Kelso: I don’t know guys, I don’t know what this feeling is. I look at her and I actually like her as a person. I like talking to her, spending time with her. I can have fun with her without having to have sex with her. I want to get to know her. I want her to trust me. When she tells me to get my hand off her ass I listen to her and don’t do it again. When I see her, my heart skips a beat, I hate seeing her sad it breaks my heart man. What could this mean?
Hyde: It means you finally love someone other than yourself you dingus

BROKEN PROMISES
Tumblr media
title: broken promises
character: steven hyde x reader
warnings: profanity probably I didn't rlly pay attention, mentions of marijuana usage, talking down abt women smh.., jealousy, miscommunication, ZEN MASTERS MENTION
summary: after hyde's fight with your date and his almost admission, nothing had happened between you two. next thing you knew, it was veterans day and someone else had their eye on hyde.
disclaimer: i do not support danny masterson in any way, shape, or form. i just have an attachment to hyde </3 (this is exactly what I said last time I just wanna make sure yall know...)
word count: 2,094
part one
Nothing had happened between you and Hyde since that fight. Your relationship had reached a stalemate.
That didn’t stop you from questioning it.
Your dates had slowly dwindled down, though it wasn’t that you didn’t have options, guys old and new still asked you out, but you couldn’t bring yourself to go out with them.
You wanted Hyde.
Too much to ignore.
Much to your dismay though, someone else had begun pursuing Hyde, someone that you never really could’ve expected. Jackie.
After her and Kelso broke up again because of him hooking up with Eric’s sister Laurie, Hyde had given her lessons on “Zen”. The two’s friendship started to bloom, and Jackie quickly caught feelings.
You couldn’t blame her, and the more you thought about it, they made sense. Despite that, you didn’t like the idea of it. It wasn’t fair, and you knew that, but you just couldn’t help the bitter feelings in your chest when you watched the two.
It was Veterans day, which meant it was time for Red Foreman’s annual party. He was pretty passionate about the day, being a Veteran himself.
Everyone was down in the basement. You were sitting in the chair opposite of Hyde’s, watching as Jackie talked to him while he sat on the washer. “So Steven, isn’t Veteran’s day romantic?”
“Oh yeah, government pawns, and missing limbs. That’s amore.”
“I know, I know!” Jackie placed a hand over her heart. “It’s a day for people in love to have fun together!”
“Man, all this talk of fun makes me wanna have fun… Hey! Let’s throw stuff at other stuff!” Kelso gasped.
Eric perked up, getting off the couch. “Man, that's perfect! I got stuff!!”
“I’m in!”
The two boys went upstairs and you couldn’t fight back your snicker.
Jackie turned back to Hyde. “So, Steven, you wanna go to Mr Foreman’s barbeque with me?”
Before he could answer her, you decided you could not sit and watch this, so, you went upstairs to go throw stuff with Kelso and Eric.
..
You wore a simple (F/C) dress, with your classic jacket. You looked around the front yard, there were a multitude of people that Red and Kitty knew, and a few different people that your friend’s knew, but it was mostly the usual crowd. You knew that Donna’s Dad was having a party, but you liked the Foreman’s house. You’d still stop by though.
You noticed Jackie with a guy you didn’t recognize, and you decided to walk over.
“Everybody, this is Chip, Chip, this is everybody.” Jackie motioned around to the people in the area, that being you, Fez, Kelso, and Hyde.
“Hey everybody.” Chip nodded at you guys.
“Yo.” You nodded, glancing over at Hyde. He looked.. Grumpier than usual. You felt your insides twist, and a brief sense of dread.
Chip told Jackie he’d grab her a drink, then went off. You watched as Jackie walked over to Hyde and you sighed a little, walking over to Kelso and Fez.
Kelso had his arms crossed over his chest as he huffed. “Man, this isn’t fair! Why does some random dude get to bring Jackie to the party?!”
Fez grumbled. “She could do soooo much better.”
You let out a breath. “Right? But it’s just to make Hyde jealous, so chill.”
“That’s not cool though, man!” Kelso whined. “I thought Hyde liked you!! So what’s goin on?!”
“I did too.” You sighed, watching Jackie and Hyde’s exchange.
..
After a little bit you saw Jackie get up, leaving Hyde and Chip alone to talk. You weren’t sure how it went down, but when you passed by, you heard Chip speak.
“She’s a bitch.”
You paused, turning around. Using your context clues, you figured he was talking about Jackie, which pissed you off. You were almost ready to give him a piece of your mind when Hyde said, “Oh no..” And he hit him.
You squeaked, jumping back from the two. “Holy shit!”
Jackie ran over. “What happened?”
“Somethin– Bitch– He–” Hyde looked between Jackie and the very knocked out Chip.
Jackie looked between them before gasping. “He– He called me a bitch and you hit him!”
“...No.” Hyde stared at her, very obviously lying.
“I am the bitch! And you love me!” Jackie looked like she had actual stars in her eyes and you could feel your heart crack. Did he love her?
You needed to get out of there. Maybe a date, maybe something, anything–
“L/N!” Kelso huffed, nudging you.
You blinked. “Huh?”
You looked around, realizing it was night time and you were outside somewhere?
“Get your head in the game, man!”
You remembered now. After talking to Kitty, Hyde came outside and asked Jackie out. Kelso and Fez were upset, and you.. Were hurt. Somehow, some way, the two boys had managed to convince you to spy on Jackie and Hyde’s date. Did you have a momentary lapse of judgment? Probably. But there was no backing out now.
The three of you snuck through the trees, eventually arriving right behind Jackie’s car, where Jackie and Hyde were sitting at the front of it. Their backs were to you, and you couldn’t hear them.
“What are they saying?” Fez tilted his head.
“Don’t worry, I can read lips.” Kelso stared at the back of their heads. “Jackie’s saying.. Wow I really love this date, Hyde!” He put on a high pitched voice for Jackie. “And Hyde’s sayin.. Yeah, totally man, I agree.”
Fez gasped. “Really? They’re having that much fun?”
You put a hand over your mouth, trying to conceal your laughter so as to not get caught. “Kelso, I don’t think that’s what they’re saying–”
When you looked back up though, Jackie and Hyde were leaning in..
You felt your heart drop.
You could’ve thrown up on the spot as you quickly stood up.
“L/N!” Kelso whisper-shouted at you, but you couldn’t sit there. You’d seen all you needed to see.
What you didn’t see though was how when Hyde and Jackie parted from their kiss, neither of them were into it. They gave it a shot, but it didn’t work. In his head, Hyde knew why. He had you in the back of his mind. He had been trying to ignore it for months, playing it cool like he always did, but that wasn’t working. He didn’t like you any less than he did before.
As it turns out, it might’ve been too late.
..
You were going on a date. For the first time in months, you were thinking about a guy that wasn’t Hyde.. Or, well, trying to.
Loyal to your old routine, you were heading to the Foreman’s house to wait for your ride. Your outfit wasn’t much different than your usual ones, but you did look a little done up.
“Hey, L/N.” Donna nodded at you, a lazy smile on her face. Everyone looked pretty high.
They were passing around the blunt, Hyde being the last one who had it. “Wanna hit?” He raised a brow.
You shook your head. “Wish I could, but I’m only gonna be here for a sec. I have a date.” You hummed.
“Really?!” Jackie gasped, looking over. “You haven’t been out in months!”
“Yeah, thought you were giving up the whole meaningless date thing?” Eric tilted his head, looking over at you.
You shrugged, shoving your hands in your jacket pockets. “I was, but, I don’t know. Guess there’s not really a point.” You side eyed Hyde in a way that you thought was sneaky, but unbeknownst to you, he saw it.
Your glare made him sit up a little straighter. He’d seen you when you were mad, but it had never been directed toward him before. What’d he do to piss you off– And more importantly, what did that have to do with you going on a date again?
Kelso looked at you. “Oh heey– By the way, are you good, man? Yesterday after we were watching Jackie and Hyde you ran off and we didn’t see you after!!”
“I told him that you probably had to go to the bathroom.” Fez nodded, sinking into his chair.
You immediately went pale. “Ahah– Yeah, uhm. My bad. I didn’t feel well. But, wowie, jeez, look at the time I gotta go– Bye!!” You quickly called out, going right back out the way you came.
Hyde put his hand over his mouth, mumbling. “Shit..”
It made sense now. You saw him and Jackie, and based on what Kelso said, didn’t stick around long enough to hear how it ended.
What didn’t make sense was why you would care. Why would it matter if he kissed Jackie?
Unless…
Shit.
..
You had been gone for about two and a half hours. Everyone dispersed, and Hyde couldn’t help but be reminded about the night you spent together months prior. This time though, he planned on changing things.
He paced around outside, hoping that the guy you were out with would drop you off the same place he picked you up.
