluc and Yelan, I think the switching would work out really well. I mean, they're both busy businesspeople with probably tightly packed schedules, so I reckon your usual antics might even start a close partnership between the two, even if only on a personal level, i.e. each updating the other on what was done during their turn as that day's chosen vessel, or asking the other to potentially cover for them on a day where they just really really couldn't make it. They'd be grateful for the on and off schedule, it gives them time.

Yelan and Kaeya look like they'd be the kind of fast friends that are friendly only on the surface, because they are both distrustful of each other since they're equally sneaky, but I see them growing accustomed to each other as you take them out together. Hydro and Cryo work well naturally, and I can see them having an easier time working in synergy the more they begin to understand one another. It's not openness - neither of them is going to share their innermost workings with someone like that - but it is a form of comraderie that they both end up being thankful for. I'd wager Yelan reminds Kaeya of Rosaria somewhat, and that on downtimes, the two have gone out for drinks and perhaps some gambling.

As for himself and Diluc, Kaeya finds himself even more thankful for the opportunity. The chance for their bond to truly heal from what happened on the day of Crepus's death had not yet surfaced. He knew Diluc still cared - but in a different, silent, far more distant way than before. Kaeya did miss having his brother have his back, and doing the same for him. The first months were difficult - packed with "This meams nothing" and "I am following the Overseer's will, that is all", with Diluc ditching the place as soon as you tabbed out. Kaeya's teasing feels sharp, Diluc is almost cold, and the two can bicker back and forth so often that one would forget they are not the only ones on the team. The teasing never truly goes away. Diluc never truly lowers his guard. But the moment anyone or anything gets in the way of one, the other will lend a hand almost on instinct.

Diluc justifies it as doing it for you. You placed them together, and you rely on both of them, and it is very clear that you like them both enough to place them on your main team. You surely don't want any of them hurt, right? They both use the same argument to justify not sparring - a suggestion brought up by the Shogun, who was genuinely trying to help. Of course it's not because deep down both of them want the best for one another - it is simply because you want the best for both of them. Of course.

But if that were the reason, why would Diluc place himself between his brother and the Archon every time since he heard that one casual remark? He didn't know what bothered him so much about it - it was accurate, wasn't it? Son of Khaenri'ah. There was a time, once, when Diluc would've called it preposterous - Kaeya was a son of Crepus, just like he was. Regardless of his birth parents, he'd been raised a Ragnvindr.

But... was that really true? Had it ever been?

Being placed on the same team as Kaeya, Diluc finds himself grappling with thoughts he had back when everything came to light. For the vast majority of his life, Kaeya had been, indeed, just as much a child of Khaenri'ah as Diluc was a child of Mondstadt. But a man's future is not defined by his past - instead, his present. Kaeya is as much of a sneaky bastard as Diluc is used to him being... but the more the two work together, the more he realises that Kaeya has become more of a Mondstadter than he himself is aware of. He may have been a child of Khaenri'ah once, but the man he's grown into is as much of his brother as he thought him to be as children.

He does not, however, say this out loud. Ever.

The Shogun has since stopped reffering to him as that - it very clearly makes both of them incredibly uncomfortable, and though it is nice to get a break from the bickering, she was not actually looking to offend anybody. So far she's taken to reffering to Kaeya by title instead, adressing him as Captain. She doesn't strike me as the type to jump directly to being on a first name basis with people, and would want to maintain that distance.

Her and Diluc interact very little - she much prefers the Yelan days now, if only due to the fact that she knows there's still some lingering tension from that little incident. I could see the two getting along somewhat well before, but the relationship definitely soured in that awkward quiet way that never leads to an actual confrontation. But then again, I can see this being a very, VERY tense team. Like seriously the only person here that has no beef at all is Yelan.

Because while the brothers' antics take the main stage - their bickering is dramatic and explosive and their jabs at each other end up taking the attention from othet issues, which is quite thr relief - there is also the strained feelings between Kazuha and the Shogun.

Oh yes.

You and the Traveler may have gotten through to the Archon, shown her the power of people's hopes and dreams, and helped repel the Vision Hunt Decree. Inazuma may now be open again, and the Nation of Electro may be slowly rebuilding itself and its foreign relations after the civil war. The Shogun had her redemption arc, and joined you as a Vessel, and so far she has been nothing but helpful and reliable on the field of combat.

But Kazuha's friend is not any less dead.

