The Pizza Delivery Girl's Survival Guide to Gotham City Update
Pairing: Jason Todd x Reader
Newest chapter
AO3 Link
Summary:
People who lived outside of Gotham City would most often think of it in terms of its heroes and villains. About Batman and Robin, Joker and Harley Quinn.
People who actually live in Gotham City would only think of one thing: surviving.
Who cares about the people in costumes when your house has been bombed for the fifth time, or your wife has been taken hostage just because she worked in a bank?
Or, in your case, when you have to make regular deliveries to places where even Batman feared to tread?
Because let's face it. In a world full of superheroes and costumed villains, the real heroes are the ones who make sure that people get their pizzas in forty-five minutes or less.
Chapter Preview:
You paused on the bridge that hung high above the Burrow, and for the first time in your life, you felt a terror was so great that it made your throat close.
Gotham City had never looked so beautiful. From such a height, the burning neon lights looked like stars.
But above your head, the sky looked pitch black. It made you think of the bodies that would sometimes wash up on Gotham Bay’s shores, black and bloated with rot. It made you think of  the shadows of inmates in the asylum, their voices like the skittering of insects, rising and falling as you passed them by.
It made you think of the night Timothy Young died, and you wondered that if, back then, there had been light enough that he saw the shadow of a monster fall over him.
You wondered if he had time to understand what was happening, before he started against the concrete below. And then decided decided that it didn’t matter: you would understand If Francine Langstrom came for you, you would know.
You would understand what was happening to you before you hit the ground.
Your skull splitting open, the pink-grey ropes of your brain scattering on the concrete. And the thousand pictures that follow. Your death turned into a spectacle and a profit.
Just like Tim Young’s.
The thought made you freeze. You were standing in front of one of the many wooden bridges that connected the rooftops of abandoned buildings. The Burrow’s infamous floating night market. Set up by dusk and torn down by dawn, only to rise up again the next night, the floating night market was one of the Burrow’s main attractions. A bustling collection of kiosks made out of cheap plywood and tarpaulin, it was said that you could find anything there, so long as you didn’t ask too many questions: cheap phones, likely stolen from someone off the street, fake licenses, a sample of Bane’s Venom for impatient bodybuilders. It was set high up in the air, amidst the rooftops of many abandoned buildings, connected by a series of rickety wooden bridges.
But now the rooftops were empty. The bridges were falling apart, its wooden planks dangling precariously from their ropes. The empty kiosks had been left to rot in the constant rain. You could even see some of the abandoned merchandise, left behind  in people’s haste to pack up: an old, broken phone, children’s toys hanging forlornly on strings, obviously meant to be prizes in a game, now swelling with rainwater. Mold grew on their cotton bodies like new fur.
Timothy Young’s death had transformed the Burrows’ floating night market into a ghost town. The thought made you feel a little lonely, picking through the bones of a dead market, looking to find a monster.
Francine, The voice in your head sounded like Professor Langstrom’s. Her name is Francine Langstrom.
The buzz of static cut through your thoughts as cleanly as a falling blade. And then Jason’s voice was in your ear.
“Last chance to back out of this.”
His voice was rough, even taking into account the poor connection and the voice modulators he used. Maybe he was scared, too. The thought eased you somewhat, to know that you were not alone.
Even through the poor connection, you could hear the strain in his voice. You cast a glance at the direction where he was supposed to be, tried to look for even a hint of him: the faint glow of his helmet, the hulking figure of his silhouette. But you found no sign of him. Still, knowing that he was there made you feel better.
You raised a hand and hoped that he would not see the way your fingers trembled.
And waved.

Okay, I saw this tweet about character’s outfits from preview.
And that’s interesting. Ray and Mew do wear couple outfits. But their Joker and Harley are from different cinematic universes.
Tumblr media
In fact, Ray’s Joker never had his Harley. His perfect relationship was an illusion.
Tumblr media
While Mew’s Harley got better, said “fuck men” and went to live her happy life.
Does this show tries to tell us something or it’s just me being paranoid over some costumes?

In the preview of next episode Mew and Ray are wearing a couple costume. But I don’t think this is a ‘couples costume’.
Yes they are Harley Quinn and The Joker but the outfit they are wearing are from different cinematic universes.
This joker is a story about a man with a lot of mental illness and trauma who people saw as villain.
Tumblr media
While this Harley Quinn is a movie about a Harley who has been deeply hurt by love. Who uses her ‘good girl’ aesthetic as a decoy to get what she wants.

