Hi guys!!! Merry Christmas to you all and thank you for reading ilysm ♡. Posted a long chapter as a Christmas gift! I hope you guys enjoy it!
Disclamer: this chapter contains some soft dom × bratty sub dynamics and some really steamy kissing!
More under the cut!
You woke up the next morning on the floor just beside your bed. You made your way to the bathroom to pee and just brushed your teeth at once.
The pain was finally gone, thank goodness, and you were so hungry you could eat a whole cow. You washed your face, changed your pad and made your way back to your bed, and began to scroll on your phone.
You checked your messages, and you instantly felt bad.
Mines 🤎
Babe, are you okay?
I don't know why you locked me out, but please take care of yourself.
If you need anything, I'm right across the hallway
               1:38 am
Gosh, you were so mean to him for no reason yesterday. Well, not for no reason, but still. He just wanted to make sure you were doing fine, and you just yelled at him and locked him out, then proceeded to refuse his multiple appeals to be let back in.
You decided you were going to make it up to him somehow. You unlocked your door as quietly as you could and tiptoed to his bedroom to "surprise" him but when you opened the door he wasn't there so you made your way downstairs quietly and there he was in the main living room sitting on a couch watching tv.
You crept up behind him and put your hands over his eyes, being careful not to poke him with your nails. You had to get them done, actually.
You forgot how strong your boyfriend was as you didn't realise it when he stretched his hands backwards and somehow flipped you onto his lap. It happened so fast it gave you whiplash.
"Hi." You said smiling at your beautiful man. He always looked so good in the morning it was insane. His fluffy, curly hair was the best part, and you used your hands to move it out of his face a bit.
You looked down a bit and realised that he was shirtless. Bare. Exposed. Half naked. Whatever you wanted to call it. His pecks and abs were on full display close up. You wanted to trace every inch of his skin, feel every ridge with your fingers and maybe your tongue, but no one asked, and you probably shouldn't have thought that.
"My face is up here, Kel." Chan's voice snapped you out of thought. Shit were you staring that long for him to notice?
You snapped your head up at him, and your mouth couldn't even move for you to even try to explain yourself, but luckily for you, your boyfriend was being quite the chatterbox today.
"I mean, you don't have to stop looking if you don't want to. I'm yours." What in the world even prompted him to say that?
"Are you doing drugs, Chan?" You asked, putting the back of your hand on his forehead.
"No, I'm just happy my beautiful girl is back, and the evil monster from yesterday is gone." He said through a smile and pulled closer to him. You gave him a deadpan look and rolled your eyes to show that you were not amused.
"Oh no, she's back." He said, feigning fear in his voice.
You put your arms around his neck and then rest your head on his shoulder.
"You're so silly." You said after positioning yourself.
"Well, that's one of the many reasons why you love me, isn't it? He said while stroking your thigh.
"Maybe." You answered, and then chan lifted you up from his body and looked at you like he forgot something important.
"What?" You asked him to getting a bit worried.
"You still haven't eaten." Was he even real?
"My God, chan, you scared me. I'm the one starving, and I'm not even that worried." He was such an alarmist sometimes.
"Come on, let's get you something to eat."  Chan dragged you to the kitchen where you finally had a proper meal for the past two days.
"Don't lock me out again." He said when you were done with your food. He practically down next to you and watched you eat the whole time
"Hmm, is that an order or a request?" You replied.
"Hmm, i don't know anyone you'd like it to be. He said, shrugging his shoulders.
"Well, I'll think about it. By the way I want to get my hair and nails done I'm tired of these braids and i want a new look but the thing is I don't know if there are any salons that work with my hair type here." You explained your ordeal to your boyfriend.
"You should be able to find one here. Maybe check Google or something, and if you don't find one, just leave your hair out. I miss your fluffy hair." If you had skin any lighter than what you had now, you would be red as a tomato.
"I have been meaning to dye my hair actually, but I don't know what color, and I'm kind of scared of my hair falling out." You told chan.
"Then just do whatever you're comfortable with. Your hair still looks good as it is." Chan assured you.
"If I do end up dyeing my hair, maybe I'll go ginger like you. What do you think?"
"Well, they do say imitation is the best form of flattery..." What did you even expect this man to say in the first place?
"It's my fault for asking you dumbass." You said in the most condescending way you could.
"Call me that again. I dare you." You could have just said you were sorry and gone about your day, but you couldn't help but test your boyfriend.
He was standing up now and hovering above you with his two hands resting on the kitchen island.
"D-U-M-B-A-S-S, DUMBASS." You spelt it out, pronounced it, and as if that wasn't enough, you splashed a bit of water from your glass on his face and decided to make a run for it.
Chan chased you around every corner of the house, and you just kept on running with no direction. As long as he didn't catch you, you'd be okay.
You made your way upstairs, and chan was right behind you. You saw that his room door was open and decided to run in there then lock the door but you realised way too late that your plan wasn't going to work because chan had already made it into the room with you.
You immediately picked up a pillow and started swatting it around as your defense, but chan unfortunately matched your energy with a pillow of his own.
You decided to give up because there was no way you were going to win this fight against your boyfriend, so you surrendered.
"Okay, I'm sorry. I'm sorry, I'll stay still." You dropped your pillow on the bed and sat down next to it to prove that you were really surrendering.
Chan dropped his pillow to and then proceeded to do the worst thing ever. He started to tickle you.
You laughed and struggled till you couldn't endure it anymore and begged chan to stop.
He stopped, and you guys stayed still looking into each others eyes till chan placed a kiss on your forehead and rested his head on your chest.
"You could have just said you wanted cuddles instead of almost tickling me to death." You said to him.
"Shh." He snuggled into you more, and you started to play with his hair.
He was everything you ever needed.
...
You and chan spent almost half the day taking out your braids. He offered to help you, and you really didn't want to take them out all by yourself, so you taught him how to.
He inflicted some sort of pain on your scalp every now and then, but he was trying his best so you endured, and plus, you didn't want him to feel bad for trying to help you.
He was going to take you to get your hair and nails done, and you still didn't know what you wanted to get. You would figure it out.
...
You resumed your normal gym activities with chan, and it only took you like an hour of begging the previous day to convince him to let you guys go back.
And even when he agreed to let you guys go back, he babied you so much. For starters, he made you guys take the car instead of jogging, and then he proceeded to remind you to drink water every five minutes.
"Chan, I'm not sick, you know? I'm all better now, I promise." You tried to sound as reassuring as possible.
"I know, baby, but just drink some water, please." You knew he wasn't going to stop till you drank the water, so you did. And there was just something about the way he talked to you that made you comply.
He took it extra easy on you while he was helping with your exercises, and when you were done for the day, he gave you a head pat and told you he was proud of you. The switch up was insane. He was basically guarding you like an egg.
You felt like you barely did anything, but you said nothing because you were currently weak in the knees over the treatment you were getting, and you didn't want it to stop anytime soon.
When you got home, you guys got ready for you to go get your hair and nails done, and you decided that you were going to go ginger like chan, but you didn't tell him. You wanted it to be a surprise.
You figured you'd eventually have to tell him if the people that worked in the salon spoke no English so he could translate for you which would take the fun out of it all but thankfully it was a foreigner who owned the beauty parlour and they spoke English so your surprise was saved.
Chan waited for you in the car while you were getting your hair done, and it was taking longer than expected. You got hungry halfway, but you couldn't text him to get you food because he'd see your hair, so you suffered in silence.
They started to wash out the dye from your hair, and the colour turned out so good you were in love. You asked for a silk press after that because you hadn't straightened your hair in a while, and you did say you wanted something different.
Chan came in and sat in the lounge of the salon while you were still there, but he didn't see you because the corner where you were getting your nails done was closed off from his view.
When you were finally done, you collected the bill and walked straight over to where he was sitting. He had airpods in and was doing something on his phone, so he didn't even notice that you were standing in front of him.
You tapped his shoulder twice, and his head snapped up to you. He took out his airpods, and you just stretched your palm out in front of him.
He gave you a confused look and looked back at your palm still in lou of what was going on till you asked him for his card then he went "oh!"brought out his wallet and handed you his card happily.
You walked over to the pay point and paid them for their services before leaving with chan.
"So what do you think?" You asked chan as you guys were walking to the car.
"Reminds me of someone." He answered. You couldn't even be mad because you basically brought it upon yourself by dyeing your hair the same colour as your cocky boyfriend's.
"I'm so done with you." You said in fake annoyance and attempted to walk faster than he was when he pulled you close to him by your waist before you could get any further.
"My pretty girl, you look so good, and your hair looks amazing." He said, then placed a peck on the cheek facing him.
You don't know exactly what happened because you completely blacked out when you heard the words "my pretty girl" leave Chan's lips.
Shit it took everything in you not to have a full on make out sesh with him in the exposed parking lot.
You both got into the car, and chan started to drive.
"Chan, I'm hungry." You said.
"What do you want?" He asked you.
"I'm craving pasta right now,"
"Hmm, pasta... I think i know a good place."
Chan took you to a restaurant where you guys ate, and when you were done, you let him pay again. You knew it made him happy to do it, but a part of you chipped away watching him.
You both got into the car and chan started to drive again but you told him to stop at a supermarket for some ice cream. You got a mini bucket for you guys to share, and you both got on your way.
"Kel, you haven't had water since you ate, have you?" He asked you while driving, and you looked at him. His eyes were still focused on the road. You didn't answer him.
"Kel?" He repeated your name looking for an answer.
"No." You said in a hushed tone. When chan heard your reply, he sighed and reached for the bottle of water he gave to you in the cup holder without removing his attention from the road.
"Here, drink it." He said, handing the bottle to you.
"But I'm not thirsty." You said taking the bottle from him. You knew you would end up drinking the water, but you just wanted a rise out of him.
"Kel, just drink it it's not that hard. "
"You're bossing me around, I'm not a kid."
"Baby, I'm not bossing you around. I'm only trying to take care of you, so please just drink water." Ah shit he got you.
You opened up the bottle and drank as much as you could, and chan watched you out of the corner of his eye. You dropped the bottle back in the holder when you were done.
"That's my good girl." He said and patted your thigh.
You have no freaking idea how you restrained yourself from straddling him in the front seat and doing nasty things to him.
You both got home, and chan went into the kitchen to do something, so you sat on the island watching him while eating your ice cream.
You asked him if he wanted some, and when he said yes, he grabbed a spoon and joined you. It was practically useless because he had both hands on either side of you, and you had resulted in feeding him.
Chan had been testing you in his own ways all day and he finally tipped the scale when he used his thumb to wipe some ice cream away from the corner of your lips and proceeded to lick it while maintaining eye contact.
You instantly dropped the bowl of ice cream and pulled chan closer to you by the belt loops on his trousers and kissed him.
The kiss started off slow with chan letting you lead, but that didn't last long once he gained entrance with his tongue. He took his hands off from your sides and placed one on your cheek and one on your back to sturdy you.
His tongue felt so good against yours that you didn't want him to stop. You let out a particularly unfathomable sound when chan bit down on your bottom lip, and you felt chan smirk against your lips. Cocky mf.
You put your hands on his shoulders and wrapped your legs around him using them to pull him in closer, and you slightly angled your head so that chan could go deeper.
You both were damn near devouring each other when Chan's phone rang and it was his mom, so he had to take it. You knew because he had a special ringtone saved for her.
"Fuck." Chan said after he pulled away from the kiss before he picked up the phone. You could see the bulge that had formed in his pants and you were pretty sure your panties were soaked. Chan's mom insisted on a videocall because she wanted to see you two.
"Hi mom." You said when Chan panned the phone in your direction. She insisted that you call her that instead of "Mrs Bang."
"Oh wow you look so pretty, you guys got matching hair colours that's cute. So how are you two doing?" She asked.
You could have told her that you and her son were just down each other's throats but you stuck to a simple "Thank you mom we're doing great. Everything is going well. How are things on your end?"
She told you how everyone was doing and when chan came in to frame she squealed to herself and rejoiced in the fact that she was going to have beautiful grandkids. She was so cute.
"Mom!" Chan said sounding embarrassed and she apologised and went back to talking to you.
"So Kel how is work going going?"
"Wow mom did you just call me to talk to Kel?"
"If I'm being truthful... yes."
"Oh wow well then I'm going to leave since I'm not wanted." He kissed your cheek and went upstairs to his room.
You talked on the phone with his mom for a while and when you got upstairs chan was already asleep.
You dropped his phone next to him and left to go to bed too because you didn't want to wake him up.
Plus you didn't know if you had that much energy to finish what you guys started earlier.

5.
Matt peeked an eye open as he felt the bed lurch up. He laid there for a moment, blurrily watching Kelly waddle to the bathroom.
Forgetting about the man's injuries, he studies the muscles on his boyfriend's back until he swears, bumping into the doorframe.
"Fuck, fuck. Ow, damn." Kelly clutches his side, practically doubling over in pain.
The Captain sits up quickly, bounding off the bed and over to his partner. "Dammit, Kel." He put an arm around his shoulder, supporting Kelly on his way.
"God, sorry, babe. Next time I'll try not to be passed out on a collapsing warehouse floor." He hissed as they moved forward. "Looking for you." He added.
Matt recognized the sarcasm in his voice and fought the urge to whack him upside his head, not wanting to make the concussion worse.
Once they made it to the toilet, Kelly lowered himself slowly so as to not jostle his skull or bend his ankle.
The blonde left him there - confident he was okay - to get him a glass of water and check the time. The alarm clock on the nightstand read 3:37.
When Matt returned, Kelly looked all around like a lost and wounded puppy. He leaned against the wall, mouth slack and hand on his side. His eyebrows were scrunched together in pain.
"Alright, Kel, c'mon. Got you a couple ice packs and water." Matt crouched down to hoist his partner up off the seat.
Back on the bed, the Lieutenant angled his foot on a pillow, resting a cold pack across the ligament. He had one on his side, too; Matt was holding it there as he drifted back to sleep, cuddled up to Kelly.
-
Later in the morning, when Matt kissed his partner goodbye and made sure Stella was okay watching him, the blonde drove to his apartment to start packing.
Eventually, the others arrived, stuffing boxes in the back of Matt's truck as Matt talked to his landlord.
Kelly woke up to soft hands carding through his hair.
"Hey." The other spoke, sitting on the side of the bed.
The injured man shifted, raising himself on bent elbows. He groaned as a wave of dizziness washed over him.
Looking around the room, he saw lots of boxes. "Guess it's gonna be a lot more crowded in here."
"Yeah, well, I would have sorted it back at my apartment, but I talked to Len, and it turned out he's wanted me gone for a while. Already had another renter set up and everything. I promise it's not as bad as you think."
Kelly smiled, taking Matt's hand in his own. "It's fine. Are you done already? Figured you'd have some help."
"Nah, the guys are just on a lunch break, my treat." The Captain grabbed Kelly's other hand, helping him off the bed.
"You got so much money now that you're not renting an unused apartment, huh?" The brunette limped with Matt to the kitchen, sitting on a stool gingerly.
Matt snorted as he grabbed leftover homemade mac-and-cheese from the fridge, reheating it in the microwave.
Kelly took a bite from the bowl as his boyfriend set it down.
"Yeah, I'm practically Jeff Bezos over here."
Swallowing made the Lieutenant's head throb worse, and he swayed in his seat.
Matt looked up and quickly made his way to the other side of the island. "Oh! Oh, alright, Kelly, let's get you on the couch." Maneuvering him, the man slid down onto the furniture. Then, he suddenly started wheezing and coughing harshly. "Kelly, Kelly, deep breaths, come on, with me, in," Matt breathed deeply in, and Kelly followed as best he could. "Out. Again."
A few minutes later, Kelly had calmed down, and his breathing was back to normal.
"Jesus, don't scare me like that. The doctor said coughs, but not that kind of coughs."
Voice straining, Kelly whispered, "My fucking side hurts so bad." A small wheeze. Matt moved to sit next to him, wrapping an arm around his shoulders. The brunette tucked himself into his boyfriend's side, his eyes slipping closed.
The loft door crashed open, Cruz, Otis, Stella, Dawson, Herrmann, and Mouch jaunting through the door. They were laughing loudly, carrying foam boxes surely filled with leftovers.
Kelly put his hands up to his ears, somewhat deflecting their noise. Matt lifted his head to glare at the rowdy bunch, and they all promptly shut up.
"S-Sorry, Captain, we figured he was still asleep." Mouch started.
Casey opened his mouth to address them, "A-"
"It's fine, just please talk quieter," Severide interjected.
The group visited with each other as Kelly finished his lunch and a few glasses of water with his pills.
-
Otis had Cruz pushed up against the wall, a hand under his shirt, massaging his hip, as he berated the man's neck.
"Brian," he cried out quietly.
Severide cleared his throat, rubbing his lower back as a clear sign of discomfort.
"I- um. Just need-" He gestured to the bathroom door behind them. The pair moved to the side, Joe blushing profusely and Brian smirking slightly.
The tall brunette shuffled halfway into the room before he turned, wincing as his skin pulled on the bruising.
Cruz reached out two hands to steady him, asking, "Lieutenant, are you okay?"
"Peachy, how- uh, how long has this been goin' on?" Severide leaned against the doorway, wanting nothing more to sit down at that moment.
The couple glanced at each other, both telling their partner to speak first.
"Few days, I guess." Otis finally said. "After you got hurt, I just need to let Joe know how I felt in case something horrible happened."
"Congrats?" Severide squinted at them, his vision was swimming. "Can you get Matt, please? I can't see."
Cruz rushed off, a "right away" thrown over his shoulder.
-days later-
Matt poked Kelly in the hip, shocking him quickly back to the world of awake and alert. "Come on, babe. It's past your bedtime."
He groaned as he was helped off the couch, the TV before them shut off, the game presumably over.
"Did we win?" He asked.
"Yep, 3-2."
After Matt had managed to get Kelly in bed, he sat in the La-Z-Boy and read a book. A knock on the door made him look up from the novel and frown. He glanced at his watch before getting out of the chair.
"Gabby," he said after opening the door.
"Yeah, sorry, I didn't want to come because it's so late, but-" She shifted the box in her hands, squeezing past Matt into the open room. "I had this stuff in my car that I forgot to bring, and I'm going out of town, so…"
"Right."
Dawson set the brown box down. Matt crossed his arms and leaned against the counter as she stood awkwardly.
"Severide asleep?"
"Yep."
Gabby stared at a hole in the floor for a few minutes before they heard footfalls coming from Kelly and Matt's room.
"Baby?" Severide called as he entered the living room. "There's no more water in… oh, hey, Dawson. What's up?"
Her eyebrows furrowed together as she halfheartedly pointed to the box on the couch. "I was bringing some stuff I left in my car after Matt's move. But, I know it's late, so I guess I should go."
"Yeah, okay. Bye, Gabby, I'll see you on Monday."
"Mmm-hmm." The door clicks behind her as she leaves.
"She seemed weird." Kelly said, adjusting his grip on the wall. Matt laughs, grabbing a couple of water bottles from the fridge and slinging an arm around his partner.
"Come on, grumpy, lets get you into bed."
Kelly tweaked his head and pouted. "I'm not grumpy."
"Sure, darling." Matt responded sarcastically.
They got into bed; Matt curled protectively around his partner.

