its hard enough to just pick ten of them that i dont think i can rank them 1-10 so im just gonna say my favorites in no order. (also im not going to count emily rohm! i usually dont include the american tour in these sort of questions). just be ready cause i am about to yap SO hard i am going fucking OFF

sarah jane pelzer! the og, but also i just love the darker sort of tone she uses for jane. it really shows a different side of jane that i love.

playhouse collective jane is just so cute and i think such a good take on the character. adore her so much

ofc jane was one of the first i ever saw, and i just really like the characterization and interactions with the other characters. still to this day one of the best vocally that ive ever heard!

usd and k&e both are productions where i have not seen any content of them actually performing but i adore them so much anyways. in all the pictures of usd theatre i just realllly love how jane holds herself and i think that is a very important aspect of jane so i wanted to mention it. and for k&e i just genuinely love her costume so much it makes me so happy as a costumer myself...

ut austin gotta rep my texans.. but rly i am just very into the direction taken with the character in this production and think that all the decisions made for her were very well done. plus i always love a white hair jane and i think the white lashes was also a really nice creative decision.. very ghostly and i think it fits so well.

majestic repertory!! a current production (which i have been waiting for for MONTHS to happen as i am familiar with some of the theatres other work and knew they would do this show so well. (and i was right!)), i love when janes take the more scary route with their movements, similar to my love for roxys downtown jane! and she is a prime example of that. i really love the characterization so much and it is definitely more similar to how i imagine her.

roxys downtown is the best example of how i actually imagine jane to be... their jane is the blueprint to me.. the actors choices and work with movement is so impressive and genuinely captures the character so well i can hardly imagine any other direction. plus the amout of impact their bojd had on future theatres is undeniable there is nothing like it

jungle theatre another one of the earlier productions i have just kind of always adored, the costuming is just so well done and i think we owe all the props to the first marionette jane

and cjt jane i love!!! i found their production from the jane actor themself, we were talking in a comment section and they sent me their theatres tiktok (which had three followers at the time lmao they were still months out to opening) so i kind of have a special place in my heart for them. their sweet childish kind of charactization is just so precious and really encapsulates the tragedy of the situation i think. plus also they made me CRY with their reaction to ocean sending jane back and that has never happened before so.

the best vocally that i can think of would have to be

ashlyn maddox. i wish i could say otherwise but she brought such a fresh voice to the character and is very clearly trained to perform in this register. plus the opt up she does changed me as a person forever and i genuinely cant hear the song without it.

ofc theatre- some of the clearest notes ive heard by any jane, and the stability that she performs is so beautiful. im also obsessed with the gentle vibrato and more sweet tone that she has compared to the intense operatic style of the original material.

beck centre, i havent watched in a hot minute so i cant give the most specific examples but i just remember how healthy and clear her vocals were and that is something that surprisingly many productions are lacking. i really appreciate when i find one where the actor sounds practically effortless.

the cast of mini mirage that there is a recording of. (i cant say anything for the other 2 casts sadly). i really appreciate a young actor who not only can pull off the song alone (WITH HEALTHY AND SUPPORTED VOCALS) but also incorporate the ashlyn maddox opt up!! i love that choice so much and cant believe we moved on from it so fast its such an incredible moment in any production that utilizes it as long as it is well done by the actor. i also just really love this actors vocal tone, i think it is so rich and beautiful and very different from most voices, especially in contemporary musical theatre.

frederica aesfrost triangle strategy. that is my GIRL. i dont know how many of you guys have played triangle strategy but me personally it changed my life. not gonna say too much because i dont wanna spoil it, but shes such a great female lead. shes basically fighting for the liberation of her people, the roselle, who the society of the game has basically condemned for no reason so if you go through her arc, you see how she deals with the pressure of having to free them, how hard it hurts to witness them in the state that theyre in, and the sacrifices she has to make to get what she wants and GOD. its so good. shes so good. also she cant fucking cook. me too girl.

3. What’s a female character you look up to?

ema skye ace attorney, specifically in aa4-6. ive never seen a character that made me go ‘GOD shes just like me fr’ like her (and apollo justice. but this isnt about him). i feel like it’s rare to see main characters like her really love something, and then FAIL pathetically at it. over and over. not that i enjoy seeing her not getting her forensic license, but it just feels so real. sometimes you love something and you’re so passionate about it but you just dont get it. and how does she react? is she still the bubbly ema you see in rfta with a “we’ll get em next time!” attitude? no!! no she’s not, she’s bitter, grumpy, snarky, dealing with the most annoying prosecutor of all time, and she’s so fucking real. be frustrated! be angry! life hands you shit cards you can be mad about how you have to play it! it’s nice seeing characters who pick themselves back up so easily, but most people arent like that and im certainly not, and seeing a character who’s just so honest about that is really refreshing. of course, she finally gets her dream in aa6, but that doesnt come without years and years of trying. in a universe where people are becoming lawyers at 18, it’s nice to see someone realistic. (im also trying to step foot into the forensic field eventually sooo… the fact that shes on the same path as me just kinda makes it hit harder, you know?)

