for @bucktommypositivityweek Sunday 8/18: meeting the friends and family | spicy cupcakes | 534 words | rated G
“How do I look?”
“What was that, babe?”
Buck stuck his head around the bathroom door. Tommy was standing in front of the mirror, plucking nervously at his shirt.
“How do I look? Do I look okay?” he repeated, turning toward Buck.
“Yes? You look fine?” Buck said, coming into the bathroom. “You know I like this shirt, it brings out your eyes. Why do you ask?”
“This is the first time I’m meeting her. I have to make a good impression.”
“Who, Maddie?” Buck asked, confused. “What are you talking about, you’ve met her. Like, twice now. She thinks you’re great, Tommy, you know that.”
“Not Maddie. Jee-Yun,” Tommy said, as if it were obvious. “Your niece.”
Buck couldn’t help the chuckle that escaped him, and Tommy fixed him with a look.
“I mean it,” he said. “Do I look… approachable? I don’t have any nieces or nephews, I don’t know how to interact with little kids. Should I put on a t shirt instead?”
“Tommy. Babe,” Buck said, running his hands down his boyfriend’s chest and resting them on his hips. “You look fine. I cannot stress enough that Jee does not care. I mean, maybe if you showed up in a unicorn onesie that would score some points – she’s in a big unicorn phase right now. But outside of that? It literally doesn’t matter.”
Tommy got a speculative look on his face, like he was suddenly considering the logistics of finding a unicorn onesie at short notice that would fit a 6’2” firefighter, and Buck laughed again.
“Look,” he said. “My number one tip for hanging out with Jee-Yun? Or any kid, really. Just – treat her like a human being. You know, she’s not a doll, she’s not a prop. Ask her questions and listen to what she says. Play pretend. If she asks you to read a book, do the voices. But don’t stress.” He squeezed Tommy’s hips. “Seriously. They can sense that. Like sharks with blood in the water.”
“That is not helping.”
Several hours later, Tommy was sitting on the floor of Maddie and Chimney’s living room. A very elaborate tea party was spread out on the coffee table; he and Jee-Yun were both wearing sparkly pink plastic tiaras, and Tommy also had a purple feather boa draped across his broad shoulders.
Chim was in the kitchen, wrangling the dinner dishes, and Buck and Maddie were sitting at the dining table nursing glasses of wine.
“I think he’s a natural,” Maddie said conspiratorially, leaning toward her brother. “Look at them together.”
“Yeah,” said Buck. “I had a feeling he would be.”
“Your Majesty,” said Tommy, voice dripping with faux outrage. “Are you seriously telling me that you think the rainbow cupcakes taste better than the sprinkle ice cream?”
“Nooo!” cackled Jee-Yun. “Uncle Tommy! I maked you rainbow ice cream and spicy cupcakes!”
“Ohhh!”
Across the room, Tommy hissed and fanned his mouth as though he’d just downed a spoonful of sriracha.
Uncle Tommy, mouthed Maddie in delight, and I know, mouthed Buck back.
“Spicy cupcakes!” Tommy gasped. “My queen! How could you!”
“You’d better keep him around,” Maddie said fondly.
“I plan to,” Buck said with a smile.

I've taken direct admission in my clg, (they gave me on the basis on my boards performance) and people which take admissions through entrance exams look down on people like me/us. They talk abt us with making all sort of faces and all, seeing us as most non deserving people.
BUT I am currently outperforming the same people in like almost every subject. The same people call me THE TOPPER now. They see me performing and ask me my JEE percentile or score on entrance exam and i don't even lie, I tell them the crt percentile and their first reaction is kyu juth bol raha hai, they just won't believe it, i end up giving them crisis after giving proofs that I person like me with that score can out perform them.
Anyways the point is I would have been the same as them, if i wouldn't have experienced what i have experienced, my whole out take has been changed, those people just won't consider and situations might me different for that person or their might me some issues he/she ran into at that time.
And now i look it as giving chances to those people, people like me, who for some reason just couldn't do it at that time. You never know what kind of potential a person is holding inside him. YES I AGREE that its kind of taking bets, but I believe people should get chances, I think every one deserves that.
PS:- Same topic pe mera kisi ke sath discussion hota hai toh and i just end up clearly saying ki because they are giving those opportunities I'm here, and I toh am very gratefull for it.

Quickly before it’s not Sunday anymore! 👀
Thank you @theotherbuckley for the tag 🫶
From Chapter 6 of Tommy Mpreg fic
It’s Halloween and not a single parent has off, but Tommy is working a short shift. Clearly he is suffering from pregnancy related insanity… because when Jee begs him to take her trick-or-treating at family dinner one night… not only does he agree to take her, but also to take Mara and Denny and even Christopher (who says he is too old to trick-or-treat but apparently has nothing better to do). “Are you sure about this?” Evan asked cautiously.  “Nope,” Tommy laughs, but gives all the parents a time to drop the kids off at Harbor anyway.  Now he is experiencing extreme deja vu watching the offspring of Hen, Chimney, and Eddie play near a helicopter while he’s carrying Evan’s. “I think I’m getting PTSD…” he whispers to Lucy, who laughs.  “I’m honestly not sure what seems scarier, flying through a hurricane, or walking through a sea of sugar-high unidentifiable kids. You’re a brave man, Kinard,” she laughs and pats him on the shoulder.  He walks over to them and smiles: “You guys ready to go?”  “Not yet,” Mara exclaims, almost excitedly. “You’re not in costume!” Tommy looks between them skeptically, then down at himself. “I’m not trick-or-treating…”. “Neither am I,” Christopher says. “And I have one.” He gestures to his Rambo costume passed down from Eddie now that he is practically his father’s size.  “You keep saying you’re not, yet you have that,” Tommy nods to the trash bag in Christopher’s hand, changing the topic. “Looks like you already scored, even.” Christopher looks at the bag in his hand and smirks. “Oh no— well… if we hit some houses with full size candy bars then yes but— this is your costume.” “My costume?” Fifteen minutes later Lucy is in tears from laughing, taking pictures of Tommy and the kids. Jee is a Princess (of course); Mara, an astronaut; Denny wore his football gear; Chris is Rambo; and Tommy… Well Tommy is a zombie. Makeup done by Lucy, and a tattered and dirty tee shirt with two dismembered baby dolls hot glued to the front— like they are “coming out”— of the stomach. He was worried it was going to scare Jee but a call to a very enthused Maddie revealed she was the one who offered up the baby dolls.
Tagging a couple people cause no one really cares if we get sneak peaks the next day lol @onthewaytosomewhere @30somethingautisticteacher @judymarch15 @bucksxkinard @marvelousbuckley @nine-one-wanton andddddd @bidisasterevankinard

Note
apparently one 100% in jee main this year allegedly(!) cheated on the exam as they got 7% in jan and now they've gotten 100. and just as an FYI 7% is like, when you get a negative score. It's makes me feel sooo angry and defeated, cause I gave my all and didn't reach the cutoff but someone cheated and got a perfect score.
people are cheating in jee mains??? how the fuck are they managing that?? when i went to give mains, literally every person around me was so standoffish that i genuinely felt like they might murder me if given the chance. so who are people cheating from these days??? 😭
