Scores go from 1 to 7 and each judge have 10 per gala that they can decide how to use it. Like the best executed challenge, the most complete, the one they liked the most, etc.
There’s also a thing that can increase or decrease the score by 5 points if the jury consider they are not being fair, Can only be used once per season.
If anyone is interested, Flo got 3 points (1+1+1) and he was not happy about it.
Roberto: we only have 3, we have only left our podium. We have Ana Guerra (swiming suite), we have Jorge Lorenzo and we have Mariló Montero. Between them, there’s the winner (male or female) of this first gala of the 3rd season of El Desafío. Wish you luck
Ana: wish you luck
Roberto: let’s get to know the scores of... Jorge Lorenzo
Boris: very good Jorge, Jorge
Roberto: Jorge, we see Flo’s face (he confronted the jury because he thought it was a joke) after that face off you had. You did the same challenge and e got the minimum score of the jury
Jorge: He showed us hos best version in.. today
Flo: I relinquished so you wouldn’t be embarrassed/ridiculed, boy *everyone laughs*
Roberto: let’s remember Jorge Lorenzo’s time 1:32, points for the 3 MotoGP times world Champion
Someone: Very well *when 2+10+5 appears in the screen*
Roberto: God *surprised* 17, this means that you in 1st place at the moment Jorge Lorenzo
Jorge: Truly?
Roberto: leading the ranking. Evidently, Pilar your 10
Pilar: Yes my 10 because he did it perfectly and for me it looks something very complicated. He didn’t hesitate when he had to fight Flo, who also did very well7
Flo: Pilar has opinion
Jorge: Bravo Pilar. (I’m) surprised to be leading
Roberto: yeah but look, you have Pilar’s 10, you have Juan’s 2.
Jorge: Pilar saved me, if not I’ll be in half
Roberto: what do you think about Juan’s score?
Jorge: he will have his reason. Maybe being a rider, he expected (being) more fast. I screwed like a newbie by telling I did it in 55 seconds during practice
Juan: I think, I believe, that’s one of the keys. You are a World Champion, and I think a World Champion, I expect a lot more of a World Champion. In my opinion, if you could have done it in less time, you should have done it in less time. You settled with winning Flo, and for me settling is not a verb that goes with the challenge.
Pilar: I disagree.
Juan: evidently because probably you disagree because you gave him a a 10 and I gave him a 2
Pilar: of course
Juan: evidently
Pilar: but the strategy is very important. So does keep your energy until they needed
Jorge: Of course, I couldn't fail
Pilar: here you just needed that to win your adversary, so why do more
Juan: he, I believe that... you could have done it in less than 1 minute, simply that
Roberto: well that’s your score. Nontheless, you are the first. Do you want to say something Boris.
Boris: Roberto, yes look, Flo, don’t be an ass and move to the side.
The jury don’t need to justify their scores, only if they want! Santiago did not justify it.
So both Ana and Mariló ended up with 19 (2 points more than Jorge). In this situations, the jury had to choose between one or the other in a tablet and then see who got more scores. Mariló won 2vs1 and is currently the leader of ‘El Desafió’

Yesterday (november 11) all 16 participants of Benidorm Fest 2024 were revealed - the songs will be revealed on december 14th. I wanted to make this post talking about all the possible representants of Spain in ESC 2024, as a little intro to them and how their songs might sound like. As always, everything will be below the cut :)
ALMÁCOR
Tumblr media
Arturo Almarcha Corella, better known as Almácor (Villena, 26) is an urban artist that started his career in 2019. He has released an EP since then, and has collabed with artists like Henry Mendez or Chimbabala. This year he was nominated in the Best New Urban Artist in the Los 40 Music Awards. His most popular song is DE TO', and his last released song is Pop Tech.
ANGY FERNÁNDEZ
Tumblr media
Angy Fernández (Palma, 33) is a LEGEND and our very own emo princess, she's an icon. Her leap to fame was being the runner up in the first edition of Spanish X Factor, in 2007, but she became a phenomenon when she starred in iconic teen drama Física o Química (2008-2011) as Paula Blasco. She also released various albums and songs, like the hit and iconic emo bop Sola en el silencio. After the show she has appeared in various TV programs like Tu Cara Me Suena, and has continued making music as well as acting in theatre, cinema and TV shows. Her last released song is Dualidad.