Lucky for him, he was right. A nicer car pulled up, and you got out, exchanging a few words with whoever was in the driver’s seat.
You were happy with the date. It wasn’t anything extravagant, and you didn’t really like the guy, but he was nice, and it was fun. You were planning on just walking home before you heard your name being called. And not your last name, which is what everyone called you. It was your first name. It sounded foreign from that voice.
You had turned around, tilting your head before your face dropped. You didn’t want to talk to Hyde. In the back of your head you knew you didn’t have any place being mad at him, but you were hurt.
You blew out a breath. You just had to act like you didn’t care. Easy. “What’s up?” You shoved your hands in your pockets, looking at him.
“Can we talk?” He walked up the driveway, standing in front of you.
You winced, talking being the exact opposite of what you wanted to do with Hyde. “I don’t know, I need to head home–”
“L/N.” He stepped a little closer. “I just wanna explain what happened between me and Jackie.”
You froze. Of course he knew.. After what Kelso said earlier, there was no way he didn’t know.
You blew out a breath. If you couldn’t play it off, you needed to try to fix things. “Listen, Hyde, you don’t need to explain yourself. It’s fine, you like Jackie, she likes you, and it’s cool.”
“L/N–” He ran a hand through his curls, taking off his shades.
You didn’t see him without his sunglasses very often, and it always caught you off guard when he’d take them off.
“I don’t like Jackie.”
You blinked, tilting your head. “What? But I saw you guys kiss on your date–”
“You didn’t stick around long enough. If you would’ve stayed, you would’ve seen that the kiss didn’t mean anything. There– there wasn’t anything there. No sparks, no feelings, it was just.. A kiss.”
You listened before furrowing your brows. “Okay, um, that’s, okay.. Why are you telling me this, Hyde?”
“Because I like you.”
You felt a heat creep up your neck all the way to your cheeks. “What?”
“I like you. I– I don’t know when it happened, but I know that a few months ago when you spent the night I realized it. And, it’s not a big deal, but it sorta seemed like you might.. I don’t know. If you don’t like me, it’s cool, but it was starting to feel like you do.”
You stared at him. He liked you. But what about your promise? What about the possibility of ruining your friendship? A messy breakup could start bad things in your friendship. But…
Could you ever forgive yourself if you didn’t at least give it a chance?
You looked down, your cheeks growing redder by the second. “I uh.. I like you too.”
Before you knew it you felt hands on your cheeks, tilting your head up. “Could I..”
You nodded, the motion being so small it was almost unnoticeable.
He closed the space between you. The kiss was gentle, sweet, a result of years of denied pining. Then, it turned deeper, more passionate, the tension between you finally bubbling over the edge.
It was everything you wanted, the perfect kiss for a perfect moment.
Maybe some promises were meant to be broken.

I love the scene on 06/13 where Hyde is giving advice to Kelso over Fez and says Jackie met someone better over time — him.
He says he throws it in Kelso’s face as often as possible and honestly, this needs to be a fic. Like a bunch of different times throughout the years of Hyde reminding Kelso she picked him.
And how cool it would have been to see 🥺

Master List <3 Request List <3 That 70s Show Master List
Stephen Hyde x Reader
A/n: Sorry that this is a lot of 'blank' said whilst doing 'blank' but I'm not used to doing mostly dialogue but I really wanted to try to get the characters across well, as always any criticism or requests are needed lol. Also I feel like this is obvious but I still want to state that this fic is purely because I love the character and I do not in anyway support the actor.
Summary: Your desperate to find a date for the school dance but Hyde's desperate that you don't
Warnings: Kissing, making out, smoking, drinking, mentions of being drunk and getting high, kinda oblivious Y/n
Word Count: 1949

(NOT MY GIF)
"What's wrong with you?" Hyde asked, taking my attention away from the beer can I was staring at.
"Hm? Nothing." I smiled at him and lent back into the sofa.
Kelso was sat next to me, his arms lying across the back of the sofa and behind my head.
Jackie was sat on Kelso's lap, playing with his hair with a love sick smile on her face despite him looking straight past her at the tv.
Donna was sat by the door. Eric stood behind her, wandering back and forth casually before leaning on the back of her chair again.
Fez was sat on the floor leaning his back on the sofa, sat between mine and Kelso's legs. He was happily eating some candy I picked up for him before I got here whilst watching the TV as well.
As per usual Hyde was sat on his chair, he was leaning forward with a beer can in one hand and rolling paper in the other.
"You have been unusually quiet." Donna said giving me a look.
"Wow am I really that loud usually that when I'm quiet for five minutes everyone thinks somethings wrong?" I asked with a chuckle, fiddling with the can I was holding.
"Yes." Eric said with a laugh "now what's wrong."
"No it's stupid don't worry." I said, shaking my head.
"Yeah I was expecting it to be stupid before I asked, I braced myself before." Hyde said with a smile, rolling a blunt on the table in front of him.
"Y/n just tell us so they will stop talking on the TV!" Fez said whilst shaking his head, giving me an annoyed look before turning his attention back to the cartoon.
"Fine. No one's asked me to the school formal yet, I guess I'm just a little bummed out about it." I chuckled slightly at how pathetic I sounded and glanced around at my friends.
Hyde laughed and shook his head "Yeah you were right that was stupid."
"Awe Y/n I'll go to the dance with you." Kelso said putting his arm around my shoulders with a grin "Your smoking hot, we'd photograph well together" He winked at me before Jackie hit him hard in the chest.
"Michael! We're going to the dance together!" Jackie looked at him with offence and stormed out of the room.
"Well she never asked me." Kelso said, rolling his eyes and following after her. "Jackie wait! Your smoking hot too!"
"Dumbass." Eric said with a laugh, taking a seat next to me on the sofa as he watched his friend run out of the room.
"Don't worry about the dance Y/n I'll be your date!" Fez said smiling up at me from the floor.
"It's okay Fez I want to go with someone who's into me not just a friend." I smiled back at him, taking a handful of candy to pick at myself.
I glanced over at Hyde, he was too focused in beginning to roll another blunt that it didn't even seem like he was listening anymore.
It's not like I liked Hyde or anything, we've been friends for as long as I can remember.
But over the last couple years we'd gotten so close that sometimes I'd convince myself that maybe there was sometime else there.
I'd never risk our friendship like that though.
"What about that Austin guy that you've been seeing?" Donna asked, quirking an eyebrow at me.
Hydes head shot up at that, suddenly interested enough in the conversation to take his sunglasses off.
"Austin? As in football player Austin Jones? Since when the hell have you been seeing that jerk?" He asked, putting down the perfectly put together blunt he'd just finished.
"We've hung out a couple times, I had to tutor him for extra credit in history and we just started going out to get food after." I shrugged at him and gave him a confused look as he pretended to be sick.
"That guys a fucking loser, he's head of the anti-drugs club at school, why the hell would you wanna be seen with him?" He said shaking his head.
"He's nice, and he needs to be in that club to be the head footballer." I looked back over to Donna, shrugging Hydes over reactions off "I thought he liked me but he still didn't ask."
"Well why don't you ask him? Why should you have to wait around for him to pluck up the courage to talk to you, go ask him yourself." She said leaning forward, obviously cutting herself off from beginning another feminist rant.
I bit my lip and thought for a second before nodding "You know what, I think I will." I smiled at her and lent over to give her a high five.
She nodded enthusiastically, obviously proud of herself "Hell yeah."
"Yeah whatever, we gonna light these baby's or what?" Hyde asked with a small smile, holding up the two blunts to the group.
~~~
I opened the door to Eric's basement to be met with Donna Kelso and Jackie all sat on the floor in front of the sofa watching some new stupid show, Donna's face lighting up seeing me since she wasn't alone with the two of them being grossly 'in love' anymore.
I threw myself down onto the couch behind them with a sigh, causing the three of them to turn around.
"What's wrong?" Donna asked, patting my back.
"Austin said he doesn't want to go to the dance with me, apparently he doesn't like me like that." I frowned at her and sat up with another sigh.
I knew I was being dramatic, he was just a guy after all and I wasn't really that into him but it still stung.
"Awe I'm sorry." Donna said, giving me a pitied look.
"Now I'm going to have to be the only one alone. You'll have Eric, you two have each other, Fez will probably show up with some weird girl he finds ten minutes before the dance starts and Hyde has the love of his life, Mary Jane." Donna laughed slightly and shook her head at me as I continued rambling "I thought he really liked me, I mean we've made out in his car like ten times."
Jackie left Kelso's side to sit next to me and give me a hug "Oh Y/n I'm sorry, men are pigs."
"Hey what about me!" Kelso asked defensively.
"Pigs!" She responded kicking him lightly. "He was too popular for you anyway. You'd do better with a more indie guy like Hyde or that guy who sits in the back of the library at lunch and rips the poetry books. Not a jock."