5. A female villain you love?

pissing off both sides of the argument by calling her a villain and saying i love her but edelgard von hresvelg. before anyone says anything my favorite lord is yuri leclerc and the rest of them are equal in my heart <3 but edelgard clearly takes on more of a villain role in every route except her own, and even then she’s not entirely morally correct (duh). but i dont know. i wont say too much on your ask faye cuz i know you havent finished the other routes yet, but even when i played azure moon i couldnt bring myself to dislike her. her past with dimitri, the way she kept the dagger, and everything she reveals to you on her own path and how her past shaped her into who she is and what she wants and how she will stop at nothing to get it. i dont agree with the ends justifying the means, but i love characters who believe in that because it’s just so interesting. you want this thing so bad, nothing will stop you? your friends, your family, knowing you’re doing wrong because you think it’ll turn out right? what if it goes wrong. what if it blows up in your face? what if history remembers you as the villain forever? you’re already too deep in it i guess, so just keep going. shes so… ggrarghj. edelgard 🥹

6. A female character who got done dirty by the narrative?

athena cykes ace attorney. you’re telling me the entirety of aa5 is revolves around HER story, HER past, HER relationships, and it’s called “Phoenix Wright: Dual Destinies”? the dual, by the way, refers to apollo. and you dont even play as athena during the climax of the game, you play as phoenix and shes just WATCHING. will they redeem her in aa6? you mean “Phoenix Wright: Spirit of Justice?” you mean the game where she gets ONE case on her own and it’s a FILLER CASE? admittedly a pretty good filler case but still. god. what the hell. i get phoenix sells but if you’re make new lawyers to take on his legacy, maybe? let them do that???

15. Female character you would defend with your life?

as usual there are so many to pick from. but i think this time i’m gonna pick nyx fire emblem. now, dont get me wrong. i will not defend her design. fates’ female dark mage design is pretty bad, especially since its used on ophelia and nyx. as much as i sincerely dont think nyx looks like a child as opposed to just a pretty short young woman, it’s…. blerghh. but aside from that? i cant STAND when people say shes just generic loli bait that acts like a child. because where? WHERE? point to where in her supports she acts like a child seriously. i know in her supports with charlotte she attempts to try it, but the point is that its unnatural and uncomfortable for her to do so. she is just. not like that. she doesnt try to play around like nowi or myrrh. shes not a child in dragon years or anything. shes just an older woman stuck in the body of a younger one, and if you would just READ one support, literally any of them, you would know that. but fates haters dont read, do they? clearly not. and its just a huge disservice to the rest of her character, which i think is incredibly beautifully written. shes such a standout in fates and i cant stand people ignoring that because “waaah nowi clone!” fuck you.

its really good and i have alot of emotions that i havent quite worked out yet. but heres some thoughts:

- Very Good

- this healed a part of my former catholic currently religiously traumatized soul. obviously a show like good omens would hurt some sore spots, even unintionally just due to the aesthetics, right? WRONG. i never thought id be able to watch something that has to do with religion and not feel uncomfortable. but somehow, i got through the entire first season without feeling that discomfort. maybe ive grown, maybe its the show. but the way they... did... well, everything felt so disconnected from the catholicism i grew up with.

and the show is obviously catholic (at least to my experience) everything is story book catholicism, and yet... it feels different. maybe its god being a woman of color (i believe?) adam and eve being people of color, the gay angel and demon eye fucking every so often, and the honest depiction of first testimant things being Fucked Up, even for a demon, feels so disconnected from the white washed, hateful, church i grew up with. so it didnt hurt watching it. not for a second. and that made me incredibly happy.

- the use of queen music is killing me and so fucking perfect. first of all, all bangers. obviously. its queen. second, theres something about queen, and its place in the queer community, mirroring nicely with crowley and aziraphale. i cant quite put it to words yet.

- the camera angles in heaven being incredibly uncomfortable and awkward, literally warping the angles to be gigantic monsters. if they used normal camera angles and focus lenses, heaven wouldnt look too off. empty and barren, yes, but otherwise fine. using these low or up close shots makes my neck sweat and physically want to lean away from my tv. so good!!!! immediately shows they are very much not the heros in this story. also heavan and hell wanting war so bad showed that heavan was NOT on humanity's side. they were on heavans side. it made a beautiful common enemy for aziraphale and crowley and the humans to be up against. i hope they explore aziraphale and crowley and humanity vs the afterlives in the future.