DELLACRUZ
Tumblr media
Jorge de la Cruz Correa, better known as Dellacruz (Santa Cruz de Tenerife) is a Canarian urban pop singer that started his own singing career in 2019 after ample experience as a songwriter; he has written songs for artists such as Sergio Dalma, Xuso Jones, or Dvicio, among many others. LÉRICA
Tumblr media
Lérica is a duo composed of Tony Mateo (San Fernando, 29) and Juan Carlos Arauzo formed in 2015 that sings pop infused flamenco and urban music, and have collabed with very big artists like Belinda, Gente de Zona, Abraham Mateo (brother of Tony Mateo), Cali y el Dandee or Juan Magán. They have 14 platinum albums and 9 golden ones, and are right now the most listened to Spanish duo in terms of streams. Their most famous song is Flamenkito, and their latest released song is Un Rato pa Siempre.
MANTRA
Tumblr media
Mantra is a pop band made out of Carlos Marco (Alacant, 31), Paula Pérez and Charly Weinberg (Madrid, 25), born in 2020 when the three friends decided to start a project together. All three have been in the music industry for a long time; Carlos Marcos is the most-known of them, as he was part of the boyband Auryn (alongside Spain's representant in ESC 2021, Blas Cantó), who participated in the ESC 2011 preselection. They have an up-beat and positive attitude in their songs, and have released their first album in 2023. Their most popular song is No Te Esperaba, and their latest single is ¿Te Acuerdas o No?.
MARÍA PELÁE
Tumblr media
María Peláe (Málaga, 33) is an icon and a flamenco singer known for her witty and ironic lyrics, with a modern spin on traditional sounds. She started her career in 2016 after studying Anthropology and Social Work in university, and so her songs usually have a social message. In fact, in 2023 she was awarded the Rainbow Award by the Ministry of Equality for her work in the LGBTQ+ scene. A song I really recommend of hers regarding this is La Niña, a very fun song about wlws (also the music video is soooo). She has released two albums - the second of which won an Odeón to Best Flamenco Album, and has participated in various TV shows like Tu Cara Me Suena. Her most popular song is Por si te vas, and her latest single is Letra Menúa.
MARLENA
Tumblr media
MARLENA is an indie pop duo composed by Ana Legazpi (voice) and Carolina Moyano (guitar) that formed a band in 2017 when they decided to participate in X Factor Italy. They became friends with Damiano and Victoria from Maneskin, and decided to name themselves after one of their songs, Torna a Casa, where the name Marlena appears. They even sing some of Maneskin's song in their concerts. In 2021 they were nominated for Best New Artist or Group in the Los 40 Music Awards, and have collabed with Nil Moliner, La Pegatina or Despistados. I listen to their song bailamorena at least once a week (i wish i was joking), tho their most popular song is Me Sabe Mal. Their latest released song is Red Flags.
MISS CAFFEINA
Tumblr media
Miss Caffeina, formed by Alberto Jiménez (voice), Sergio Sastre (guitar and keyboard) and Antonio Poza (bass) is definitely the biggest name this edition. They are a staple in the indie rock scene since their inception in 2006, and are especially staples in music festivals all over the country and abroad. They have realeased three albums and an EP, and their most known song is the modern classic Mira Cómo Vuelo, with over 13 m views on youtube. Their last released single is Para toda la vida.
NEBULOSSA
Tumblr media
Nebulossa is an electropop band formed by María Bas (voice) and Mark Dasousa (producer, synths). They debuted in 2021, and define their formula as MPYMS (A lot of Pop and a lot of Synths), basing their music on the sounds an rhythms of the 80s. Their most popular song is GLAM, and their latest song is 1N84.
