Mountain West Showdown: Fresno State vs. San Diego State - Who Takes the Crown?
Watch Online
The Mountain West conference heats up as Fresno State Bulldogs clash with the San Diego State Aztecs in a battle for conference bragging rights and crucial early-season momentum.
Both teams enter with hungry ambitions, but only one can leave Viejas Arena victorious.
This clash promises high-stakes drama, defensive intensity, and a fight for every inch of the hardwood.
Fresno State Bulldogs: Gritty Underdogs Seeking Upset
The Bulldogs, under Head Coach Justin Hutson, embody the gritty underdog spirit. While boasting a 5-7 record, their losses often came against formidable opponents, showcasing their competitive edge.
Leading the charge is Isaiah Hill, a dynamic scorer averaging 18.9 points per game, whose offensive prowess can spark runs and keep them in the thick of things.
Their defense, averaging 66.3 points allowed per game, promises a physical battle and potential frustration for the Aztecs' potent offense.
San Diego State Aztecs: Defending Champs Facing Early Test
The Aztecs, under the reign of legendary Coach Brian Dutcher, are reigning Mountain West champions and harbor national championship aspirations.
They boast a 10-3 record, powered by a balanced attack led by Matt Bradley (12.1 ppg) and Darrion Trammell (11.9 ppg).
Their signature suffocating defense, allowing a conference-low 59.5 points per game, will test Fresno State's offensive execution and patience.
However, a recent one-point loss to Boise State raises questions about their vulnerability in close games.
Keys to the Game:
Can Fresno State exploit the Aztecs' recent defensive lapse? Hill's hot shooting hand and disciplined ball movement could challenge San Diego State's defensive intensity.
Will San Diego State's offense overpower Fresno State's gritty defense? Their balanced attack and offensive rebounding prowess could wear down the Bulldogs' defensive intensity.
Home-court advantage plays a role: Viejas Arena can become a electric cauldron, potentially providing an additional edge for the Aztecs.
Prediction:
This promises to be a tight and defensive battle, with both teams fighting for every possession.
While San Diego State's talent and experience give them a slight edge, Fresno State's underdog grit and potential offensive explosion could upset the balance.
Expect a nail-biter down to the wire, with the potential for a shocking result.
Beyond the Scoreboard:
This game isn't just about points and victories; it's about setting the tone for the Mountain West season.
A win for Fresno State could launch them into conference contention, while a victory for San Diego State reaffirms their dominance and championship aspirations.
Regardless of the outcome, this clash promises to be a showcase of Mountain West basketball's intensity and defensive prowess, leaving fans on the edge of their seats until the final buzzer.
jack han: “what i see on that clip: adam's elite enthusiasm - good quality coach demos - applicable concepts/content - timely feedback.”
hadi kalakeche: “they’re already working on outside edge access with hutson and barron. identifying deficiencies and adjusting their drills to improve them.”
vincent lecavalier: “it’s totally different. it’s still different than probably what 95 percent of the nhl is doing. adam nicholas is bringing another side to development, and i love it. i’m learning through him. i go to every meeting to try and learn what the kids are doing now, and basically what they’re trying to work on is the brain . . . i’ve heard kent talking about him for a long time, and i was like, ‘what can he really know that i don’t know?’ well, he knows a lot. i’m learning. i’m like a student here this week, and it's been a lot of fun.”
The 2023-24 Hockey East season was dominated by the Boston College Eagles and Boston University Terriers. After a few down years, what’s old is new. The same goes for the University of Maine; the Black Bears finished in third place after a decade or so in the wilderness. The fourth and fifth-place finishers, Providence College and the University of Massachusetts-Amherst, have been near the top,…

@carolinerosemuzak is here w/ “THE DOLDRUMS,” the latest single from her forthcoming LP titled ‘The Art Of Forgetting’ (3/24 @newwestrecords) & it finds the New York-based artist addressing self-blame, rebirth & reformation over a dazzling bout of hypnotic IndiePop.