Today she got up at 5 so she could have time to be ready and get out the door on time so they can decorate the school. Today the school is having a somewhat of a pep rally; she loved being the president of her grade it's some what like politics but it's fun when you have to plan party's and stuff with other presidents and their assistant presidents.
She walked downstairs her mother left her a note of the kitchen table.
~
Good morning Apple,
I hope you have a great day at school, your breakfast is in the microwave and your lunch money is in the drawer on the left. I'll see you to night me and daddy loves you.

The Speed Of Pain
Chapter One
Denver, Colorado
June 24th, 1997
Charlotte
I finally made it! After four years I'm finally free from the school system! With a degree in business management to boot. Now it's time to enjoy my summer before entering the " real " world. I plan on having the most fun while I can.
What are my plans? Ozzfest of course! This is my first time on the road with my dad and there is a whole lineup of amazing bands to see as well. I haven't seen my brother and sister since Christmas so I know we'll be having lots of fun on this tour.
Quickly maneuvering my way backstage I find the old man talking to Billy from Black Sabbath.
" Dad! " I cry out as I run up and wrap my arms around him. " I missed you. "
And I really did. I hate how we've had to do things growing up. I love my mom, but she has never made it easy for him to be the father I needed. Now that I'm out of school I plan on spending as much time with him as possible.
" I missed you too, Schroeder. " He says holding me tight.
I pull back and he lants a huge kiss on my cheek. " My eldest. "
" My daddy. " I say smiling as Sharon walks into the room. " Mom! "
I run into her arms and she hugs me as only she can. " Hello, my darling. It's good to have you back. " She says before pulling away and taking a good look at me.
" It's good to be back. I'm just glad to have my degree out of the way. " I tell her in an exhausted tone.
Nodding she claims, " yes, of course, we're all so very proud of you ".
" Thanks. " I say graciously. " I can't wait to move forward with my career and leave school behind me. "
" Sis! "
Turning to my left I see my only brother, Jack, racing toward me.
" Jacky, look at you! " I say not believing he big he is. " You've grown at least four inches in the last six months. "
He gives me a smug look before correcting me. " Five. "
" Well excuussee me. " I say laughing.
I then hear from behind, " hey, Lotty "!
I know that voice. My baby sister, Kelly. Turning around I see the most amazing yet disturbing sight. Instead of focusing on Kelly, I can't help but stare at the man in the black corset.

Then my baby sister registers. " Kel's! " I damn near squeal before scooping her up in a hug and spinning her around. Putting her down I smooth out her pigtails and smile. " I missed you. "
" Me too... Meet Marilyn! He's really fun. " She says as she goes and hangs onto his arm.
Holding my hand out I say, " hi, I'm Charlotte. It's nice to meet you. "
" Likewise. Any sister of Kelly's is a friend of mine. " He says while shaking my hand.
And just like that, his voice melts my insides more than his appearance interests me. It's like melted chocolate mixed with the devil himself. Damn.
" That was my favorite book growing up. " He says off the cuff.
I am clearly confusion. " Hmm? "
" Charlotte's Web. " He clarifies.
Smiling I roll my eyes. " Mine too. I think it's the first chapter book I ever finished. "
" Schroeder, come spend some time with your dear old dad. " I hear him call.
Giving Marilyn one last smile, I say over my shoulder, " coming ".
Looking back at the oddly attractive man I say, " I'll see you later ".
Manson
Being here at my first Ozzfest is bitchin'. I wasn't expecting to be involved but money is money at the end of the day. Plus Ozzy is cool so it's a nice gig. I can't lie, when we got the call to join them I wasn't too sure if it would be a good fit. That changed once we got to the first city. Ozzy and Sharon are great and their kids are cool.
Kelly took a real liking to me and has been like my little shadow since we got here. Usually, I don't like kids, but I make an exception for her and Jack. They're punk rock all the way. We've been having a blast to put it lightly. I was actually pretty surprised that Ozzy and Saron would even let their children be around this lifestyle but I guess it's better the devil you know than the ones you don't. At least they know where Kelly and Jack are at all times.
After sound check, I'm hanging out with the rest of the band when we see a small commotion over where Ozzy's camp is set up. " What's going on? " I ask as Pogo is heading back from catering.
" Some leggy blonde just showed up. She's pretty hot but looks like she'll give any one of us blue balls just for fun. "  He says with a shrug.
It's then that Kelly comes barreling over with a huge smile on her face. " Marilyn! Come on I want you to meet my sister. " She says before grabbing my arm and trying to drag me away. I give in as is becoming usual to Kelly's requests.
" Hey, Lotty! " She yells as we get closer.
The one she's leading me to has her back toward us. It's a nice back no doubt and her golden hair shines in the fading sunlight. It's then that I realize this must be who Pogo saw. She turns around and her eyes land directly on me.
Tumblr media
Wow.  I'm not usually one for blonde hair and blue eyes, but her smooth pale skin is very pleasing to the eye. She's still staring but I'm used to people doing it at this point in my career. This stare though... It's different. Not one of judgment or fear. More like curiosity and intrigue.
" Kel's! " She exclaims before lifting her up and spinning her around.
I stand here awkwardly as she plays with Kelly's hair a bit. It's then that the young girl remembers my existence.
" Meet Marilyn! He's really fun. " She says as she takes hold of my arm.
Holding her hand out she speaks to me for the first time. " Hi, I'm Charlotte. It's nice to meet you. "
" Likewise. Any sister of Kelly's is a friend of mine. " I tell her as I shake her hand.
Just then my mouth works before my brain can catch up. " That was my favorite book growing up. "
" Hmm? " She asks not understanding what I'm going on about.
Shrugging simply I say, " Charlotte's Web ".
" Mine too. I think it's the first chapter book I ever finished. " She says as she puts a piece of hair behind her ear.
I love it when girls do that. It's an easy giveaway as to whether they're interested or not. Not that I'm looking or anything. It's just nice to know I have such an effect on such a beautiful woman. The fact that she has good taste in books is a bonus.
Just as I'm about to speak again, Ozzy comes into view effectively ruining the moment. " Schroeder, come spend some time with your dear old dad. "
" Coming. " She tells him from over her shoulder. Turning back to me she says, " I'll see you later. "
As she walks back to Ozzy's camp I can't help but whisper, " not yet you aren't ".

Omotober Day Six
“Bran thought about it. 'Can a man still be brave if he's afraid?'
'That is the only time a man can be brave,' his father told him.”
― George R.R. Martin
The walk home had become much more fun since they had met Aubrey. Before they met her it was just him and Kel. That wasn’t to say Sunny hadn’t had fun on those walks. Kel was his best friend, and he never pressed Sunny out of his comfort zones. He did pretty much all of the talking between the two of them and only stopped periodically to check in with Sunny or get an encouraging nod. Sunny loved to listen to Kel’s ranting and wild made up stories, and he usually ended up drawing them once they got back home. But now that Aubrey was there too, it wasn’t just a walk. It was a performance.
“Did not!”
“Did too!”
“Did not!”
“Did too!”
They continued back and forth, practically tripping over each other in their haste to respond. They had seemingly forgotten anything was around them but their ranting, facing one another as they walked and expertly avoiding obstacles with the practiced ease of those who were used to doing two things at once.
Aubrey had only joined their friend group a week or two ago, but she fit so seamlessly in with them it was hard to remember she hadn’t always been there. Kel had found a sparring partner in her, Mari finally had a little sister to spoil and do girly things with, and Hero could have made friends with a brick.
As for Sunny? Well he wasn’t too sure exactly what he thought of the girl, but he enjoyed having her around. He had never been a fan of loud noises or anger, but somehow with Aubrey it was different. She never stayed angry for long, and even when she was mad, she had never been scary.
“Did too times a million!” Aubrey declared, and Kel gave a disgusted growl, throwing his hands up in the air. She smiled smugly and stuck her tongue out at him, which only started their argument anew as Kel’s fire was rekindled by her slight.
Sunny smiled to himself as their back and forth sped up even more, and he continued to walk innocently at their side. As long as he didn’t call any attention to himself, they wouldn’t remember to drag him into it and try to get him to pick a side. Sunny couldn’t exactly remember what started their argument, or why they were still going at it after being at each other's throats since they had all gotten on the bus, but their shouting was funny.
An unexpected bark broke through his happy haze, and Sunny froze. His good mood evaporated and in its place was cold fear, dripping down his back and gluing his feet to the sidewalk. Hector bounded closer, tongue waving in the wind as he ran towards them. Kel cut off his argument with Aubrey and called for his brother. He intercepted the dog as it got to him, holding his collar fast and keeping him back from Sunny.
Aubrey gasped and clasped her hands together, squealing at the arrival of the furry terror. She skipped over, elated by the new arrival.
“Oh my gosh, who is this?” She asked, holding out her hand towards him. Hector was distracted from his mission to squirm out of Kel’s grasp and sniffed her hand with a laser focus. Once he had determined she was friend and not foe, Hector refocused his efforts to escape.
“This is Hector. He’s my dog,” Kel said, his words punctuated by pauses as Hector jerked them back and forth trying to get his freedom. Hector was only a dog, but Kel was also only a nine year old boy, and trying to hold onto an energetic ball of fur was quite the exercise.
Sunny tried to remember the steps Mari had given him for when he felt like this. Calm down.. Focus. No, he had to focus first, right? He couldn’t remember, and if he couldn’t remember the order, then it wouldn’t work. Sunny shut his eyes tight, letting black starbursts try to distract him from the pain in his chest. It didn’t work, then he was just scared he wouldn’t see if the dog came near him. He opened his eyes again. Kel was watching him with a worried look, and shame colored Sunny’s cheeks. It was bad enough to have such an overreaction to something completely normal, but Kel’s eyes on him somehow made it even worse.
“So cute!” Aubrey shrieked, not noticing what was going on between the boys. She squatted down and let Hector lick at her face, giggling in joy and scratching behind the dog’s ears. She took his face in her hands, speaking to him in a sweet baby voice, “You’re just a little lovebug, aren’t you?”
“Yeah,” Kel said, trailing off. He was clearly distracted by trying to manage everything around him, “Where is Hero?”
Said boy was hurrying up the street, an electric blue leash in his grasp. He was panting from exertion, the same way he always did when what they were doing required any exercise, and Sunny vaguely wondered if Hero had his inhaler with him. It was just running up the street, it shouldn’t trigger an asthma attack, but Sunny also knew that stress sometimes made them worse and could make just breathlessness pull into a full attack. On top of the fear and on top of the shame, now he also had to deal with guilt wrapping around his shoulders for causing Hero to have to run out and help him.
“I’m so sorry guys, Mari and I left the door open to get a breeze and I wasn’t paying attention to where he was,” Hero explained as he clipped the leash to Hector’s collar and pulled him into a heel. Hector walked in circles around Hero and tugged to try and get closer to the group of kids. The second Hero had him, Kel was back by Sunny’s side, blocking him and Hector with his body and quietly checking over his best friend. From around Kel Sunny spotted Mari walking over at a much slower pace, and the steel in his spine began to melt. Mari meant safety.
“Why are you sorry?” Aubrey asked, cocking her head to one side and looking around. She finally saw Sunny hiding behind Kel and she seemed even more confused.
Mari arrived with a gentle smile, walking around Kel and hugging Sunny close without words. He wrapped his arms around her automatically, breathing out a sigh and letting the tension fall out of his shoulders and onto the ground. He had felt better when Hero had intervened, but Mari was the one that made him feel safe again. If she was here, nothing bad would happen.
“Calm down. Focus,” She whispered, and the order clicked into place in Sunny’s mind. Once he knew that, he took an experimental breath. It was easier. He could do it.
“Sunny’s afraid of dogs,” Kel explained as the sibling had their moment, “We always keep Hector in our parents room when he’s around,”
“I completely lost track of time,” Hero said apologetically, rubbing the back of his head with one hand. Now that Sunny was taken care of, Kel knelt down by Hector and shushed the still whining dog, scratching underneath his chin the way he liked. Hector’s leg began to shake erratically and he held his head high to give Kel better access.
“It was an accident,” Mari replied, keeping Sunny close to her. When she worried she liked to have him right beside her, and he never minded. Beside her was the best place for him.
Aubrey hummed to herself, clearly taking in all of the information. She pulled her mouth into a thoughtful frown surveying the scene around her. The young girl walked away from where the brothers were and over to Sunny and Mari. She stood in front of him with her hands behind her back rocking back and forth on her heels.
“He’s a nice dog,” Aubrey stated, shooting Sunny an encouraging smile. She kept her voice sweet and light, the way she always talked to him. He bit the inside of his cheeks, avoiding eye contact with the girl. The shame sitting in his belly got worse.
He knew that Hector was a nice dog. Hector was the only dog that Sunny could even get relatively close to, but that didn’t change the fact that he was a dog. He was loud, and he jumped, and he licked, and the energy was just...too much. Sunny didn’t even have a good reason for being afraid of dogs, he just was. He had always been, and he always would be. It was frustrating. It was humiliating.
“It’s okay, Sunny,” Mari soothed, as if she knew what route Sunny’s mind was bringing him down. She patted his shoulder and turned to Aubrey, “It’s just something that he’s uncomfortable with, it’s not something that has to change.”
Aubrey loved Mari. She liked all of them, but Sunny knew that it was more with Mari. Aubrey looked at her like she hung the moon and the stars, and her word was law. They had only known Aubrey for a short time, but he already knew that she would never disagree with his sister.
That’s what made her next words so shocking.
“My mom says that fears should always be confronted. You can never bring light into the dark unless you open the door.” Aubrey stated, the words clearly rehearsed from hearing them over and over. She ended by holding out her hand towards Sunny, her smile never wavering.
“Aubrey...” Mari started with a sigh, her voice kind but delicately firm. Sunny knew what would come next from that tone.
Mari would gently put Aubrey down from the idea and bring Sunny back to the shelter of their house before anything else could happen. She would wrap him in blankets and hot chocolate and love and he would never have to confront what scared him so badly. It was the option he knew, the one that he should take. It made sense and it was safe, responsible even. It would be foolish to break out of what he knew and go beyond into the unknown.
But Aubrey was still holding her hand out. She still believed in him.
Sunny took her hand before Mari could finish her thought, letting himself be pulled out of his sister’s arms. Aubrey hummed a happy tune as she walked them away from Mari and back towards the boys. They were staring at Aubrey in silenced shock, Kel managing to keep a tight grip on Hector’s collar in spite of being clearly lost for words.
Aubrey, unphased and unafraid, changed her grip on Sunny’s hand and turned it so the back of his hand was facing Hector.
“So what you do is let him smell you. That way he knows you’re a friend, and you know that he’s okay with you being close to him.” Kel and Hero had taught this to him over a dozen times, but trying now wasn’t quite so stressful.
It had to be the way Aubrey held no fear or concern. Every time he had tried this before, his sister and friends had reassured him they were holding Hector tightly and that should anything go wrong, they would be here. The possibility of going wrong was what scared Sunny so badly, but that possibility wasn’t present now.
Hot puffs of air hit the back of Sunny’s hand as Hector eagerly sniffed the offered appendage. Kel still had his arms looped around Hector’s neck and Hero was holding the leash, and nothing had gone wrong yet. A pink tongue darted out and licked at his fingers, and Sunny pulled away. It wasn’t the normal jerky motion that was usually accompanied by a sudden breathless panic, he just didn’t like that feeling. Aubrey giggled and reached her own hand out to pat Hector on the top of his head.
“If you pet him, he won’t be able to lick at you,” She commented, and Kel took the silent direction to turn Hector close to him so Sunny could reach his body, “He’s really soft!”
She was right, Hector was soft. His fur was thick and glossy, clearly cared for and brushed thoroughly to keep it this nice. Sunny had seen Kel brushing Hector in the backyard plenty of times before, but now he could see the appeal of putting in all that work. Experimentally he scratched his fingernails against the dog’s body and he was rewarded by Hector giving a full body shake, turning so Sunny could get to his other side.
This was nice, unexpected, but nice. Mari was coming over now, putting a hand on Aubrey’s shoulder and beaming. Sunny turned around to look at the two of them and awarded the girl’s with one of his rare smiles, both of them lighting up at the unexpected happiness on Sunny’s face. Aubrey let go of his hand and turned all of her attention onto Hector, distracting the pooch with her baby talk.
“Are you fwiends now wiv Sunny? Yes you are, yes you are you sweet little baby,”
Sunny pulled his hand back, but he didn’t retreat. He was focused on watching Aubrey. Strong, confidant, idealistic Aubrey. Sunny finally figured out what he thought of her.