Kazuha himself says that he's thought about it, and that he holds no resentment towards the Shogun. His friend died in an honorable duel, and that's that. But not resenting someone doesn't automatically mean a close or good relationship, nor does it mean that what was done has been forgotten. Kazuha supposes he'll trust your judgement, and that the Shogun is there to help - but there's still that lingering fear, that cold sweat when he wakes up and that shiver running down his back, because the aftermath of a war is never easy, and though she's on their side now, what if one day she isn't. Were it not for the brothers' antics - and possibly Kaeya, let us be honest here, he's the one who talks - the team would be... very, very silent.

From either angle, your team is PACKED with tension, but hopefully they'll be able to slowly grow to rely on each other, and maybe mend what was broken along the way.

With a bit of luck they go out for drinks and dango. I think they deserve it.

Your Itto posting (and all your posting tbh) is so so good, I'd just like to say that my friends and I think that Itto would think Scara's hat (upside down) would make an excellent beetle training arena and Scara would be so fucked off to get it back full of dirt and leaves from the beetles, but he DID get the weirdest gender euphoria when Itto said "haha sorry bro" so it's kind of a win?

real talk, itto could've fixed scara even before sumeru archon quest. like if they met when scara was meandering in inazuma after getting gnosis, the mecha boss battle would not have happened

like scara was polite with old ladies even in his villain era, right? i think it was in his artifact lore. so like he meets itto's granny, thru her itto, itto gets him to battle beetles which he agrees bc polite to old lady.

and then he wins, bc itto like loses even to kids and treats it as major event every time, and scara gets dopamine high from VICTORY. and itto canonically never gives up and will play non stop losing every time and emotes like its a huge deal. scara wins like 600 times in a row, laughing maniacally every time, and gets the anime boss battle for the ego boost out of his system

and like yeah for gender euphoria, not only he gets bro-ed, dude-ed, my man-ed non stop from the most masc guy in inazuma, but also like when some random human notices he's a puppet and acts weirded out, itto's like hey fuck off, that big hat purple idiot might be annoying, but he's one of MY BOYS

also, one evening scara and kuki get drunk and she talks about like FUCK them parents and their expectations and society and ppl who betrayed you, you don't have to prove them anything, okay, its your life, go and live it like you want with people who will love you with no conditions. he gets an embarrassing drunk tattoo that night too

Actually, I'm going to make this it's own post.

If anyone who has said that they're boycotting stops just because they like Natlan's archon quest, or Capitano becomes playable, or they like a 5 star that gets released, or a 5 star gets a skin you like, or any other reason, I'm going to be so fucking mad. If you still give them money, especially if you claimed that you wouldn't, you are won over too easily and have no critical thinking skills.

And it's especially bullshit if your excuse is "the boycott isn't working, oh well!" Hoyoverse ignoring the boycott is exactly the reason why you shouldn't give them money!

The reason why I keep saying "don't give them money" instead of "boycott them/sign the petition/etc." is because I'm not just talking about convincing them to change a few skin colours in one game. I'm talking about everything that they've done across all of their games that is shamelessly bigoted, and combining them all into a huge folder of reasons why they don't deserve money.

I'm talking about the racism in Natlan and Sumeru, yes, but I'm also talking about Paimon and Traveler being unnecessarily shitty towards Kaeya and Venti, one of whom was the only brown skinned character in the game at the time of that shitty behavior. I'm talking about hilichurls. I'm talking about none of the Chinese or Japanese characters having brown skin either, except for one 4 star in Liyue with a bad kit and a personality centered around a type of music often stereotyped as being 'violent'.

I'm talking about Boothill and Azta, the whitewashed Indigenous American characters from Honkai Star Rai and Houkai Gakuden 2 respectively. I'm talking about Aventurine, the whitewashed Romani character whose backstory includes being a slave and being terrorized by a greedy, violent tribe. I'm talking about Aven's home planet being named a slur against Romani people. I'm talking about Sparkle and Ratio, a pale skinned Japanese and white Greek character who calls him slurs against Romani people on screen. I'm talking about the hsr place based on the Jazz Age in the US not having any playable black characters.

I'm talking about Carole, the only brown skinned playable character in hi3, canonically hating her skin colour. I'm talking about Arlan, the only brown skinned playable character in hsr, acting subservient to a pale skinned character and spending the whole tutorial telling pale skinned characters that they're better than him. I'm talking about the only notable African place in hi3 being a destroyed city a white male antagonist took over. I'm talking about Nanook, the closest we have to a main antagonist in hsr, being the only brown skinned aeon.

