#Izuku with a different quirk

Note
Anymore ‘Izuku with a different quirk’ scenarios?
Hmmmm…. yep.
For this one, he had a quirk that’s a mutation of his parents and is similar to one of his great-great grandparents. Like Mt. Lady, his quirk is gigantification, only he can grow to any size he wants rather than only one
Course, the drawback is a speedy metabolism, so he and Momo casually talk in between stuffing their faces
Also, BakuDeku because soft&feral!Katsuki getting carried by his giant boyfriend
Mt. Lady’s sort of been an inspiration for him since her debut when he was in junior high. She actually scared off a couple of his bullies once. And he inspired her to be a better hero and not for publicity and fame
Even with his quirk, he was still tormented because I refuse to give him a break, but Katsuki kept the assholes at bay and eventually became his boyfriend
While Izuku tolerated the bullying, he went ballistic if anyone talked badly about Katsuki. He may or may not have ripped a row of lockers off the wall and threw it at someone
Katsuki: *Blushing* Damn, I love that nerd.
The students of Class 1A never would have guessed that Katsuki was dating Izuku. It took most of them a few weeks to even figure it out. Momo, Kyoka, Fumikage, Mina, Mashiraou, Shouji, Tsuyu, and Shouto could quickly tell during the first week
His hero name is Atlas
*Choosing Hero Names*
Mashirao: Wasn’t Atlas a villain?
Izuku: People only think that because he was punished by Zeus, who is the worst person ever in Greek mythology. So, that ‘punishment’ was probably just Zeus being a jerk as usual.
Mashirao: … *Nods* Checks out.
Oh, and Neito’s got a thing for tall guys, so when Katsuki’s not around, that’s when he goes to make his move on Izuku, who assumes Neito is just being nice
His Yuuei uniform, gym uniform, and hero uniform are all made from his DNA so that they all grow with him
Whenever he sees Mineta leering at any female students, Izuku grows to his giant size and flicks him into one of the walls. No one bats an eye and Aizawa pretends he didn’t see anything
Mineta: Aizawa Sensei! Midoriya flicked me again!
Aizawa: *Sipping his coffee* Did someone hear something?
Mt. Lady immediately likes him when she sees him at the Sports Festival
When he’s up against Hitoshi, he just picks him up by the back of his gym uniform and moves him out of bounds, but he didn’t stand a chance against Shouto, who just trapped him in a giant ice block
Katsuki is prone to jealousy in case you can’t tell. When it’s not Neito, it’s his classmates ogling Izuku while he’s bench pressing a sixteen wheeler in Gym Gamma
Izuku: C’mere. *Picks Katsuki up* You know no one’s taking me away from you, right?
Katsuki: … Yeah. Just kiss me, nerd.
Bakusquad: Aaaww!
Katsuki: EVER HEARD OF PRIVACY?!