“Stop it.”
Mace Windu was a Jedi Master, and as such had years of training resulting in near limitless patience.
A limit, however, that his closest companion and partner in time-travel was testing with his constant pacing. And huffing.
Plo Koon ignored his request. Mace sighed.
“Would you just sit down? You’re not going to bring them home any quicker and you’re wearing down my rug” he warned.
Plo looked at him, looked down at the rug, and continued pacing.
“I don’t know what you’re worried about” Mace continued, happily ignoring the sulky silence. “We know their mission goes well, we’ve done this before!” he exclaimed. “It’s a resounding success and half a planet ends up with a crush on Obi-Wan.” He said matter-of-fact.
He felt a reluctant pulse of amusement from Plo in the Force, as much as the man tried to keep it off his face. Mace could always tell.
He stood up, joining him in front of the sofa.
“Nobody gets blown up, nobody gets injured.” He reminded gently. “The Tume agreement is signed, as it is every year, and they both live to worry us another day” he said kindly.
Plo shook his head.
“I know how it went last time. I remember the debate” he corrected. “But things could be different my friend, we have changed the timeline. The smallest difference could be vital, and we have made a very large difference.” Plo explained, in his usual measured voice. “We have altered young Anakin’s temperament; Force only knows that he’ll do. And Obi-Wan has much less to prove.”
Mace frowned. His friend was making some irritatingly good points, but he remembered the two boys standing in the council room not one week ago; a familiar determined glint in Obi-Wan Kenobi’s eye that, in the coming years, would move planets, and Skywalker looking up at all the Masters as if they hung the stars.
“They will not disappoint us” Mace said surely.
Plo stopped.
“I know” he sighed. “I just…worry. It is most unbecoming of a Jedi” the Kel Door admitted.
Mace smiled.
“We are no longer typical Jedi my friend, and you are not the only one.”
It was true. Despite his words of reassurance, waving the two off in the hanger had brought a distinct clench in his stomach, and the training droids in the dojo had had a very long week.
Both froze, two very familiar force presences making themselves known, and not a moment later Mace’s commlink chirped shrilly.
They grinned at each other.
“Windu”
“Master, Knight Kenobi and Padawan Skywalker have just requested permission to land” the unidentified voice on the other end of the call informed them professionally.
“Thank you, Windu out.” He closed the link without a second thought, already grabbing his cloak and joining Plo, standing impatiently, by the door.
“Wait – we can’t both go!” Mace exclaimed, the thought suddenly occurring to him as Plo reached for the door control.
The other Jedi looked at him, clearly irritated.
“Why not?”
Mace rolled his eyes. One of them had to be sensible.
“Plo, how’s that going to look? Two senior council members waiting for a new Knight and a Junior Padawan? People already think we’re too close” he exclaimed, frustrated with his friend.
Whilst they both had a wildly different attitude towards the A Word (developed over the course of the war and in their new situation) appearances were something they had to be mindful of.
Whilst his expression did not change, the Force around Plo expressed just how much of a toss he gave about appearances.
His friend folded his arms.
“Alright, we can re-convene at the flat later. I will meet them in the hanger.” He said calmly, as if it was some kind of compromise.
Mace raised one eyebrow.
“Any why do you get to welcome them home?” he asked archly.
“You waved them off” Plo said simply. “It is my turn.”
“Ah that’s not how-Plo!” he cried out, outraged as Plo quickly opened the door and strode out into the corridor, pushing Mace gently back with the Force whilst he made his escape.
Leaving the Master of the Order spluttering at the injustice of it all, in his wake.
---
Plo was working hard to keep his happiness behind his shields as he strode into the hanger just in time to see the temple shuttle land. He ran a critical eye over it, having a sudden vision of Skywalker’s battered old ship in that first timeline. As liable to explode as it was to put the wipers on.
Thank goodness that was a bridge to be crossed in the future. He made a mental note to keep an eye out for Anakin adopting ships.
Obi-Wan ruffled young Anakin’s hair, laughing as the boy tried to squirm away, as they descended the ramp. The playful scowl on Anakin’s face transformed into excitement as he sensed Plo and turned to him, held back from running over for his usual hug by his Master’s lightning quick reflexes, grabbing a wrist and holding him back.
Plo sent a wave of welcome over to them both in the Force as they came closer, a genuine smile on Obi-Wan’s face and Anakin practically buzzing with excitement.
Obi-Wan bowed deeply in respect, clearly nudging Anakin through their training bond to do the same, and the boy hastily followed suit.
Plo held a hand up and nodded at them both as they rose smiling. Both looked absolutely fine, perhaps Obi-Wan a little tired, but Plo had a feeling that was more to do with the energetic ten-year -old he’d just spent a week with, than the challenge of the mission.
“Welcome back” Plo once again pushed his pleasure at them in the Force. Predictably, Obi-Wan’s eyes slid away from looking him in the face, but he smiled gratefully all the same as Plo plucked the bulky pack out of his hands and shouldered it. Anakin nearly skipped as they all headed towards the exit and made for the Kenobi/Skywalker residence.
“Thank you Master, it’s good to see you-“
“Master Plo, it was so wizard we went in a hyperlane and the pilot let me sit up front and Chose was awesome Master it was hailing when we got there, like really hard rain! And they had massive beds and loads of puddings and me and Master Obi-Wan went to a play with singing-“
As the child rambled excitedly on, Plo shared a bemused look with a resigned Obi-Wan, sending him a wave of amused sympathy at him in the Force. Received with a dry raise of the young man’s eyebrows.
It must have been a long week for the twenty-three-year-old.
Content to let the child’s happiness wash over him, and Obi-Wan appearing to enjoy the lack of expected contribution for once, the journey to the flat was mostly uneventful, only a few Jedi casting them amused looks at Anakin’s wild gesticulating.
“Anakin, Obi-Wan!”
They were stopped from keying in the door code by Mace’s cry of greeting as he rounded the corner towards the little group. Ignoring Plo he went straight up to the boys, Anakin beaming at him and Obi-Wan bowing once again.
“Master”
“Hi Master Mace! Guess what? We saw hail on Chose and-
“Anakin” Obi-Wan blissfully interrupted before the whole recount could begin again. “Why don’t we get inside and get the tea on and then you can tell Master Mace and Master Plo all about our mission” he suggested firmly, in a way that was definitely not a suggestion.
“Yes Master”
Obi-Wan keyed in their code and stepped inside, Anakin following happily kicking off his boots by the door.
Mace, still giving Plo the cold shoulder, stepped inside first. And made a distinct noise of surprise. Plo followed curiously looking over his shoulder.
“Obi-Wan – what happened?” he asked, aghast.
Plo held back an unseemly laugh.
The flat was a tip.
There were robes on the floor, he spotted two pairs of boots sticking out from under the sofa and a discarded pack under the table. What looked like the entire Temple’s supply of mugs were scattered on almost every surface, alongside precariously stacked datapads and flimsy piles on the tables and on the floor, some of which had fallen over.
As he picked his way across the room, avoiding random bits of droid and one or two power tools, Plo could spy a half-eaten bowl of cereal on the kitchen counter when he peered inside, and about three days worth of washing up. A laundry basket was sitting next to the washing machine, overflowing with brown and beige.
The two young Jedi stood awkwardly in the middle of the flat.
Obi-Wan flushed a little.
“Ah, we left on quite short notice” he offered.
“I don’t think it’s that bad really” Anakin offered with an awkward shrug, slyly kicking something further under the sofa.
“This is….” Mace was lost for words. Whilst Plo hadn’t spent much time in Master Kenobi’s home the first time around, he had always thought the man to be fastidiously clean, and what he had seen had been very tidy.
Anakin however, was no surprise.
Plo could sense Mace doing the same thing he was, adding “domestic help” to the Obi-Wan Support List. They’d been so focussed on studies and their boy’s personal development they completely forgot that the Knight had never lived by himself before, never mind taken care of a youngling!
Obi-Wan apologetically shoved some pads and an old robe off the sofa to make space and disappeared into the kitchen to put the kettle on.
The two Masters sat down gingerly. Anakin on the floor opposite.
“Your mission was a success?” Plo asked conversationally as Obi-Wan reappeared with the mugs of tea. Plo caught Mace peering at the rim for signs of prior use, and gave him a look.
“Yeah” Anakin answered before Obi-Wan could get a word in “the Chosians didn’t like me at first but they really liked Master Obi-Wan and they spent ages talking. And people kept giving him stuff.” The boy explained with a disgusted expression. “Flowers and cakes and-“
“Yes thank you Padawan” Obi-Wan interrupted loudly, his ears turning a rather bright shade of pink. Mace smirked at him and Plo sent his partner a mental swat.
Obi-Wan cleared his throat.
“The mission was a success and the Tume Agreement has been updated and signed.” The Knight took a sip of his tea. “We will not need to go back for a while, it should be valid for another ten years” he finished casually as if accomplishing something no Jedi had managed before, on his first mission, was an afterthought.
Mace and Plo shared a look.
Just like last time.
It was a huge relief that their presence had had no adverse effects on the Negotiator’s skills. As Plo sat and listened to Mace congratulate the blushing young man he had a thought.
What could these two, The Team; the best Jedi of his generation and the most powerful force user ever, accomplish with the support of Mace and Plo this time around?
The Sith had better pack their bags. He thought smugly.

To get a feel for the whole set up of Obi-Wan Anakin’s first mission when they were assigned it “the first time around” read this Snippet Of Nothing, which is the mission being discussed, and is from the councils point of view.