This preview is ending me. Mew is drinking and doing "bad stuff" (Top failed to protect Mew and now he wishes he could protect Mew).
Tumblr media
There's a Halloween party and Mew is dressed as Harley Quinn and Ray as Joker! Damn. Serving looks.
Ray is being a little shit as usual.

Nick seems hung up on Boston but we finally get a new entry - Whoever Pappang is playing!!!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
And we have the police and drugs. Shit.

This part of the show we barely know about. We're in new territory and things can go South any moment.

I Didn’t Like Joker 2 (Spoilers Mentioned)
Hey guys. I’ve wanted to post my thoughts on Joker 2. I’m still having trouble putting all my thoughts together especially since I’m really tired, so bear with me. First off before I start my rant, I just want to say to those of you that enjoyed the movie, that’s fine. I’m not trying to take that away from you. Nor I’m I telling you you’re wrong for liking it. You can like whatever you want. That being said, I didn’t like it all. I found it to be really upsetting. I have a lot of similar feelings that other people who didn’t like it have, so I’m probably going to come off as parroting points that people have expressed. But I really do feel the same way.
So when I hear people say, people didn’t want to see Arthur, they wanted to see Joker, yeah, in my case they’re not entirely wrong. Listen, I knew this isn’t supposed to be Clown Prince of Crime Joker. I knew it’s a different take on the character. I didn’t necessarily need to see him going up against Batman. I’m okay with different takes on the Joker. That’s what makes this Joker special. I found him to be unique and his story compelling. If they were going to make a sequel, I wanted to see more of this Joker. I wanted to see more of a continuation of where the first movie left off. But as the previews came out, I realized I might not be getting that. I was still willing to give it a chance. I thought maybe this could be a unique take on the Joker and Harley relationship. Instead I felt like I got slapped in the face and curb stomped.
The sequel basically retcons Arthur’s whole transformation into the Joker. Like, I’m sorry, am I supposed to forget the final scene in the first movie? It’s never mentioned. It was heavily implied he killed the psychiatrist in cold blood, but I guess that guy never existed? So we’re back to Arthur being like he was at the beginning of the first movie. Okay…still gonna see what happens. At least he might get to have some people in his life, like Harley or make friends with some inmates and have some happiness? Nope.
Arthur just gets used and abused by everyone around him and his life is hell. He doesn’t get to have any happiness. Sure it happened in the first movie, but it had the narrative pay off of Arthur becoming Joker and the people who treated him badly getting their comeuppance. Here we’re just watching Arthur’s and essentially Joker’s whole story being destroyed, and him having his dignity taken from him. There’s one scene where we get some of Joker with Gary. I loved it but then it’s completely undercut later on. Also like I said earlier, the Joker at the very end of the first movie wouldn’t have cared that he ruined Gary’s life. At that point, he was completely a monster who didn’t care whether someone was good or bad. He basically gave up on everyone and society and said “Fine, they want a monster? I’ll give them a monster.” The first movie was all about how a person can become a monster from a society without empathy. This movie completely undid all that.
After a little bit of Joker comes out in the scene with Gary, and Joker talking shit about the guards in Arkham, when Arthur is taken back to Arkham, the guards sexually assault him. It’s so unnecessary and really disturbing and upsetting. It didn’t need to be in the movie. At this point Arthur decides he doesn’t want to be Joker anymore, that there was never a Joker, just him. What the fuck, that just shits all over the first movie then. Then at the end of the movie, Arthur gets killed by some random guy who doesn’t even have a name. So basically fuck me and the rest of us who found Arthur to be an interesting character and this Joker’s story compelling. The guy at the end of the first movie who killed a psychiatrist in cold blood? Never existed. He’s a nobody.
It really does feel like this movie was made out of spite for DC fans or really anyone who enjoyed the first movie and resonated with it. I don’t mean to parrot what other people have said, but it does feel like they set out to destroy everything the first movie built up. I guess the message was we shouldn’t like the Joker because he’s bad or whatever. Okay, but like, it’s too late. People liked this take on the character and his story. What, were a few edgelords like “Yeah I feel like Arthur does and I think he’s a hero and I wanna be like him.” Or something? Is that really what Todd and crew took away from people who said they empathized with Arthur and resonated with his story? That they idolized the Joker and wanted be like him? No one was saying that. People can empathize with a villain and not condone their actions.
I guess the joke was on me and a lot of other people the entire time. We got clowned. We had all these theories about the guy in Arkham at the end of the first movie. We wondered who he was or if Arthur ever even existed and the whole story was made up by the Joker to get sympathy from the audience. Turns out it doesn’t matter because that guy never existed and Arthur is nobody. I’m not gonna let it ruin the first movie. I hate this movie. I wish we never got a sequel. Once again, if you like this movie, more power to you. I’m gonna pretend it doesn’t exist.