NOAN
Tumblr media
Noan (Zarautz, 25) is a pop-rock indie artist that debuted in 2020. He has collabed with zzoilo or El Sueño de Morfeo, and I personally really enjoy his collab with Paula Koops, Odio que te Quiero. His most popular song is ME MATA(S), and his latest song is Zero (which is a cover btw).
QUIQUE NIZA
Tumblr media
Quique Niza (Madrid, 20) is a musical theatre actor who has been performing all of his life; some of his notable roles are Kurt von Trapp in The Sound of Music, and Danny Zuko in Grease (I saw him live here, and he's incredible!). He has also appeared in some TV shows, like UPA Next and Días Mejores. He has only released one song so far, Ardo.
ROGER PADRÓS
Tumblr media
Roger Padrós (Polinyà, 26) is a Catalan singer and piano player that first rose to fame as a participant in The Voice. Tumblr media
Sofia Coll i Benito (Barcelona, 24) is a singer, actress, and dancer who rose to fame as a participant of The Voice Kids when she was 14, although she didn't release music until 2019, with songs that mixed Spanish and English. She was one of the protagonist of the TV show Bany Compartit (I watched the first episode while writing this, it's really fun and I really recommend it! Episodes are around 10 minutes long, and you can find all of them in RTVE Play and Youtube; they're in catalan, but there's Spanish subs available), and she was one of the dancers in Rosalía's mv for Fucking Money Man. are you researching about pinochet's dictatorship in general, or a specific topic? It makes me sad but I'm thinking about also researching about it
Hi anon! I'm doing my thesis on Retablo de Yumbel, a play by Isidora Aguirre that talks about the Laja Massacre on 1973 under Pinochet's dictatorship. Sadly most of my sources are in Spanish, but the Rememberance and Human Rights Museum in Chile has an english page with first hand testimony and research on the topic from the 60s to present time.
If you want sources as in books, I can recommend Gabriel Salazar's books on the more historical side. But I am a literature major, and the topics that I have a special interest in are the remembrance and narratives around it, so my recommendations go more by that side
In books that are more "tellings" or fictions "Tengo miedo, Torero" (I'm afraid, my bullfighter) by Pedro Lemebel not only sheds light on the dictatorship by itself, but also on queer issues. Isabel Allende's "House of spirits" is absolutely translated and you *should* read her books. Nona Fernández's "La dimensión desconocida" (Unkown dimension) and "Space Invaders" are two of the more recognized modern books on the topic, which are fairly recent and are translated! So give them a read
If you want outright testimony "Tejas Verdes: diario de un campo de concentración en Chile" (Tejas Verdes: Diary of a concentration camp in Chile) by Hernán Valdés tells his own experience in the detention camp. Is the first testimony book about the time published in Chile and you'll find a lot of important stuff in there. Also books like "Amor, te sigo esperando" (My love, I still wait for you) is a new one about mothers and widows that are still looking for their loved ones who disappeared.
If you want theatre, Retablo de Yumbel is one of my favorite plays ever, but also "Los que van quedando en el camino" (The ones that were left behind on the road) also from Isidora Aguirre. Nona Fernández's "Liceo de Niñas" (Girl's High School), Ariel Dorfman's "La muerte y la doncella" (The death and the lady) (This one is noy only tranlsated but presented around the world. You can absolutely find a copy), and Marco Antonio de la Parra's "La puta madre" (Mother whore) are good reads, but I don't know if they're translated. Also I can recommend Juan Radrigán's work, and Jorge Díaz's.
If you want poetry, Raúl Zurita, Damiela Eltit, Nicanor Parra and Víctor Jara. I'm not much of a poetry guy, but I bet you can find a lot of their work translated.
If you look for art, the obligatory one is Miguel Lawner's "Venceremos!: Dos años en los campod de concentración de Chile" (We will win!: Two years in the concentration camps in Chile) which I know for a fact is translated to at least english and portuguese; those are the drawings that represent different scenes on Dawson Island and other camps were Lawner was. You can also look at the Rememberance and Human Rights museum in Chile with a pretty complete collection of art, both in the recognized art world and clandestine and domestic world.