No Matter Where You Go, I Will Find You. Part 4
Hello All! Sorry for the delay! My Hubby and I have had a busy month of July and I wasn’t able to keep to my schedule like I wanted too. Sorry about that. From Baseball games to Comic-Cons to Disney trips, we’ve been stupid busy. I am working furiously on the other chapters and hope to at least have some words on Cody soon! Y’all, not going to lie, the fact that there has been ZERO mention of him on The Bad Batch is killing me.
As Always:
This will eventually be a 18+ older fic and deals with anxiety, death, sex,  PTSD, murder, loss, found family, Order 66, and coming to terms. This is not just a fluff fic. It will very much be dealing with very dark and hard themes, so please, if that is something that can be too hard for you, don’t read.
Pairings: Rex x Reader x Cody (polyamory) I should say this is NOT a Rex x Cody fic. There will be ZERO Clonecest on this blog or story. Reader is a consensual relationship with Rex and with Cody. Yes they share, yes they will eventually have sex together, but Cody and Rex are NOT in a relationship nor will they be intimate.
Rating: 18+
TW: Death, Murder, infanticide, death of the Jedi, PTSD, Loss, Anxiety, eating disorders, sleep disorders, Order 66. I will add other things as I think about them
Part 4: It’s You.
You waited with your back to the door on Hondo's ship; another one was docked right outside, carrying the crew that had something either of you wanted. You took a deep breath, adjusting your blaster in your thigh holster and checking over your clothes before putting on your helmet. The base of it was a black Ubese helmet, edged with black dyed bantha hair and painted to resemble a Kaleesh skull in white.  The edges of the white skull were rimmed in a dark red and the faux eyes were painted an electric green, almost making them glow. The breather of the helmet was pointed down, tapering at the end and etched with designs reminiscent of a certain Kel Dor. Twin points also came down from the sides,  once again resembling a Kel Dor breather, but painted to look like the fangs of the Kaleesh skull. When you wore it, you were an incredibly fearsome sight to behold.
Hondo had stepped out of the cockpit while brushing off his clothes, but when he saw you he went on and on in a poetic manner making you snort behind your mask, "Pretty Lady must you put on that horrid thing? How am I supposed to gaze upon your beautiful Visage? How am I to write songs of your shiny eyes if you insist on covering them? How am I to chant loudly into the heavens about the glory of your smile when all I see is that ugly thing staring back at me?"
The sound that came out of the modulator was a loud crack of static. It wasn't lost on him though, and he waggled his brow at you, knowing he made you laugh.
"Hondo, one of these days I'm going to launch you out of an airlock. Then you'll be Wild Space's problem."
He laughed loudly, but before he could give a retort, the door-lock opened and the crew from the other ship began to board.
Immediately the hair on your neck stood up and your hackles raised. It was time to go into heartless bounty hunter mode, another mask that became easier and easier for you to put on.
Hondo noticed your posture change and went to greet whoever had come aboard, stepping in front of your turned back. Whether it was to hide his best and most terrifying asset or to put space between you and them for your sake, you never knew. You liked to think it was his way of still protecting you, even after all these years. It probably was.
"My friends! My friends! So good to see you again! Ezra Bridger! It has been too long!"
You heard the cacophony of voices greeting him in a less than enthusiastic excitement. If these people were your friends, you would have laughed again. But you didn't have friends.     From the sound of it, there were four people behind you. Nothing difficult to take down, but not something you should be careless with. There was something off about one of them though, you couldn’t put your finger on it, but they were...familiar.
"Allow me for introductions! This tall, imposing creature behind me is my associate, bodyguard, smuggler, chief pilot, chief mechanic, artistic muse, platonic soulmate, oldest friend, and beautifully deadly bounty hunter, all rolled into one.  And this band of colorful characters are the crew of the infamous Ghost!" Hondo waved his hands in a grandiose manner between the group and your back; this was a well rehearsed situation that you both had done several times, though for whatever reason, he decided to over exaggerate your titles. Normally he would do the talking and you would scare the clientele. And if you had too, if they had something that you knew belonged to them, you'd kill them. Nothing would keep you from the last remnants of the ones you loved and lost.
"Ahh, Hondo? Does your associate have a name? Or talk? Are they even awake? Are they just going to stand there?" You heard a boy's voice, a cockiness only found in the young lacing every word.
"Ezra." A woman, probably someone important, chastised the boy.
You waited for Hondo's signal for you to turn, but the door opened once more and you heard one more set of boots and something soft, furry, stepping across the steel. A voice spoke. A Lassat. Dangerous creatures, you had seen a few when you were still a young Padawan with your old Master. Before the war. Before they died. Back when your biggest concern was the eventual Trials. You knew a fight wasn't going to be easy and you hated the idea of killing an already dying race. But you would if you had too.
The Lassat male was arguing with someone about something, but you weren't paying attention.
Hondo touched your shoulder softly, your signal to turn. He had spent the time making pleasantries and lulling them into a false sense of comfort, probably. He could have been talking about the weather on Jakku for all you cared. You were more concerned about making sure the straps on your holsters were open, giving you easy access to draw.
Slowly you moved, letting them see just how dangerous you were, how in control of your body you were, how much they should fear the creature behind the helmet. But, you halted mid spin.
All of the blood drained from your face, your mouth went dry, your throat tightened up, and you were overcome with such anger and gut wrenching sorrow you thought you would snap.
The man that walked in with the Lessat was wearing HIS armor. The armor you had spent 15 years looking for.
You blanked.
Somewhere there was yelling and cries to stop, but you couldn't make it out. Your head was spinning and it felt like there was cotton in your ears and as tunnel vision took over, everything knocked your senses for a loop. You didn’t realize you were doing it, but you grabbed both your blasters, turned fully, and pointed them at the man. Half the crew jumped out of the way, the others pointed their weapons at you, and Hondo tried to reason with both sides, standing with his back to you while the man had his own blasters trained on your head. Hondo quickly got out of the way of the four barrels, still trying to diffuse the situation. You couldn't understand what he was saying, everything sounded so dull and muted.
No, wait. Those weren't just any blasters. You would know those DC-17s anywhere.
"HOW DARE YOU!"
Someone was screaming. You couldn’t tell who it was or where it was coming from. It was garbled and cracking, a mechanical sound. It hurt your head. You just wanted everything to stop, just for a moment. But the world kept spinning and you felt like you were going to pass out any moment. You just wanted everything to be quiet, you needed to think, you just wanted a moment to figure out what was going on. Why was it so loud? Why did everything hurt? You just wanted everyone to just be still. Just be still, if only for a second.
You could feel your breathing pick up, that tightening fear in your chest, that ache that gripped your heart and threatened to pull it from your body. ‘Just be quiet, please, please, be quiet. I can’t...I need to think, I need to think..’
"HOW DARE YOU WEAR HIS HELM!” More screaming,  “DO YOU HAVE ANY IDEA WHO HE WAS?! DO YOU?! HOW DARE YOU WEAR HIS ARMOR AS YOUR OWN! HOW DARE YOU STAND THERE AND KNOW NOTHING OF HIM!" Maker, the screaming was coming from you. You were yelling at him, venomous spit falling from your mouth, words meant to shame and kill. Your blasters were trained on his chest, fingers laying on the triggers.
"TAKE IT OFF OR I WILL RIP IT FROM YOUR BROKEN CORPSE!"
You could feel something wet on your cheeks but you didn't know what it was or where it came from.  Did this man kill Rex?! Did he rip his beloved armor from his broken body? Did he leave him to rot in some cursed field? Or did he just take it from his already forgotten skeleton? Your heart beat a mile a minute, you were sweating and your whole body shook in anger, but your hands never wavered, blasters trained perfectly on the man. How dare this cretin dishonor Rex, dishonor his memory.
"YOU WILL NEVER INSULT HIS MEMORY AGAIN! TAKE IT OFF!!"
You were panting and your modulator was straining under the volume of your voice.
No one lowered their weapons. No one spoke. No one moved a muscle. All that could be heard were your wheezing sobs through the helm.
There was a beat. And then another. And then the man did something unexpected.
You just knew you were going to have to kill everyone. You just knew you were going to peel bloodied, beloved armor from some backwater nothing.
But when he slowly lowered his arms, holstering the DC-17s, you faltered. Was he giving up so easily? Perhaps he didn't want bloodshed after all. Good. But it didn't make you lower yours. Nor did it make the others lower theirs.
Slowly, like he was trying to coax a scared lothcat, the man raised his open hands to the old helm covered in hatch marks with jaig eyes and pulled it off.
First you saw weathered skin tanned from the sun, a white beard trimmed nicely, then a strong nose and finally golden eyes, eyes you had seen a million times before. Eyes that haunted you every time you went to sleep. Eyes you thought you would never see again.
When he had taken the helm completely off and tucked it under his arm, he spoke. And everything inside of you shattered.
"My name is Rex. Captain of 501st regiment in the Grand Army of the Republic. This is my armor that was issued to me almost 20 years ago. I don't know who you think I am, but I can assure you, this is my armor."
The others watched you, weapons trained. No one moved, no one spoke, no one breathed. You, on the other hand, felt everything rushing back at you full force. When he spoke, his voice was a punch to your gut, knocking the wind out of you, causing you to hyperventilate.  Your blasters, still trained on him, began to shake violently in your hands.
You were panting and your eyes blurred from all of the new tears. Panic rose high in your throat, cutting off your breathing. It can’t be. How could it be? He died. The Empire recorded him dying after Mandalore. You were there, you saw the absolute destruction. No one survived that.
Involuntarily you dropped your weapons and they clattered loudly to the durasteel ground, but your arms were still stretched out, still holding onto phantom guns.
You inhaled sharply, your modulator cracking in a loud hiss. Slowly, trying to control the tremors that wracked your body, you moved your hands to your own helm and unlatched the buckles on the sides. There was another hiss as the airtight seals released the pressure and vented.
"What's going on..." the young boy started. "Hush, Ezra Bridger." Hondo cut him off, silencing him with a hand on his shoulder as you and Rex stared one another down.
You lifted your helm up and then let it fall to the floor, a loud clank shaking the silence between you all.
Rex sucked in a breath and released it in a harsh shudder, his mouth hanging open. "Mesh'la," he whispered; he could feel his knees giving out, causing him to stumble forward and push his way through his crew.
His eyes were as wide as saucers and glistening. Fat, heavy tears tracked down his face and fell into his beard as he reached shaking hands out to you. He paused for a moment, afraid that if he touched you, you would disappear like every dream before. But carefully his hands gripped your face, gently turning it side to side, taking in the scars and faint crows feet and wisps of grey hairs you now sported. Your age and harsh life showed, but you were still just as beautiful, just as ageless, just as perfect as he remembered. Still the same eyes that he dreamed of every night.
You couldn’t breathe. It felt like all the air had been sucked out of your lungs and every nerve ending burned. You could hear your blood pumping in your ears, creating a painful rush like being thrown under the oceans. Every part of you felt like it was on fire. You couldn’t think, you couldn’t move. Slowly your shaking hands gripped his wrists and held him close. Your body tried to take a shuddering breath, but it only came out as a choked sob while you squeezed your eyes shut.
As the noise left you, Rex pulled you close, his mouth over taking yours in a passionate kiss, full of tongue and teeth. Your hands left his wrists and wrapped around his neck, pulling him closer as he continued to hold your face.
"Rex. I thought....I thought you were...Rex," you whispered into his lips between kisses.
"I searched for you, Cyare. I looked everywhere. I thought you died. I thought Cody.."
Your breath hitched at his name, making Rex pull you impossibly closer. You both stood there, wrapped in eachothers arms, crying, kissing, whispering love to one another, completely oblivious to the others.
You weren't sure if your knees failed you, or if it were his, but one of you fell to the floor, taking the other with them, still wrapped in each other, crying and holding on for dear life.
The Twi'lek woman quietly ushered the others, a man and a Mandalorian girl, along with the boy and Lessat, out. Hondo followed behind, a smug smile on his face, ridiculously proud of himself, giving you both much needed privacy.

Warning for mentioned/implied child abuse
“What the hell are you doing here?”
“Apologizing,” Kelly forces out through gritted teeth. Every step he takes toward Buck is one more step away from the parts of himself he’s spent the past few days trying to drown at the bottom of a whiskey bottle, one more step out of his father’s shadow.
Buck doesn’t react and Kelly stops awkwardly a few feet from the end of the couch. The silence drags. Buck is only wearing one sock, notes the small part of Kelly’s brain that isn’t willing Buck to just say something, and the other is probably lost under some piece of furniture, rotting in the summer heat until Kidd inevitably comes home after a shift to a smell so foul she rips the whole apartment apart searching for it. Kelly shakes the strange and pointless thought off when Buck finally peeks at him from under the shadow of the arm still covering most of his face.
“Was that the whole thing?”
“No.” Kelly grits his teeth and closes the last few feet between them, sinking down to sit in the narrow space between Buck’s hip and the edge of the couch. Some of the tension eases out of his jaw when Buck doesn’t immediately move away - enough to let him speak, “You said I sounded like your mom, but all I can hear when I think of the last thing I said to you is Benny’s voice.”
Buck makes a curious noise and the couch shifts under his weight, but Kelly can’t bring himself to look away from his own hands. He could probably count on one of them the number of times he’s spoken to Buck about Benny and still have fingers to spare. “You know, he signed me up for my first boxing lessons when I was maybe six. I could already take a punch,” air hisses sharply between Buck’s teeth, “but he said a real man needs to know how to throw one, too. A real man never backs down from a fight.”
Nausea churns in Kelly’s stomach as he remembers the consequences of losing a schoolyard fight, or ignoring a backhanded comment from one of his cousins during the holidays. The phantom ache of old injuries flare to life only to disappear just as quickly when Buck’s hand, big and warm and solid enough to ground Kelly firmly in the present, settles between his shoulder blades.
“Look, I’m not trying to make excuses,” Kelly continues, changing subjects before he can embarrass himself further. “I punched Thompson because I thought he deserved it, and because I wanted to. I can’t promise I wouldn’t do the same thing again, ‘cause I’m always going to want to stand up for you, Ev. But I don’t want to become my father, either. So I can promise to try to do better next time. And…”
Kelly finallys turns and forces himself to meet Buck’s eyes, wide and wet and full of pity. No, not pity, Kelly realizes. Understanding. Somehow that hurts worse, and he reaches out to rub his thumb over Buck’s birthmark just so that Buck’s eyes will flicker closed long enough to let Kelly take a deep breath. It’s punched right back out of him when he recognizes the faint line of an old scar along the top of Buck’s cheekbone for what it is for the first time.
“And I promise I will never put my hands on you to hurt you.” Buck snorts, but it’s accompanied by the barest hint of a smile as he squints through his long lashes. It breaks the tension just enough to draw a strained chuckle from Kelly, “You know what I mean.”
“Yeah,” Buck’s smile grows as he pushes himself up on one elbow. “I do. For what it’s worth, I’ve always known that. You’re not your dad, Kel. I just - I guess I don’t understand. I’ve never wanted to hit anybody in my life.”
“I hope you never do,” Kelly replies, meaning it.

You Take My Heart Away [Kelley O’Hara x Reader]
Tumblr media
requested by anon: Kelley O’Hara x reader where reader gets into a fist fight but she’s like I won’t throw the first punch bc I’ll finish it and like she gets teased by the team but Kelley is mad at reader for it bc R could’ve gotten hurt but it was still cool
requested by anon: Can we get another Kelley O’Hara x reader doesn’t have to be anything specific just maybe along the lines of them both being crazy and maybe oblivious
A/N: i decided to combine these two prompts! hope y’all enjoy it. also bonus points to anybody who gets the title reference (there’s a lil connection to a reference within the story)
warnings: homophobic and sexist language, violence, and swearing
Conversation was flowing and music was playing in the background of the bar, as the USWNT finished up their first round of drinks and appetizers. The team had pushed together a couple of tables, where you all were now sitting, laughing at each other’s jokes.
The air was light, victory and celebration filling the atmosphere. Megan and Ashlyn had been the ones to suggest a night out after your win against Japan, not only to celebrate the 2-0 victory but also to celebrate Lindsey’s birthday that was in the next couple of days.
You were currently sitting next to your best friend, Kelley O’Hara, bridging the gap between the veterans and the youngsters.
“Anybody want another drink?” Alex asks, pushing her chair back, as she moves to get up.
A chorus of yeses ring out, the team’s orders ringing out.
“I’ll help you with that, Al.” You stand up from your seat, giving the other woman a warm smile.
Once the two of you had left for the bar, the rest of the team began interrogating Kelley, who let her eyes follow you as you moved through the crowd.
“Kel,” Ash calls out over the noise of the music. “When are you gonna admit to (Y/N) that you’re hopelessly in love with her?”
“What?” Kelley sputters, flustered.
Megan rolls her eyes at the defender. “It’s so obvious that you’ve had a crush on her for the past like six years, and a blind person can see that she likes you too.”
“I- I’m not in love with (Y/N).” Kelley’s face flushes, as she rubs the back of her neck nervously. “She’s my best friend.”
“Kelley,” Christen softly chimes in,, hoping to talk some sense in her friend she’s known since college. “You guys obviously have feelings for each other that go beyond friendship, and you’ve been dancing around them for years. We just want you two to be happy.”
Many of the women nod and voice their agreement.
“But what if it ruins our friendship and I lose her forever?” The freckled defender bites her lip nervously.
“That’s not gonna happen.” Christen gives her a knowing look. “Even if she didn’t reciprocate those feelings, she’s not gonna cut you out of her life.”
“And Kel,” Tobin adds on. “You never know until you ask her. And who knows? The risk of putting your heart out there may be worth it. But you’re just gonna live in the dark haunted by the unknown and what ifs unless you tell her how you feel.”
“I hate that you’re philosophical insights are usually right,” Kelley huffs.
Meanwhile, as the team holds their intervention for your best friend, you and Alex were at the bar ordering another round of drinks.
As you were waiting for the bartender, you and Alex were engaged in your own conversation, when you hear a boisterous voice interrupt you.
“Hey! It’s Alex Morgan!” A large man approaches the two of you, holding a half-full cup of beer in his hand, and you have a feeling he’s downed a couple pints already.
You sense Alex tense up next to you, as she gives the stranger a tight smile. “Hello.”
“Oh, and who’s this?” He turns to you, a leering grin on his face, making your insides turn. You reach for Alex’s hand in search of comfort but also as a protective gesture.
“Is she your girlfriend?” The man looks back at the star forward. “I hear your entire team is full of d*kes, but I didn’t think you were one. You’re way too hot to be a d*ke.”
Alex’s grip on your hand tightens, as anger radiates off of her. “I’m actually happily married.” She raises her left hand to show off her ring.
“Woah.” The stranger lets out a low whistle, his eyes slowly widening before he squinting to get a better look, as his movements impaired by the alcohol. “That is quite the rock. How’d you afford that with your pay? I’ve heard all about your team’s fight for equal pay and all that. I personally think it’s a load of crap. You guys aren’t even that good at soccer, and it’s so boring. The only thing that makes your games interesting is your smoking hot bodies.”
You scrunch your nose in disgust at this man’s blatant misogyny. “I’m surprised you know about our equal pay fight. I’d think it’d be too complicated for your thick skull,” you quip, throwing the insult right in his face.
“Ooooo feisty, are we?” He raises his eyebrows at you. “And where do you get off calling me dumb?”
“I’m just calling them as I see them,” you simply state, letting go of Alex’s hand, as you move to stand in front of her protectively. “Where do you get off disrespecting women and being a bigot?”
“(Y/N/N), it’s not worth it,” Alex whispers in your ear.
“I’d listen to your friend,” the man sneers and stands up straighter, slightly sobering up. “Because I’m not afraid to hit a girl, especially a mouthy one like you. Women like you deserve to be put in your place.”
“Go on then,” you challenge, probably a stupid decision on your part, but the adrenaline is rushing and you are at your wits end with this man in front of you. “I dare you.”
You thank all the gods in the universe that the stupid stranger was actually stupid enough to try and throw a punch with his blood-alcohol level because you can see his punch coming from a mile away.
Before his fist can make contact with your face, you grab his hand and twist his arm, leaning in closely to his face. “Is that all you got? My mom hits better than you.” You smirk.
“Let go of me, you bitch,” he growls, snatching his arm out of your grasp.
“Wait, I have one more thing,” you call out.
“What the hell are you talk-”
Before he can finish, you cut him off, rather your fist cuts him off. The man in front of you had been testing your patience and had used up all your grace, which, in your opinion, warranted a punch in the face.
You can’t help but wince at the sharp pain shooting through your hand upon the contact, but the cracking sound of his nose eases some of your discomfort.
By now, the rest of the team had become worried by your prolonged absence and then had noticed the commotion this stranger was stirring. Hearing the raised voices coming from your direction, many of the veterans, including Kelley, Christen, Tobin, Ash, Ali, and Megan, made their way over to where Alex was currently holding you back from unleashing your anger on this drunk man.
“What is going on here?” Becky asks, surveying the situation in front of her.
“This asshole was insulting Al and then had the audacity to continue being a sexist pig,” you spit out, directing your words at the man, who was still holding his bloody nose, while Alex was doing her best to keep you under wraps.
“I think it’s time for you to go,” Ashlyn states firmly.
As the goalie, along with Becky, Megan, and Ali, coax the stranger into leaving you alone, and hopefully leaving the club, Alex, Christen, Tobin, and Kelley try and calm you down.
“(Y/N/N),” Christen soothes, cupping your face. “I need you to calm down. Take a deep breath.” The curly-haired forward inhales and exhales, motioning for you to mimic her actions.
You take a deep breath, and upon exhaling, you feel the tension, along with the adrenaline, leave your body.
“Shit,” you sigh. “My hand.”
You lift your right hand, revealing your split knuckles on which bruises were starting to form.
“Come on, Sylvester.” Tobin claps your shoulder, letting out an amused chuckle. “Let’s get you back to the hotel, and on the way, you can tell us all about your heroics.”
You amusedly roll your eyes and lean into the other woman’s side.
As the team gathers their things, ready to call it a night after the turn of events, Megan approaches you, holding out a bag of ice.
“Here, (Y/N), the bartender gave me this for your hand.”
“Thanks, P.” You place the cool ice on your knuckles, hissing at the temperature shock.
On the way back to the hotel, many of your teammates were interrogating you about what had happened back at the bar. After telling the entire story, you received many hoots and hollers from the rest of the team.
“Damn (Y/N)!” Ash whistles. “Remind me never to get on your bad side.”
“Way to protect our honor,” Rose gushes, as many of the women nod along.
“Thank you, (Y/N), for defending me,” Alex says sincerely.
“Of course, Al. Anytime.” You give the forward a warm smile.
“Who knew (Y/N) could be such a badass?!” Emily exclaims with an impressed look on her face. “Kel, did you know that your best friend was a secret badass?”
While the rest of the girls had been teasing you about your heroic actions, your best friend had been oddly quiet.
“News to me.” Kelley answers shortly, her face hard and distant. You furrow your eyebrows in confusion, wondering if the defender was mad at you. You thought she would’ve been proud of you for standing up for the team and putting a sexist douchebag in his place.
Before going back to entertaining your teammates’s jokes and questions, you make a mental note to talk to her once you get back to the hotel, silently thanking Vlatko for rooming the two of you together this camp.
You would never in a million years admit it, but you were harboring a huge crush for your best friend, had been for the past six years, ever since you’d joined the national team. Not only did you not want to ruin your friendship and end up losing Kelley, but you knew she would never return your feelings.
Over the past several years that you’d been friends with the defender, you’d seen Kelley go in and out of relationships, and comparing yourself to her other girlfriend’s, you had a feeling you weren’t her type.
You also had reservations due to the fact that Kelley was your teammate, and you didn’t want to change the team dynamic, especially if the two of you didn’t work out.
Thoughts of Kelley clouded your mind all the way back to the hotel, only further exacerbated by her deafening silence.
Upon arriving to the hotel lobby, before you all disperse to your rooms, Alex gives you another hug and thanks you again, and Becky, ever the mother of the group, gives you a warning.
“Make sure to ice on and off. 20 minutes. You know the drill, (Y/L/N). Kelley, make sure she takes care of that hand.”
“Don’t worry about me, Becks. I got it,” you reassure the veteran defender, giving her a mock salute.
Following Kelley, you cautiously enter the hotel room. You nervously watch the other women move around the room, as she silently goes about her usual nighttime routine. Taking the hint that she wasn’t going to talk to you anytime soon, you go about your own routine and get ready for bed.
After about twenty minutes later, after both of you had showered, you were finishing wrapping your hand and were about to get into bed, when you noticed Kelley discretely staring at your bandaged hand.
Unable to tolerate the silence anymore, you break the tension. “Okay, what is up with you?”
“Hm? What do you mean?”
“Kel,” you sigh, plopping down on the side of her bed. “You’ve been giving me the cold shoulder ever since what happened at the bar. Are you mad at me?”
“Nope. Not mad,” Kelley hums slightly passive aggressively, still not looking up from her book.
You roll your eyes, frustrated by your best friend’s childish behavior. “Kelley, I know when you’re lying, and I know that you’re mad at me right now, so would you please just look at me?!”
Sensing the exasperation and frustration in your voice, Kelley closes and sets down her book. “Fine, you’re right. I am mad at you.”
You thought you’d feel relieved, hearing her confirm your suspicions, but instead, the pressure in your chest increases.
“Why? What did I do?” You practically beg, scooting up the bed, so you’re closer to the other woman.
“As if you don’t know,” she scoffs.
Confused, you tilt your head. “I clearly don’t. Kel, please talk to me, tell me what I did.”
“You literally punched a dude in the face!”
“Yeah, but he deserved it, Kel! You heard the things he was saying,” you defend. “I couldn’t just let him get away with talking about our team like that. I thought you’d be proud of me for standing up to a sexist asshole like him.”
“I am proud, sort of. I mean that was completely badass and totally warranted, not that I necessarily expected that from you, and I’m glad you put him in his place,” Kelley babbles. “But that’s not the point, (Y/N/N). You were reckless tonight. You could’ve gotten hurt!”
Your face softens at her outburst. Taking a deep breath, Kelley confesses, “I love you, (Y/N). I’m in love with you, and I just can’t stand the idea of you getting hurt, especially by some drunk idiot who doesn’t know shit about football or respecting women.”
Your eyes widen and your heart practically stop, when you process the words that have come out of your best friend’s mouth.
“(Y/N), please say something,” Kelley begs.
“You’re in love with me?” You test the words on your mouth.
“Yeah,” she sighs contently, giving you a soft smile. “Have been for the past eight years.”
“Gosh, we really are idiots.” You let out a wet chuckle, shaking your head.
“What?”
“I’m in love with you, too, Kel,” you rasped, your voice laced with pure emotion. “I’ve loved you since my first camp.”
“Wow,” Kelley scoffs, an amused grin playing on her face. “Are we really that oblivious?”
“Apparently so.” You shrug. “But we’re here now.”
“Yeah, we are.” The freckled woman softens. “Can I kiss you?”
You nod eagerly, leaning in to meat the other woman’s lips. The kiss is nothing like you’d dreamed of; it’s better. It’s soft and tender, full of love and passion. You melt into each other, as your lips move together in harmony.
Not wanting things to get too heated, especially not before you’ve talked about what this meant for the future of your relationship, you pull away, resting your forehead against hers.
“Hi,” you whisper, smiling like a fool.
“Hey,” Kelley murmurs softly, returning your smile.
“I love you.”
“I love you, too.” She takes your hand, kissing your wrapped knuckles. “But please don’t be getting into any more bar fights.”
“Hey! I would never start a fight, however I have no problem finishing them.” You smirk, boasting slightly triumphantly.
Kelley rolls her eyes playfully, but then looks into your eyes. “I mean it, (Y/N). I can’t stand the idea of you getting hurt. So no more fights alright?”
“I promise, Kel.” You give her a chaste kiss.
“Good.”
That night, you stay in Kelley’s bed, cuddling into her side. As you slowly drift into a peaceful sleep, you notice the woman next to you is already fast asleep.
You sigh contently, and you can’t help but feel extremely lucky that even after all these years, and everything that’s happened, life still led you to this woman and a love worth fighting for.

