Paul before and after enough spice diet. It's easy to imagine that the Fremeneni (funnily enough neni = sand in Na'vi!) would be a desert people, with darker natural colourations and large ears, like my Txepiva clans.

Feyd is just weird and smoooooth. He's a sort of softer Lyle and tbh I don't know if that's the best representation for him. Should probably make him more angular and intense. I like to think that Earth has been fucking with genetics for a while and Feyd comes from a rich colony that has been undergoing genetic editing to better live in space, which includes complete baldness.

His avatar has no hair either, and so he wears a synthetic sheath to protect his tswin and kuru.

Feyd would fill part of Jake's role (military man inserted for the first time in an avatar body to change the status quo) and part of Quaritch's disruptive role, going out to beat back the jungle and cut the scientific missions short. It parallels Feyd's arrival on Arrakis.

While Feyd is RDA, Paul would be part of man fan-made association, ESRA : the European Space Research Agency. His father Leto is the director, and Paul is the "little princeling" of ESRA, trained his whole life to be the youngest avatar driver in history. He travels to Pandora with his mother, who is a xenoethonologist.

The two of them will clash with the RDA and find themselves at the mercy of the Fremeneni clan, with Jessica expoiting the heck out of their customs and legends to make Paul into a chosen one.

The parallels just write themselves.

Deus Ex in Yuletide 2022

Did I mentioned the Deus Ex series is nominated in this year's Yuletide fic exchange too? And presumably there's at least a couple of others interested, because folks have nominated 14 different characters (and you can only nominated 4 each). Alright, but let’s actually talk about Callum McClintock

Fun fact about me: when there’s a new young but adult-looking man in HPHM, my first reaction is often: “it could’ve been Jacob”. This is how it was with Orion, with the Wizard in White, and Callum was no different. Well, he was kinda different because I thought: “OMG, are you real Jacob??”. And at first, it was totally a joke. But then I talked with @thedoodlecat​ who inspired this whole theory. Because she pointed out that “Callum” means “dove” and that there’s a particular relationship between doves and peregrine falcons. You know what that relationship is?

Peregrine falcons hunt and eat doves.

ARE YOU FREAKING KIDDING ME??

And I know what you’re thinking: it’s JC we’re talking about, they don’t know what they’re doing at this point. And you’re not wrong! However, JC also loves to play with names. Alright, but where’s Jacob in all of that? Admittedly, Callum doesn’t have to be Jacob. But on the other hand… it does make sense. And I know, I know, I might be influenced by my desperate wish for vault!Jacob to be fake… But just bear with me, please.

First of all, we’ve spent way too much time on the whole mystery of where exactly Callum works and being just a janitor feels too random to be a coincidence, in my opinion. If Jam City simply needed someone to help MC with cursed artefacts, they could’ve made Callum a Curse-Breaker or an employee of any other department who happens to be very passionate about curse-breaking. But no, Callum is not just some guy. Even if he’s not secretly Jacob, I believe that Callum had some past with Peregrine/R, especially when we consider the meaning of his name.

Ok, so does it mean that Callum hides in the Ministry? Well, it’s possible. Although I think it’s also possible that he’s allowed to stay IF he works as a janitor. Being a janitor means that he has no real influence. R might even believe that he has no access to anything important. Moreover, the janitor’s job might be seen by them as humiliating on its own.

And by the way, here’s a funny side note for you. Remember when Merula was making fun of MC for being a janitor at the Ministry?

Back to Callum, though.

Ok, but if he is Jacob… Well, I assume that R would have to manipulate some memories of some people and basically erase Callum!Jacob from existence. That’s why Callum can’t really go to anyone for help: nobody remembers him. On top of that, R might find out about it sooner or later. So, he stays low. Moreover, a while ago (in this post), I talked about the letter R sent to Jacob after Duncan’s death, where they mentioned “Miss Green’s fate”. I pointed out then that it might refer to Olivia’s memories being modified and that it’d mean Jacob had to know about it. So… what if Callum does know about it? And he was absolutely heartbroken that Olivia didn’t recognise him when they met recently at the Ministry?

Also, let’s talk about Callum’s last name. Because yes, “McClintock” is a surname of Scottish and Irish Gaelic origin which fits Callum’s “Scottishness”. But you know what’s actually the first result for this surname? “Barbara McClintock”. And Barbara is well known for her research in genetics. In fact, she was the first woman to receive an unshared Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine. So, here’s my question: why the hell JC chose so very specific last name? I mean, sure, it might be a coincidence. But why not one of the more generic Scottish surnames? Why not Campbell, Stewart or Murray? Well, what if McClintock’s genetic research is actually important?