Batman: Caped Crusader S1 Review
Normally not a guy I write a whole lot about, but I finished watching S1 last night and decided I would share my thoughts.
Tumblr media
Cutting right to the chase I found this mediocre. Trapped in the shadow of it's elder brother it fails at living up to being a spiritual successor, or charting it's own path. Changes made feel like token efforts done simply for changes sake, but with the exception of Harley, frequently feel like downgrades from what BTAS did. Rapid fire thoughts:
Pilot was easily the worst episode even though I was won over on Ricci's Penguin on account of her great performance
Clayface episode was good, no surprise considering Rucka wrote it, and struck me as a preview for what Reeves may have planned for his Batman sequel given the rumors Clayface will appear in that
Dug the Catwoman episode, but it’s hurt by how they basically did Golden Age Catwoman in BTAS. Nothing new here, Selina is a wealthy heiress like in BTAS who has a one sided romantic interest in Batman. Sure her BTAS incarnation was an animal rights activist but the foundation is the same. Given Brubaker's involvement I wish they had gone with her Post Crisis origin of being poor and stealing to survive. Least she loses her money by the end, maybe they’ll go in a different direction with her. Good idea to do the mandatory origin here, least it keeps the clichés all in one episode. I did love the Catmobile!
Firebug was eh, don’t get what the point was in changing him other than to keep in line with the Golden Age aesthetic.
Harley Episode was good! Wasn’t sure how a Jokerless Harley would work but they did actually manage to keep her sympathetic nature, and make her feel like a legit threat. Her victims were scumbag billionaires which made me sympathize with her motives if not her methods. Knew moments before they did it that they were going to homage Harley's "death" in Batman Beyond: Return of the Joker, having Babs and Harley together was too tempting a target to pass up.
That was Papa Midnite in the Gentleman Ghost episode right? Cool deep cut, people were clamoring for Batman to show up in MAWS but Superman would be a better fit for this show than Batman would be for MAWS honestly. Reusing Fleschier Lois' design for one of the Gotham reporters got a chuckle out of me. Didn’t expect them to go with actual ghosts, that at least is a marked change from BTAS where everything had a “realistic” explanation.
Episode 7 had an… interesting moral. Didn’t expect anyone to make an episode in the year of our Lord 2024 about how the bleeding heart liberal (Babs) who opposes the system is wrong and the principled conservative who sees things in black and white (Gordon) is right. Especially not one with Rucka on the writing team.
Episode 8 was fine, since they included all the Robins except Tim I’m curious if Tim will end up being the one who becomes Robin (if anyone ever does). Otherwise I don’t get why Timm was not able to use Nocturne back during BTAS if this is what he wanted to do with her, she’s an energy vampire like Parasite. No blood. Maybe his old design was too horny for the censors? This Nocturna is clearly Wednesday Adams
Onomatopoeia doesn't work, his gimmick simply doesn't translate well outside of comics
Take on Two-Face here is inferior to BTAS. He’s not as interesting or sympathetic, I feel indifferent to him. They made him corrupt but didn’t do anything interesting with it, frankly it feels like a missed opportunity that they copied the DCAU approach where Harvey was friends with Bruce but never worked with Batman. Because this Harvey was corrupt, the friendship between Bruce and Harvey feels fake (and presumably given how cold this Bruce is, it was). Way to go would’ve been to either flip the reason Harvey gets scarred, and have some relative of an innocent he put away be the one to scar him, or have his corruption be a result of his and Batman’s failure to achieve meaningful results, with Harvey giving into despair before finding his courage again in the worst possible way. For that reason I didn’t find his death to be moving or emotionally impactful at all.
Arkham Asylum actually looking nice was a design choice I approved of. Makes sense that people would be assigned there or that it wouldn’t immediately be written off as an Asylum from Hell.
Why does Timm or whoever keeps pushing for him, love Rupert Thorne? Thorne is a boring bad guy, a generic mobster that Batman should crush with ease.
Tumblr media
When it comes to Batman himself I enjoyed his characterization, and the performance of Hamish Linklater.
They leaned into this Batman being a sociopath, his unsettling declaration to Alfred as a child that he was going to make the criminals pay, and ordering Alfred to help him was chilling. Every time Alfred tried to give him advice or protect him, this Batman reacted with either cold dismissal or outright anger. Made for a good difference from both the DCAU, where the two would trade quips and clearly had a warm relationship, and the mainline where it's been outright canonized that Bruce viewed Alfred as his second father.
Too bad it looks like they’re already moving towards a more traditional take on the relationship for S2. Would've enjoyed seeing this Batman remain cold and sociopathic and having to go up against the Joker
Enjoyed seeing how uncomfortable Batman was with talking to other people, he sucked at "comforting" Babs after Harley appeared to die. Even though he has the compassion DCAU Batman had, he's somehow worse at expressing it.
Linklater did a great job differentiating the two personalities vocally. Loved when Bruce was confronting Harvey in Arkham in the finale, and when Harvey slipped into his "Two-Face" voice, Bruce used his "Batman" voice in response. Lot of Conroy in Linklater's performance which is no knock against him.
Tumblr media
Since everyone is going to compare the two
Both are similar in a lot of ways: TCC puts a lot of focus on the supporting cast in the GCPD as does MAWS with the Daily Planet.
Lois and Babs basically serve as the deuteragonists of their respective shows.
Both include references to the wider DCU and poach villains from other heroes Rogues Galleries.
Both genderbend a villain and racebend a bunch of other characters.
Both do some dramatic changes to the villains in general, and the villains are generally the weakest part of the shows.
Both even take a lot from the DCAU, although TCC is more indebted to the DCAU than MAWS is.
Of the two though, I think MAWS is far superior. It’s got a stronger take on it’s lead, it’s got a stronger worldbuilding foundation, and the changes it makes feel like they have a purpose that feeds into the story of Krypton whereas TCC changes feels like token efforts to differentiate it from BTAS. Of the two TCC definitely got a bigger budget, especially in the fight scenes, but surprisingly there was some shoddy CGI there like what we see at times in MAWS.
I’m curious to find out which of the two ends up having the bigger impact on their respective characters. My hunch is MAWS will be more influential going forward, particularly on the Daily Planet crew.
Side note but it's ironic how everyone was doomposting about MAWS being a "Lois Lane show" when of the two it's CC who frequently ends up feeling like a GCPD show guest starring Batman. MAWS steadfastly puts Superman at the center of everything, whereas here the Gordons (Babs and Jim) feel more central to the show
Give it a C, it's a fine enough way to kill an afternoon if you're a Batman fan, but with all the Batman content out there I can't recommend it that highly. Next season we’ve got the Joker judging by the post season tease, which is probably going to be a fairly straightforward adaption of The Man Who Laughs given Brubaker is the head writer. If we get a Golden Age “serious” Joker that at least would spice things up. Hearing a Joker with a deep voice startled me I must admit.