Somebody's Everything
Chapter Three (Always been the one)
Me and Nick didn't last that long and I finally gave up on love, so I thought and now we're getting to Valentine's day 2017
"Hey, Lindsey so I wanted to ask you something." Brock said as grabbing my stuff to go home
"Yeah what?" I asked looking up at him
No one else was in cages
"Well I was thinking how about and Anti Valentine's day date tomorrow night." He said smiling
"We could but I really don't want to see all those couples looking so cute, hostly I would rather stay watch movies in comfortable clothes." I said smiling at him
"Well we could do it at my place or your." Brock said moving closer to me
Has there always been sexual tension between me and Brock yes. Would we ever act on it no.
"Your place what time?" I asked looking at him
"how about we make it and all day thing so like noon." Brock said smiling at me
"Yeah, let's do that." I said grabbing my bag and walking out of my cage
The next day I got and put on comfy clothes and packed some stuff in my backpack before heading over to Brock's house for the day on the way I stooped at the store to pickup some stuff and lunch for us. When I got to his I just walked since we are best friends. Cerb came up to me and looked at me before running off somewhere in the house. I walked and to the kitchen and put the stuff I got on the counter
"Hey." Brock said scaring
"Fuck." I yelled jumping in the air
"Sorry." He said smiling at me
I hummed at him response, not looking at him. I heard him walking over to me, he grabbed my hand and pulled me towards the couch, half way into he first movie I fell asleep on Brock's shoulder, but had nightmare about my mom and sister
"Kel." I woke up screaming
"Woah, hey Lindsey." Brock said from beside me
I looked around before realizing it was a nightmare and started crying
"Hey, Lindsey your safe okay, no one can hurt you." Brock said hugging me
He didn't know about my mom and sister all the team knew was the died in a car accident when I was four I remember hearing siren and screaming for my older sister when I pulled away from the crash and nothing it was traumatic for me, I was taken to NCIS and met a really nice agent that took care of me while my dad came from overseas, later going up Stillwater for school since my dad wanted me to me be safe so still water up until my 7th grade year
"Hey you want to talk about?" He asked looking at me
I nodded my head
"I was four, my mom and sister witnessed a cartel hit l, we were being driven to a safe place when they found us and shot the agent in the head my sister wrapped her arms around me ant it saved my life, but they both died immediately in the crash, later my dad shot the man responsible down in Mexico." I said telling Brock the story at least what remember from that night
"Lindsey." He said sadly looking at me
All of sudden his lip were in mine and I kissed him back, we both way quickly
"Sorry, I...hm." Brock tried to say but nothing really came out of his mouth
"let's just watch the movie." I said pulling away from him
We watched a couple movies before I left going back to my apartment and going to bed
A couple weeks later everyone noticed the awkwardness between me and Brock, it was kiss but we both liked it and we're not about to talk about it. But the team had ways everyone left the cages and me and Brock heard the door lock
"Fuck, come on." I said trying to open the door
I heard Brock chuckle from his cage
"I have dinner with my dad tonight." I said banging on the door
"Are you going to kill them?" Brock asked trying not to laugh
"Maybe if they don't open this door." I said sliding against it
"Well maybe they can feel the awkward tension between us since the fifteenth." Brock said standing up
"What the kiss, why are we supposed to talk about we both wanted it in the moment. I don't see a reason to talk about we did it. Its said and done." I said looking at him
"Okay so it doesn't matter that we kissed because it kinda matters to me. I didn't want talk about it that day, but I was hoping maybe it would come up, but it hasn't." Brock said making Cerb look at us
I stood up and walked over to him
"I wanted to about but I don't know how to start that conversation." I said looking at him
He grabbed my face and brought me into a kiss, I kissed him back passionately. The door of the cages opened
"finally the sexual tension has lifted in this room." Nate said walking into the cages
Me and Brock jumped back turned towards our team mate and saw the rest of the team behind him
"Will talk about this later." I said looking at Brock before leaving the room and going and finding either Lisa or Mandy, I found Lisa first
"Lisa me and Brock fucked up, now there's going to be HR forms because now al of Bravo knows." I said rambling
"What happened?" She asked grabbing my shoulders
"Valentine day me and Brock kissed and then today bravo Team locked in the cages together and we kissed more like made out, but now we're going to talk it out. I also have dinner with my and I'm leaving in like and hour. My is going to notice no his whole team will." I said looking at her
"Clam down everything will be fine." She said before walking away
While I was in Norfolk the team got spun up so I used MTAC to see what was going on, "You guys shouldn't be doing this." I said through coms
I've never been on the other side watching and op go down, once the gun fight started. I took off my head set off and sat down in one of the chairs watching what was happening, I put my head set back just to hear
"Fallen Eagle, Bravo 6 is down." Jason said on the end
I turned off everything and walked out of the room and slide against the wall upstairs before going to elevator and turning it off. I cried for a good ten minutes before leaving the building and going to my dad's and packing my stuff to meet the team at the base.
When got there, I went inside the building of the base and went the op room and sat in on how the op went for the team
"Who's going to make going to make the death notification to Nate's family." Trent asked from info front of me
"Gibbs and Hayes." Blackburn said looking at us
"Lindsey are we sure?" Brock asked concern lacing his voice
"Blackburn already talked to me about." I said looking at Brock with smile
"As long as your sure." Brock said looking at me
Me and Jason got into are dress uniforms before leaving and going to Nate's house
"So you talk to Brock yet." Jason asked from the drivers seat
"No I was with my dad and you guys got spun up." I said looking at him
We pulled up to Nate's house and got out of the truck. I put my hat on my head before walking up to the house and knocking on the door
"Jason, Lindsey." Nate's wife said opening the door
Jason did the speaking, after that we went back to base, I went into the cages and took off my hat before sitting on my bed. I heard the door open and saw Brock coming in
"Hey." He said walking into my cage
"Hey," I said looking up at him
He sat next to me and brought me into his side and kissed my head
"My dad's been trying to call me." I said leaning head against his chest
"Get out of your dress blues and we can go back to your apartment or my place." He said into my hair
"Let's do yours we can leave my truck here for the night." I said looking at him
He got up and grabbed his stuff before leaving the room. I changed into everyday clothes and and left heading out to Brock's truck after grabbing my bag from my truck and locking it. I got into Brock's truck after putting my bag in the bed
"So." He said pulling out the
"So." I said looking at him
"Probably not the best time to talk about, since we just lost someone on the team." Brock said smiling
"I would talk about anything right now." I said reaching for one of his hands which I found
"So us we have kissed twice." He said looking over at me
"Yeah." I said resting my head on the window
I felt the truck stopped
"Hey I got to grab Cerberus from my mom's." He said leaning over and kissing my cheek before getting out of the truck and running into the house, he came back out with Cerberus and loaded her into her kennel in the bed. His door opened again and the truck started and he grabbed my hand again
This one got away from with cuteness