If you're looking for movies, I think "NO" by Pablo Larraín is a very good watch that talks about the end of the dictatorship. Also "1976" by Manuella Martelli. Honorary mention to "Bear Story" by Gabriel Osorio for being a short film with no dialogue that also tackles the topic.
Also shot out to the series "Los 80" (The 80s), which is a chilean soap opera about a middle class family living through the dictatorship and everything that ensues. It's on Amazon Prime, tho I don't know if it's translated.
If you're looking for documentaries, I think "Colonia dignidad: Una secta alemana en el sur de Chile" (Dignidad Colony: A german cult in the south of Chile) is a very good watch. It's on Netflix and completely in english. Also "ReMastered: Massacre in the National Stadium", also on Netflix, talks about the murder of Víctor Jara (Tho there's new developments on the case). But the ultimate ones are everything that Patricio Guzmán ever did. "La Batalla de Chile" (Chile's battle) a series of 3 documentaries that tell the story of the country between 1972 and 1973 on the historical front. In the remembrance front he has "El botón de nácar" (The nacre button) about Villa Grimaldi and the Death Flights and "Nostalgia for the Light" about the Atacama desert, the concentration camp there and other searchings that were done there.
I hope this helps a bit to start. Sorry if I went a little bit overboard, and I do wish you the best researching the topic. These are all off the top of my head so I definitely forgot some important ones lol

There’s a part missing that it’s them asking for people to record them doing challenge and put on social media tagging them.
Roberto: (Jorge is ready), and the dancing crew too. Let’s go for it, and the challenge starts now
Jorge: COME ON! COME ON!
The guy hugging Jorge: the best, the best
Jorge Blimey!
Jorge: Very good! So good!
People: cheers!
Roberto: Damn champion! A big round of applauses to Jorge Lorenzo and for the crew of dancers, guys and girls. Thanks to alls of you. Noe. Jorge Lorenzo.
Jorge: Let me take a breath for a bit
Roberto: what’s happening in here?
Jorge: That I have my heart
Roberto: oh God. A dancer has born, or not?
People shouting: yes
Roberto: all done. Come with me
Boris: a star
Roberto: oh you forget (the trophy), not that is his do you wanna.. here.Take it that is heavy, take it that’s heavy How?
Jorge: I have the heart that.. That Malaysia comes to win my first championship at 190 (that sentence was difficult as Jorge is been over dramatic and confusing as hell)
Roberto: a bestiality. I love it
Pilar: so
Boris: Lovely
Pilar: you are putting things very dark because we have hear Noe, the choreographer saying ‘well we did took him out of his confort zone’. She said it in a diplomatic way
Roberto: yes
Pilar: in away that they weren’t trusting you.
Jorge: I swear
Pilar: I was impressed. Moreover, you mixed different styles inside 1 choreography and I’m amazed with you, truthfully.
Jorge: no, no, without a doubt Pilar
Boris: (he)) impresses. With all the freshness
Jorge: it was. It was the the toughest challenge. Noe deserve a pay raise because I did x5/x6
Roberto: and all her team
Jorge: in hours compared with the other challenges. At first it looked impossible, that I couldn’t do it. It’s 2 minutes with a lot of sections and so but slowly I was picking from here and there
Pilar: How is it the moonwalk? Because you managed to do the moon walk. Can you do it again?