- GAY PEOPLE!!!! THEY ARE SO IN LOVE!!!! AND AFRAID!!!! i hope they use this break after saving the world and showing their people theyre invincible to holy water/ demonic fire to get together!!!! they wont but i can dream!!!

- the idea of people always watching and keeping score is so terrifying when you think about it. no wonder theyre terrified. theyre existence is to just do what angels and demons do. and they have to do that forever without break. can you imagine how exhausting that must be?

maybe for a regular demon and angel thats fine, but aziraphale and crowley are a bit more then that. theyre in a slight gray area, and it cant be easy to do ONLY holy or ONLY evil things. add on to that the horrors of being on earth for a long time. you cant get attached to much. people die, things go out of style, animals and plants go extinct, libraries and art burn, things get lost and lost media is heartbreaking.

-the actors are really good. like these mfs are in LOVE LOOK AT THEIR EYES. wow. best "im in love with you but im hiding it" eyes ive ever seen. also i need to watch the finale again to appreciate the body language used to show that theyre in swapped bodies.

- the plot is really good and interesting!! i was afraid of missing crowley and aziraphale when we switched to adam or the witch hunter or the witch but i didnt miss them most of the time! i was super intrested in how adam would turn out without crowley or aziraphale's influence. and the witch stuff was pretty interesting too! some times i got a little lost in it all and got distracted, but tbh thats the adhd experience so.

-theyre so stupid and yearning and blind to eachothers emotions i love it

conclusion: good show! i am reading alot of fanfic about it and i started a side blog to store some good omens stuff on. i enjoy this blog being my personal and watcher blog, and i kinda wanted to have a good omens layout so, sideblog! ill still reblog some good omens things here, but most of it will be over there.

top 5 anime and why unironically

i havent even seen 5 animes in my whole live i think, so here it's truly whatever was on my plate at some point-kinda presentation. will probably say a lot about the Era i was in back in the day, strap in, whippersnappers.

bleach. maaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaan. it's like, you know how spn fans know very well the show stopped being good about 3 seasons in but kept watching till the end? bleach is the spn of the anime world. yet i must emphasise that there is a galaxy-sized distance between the importance of bleach in my life vs every other anime on this list. if you're trying to get into it post-factum, it won't work, you know in advance it's a waste of time, it's only when you were there personally to witness its 2.5 WE'RE SO BACK over the other fifty IT'S SO OVER's, its biggest rise in popularity, its peak of fame, its slow loss of fandom, its return, its undignified death. it's only when you were there personally to see all of that and stay because there's no going back already, must just as well sink with the ship. what WAS so good about it anyway? those 2.5 arcs, yea, then you eventually switch to the manga and see that Kubo had the best style out of everyone ever and his backgrounds were popping too, PLUS he's the only one obsessed with fashion so the characters never wore one thing for generations. even when there are uniforms, they are customised to each character and change every time-skip. i took it for granted all these years, big mistake. basically Kubo never really wanted to develop a story, he just wanted to have bleach forever and that was taken away from him, thus its disgraceful fall, but the fall happened primarily because he just didnt want to let go in the first place and any chance he gets at some anniversary stuff, he immediately tries shoving some cliffhangers in as a chance to bring it back. well. the fans are here. we'd be there.

soul eater, which honestly i only watched bc it was initially very funny. kinda cool but primarily just very funny, which it stopped being about halfway through, and that's when i bailed. it also still has the best opening of all anime to this day. also what was funny is how anime ended years before the manga did and mangaka was sooo angy about how they fucked up the ending but then the manga ending came out and it was just the same shit minus some details, from what i've seen. i also have a keychain with several characters that i got in like 2009, it then lay dormant in some sarcophagus for most of the years until 2023 and emerged in perfect condition. no idea what kind of enamel this is but it's like it's brand new, and it's defs the more cool merch to show around than whatever i had of bleach.

kaiketsu zorro, aka yes, the zorro anime. so far i've seen less than 10 episodes but to me it's just the best zorro adaptation that ever existed. they grind diego's reputation into MOLECULES there's NOTHING left of his dignity it's honestly so incredible, plus we're shaping up a good dozen of characters that have overly dramatic fics about them so i'm already anticipating so many otps to root for. i just expect total mayhem and boy am i looking forward to it.