Major Buir (Plo Koon x reader)
{masterlist}
Words: 3.7k
Warnings: Unedited, Plo Koon trying to flirt but not quite understanding how to make the swoon, Wolffe being the embarrassed son, potential second hand embarrassment for the reader because I think that Plo is very sweet but is not well versed in the art of flirting. Clones being dumb and cute. Angry Wolffe, potential fluff overload-I got a little carried away.
Notes: Yeeee it’s my first time writing for Plo-would it be wrong to tag?...I’m gonna do it. @a-dorin , I would like to thank you for inspiring me to write this. I find myself steadily becoming a Plo simp and your fics have only accelerated my downward spiral.
Also, this was only supposed to be about 1.5k words...woops
……………………………………
“From this, we can conclude that the remnants of the Ehterium cluster supernova would provide a suitable route around this Separatist controlled rat’s nest.” You sniffed carefully and lowered the pointer to tap against the ground but it landed on your foot. Swiftly, you moved it again so it actually tapped against the durasteel floor of the briefing room. A few chuckles slipped from the gathered cloned men and Jedi generals currently scanning over your notes on the holomap that had witnessed the little slip-up. “Though I can understand the hesitance-which is why I have also taken the liberty of charting a different course around the cluster entirely. It would take much longer though and would put you in more danger in the long run as you’d be exposed and out of range for too...long.” You trailed off, suddenly self-conscious of the overuse of the word ‘long’. Even though you’d worked for the GAR since the start of the clone wars (and technically before that if you counted all the academy training) you’d never gotten the hang of the ‘intimidating analytics and tactician officer’ schtick despite trying. You were often compared to a little mouse in the academy-even when you were wielding a blaster. But that hardly mattered when you were one of the top tacticians in the army and the Jedi were very kind to you. Especially General Plo Koon. He was incredibly patient with you as you adjusted to life with the 104th after being transferred from the 205th and he gave off this very warm and loving vibe.
And thankfully your new general was among the Jedi present-calmly looking at you with hands clasped behind his back, respectfully silent as the other masters muttered over the maps you’d provided. You met his eyes uncertainly. While it wasn’t like this was your first time pitching a new tactic to a general it was the first time you’d ever pitched an idea to so many people (eight, to be exact) that were so high ranking. The room was currently occupied by yourself, Depa Billaba, Obi Wan Kenobi, Cody, Anakin, Ahsoka, Rex, Commander Wolffe, and Plo Koon and while none of them were ever rude to you it was hard to not be intimidated. You weren’t the one that had to go through with this plan-they did. They were the ones in danger. Sure, you could lose your job but they could lose their lives. So, you looked to Plo Koon as he would be sure to tell you what he thought.
Perhaps he was so open with you because he could read you better than anyone else? He always knew what you were thinking and knew exactly what to say to help you. If you were honest, it was no wonder why you two were fast friends. And it wasn’t a surprise when you realized that certain feelings had crept up on you. Although you had resigned yourself to never act on them for both of your sakes there was no helping the admiration that prompted you to value the Kel Dor’s opinion over anyone else’s. And just like so many times before, it seemed like Plo knew this for he offered a single nod to you when your eyes met. The tension fled from your shoulders instantly as a silent sigh of relief slipped from you. Plo Koon approved. You had done good. He knew how hard you had worked on the new plans and could cite several instances where he had stumbled upon you slumped over your desk as the testimony to your dedication. Each time the Kel Dor quietly lifted you to your feet and encouraged you to leave the work for the next day as he escorted you back to your quarters. Once the two of you got there, he’d always, always place a secure hand on your shoulder with a squeeze that just barely made his talons dig into your greys as he bid you goodnight before sweeping away with one last order to get some sleep tossed over his shoulder. It was similar small gestures like those that gave you hope that were your situations different-he being a normal citizen like you and not a Jedi with no trace of war-that maybe something could happen. But alas…
“I must say, Major, I do believe you’ve outdone yourself.” Kenobi was the first among the Jedi to speak with one hand clasping his chin and the other clasping his elbow in typical Obi Wan fashion as he scanned over the details once more.
You dipped your head with a carefully practiced, “thank you, General” as your immediate reply though deep inside, your pride swelled. This was possibly your most ambitious plan yet and one that had presented significant challenges. While you were a good tactician, your strong suits lie in terrestrial combat and not space. It felt great to be validated.
“Yes but…” Depa Billaba began with her arms dutifully crossed over her chest as she scrutinized further, “what are we to do about this asteroid field that cuts through our path?” The Jedi asked calmly and you brightened at the mention of it because you had banged your head against it every which way. The asteroid field was the one thing you couldn’t accurately account for as the data you had received on it initially had been outdated. And you explained as much to her.
“However, I am happy to tell you that I may have found a way to...acount for this hazard.” You cleared your throat and leaned over the console to zoom in on the area in question. “This asteroid field is large, messy, and problematic, and had you asked me how to avoid it earlier I wouldn’t have had an answer. But, I think that the best course of action is to separate-to make it look as though the three of you-” you pointed to the generals you were specifying, “are escorting Depa Billaba till she comes in range with the nearby medical station. That way if any Separatists follow you, you can still maintain the element of surprise because I know that if we can make General Billaba’s starship appear vulnerable that they will go for it. Worst case scenario, you dust off the guns a little preemptively. Best case-” again, you clicked another button that revealed a dotted red path through the holo projection, “you can use the asteroids as extra cover while you navigate through this path.” You paused a moment, eyes shifting to gauge the reactions of everyone. From across the table, your eyes met with Commander Wolffe’s who raised an eyebrow at you. “Clone intelligence has informed me that this path might be outdated as well but we will be active on the comms to offer guidance through the field as you go.” Commander Wolffe gave a firm nod and, again, the Jedi and clones retreated inwards to try and think of any situations that they would need to be prepared for. In the weighted silence that followed, you were keenly aware of Plo Koon drawing closer to you as he methodically circled the console before you. His hands remained clasped behind his back the entire time and you couldn’t help but watch him as he approached.
He came to a stop right next to you-close enough for your arms to brush and for his warmth to seep through the fabric of your greys. Plo Koon remained quiet for a little longer, leaving you more time to fight the instinct that told you to lean closer to him before he moved his arms. His taloned hand brushed the back of your own and his vambrace bumped your forearm as he brought his arms up to cross over his torso. You couldn’t help but dwell on the feeling of even that minuscule contact which almost caused you to miss the compliment he paid your way.
“Uh...th-thank you, General.” You coughed into your fist in a not so subtle way to correct your stutter. “But really, my plan is only good because my data was good. You should really thank your men that got me the information.”
The Kel Dor made a huffing sound that would have sounded like a laugh if not for the heavy overlay from his mask. “Believe me, Major, I will but you do deserve some of the credit.” He stressed, even going so far as to grasp your shoulder very briefly. You could still feel the imprint of his touch when he moved his hand away.
“Anakin, you’re being unusually quiet.” Obi Wan saved you from further implosion as he addressed his former padawan. You and Plo Koon both turned your attention back to the other occupants in the room and you were unsettled to find General Skywalker’s eyebrows furrowed in scrutiny as he glanced between you and the Jedi Master. Perhaps more alarming though was Wolffe’s face. He was staring at Plo Koon with what you could only describe as a bug-eyed look.
“Just thinking, master.” Skywalker eventually answered. Your jaw tensed in uncertainty though the younger man said nothing more regarding the visual dissection of your interaction.
The meeting continued for a few more minutes with you working to finalize the more minute details and to take measures to establish backup plans that would most likely be abandoned by the Jedi at the first sign of conflict and the Jedi began to disperse with their own CO’s. Eventually, that left just you, Wolffe, and Plo Koon. At the first sign that the meeting was adjourned, you began to pack your things up and to log off the computers but instead of leaving you to your own devices like you thought he would, Plo Koon remained with you. He casually waited at the console you had left him at with his hands clasped before his diaphragm, a common gesture for him you’d noticed, while Wolffe awkwardly hovered near the door.
“Was there anything else you needed, General?” You asked, glancing over your shoulder at the Kel Dor. He stood up straight and approached with light footsteps.
“Not particularly, Major, but I would like to congratulate you once again on another excellently thought out plan.” Plo Koon’s voice was as calm as it ever was but there was something there-a slight lilt you weren’t familiar with or maybe it was better described as a squeak? Slowly spinning on your heel, you turned to face him.
“Well,...thank you, General. It...It’s my job.” A part of you swore at your inability to take a compliment properly while the other parts were all focused on Plo Koon. Sure, he’d complimented you on your plans before (he did during the meeting) but he had always reserved the more serious praise for after the missions and the debriefings. He’d never stayed after the preliminary meetings.
“If you don’t mind, I’d prefer if you called me Plo Koon-it feels far too impersonal to be addressed as ‘general’ outside of meetings.” The Kel Dor explained with a raised hand to stop you from saying anything else till he had said his piece.
You blinked. Once. Twice. Before eventually sliding your gaze over to Wolffe who had a hand clasped over his eyes. That gesture only added kindling to the confused fire as you returned to the man in front of you. There didn’t seem to be anything amiss-his mask looked in place and to your knowledge, he hadn’t been in the medbay recently. “As...whatever you wish...Plo.” You swallowed, his name-something you’d said in your head thousands of times before-felt foreign on your tongue. “You can of course call me ‘Y/n’...then.” You offered uncertainly.
“Of course,” he echoed with a nod. “I’ve always thought your name fitting.”
“Thank you…?” You asked uncertainly.
“I just mean that it is a strong name and you bear it well.”
“...” Again, you couldn’t help but look over at Wolffe who had taken his face in his hands in what could only be described as a picture of absolute mortification. His helmet was awkwardly squished into his chest as he shook his head from side to side, lips moving as he formed words you couldn’t hear from where you stood. “I...uh...I like your name too, Plo. It’s gentle…?” You tried as you returned your attention to the Kel Dor and raised one shoulder in a half-shrug.
He brightened, back straightening up as he continued to regard you. “Thank you, I’m rather fond of it myself.” A silence fell over the two of you-horribly tense and laced with an awkward air you had no way of dissipating anytime soon. Averting your eyes from the Jedi, you rolled your lips in and bit them as you fished for something else to say.
“Is...are you sure there wasn’t anything you needed, General?” You finally asked after shifting on your feet for the third time.
Plo Koon shook his head, less in a form of denial and more like he was trying to shake himself out of a stupor before answering. “I’m positive but while we’re on the subject of names I feel it is important for me to inform you of the new one circulating amongst my men.”
You raised your eyebrow at the Jedi, not missing the way Wolffe froze entirely. “A new name for me or…?”
“For you.” Plo nodded. “It seems as though they’ve taken a liking to calling you ‘Major Buir’.” There was something in his voice that told you he was smiling (or the Kel Dor equivalent of smiling) beneath his anti-ox mask.
“Buir?” You questioned as your mind raced to dig up a definition for the Mando’a word you’d heard assigned to the Jedi on multiple occasions. “As in what the Wolfpack calls you?”
“Indeed. Are you familiar with Mando’a?”
“After fighting alongside the clones?-of course, but I’m afraid most of the terms I know relate to fighting, tactics, or swearing.” You explained promptly with a glance to Wolffe at the mention of his language-the clone in question looked frozen in his spot and it seemed like he was no longer alone as you could swear you saw the familiar red hair of Boost and the silver of Sinker ducking behind the doorway.
Plo Koon suddenly leaned forward, getting closer to your height as his voice dropped to just above a whisper. “Buir is Mando’a for ‘parent’, Y/n.” Immediately, it felt as though someone had locked you in carbonite-your heart was still warm as it surged with affection for the men of the 104th yet at the same time your body felt the familiar frozen tingle that so often accompanied the sensation of treading through uncharted territory. You were keenly aware of Plo Koon’s proximity and the way your heart sped as a result. In an attempt to combat this you took a deep breath to steady yourself and regain control over your vocal chords. But that was a mistake as Plo’s natural scent infiltrated your senses. He smelled of leather and fresh air, of tea tree and some other piquant scent you couldn’t name that you knew was the remnant of one of the contraband candles he had hidden aboard the ship. It was so him-something the standard issue GAR soap couldn’t hide-that it overwhelmed you in an instant and you found yourself leaning closer. He, a flame, and you, a moth.
Your lips parted slightly as your face relaxed and you swore that you’d never felt calmer. It felt like someone was wrapping you in a hug; you felt safe, wanted, and adored. “But...if they call you that and are now calling me that…” you began through the sudden dwam your mind floated in. The pieces were starting to fall into place. “Then...General Plo Koon,” your voice suddenly became firm as you forced yourself to step back, “Are you trying to flirt with me?”
Plo Koon straightened up, his hands finding their usual resting place crossed in front of his stomach. “I am. Was it not obvious?” He asked, his held tilting to the left just slightly.
You briefly thought back to the somewhat strange string of compliments he’d paid you that lead up to this. “Uh...no, not really.” You explained quickly, eyes now flickering around the room in an attempt to come up with a reply to this revelation.
“Hmm.” Plo Koon hummed. “My apologies then. Boost encouraged me to be forward-perhaps it was not enough?” You blinked up at him, gaping like a fish-if that was Plo being forward then you wouldn’t have stood a chance if he had taken a subtle route.
Before you could say anything though, Wolffe’s explosive voice cut through the briefing room as he rounded on Boost. “You told him to do what?!” The commander barked at his red-headed brother who had long since abandoned hiding behind the doorway and was now standing tall with his chest slightly puffed.
“Oh come on, Vod, we both know the General likes ‘em! And Major Buir wasn’t going to pick up on it anytime soon. I was just trying to help!” He huffed back, practically getting in Wolffe’s face.
“Meddling isn’t helping, Boost!”
“I dunno-seemed pretty effective, Commander.” Sinker chimed in.
Wolffe wheeled on him next. “Don’t tell me you were in on this too!” The one-eyed clone seethed. “If you weren’t my brother I’d-”
“Boys!” You snapped, having heard enough. The three brothers stopped immediately and turned to you; each one bore a similarly sheepish grin. With a shake of your head, you turned back to Plo who had watched on in amusement. “Plo, I’m flattered but...what about your code? I know attachments are dangerous and I wouldn’t want to be the reason you-”
The Jedi master raised a hand. “My dear, attachments aren’t dangerous. It is how they can be used against a Jedi that is.”
“I don’t follow.” You tried only for Plo to shake his head.
“Yes, you do.” The Kel Dor dropped to your height again. “Y/n, if attachments themselves were dangerous Jedi would also be forbidden from being compassionate.” You were stricken silent, painfully aware of the three pairs of eyes currently fixated on the two of you. “But even if they were, I’d still find you worth the risk.” Your heart melted, a soft ‘Plo’ slipping past your lips that made the Kel Dor incline his head. “I know you care for me too, Y/n, so...are you willing to be with me?”
You bit your lip in thought, a smile creeping across your face as you looked up at the Jedi. “I’m guessing there’s no talking you out of this?”
“You may try but my feelings will persist.” Plo countered immediately-a lightness to his voice you hadn’t heard before.
You chuckled briefly and let your gaze slide over to the three clones now curiously peering at the two of you. You took in their identical faces and the imploring looks each one was giving you. When had the Wolfpack wormed their way into your heart? Probably around the same time their general did. You turned back to Plo Koon. “I say...of course,” You smiled and slipped onto your toes to wrap your arms around the Kel Dor’s neck. He returned the embrace with a low hum, his arms slipping around your waist, “ner Jetti.” You could hear whooping and hollering from the entrance to the briefing room.
……………………………………………………..
The barracks were dark and crowded later that night-many of the men from the 104th had all crammed into one room to watch the holofilm you’d smuggled onto the starship. It had been about three weeks since the fateful meeting that led to the union of you and General Plo Koon and each day had brought a new development in your aliit as word of your relationship spread. For the most part, none of the men were surprised-some even commenting on how Plo Koon was apparently unable to tear his eyes off of you during meetings, holocalls, or your brief but frequent trips to the base on Coruscant. But there were a few who weren’t expecting it at all.
But everyone you’d told had been supportive. And now as you sat curled into Plo Koon’s side with clones draped all around you as most dozed off in the peaceful barracks you could safely say that you’d found where you belong.
A tug on your arm pulled you away from the nearly impossible to hear holofilm (the few soldiers that were still awake had turned the volume down so they could let their brothers sleep) and to the clone currently barely awake with his head on your lap. “What is it, Boost?” You asked in a whisper, keenly aware of the sleeping Sinker and Wolffe on Plo’s other side. Still, your voice managed to catch the Jedi’s attention as he turned his head towards the two you.
The red head stared up at you blearily, a yawn interrupting him before he began speaking. “I just wanted to say that I’m happy you and general buir are together now. And that I’m glad I could help.”
A breathy laugh escaped you that Plo helped quiet with a hand over your mouth. He dipped his head to gesture at Wolffe who grumbled and curled closer to Sinker in his sleep. In retaliation, you batted his hand away and rolled your eyes at the Kel Dor before looking back at the sleepy man. “I am too, Boost. Thank you.” You answered fondly, letting your head fall against Plo’s shoulder.
“Like I said-” he cut off to yawn, “happy to help...major...buir.” Boost trailed off as his eyes closed and he wormed his way closer to you.
You smiled. “Thank you, ner ad’ika.” As Boost officially fell victim to dream land you turned towards Plo who had watched the exchange carefully. The same feeling of being hugged, of being safe, wanted, and loved infiltrated your senses but you now recognized it as Plo’s signature. Still bearing that soft painted smile, you pressed your forehead to his. A final whisper of thank you slipped from you as you resigned yourself to stay in that moment forever.

