I’d just like to point out that Kim sticks with the case no matter how badly Harry treats him, because he knows innocent people could die or get hurt if he just left Harry to solve the case on his own. Like he wouldn’t just sit around all day and not do his job just because Harry said he was ‘cramping his style’

I have no idea what people see in Jean. All I see is that he's horrible and reminds me of my abuser.

Kevin Day isn't actually a coward, Neil and Andrew just have very different ideas of what it means to be brave. Kevin is a survivor. He spent most of his formative years walking a middle ground of being useful but not so much that he showed riko up. He had every reason to be afraid of riko. He was the only one that truly understood what riko was capable of aside from Jean. Neil and Andrew are fighters, they are all or nothing types, they don't understand how someone could walk a middle ground just for something that resembles safety when they fought so hard to not give in to threats until it threatened someone they care about and almost killed themselves in the process. Kevin didn't even know he was ALLOWED to fight back because that was never an option. Leaving the only life he's ever known was so much braver than anyone gives him credit for. It isn't until he has something to fight for and is given permission (not just by the moriyama's and Neil but by himself) to be his own person for the first time that he is able to defy his abusers.
It's not cowardly to do what you can to stay safe. Not everyone has Andrew and Neil's blatant disregard for their own personal safety. Being afraid of pain and death is perfectly reasonable.

god okay disco elysium fans try and understand the consequences of actions challenge. jean is a dick but also he's like that... for a reason. kim has literally only just met harry he has no frame of reference for the past and NEITHER DOES THE PLAYER. Jean's been with harry since he was sober. he's seen the downfall. harry's gone clean before and all that happens is he fell in again. none of yall have had to be friends with an addict and it shows. it's constant. its painful. eventually compassion fatigue. you just can't care like you used to because every single time you offered a hand it got bit. sunk cost fallacy forces you to stay but its like poison. toxic, eating away at you, an albatross. you can't leave him but you can't live with him. you know hes hurting so so bad but the hurt spills from his overflowing heart into anger and its directed at you.
anyway td;lr jean's got good reason for giving up on harry, martinase was just his final straw. its not just "ough you shouted at me while being mentally ill once and now im mad :(" its "i have watched you systematically destroy yourself from the inside out. you are burning alive and every time i try to help you i get burnt. you have embraced the flames at this point and i don't know how else to help anymore. you arent who i used to know."
EXCEPT HE DOESN'T EVEN DO THAT BECAUSE HE CAME BACK. he came back literally as soon as the waterlock got fixed. he still fucking cares.

i have this post in my drafts about how people only like acknowledging mental illness or disability when they think it's funny (didnt post because im scared and its also not through the lens of fiction lol) but that just reminds me of jean a lot, like he loves to call harry insane, a drunk, a bum, shitkid, a psycho, a cretin when he means to demean him, but then will refuse to help harry because he says he's lying about the amnesia (or being sober if you choose to be sober) and that it's actually all his fault and a moral failure to be mentally ill and an addict

(Idk if I should put a content warning but I’m going to just to be safe for; vague mentions of SA. Also this is just how I personally feel about dramione, ship whatever you want)
I will now and forever be a dramione hater, I hate how certain dramione shippers perceive Hermione.
Hermione “brightest witch of her age” Granger would NOT fall head over heels for the guy who bullied her and called her a slur for six years. Also, in what WORLD would Draco ever feel that way about Hermione? Draco was a spoilt little brat who hated muggleborns and thought they were subserviant to purebloods, it wasn’t a “playground crush”, he felt Hermione was beneath him(and NOT beneath him in the way that you guys try to push in fanfics)
Also, ALSO, if the only way you can make Draco a likable love interest is to bash Ron, maybe he’s just a bad love interest.
Don’t even get me STARTED on how heavily sexualized Hermione is sometimes, Jesus Christ it’s like her whole personality is just being a glory hole for Draco at any time of the day it’s GROSS, on that note the amount of SA, specifically of Hermione whether it be from Draco or a third character just to make Draco save her and be a cool good guy, which is in an abundance of dramione’s media is so gross. You give Draco the barest minimum of character development, sometimes not even that, then make Hermione basically just an one dimensional hole with no other characteristics except her sexual prowess, and that’s not saying you can’t make Hermione be comfortable with her sexuality, that’s great, but holy shit is that all she is, is that all the development she gets as a character in your mind??
To make it even worse, Draco is sometimes STILL a piece of shit to her, news flash guys “mudblood” isn’t a silly little insult in the Harry Potter world, it’s a derogatory slur!
It’s not even enemies to lovers! At all! Drarry is enemies to lovers! Dramione is just bully x bullied, oppressed x oppressor at the worst.
Thank you for coming to my ted talk ig, stan drarry and romione