trinity blood. maaaan it's basically like... you learn that the anime exists, you remember that its whole fame is 90% cosplay community, you look into the origins of the cosplay designs, which leads to discovering the light novels, then the manga, and only then you watch the anime in hysterics of what it fucking did to the source material. but it all started because of the anime and we have to alas somewhat respect that. trinity blood is one of those things you get into as an acknowledged doomsday, since you will never see it end, the death of the author will always be on your mind because the event haunts all those narratives at every angle, and his final notes don't actually resolve anything. post-armageddon priests vs vampires vs biblical elements vs science is just the most teenage boy premise, but it Was cool... the light novels were two, ROM and RAM i forget which was which, one was 4 years prior, the second was 4 years after, so two narratives that i think by the end were meant to lock in one place, one day two chapters would come out where the flash forward ends the whole series in a grand armageddon i bet, while the flashback chapter ends the prelude that started the flash forward in the first place. you see characters in flashbacks become bitter people in flashforwards, characters that have great presence in the past being completely absent in the present, which immediately starts Thoughts, the concept of everything was neat. never meant to be, now good luck trying to find both novels past volume 4, the manga doesnt adapt the flashback novels, the fandom is dead, the anime isn't of any help. doomsday place, doomsday fandom.

eh fuck it, shaman king. the russian version of the intro was one of the best sounding ones and thats as far as i can describe it because i wouldn't be able to recite the plot even if i tried. like pokemon for ghost people, truly. it felt like it had 1000 episodes.

ive spent a long while wallflowering and participating in glips communities for a long while and i can tell you whatever ya need to know honestly. because id rather you and others not waste time speculating on things solely based on vague out of context logs and the speculation of others whove never participated in those groups.

the "scenes" are not primarily or in any way required to be any kind of therapy. they can deal with some emotionallt harrowing themes or be nothing but fun story, and noone has been coerced into roleplay that ive ever seen and it would be rediculous if they were, you cant start a roleplay scene without a character established and a place in the setting and scene they occupy, threatening someone to do all of that would be stupid as hell and to what end? if there are issues with a person in the server they are discussed like normal people, directly in appropriate out of character channels.

something ive observed here and kiwifarms is an obsession with a narrative of glip being a continuously dangerous person that needs constant combating.p

they have been making clear efforts to do better and connect to people even if you havent personally seen it. their priority is moving on from peoples harassment and i reccomend you do the same. youre not helping anyone. youre not calling for anything that hasnt already been adressed. youre gossiping and speculating over someone you feel deserves harm forever.

pengo has directly adressed them more thuroughly and productively than you ever will, plenty of people much closer to glip than you have discussed these things to them directly even if you and those around you cant handle even trying.

if you have any particular questions i can answer, but for the most part i beleive you need to move on and stop pretending you are helping or rescuing anyone by doing this.

I have spoken to multiple people who where pressured into participating in a scene that they did not wish to partake in and they have shared with me screenshots of the event - and it was always difficult for me to read because of how the person who showed me screenshots was treated. Like ok but HOLY SHIT you guys are fucking disturbingly vicious to each other in those scenes. Please seek help from a licensed professional especially if you believe that behavior is normal or "appropriate".

I actually now manage a Discord community and you know how we deal with users that cause problems? Fucking privately. It's not a spectacle for on-lookers who may or may not be involved in a second dedicated channel just for looking on.

We only send one person to talk with the individual in question so they don't have 2 or more people jumping on them at once - my team and I coordinate what messages our point of contact sends to the problem user so nothing gets left out and what needs to be said gets said but it doesn't overwhelm the problem user by having multiple people jumping at them at once. This method also makes us respond slower which is a fucking good thing because it keeps the chat slower (Ergo - less emotionally driven and keeps both them and my team calm) and makes it more likely that we can address the problem in a more concise and to the point way. Because let me tell you having multiple people piling in on someone all with extremely long-ass messages is extremely overwhelming on the receiving end and causes more problems in the long run.

Problems ranging from the confrontation method actually being rather ineffective in actually solving any problems as its incredibly overwhelming and embarrassing (its a spectacle that multiple people watch and partake in, remember) to the end user to the point where the core issue that needs to be resolved is likely to be lost like a needle in a haystack. What this means is that the only real way a Scene can potentially curb problem behavior is by intimidating the end user making them overall more docile in the community because they don't want to deal with that shit again. To problems ranging to the scene method of problem solving is fucking abusive and it's not okay to be abusive to the end user, dipshits.

But sure it makes sense that since you - a single individual - didn't see whats happening as bad then that means every single person I spoken to who said they felt pressured to participate with screenshots in hand of how horribly they were treated are just lying. I'd cite specifics - but I'm not interested in putting them in your groups abusive cross hairs again.

When Glip stops facilitating dangerous hurtful behavior like this is when this blog gets removed. I'm hardly around these days but I still know enough recent information from those Glip has hurt to know that Glip is still an active danger to people that people need to be aware of before they interact in Glips communities. You say I'm not helping anyone and that might be true since I cannot keep this blog active enough to the degree it needs to be to reach people before they interact with Glip because of my own mental well-being.