"Thanks Jackie, you always find just the right things to say." I said, causing Donna to snort and Jackie to beam, the sarcasm flying straight over her head.
"I know what might've happened!" Kelso said with a smile, looking proud of himself.
"Oh this'll be good." Donna said with a smile, getting up to sit in Hydes chair.
"Well after you guys left last night me and Hyde were drinking and Eric drove us to Fatso burger where we bumped into Austin and Hyde like totally threatened him." Kelso said, smiling as the rest of us looked at him with a mixed expression of shock and confusion.
"What do you mean threatened him?" I questioned him but before he could respond the door opened as Hyde walked in.
"Hey guys what's happening?"
"You threatened Austin?" I asked standing up.
"What no?" He looked caught out, obviously lying, his voice crack just highlighting the fact.
"Kelso just said you did last night, what did you say?"
"Y/n I can't even remember I was so drunk last night, I didn't even get to school until after lunch I was so hungover."
Kelso jumped up with a smile "I remember! You said that if he even thought about going to the dance with Y/n you would run him over in the Visa Cruiser and score a touch down with his decapitated head."
"Ew." Jackie said with a disgusted look.
Donna chuckled slightly before shaking her head. "Dark dude."
Hyde punched Kelso in the arm before pinching the bridge of his nose in annoyance.
"Ow dude what the hell!"
"Hyde why would you do that you knew I wanted to go to the dance with him, is this some kind of stupid prank or something because it's not funny. I'm upset." I said, furrowing my eyebrows as I frowned at him.
"Y/n can we talk about this somewhere else , away from these bozos."
Is nodded and followed him out to Eric's driveway, sitting on the hood of the Vista Cruiser as Hyde stood in front of me.
"Y/n he's just not a good fit for you!" He said running his hands through his hair with a sigh.
"Why not! He's a nice enough guy, he's smart and athletic. As Jackie keeps mentioning he's popular and attractive why wouldn't I like him." I shook my head at him, not even trying to withhold my annoyance.
"Y/n his favourite band is Boney M, you love Zeppelin and Aerosmith. He's anti drugs and you smoke at least three blunts a week. He likes sports and you've never sat through a game in your life, he won't even take you out on an actual date you just grab food and make out in his car. You deserve better than that."
"Well I haven't got anyone better than that, and I liked him. Plus that wasn't your decision to make!" I crossed my arms in annoyance, watching him pace back and forth.
"I'm your best friend I was just looking out for you, you deserve someone you have something in common with."
"Like who!"
"Like me! I wanted to ask you! Goddamnit." He looked away from me, anxiously and awkwardly shifting around.
"You wanted to ask me? Stephen I appreciate it but I wanted to go with a date not a friend." I stood up next to him, pacing my hands on his shoulders to still his movements.
"God how oblivious are you?"
"What do you mean-"
Before I could finish the thought his lips were on mine.
He kissed me softly, bringing his hand up to the side of my face.
Once the shock of the action cleared I kissed back, going up onto my toes to reach his height with a smile.
He pulled back after a second, keeping the closeness between us and his hand on my face.
"Oh. I get what you mean now." I said, feeling my cheeks get hot as I laughed lightly.
"Oh really?" He chuckled and smiled down at me "Will you go to the dance with me."
"Yes you idiot I will. Although we should probably go on a proper date first, if that's what you want of course."
"Yeah, I'll take you on a nice date somewhere. We can do this properly, take it slow and all." He said with a shy smile.
I nodded and we stood in silence for a second before we both lent into each other again, wanting to kiss.
He lent down to deepen the kiss and I smiled against his lips as he shifted me back to lean against the Vista Cruiser.
"Um sorry to interrupt guys but I have some many questions about what ever this is. And why the hell are you doing it on my car! Get off!" Eric yelled from behind us, forcing us to pull away from each other with smiles plastered across both of our faces.
"Sorry Eric."
Holy cow, you are going through these requests super fast. Woah! Also congrats on graduating. So am I. This isn't detailed at all but maybe a graduation fic with Hyde or Kelso. You can do whatever you want with it.
Proud of You (Steven Hyde X Reader)
Masterlist
Request Something!
Summary: Hyde never cared for school or big events that didn’t revolve around him getting wasted. But he always shows up for his favorite girl.
A/N: congrats on graduating to you too!! Also, reader is in Jackie’s grade. Also number 2, even though i write for hyde I DO NOT SUPPORT THE ACTOR!!! kk that’s all, hope you enjoy :) F/f means favorite flower
***
You loved your boyfriend; you really truly did. But part of you didn’t believe Hyde when he told you he would be in the front row of your high school graduation. He didn’t even show up to his own graduation! You expected him to forget and find him sitting in his chair in the Forman’s basement, watching some stupid show with the guys.
You still kept your hopes, though. Steven Hyde could always surprise you by showing that he cared. Besides, even if he didn’t come, your other friends would surely show up to see you and Jackie walk across the stage.
But as you sat in the overcrowded, echoey gym, all you could think about was making sure you didn’t miss your name being called by the class president. It was hard to focus with all the camera flashes and cheering families.
“Y/n L/n.” You stood up at the call of your name and moved through the chairs and up the stage. You heard cheers from the crowd of friends and families but couldn’t differentiate any of the voices. Grabbing your diploma and shaking the principal’s hand, you looked out to the audience. Unable to see anyone clearly, you shrugged and returned to your seat.
The ceremony felt like it went on forever. The names and claps seemed never-ending, but after God knows how long, caps were thrown, and you were released to meet with your families. Your family got to you before you could reach the bleachers. You were showered in affection, congratulations, and flowers.
So many flowers.
“Mom, you’re smothering me.” You laughed as your mom crushed you in her embrace and continuously kissed your cheeks.
“I don’t care. My baby graduated!” She took your face in her hands and peppered your forehead with more kisses. Your dad had to pull her off of you, whispering that you should go while you had a chance. As much as you loved your mother, you took that chance.
Speeding off, you looked all around to see if you could find any of your friends. It was an easy task; Kelso was a giant, so you were quick to find him smothering Jackie with affection while the rest of your friends surrounded them, clearly grossed out.
“Hey!” Donna spotted you first, bringing you into a hug before passing you around to everyone else. “We were starting to wonder where you were.”
“Mom got emotional.” You laughed as Eric patted your head, telling you, ‘Good job.’ Everyone else gave you the same sentiment, except for one. The one you were looking forward to the most. “Hey, where’s Hyde?”
“That’s weird,” Fez said, looking around the room. “He was just here.”
“Yeah, he’s around here somewhere.” Using his height advantage, Kelso searched through the crowd. His eyes lit up in recognition somewhere behind you, but he quickly turned around as if someone was telling him to look away. A few seconds later, you felt an arm around your shoulders, bringing your back to a familiar chest.
“Hey, Doll,” Hyde whispered in your ear, kissing the side of your head. “Congratulations.”
You squealed in delight, turning around in your boyfriend’s arm to hug and kiss him.
“I’m kind of surprised you’re here.” You looked down at the hand that wasn’t holding you. “With flowers.”
“Of course, I’m here, Y/n.” Hyde handed you the bouquet of F/f, making you thankful that you passed all the flowers you had already gotten to your dad before you ran off. His now free hand threaded through the hair at the back of your hair and brought you forward so he could kiss the top of your head. “I always show up for my girl.” You grinned.
“I’m so glad you came.”
“I’m proud of you, Doll.” Hyde leaned down to whisper into your ear. You could practically feel the smirk on his lips. “Maybe we should find an empty classroom so I can show you how proud I am.” You laughed, trying to ignore the heat rising in your face.
“Oh my gosh, shut up.”
Two things, which have probably been spoken about but since I’m rewatching T70s, I thought were really neat about Jackie and Hyde.
1. While Jackie hangs out in the basement in seasons 1 and 2, the group constantly asks her what she’s doing there
Tumblr media
she’s an unofficial member of the group but not really a part of it,
Tumblr media
more like Donna’s friend or Kelso’s girlfriend
Tumblr media
it’s only when Hyde defends her presence
Tumblr media
and inducts her into the circle,
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
which they deem sacred
Tumblr media
and takes her under his wing that I think she actually transitions to being one of the gang.
2. Obviously, Hyde willing to go to jail for Jackie isn’t underrated but I really love the argument they have before he gets arrested because the last thing he wants is for her to become someone else and as much as he doesn’t like her, he actually also really cares about her
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
which we’ve seen in the past
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
but also the way he says “no you don’t!” here
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
I don’t know, before, when he’s shutting her down, it’s about how much he doesn’t like her, how much she annoys him
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
but when she insists that he’s cool and he’s sweet, it’s like this resistance to the pressure of being liked, even when they go out in season 3 after he defends her he’s like
Tumblr media
so every time I watch it I always get this sense of Hyde being like, not necessarily “I’m not good enough” but “I’m not the one you should have these expectations for, you can find someone else, anyone else” and I always found it vaguely heartbreaking but also really cute that when that same sentiment comes up when they’re together
Tumblr media
he embraces being “This Guy” in other ways, such as shaving his beard.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Anyway.