Alright, I admit that this part might be the biggest stretch in the whole theory, but this name just seems odd to me. So, you know how I keep talking about MC and Jacob possibly being connected to the Cursed Vaults by blood? And how MC and Jacob are born Legilimenses, for example? The point is that there’s something going on when it comes to family, so perhaps the choice of “McClintock” was supposed to be a very loose connection to that? Because here’s the thing: Jacob we know from before the Portrait Vault was a huge nerd. And he would definitely get interested in a such potential connection and tried to study. And I’m sorry, but Callum McClintock totally gives “a huge nerd” vibes.

I mean, just look at them:

A) A huge nerd, an intellectual, loves reading old books, probably said: “the dustier, the better” at some point in his life. Would absolutely come up with his own code by modifying Ancient Runes (that would impress Rowan Khanna some years later).

B) A half-brain. Gets into fights after football matches and gets drunk with his bros.

Also, can I just say that Callum showed more concern about MC during a couple of minutes than Fugly Slut over the whole time since we got him out of that stupid portrait???

Finally, one more silly thing. As you can see above, Callum has black hair. Interestingly, Peregrine also has black hair and it doesn’t change based on MC, unlike his eyes or skin colour.

Now, I’m aware that it’s totally possible for dark-haired people to have light-haired children… But considering that dark hair is a dominant gene, wouldn’t it make sense that at least one child inherited Peregrine’s hair colour?

Anyway, I guess that’s it for now! Again, I’m ready to accept that Callum is not Jacob – though I will cry from happiness for a week if he is… But I’ll actually be surprised if he has no connection to R whatsoever. I don’t know, maybe he simply runs his own investigation in his free time or something? I suppose it’d be enough for Peregrine to want to hunt him down.

If you love Viking history then this is definitely the book for you. This is so much better than the History channel! It is the story of Harold Hardrada/Sigurdsson. It shows all he had to deal with from his exile, death of his brother and to eventually become the King of Norway.

An old warrior is the storyteller in this book who tells the story which I absolutely loved. It also displays how these warriors dealt with battles, politics, war, murder, deception and treachery. Fascinating to hear of King Harold’s early years, it is no wonder he became such a legend in Viking history!

I absolutely loved this book from start to finish plus I am fascinated with Viking history and I loved the fictional elements too. It was a book I could not put down which I read late into the night to finish it in one setting!

This is a phenomenal read not to be missed and I can't wait for the next book in this exceptional series!

The more liker seeing emphatically and some are screaming it it's not when your plan is we're not going to shoot him in the head first it's Tommy f and Garth is under the influence we see it is a weakling anyways. They pretty much is he admits but really there's a lot of people going to Gators and usually they meet there and it's kind of like an excuse baby hey they are after the dragon because I'm paranoid I actually having a war between themselves and I agree I feel better this is good and don't call me paranoid okay but you can call me anytime you want day or night. Pretty sure we need more specialists. Not even funny anyways there's a lot of them going there he wants a complete report

So Jason showed up with his African character it says it's really kind of a Haitian look which is Cajun and they eat a lot of gator and it does have meaning because I used to call Max T-Rex until all their craziness came out and Jason says that's what the problem is. There's one proof of theorem and they're really at it they're moving and they're moving fast to get to that restaurant okay it's only 9:00 a.m. and they're not open they said the place next to it is since I have to go to Duncan's refreshing prepare for beer and then doing that so yeah I can get Gator me pretty quick and my husband's right he thinks it said Sam's and it is there's a bunch of it so it's going on that the guy has to find some there's a ton of tractors so they can go get it but he only buys from a couple sources now this is getting pretty big and people are getting ready to go to Gators just going to be a big crowd and a handle it before they happen to go and it's going to start happening for real there's a couple reasons he's just over supposedly the snowbirds are leaving and this happens when they leave the other reason is that not only is Easter over but nothing happened and they know who to blame and they probably get off it and the Thursday have an invasion it needs to meet there and they're going to meet there now and it's huge it's a big meeting and they're getting ready and it looks like Jason headed up. Oops I can I can see who is getting there and it's a lot of people from out of town they need it there's a bunch of people coming in . It just changing costumes he says I know they're going to get there as their original format we'll have to waste 2 hours Bob Evans in summer at Duncan's and summer at Winn-Dixie all kind of clustering over there and really they're at almost every place that's nearby and they want to see about this renovation. The cops are getting interested because there's so many there's like three or 400 of them and they don't say Gator bites so then it has to be the renovation and this odd chemical smells and usually it's like a lye smell. Rumor has it that JC and Mary owned it and all of them and also beef o Brady's and they did and they used to call her queen of lie no but they might now it's been a long time. It's another interest in tearing it up that the guys like I don't think so and it's John remillard and he took over and the cops are going to go there and probably shut it down. Now this is what happens and the guy can't see this stuff doesn't think it's a big deal until she's free down here.

