Even though Arnold Schwarzenegger's body of work is mostly remembered for his action movies, it's worth remembering that he did quite a bit of comedy, too. Twins, Junior, Jingle All the Way, and Kindergarten Cop were all successful films that showed off Schwarzenegger's less serious side. (And yes, we're aware that some would include Batman and Robin as an unintentional comedy.) Kindergarten Cop ranks up there as one of Schwarzenegger's favorite film experiences, at the time of the movie’s release he told us, because he had a lot of fun working with all of the children who appeared in the movie. Kindergarten Cop is available on DVD, Blu-Ray, and most digital platforms.

Fun headcanon time!
After Kindergarten Cop (1990) comes out, Kelso insists he'll be all the kids' kindergarten cop, when they start kindergarten. With varied results.
Kelso (to Jackie and Hyde's kid): I'll protect you. I'll be your kindergarten cop.
Hyde: No, you won't.
Kelso: Why not?
JH's kid (James, in my verse): Cops are bad.
Jackie: Steven! I told you to stop saying anti-establishment stuff in front of him.
JH's kid: The establishment accepted Uncle Kelso. I wouldn't trust it.
Hyde: He's got a point.
Jackie kicks Hyde, in the shins. And Kelso squeals, offended.
*****
Extra: Kelso will attempt Schwarzenegger's accent, too, with lame results.

Arnold Schwarzenegger Is Boffo in Hollywood: The Rise of a Legendary Action Star
Arnold Schwarzenegger’s journey from a small village in Austria to becoming one of Hollywood’s most iconic action stars is nothing short of extraordinary. With his larger-than-life persona, unparalleled work ethic, and indomitable spirit, Schwarzenegger has redefined what it means to be a movie star. His impact on Hollywood is immense, as he has become a symbol of success, determination, and the American Dream. This blog explores how Arnold Schwarzenegger became “boffo” in Hollywood, a term synonymous with box office success and entertainment industry greatness.
From Bodybuilding to Big Screen
Before Arnold Schwarzenegger became a Hollywood sensation, he was already a legend in the world of bodybuilding. Born on July 30, 1947, in Thal, Austria, Arnold developed a passion for bodybuilding at a young age. He trained relentlessly, eventually winning the prestigious Mr. Olympia title seven times, a record that solidified his status as the greatest bodybuilder of all time.
However, Schwarzenegger’s ambitions extended beyond the gym. He dreamed of becoming a movie star in Hollywood, a goal that many deemed impossible for a man with a thick Austrian accent, a difficult-to-pronounce name, and a physique that didn’t fit the traditional mold of Hollywood leading men. But Arnold was undeterred. His unwavering belief in himself and his ability to overcome any obstacle would soon prove the naysayers wrong.
The Breakthrough: Conan the Barbarian and The Terminator
Arnold Schwarzenegger’s big break came in 1982 with the release of Conan the Barbarian. Directed by John Milius, the film was a sword-and-sorcery epic that showcased Schwarzenegger’s impressive physique and commanding screen presence. Conan was a box office success, and it established Arnold as a bona fide action star. The film’s success led to a sequel, Conan the Destroyer, in 1984, further cementing his place in Hollywood.
But it was The Terminator in 1984 that catapulted Schwarzenegger to global stardom. Directed by James Cameron, The Terminator was a low-budget science fiction film that became a massive hit, thanks in large part to Arnold’s portrayal of the relentless, cyborg assassin. His now-iconic line, “I’ll be back,” became a catchphrase that would follow him throughout his career. The film’s success spawned a franchise, and Schwarzenegger’s role as the Terminator became one of the most memorable in cinema history.
Dominating the Action Genre
Following the success of The Terminator, Schwarzenegger became one of the most sought-after action stars in Hollywood. He starred in a string of box office hits that defined the action genre in the 1980s and 1990s. Films like Commando (1985), Predator (1987), Total Recall (1990), and True Lies (1994) showcased Arnold’s ability to deliver intense action sequences, memorable one-liners, and a charismatic screen presence that resonated with audiences worldwide.
Schwarzenegger’s appeal wasn’t just limited to action movies. He also demonstrated his versatility as an actor by successfully transitioning into comedy. Films like Twins (1988), Kindergarten Cop (1990), and Junior (1994) allowed Arnold to show his comedic chops, proving that he was more than just a muscle-bound action hero.
The Governator: A New Chapter
In 2003, Arnold Schwarzenegger took on a new role that was vastly different from anything he had done before — he entered the world of politics. Schwarzenegger was elected as the Governor of California in a historic recall election, serving two terms from 2003 to 2011. During his time as governor, Arnold focused on issues such as environmental sustainability, healthcare reform, and fiscal responsibility. His time in office earned him the nickname “The Governator,” a nod to his most famous film role.
Despite stepping away from Hollywood to focus on politics, Schwarzenegger never lost his connection to the entertainment industry. After completing his tenure as governor, Arnold returned to acting, reprising his role as the Terminator in several sequels and continuing to take on new projects that resonated with his fans.
Arnold’s Legacy in Hollywood
Arnold Schwarzenegger’s impact on Hollywood is immeasurable. He redefined the action genre, setting the standard for what an action hero should be — strong, charismatic, and larger than life. His work ethic, discipline, and determination have inspired countless actors, athletes, and entrepreneurs to pursue their dreams, no matter the odds.
Beyond his film career, Schwarzenegger’s influence extends to his work as a philanthropist, environmental advocate, and motivational speaker. He has used his platform to promote fitness, education, and sustainability, demonstrating that his contributions go far beyond the silver screen.
The Unstoppable Arnold
Arnold Schwarzenegger’s journey from a small village in Austria to becoming a Hollywood icon is a story of perseverance, ambition, and success. He has become synonymous with the term “boffo” in Hollywood, consistently delivering box office hits that have thrilled audiences around the world. Whether it’s through his unforgettable roles in action films, his comedic performances, or his work as a public servant, Arnold Schwarzenegger has left an indelible mark on the world.
As he continues to take on new challenges and projects, one thing remains clear: Arnold Schwarzenegger is not just a star — he is a legend, a true embodiment of the American Dream, and an inspiration to millions. And in the world of Hollywood, there will always be only one Arnold, the man who proved that anything is possible with hard work, determination, and a relentless pursuit of greatness.