I have seen Pengo actively participate and facilitate the abusive behavior I take issue with. I have spoken to former members (note:PLURAL) of Glips communities that Pengo has deeply hurt by using his position in Glips communities. If you believe Pengo (and by extension - Glips) method of problem solving productive let alone effective then again I mean this sincerely - seek help.

alright final thoughts:

im very bad at ranking what my top 5 or top 10 kamen rider/toku in general shows are because almost all the shows ive seen have things i think are good and fun and i love them and enjoy them in different ways yknow! i dont think kabuto would be in my top 5 if i ever made a list, but i did really honestly enjoy kabuto. it took me a long time to watch it i think i mightve started watching it in 2021? maybe towards the end of the year im not sure but i know its been one ive been watching for a long time and i am very fond of the characters and i know ill continue to be fond of them in the future for sure, i had a fun time watching the show and seeing what bizarre nonsense happened to the cast

im not about to act like i understood kabuto overall and i know thats a common thing to say about the show which makes sense after watching it like lmao yeah i see why people might not like this or say it makes no sense because a lot of it didnt make sense to me either but the thing is throughout the show and especially towards the end i could like see the outline and vague shape of themes but i felt muddled in being able to fully understand those themes and feel like i didnt really in the end 100% get what those themes might have been trying to say beyond messages about humanity having the capacity for good and changing for the better and of course messages about family and love with tendou being so devoted to both kagami and his sisters. there for sure is a part of the show near the end where it feels like everything just kind of goes off the rails and things are just happening rather than any semblance of plot, but i did like the last episodes and the last battle was especially good, the one year later ending was a little confusing but overall i felt like the ending fit the show well enough. kamen rider kabuto is a show that i have watched and tendou is unkillable and although he is insufferable i do love him

my brother just called to tell me that our cousin, who we havent seen in almost 20 years, has killed himself. i didnt even think i felt any emotional attachment to this guy, thats how distant we are from his family, but uhh turns out i was wrong i guess

he was out of contact with his family too, except for his sister. probably because of his mother? the one bright spot in this is that her child committed suicide and shell live with that pain forever. if i had to choose one person in the world for that to happen to, theres a strong chance id have chosen her, if not for the fact that those kids would then. be my cousins. my aunt hasnt spoken to my immediate family in almost 20 years, ever since she learned that my brother was a lesbian (he is not, but that was his egg understanding of the situation) and that my mom was fine with that. this is after my mom went out of her way and endured a lot on this aunts behalf when my uncle wanted to marry her. its just the hatred for my brother (and me ig but idk if she even knows im not straight) and the pure fucking ingratitude towards my mother. she didnt even come to my mothers funeral. i loathe her. (then she saw on facebook that actually my brother was trans and she sent dad some weird transphobic stuff for a bit but i think shes back to ignoring us)

but my point is, at the same get-together where my aunt would end up cutting contact with our family, my cousins were telling me and my brother "yeah our mom is weird abt gay stuff, we dont actually care"

and my other cousin, this guys younger sister, worked for some progressive campaign at one point iirc? so i feel like they both thought she was nuts

anyway the actual point is. my uncle, my mothers brother who is not Like That and who still talks to us, could only guess at what happened bc my cousin had largely cut contact. but he had a pretty good guess i think

so all i can think is, he was a cop who wasnt a bastard. and because he wasnt a bastard, being in the force, however briefly, destroyed him. he was a lil white kid from a conservative family who didnt really understand what the cops were like and wanted to do good, probably. and then he got in and he was like "jesus fuck what is this." so he quit, but hed already seen too much and maybe done too much, maybe he had PTSD, and he couldnt cope

he was not old. i dont remember his age for sure but i do know he will have quit the force in his twenties, and i know he went to college. so he wasnt in there for long. i just

His friend wants him to sit in on a group therapy session but oopsie friend is murdered in his office. This leads new yor k guy down the spiral of the mystery of his friend's death, and a cop gets involved, he starts an affair, takes over the therapy group its a whole thing. However there is a sixteen year old with gender dysphoria, but I don't remember if its treated... you know, well, I havent seen the film in forever and a day, and it is from 1994 so watch with caution if you do. Also the film deals with serious mental health topics, including child abuse and CSA, everything's a shit show and I'll level the erotic part i... im not clear on.

Studio Ghibli's 'Laputa: Castle in the Sky' (1986)

ghibli's first full length film and hayao miyazaki's second full length film (as far as im aware, ive seen nausicaa too) and it is honestly a masterpiece, like damn what a way to start off your animation studio. this movie is both wholesome and very bittersweet. it has amazing characters, both villain, anti-hero, and hero. plus the romance between pazu and sheetah is so innocent and passionate. theres really such a fantastical element about this entire film its so inspiring to me and i hold it near and dear to my heart, i cry every time.