Total Badass
Pairing: Kelly Severide x (female) Reader
Word Count: 2274
Author’s Note: I love Kelly soooo much, he’s one of my top favorites (even though I love everyone so much, lol) and I love getting requests for him! I loved this writing out this request so much too, especially the last part, the first part was a little difficult but overall I’m happy with how it turned out.
Trigger Warning(s): Hostage situation, fire, near death experience
Disclaimer: I don’t owe nor am I affiliated with any of the Chicago shows, I just like to play with the characters
Summary: Y/N Y/LN is a badass detective in the Intelligence unit, she’s been dating Kelly Severide for a few months. Well when they go to apprehend the suspect, a fire breaks out, and Y/N is taken hostage in the midst of the commotion. 51 is called in and Kelly is incredibly worried about his girl, but soon finds out that she can most definitely handle herself.
Y/N = Your Name
Tumblr media
When you started dating Kelly, you both knew it wouldn’t be easy. Between your demanding jobs and the fact that you both were in very dangerous lines of work, you knew that sometimes you’d go days if not weeks without seeing each other.
That’s why it started out casual, even if it didn’t stay that way for long.
You guys made it official about a month in when you were out together and a guy hit on you, causing Kelly to tell him to back off of his girl.
After that you were his girl, plain and simple.
You eventually moved in together after you had been going steady for six months, and a year after that, he proposed and you of course said yes. That was three weeks ago.
Kelly was always protective over you, even though he knew you could take care of yourself, and he just got even more protective over you after you got engaged, which you didn’t think could happen. You were wrong.
You were getting ready to apprehend someone, after the door was busted open, you were the first one inside. You don’t know how it happened, but your gun was knocked out of your hand and you were thrown down to the ground while someone was shooting at your teammates.
You were groggy from hitting your head and trying to figure out your next move when the man you were going to apprehend threw a molotov cocktail towards the entryway of the house, causing fire to spread along it.
You were on your feet then and getting ready to go for the guy when he turned on you, aiming his gun at you and stopping you in your tracks.
You slowly raised your hands up. “You don’t have to do this.”
“What’s it matter? I’m going to jail anyways, so what if I kill one more bitch?” The man asked, still aiming his gun at you.
You were forming a plan in your head about how to get out of this situation, the fire could be used to your advantage if you played your cards right, you just had to figure out how to go about it. “You don’t wanna kill me.”
“And why not?” He asked you.
“Cause I’m a cop. I’m a cop and my team is out there. You kill me, you aren’t going to make it out of here alive.” You told him calmly. “I’m your ticket, man. I’m your bargaining chip.”
This seemed to pique his interest because he didn’t shoot you, but he also didn’t say anything.
You could hear sirens in the distance, getting louder and louder, closer and closer. They called in fire. Of course.
You wanted so badly to roll your eyes, the fire wasn’t that bad and you were now worried that it would be 51 and that Kelly would show up, which could prove to be a problem for you. If he showed up and didn’t let you do your thing, it could put both of your lives in danger. You knew he was a smart man, but sometimes he let his emotions get the best of him and didn’t think things through completely.
Your eyes darted out the door towards the street when the fire truck rolled up. You could make out that it was in fact 51, which meant that Kelly would in fact be with them. You just prayed he didn’t do something stupid.
The man moved a step closer to the door. “Don’t think about running, I still got a gun on you.” He reminded you, like you needed reminding.
“I’m not planning on running, I was just thinking about how they’re going to start putting out that fire.” You told him calmly.
He frowned. “Let them, it doesn’t matter.”
“Oh but it does.” You told him, still keeping your cool. “Because once they get that fire out, my team is gonna come in here and take you down. Your time to make a deal is limited.”
This caused him to frown even deeper.
You knew this was a dangerous game you were playing, luckily you were the only hostage so if he got angry under pressure instead of breaking you weren’t risking anyone else but yourself.
You also knew that Voight was gonna have your ass for this if it went south.
The man stalked over to you quickly, grabbing you by the hair and shoving the gun to your temple, forcing you uncomfortably close to the flames. “Hey, you see this? I got one of yours in here!” He shouted out the door. “If you even try to come in here I’ll kill her! I swear to god I’ll kill her!”
You could feel the barrel of the gun against your temple, you could also feel the heat of the fire on your skin. You could smell the smoke and it caused you to cough and gag, you could also smell the man’s BO from behind you which wasn’t helping you at all.
He roughly pulled you back, but before he did you could see Kelly running over to Voight. You could only imagine what was going through his head.
~~~~~
“How the hell did he manage to take her hostage?” Kelly demanded, angry. “Why didn’t you have her back?”
“She was the first one in, he took us by surprise.” Voight told him.
“What do you mean he took you by surprise? Shouldn’t you have been expecting him to do something like that?” Kelly asked him, getting in Voight’s face.
“Step back, lieutenant.” Voight told him, squaring up.
Kelly didn’t back down until Casey and Cruz pulled him back.
“That’s not helping the situation.” Casey told him before looking towards the house. “If we don’t get that fire put out the structure could collapse.”
“We can’t risk doing anything that could jeopardize Y/N.” Kelly told him.
Casey nodded. “I know.”
Everyone on the outside felt like they were at a catch 22, however you felt like you had everything under control on the inside.
~~~~~
“You gotta listen to me.” You told him. “I can help you.” You spoke through gritted teeth, the pain from getting hit in the head and then him yanking your hair was searing and starting to cause a throbbing feeling.
“I don’t gotta do shit.” He replied, although you could see his resolve breaking down, you knew that look. You also knew this could go one of two ways, either he breaks and let’s you take him in, or he breaks and kills you before either killing himself or committing suicide by cop.
You weren’t too keen on waiting for either of those things to happen, and you knew that if he would just loosen his grip on your hair, you could get the upper hand and get the gun away from him.
You could see Kelly and Casey making their way towards the house and you began wondering what they were doing, praying that they weren’t planning anything stupid.
The man seemed to notice as well and it happened to be just the distraction you were looking for because when he turned to them he released his hold on you. “Don’t come any closer or I’ll shoot her!” He yelled at them.
You took this opportunity to grab the gun and push it upwards, away from your head. You grabbed onto his arm and used it as leverage while bringing your knee up to meet his ribs, causing him to go down. You pulled the gun from his grasp and set it on the ground, sliding it away from him and away from the fire.
“He’s down!” You called, pulling out the handcuffs you carried and handcuffing his hands behind his back as Atwater and Halstead came in through the backdoor. They pulled him up to his feet and began shoving him out toward the door. You followed behind them.
By the time you got to the front of the house, which didn’t even take a minute, they had the fire almost completely out.
Kelly walked over to you as soon as you rounded the corner and pulled you into a tight hug, taking a deep breath and inhaling the scent of your perfume, reminding himself that you were okay.
You hugged him back. “I’m fine.” You said, knowing what he was thinking.
He pulled back slightly to look in your eyes and you could see the emotion there.
“I’m fine.” You repeated, softer this time.
He nodded to you and pushed the emotions down. “I saw you take him down.” He informed you. “That was pretty badass, babe.” He smiled at you.
You smirked and shrugged. “What can I say? I’m a badass.”
“A total badass.” Kelly mused, his arm still around your shoulders, pulling you close to him and leading you over to the ambulance to get checked over. You met Voight’s eyes and knew that you were definitely going to get your ass handed to you later on, but right now you didn’t care.
The hospital visit actually went by fairly quickly and then Kelly was taking you home. The ride home was completely silent, and Kelly wouldn’t let go of your hand for anything. You knew what he was thinking.
The minute you stepped inside the apartment, you shrugged off your jacket and hung it up. Kelly headed over to the living room and took a seat on the couch.
You went to the bedroom to change and came out after you changed into your pajamas. You sat next to him and just watched him for a moment. He wasn’t saying anything, he hadn’t turned on the TV, he just sat there staring at a spot on the coffee table.
“Kel.” You prompted quietly, softly, as you reached over to touch his arm.
He finally tore his eyes away from the coffee table and looked at you, they were full of emotion despite his efforts to push his feelings down and bury them. “I almost lost you today.” His voice was barely above a whisper and the shake in it made your heart clench.
“No you didn’t.” You said softly. “I know it didn’t seem like it from the outside, but I actually had it under control.”
“Oh you did, did you?” Kelly asked, scoffing some and shaking his head, starting to stand up.
“Kelly.” You sighed and reached for him but fell just short of being able to.
“No, Y/N.” Kelly stopped you, turning to look at you. “Do you have any idea how worried I was when I saw you in that house, that burning house, with a gun to your head?”
You were tempted to come back with a reply about how you worry about him everyday, but you didn’t, you didn’t want to make this worse.
“I have never been that scared in my life, Y/N.” Kelly told you, completely breaking now.
You had never seen him cry before, which was saying something because you had known him for three years and been together for two of those three years.
You were quick to stand up and walk over to him. “Kelly.” you said softly, reaching out for him, relieved when he didn’t pull away. You cupped his cheeks, gently wiping away the tears.
“I was so scared.” Kelly whispered, looking down. “I don’t know what I’d do if I lost you.”
You swallowed hard. “I’m sorry, Kel, but you know my job’s dangerous just like I know yours is.”
He shook his head some. “You never should have been in that situation. You shouldn’t have gone in first, or at least not without looking to make sure he wasn’t right there.”
“You weren’t there when it happened, you don’t know.” You said quietly then shook your head. “Kelly I don’t wanna fight over this.”
He nodded. “I don’t want to fight either, and I’m not trying to start a fight, I’m just asking you to be more careful. I know you can handle yourself and I know your job is dangerous, but please be more careful. I can’t lose you.”
The sight of him breaking down like this nearly killed you. You nodded to him. “I’ll be more careful, I promise.” You whispered. “Please stop crying, I hate seeing you like this.” You told him sadly.
Kelly swallowed hard and nodded. “I’m just so scared of losing you.” He told you again, pulling you into his arms now and holding onto you like you were going to disappear on him.
You stood like that for a long time, wrapped up in his arms as he calmed down.
Eventually you pulled back and tugged him back over to the couch, pushing him down to sit and sitting next to him, cuddling into his side.
He didn’t complain and just pulled you close once again, kissing the side of your head. “I love you.” He murmured into your head, eyes falling shut. “So much.”
“I love you too.” You whispered back, holding onto him just like he was holding on to you.
“I am proud of you.” Kelly informed you after a moment, looking down at you.
You looked up at him from where you were curled up next to him and smiled at him.
“I don’t want you to think that I’m not, I’m just scared.” Kelly explained softly, his hand rubbing your upper arm gently.
“I know.” You said softly, leaning up to kiss him cheek. “I’m gonna start being more careful, I promise.”
“Thank you.” Kelly whispered and you could see the relief in his eyes as you smiled softly and nodded.

I looked up as the cup of water on my desk shook. My desk mate Charlie looked up as well. “Right out of Jurassic Park.” She commented and laughed at her own joke.
I felt another tremor and looked up again. “Charlie, I think…” Before I could finish my sentence, the ceiling in the corner of the office came crashing down.
“Charlie, move!” I called, pulling her towards me and under my desk, as another piece came crashing down near us. Too near for comfort.
“What the hell man.” Charlie panted, before looking up at me. “Well, perks of being a fireman’s girlfriend.” She commented, patting me on the shoulder.
“Shut up.” I snapped, rolling my eyes at her. “I can’t believe you can still joke at a time like this.”
“It’s my defense mechanism. Y/N, what’s going on?” She was starting to look worried.
I peered out as another block of concrete came crashing down. “I don’t know but we have to get out of here. If the ceiling above us comes down…”
I swallowed nervously, hoping someone had already called 911.
We waited for a while more before I looked at Charlie. “Come on.”
I pushed Charlie out ahead of me, pointing toward the exit among the rubble. “There.”
We crawled out, treading lightly but as swiftly as possible. “Charlie, go!” I shouted, as another piece of concrete came crashing down. Pushing Charlie further towards the exit, I rolled myself backwards, as a sharp pain shot up my leg.
“Y/N!”
Gritting my teeth, I looked up at her through a gap from where I was. “Get out of here.” Charlie hesitated. “Now.”
“I’ll get help! I promise!” Charlie called back as I saw her stumble out.
The pain was immense, I could swear it was starting to feel heavier and heavier. I was almost feeling suffocated, when I heard the only sound of hope.
“Fire Department, call out!”
I took a few deep breaths as I heard them helping people out of the rubble.
“We need to check out that void space before the load shifts.” Kelly’s voice.
My throat felt like it was made of sand so instead of calling, I tried to reach out.
“I found one!” Kelly shouted as he grabbed my hand.
“Kelly…”
“Oh my god.” Kelly crouched down peering in, gripping my hand tighter now.
“Y/N? What are you… I’m going to get you out, okay? Don’t worry. I just need you to relax for me. Can you do that for me please?” Kelly’s voice was the one thing I needed to hold on to.
He looked at me and I nodded.
“I need you to breathe for me, okay? Just breathe.” Kelly repeated, before his eyes shot to Cruz.
“Nice and easy. On my count… One, two, three!” Kelly commanded, as I felt the concrete lift.
“Slide her under, Joe!” I heard Casey spit out, winded as he held up the concrete with Kelly and a few others.
“Good!” Joe shouted, as he grasped my arms and pulled me out as gently as he could.
Kelly came forward, gathering me into his arms. “Come here, come here. Let’s get you out of here.”
I gritted my teeth but a whimper still escaped my lips. “Y/N?”
I looked down. “Kel… My leg…”
Kelly looked down before he glanced at Casey who gave him a small nod. “I got you.” Kelly said, scooping me easily into his arms.
He pulled me closer to him. “Just a bit more, okay?” I nodded, turning my face into his chest as small rocks scattered down upon us. I could feel Kelly lean forward to try to shield me as best as he could.
“Medic!” Kelly called as he stepped out back into the open and gently laid me down on the stretcher.
“Y/N?” Sylvie called out in surprise, pushing the stretcher forward quickly.
“Take care of her for me.” Kelly asked and Sylvie looked back up at him. “You know I will.”
Kelly turned back to me for just a second. “I gotta...”
“You do what you got to do Lieutenant.” I said with a smile and he kissed me on the forehead before hurrying off.
Sylvie quickly brought me over to the triage area. “I think it’s a fracture. I’m going to try to set it as much as I can in the interim before we can get you to the hospital, okay?”
I nodded, “Thanks Sylvie.”
Just as Sylvie finished up, I heard Charlie before I saw her.
“Oh my god, Y/N!” Charlie threw herself at me as I winced. “Easy, tiger.” I chuckled. “I’m fine.”
Charlie gave me a look. “I’m alive.” I corrected before we were interrupted by shouts from the firefighters.
“Everyone, get away from the building!”
I watched in horror as the windows of our office floor broke and smoke billowed out of it, exploding outwards. Everyone ducked as I looked around frantically, hoping that Kelly hadn’t gone back in.
“I’m here, I’m here.” Kelly’s voice was now next to me, as if he had somehow sensed my fear. As another burst came from the building, Kelly ducked low, wrapping his arms around me, to try to shield me from the flying debris from the explosion.
“Casey, report!” Our heads snapped up as Chief’s voice resounded across the yard.
Kelly looked at me and I nodded.
“Kel!” I grabbed at his arm.
“You come back. You hear me? You come right back to me.”
Kelly smiled and squeezed my hand before running off.
I watched the exchange from afar, watching Kelly’s body language, knowing he was ready to jump right into that building to get Casey out.
As Kelly made his way into the building alone, I waited with bated breath, not taking my eyes off the entrance of that building until I saw him come out again, Casey in tow and I let out a breath.
“Hey.” Kelly had come by again.
Without saying anything, I pulled him down into a hug. Being in that scene before the whole building collapsed made the dangers of Kelly’s job even more real.
Kelly stroked my face with his thumb. “Look, I…” I knew he wanted to ride with me but with a building collapse, they still had a ton of things to do, and he was still on shift.
I put my hand up to his face. “I’m fine so I’ll see you later. I’m in good hands. Don’t worry.”
“You’re one hell of a girl.” He responded. “I’ll come by Med later, okay?”
I nodded and squeezed his hand. Kelly bent down, gently bringing me into a kiss.
“See you later.” I whispered, as I watched him jog back to his squad.
---
I groggily opened my eyes, wincing as I shifted my leg, which was now in a cast.
“Hey there.”
I smiled as I registered Kelly’s voice.
“How we doing?” Connor slid open the door of the treatment room.
I smiled back at him. “Heya Connor.”
“How is she?” Kelly asked. Connor nodded his head, “Don’t worry, she has a fracture, but we don’t see a need for surgery. We’ve put it in a cast and it should heal up nicely this way, she’ll just have to come in for another review in a few weeks. She’s just a little sleepy from the morphine we gave her when she first came in. You’re free to go once you’re ready.”
I nodded, eager to get out of here. and Kelly laughed.
“Someone will be in shortly with the discharge papers.” He said, smiling.
“Thanks Connor.” I replied, as he left the room.
Kelly sat next to my bed and took my hand quietly. I watched him for a while before speaking, “Kel, I know it was a rough day.”
He smiled back at me. “I’m just glad you’re okay.” He whispered.
I squeezed his hand. “Right back at you.”
Kelly remained quiet for a while. “Kelly?”
Kelly got up, leaning forward, pulling me into a tight hug. “I have to be... you know… all professional and calm on the job… but when I saw you down there… I-”
I pulled my arms around him. “I know.” I interrupted him, burying my face into his neck.
Kelly pulled away gently, his fingers angling my chin upwards as he pressed his lips on mine, a tender kiss with a silent desperation. I could almost feel all of Kelly’s emotions, his fear that seemed to be spilling over, his relief tinged with the regret he had whenever there were people he couldn’t save.
Gently straightening up, he looked straight into my eyes. “You’re the best part of me, you know that?” He whispered, stroking my face with his thumb. I smiled, intertwining my fingers tightly with his. “I love you too.” I whispered back.