Jeremy/the trojans will have to be extra nice to Jean on twitter 🥲 teach him how to use twitter search or something. Or do that “this is a jean moreau appreciation tweet 😊” thing lol
Jeremy is gonna have to post a “20 reasons why we love Jean Moreau” thread that the trojans all start adding to and it ends up at like…100 tweets. That’d be cute as hell

See the difference between Jean and Harry is that Harry actually tries. Actually gives a shit about the world around him. Even the worst versions of Harry ‘don’t want to be this kind of animal anymore.’ Even the worst versions of Harry engage with the community he’s supposed to be protecting (time literally doesn’t pass unless you talk to people, even if you don’t solve the case he’s still actually doing shit instead of sitting around)
Jean does not give a shit. He sits around and doesn’t do his job (again: he doesn’t even help get the body out of the tree if asked!) and he makes no effort to do anything even resembling helping anyone. People like to say that there’s no way he could’ve known the tribunal would be that night, but there is a way- he could’ve *helped with the fucking case*. Even just talking to Joyce would’ve let them know it’s a matter of days before things blow up
Harry knows he’s flawed. He doesn’t always do anything useful with that information, but I still can’t help but find him more likable than Jean who’s like ‘oh I’m clinically depressed and you told me to fuck off so now I have no responsibilities and everything is someone else’s fault and I’m going to yell at you about how horrible a person you are even though i don’t even *try* to be a good person’

I've never seen a picture of Stoker clean shaven (and one time I remember a report about people being intimidated by him for being very tall and all red-bearded while staring unmoving at a coast during holiday) is it because he's not English?
No, he just wasn't fashionable. It was the facial hair equivalent of being the guy in 2024 who's still wearing skinny jeans.
Per this BBC article, in the middle of the 19th century a full beard became fashionable because of the Crimean War. Crimean temperatures were so cold, and it wasn't possible to get soap, so soldiers didn't shave - so returning troops all had full beards, and beards became associated with heroism. But things go in and out of fashion:
By the end of the 1880s, fashionable men in London were returning to their barbers for a daily shave. The beard and full whiskers were now considered the domain of the conservative, older generation.
I suppose you could read something into Bram Stoker's preference for a beard. But maybe he just had a weak chin.

okay this is exactly why we can't just let people read the wiki and think that's enough, and that they don't need to actually read the comics being summarized!!! THIS IS NOT WHAT HAPPENED IN THOSE BOOKS OMFGGG you're literally just rewriting history to make jean paul look better. he did not "develop a sort of big brother type of relationship with her" you LIAR he was creeping on her! he straight up was like "can you take off your mask? omg you have a nice face..." and got actually angry at babs for gifting cass perfume saying "SHE SMELLS GOOD ALREADY!!!"

Everybody thinks Jean was a monster, but she was a girl overwhelmed with the strength of her powers and neither Charles nor Erik tried to help her learn to control it; they just wanted to control her. In her final moments she begged Logan to end her life so she wouldn’t be taken over by the Phoenix and I’m SICK of everyone villainizing her for being the Phoenix when the grown men she’s trusted were using her as this ‘super mutant’ that would strengthen either side. Yes she was a little fucked up, yes she did some bad things, but Jean Grey was not always that.