Was this what happened when someone looked upon the true form of a God? Were they fully unprepared for the sight before them? Was that the true test, to see something so unfathomable and horrific and still find it... "Beautiful," you muttered. "God...Eddie, you're beautiful."
(Excerpt from As Above, So Below Chapter 6: Revelation)
A commission from the lovely @toomanyacorns. Or, more accurately, PART of a larger commission by Kelso, just needed to do a little fast hand photoshop magic because it contains a huge spoiler and only a few people know about it. And I will be creating a V2 post once we get there (not long now).
BUT! Our brave Knight and her lost love in his monstrous form.
This one has been a long time in the making and once again Kelso drew this with only a few sentences of a description, almost no other references besides the art that she drew herself . I know a lot of AASB came from my brain but she honestly did a lot in shaping some of the imagery in this story with her wonderful imagination and skill and I cannot thank her enough for her talent and her friendship.
In and beyond canon (headcanons!); Red/Kitty and Jackie/Hyde parallels (and differences).
The parallels:
*Hyde gets a motorcycle, and Jackie rides it with him (even though she complains).
*Jackie can be a bit overbearing, as a mother. Not in a babying mother hen way, but in a "I know what's best for you" kind of way.
*Hyde detests church, as does Red, but Jackie goes often. Unlike Red, he rarely goes (see the political differences, down below).
*Hyde, like Red, is particularly protective of his daughter. He aggressively confronts a wayward boyfriend, just like Red did with Kelso.
*If his daughter dates a Kelso/someone like Kelso/a general dumbass, he'll call him a kettlehead. Or a dumbass.
*It's revealed in canon that Kitty and Jackie were both cheerleaders, and both care about social status. They both drag their significant others and kids to various social events, and they all protest.
*Both Red and Hyde are very introverted. Red moreso, but they don't want to do a bunch of stupid shit. Other than going to car shows, and for Hyde, he wants to go to some cool concerts, too.
*Both Hyde and Red like Sinatra.
*Usually, unless it's a moral thing, Hyde and Red will cave to Jackie's and Kitty's demands.
*Hyde and Red both prefer to stay bottled up, emotionally. Jackie and Kitty coax it out of them.
*Hyde and Red get Jackie and Kitty to think. Hyde, in particular, challenges Jackie to get out of her bubble.
*Both Kitty and Jackie take forever to get ready. Red and Hyde wait.
*Both Kitty and Jackie love to organize. Closets, parties...
The differences:
*Jackie's a terrible cook. Hyde cooks.
*Hyde is far more liberal. Red is far more conservative.
*Eric and Donna live next door to Jackie and Hyde, but they aren't much of a Bob and Midge, other than Hyde and Jackie finding them to be annoying sometimes.
*Kitty gets almost all of Red's clothes. Jackie only does this when it comes to formal wear. They both buy all the kids' clothes, too. Donna buys almost all of Eric's clothes, though.
look i've got nothing for you except farah and alex would be the nurse and doctor powerhouse couple. farah is a GREAT doctor, alex is SO excited to support his beautiful wife as her favourite nurse. (alex takes her last name. don't fight me, you know he would. he's thrilled when they get introduced as dr and mr karim at fundraisers/award ceremonies)
soap and gaz causing chaos as interns and being FANTASTIC for patient morale but taking the losses hard when they do lose someone.
price and simon being the attendings that mentor them. simon wanting to put soap through a wall half the time (soap wondering exactly how unethical it would be to punch simon and then kiss it better), price bragging about how gaz is his little angel (until gaz does something incredibly stupid/heroic).
nik as kelso. need i say more.
If I were to ever write an angsty fic about my beloved Jackie:
-lots more depth and angst about what goes on in her home. Maybe Pam being passed out 24/7 and Jackie’s father physically rarely being there and when he’s there, he’s emotionally unavailable
-adding on with Pam, she’d be a lot more problematic- constantly making comments about Jackie’s “flaws” and trying to get with Kelso and maybe even Hyde when Jackie is dating them
-Jackie’s need to be perfect would be examined a whole lot more and she wouldn’t lose her love to be academically gifted- even go as far as being valedictorian for her class or for more drama be tied with someone on the cheer squad for it
-Pam Macy would be one of few main antagonists that is shown more frequently
-Kelso and Jackie’s breakup would be a lot crueler
-I do believe Jackie has some eating disorder and it’s pretty much canonly proven so that would get further examined
-her friendships and relationships in general would be wayyyyy more angsty. Her cheer team would be a lot more cruel to her
-Hyde and Jackie would have a better enemies to lovers arc (maybe, it’s pretty good now)- there would be more scenes of just the two of them together and how they build their relationship
𝐘𝐎𝐔 𝐋𝐈𝐊𝐄 𝐆𝐈𝐑𝐋𝐒?
jackie burkhart x fem!reader
summary : jackie confesses to you her feelings
The gang has known about you being a lesbian for a long time now, and when Kelso brought the pinky sassy cute Jackie Burkhart to the group you fell in love but of course you didn’t tell anyone that beside Donna cause you know you could trust her
You sat on your bed being home alone you were bored so you were just making bracelets when Jackie barged in “jeez Jackie knock god” i rolled my eyes standing up going behind her to close it turning to her “whatever y/n anyways me and michael broke up again” she started ranting “shocker” i clicked my tongue walking over to my bed cleaning up my bracelet mess “well i think i might have a crush on someone else…in the gang” she stated biting her lip nervously waiting for me to answer “oh well who? is it hyde” i asked scared of her answer
“no it’s actually..you” she grabbed my cheek pulling closer connecting our lips together moving them in sync. Still kissing i pushed her on my bed getting on top of her “I’m so happy you said that Jackie…your so damn hot” i panted running my finger through my hair before going back down for her neck leaving hickeys down from her neck to her boobs “oh god y/n” she moaned throwing her head back
a/n : hope you enjoyed
What are your least favorite seasons for each of the main characters? Season 8 doesn't count for obvious reasons.
Hi! 😀
I'm going to start with favorite then least favorite (because I totally misread your ask 🙈).
Favorite
Red: Season 1.
Red's still gruff but more complex. He demonstrates his love and compassion for Eric directly in "That Wrestling Show" and "Grandma's Dead" without being emotionally constipated about it (that's a term I use for Hyde, too 😂). Same with Hyde in "That Disco Episode" and "Career Day". But he still does so in-character. After S1, the writers replied down on him being a hardass. Perhaps some humor was gained, but more was lost imo
Kitty: Season 2
Kitty shows her strengths and vulnerabilities this season. She is the sole breadwinner while Red's out of work and supports him through his emotional crisis about his joblessness. She becomes depressed at Eric's growing up (i.e. when Eric and Donna begin their sexual relationship).
Eric: Season 2
This choice was a little tough for me because I love how good a friend he is to Hyde in season 1 and how strong he is in season 5. But in season 2, he must learn to balance his ego, his insecurity, and his wants vs. respecting Donna and their relationship. Unfortunately, he doesn't learn the lesson fully enough.
Donna: Season 3
Donna grows in independence this season while her relationship with Eric remains an important part of her life. Eric's insecurity and resultant controlling actions ultimately push her away. I stead if pushing her anger (and wants and self) aside to protect Eric's ego, she finally puts herself first in a non-selfish way --
Except for her utter disrespect of Eric in "Backstage Pass" (which is the accumulation of her understandable resentment of him for trying to control her and hold her back; story-wise, it makes total sense and is completely set up for by the writing all season).
Jackie: Season 5
Jackie grows and changes significantly in this season. From bossy to communicative. From living in a superficial fantasy to appreciating the depths of reality. Hyde encourages her independence and ability to take care of herself financially as an adult -- and thus encouragement happens before she's forced by her parents to be financially responsible for the family's estate as a minor (her parents left her without any kind of adult guardian, family member, godparent, nothing).
She discovers her true strengths but overcorrects. She has to (re)learn how to let people support her.
Hyde: Season 2
Hyde's protectiveness of and support for Jackie in this season is e v e r y t h i n g . He starts helping her not because he likes (he doesn't and finds her personality abrasive) but because she's heartbroken and vulnerable and he believes helping her is the right thing to do.
Kelso, of Hyde's best friend, is not only responsible for Jackie's emotional state but also punishes her after she refuses to accept him back as her boyfriend. Hyde not only tries to get Kelso caught by Jackie, he also teaches her a method of protecting herself from bullying -- making himself more vulnerable to her by doing so (i.e. sacrificing some of his own mental-emotional safety for Jackie's).