i have a need for more soft plo my dear 💕 how abt “i wanted to say ‘i love you’ for the first time without stuttering, but that failed” with everyone’s fave kel dor? also i love you to the moon and back and am super proud of you
A/N: Yeah that’s right, I’m back mostly fully now and yes I am writing the requests I have! JJ - I hope you like this! I LOVE U TOO! It’s funny to start off with and then goes angsty and then goes super fluffy and is an emotional rollercoaster from start to finish. I was aiming for a little 500 word blurb... it stands at 1.7ish i think 💀
So if you haven’t been reading my Clone Wars Reacts series, you probably aren’t aware that I am a massive simp for Plo Koon (and others characters 🤦‍♀️)and if this is you deciding to read them here’s the link to my masterlist, which has all the parts posted already.
Glimpse
Word Count: 1.7k Pairing: Plo Koon x Jedi!Reader Summary: Anakin running late, an awful sense of foreboding, and one thing that you were yet to say, mixed with a glimpse of a future you couldn’t have. What could possibly go wrong?
Tags for my loves: @peacelandbread @clonewarslover55 @libradusk @catsnkooks @mcu-padawan
The reasons why you agreed to go on a mission on Skywalker seemed to escape you at the moment. His plans, though working occasionally, had the reputation of heavy damage and being absurdly reckless. You did however, enjoy working with Ahsoka, though she could be just as bull-headed as Anakin on occasion. Maybe it was for her sake that you joined the mission?
The plan had originally been for you to lead a small troop of men in quietly, retrieve the data you needed, and then Skywalker would swoop in and distract them so that you could escape. The entry went well, and collecting the data happened without a hitch, but you were spotted on the way out and Skywalker was late. Again. And to make things worse, your comms stopped working a very long time ago.
“If you concentrated on getting out instead of what you’re thinking, we might just survive.”
Ah, that’s why you came on this blasted trip.
“Well maybe if you focused on this, instead of your sarcasm, we may live past the next 10 minutes, Plo.”
You’d known the Kel-dor for many years, almost as long as you’d been a Jedi, but the feelings you had for him were only a few years old, and started shortly after you began going on regular missions with him. He always had put the wellbeing of others ahead of his own, which was frustrating to no end, but endearing all the same. He knew that you had a way of overthinking every situation and very quickly becoming a ‘stress head’, so he always simplified the instructions and looked for the tell-tale signs of you steadily becoming unstuck. Always waiting for the clones to get on board an escape pod, making sure there were enough supplies, somehow always having all the answers and a witty response. It was the little things at any rate.
Like now for example, as you both knelt behind a box, trying to catch your breath, and he was trying to use humour as a way of distracting you from the very real possibility of dying by the hands of a droid.
You stretched up from your crouch and turned to look over the box. Oh shit, there’s an entire battalion of droids just a few meters – oh, and that one’s pointing- oh.
With a sharp tug, Plo pulled you back down, the blaster bolt whizzing past where your eyes had been only half a second ago. Despite not being able to see his eyes and mouth, he still gave you an exasperated expression.
“Be more-”
“I was fine! I saw it coming and I was going to move!” The Kel-dor ran a hand across his forehead, although, at this point he should be used to this type of behaviour from you.
Despite the joking and poking fun, your stomach was sinking further by the minute. As you just realised, if you stepped out, you would surely be shot instantly. A vast majority of the clone troopers had long since been torn apart. Swallowing, you closed your eyes, and leaned back resting your head on the box. There is no way either of you are going to surrender and get captured, but you both were aware of the fact that you likely weren’t making it out of this either.
Your shoulder was burning, and your ribs and abdomen ached, and there was a blaster burn on your leg. Another hand wrapped around your own, and squeezed it tight. Trying to stop shaking, you spoke.
“I – we’re not getting out of this one…” You turned your head and opened your eyes, finding his face. His eyes were turned down at the edges, and his shoulders were slumped the smallest bit. “Are we?”
Plo turned and took a similar position to you, not letting go of your hand.
“We must not think like-”
“Be realistic we-”
“It’s going to be-”
“Don’t- don’t you dare say it’ll be fine-”
“Skywalker-”
“isn’t coming! Or- or if he is, he’ll be too late!” you couldn’t stop your voice from shaking now, stuttering more with every word that came out.  Plo’s head hung and you could see the weight of your words hanging on him.
“At um – at least we’ll go out as we are, teasing the s-shit out of each other, you old man.” He let a laugh drift out of the mask.
“Don’t call me old, youngling.” You laughed back, smirking all the while. If you’re going to die here – if technically you wouldn’t be jedi – your heart raced at the thought. The code was – well if you’re dead you can’t very well follow the code, now can you?
“I- I um I love you.” As soon as it was out, you felt lighter and heavier all at once. His back straightened so fast the back of his head nearly whacked the crate. When he finally turned to you, his brows were sitting much further up on his face than what they had been before, so you traced every corner on his face with your eyes, just in case. His hand squeezed yours tighter.
“I- well I wanted to say it without stuttering, and preferably when we weren’t a few minutes from death, but well- I guess there’s really no time like the present?” He still hadn’t moved, frozen and staring at you. Oh, no. You waved your free hand in front of his face, trying to break his stupor.
“Plo? Are you-”
“I love you too.”
You couldn’t help but smile, your hand moving to his face instead, moving your thumb across his cheekbone. Idly, you noticed that he hadn’t let go of your other hand yet. His hand moved the hair from your face, smudging the ash and dirt also. With a hand on the back of your head, he gently pulled so your foreheads pressed together. Your eyes slid shut, and you concentrated on the feeling of warmth and light that this brought. If this was the last thing you remembered before death, then you would die happily. For now, you savoured the few seconds you had sitting there. You sighed, and opened your eyes.
“I – just-”
“I know.” You pulled away, and despite the happiness of a few seconds before, a sense of foreboding sat heavily in your chest. You swallowed harder, and moved to grab your lightsaber. You grasped it tight, and ignited the glowing blade. Next to you, you heard his blade reveal itself. Your muscles in your legs tensed, and you braced your shoulders. One more time. When you turned to him, he was still looking at you, with a sad expression that rivalled your own. You shuffled so you were instead in a crouch, ready to fight. Might as well go out swinging.
You took a deep breath and steeled your nerves. For a second before you stood, you couldn’t hear anything. When you thought back and remembered it, there was the sound of droid’s legs and chatter, of occasional blaster fire of those who were left, and your lightsaber humming in your ear. At the time, there was nothing. You just kept staring at Plo, hoping that somehow, you’d get more of this, more than 5 seconds.
Faster than a blink, you got a glimpse of a future that could have been. Cold nights on Coruscant, wrapped up in blankets, watching the night sky past by. Daybreak, curled up in each other’s arms, feeling the glow of sun come in. On missions with small troops of trusted clones, being able to be open with your relationship. Sneaking around before council meetings, trying to savour what moments you could before missions. Feeling like young padawan’s again, running around quietly. Visions of you leaving the order, years from now, quoting being unable to stick to the code, Plo following shortly after. Of you building a home, your stomach steadily growing outwards.
And just like that it was over, and you were stuck with a reality of death.
Your throat burned and your vision blurred. Now.
And then Plo’s hand desperately grabbing yours and pulling you down again, a shrill beeping coming from his wrist. Your heart pulsed in your ears and you looked to the sky. Of course.
“Sorry, we were busy dealing with Ventress! How are you holding up?” A scathing laugh burst out of your throat. The droids were falling back, away from your position at the sight of the sheer number of Republic soldiers. You laid back on the dirt, feeling the sun on your skin, soaking up whatever light you could. It was only now that you felt the weight lift, where the light feeling of relief took its place. Plo begun to answer Anakin. You cut him off with a venomous tone.
“We’re a-”
“We’re alive, you’re late, and I am going to kill you, Skywalker.” There was an audible sigh that sounded suspiciously amused from Plo as he made to stand.
“I wasn’t that la-”
“Don’t even finish that sentence.”
Plo’s hand reached down and hovered near your face, though you ignored it and shot up on your own, winding your arms around his neck. He softly grunted as you laughed and the realisations began to sink in. Maker, we nearly died. We were very nearly dead. You nearly had to watch the man you fell in love with die.
Whilst your mind rambled, he pulled apart, and was still brushing the hair from your forehead again. You hadn’t noticed, but he was taking in every freckle, wrinkle and scar you had, like you had been doing to him not too long ago.
You nearly died. Plo nearly died. You almost didn’t get to say – oh, no. You told him. You thought you were going to die and you told him. But now you’re not going to die. And he said it back.
He said your name and whisked you from the spiral. His leathery forehead leant down and pressed against yours.
“I love you.”
Maker, he said it again. You grinned, and pulled him closer. You wanted to say it one thousand times at the top of your lungs, and suddenly the glimpse didn’t seem as far out of reach as it had a few minutes ago.
“I love you too.”

The Bet - (Kelley O'Hara x reader) part 2
So...turns out it won't fit in two parts...so stay tuned. Enjoy!!!
"Okay now I'm really starting to think your stalking me"
Kelley just grins as she rocks forward and back on the balls of her feet, "You didn't think I would forget our date did you?" Ignoring her remark I look at her as I lean against the door, "How do you know where I live? Not even Christen knows where I live".
Her grin, if possible, grows even bigger, "Want to hear something amazing?" She turns and points at the house across the street and two doors down, "That's my house". I pinch the bridge of my nose, "You have got to be shitting me right now". She holds her hand to her chest in mock hurt, "Ouch that hurts! I thought you would be more excited neighbor". She shakes her head, "I was walking down the street gutted that I forgot to ask you for your address to pick you up for our date when you could imagine my surprise when I see you walking into the house down the street from me. It must be fate!" All I do is scoff and roll my eyes while she grins and chuckles at me, "So ready to go on our date? I thought I could show you around cause your new and all".
I bite my lip and sigh, "I can't right now Kelley". Her grin disappears as she scrunches her face at me. But before she could even ask me why a loud voice cuts her off.
"Bells! Who's at the door?"
I sigh as he toddles into my leg and I open the door wider for him to see Kelley who now stands wide eye at the child. He shrinks behind my leg and clings onto my shorts as he peers up at me, "Who dis?" I sigh and pat his head and I motion to the shocked girl, "Peter this is Kelley she goes to school with me". He looks at Kelley his head tilted, "Fwiend?" This seems to snap her out of her revere as she nods crouching down a small bit to talk to Peter, "Yeah I'm a friend of Belle's".
She gives him a small smile, "I was going to see if Belle wanted to come get ice cream with me. Wanna come?" Peter's eyes light up as he tugs on my shorts looking up at me, "Can we?" I sigh as I look between Peter to Kelley who smiles, "My treat". I sigh as Peter gives me his best puppy dog eyes.
The things this kid would do for ice cream
I sigh and nod my head back, "Go grab your shoes". Peter scampers back into the house to grab his shoes while I turn to Kelley who had a curious smile, "Let me just grab my shoes". I quickly slip on my trainers before turning to help Peter put on his own. But I'm beaten to it it seems as I see Kelley kneeling down and helping Peter put on his shoes. "There! All done". Peter flashes her a toothy smile and wraps his arms around her neck in a hug, "Thank you!" Kelley seems taken back before hugging the child back, "Uh your welcome".
Kelley stands up and looks at me watching them, "Ready to go?" I nod grabbing my keys and phone before we leave.  Peter runs a bit ahead of us but stay near enough as we didn't know our way around. "Why didn't you tell me you have a little brother?" But I just shrug crossing my arms, "You never asked". "Well I'm asking now. Tell me about yourself" she says. I sigh, "Peter's my little brother. He's seven and as you could probably tell would do anything for ice cream". I smile as I watch Peter carefully jump over the cracks in the sidewalk always being really superstitious about that, "He didn't like the fact we had to move and leave all his friends but he got over it quickly. He's already making new friends so that's good. Mom works a lot so I'm usually the one looking after him".
Kelley nods her head along and bites her lip, "What about your dad?" I lick my lips and look down at the sidewalk. I guess she senses my discomfort about it as she quickly retracts her question, "Sorry dumb question. You don't have to answer that". I smile in appreciation as she instead nods her head toward the ice cream shop, "Here it is". We walk in and go to the counter where we're met with a worker, "Hey what can I get you?" Kelley goes first, "Can I get Mint chocolate chip please?" I smile, "Can I have strawberry please?" Kelley lifts Peter up so he can see the display case, "What do you want little man?" Peter grins and taps the glass rapidly, "Chocolate please!" The worker chuckles, "No problem".
He starts off with Peter's handing him the tub on the counter which Peter quickly takes. I tussle his hair, "What do you say?" Peter grins, "Thank you!" We all laugh as he happily goes back to eating his Ice cream while the worker makes Kelley and mine. As he puts the two cups on the counter I go to pay for Peter's and mine but Kelley is already handing him the money, "No I can pay for ours". But Kelley shakes her head with a smile, "It's okay it's my treat". I sigh knowing it's too late now anyways to stop her and smiles, "Thanks". She just gives me a big smile, "Want to go to the park near here? We can eat and Peter can run around for a bit". I nod, "Sounds good".
We make the short 5 minute walk to the park and Peter is already off towards the playground but I call him back. I can see him hesitate and looks longingly at the swings before running back to me. I clean the chocolate that was in his face with a napkin, "You know it's supposed to go in your mouth right?" He just shrugs with a big grin making me smile and ruffle his hair again, "Remember don't go to far and I have to be able to see you at all times". He nod and bounces on his feet clearly itching to go. I chuckle and pat his head, "Go play". He takes off towards the swings while Kelley and I sit on the bench and watch him while we talk.
At one point it comes to a lull in the conversation as she just sit there in silence. But it's not weird or anything it's actually comfortable. I watch as Peter swings across the monkey bars as I speak up, "My dad left us".
This gets her attention as she turns her head to me but I keep my eyes on Peter, "I love my mom but sometimes it feels like she's never home. That she loves her job too much". I run my hand through my hair, "And I'm not defending him, he had no excuse for stepping out on our family but I can understand where he's coming from. She was never home basically and I guess he went to go find comfort somewhere else. He knew what he was doing, I knew what he was doing hell I think mom knew what he was doing. He was sleeping around I guess he got tired to waiting for mom to put him before work. But he fucked up and got one of the women pregnant. And just like that he dropped us".
I clench my fist, "It hurt. It hurt like hell. But I could handle it. I was old enough to know what was happening I think I knew it was going to happen eventually no matter how much I hated it. But it was the fact that he just completely forgot about Peter. He would make promises and get him all excited and then bail on him. Until eventually he just stopped. And I was left trying to explain to Peter why daddy didn't want us anymore".
It's quiet until I feel Kelley put her hand on mine, "I'm so sorry Belle". I give her a small tight lipped smile, "It's fine. Wasn't like it was your fault". I sigh and look at Peter happily comes down the slide, "I just wish we were enough for him to stay". She squeezes my hand making me look at her, "You are more than enough. He was just too stupid to see it". I smile as she rubs her thumb over the back of my hand, "Thanks Kel". She gives me a small grin, "Anything for the Princess". I roll my eyes but chuckle as I shove her shoulder, "Shut up Beasty".
She chuckles, "If I'm beast does that make you my Beauty?" "You wish" I grin at her. "Your really good with him" Kelley nods her head towards Peter. "He's my brother" I shrug before turning to her, "he likes you. You were really good with him today". She smiles, "If you were to ask any of the team they would probably say it's because I'm kid myself". I can't help but laugh and nod, "I can see that".
We stay there for a little while longer before Kelley looks to the sky which is quickly darkening, "We better get you home". I nod and stand up, "Peter! Time to go". He quickly jogs over and grabs my hand, "Home time?" I nod and we start walking home when it starts to drizzle.
"Damnit" I mutter as it starts to get heavier and we're still a good bit away from the house. I look down at Peter and he starts to shiver a bit which is understandable seeing as he's only in shorts and a t-shirt the same as me. "Cmon here buddy" Kelley says to Peter as she pulls off her jacket and hoodie. She swiftly zips the jacket up over him which was obviously massive on him but got the job done. She holds the hoodie out to me, "Put this one". But I shake my head, "No I'm fine". But she thrusts the hoodie into my hands, "I'll be fine. Just put it on". Reluctantly I pull on the hoodie as we pick up the pace so we're jogging now as we have to carry Peter as he can't run in the jacket. By the time we make it to the house it's really pouring now as we all filter in the house. I unzip Kelley's jacket from Peter and hand it back. "Thank you!" Peter smiles and Kelley just ruffles his hair, "No problem bud". She runs off into the house while I frown as I see Kelley is soaked to the bone, "Hang on a second". I go to the press and grab her a towel tossing it to her, "Here you can dry off a bit while the rain dies down and warm up a bit".
She nods wrapping it around her, "Thanks". I notice some fly aways stuck to her face and I brush them from her eyes, "You shouldn't have done that. Your going to get a cold now". She gives me a small smile, "It's worth it if the two of you are okay".
I look into her hazel eyes expecting to see her amusement at the joke but as I stare into her brown orbs I see the seriousness behind her reply. It was only then I realize I still had mg hand close to her face and blush and pull my hand away making some space between us, "T-thanks". She hums and looks out the window before looking down at her watch, "I better get home before it gets too late". I frown as I see it still raining outside, "Should you not wait it out a bit longer?" She smirks, "Why? Will you miss me too much?"
I scoff but can't stop the smile on my face, "Not likely Beasty". But she chuckles, "I better get home before Mon worries. You know how they get". Almost immediately she winces at the comment now it's her turn to frown, "I'm sorry that was really-" but I shake her off, "It's okay Kels". She nods and hands me back the towel before going for the door, "I'll see you Monday Belle".
As she opens the door I sigh, "Wait!" She pauses as I grab a pen and take her hand before scribbling on her hand, "Please don't make me regret this". Kelley looks at her hand and grins as she sees the digits while I smile at her, "Text me when you get home so I know you got there safely". She once again flashes me her big smile and zips up her jacket a bit more, "Will do". She seems to hesitate but steps back in and pulls me in for a hug. Once I recover from my surprise I hug her back and I can't help but think how good her hugs are. As she hugs me I realise this is my chance as I slip the money for the ice cream into her back pocket discreetly. She doesn't seem to notice as she whispers in my ear, "See you later Beauty". I can't help but smile as she pulls back, "Bye Beast".
She gives me one last smile before running out the door and into the pouring rain. I watch her for a second before I close the door and go to change out of my damp clothes and into my pajamas. It was only a short while later when I get a message back from an unknown number. And I open it to see a picture of Kelley all snuggled up under her blankets.
Home safe and sound all warm tucked into bed xx
I can't help but laugh and send back a quickly reply before going to check on Peter.