Jorge: well
Pilar: well, well. You won me
Roberto: he already got you
Jorge: no in here slides and
Juan: well
Jorge: and gets grip
Roberto: from one dancer to another, Juan del Val
Juan: no is true that this show tries to do that, take you out of your comfort context and see unbelievable things  and is see Jorge Lorenzo dancing. , the moment of confession has come, I wasn’t betting on you and you surprised me a lot. It was a big show, so congratulations. I don’t know which one is going to be your score but the truth is that you worked really hard
Jorge: Thanks
Roberto: Santiago
Santiago: the truth is, hat the key in here is take people out of their comfort zone. If I’m going to be taken out of my confort one, I prefer what Jorge did rather than Rosa’s (she was in a plastic bx filling with water and she had to stop the flow putting plugs into the pipes. But there was 3 types of plus, and she didn’t know which one was each. Also the more she closed, the greater the pressure on the other points) *mumbles something*
Roberto: we are taking notes
Santiago: having sad that, I was reminded, and I don’t know why, of the hooligans and Malaluf a bit for the theme, but it was amazing. I saw him pretty focussed. We were joking before saying, Jorge is so like that, taht for sure he will do the robot, and out of the blue he did it. So *everybody laughs*
Jorge: 5 seconds though
Santiago: it was our prediction, very well
Roberto: Mateo
Mateo (Dani Mateo, he is the guest judge. He is a comedia, TV and radio host for other channels from the same company as Antena3.): Guy.. Ah.. It had a lot of merit because we are talking about, we are not talking about a celebrity/star, we are talking about a legend. This gentlemen that is in here is a legend in his (sport), and that he had the sense of humour to come in here and dance with that... with that sense... with that farce (in the sense of wanting to fool around, party and be fun), with those looks at the camera, Jorge. Er.. *I think he says something related to one of his parodies, but I can’t understand him*
Jorge: It was difficult
Mateo: you had it well hidden
Jorge: I enjoyed it a lot
Mateo: Spectacular. Look I going to say that Jorge was the first impact I had. The one looking like a biker  today, was me. You know?
Jorge: it’s true
Mateo: they put me as a rider. I went out of the dressing room and I went out me, as a rider and I saw Jorge Lorenzo *Jorge says something like Batista? but I’m not completely sure* bailando una coreografia. This show is done by... *I can’t really understand as people is laughing and thei’s noise over Mateo’s voice*
Roberto: what’s happening in here? *laughing*
Mateo: what the hell is going on?
Roberto: one last appreciation. Eh we saw Valentino Rossi ...
Boris: the Rossi moment
Roberto: that moment was epic
Someone: marvellous
Roberto: we are sending him a ‘hello’ to Valentino Rossi as he will be watching us. You had a good relationship?
Mateo: he doesn’t miss one
Jorge: he is a joker, a joker
Roberto: you are buddies now, now?
Jorge: yes. When we where competing in the same class we where arch-enemies ands there was... was
Roberto: yes there was *hand gesture indicating contact*
Jorge: but now, he invited me to his ranch, we did the race of champion together and there’s a good feeling now
Flo: when he invites you to his ranch again, you bring us
Roberto: a kiss to Valentino Rossi. We invite him to ‘El desafío.
Flo: to a BBQ, with some ribs
Roberto: Jorge Lorenzo, congrats, well done. You can take a sit with your mates
I did no record it, but Jorge got euphoric and hugged by the other contestants. We was also proud of his show

Diario de lectura
Tumblr media
- Nómada: Antología gráfica del cuento chileno del siglo XX. (Varios)

@asongofstarkandtargaryen There's a couple of comics and films I wanted to post something about them some time ago, so here they are
Black is Beltza is a duology of comics, the first one was published in 2014 and the second in 2022, and they have been adapted into two Basque animated films recently in 2018 and 2022, Black is Beltza and Black is Beltza II: Ainhoa.
One of the main things of the comics are the sociopolitical environment of the places and the period the films are set in, for example the first one is set in the 60's mainly in New York and the sequel is set in the 80's and among other places, in Pamplona.

October 1965. The Pamplona troupe of giants, a typical image of the San Fermín festivities, is invited to parade on Fifth Avenue in New York. But not everyone will be able to leave: due to racial discrimination, the North American authorities prohibit the participation of the two black giants. Based on this real event, "Black is Beltza" tells the story of Manex, the waiter in charge of carrying one of the giants. Headed for a long and unexpected journey, Manex will witness key events in history: the racial riots resulting from the assassination of Malcolm X, the eccentricities of the characters in The Factory, the alliance between the Cuban secret services and the Black Panthers, and the proto-hippie psychedelia of early music festivals.

Entrevista a Fiona Sze-Lorrain – Cobertura Silvana Riggio
Tumblr media