Okay, having scrolled through these DC Go! previews:
They're clearly not in main continuity which is fine because I can ignore them if I don't like them. They might be divergences from WFA and webtoons RH:O, but not the exact same continuity.
HQIP I will not be reading any more of, but that's fine, because I rarely read Harley Quinn content anyway. I see timelinewise this is once again reset to "Harley just broke up with Joker" which...I feel is overdone as a default setting for her at this point? They've been over for multiple universe reboots at this point. (But as said, I don't follow Harley).
Looks like they're doing a Love Island style spoof with Harley heavily playing the ditz and Ivy as her reality check.
NBN: look. I'm honestly more interested in what the thought process was going into this comic, because part of me feels like this is a wild Devin Grayson + Bruce Jones mashup (with premise from Jones and setting from Grayson) and the rest of me is mildly concerned that the story is trying to premise "Dick finds himself and his interests outside the costume" through the lens of a stream of butt jokes and focusing on Dick's looks, which is often regarded by fans as part of what contributes to devaluing Dick's personality and hobbies outside of the costume.
Though seriously, were the people crying out for more Bruce Jones style content? My extremely unbiased (lol) recent poll points to no.
Honestly, NBN feels like someone's 20 year old canon divergence AU fic spun straight out of Devin Grayson's run. I can even name what scene they're building out from: it's the scene where Dick flips over the kitchen counter in Nightwing #86. Babs tells Dick he's acting immaturely, ignoring an injury and hiding from what long term incapacity could mean.
Which is certainly a choice to use as a premise for a whole new comic run, 20 years later, because the conversation in #86 leading into the coming break up is based on a lot of build up on page, while NBN skips over all of that context by...randomly throwing readers in with Babs going out the door.
(the way Babs is written in NBN also very much screams 'early 2000s breaking up characters for another ship')
I don't think these are going to be my thing. Which is fine; I'm not their planned audience for them.
They're both starting out with some MAJOR tonal differences between premise and story context however (Harley dealing with multiple credible death threats; Dick's relationship state being '3/4 of the way through the Blockbuster arc'), which feels wild to me for something that's supposed to be a super-accessible easy read.

