“Queen of the Sky” is the story of the relationship and mutual respect between a woman and a peregrine falcon. Jackie Morris watched from the sidelines as her friend Ffion rescues an ill falcon and nurses her back to health.

A story of love, wildness, and the power of nature. Jackie Morris paints a beautiful picture, metaphorically and physically, of this gracious dynamic that she got to witness. She is very lyrical in her writing and shows us the beauty of wild things. She also reminds us that there is no ownership of nature, but needs to be a respect. I loved this short book. Reminded me a lot of Helen MacDonald’s “H is for Hawk”.

Might be writing a JackieShauna Winter Soldier AU because I saw it on X.

Basically the premise is that Jackie is Captain America, she was chosen because she’s influential. That makes Shauna as Bucky, she basically joined the army because Jeff proposed to Jackie. But when Jackie found out, she ditched Jeff to join Shauna.

So anyways, we have Jackie as Cap, Shauna as Bucky. I’m including Natalie as Black Widow aka she’s gonna be like Yelena in this, Lottie as Kate Bishop/Hawkeye because I’m making Bishova happen in this and Lottie has some of Kate’s traits.

I’m having Taissa be Sam Wilson/ Falcon and Van will be Maria Hill. Ben will be Nick Fury. I’m also having adding Misty to play agent 13.

But yeah, that’s the basic cast list.

hi! i'm really loving icarus, you're a wonderful writer! but i just had a quick question. i love the flock graphics, and they're super helpful! would it be possible for you to maybe list the species of birds for the main 'characters' of the story as well? you don't have to post example photos or anything crazy, but i think just a list like that would be helpful too. sometimes i forget who has what kind of wings, and i think having a list so i can google image the bird would be great.

Character Profile - Fester Addams

“[Uncle Fester] is incorrigible and, except for the good nature of the family and the ignorance of the police, would ordinarily be under lock and key. The complexion, like [that of] Morticia, is dead white, the eyes are pig-like and deeply imbedded, circled unhealthily in black - no teeth and absolutely hairless. He likes to fish but usually employs dynamite or any other unfair means. He keeps falcons on the roof which he uses for hunting. His one costume is a black greatcoat with an enormous collar - summer and winter. He is fat with pudgy little hands and feet.” - Chas Addams

We’ve already gone over the fact that Charles Addams did not fashion Gomez after himself. He actually stated more than once that Fester was “like me - or how I feel I look - with a bit more hair.” Fester was sometimes pictured with the family, but more often alone, just being a weird creep. Perhaps Charles Addams, with his dark sense of humor, saw himself as a weird creep, and saw Fester as his avatar.

Charles Addams never specified how Fester was related to the rest of the family. In the descriptions he wrote for the producers as the show was in development in 1963, he didn’t even say whether Gomez and Morticia were married, or what their last name was. I’m not sure whether he was even aware the TV family was being named after him, but more on that in the Grandmama post.

The show itself doesn’t really make it clear right away where Fester fits in the family tree. Most of the family members refer to him as “Uncle Fester”. Gomez explicitly says, “He’s my uncle” more than once. Early in the second season, Gomez and Morticia celebrate their 13th wedding anniversary and tell everyone the story of how they met. In the flashbacks, Fester is Morticia’s uncle, brother to her mother. The actor who played him, Jackie Coogan, was about 16 years older than the actors who played Gomez and Morticia, so it could make sense that he was a generation older.

As the first actor to play the character, Coogan got to pick Fester’s voice and mannerisms, which have endured for the most part in all following iterations. He has a nasal voice and goofy manner. Even at his most menacing, there’s an aura of slapstick to him, as if all three Stooges were reincarnated simultaneously in him.

The 60s TV show made great use of those trick light bulbs you can still buy today to demonstrate Fester’s magic power of generating electricity. This seems to have been created just for the show, and it’s commented on many times. Gomez relies on Fester to power several small appliances around the house, and they consult a doctor when his electrical capacity wanes. It also manifests as electromagnetism, allowing him at one point to attract a metallic paperweight to his hand. In the 1991 movie, a bolt of lightning allows Fester to regain both his memory and his electrical ability. In the Netflix series, he demonstrates this ability for dramatic effect and to save a life.

In the sitcom, Fester spends a lot of his time in the family’s “playroom”, also known as the dungeon. He naps on the bed of nails, sometimes with concrete bricks as a pillow. He gleefully offers the iron maiden as a place for guests to chill out. He frequently uses a press to alleviate his chronic headaches. (Not a completely unfounded treatment. I sometimes wear a tight hat for mine, and it works!) The original comics depicted torture equipment, and the family’s love for these things endured beyond the sitcom. I wouldn’t be surprised to see a similar playroom if some of the action in season 2 of Wednesday takes place in the mansion.

Another thing that comes up often in the sitcom is Fester’s search for love. Many times, he has a pen pal (how to catfish people before the internet) or tries to find a date in some other way. This is an uphill battle for him, due to his appearance and lifestyle. While Gomez is ridiculously wealthy, that doesn’t seem to extend to the rest of the family. Fester is living there rent-free, and doesn’t have a job.

In the 1991 movie, The Addams Family, Fester is Gomez’s older brother and therefore heir to the family fortune, and he’s manipulated into taking over the mansion and kicking the rest of the family out. Of course, there’s a happy ending, just like in a sitcom. In the sequel, Fester’s romance is central to the plot, and once again he’s manipulated. But his best match is someone just like him. Similarly, in the 2019 animated film, he ends up with someone who is off-putting to everyone else.