But it's not just the racism. I'm also talking about the sexism. I'm talking about the horrifically oversexualized designs that almost every single female character in every one of their games have. I'm talking about Ayaka suddenly not being allowed to have anything to do with politics the moment her older brother was revealed, turning her into a cutie standing around doing nothing in events. I'm talking about the four seperate cases of 5 star male-4 star female duo's where the boy overshadows the girl (Albedo and Sucrose, Itto and Shinobu, Tighnari and Collei, and Lyney and Lynette). I'm talking about the only women in a 'masculine' outfit in Genshin, Arlecchino, still wearing an uncomfortably form fitting, backless vest. I'm talking about the female archons having a focus on having them look cute, with two acting like literal children. I'm talking about Dehya actively defending her male friends who were sexually harassing her into using her body to attract new recruits and bragging about sexyally harassing all other women out of the group.

I'm also talking about the pedophilia. I'm talking about all of the tiny children in Genshin and hsr except for Sigewinne still having sexualized outfits. I'm talking about multiple children in Genshin having the exact same puffy white shorts that look suspiciously similar to underwear. I'm talking about half of them actually being adults.

I'm also talking about the classism, copaganda, and other societal things. I'm talking about Fontaine's... everything. I'm talking about Chevreuse the c*p who has at least 2 high class vision weilders who aren't part of the government to help with her investigations in exchange for letting them get away with illegal stuff, or at least in Chori's case idk I didn't do Emilie's sq. I'm talking about the prison that Paimon claims is amazing but does prison labor, has a questline about saving an innocent child from it, kept another child who defended other kids by killing their traffickers in it, and forces prisoners to work if they want more than ONE meal per day. I'm talking about Furina seemingly making up laws on the spot and getting away with it. I'm talking about the current leader of Fontaine being the guy who didn't wait for the investigation of the crime scene to finish before starting the trial in act 1, then wrongfully imprisoned Childe in act 2 on purpose because a mysterious machine said so.

I'm talking about the leader of Sumeru telling a guy who told her that his life sucks because of the capitalism in her nation to make his tools pretty instead of dealing with the actual problem. I'm talking about the leader of Inazuma being an ex-antagonist who let her puppet self and the rest of her government kill god knows how many, and the mc's being fine with that. I'm talking about the previous leader of Liyue purposefully putting all of his people in danger to prove to himself that he can retire, and the mc's being fine with that. I'm talking about the depiction of Shenhe supposedly living a better life in CR's story quest being that she got a job, instead of her improving on her actual problems.

I'm also talking about the ableism. I'm talking about Chongyun's disability not being acknowledged as a disability because everyone insists that he just needs to let himself overheat bc they like seeing him like that, and Xingqiu 'pranking' him using his disability. I'm talking about Collei and everyone else with elezar getting Magical Disability Cure-d, and elezar almost never being brought up again. I'm talking about hi3 Wendy, a wheelchair user, being an npc who was killed off the chapter after she was introduced, while her fully abled Genshin expy is a popular 5 star.

I'm also taking about the fatphobia. I'm talking about Ganyu being used as a fat joke multiple times, including the only mention of her time in the Archon War being her accidentally choking someone to death with her butt. I'm talking about multiple female characters, especially in Genshin, worrying about gaining weight. I'm talking about Venti insulting someone for being fat in the comics. I'm talking about every playable character in all of their games being so skinny that Genshin and hi3 are even allergic to the weird bodybuilder version of muscles that have no fat on them. By which I mean, they don't have any playable fat characters.

throughout the journey aether's been on in teyvat, all he does is help nations, people, archons, you name it. but i want to be his escape, someone he can hold and be comfortable with. for a moment, i want him to worry less about what's going on outside, and just close his eyes. he's so selfless, and i believe he deserves the same treatment in return.

cyno isn’t as much of a tsundere as the fandom writes him out to be, so this doesn’t sound fitting. but i feel like his role as the general mahamatra would definitely play a bad part in your relationship. he’d be too busy to take you on a date, or too tired to accompany you to an event. it’s not until you’ve left, that he’s realized he’s neglected you for too long.

with diluc, i imagine wanting to take his burdens off his shoulders, and comfort him, reassure him. i want him to rely on me, and be comfortable enough to come to me to talk. it makes me sad, how isolated he is, or rather, how he felt the need to isolate himself.

not only does the melody suit kazuha, but so do the lyrics. there's not a lot that kazuha holds dear, simply because he wanders a lot. he moves from place to place, and you're one of the only stable aspects of his life. he will always return home, to see you.