Jim Hensons 'The Labyrinth' (1986)

this was a childhood favorite of mine. my family LOVES jim hensons dark fantasy, and my brother and i grew up with this movie and the dark crystal (yes i watched the netflix series. yes i am forever bitter netflix cancelled it because it was truly so stunning) and the labyrinth was always my preference over the two even tho i do love both a lot. but this movie was just...so mesmerizing. my favorite scene is actually the ballroom fever dream scene. idk what most peoples' opinions on that scene is but it was soooo stunning to me i adored every bit of it. her whole LOOK THO!!!!!

Studio Chizu's 'Wolf Children: Ame and Yuki' (2012)

STUNNING MOVIE I CRY EVERY TIME!!!! not only does this woman win mother of the goddamn decade but this is such a strong coming of age story for not one protagonist, but THREE. its a coming of age for everyone in that family and how to find your own path and acceptance with growth and change. plus the animation is sooo stunning studio chizu has been slappin since the girl who leapt through time and such before then, but i was just soooo stunned by this movie's ability to mix the fluidity of their 2D and 3D. 3D animes can be rly hit or miss but they did this so well. beautiful stunning amazing movie 12/10 very recommend

Satoshi Kon's 'Perfect Blue' (1997)

this movie fucked me up and when i tell you ive seen it like 10 times LMAO its a psychological thriller and man the content warnings on this one.....its a bit of a traumatizing experience if youre a sexual abuse victim, but its Such a good watch. its got a rly good twist that i personally cant say is very good or not, its probably a bitttt dated. but its not focused on that one thing. this movie follows the trauma of mima and how she was treated by her higher ups and crew into doing things she was not nearly ready for or even wanted to do...but to make it to the top, what else can you do?

Disney's 'Atlantis: The Lost Empire' (2001)

MY FAV FAV FAV DISNEY MOVIE EVER!!!!! say what u want about this movie but its one of disney's BEST!!!! the scene where kida is taken into the crystal light above the pool of water and becomes apart of the crystal? dude that scene Changed Me. so good i love it chefs kiss muah amazing fun movie

HOW CAN I ALMOST FORGET THIS CLASSIC??? my first ghibli movie!!! and it was such an introduction to miyazaki movies. it is such a fantastical take on japanese folklore. i for one am fascinated by japanese folklore, mythology, and culture in general so this movie is always such a treat and i can never get enough of it. one of my all time favorite movies, such a masterpiece.

Makoto Shinaki's 'Children Who Chase Lost Voices' (2011)

now this is one of shinaki's lesser known movies, but its my absolute favorite of his. this animation is still so stunning for 2011, and i can only imagine how impressive it was then considering how his stuff looks now lol but this is a high fantasy movie with miyu irino (♥♥♥♥) voicing the hero. dont ask me the rest of the cast i just hyperfixate on miyu irino specifically because he voices syaoran in the tsubasa series

first off. I watched kiden with the most kasen-biased lens, and even after like 6ish rewatches there are things I might have missed out. second, this is long. hehe. so that's a much needed disclaimer before I unload everything I've been thinking of for the past few weeks.

ofc......this is an abandoned timeline. even so, the only flowers that bloom are those near gracia.

Kokin’s shriek thank you very very very much

they skip half of the plotline of iden and straight away make it clear that everyone knows who the touken danshi are . and the fact that they know they are living in an abandoned timeline. no existential conflicts here?

takayama ukon, I think, as far as I can remember, is the first sute human ive seen that justifies not killing the touken danshi on the basis that they have the same hearts as humans, and are not mere objects. He’s so emptathetic towards them it almost makes me uncomfortable bc well….we know whats going to happen in the end .

jizou running away with gracia is the softest portrayal of a touken danshi denying his duty we’ve ever seen. maybe its the hand holding, treating gracia like she’s fragile.

Urghrjdnf I know it’s a world that came into existence from gracia’s wish but hearing don francisco say “what if we let her be free?” leaves a bad bad taste in my mouth. Sure it may be what she wanted but does she anymore? Isn’t she already supposed to be free in this new world? But then again, would her happiness ultimately lie in her husband living like a depraved madman…..? debatable.

i feel terrible for the honmaru that lost their daisanbutai...all six swords broken in one investigation....*logs in to my honmaru to poke all six of them to make sure theyre ok*

(A bit of an aside, but I find it funny how some of them still have flower petals on their costumes www. Chougi looking fully serious while having a petal lodged in his cape as if just seconds earlier he wasnt dancing. and shishiou scattering petals in his wake as he runs.)

SITTING AROUND A FIRE HOW CUTE. i forgot that this scene in almost its entirety was also in kahakugeki, because this time it’s a completely different setting and theyre doing something other than walking. this feels more lively :)

they discuss a little poetry! specifically the poem kokindenjunotachi recites in the incoming call. kidengumi poetry discussion session in full swing! i still am surprised to find out shishiou also liked poetry bc his former master was an accomplished poet, and also that chougi and nikkari are well-read in old literature. I wonder if that was their own acquired knowledge or from kasen's influence.

feels like everyone has an appreciation (or at least, an understanding) of the arts that kasen likes ("please group me with people who understand elegance").

kasen voice: in most cases the 'uta' you're talking about is not the 'uta' I'm familiar with! (he mustve heard a lot of kotegiri's songs already.)