TS2 CAS Clown CC Masterlist
I’ve been scouring forums, blog archives, Pinterest boards, etc. to piece together “clowncore for The Sims 2, and if anyone else is interested in the same aesthetic as me I’ve compiled this list to save you the same trouble!
I’ll probably continue adding to it over time, as I find more things or as new stuff gets shared. So consider it a permanent work in progress :P
This is also limited to CAS only, as tracking down circus build/buy is a whole other adventure lol (though you can find a lot at the 3t2 Database)
Under a read-more cause it got really long, and also if I add/change anything you’ll be able to see the most recent version.

Funplus has unveiled more information about DC: Dark Legion, an upcoming mobile strategy game set in the DC Universe. The game will feature some of DC's most iconic heroes and villains, including Batman, Superman, Wonder Woman, The Joker and Harley Quinn.
The game will see players engaged in a "global multiplayer battle" against Batman's evil counterpart, The Batman Who Laughs and his Dark Legion. Featuring an all-new story set in the DC Universe, the game will grant players power from the last Monitor as they try to save Prime Earth, joining forces with DC's greatest characters. More information about the game will follow throughout the rest of the year leading up to DC: Dark Legion's launch later in 2024.
Along with the Funplus cinematic trailer for the game, new image assets for DC: Dark Legion give fans an idea of the characters that will be included in the game and how the gameplay will work. In the battle to save the world, players will be able to collect many iconic DC heroes, with art showing Nightwing, The Flash, Shazam and more. DC's villains will also join the fight, with characters like The Joker, Harley Quinn, Black Adam, Lex Luthor, Bane and the Penguin expected to be a part of the roster.
Dark Legion Lets Fans Fight Evil on a "Cosmic Scale"
DC: Dark Legion is licensed by Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment on behalf of DC, and the game promises to let fans fight evil "on a cosmic scale with their favorite DC characters". The game features strategic combat, with players needing to build a squad of the right champions to overcome important battles.
Players will also be able to construct their own version of The Dark Knight's "Batcave", which will serve as their base of operations. Preview images also show a war room and the ability for fans to research and create new tech for their heroes. Resources in the game will allow players to level up their champions using the tech they created and other gear.
DC: Dark Legion is expected to launch later this year.

Story Update: The Pizza Delivery Girl's Survival Guide to Gotham City
Pairing: Jason Todd x Reader Updated chapter: Chapter 22: An Impossible Transformation Story Summary:
Preview:
Quiet, in Jason’s experience, was never a good thing. It usually meant that a crime was occuring: a lockpick carefully sliding into place, a hostage with a gun to their head, sweat beading on their skin, their screams pressed against the edges of their throat like broken glass.
Quiet was the asylum, and the way no one ever came for him.
Quiet was the dark, swallowing Jason’s screams.
In the lightless doorway of the building, Jason could almost see the flash of bone-white teeth, pulled tight into a familiar smile.
But then you gasped, a sharp, sudden sound that broke the silence, and for a moment, Jason felt as if he could breathe again. The darkness in the doorway was just darkness.
He wasn’t Robin anymore, and he wasn’t in the asylum.
He was the Red Hood, and he had promised to help you.