KAEYA- midnight rain by taylor swift

i feel like kaeya would suit taylor’s perspective in the song. you wanting to settle down, but kaeya can’t love you for too long, because he's holding a major secret that is threatening yours and potentially teyvat's safety. you’re the sunshine, and he’s the midnight rain. he’ll have to leave you soon, but for now, he’ll let you hold him.

KAMISATO AYATO- still with you by jungkook

ayato is not only head of the kamisato clan, but he’s a commissioner too. he’s used to running things mostly by himself, because he had to take care of his little sister alone, and rebuild the kamisato clan from the floor. he’s often isolated, completing work, but at the end of each day, i want to remind him, that we are in fact together, and any challenges he faces, are mine to struggle with too.

i know we kind of ignore how unhinged childe is, but i want to acknowledge it. he doesn’t know how to love or be loved, which leads to him not knowing how to comfort you. he’s going to hurt you, mentally/verbally, often. he’s going to tell you to stop crying, instead of holding you, or call you dramatic, instead of snuggling you in bed and encouraging you.

thoma is often busy, since he works for a commissioner, and one of the most well known and respected clans in inazuma. he sees you a lot, whether it's running errands, or accompanying one of the kamisatos somewhere. he's in love with you, and he'd do anything for you. but for now, he needs to focus on his duties.

even though he's a busy man, tighnari still makes plenty of time for you. he's sweet and smooth with his swords, easily swaying you. he makes it known, to not just you, that he loves you to the ends of the world. he knows how to make you swoon, from taking days off to pick flowers for you, to having deep talks with you in the shower. he's always thinking about you, even picturing your smile while he's off gathering gifts for you.

xiao is one of the most obvious characters with a traumatic backstory, and i believe i want to be there for him the most. it's not going to be easy, since he's lived 1000+ years. he's used to being on his own, and all he knows is how to protect, and kill. but for once, i want him to rely on me, and for him to breathe a sigh of relief.

ZHONGLI- wildest dreams by taylor swift

as an archon, zhongli has been alive for over 6000 years. even though he's given up the title, and is now living a normal life, he will always remain an immortal. eventually, you will pass on, and zhongli will be alone again. regardless, he's going to spend every waking moment with you, until your very last breath. he will cherish your love for the rest of eternity, even if you're not physically there.

Overanalyzing Cyno and Alhaitham's current relationship

These characters are the first to have a significant on-screen development in genshin, from enemies to circumstantial allies to..?

It seems they didn't get any specific resolution post archon quest, so I decided to take a steady look into the breadcrumbs left behind.

When they clash at Aaru Village, they both have reasons to suspect each other of compliance with the Akademiya sages, and Cyno vows to "eliminate" him if he finds Alhaitham guilty to any degree. However, after the events of King Deshret And The Three Magi (act IV of the Sumeru archon quest), Cyno's about Alhaitham voiceline is immediately unlocked:

Although a bit reluctant, Cyno acknowledges Alhaitham's motivations to be harmless and doesn't consider his behavior threatening, he knows he's different from regular scholars so his position of relative power as the scribe isn't something Cyno has to watch over, and he even implies Alhaitham can be of help in keeping order. At this point, he has dropped all the initial animosity he once felt, and the voiceline is unlocked early to let the player know Alhaitham is a genuine ally.

In summary, Cyno trusts Alhaitham, even with his shady antics.

Fast forward to the Toast to Victory in the last act of the chapter, they share a short conversation with a bit of playful banter:

Cyno: Why didn't you accept the Akademiya's invitation to become the Grand Sage? Alhaitham: Are you trying to say that I'm fit to be a sage? Cyno: Heh, not at all.

So they are on good terms, though they retain some of the rivalry in dialogue just annoy each other a little bit.

After the Sumeru archon quest is over, Alhaitham's voicelines about other characters involved in it are unlocked (Nahida, Nilou, Dehya), but not Cyno's. At this point, Alhaitham has nothing to share about him.