I love how kasen and nikkari have this exchange between them, where nikkari consistently sees right through kasen and his discomfort and frankly cuts right to the point. nikkari’s role here is to act as a foil of sorts to kasen.

I feel like. kotegiri and shishiou bring the much needed light-heartedness to this unit. tsurumaru, koga, mutsu and horikawa did that in iden but in kiden we’ve got like. more somber characters havent we. like seriously in any other setting I wouldnt imagine characters like kasen and nikkari doing an enthusiastic group shout . (kikkou looks at chougi bc hes the only one not doing it lol. and i think nikkari also gestures to chougi to go along w it

so the farmers mention that katō kiyomasa was defeated and bc of that the christians made kumamoto-jo their hideout. looked him up and....this guy was absolutely brutal towards them....stabbing pregnant christian women and cutting off their children's heads. making kumamoto castle a christian place feels like the ultimate fuck you to kato kiyomasa.

seeing kasen give out instructions feels so..........and everyone looking at him. thats his unit. thats his daisanbutai. thats their captain. and hes such a trustworthy captain <3

the reason why nikkari’s so set on poking kasen about his ‘mukashinajimi’ is definitely bc kasen is mysteriously reluctant about to bring it up (shinpaishite iru yo). in kahakugeki kasen begins to say kokindenjunotachi’s name in the first scene when nikkari cuts in and i wish theyd have kept that little bit in kiden. i think kasen......definitely didnt want to face his past. ive said enough abt that in well...a lot of posts. but also, i think he was also a little fearfulof what meeting old friends would mean. itd be too many coincidences, wouldnt it

it just occurred to me that tadaoki, most definitely, like in giden, thought kasen was a geisha just standing in the middle of his way. just like that. thats why hes like ???????????

kotegiri’s wavering confusion at the sight of tadaoki........i love how touken danshi retain their former master’s bonds and feelings toward the people in their lives. in a rudimentary sort of way kote must have felt like he was looking at his father.

well. can you really blame tadaoki for wanting to kill gracia? actually no this isnt really a story about who bears the blame. if you try to search for moral validity in this play youre going to spend eternity here. its simply a story about desire. in kidens case, gracia gaining something meant making tadaoki lose something, namely his wealth, title, lands, perhaps even sanity. and because of that he hates her. but because of his memories he also loves her. and thats the central conflict of his character.

like ive always thought: in tkrb there is rarely black and white morality, what they define as ‘good’ or ‘bad’ depends upon whether they can carry out their orders and protect history, and thats also apparent in a few later scenes. its the fact that the swords are drawn from so many different stories (+ also the fact that modern morality has no business being applied to the people of yore. also re: the oda swords’ different views on oda nobunaga. hasebe hates the way he did things, but yagen thinks it was fitting for a man of that period) ok ive derailed enough lets go back to the play !

right before meeting him, a strong wind blows over kasen and nikkari . personally i think that “wind” that notoriously blows in some scenes is a sort of euphemism for kokindenjunotachi -> in the keichou kumamoto chousa in the game he tells us to call him kaze at first. ofc, this is just a speculation but it ties in with later scenes too so bear w me

i love how kokin straight up lies to them ‘i called you so we could recite poems’ kasen is right to see through his bullshit jkdsnvjk. still, i think kokin was sly to have waited until he was sure they were trustworthy and strong enough to handle the mission to formally tell them the details of what happened.

this little exchange between kokin and kasen is my favourite bc it says a lot without many words. its almost like a fight between siblings but not exactly, kokin has this emotional distance that kasen cant get through to. id liken it more to a father-and-son thing. the son never being able to understand his father is such a famous trope isnt it? thats whats happening here. kokin’s got something up his sleeve and kasen is dissatisfied bc he cant guess what it is and why kokin’s keeping it from them.

this scene is significant in so many ways 1) we dont have enough scenes in tkrb where touken danshi are subtly given the position of unbending, ruthless, unnegotiable villains. 2) it reiterates what we already know: that protecting history is a touken danshi’s instinct. 3) it makes a distinction between the concepts of ‘instinct’ and ‘justice’ 4) kikkou likes to wave at people 5) chougi is the more passionate one, kikkou the cooler, level-headed one.

kasen has this air of resignation as he recites the origin of his name. i feel like shaking him and saying NOOOOOOO cant you see nobody thinks those 36 dead people were your fault?? youre respected and loved just as you are!

