The relief that suffused his body was so complete it was unfathomable. It was as if the sickness inside of him was erased, and in its absence? An exhausted peace and calm, like he had come to the end of a long trial.

True enough. I say this all the time.Trez looked at his hands. “I didn’t ask for this.”“No one asks for life.” The executioner hiked iAm’s body up higher. “And sometimes they do not ask for death...

As she nodded, she realized they would not spend the day sleeping together, side by side, in his bed. Or hers.
She took a sip from her water glass and marveled at how you could sit so close to someone and still have him be totally far away from you.

Sometimes you just have to get to the bottom of something, and that’s what we’re here for. Today, we’re taking an unexpected, unexpectedly thorough at what might be one of the rarest and most maligned heroes in Romancelandia—the Himbo. He’s darling, he’s sweet, and he’s made of nothing but love and abs. Journey with us as we consider the place of these lovable dummies in the pantheon of this great genre of ours.

Welcome to the wonderful world of jealousy, he thought. For the price of admission, you get a splitting headache, a nearly irresistible urge to commit murder, and an inferiority complex.

Lover Avenged (J.R. Ward): A Review
In this installment of the Black Dagger Brotherhood Series, we follow Rehvenge’s story, as well as get a bit more of Wrath and Beth from the first book in the series. It was really nice reconnecting with the couple who started it all. As Rehvenge is one of my personal favorite characters in the series (second only to V), I have looked forward to this story. Of course, J.R. Ward does not…

Black Dagger Brotherhood by J.R. Ward 📚🖤
vampires • urban fantasy • romance • loyalty • fate • supernatural conflicts • passion • redemption
What currently provides me with a form of lovely escapism, besides music (especially Rammstein, of course), is this book series. It’s always astonishing how quickly characters can grow dear to you, how much you can suffer and root for them. The books might be dramatic and over the top sometimes, but I just adore the whole aesthetic, filled with tragic and brooding vampires.

Just finished: Lover Reborn by J.R. Ward
My thoughts:
I wasn't happy about the dynamics of the relationship between John and Xhex - there are so many unsaid things, so many problems they could have solved faster with just a good long talk.
I was really happy about the women taking part in the fights. ⚔️
Apart from that, it was good, that the Old Laws became a problem once more with Quinn's bloodline not being fit to qualify him as a Brother. So step by step they are going to be updated. And Quinn as a Brother?? Awww.
I just love Lassiter and I really hope, that the future stories will tell us a bit more about his former relationship with the Brotherhood and his lost love. It's also refreshing to read about a character, who isn't constantly in love with someone or having sex all the time.
I'm rooting for Tohr and No'One and him giving her a new name? Very cute.
I didn't like the whole problem with Wellsie in the other realm, though. Yes, there had to be a solution to Tohr's death wish and I'm happy for him, but he hadn't had a choice, he had to start a new relationship in order to save his former wife. Trying to live with all the grief and being okay with it? Hell yes. But constant pressure and fear shouldn't force you to be happy, healthy and in love.
Oh, and when did Beth learn the Old Language?? When Wrath made his statement in the hospital after he was shot (that Tohr was allowed to kill Xcor), she seemed to understand everything and said yes + that she had witnessed it.

To be fair to Wrath, he had refused to ascend the throne until the end of Dark Lover, so he wasn't in position to change it before then. Lover Awakened, when he actually outlawed it, wasn't that long after Dark Lover (from what I can tell of the inconsistent timeline).
But hell, you think you'd have a bucket list of Things I'd Change If I Could after being a Brother for that long in such a shitty society and "stopping the slave system that victimized my brother" would be pretty close to the top...
The only way I will be ever satisfied with the brotherhood and Zsadist relationship is when all of them (specially Wrath) offers a rythe for allowing blood slaving to happen after fighting by his side for almost 144 years and still judge his PTSD

Because his was a destiny of yearning, of being outside looking in, of seeing the fire but not being able to get close enough to it to be warmed by it.