We learned what Cyno's opinion about him was an entire act ago, but there's no reason why Alhaitham should be aware of it. As far as Alhaitham is concerned, just because he's on friendly terms with the General Mahamatra doesn't mean he'll stop acting behind the Akademiya's back in his shady yet harmless way, which isn't ideal from the perspective of the matra. Even Kaveh is surprised that a matra can hang out so comfortably with scholars, but him and Tighnari don't behave questionably like Alhaitham. And Cyno is also keeping a distance and avoiding asking questions that he's not willing to answer anyway:

Alhaitham, who had no interest in boasting about how he remained unscathed, answered Nilou's question with another: "As far as I know, Cyno and Dehya are also curious about this, yet you are the only one who has raised this question. Were they just too shy to ask me themselves?"

Alongside this character story, after completing his character quest The Illusions of the Mob, his about Cyno voiceline is also unlocked:

This voiceline is rather unfortunate in that it.. doesn't really say anything. There's no additional context or tidbits about the Hivemind case, we already knew it wasn't his fault and that the matra intervened at the end just by playing the quest. It doesn't say anything about his relationship with Cyno either, nor about Cyno or Alhaitham themselves as characters.

Usually, those are the purposes of the "about character" voicelines: provide additional or missing context from a quest, insight about the character mentioned from the perspective of the speaker, or about the character itself in contraposition to the mentioned character. For example, Raiden's "Who?" about Itto serves as comic relief that shows he doesn't have a presence in the nation despite what he himself believes, since the Shogun puppet doesn't even know him; or Childe's (now erased) about Scaramouche, where he doesn't share any personal opinion about him (despite doing so for all other Harbingers), but explains he ran away with the gnosis, which is information that was originally revealed during a time limited event (Labyrinth Warriors) and players who didn't participate in it wouldn't know otherwise.

So voicelines about a character usually have a purpose, and if there's nothing of note to add, then a voiceline isn't mandatory. For insantance, Cyno doesn't have an about Dehya (we've been robbed). Therefore, if Alhaitham didn't have anything relevant to say about Cyno, it wasn't necessary to have a voiceline about him. And if it is only meant to be random dialogue without value, just to establish the two as acquaintances (even though the player should already be aware by virtue of them spending half the archon quest together), then why go through the trouble of locking it behind Alhaitham's character quest?

The only new information in this voiceline is that Cyno didn't bring up the case in the aftermath, so this is what I'm focusing on.

Alhaitham seems surprised that Cyno hasn't even complained about the workload, and he rationalizes that it must be obvious he's not to blame for the case. Cyno is an intelligent man, after all, he must realize that.

In retrospect, it's funny that Alhaitham is concerned about that. As the Acting Grand Sage, he made sure to consolidate the authority of the Matra as an independent entity from the Akademiya, and even chastises the matra working on the case for caring about his opinion when they should be telling him to stay out of the way (like Cyno would). Not only that, but he also made sure to leave a letter for Cyno detailing everything he knew and predicted about the case, he did need the matra to show up at the end to perform the arrests, but he could have just left a note asking for the collaboration of the matra left in charge, no details required, yet he chose to let Cyno know everything that was going to happen. And then not only that, but he also left a breadcrumb for Cyno to follow (knowing he'd figure out what the mark was for) throughout the quest.

This is a man that, despite being used to acting shady, does not want Cyno to suspect him. And Cyno doesn't, he follows the unwritten instructions in the letter without question and doesn't ever confront or ask Alhaitham for explanations afterwards.

After all, Cyno has already revealed he trusts Alhaitham's judgement and actions all the way back in act IV. It's just Alhaitham didn't know that yet, he went through the trouble of making his intentions transparent to him from the start, and then still wonders why Cyno didn't approach him to homoerotically fight him at any point or just question his involvement in the aftermath.

Cyno doesn't seem willing to put himself in a position where Alhaitham has the upperhand, so he might have never told him how he felt. In Alhaitham's teaser video, he acts very defensive when Kaveh suggests Alhaitham is stronger than him, there's a certain pride that comes into play when Alhaitham is involved, yet seeing how he stops playing TCG just to talk about his hidden strength, he also seems very intrigued by him. We see him later say his iconic "you keep your cards close to your chest" line, which Alhaitham quickly shuts down with a nonchalant "not at all". Seems a bit hard to open up to him with honesty about this trust Cyno has placed in him if he's being annoying like that lol.

It's either Alhaitham has yet to connect the dots, or his quest and voiceline about Cyno are where he figures out that Cyno holds him in high regard and trusts him.

But either way, they seem to be getting along beneath the surface.