Fez: Season 1
Fez isn't a joke but a complex character who's emotionally insightful. He's someone who's learning how to fit in with his American friends and sometimes overshoots. He doesn't yet suffer from Nice Guy syndrome and genuinely treats Jackie with kindness. He has the awareness and respect not to try to steal Jackie's affections for himself, despite believing he could.
He calls Kelso out on his bad behavior. His bond with Hyde is well-written, too.
Kelso: Season 6
Kelso demonstrates the most growth and change in this episode -- where Brooke is concerned. He leaves Jackie and Hyde alone now that he's interested in someone else (a selfish, self-interested release). He's still selfish with Eric and Donna, taking their toys without permission and destroying them. He tries to sabotage Eric's waiter job at the Holiday Hotel out of a sense of entitlement.
He doesn't reciprocate any of the friendship and support he's given except at the very beginning, trying to undo the damage between Jackie and Hyde he's partially responsible for.
All of that being said, he works hard at maturing for Brooke to prove himself a worthy romantic partner and father. He chooses a stable, albeit potentially dangerous, career. He respects Brooke's boundaries (although he does try to push them a little), and he ultimately lets Brooke and his child go because he believes that's what's better for them: his most unselfish act in the show.
Least Favorite
Red, Kitty, Hyde, Fez: Season 7
These four are almost unrecognizable from their canon selves in too many episodes. Fez is the worst written of the four. He's reduced to a punchline and punchline giver -- and his disrespect for women a d female friends is firmly cemented. (This transformation began at the end of season 4.)
Kitty is devolved from her intelligent, compassion character to a dumbed-down, alcoholic whose fear at Eric growing up and leaving home is transmuted into hostility and resentment toward Donna (but this transformation began in season 5).
Red is changed from someone deeply in love with his wife and has eyes only for her; has no interest in other women sexually, to the point of feeling guilty and scared when a teenage girl hits on him despite all his efforts to turn her away; to someone who acts like a put-upon husband in a terrible marriage, finds joy (and possible lust) in posing with two much younger car models.
Hyde goes from someone clearly deeply committed to Jackie in seasons 5 and 6 to someone who is now commitment-phobic, disrespects Jackie utterly in "Winter" and after she graduates high school. Breaks promises to Jackie. Shrugs instead communicating with her properly. This Hyde is incompatible with seasons 5-6 Hyde except in a select few episodes where he's written in-character (e.g. "On With the Show").
Jackie: Season 4
Jackie vacillates between being supportive of Kelso's potential success and utterly jealous and resentful of it (and him). She chooses her love for Kelso over money, tolerates his lazy approach to finding a job, gets a humiliating job herself -- and while her envy at his modeling gig is understandable under all the circumstances, her treatment of him is unacceptable.
Kelso: Season 5
First, I have to talk about his behavior in season 4, which leads to his behavior in season 5. Kelso's misogyny hits an all-time high in the second half of season 4, as does his hypocrisy and sense of entitlement. He makes a false equivalency between Jackie's one kiss with Todd, which she is tricked into and tells Kelso about almost immediately, to his months of sleeping with at least two other girls with no intention of ever telling Jackie about it.
He also, hypocritically, tries to see Donna's breasts while he and Jackie are in a relationship.
He becomes paranoid and possessive, stalking Jackie at work. He blames his cheating on Jackie's supposed mistreatment of him. But the specific incident he cites is never shown on-screen nor spoken about in season 1 when he first cheats on Jackie with Pam Macy. He claims men cheat "out of joy" while women cheat "out of hate" and that "girls don't even enjoy sex".
This attitude and behavior carries over to season 5. Where in season 4, Kelso is decent to Jackie during the first half, he's awful to Jackie (and Hyde) throughout the whole of season 5. While he's allowed to sleep with whoever he wants, Jackie's "allowed" only to pine for him in perpetuity and get occasional sex from Kelso as a consolation.
Upon learning Jackie isn't going to abide by Kelso's controlling, narcissistic, self-entitled rules for her life and, instead, found joy with someone else -- worse, one of Kelso's friends, he dies all he can to destroy her happiness. Not because he's in love with her but because of his wounded pride.
Kelso feels humiliated that Jackie is in a happy, fulfilling relationship with Hyde. This fact translates into Kelso's mind into other people believing he's not the hottest, most sexually skilled man in Point Place. Therefore, he must "steal" Jackie back to prove he -- not Hyde -- is the hottest, most sexually skilled man in Point Place.
The above, coupled with Kelso's possessiveness of Jackie, feelings of entitlement toward her, and misogyny, renders season 5's Kelso a completely unlikeable and unsympathetic character. He should've been kicked out of Eric's basement long before season 5, but Kelso's behavior this season -- in the real world with the friends he has -- would have clinched his ousting from the group.
Donna: Season 4
While I understand Donna's character development in this season, and believe much of it is set up well by previous seasons, this is my least favorite season for her. She is in an incredible amount of pain. It makes her self-destructive but also outwardly hostile. She jumps into another committed (for her) relationship rather than talking the time to heal herself.
Donna disregards Eric's own grief to distract herself from her own ("The Relapse"), with no regard -- or care -- that this might deepen Eric's grief. Only her feelings matter to her in this episode, and it's written as if the audience is supposed to agree with her.
Dating Casey is a way to narcotize her grief. But she bullies Eric with Casey. She snaps at Hyde and rejects his friendship when he tries to protect her. She agrees with Casey's rapey advice to Fez about Rhonda.
Yet, as I wrote above, much of her behavior is grounded in the show's previous seasons. As much as I dislike how she acts, I believe most of it is in character because of the specific stressors she's under. It's a shame T7S's writers didn't give her a chance to self-reflect on her season 4 choices and gain emotional clarity from them (beyond, "I was so stupid!")
ACQUIRED TASTE
Pairing: John Dorian x reader Summary: The story of how JD and the reader ended up together. Warnings: none. Just fluffy. My poor attempt at a Dr. Cox rant.
• • •
It could be said that you had unique taste. Maybe even unusual taste. At least, that's what Dr. Cox, Dr. Kelso, Laverne, Mrs. Sullivan—hell, even The Janitor—had all told you. It wasn't the way you dressed, or wore your hair, or the music you listened to. That was all fairly normal. In fact, most of your interests were as ordinary as they came. Still, your most acquired taste was that of your peculiar boyfriend: the one and only John Dorian.
JD had been there for you in your first year as a medical intern. He was only a few years ahead of you, and you'd been one of the newer interns while he was in his last year as a resident. One time in particular, patient had coded. She was a sweet elderly woman that you'd grown unnecessarily close to. Even though she'd been your patient, you froze when you heard the flatline, and it wasn't until Dr. Dorian got there that you felt like you could breathe again. It was always easier to handle things when there was someone more experienced in the room. He let you run the room, and pronounced Miss Fleming dead at 7:02pm. Afterwards, he'd reassured you that you'd done your best, and there wasn't anything else you could do. To your great humiliation, he noticed the few tears that rolled down your cheeks, and he had scrambled to give you the crinkled, brown, cafeteria napkin he had in the pocket of his scrubs. It managed to pull a smile out of you, and from that point forward he was your go-to guy whenever you had a question.
It was only fair. JD was brilliant, and more than approachable. Dr. Cox and Dr. Kelso were terrifying, and you got the sense that Dr. Reid didn't like interns very much. Or maybe it was just you that she didn't like. Carla was loving and supportive, but she always seemed like she had enough on her plate, and didn't need you adding any more on.
That left JD. You'd called him Dr. Dorian at first, until you heard some of his friends refer to him by the two letter nickname. And one day you finally mustered up the courage to ask if you could call him that as well. He gave you a crooked smile and enthusiastically informed you that you could, and that he'd love nothing more. After that, JD wasn't just a superior, but a friend.
He made your first few years a whole lot easier. It was nice having someone around that you could always go to with a question or an emergency, and who always seemed to have the right answer. Furthermore, he was always eager to help, and it was a lot easier to ask him than the surly Dr. Cox or the neurotic Dr. Reid.
As for JD, he loved playing the hero. He'd never understand why Dr. Cox got so irritated when interns asked for his help. JD loved it, he thrived on it. And sure, maybe he was a little extra helpful when it came to you. But, really, who could blame him? You were attractive, fun, kindhearted, and smart. It wasn't his fault that when you asked him for help, out of all people, it made his heart flip.
Which brought you to a few weeks ago. By now, you'd settled in quite well. You were in your final year of residency and you'd gotten to know the hospital like the back of your hand. Stop by the nurse's station and say hello first thing every morning or there'd be hell to pay, always be in the cafeteria before or after the lunch rush to avoid getting trampled, don't ask Dr. Mickhead about his wife, don't take Dr. Kelso's insults to heart, and avoid the Todd at all costs. Beyond that, you'd made friends with JD's gang, a title that you'd given them in passing which the namesake had latched onto and refused to let go of. Carla had stayed just as maternal as ever, Turk was supportive and surprisingly wise, Elliot was still wary of you but warming up every day (even if her hands never did), and JD, of course, was JD.