Honestly despite my feelings about how the last arc of MHA went down I really love Deku and his story.
I just feel like a lot of the time we get these protagonists whose whole philosophy is it doesn’t matter what you were born as everyone can achieve greatness. But then the series goes on and it turns out that actually it DOES matter because the protagonist has this really great lineage and these really great powers you can only have through birth they were actually born born, predestined if you will, to do this.
But MHA actually sticks to its guns. Midoriya wasn’t revealed to have some great connection to all might that the universe had put in place. He wasn’t defended from some great lineage that makes him uniquely suited to this. Hell All for one didn’t even turn out to be his father, there was no hidden powerful quirk he was always meant to have. He was just Midoriya Izuku a boy who was in the right place at the right time and simply decided to act while the world did nothing. And that’s what really made him a hero.
I don’t know, maybe it’s just me, but I believe him a bit more when he goes anybody can be a hero if you just decide to act
#also never stop crying baby I love taht about you#like I do understand that being given one for all an extremely powerful quirk is kind of a cop out#but still the quirk was passed down to him because of his own merits not becayse it was pre destined or because he was born to weird it#and honestly that’s more than we’ve got in a long time.#yes this is a little bit of a naruto call out cause I will never get over that complete 180 😭#and it does randomly drop that little tidbit of how it was good luck Midoriya was quirkless or the quirk would have killed him young#but honestly I don’t even know what to make of that besides……yay?#also yeah that’s pretty realistic sometimes disabilities make your more suited for somethings so yeah#this isn’t me implying that other protagonists didn’t work hard by the way I know they did two things can be true at once#bakugo proves that. like he is was born with an extremely powerful quirk but nobody can say he doesn’t work hard#it’s just a little tiring to see this underdog character suddenly get a backstory that’s like sike you actually needed to be born to do thi#one piece does this a little bit to be fair to them the story doesn’t really emphasize anyone can do it that way it has different themes#about what family means and it’s all about inherited will so I can give it a pass#but yeah I really appreciate mha for sticking to that gun even though it dropped the ball on a lot of things#like never fully addressing the quirkless people can be heroes too thing but that’s a topic for next time#throwing thoughts to the void#deku#mha#my hero academia#mha meta#mha analysis#midoriya izuku#izuku midoriya#one for all#mha deku#bhna#boku no hero acedamia

Credit where credit is due, this was actually a good moment of character development for Bakugou. While he still valued everything by strength, his view of what could be strength became broader. And he was willing to encourage someone else (Kirishima) when there was no benefit for him to do so.
To be clear, Bakugou wouldn't have said this before Kamino. Bakugou's views on strength started to evolve only because he witnessed All Might's last stand. Up until that point, he only viewed All Might and heroics in general through the lens of a perfect, all powerful figure who always wins. But by the Overhaul Arc, he believed strength also meant being able to win even through adversity.

A little wish I have for mha, that is absolutely not important, is that we would see just a snippet of Katsuki's nameless goons reacting to
1. Izuku having powers and fighting the BBEG on live tv
2. Katsuki leveling up and fighting the other BBEG (and completely wrecking a hundred years old villain)
3. Katsuki declaring that he is "the one who steps in for Izuku," calling himself Kacchan, etc
4. Katsuki and Izuku fighting together(this includes Izuku throwing Katsuki at AFO as well as any teaming up we are going to get in upcoming chapters)
And 5. Battle-weary Katsuki and Izuku embracing(optionally, kissing) at the end of the war, confessing feelings, and taking/holding hands.
All of this is on live TV and it's actually pretty curious that we haven't spotted them in one of those little panels that show civilians watching the broadcast! I wonder if Hori forgot about them lol.

There's always gonna be like one or two characters that I'm a fan of, but dislike some of their fans and out of all characters in BNHA... I never would have thought it would be Spinner.

