But like seriously, go watch the movie. It’s very good and demonstrates a man who is holding himself accountable and regretting the fact that he will be burning in hell in the afterlife. Cillian Murphy’s acting is superb and I was totally watching the movie because of him.

Of course, this movie is from Oppenheimer’s perspective, so you won’t see much on the people who were affected. I wished there’s more to highlight on it to show how much he was damned for the rest of his life, but I don’t think Christopher Nolan is the best director in on this subject. One thing got to be noted is that the movie itself does not glorify nuclear weapons and it highlights a lot on Oppenheimer’s own guilt on being the chief architect of this weapon of mass destruction.

Oh yes, by the way, this dude’s a white cishet male left-leaning intellectual who smokes too much so he deserves to be slut-shamed.

Hmm. I had formerly considered "type of guy who is more interested in social abstractions than in objects" to be the essentially normie position. Which is it. But it's now becoming clear that this is also the rationalist position and, more broadly, the computer guy position. As contrasted with the object-first stance, the interest in the-thing-for-its-own-sake, which you find among chemists, biologists, historians and so forth. And philologists of course.

"Is this good? Is this just? Is this optimal? Is this efficient? Is this socially responsible?" <- one question, the judgement question, the question of engineers and social reformers.

"How does this work? Where did it come from? What are its characteristics?" <- another question, the content question, the question of scholars, motivated by curiosity in its purest form.

One dimension of your type-of-guy-vector is determined by which question you ask first and most fervently upon encountering something new.

not to be dramatic but i am sincerely so fucking tired of being the girl after the long term relationship. the transition, the distraction, the placeholder. i’m reliable and convenient and will make them feel good until the breakup hits them. and the time it hits them is always when i’m already used to their good morning and good night texts, when it feels wrong to sleep without them, when their eventual departure feels like the end of the fucking world. because it always is. because i’ll fall in love and grow so attached yet i somehow can never seem to compete with the love given by the girl before me