He was handsome, witty, goofy, and sensitive, with his heart eternally in the right place despite the countless missteps he might've taken. John Dorian was nothing short of the guy of your dreams, even if he had no romantic feeling towards you in return. Or so you thought, anyway.
Carla had been telling you for months to just ask him out but you always had a reason not to. He was busy, or you were busy, or he wasn't interested, or Dr. Cox was hounding you, or you thought you saw JD flirting with the cute radiology nurse, or you were too young, or he saw you like a sister, or you didn't know what Carla was talking about at all. JD? Who's JD?
"For the love of God, just ask him!" Carla groaned, feeling the wall of composure she'd carefully built up start to crack. She'd had about enough of your and JD's endless pining. If it kept up like this for much longer, she was about to take matters into her own hands. "If you don't, I'm gonna ask him for you because I can't take your weepy looks and his dreamy sighs anymore."
"Absolutely not," you shook your head, picking up a random chart to busy your eyes with. Mr. Simmons in room 201; classic case of gastroenteritis. "If I ask him, he'll just say no. And then I'll have to quit being a doctor and move to Costa Rica. Or just kill myself, whatever's cheaper."
Carla rolled her eyes but a smirk danced on her lips. "Oh please, he's had it bad for you since you were an intern. He's not gonna say no."
"I'm not asking JD–" you began to say, having intended to finished that sentence with 'out on a date.' But you found yourself very grateful that you didn't get to finish your sentence when you registered what the interruption had been.
"Ask me what?" JD wondered, strolling into the waiting room where you and Carla stood talking by the desk. The two of you faced him, her with an expectant and irritated look on her face and you, white as a sheet with embarrassment. When no one answered, JD's overactive imagination filled in the blanks and he asked with a giddy look, "does somebody need a date to the zoo?"
You and Carla both shook it off, used to his daydreaming and odd idiosyncrasies by now. Before you had a chance to answer him, however, Carla jumped in, "(Y/N) has a question to ask you but she's too scared."
You glared at her but she only met you with a swift, "you're welcome," and sauntered back behind the desk.
Turning back to face JD, you saw his eyebrow raised, and you felt yourself start to sweat. You knew you had to give him a question, but for the life of you, you couldn't bring yourself to just pull the ripcord and do as Carla said.
"(Y/N)?" He prompted, "why are you scared? You know you can ask me anything."
God, you wanted to swoon and die right there. Damn that crafty nurse for putting you in this situation. You quickly shook your head and came up with a lie, "um, Mr. Simmons, he's presenting with abdominal cramping but I just can't figure out why."
Carla slammed a stack of charts down on the desk, causing you and JD to jump. She glared you down for a second before shrugging innocently and saying, "oops, my bad."
"Alright, well, let's have a look at the guy," JD answered you, recovering quickly. You nodded and handed him the chart. As you expected, he diagnosed Mr. Simmons immediately. But luckily for you, your goofy prince didn't question you for not knowing something so simple. You didn't know if you should feel comforted or offended. Didn't he think you were a good enough doctor to figure it out, yourself? Maybe he knew it was a cover and he was just being kind. Maybe he knew... oh god, maybe he knew you liked him and that Carla was trying to force you into asking him out and he was sparing your feelings by not blowing your cover and–
"Oh, for God's sake, Candace, if you stare at her any harder you're gonna wear a hole in her face," came the harsh, unmistakable voice of Dr. Cox, gearing up for one of his famous rants. "Now, I know you like to be the little spoon, but one of these days you're gonna have to just put on your big girl pants and ask her to the prom, o-kay?"
Your cheeks burned red, and by the time you turned to look at JD, he was gone.
"What did you mean?" you quickly asked Dr. Cox, heart beating out of your chest. "About the prom and all that?"
"Oh my goodness, shorty, you can't possibly be that oblivious. You just can't," he shook his head, staring down at you with disbelief.
"Can you cut to the chase, please?"
"Oh, tou-chy. I guess you like her back," he teased and held a hand up to cover his mouth as he pretended to giggle. Just as suddenly, he dropped the act and crossed his arms, "look, seeings as you are somehow a doctor and ya do have people's lives in your hands, I'm gonna go ahead and assume there's just no way you haven't caught on to Newbie's little crush on you. I say 'little,' of course, when I mean very big. Very very very big. Humongous, even. So big, that when Jordan asks me how those new jeans make her ass look, I say, 'Newbie's crush on (Y/N).' And, of course, I assumed that you knew all about said crush but you were just ignoring it because the thought made you nauseous in places you didn't know you could be nauseous. But now, I'm thinking you got so wrapped up in your own big scary feelings that-cha didn't even notice his, am I right?"
All you could do was nod. Awestruck and a little intimidated.
Dr. Cox made a sound between a growl and a groan and huffed out, "and now I'm nauseous." He grabbed a chart and swept out of the room in one fluid motion.
Carla met your eyes across the desk, satisfied grin playing on her lips. You just mumbled, "I gotta go find JD."
As you fled the room, you could hear her call after you, "I bet you do!"
-----
You finally found him in the break room, staring up at the TV and not really watching. He was holding a pillow close to his chest, face buried into it to the point that he almost couldn't breathe. He didn't hear you enter the room so you had to announce yourself.
"JD?" you started.
He jumped and threw the pillow, startled. "Hey," he drawled and spoke your name, causing your heart to skip. There was an insincere laugh in his words, "about that thing that Dr. Cox was talking about, that thing he said... about the–"
You cut him off, "will you go to the prom with me? I mean– crap. Not the prom. I don't think there even is a prom. There's no prom! Forget the prom!" You took a deep breath and sighed heavily, wiping a hand down your face. Finally giving in, you figured it was better to just tell the truth, "JD, will you go out with me?"
He paused and everything was silent for a long while as he just looked at you. After a moment, that crooked smile lifted up his mouth and he said in a low voice, "I'd love to."
And that brought you to today. You and JD sat across from each other at a small round table in Coffee Bucks. You giggled about crazy patients and crazier coworkers, feeling lighter than you ever had in your life. JD leaned in for a kiss and you swore you tasted mango and soap on his lips. Definitely an acquired taste.
Interstellar Overdrive
This is the Hyde truth serum one. This is a space AU and all the sci-fi elements are mostly explained in the writing. The timeline of the show is the same, but they live in space. This takes place in the very beginning of season 5, with some minor changes.
TBH I don't think I had a plan for this fic beyond the truth serum scene. I don't know where this was gonna go after that. But the build up is fun! This is chapters one and two, which is all I had written.
Word count: 2,825
Pairings: Hyde/Jackie, Eric/Donna
1 - Boyfriend
1979Deep SpaceThe Formans’ House
Hyde forced himself not to smile when Jackie giggled, her nails dragging lightly over his scalp. He continued pressing soft kisses to her neck. They were fooling around on the couch in the basement, like they had been all summer. Hyde was enjoying it. He wasn’t ready for it to end when Kelso got back from whatever planet he and Donna were on.
“Steven, that tickles,” she said breathily, squirming underneath him.
He couldn’t help it. He smiled and gently bit her, then moved up a little to kiss her fully.
One of her hands left his hair and trailed down his abdomen. Her fingers hooked in the waistband of his pants, slowly dragging over his skin. His breath hitched.
Her fingers were poised over his belt buckle when they heard the creaking of the stairs down to the basement. They quickly separated and tried to look normal. Hyde grabbed a Universe magazine from the table.
Forman sat down in Hyde’s usual chair, looking put out. Fez sat in the lawn chair. “This summer sucked,” Forman said.
“Of course it sucked, you didn’t do anything,” Hyde pointed out. “My summer was great.”
Forman frowned. “You haven’t done anything either!”
“Yes, he has,” Fez said. “Every time I want to hang out with him he is with a girl somewhere. I am sick of it.”
“What girl?” Forman asked.
“Yeah, Steven, what girl?” Jackie asked.
“None of you know her,” Hyde said.
“Boring.” Forman tapped his foot. “I wish I had someone to fool around with.”
“Call Donna,” Jackie said. “You know she’s probably up for it.”
Hyde nodded. “Unless she met a perfect robot guy on Calaria.”
“She doesn’t date cyborgs, the robot part makes her uncomfortable,” Forman said. “But she could have found a human guy to replace me.”
“She’s not going to replace you. She loves you. Now, go send her a transmission or something,” Jackie said.
“Oh, I’ll help you, I love picking out the little pictures to send in the messages,” Fez said.
“You really think she still loves me?” Forman asked.