Au where quirks exist ever since the beginning of humanity but thought the last 200 years they started becoming rarer for no explainable reason
"for no explainable reason"? Not "because someone born two hundred years ago started eating them all"? Well, both can be true I suppose
1- humans have always had quirks so just go ahead and disabuse yourself of the idea that world history looks anything like ours now. Any boundaries humans have drawn between themselves or their spaces are totally different. Anyway, our story is set on the island nation of Akitsuba, which has begun to receive reports of children who are born without quirks- it seems impossible, but apparently the child born in Canton Province to two glowing parents but had no light himself was not the result of an affair. He is genetically both his parents child - just, without any unique plus alpha factor at all.
2- when the news breaks, Setsuji looks over at his twin brother. The two stay in a group home, and on the record, they have a spike quirk, just like their mother did before she died at their birth. In truth, Setsuji can take others quirks. He assumes he took his brother's in infancy, which why the boy can't use them, but now he wonders if his brother was in fact simply born without. He doesn't say anything, but his brother does- whispering it at night, apologizing for assuming his brother took it all this years ago and refused to even try to return it, but there's simply nothing to return, is there?
3- more people are born quirkless over time, and more people lose their quirk to AfO over time. Ujiko theorizes that quirks would get too strong, so both quirklessness and AfO are evolutions to prevent plus alpha self destruction. That is, sadly, a generous view- quirklessness is largely viewed as a horrible strange disability, and suddenly quirks become more important. Few people before had jobs that specifically used their quirks, but now no one wants to be mistaken for not having one. Many people campaign to treat and 'fix' quirklessness, trying to force activate one, study and prevent it, etc. Just go ahead and assume all the terrible things that can happen with this mindset, it all happened.
4- by the time of canon, however, quirklessness has been around for two hundred years, and it isn't going away- clearly the opposite. about half the population of the world has no quirk, and the number's hanging around 45% in Akitsuba when our main character, Akatani Mikumo is born. He's quirkless, and lives in the capitol of Higakyou, as schools there are required by law now to no longer require certain or any quirks. It's an election year, so his first semester of high school all anyone can do is talk about the candidates- especially Yagi Toshinori, a bit of a symbol for quirkless politicians and one people thought would run years ago. Mikumo, who helped Yagi carry groceries home one day and didn't recognize him outside of the bright suit, camera lights, and makeup, makes friends with a few kids at school. (Ochako, and the twins Tokoyami Fumikage and Kuroei- while the latter has a quirk, the former does not).
5- Then one day, Yagi is kidnapped, vanishing on live tv through a smokey warp. Mikumo doesn't know what to think about that, until he runs into the man on his way home from school- clearly in bad shape, with strange dark eyes that glow with some quirk he shouldn't have. Mikumo helps Yagi hide, and asks what happens, and how he can help. (AfO decided to end Yagi's use as a symbol by forcing a quirk on him and controlling him, but one of his brother's successors managed to break Yagi out first and give him his brother's quirk, allowing him to fight against AfO's quirk and withstand them safely. As for what Mikumo can do to help... he's done far more than he should already, a kind boy, but that answer isn't going to be good enough for him- he's determined to do more anyway.)

Rewriting MHA I’d make almost everyone from some sort of ‘hero’ family (sans Jirou, possibly Kaminari, Ochako, Izuku, maybe Bakugo?, Sero, and Shinsou), bc like. Where is the nepotism. You go to top schools everyone’s parents are doctor lawyer CEO businessman finance bro CEO businessman IT professional finance bro investment banker CEO. UA is a top hero school almost everyone there should be from a hero family - plus it makes the reason why Aoyama’s parents were basically willing to sell their son’s life away for him to not be Quirkless even clearer, imagine being from a hero family and being Quirkless?
Like I’m keeping some people who aren’t (ex: Bakugo and Sero are from rich familes but not hero families, Izuku duh, Ochako and Jirou actually have pretty cool families as is and Ochako has a good backstory, Shinsou’s whole point is he’s supposed to be someone people would expect to be a villain as a hero, and Kaminari is just for spice), but for the most part? You get nepotism you get nepotism you get nepotism EVERYONE GETS NEPOTISM BAYBEE.

Old draft i found and wanted to post!!!
monodeku AU fic idea thing where people can fuse (like steven universe gem fusing minus the gems) but ONLY if they have a strong emotional bond.
its their second year of highschool, and the two are friends (monoma swears they arnt). they bonded over their shared appreciation for quirks and such.
At some point they are on patrol and izuku's danger sense goes off for some reason (maybe something falling, maybe a villan idk, haven't thought of the details) so he grabs monoma in a panic to help him avoid the danger.
but instead of moving him they accidentally fuse.
after the initial panic of "oh god what why did we fuse" (mostly from monoma) they have to head back to campus. but the issue is, they don't know how to unfuse.
another thing, i came up with their fusion quirk!!
Its called "copy and paste". basically, it works like copy but the user can give the copies to other people as well as using the copies themselves. the time limit still applies for the copy and the paste.