They're sending some cops down there and people say this place stinks and it smells weird and then beef is with pork and so they're kind of like upset about it and I'm going to have to go down there and look myself because we have some people who went missing there recently in the past couple months and I want these people dead and the lying about shooting the head except for Tommy F and I want him dead now a lot of people say it but usually I don't see it about people unless we mean it.. now VGA had our son use lie on the deck and the deck is just like Gators and he's supposed to be this genius who figured it out but he knows it's all over the place and he wants to replace the building this is a piece of s***. They're fighting over the presidency.

They blame the max completely but gimmead and Titan we're heating up and they're aiming at the planet and we can tell it's saying it is and they sprayed them when they said and it didn't take long it's way too fast the ships would take at least half an hour if they cover the whole area and they were not

These people worked on it and they figured it out and they sent it out this morning and will and bill sent it out and Max sent it out it is a huge deal with them that's why they want to meet but the max want to go down there first. And they think they know who's running the place I'm going to check it and people say Gators history has changed

They've been through so much and JC loves to forget them all. Hell Olivia's been gone since her introduction, and Duncan's not even shown up in year seven yet. Idk but shouldn't MC at least go say "hey we beat the final vault". Now im rambling, but the gist is that JC created cool characters then threw them away :( also luv ur art

tbh I forgot all about Olivia. 😅 it’s always been about Duncan and Jacob. Even then, Jacob never seemed to have mentioned Duncan to MC even though they were supposedly friends.

for the record I want it to be known that WWX-like protagonist was in hell for the entire duration where the local JC used to smoke as a teen. a maelstrom of hands/parted lips/soft glow caressing tan skin/dramatic shadows from thick eyelashes/did we say curled hands and parted lips yet

so much lighting up of Duncan's cigs while cupping his cheek and afterwards telling him that smoking is bad for him

if we don't get information on Jacob, Duncan and Olivia (aka the Lost/Forgotten/Cursed trio) soon I'm going to scream this isn't a plot hole it's sacrilege

I don't know if you mentioned this already, but I just saw the reunion of Jacob, Duncan and Olivia and is so... cringy and weird. Is so weird how Jacob and Olivia doesn't match on height, and how Duncan runs when he's... well... a ghost... JC is just getting worse, I swear...

Good Lord, this animation was just… so bad. Seriously, why? Duncan used to float, as a ghost should, so again: WHY?? I mean, I suppose it’s because it’s a fairly new animation, and JC tends to overuse new animations… but still. How nobody realised how ridiculous it looks?

I have a bit of a delay in the commentary of the chapters, and so I didn’t talk about that reunion yet. But I have to agree with you: it was cringy and weird. And it’s not even about the technical aspects. I think what bothered me the most is that the story presented during the reunion simply made no sense.

Ok, so according to that chapter, there was a conflict between Olivia and Jacob because she thought that Jacob pushed Duncan into brewing the potion and therefore was responsible for Duncan’s death.

And sure, it is somewhat consistent with Olivia’s memories:

The problem is that they also basically said that Olivia had no idea about R’s involvement in all of that:

But, if that’s the case… why the fuck she was spying on Rakepick? And why she decided to go confront Rakepick immediately after Duncan’s death??

On top of that, in Y7Ch41, we learnt this from Jacob:

So, even if they didn’t tell Olivia about R officially, Jacob had to at least think that Olivia suspects something. But now… we just don’t acknowledge any of that??

Here’s how I interpreted what we saw in Olivia’s memories: Olivia and Jacob knew that R is making Duncan brew the potion, but she thought that it was ultimately Jacob who convinced Duncan to listen to R. Then she blamed Jacob for Duncan’s death because of that and because he was the one who got them involved in the Cursed Vaults. But apparently no! She actually thought it was ALL Jacob. So… why the fuck she went to confront Rakepick?! And the most frustrating thing is that we actually talk about Olivia confronting Rakepick during the reunion!

Do you see how it makes just no sense? I can't be the only one who thinks they turned Olivia's story into a hot mess.

Seriously, it’s like each chapter nowadays is being written by a different new person who gets like 10 mins to learn what the story is even about.