“I know she does. She won’t shut up about it during our calls.” Jackie flipped her hair over her shoulder.
Forman smiled. “I’m gonna go send her a transmission. Let’s go, Fez.”
The two of them got up and rushed up the stairs. Once the door was closed, Hyde turned to Jackie. “That was close.”
“Yeah, it was.” Jackie bit her lip. “I’m… I’m kind of sick of hiding this thing between us. It’s annoying having to check to make sure no one’s around and everything.”
“So… what, you want to break it off?” Hyde really didn’t want to break it off. He actually wanted to be her boyfriend. He’d been falling in love with her ever since their very first date on Galactic Veteran’s Day.
“No!” Jackie said, too quickly. “No. I like being with you. I, um… I know you don’t do girlfriends, though.”
“Well… I think I could make an exception. For you.”
She grinned. “Are you serious?”
“Yeah. I like you.”
“I like you too!” She quickly closed the distance between them and kissed him. “And I’d really like to be your girlfriend.”
“Really? What about Kelso?”
“What about him? We’re done forever. I don’t love him, and I haven’t loved him for a long time. He can just deal with it when he finds out. I’m allowed to move on, it just happens to be with one of his closest friends.”
“So, you wanna tell everyone?”
“If you’re okay with that.”
“Yeah. Then we won’t have to sneak around.” He smiled a little. “All right. We can tell the losers about it later. Right now… Can we continue what we were doing before they interrupted?”
Jackie nodded. “Let’s go to your room. Boyfriend.”
He chuckled. “Come on, weirdo.”
Jackie giggled as they went back to his room. He had a good feeling about having a relationship with her, strangely.
Eric and Fez were walking down to the basement. They’d sent a transmission to Donna yesterday, but they’d gotten no response. Eric had told his mom to let him know if they got a message back.
“I hope she’s okay. She's probably just out, right?” Eric asked.
“I’ve told you three times already, yes!”
Eric shook his head and went down the stairs to the basement. He stopped short. Jackie and Hyde were on the couch, making out. Their legs were tangled together. “What the hell?”
They parted the kiss but stayed tangled together. “What?” Hyde asked, turning to look at him.
“You’re making out with the devil, that’s what!”
“It was hot,” Fez said.
Hyde and Jackie grimaced and separated from each other, sitting on the couch normally. Eric sat in Hyde’s usual chair and Fez sat in the lawn chair. “Are you two together?” Eric asked.
Hyde draped his arm around Jackie’s shoulders. “Yep.”
“For how long?”
“Since yesterday,” Jackie said. “But we’ve been fooling around for almost three months.”
“Three months? And you’ve kept it hidden?” Eric wasn’t all that surprised that he hadn’t known. He hadn’t been around very often. But it was still shocking.
“Yeah,” Hyde said. “Jackie’s the chick I’ve been fooling around with all summer. Then we got sick of hiding it.”
“No, we decided that we like each other a lot and we wanted to be together officially,” Jackie said. Hyde nodded.
Eric furrowed his brow. “Hyde, you actually like her? Romantically?”
“Yeah, get over it.”
He shook his head. “No, I refuse to believe that until I see it.”
His mom came down the stairs, bending down to look at them from the top of the stairs. "Donna sent a transmission back! And stop picking on Steven for having a girlfriend."
"You knew about Jackie and Hyde? Wait, wait, Donna." Eric ran up the stairs, the others close behind.
The five of them crowded around the transmitter. Eric pressed the button, and the message came up on screen.
DONNA: Eric, we were kidnapped. We were taken by some mysterious ship. It's just me and Kelso. You need to save us before I murder him.
"Oh my God!" Jackie exclaimed. "Kidnapped? We have to go!"
"Where would we go? We don't know who took them," Hyde pointed out.
Jackie gave him a look. "We still have to go and find them!"
"Wait, Eric, does Donna still have the location ring you gave her?" Fez asked. "The ring could send location signals so you could find each other."
"I doubt it. But it's worth a shot." Eric ran upstairs and got his own ring, which was paired to the one he'd given Donna. Jackie and Kelso had similar ones, but Jackie had thrown hers into a black hole. He went back downstairs and pressed the center of the ring down, sending a location signal.
Jackie grabbed Hyde's hand tightly as they waited for the signal. After a few minutes, they got one back. A small hologram appeared out of the ring. "The Kenosha Belt! That's not too far from Planet Place, we can get there quickly," Eric said.
"There's an asteroid field between here and there," his mom said. She frowned. "Oh, just be careful. I'll tell Bob. You four go. Wait, I'll make you some sandwiches to take with you. Oh, and a first-aid kit."
"Mom," Eric whined.
She put her hands on her hips. "You still need to be safe. I will be quick." She rushed into the kitchen.
"I can't believe they got captured," Eric said. "Who would even do this?"
"I don't know, man," Hyde said. "But we'll kick his ass." He clapped Eric's shoulder. "It's gonna be fine."
"Aw, Steven, you're so motivational!" Jackie crooned, hugging his arm.
Hyde frowned. "No, I'm not. Shut up." Jackie just grinned and kissed his cheek.
"See, what kind of boyfriend tells his girlfriend to shut up?" Eric asked.
"The kind who's only been a boyfriend for one day, give me a break." Hyde left the room, following Eric's mom to the kitchen.
"Guys! Our friends are kidnapped!" Fez said. "This is not the time to be fighting about relationships."
"You're right," Eric said. "I'll get the ship ready."
~
Donna groaned internally. She was stuck in a small, gray room with Kelso. All she had were her clothes and the things in her pockets. She was incredibly glad she'd been missing Eric that morning and had decided to keep the ring he'd given her in her pocket.
"They're gonna come save us, and Jackie will be so glad I'm not dead that she'll take me back right away! We'll do it the second we're alone," Kelso said.
"Or they'll come save us and Jackie won't take you back because you're a dirty bastard."
"Shut up!" the guard snapped at them from the small window in the door.
Donna rubbed her forehead. "I hope Eric gets here soon."
"Me too. Just so I can prove to you that Jackie still wants me."
She groaned again, burying her head in her hands.
~
Hyde sat with Jackie in the back row of the Vista Spaceship. Her fingers were drumming on his thigh. He wasn't sure if it was a nervous habit or if she was being a tease.
"Asteroid coming up," Hyde said, pointing to a small space rock out the windshield.
Forman turned to avoid it. "You don't have to point out every asteroid, Hyde, I can see them."
"Just making sure, man." He leaned forward a little. Jackie started to move her hand from his thigh, but he grabbed it with his own hand. He glanced at her to make sure it was okay before he laced his fingers through hers. He leaned forward again, towards the front row. "What's the plan once we get there?"
Forman shrugged. "I don't know. Find Donna and Kelso?"
"We will have to get on the ship that captured them first," Fez said. "We will infiltrate the ship, then begin our search. Once we find them, we take out the bad guys and get back to the Vista Spaceship, which we will take home. And then we will all laugh at Kelso because Hyde stole his girlfriend."
"Great plan," Hyde said.
"It's good enough," Forman said.
"Eric, asteroid," Jackie said, pointing to another rock floating towards them. Forman turned around it.
"You two are made for each other," Forman muttered.
~
"Oh, that looks like a ship that would take Donna and Kelso," Fez said.
Up ahead was a foreboding flat ship, floating leisurely among the debris from the nearby asteroid field. Eric nodded. "I'll find a place to land, I guess."
He found a clear expanse of space on the outside of the ship and landed the Vista Spaceship. Eric handed out masks to everyone so they could breathe until they got inside. They got out and started searching for the entrance.
Jackie put her hands on her hips as she walked across the top of the ship. "So, what are we even looking for? Some kind of door or-" She screamed as she got sucked into the ship.
Hyde and Fez rushed over. "Jackie!" Hyde called out. "Are you okay?"
"I found the entrance!" she called back.
Hyde went in after her. Fez and Eric followed. They landed in a barren hallway. It split off in two directions.
Hyde helped Jackie up from the ground. “You good?” he asked.
“Yeah, I’m fine. The ground’s not as hard as it looks.” She smiled. “It’s sweet that you were worried about me.”
He gave her a look and changed the subject. “There’s two hallways, what do we want to do?”
“Uh… Split up and look for clues?” Eric suggested.
Hyde smirked. “Sure thing, Scooby. Jackie and I will take the left hallway. Send a signal or scream really loud if something happens.”
He and Jackie went down the left hallway. Eric turned to Fez. “Let’s go, I guess.”
They started down the right hallway. It seemed like no one was around.
At the end of the hallway, the paths converged. Eric looked around the corner to see if Jackie and Hyde were on their way. They were walking hand in hand down the hall, slowly. Jackie tugged on Hyde’s hand and he turned to her, his back to Eric.