When Fester shows up in Wednesday, we only learn a little about him. He has the same nasal voice, wardrobe, and electrical ability. In this story, he’s a criminal on the run, a former mental patient, and proud of both. He mentions that he can crack a safe (something the sitcom version did back in the 60s), but Thing does it instead. He drinks a bottle of ketchup and tries to eat some bees, but Wednesday stops him. In that one episode, he provides enough information about himself and his past to potentially make some people want more.

It appears that Netflix is working on a spin-off series based on Fester, but if they’re smart it won’t be based on Fred Armison’s version of the character. He certainly did a fine job, but most of what made Wednesday successful was the age of the characters and the school setting of the series. I think that if they want to make a successful spin-off about Fester, they’ll focus on some earlier part of his life, possibly even the time when Gomez and Morticia were in Nevermore and he “dropped in” on them, “usually with a knife between [his] teeth.”

Shun Skywalker

Has said that if he ever lost his mask, not just Shun Skywalker but Shun Watanabe would cease to exist (that he would stop wrestling all together – but let me stress this, Shun Skywalker is not a man you should trust at all, he lies a lot).

When I say ‘odd’ I mean he used to wear a very bright green bodysuit and mask (known to fans as the frog suit) and would startle his opponents by doing this weird arms out pose and yelling “SKYWALK!” He also used to walk and stand in a weird way, which you might think was just how he is, and that it’s rude of me to mention this, but it was an intentional decision as it has returned alongside the bodysuit in his latest run as top nutcase of the promotion.

He may have seemed like he was a normal dude during his time as the leader of Masquerade until the Mascara Contra Mascara match of 2021, but it’s hard to ignore how Masquerade’s wore Venetian masks (to disguise their true selves) and performed an unnaturally perfect group entrance. This all being Shun’s creative decisions.

An analysis of Shun Skywalker vs Jason Lee from 2022

By him acting like a cult leader I mean he’s manipulative, possessive, toxic, hypocritical, eccentric and loud.

Shun Skywalker is not the straightest man on the roster, and I swear I’m not mentioning this because of my own preferences when it comes to what I like in my wrestling. This is a legitimately significant element to his character that you need to know about. The most obvious example of this is his relationship with Jason, which can be read as an abusive romantic relationship. This is merely a reading and not explicitly canon, but it certainly feels canon given the amount of support this reading has been given. This includes: Kzy on commentary comparing Shun’s behaviour to an ex-boyfriend showing up at their ex-girlfriend’s place of work just to “check up on them”, Strong Machine J straight up saying on commentary “ladies, don’t date a man like Shun Skywalker”, Jae on English commentary consistently making similar comparisons and even an article on Yahoo! News reading “Jason Lee breaks free from his deranged ex-boyfriend to join Natural Vibes”. Shun himself regularly uses romantic language and songs when talking or posting about Jason. Back before Jason returned to him, he would talk about how even though Jason had “broke his heart” he only loves him more and knows Jason will come back to him eventually, which he did. Jason is not the only man he’s made these sorts of advances towards, his most notable other target being Jacky Kamei. At a contract signing once, Shun said that he wanted to run away with Jason and Kamei and get married to them. He has a ‘type’ of man he likes to go after: cute face, deep thinker when it comes to their wrestling, pleasant but also capable of being malicious. This could be seen with his targeting of Yuki Ueno at All Together.

For the longest time he was billed at much smaller than he weighs, assumedly because every time they tried to weigh him, he just teleported away. So, he was 90 kg up until Dead or Alive 2024 where he was billed at 100 kg.

Has been compared to a variety of different animals throughout his career, from a falcon to a jellyfish to a goat and even a mosquito.

Yes, he pads his ass big time. I assume it’s because he lands on his butt for a lot of his moves. When you take off all the padding, he still has an impressive ass though…not that I would know or anything hahahaha-

Everyone in Natural Vibes really seemed to love Jason, all having a soft spot for him. He formed the dynamic trio J.J.J with Jacky Kamei and Strong Machine J.

As previously mentioned, he was a part of Kung Fu Masters, but has since said he never wanted to be in the "dumb comedy unit" and hated every moment of it.

anyways, to answer your question:

laura lee’s faith remains her anchor amidst the horror of the war. she remembered staring up at the angels on the stained glass windows in church as a little girl. it was their wings that fascinated her the most - what would it be like, she’d ask herself, to go to heaven, to be so close to god ? well, god works in mysterious ways. her question is answered when she morphs a peregrine falcon for the first time and she learns what it’s like to touch heaven for herself. she knows it’s a little strange, but she likes to go through her litanies while she rides the updraft winds. maybe being closer to heaven will mean god has a better chance of hearing her prayers.

shauna’s mother worried that jackie’s disappearance and presumed death would hit her even harder than the rough and messy separation from her father. but surprisingly, she seems to be alright. she spends an awful lot of time doting on the pet rabbit she adopted shortly after jackie went missing, but shauna’s mom doesn’t think anything of it.

lottie’s trying so hard. but it’s not like she can plonk on her psychiatrist’s couch and say “doc, can you up my meds? being the commander of earth’s only hope against utter destruction is kind of taking a toll on me.” she tries to be the lottie matthews everyone expects her to be. but she also throws more parties, smokes more cigarettes, steals more shitty clothes from tj maxx. she’s trying, she really is.

Something went wrong

Things didn't work out, and Jackie tried to escape. She didn't mind leaving her companions behind. Her life was more important. The explosion hit her before she finished transforming into a peregrine falcon, and like her companions, she was transformed into a creature that had not been seen for a long time. Crawling out of the giant crater resulting from her experiment, Jackie/Cora climbed out. She was no longer a beautiful young woman. It was a corruption of itself. Whose powers were preserved and so were her memories (being transformed at the time of the incident saved her from forgetting herself)But at that moment the only thing she felt was hunger. Hunger for peculiar flesh.