God. Isn’t it ironic how jizou prays to his god so that he can preserve gracia’s connection to her god? (note: in kahakugeki he only used one hand for this line, in kiden he uses both)

Hmmm aren’t flowers ephemeral and fragile? I understand where jizou’s coming from, heck my guess for what he’d call her was also a flower, and why kokin calls her a blossom of the Hosokawa, but I cant help but wonder if that’s a way to simply emphasize her weakness and inability to live as she liked, having her life mostly dictated by the men around her. Tadaoki’s the only one who calls her a snake, capable of biting back. The same snake that threw humanity into sin. Ironically enough it’s the person who loved/hated her that could understand her. But then again, its tadaoki’s heart inside jizou that’s also calling her a flower. Honestly she can (and does) symbolize both.

The reason im so glad they paired up Kasen and Nikkari is bc both of them are haunted by the sin of what they killed, and seeing them get along so well, like they know each others intricacies, what the other is thinking, its like a genuine bond.

Ok and now one of the most emotionally charged scenes ever………..

hmmm how to put this simply. it’d be easy to leave it as simply ‘straight married couple argument’ but it begs a more deeper nuance than that. lets see. gracia and tadaoki meet for the first time in what is probably, a long time. all this time tadaoki was so worked about hating her and wanting to kill her and yet his first instinct is to let out all his pent up feelings and.....cling to her........ ‘why did we become this way?’ ..........even though they loved each other and were married for over 20 years, held on even through akechi mitsuhide’s betrayal, tama’s conversion. ….how were they reduced to this? Its precisely because of that bond that gracia asked him to kill her, and precisely because of that bond that tadaoki couldn’t. its so so simple to say what we want to do but when the reality of the situation catches up, can we really stay the same?

and tadaoki’s last words to her were literally ‘my snake’

and thats her breaking point. shes literally driven to hysterics. and she didnt want to ascertain tadaoki’s heart....she simply wanted to be forgiven (the reasons that cut the deepest are the most simplest ones) for the sin of hating the person she loved.

but,,,,,,,as much as i loved thisscene, as much as i couldnt bear to watch it in consequent rewatches,,,,,this gracia isnt the real gracia.....she just isnt. the humans in altered timelines never are.

im really excited to go on a roadtrip with a friend of mine in a few weeks!! and ive been wearing a rotation of the same outfit of black jean board shorts, crop top, black platform vans and Various Chains and i think i could wear it everyday forever if im being honest <3 i think my fave cold drink is still arizona mango iced tea, its literally sooo so good. im not really watching/reading anything new, just old psych episodes a lot rn, and i’ve also been writing and drawing a lot more! which has been nice since i feel like ive been in a creative block for most of this year, so its been fun to do more art stuff lately :)

I've had big Fairune brain the past few days because I've been needing to finish the collection and I finally did. I found out there's a new one coming out this year and got excited until i saw it looks more like their games they made after Fairune which does not spark joy. I rememered having seen their game Kamiko on sale forever ago and liking the title screen art and then immediately nope'ing out when I saw what the game looked like. The old artist must've left or taken a dark path at some point because the Fairune 1 and 2 art is really really good, but then for Kamiko, Transiruby, and their slow life RPG thing I cant remember the name of, they switched to this generic early kickstarter era indie pixel art thing where the sprites legs are one pixel wide and they dont have enough frames of animation for how detailed they are and its just not great. Regardless, Kamiko is on sale on switch for $1.99 right now and I had 192 gold coins, so I bought it for 7 cents. I havent played much but uh, I wish that new Fairune was like the old ones lets just say that

I'm beginning to absolutely fucking love the PC88. The games EGG Console put out are all so fucked and jank but they arent unfun to play like bad NES or Genesis games. Silpheed is legitimately good, I'm talking more about Hydlide and Relics. I mention this because what made me play Fairune was that Hydlide wasnt on the switch lol. But I also just watched a video on Xanadu and like man. Like I dont think games should be that anti-player but literally zero games are released today that have that energy. Like imagine if the Marvelous guys were still making games like Chulip and Moon. Where theyre unbelievably charming and deep but they also fucking hate you and if you dont know all the enemies despawn if you kill them 3 times the game becomes incompletable. I guess Dark Souls 2 was like that

Anyways its my partners birthday tomorrow (cuz I havent slept yet tomorrow means friday) and were going to da zoo baybee, during a massive covid surge baybee, with non refundable tickets and N95s in our hands baybeeee. The event were going to starts late tho so I'll be fine on sleep. Lately I've been being a better employee and getting into work earlier, and actually doing my job for 7 hours than leaving and going to bed by 3am at the latest. Thats why most of my posts have been baffling or short, this shit sucks man. No time for Barony hat update. But I'm not working any extra days this weekend so i'm gonna eat all the hats that game has to offer soon