I’ve seen this au where Izuku has Blue Diamond’s crying powers, but I kinda want more context like his relationships with Class 1A and how he joins the hero course with that quirk. Mind making a scenario for that?
While getting teased for not having his quirk yet, something strange happened when Izuku got pushed into the sand and started to cry big, heavy tears
A blue aura spread from him, and whoever it touched, would involuntarily start to cry and feel the sadness he was feeling
The quirk is called Tearful Projection. When Izuku cries in a state of sadness, a blue aura radiates from him and sort of weaponizes his sadness, making everyone around him cry over what he’s crying about
His memories sort of play into his quirk. Whenever he’s recalling a sad memory (Like that scene from Up) and cries over it, people caught in his aura see glimpses of that memory in their heads and begin crying over it as well
Those who have undergone extreme emotional trauma seem resistant to the aura's effect, barely shedding a tear upon being affected
Tumblr media
His classmates and teachers from Aldera are still assholes, usually messing with him for his “weak quirk”, spitting on his heroics dream, and using their own quirks on him as they believe he’s no threat, but then they leave him alone for like two weeks after he releases his aura around the classroom and they see how much he’s hurting
Tumblr media
Katsuki refuses to let Izuku’s power get to him and admit he feels bad for bullying him for thinking he can make it into the hero course with his quirk… He doesn’t feel bad! Not at all!
Also, the Midoriya Tears™️ have gotten an augmentation due to Izuku’s quirk. They’re now much heavier, can break through stone, and they don’t taste salty
Tumblr media
Inko and Hisashi have had to buy waterproof items due to them constantly crying. Also, they REALLY need to get Izuku a therapist or something, because he’s not just crying over sad short films anymore
When he comes across the Sludge Villain, all he has to do is think about Bambi’s mom dying, and the sludge villain becomes a puddle
As Izuku trains for the Entrance Exam, he discovers a new aspect of his quirk after All Might commends him for stopping the Sludge Villain, Joyful Projection
Turns out, his seldom seen tears of joy also have an affect on others. His aura is much lighter, and whatever he’s joyfully crying over (Current or a memory), others start feeling that same joy
And, thanks to his dad’s fire breathing quirk, he discovers he can evaporate his tears into soft blue clouds that he can ride on. When someone touches a cloud, they feel instant joy or sadness, depending on why he was crying
Tumblr media
And lastly, he’s learning to control the radius of his aura, how to funnel it into his hands so he can shoot it at people, and how to not release it at all when he’s crying
However, there are times when Izuku is releasing his aura even when he’s not crying, and it flickers on and off. This means he’s holding in his sadness… Which isn’t healthy
Cue Izuku shorting out the robots with his tears and giving poor Eraserhead and Present Mic heart attacks when he rides on a cloud
When he gets his acceptance letter, the entire apartment complex starts celebrating
Eraserhead and Present Mic totally don’t think he’s the reincarnation of their dearly departed friend
During the Quirk Assessment, this can goes one of two ways
Izuku either makes his entire class cry over a pre quirk short film he saw about an orphaned girl trying to sell stick people she made and tells them he can make it stop if one of them uses their quirk to throw the ball far
Or… He uses his clouds
Anyway, ‘Twas all a ruse! No one gets expelled and a good half of them are traumatized by how many sad short films there are
Now, for hero uniforms. His is a masculine version of Blue Diamond’s outfit. It comes with a hood that creates a shadow over his face, so people can only see glowing blue eyes
Class 1A is seriously worried about this guy. His aura keeps going on and off, and they’re like, “Fuck, I wanna burn that school.”
Also, Mina convinced them to watch Steven Universe one day, and they all do double takes when they see Blue Diamond onscreen
Izuku: No, I don’t have a diamond on my chest.
Shouto: … I’m gonna need physical evidence. Please remove your shirt so that I can confirm you’re Blue Diamond’s half-gem child.