“DAWNCOLORED HORSE” is the second single from @fennelily's forthcoming LP titled ‘Big Picture’ (4/14 @deadoceans) & it finds the Bristol-based artist, rounded out here by Melina Dutere (mix), Christian Lee Hutson (guitar) & Katy Kirby (vocals) self-soothing over a somber bout of country-tinged Alt.
@iguanadeathcult are here w/ “SENSORY OVERLOAD,” the lead single from their forthcoming LP titled ‘Echo Palace’ (5/12 @innovativeleisure) & it finds the Rotterdam-based quintet of Jeroen Reek (vox), Tobias Opschoor (guitar/vox), Justin Boer (bass), Arjen van Opstal (drums) & Jimmy de Kok (keys) dropping a playfully laddish brand of call & response’d post_punk… that sax tho!
“SEAL OF THE DOMINATOR” is the latest single from @lampofmurmuur forthcoming album titled ‘Saturnian Bloodstorm’ (3/26 @notkvlt/@nightofthepalemoonx @argentorecords/@wolvesofhades) & it finds M’s mysterious LA-based project bringing a visceral bout of opulent BlackMetal.
“TAKE CARE” is the latest single from @tanukichanmusic’s forthcoming LP titled ‘GIZMO’ (3/3 @company.records) & it finds Hannah van Loon’s Oakland-based project turning to the “radio pop-rock of her childhood” w/ a guitar-driven bout of airy & 90s-indebted AltRock.
@thuslovemusic are here w/ a new standalone single titled “CENTERFIELD” (@capturedtracks) & it finds the Brattleboro, VT-based trio of multi-instrumentalists Echo Mars/Lu Racine & bassist Nathaniel van Osdol bringing a beautifully brash & gloomily lit piece of post_punking GothPop.
Kai Fortyfive Talks New Project 'Silky Joints' - Kai Fortyfive discusses his inspirations and more! Getmybuzzup: How long have you been in the music industry? Kai: Since like 2014 foreal, Iʼve been rapping since like 2007 no funny but I started taking it more seriously in 2014. Getmybuzzup: How did you get started in the first place? Kai: I got started because my mans EJ (who lived down the block) was a producer, so my friends and I would be in EJʼs crib every day in the studio trying to get on his beats. Only the people with the nicest verses could get on the tracks so yeah. In 2014 I started taking it more seriously because I had recorded mixtape at my mans Ozzy crib and my other mans Ariel heard it and said: “yo you need to drop this”. I never dropped that tape exactly but I basically re-vamped it and added some new songs and that tape came to be “All Things Get Better” which is my first release ever. Getmybuzzup: How would you describe your latest single? Kai: I donʼt have a latest single but I dead just dropped a whole EP called “Silky Joints”. Itʼs definitely some Silky raps over smooth loops or whatever. Something to sip some champagne and set the mood for shorty to feel me. Please Reblog!

Next Door: A Horror Anthology, compiled by Matt Shaw, Matt Shaw Publications, 2019. Info: mattshawpublications.co.uk.
From the mind behind “Masters of Horror” comes a new horror anthology to keep you up at night! Whilst Matt Shaw is busy producing, writing and directing the feature film Next Door he decided to put together a horror anthology of the same name, and with the same theme as the motion picture. None of the stories in this collection feature in the film; the two products are completely separate other than the central concept of exploring who does live Next Door to us? Given the fact these are some of the biggest names in horror, you can bet that whomever is living next door probably won’t be the friendliest of characters... The year is 2019 and technology has come so far that we spend more time staring at our mobile devices, and screens in general, than getting to know our next door neighbour. Gone are the days of knowing everyone who lives on the same street, or in the same village. Instead we leave our houses, avoid eye-contact or give the bare minimum of grunts to those we see and go about our daily lives without a care for anyone else. No more street parties, no more kindly neighbours checking in on you, no more Christmas cards from the little old lady who lives across the street. There’s only “us” and our technology. This anthology takes a look at who lives Next Door and what secrets they may be keeping. And who knows, maybe it will serve as warning to you that, really, you should be paying attention to those living close-by. After all, Fred West was someone’s neighbour once...