Can't See Shit by alice_tryingtowrite
On Tuesday, Bakugou Katsuki’s world was normal. Tsukasa’s hair was blue, Tatsuya’s skin was green, and Kagami had ridiculously long limbs for a four-year-old. These were all changes that had happened that year due to their quirks.
On Wednesday, Tsukasa’s hair was back to black, Tatsuya’s skin was a warm beige tone, and Kagami was back to being a normal height for a child his age. It was his quirk, he realised. It prevented him from seeing, hearing, touching or even experiencing quirks.
But what about his dream of being a hero...?
Or,
Katsuki gets a different quirk. He and Izuku stay friends, becoming best friends instead.

The man waiting doesn't look like a doctor at all.
Tumblr media
"Miss Jinno, right?" There's a smile on his face as he waves his prospective customer trial participant to join him. Quite an informal way to welcome her and start a meeting, the place as well—a glass-walled conference room instead of a doctor's office, but maybe that's just how things are done in this company.
"I'm Midoriya. I'm responsible for screenings and the technical side of things," he explains, as if sensing explanations are due, "Once we're done with that and all's looking good, I'll show you to the doctors' offices. Is that all right?"

Summary: Just a single moment, a single split second, and everything falls apart for no reason. Within the sound of a snap, the car crashes, lightning strikes, tragedy strikes, and people can’t even realize what’s happened until after the fleeting moment has passed. It was ephemeral, but at the same time, it was lasting, eternal, because the echoes of its consequences would continue to haunt them long after the lightning and its storm had passed. Long after the wreck of the car has been cleaned off the street.
When his quirk first appeared, Midoriya Izuku had learned that all men were not created equal. Some were born into this world lucky and others were born into it unlucky. He also learned that he was one of those born unlucky. It would be hard not to be, considering his quirk was a Jinx.
When the weight of his misfortune became too heavy to carry, Izuku was pushed over the edge. Only for another boy with a different "villain quirk" to pull him back over. Together, the both of them move forward trying to prove to the society that not everything painted in a dark light is bad.
The real question is whether or not Izuku can prove that to himself first.

Review:
I LOVE stories where Midoriya is born with a quirk! This is one of the most creative ones I've read yet.
There are plenty of fics that give Deku some form of telekinesis, fire, or a mixture of both. There are just as many that have him gaining a 'cannot-die' or 'reset' quirk. 'All for One' is a poplar quirk for him to get, as well (usually in stories where the villain 'All for One' is his father, of course, but this is a popular trope).
'This' is the only fic I've read, though, where Deku (or anyone, for that matter) has a 'bad-luck' quirk. This led to some interesting quirk use and added damage to his psyche. Instead of being bullied for being quirkless, he's bullied for a villain quirk. It makes perfect sense that a  quirk that causes bad-luck would fall under that classification in this world. It would suck to be known to everybody as the personification of misfortune - on top of having to deal with the misfortune that said quirk caused.
The closest relationship in this story appears to be ShinsouXMidoriya. I'm not a big Shinsou fan, but he does seem to be very popular in fandom culture. It also makes perfect sense to set Midoriya up with Shinsou in a story where he's had to live with a so-called 'villain' quick yet still intends to become a hero. This gives them something to bond over - having such a similar backstory.
Trigger Warning for attempted suicide. Yep. It's also one of 'those' stories. One of those where Midoriya takes Bakugou's advice to 'hope for a quirk in the next life and take a swan dive off the roof.' Thankfully, in this story his depression and attempt are being dealt with.
Also related to this is one of my favorite tropes: Bakugou faces consequences. Realistic consequences, at that. Ones that might actually lead to him becoming a better person over just punishment or judgement. God, do I wish therapy was an actual thing in the MHA universe canon. So many characters could use it.
Midoriya's friendship with Tokoyami in this fic is also worth mention. He's a character I wish more people wrote about. Then there's his interaction with Hawk's -- which has led to me being curious if the two are going to have any other meetings (because I very much enjoyed them. I love stories where Hawks takes Midoriya - or any student - under his wing. Heh...'wing', get it?)