Eric’s shout was muffled by the piece of cloth placed over his mouth as someone grabbed him from behind. The person dragged him away, and he felt his consciousness slipping as he breathed in through the fabric.
2 - Truth Serum
Jackie pulled Hyde to face her. “What’s the plan when we find them?”
“You sound very confident in us.”
“Of course. We’re great, of course we’re gonna find them. What are we gonna do when that happens?”
“I’ll kick ass and you help Donna and Kelso?”
Jackie smiled. She opened her mouth to say something, then a door opened behind her. Donna’s voice came from inside. “Help! Someone help!”
“Oh my God!” Jackie turned and rushed into the room. Hyde followed her.
As soon as they entered the room, the door shut behind them. Someone grabbed Hyde from behind and pushed him into a chair. Restraints came from the back of the chair and wrapped around his arms and torso. He struggled against them, trying to see who had captured him.
Someone in a dark cloak forced Jackie into a similar chair across from him. She kicked at the person, but none of her kicks landed.
Once the two of them were restrained, two cloaked figures stood between them. “Who the hell are you people? And where's Donna?” Hyde asked.
They removed their cloaks, and Jackie groaned. “Casey? Why the hell are you here?” She looked at the other guy. “And I don’t even know you.”
“I am Tomas. I was an exchange student. Hyde and Fez left me on the rings of Michigan. I am getting revenge.”
Hyde chuckled. “That was funny.”
“Not to me,” Tomas said.
Hyde looked at Casey. “What about you? Why are you here?”
Casey shrugged. “I got nothing else to do, and Jackie’s not seeing my brother anymore so I figured I could get in on that.”
Hyde narrowed his eyes at Casey. “Yeah, about that, she’s my girlfriend, dillhole.”
Casey raised his eyebrows and smiled. “So, Jackie Burkhart is slumming it with Steven Hyde.” He looked at Jackie. “You could do better.”
Jackie glared at Casey. “What do you freaks want, anyway?”
“Tom, bring it out,” Casey said with a sinister smile.
Tomas brought out a sleek black box. He set it on a table between Jackie and Hyde. Casey opened it up to reveal a syringe and vial of bright green liquid. “Truth serum,” Casey said.
“And what are you gonna use that for?” Hyde asked.
“We’re gonna have some fun, Hyde.” Casey waved his hand at Tomas, who took out the syringe and filled it with the serum. Casey turned Hyde’s arms so that his veins showed, then Tomas injected the serum into his blood.
~
They all waited a second for something to happen. “See, you morons can’t even get truth serum right,” Steven said. “Nothing even-” He cut himself off and blinked a few times. “My head feels weird.”
"Steven, are you okay?" Jackie asked.
"I'm, um… I feel fine." He giggled. Jackie had never heard such a sound come out of his mouth. "I feel great."
Casey furrowed his brow. "Tom, man, how much did you give him?"
"Double dose. I wanted to make sure it worked," Tomas said.
"You moron, that's too much!" Casey groaned. "Whatever. This'll still be fun. When'd you start dating Jackie?"
"Yesterday, but I've liked her a lot longer than that. And we've been fooling around for months." Steven closed his eyes and smiled. His words started slurring. "You know, she tastes great."
Jackie felt heat rush to her cheeks. "Steven!"
He opened his eyes and looked at her. "What? It's true."
Casey smirked. "And how long have you liked Jackie?"
Steven giggled again. "Since we went out on Galactic Veteran's Day. That's when I started falling for her."
"Aww," Jackie crooned. "That's so sweet!"
Steven smiled at her. "Jackie, you wanna know something? I'm in love with you."
Jackie's smile dropped, even as a thrill went through her body. "What?"
"I love you. You're the first girl I've ever loved."
Casey laughed. "This is better than what I expected."
"Steven, I am going to kill you if this isn't true," Jackie said.
"Of course it is true, he's on truth serum," Tomas said.
Steven giggled again. "This is fun, man. Jackie, isn't this great?"
"No! Ugh, this is so not how I wanted your first love confession to go."
Steven smiled, an infuriatingly cute smile. “You’re so cute when you’re mad. Like an angry kitten.”
Jackie glared at him. “How long does this last?”
Casey grinned. “We’ll find out.”
The Playboy's Comfort (Michael Kelso X Reader)
Masterlist
Request Something!
Summary: When you found out that Hyde cheated on you, you were left destroyed. When you need some help, you’re surprised by how comforting Kelso can be.
***
You knew what you were getting yourself into when you first started dating Steven. You knew about the alcoholic mom, the abandonment issues, all the things he tried to make unknown or seem unimportant by covering it with aloofness and weed.
But it was all so worth it once you got him to open up, past a friend level. He was sweet, in his own rough way. He let you wear his band shirts, saying so people knew you were his. But really, he just loved seeing you in his clothes. Your designated spot in the basement went from the end of the couch to his lap, because according to him, the view of the TV was better. But you knew it was because he liked being close to you. And you always sat in the passenger seat of his El Camino, even if someone else called shotgun. Everything felt perfect, except for one thing.
Steven seemed to have a problem with you and Kelso hanging out. It was fine if the whole gang was around, because then Steven could smack Kelso if he tried anything. You didn’t really understand the jealousy. Even though Kelso was always flirty, you two were just friends. But you just dealt with it. It was a little difficult, considering you and Kelso were close friends before you even started dating Steven, but you just went along with it. You didn’t want to start a fight over Kelso, of all people.
You were alone in the basement, waiting for your boyfriend to come home. He was working at the hotel during some kind of nurse convention. You both knew he’d be busy with it for the next few days, so he promised he would come home for his lunch break to spend time with you today. You were excited. Even though he made decent money from working in the kitchen, you saw him less than you used to. But today, he was stopping by the Hub, and you two would be enjoying crappy and greasy food soon.
“Oh, thank god you’re here.” A voice wept as someone busted open the door to the basement. It surprised you to see Kelso looking distressed. “You’ll never believe what just happened.”
“Kelso, are you okay?” You set the random comic you were reading down just in time for him to launch himself onto the couch, head in your lap. He curled up, looking scared. “What happened?”
He sighed, building up the courage to tell you what he just experienced. He mumbled something into your thigh.
“Say that again. I didn’t hear you.”
“... Fez had a sexy dream about me.”
You had to stop yourself from laughing. The sentence was so ridiculous, yet so believable.
“Oh?” That was all you could say without breaking down giggling.
“He said I was sponge-bathing him in a nurse’s outfit.” You exhaled through your nose to calm yourself down. But when you looked down, all amusement left. Kelso seemed genuinely traumatized. You sighed, combing a hand through his hair, which seemed to calm him down a bit. “Promise you won’t tell anyone. Especially Hyde. He’d never let me hear the end of it.”
“Kelso, it’s not that bad.”
“Y/n., I’m serious.” You rolled your eyes, but you supposed he had a point. Steven would hold this over Kelso’s head forever.
“Okay, fine. I promise I won’t tell anyone. Especially Hyde.” You continued stroking his hair.
“You’re the best, Y/n.”
***
It was the next day. You hadn’t seen Steven at all. He missed lunch with you yesterday and you never heard anything about a reschedule. But you knew that he was working today, so you decided to stop by. Maybe work was so hectic that he had forgotten that he was supposed to meet you for lunch. If all the nurses were like Kitty when she got a drink in her hand, you’d understand him missing your little get-together.
You went to the back of the hotel, where the staff parked. You knew he was here because you saw his El Camino in his favorite spot. God, how you loved that car.
You walked to the back door, about to open it, when it almost hit you in the face. You took a quick step back and saw Steven. His chef coat was balled up in his hands, and he was wearing his sunglasses. He looked surprised to see you.
“Hey.” He was uncharacteristically quiet.
“Hey, Steven. You missed our little lunch date and I haven’t really seen you, so I wanted to check on you. Are you on your break?”
“Uh, yeah, I am. I actually wanted to talk to you about something.”
“Oh, okay. Wanna sit in your car?”
“Sure.” The two sat in the El Camino. You could sense something was wrong with Steven, but you couldn’t think of what it could be.
“So…” You dragged the word out. Not getting the hint that you were waiting for him to talk, you got to the point. “What did you wanna talk to me about?”
He took a deep breath and took off his glasses. His eyes were red. But not the kind of red they would get after being in the circle. More glassy-eyed.
“I saw you with Kelso yesterday. And I heard you two talk about keeping a secret.” You thought back to yesterday and went through the conversation you had with Kelso. You suddenly realized that from an outside perspective, especially Steven’s perspective, that conversation could have been about something different.
“Steven, I swear, it’s not what you think.”
“I know.”
“Kelso was really freaked out about something, but he didn’t want me to tell anyone about it because it was really embarrassing for him.”
“I know.”
“But I promise, Steven, nothing is going on between us.”
“Y/n.” Steven’s voice was stern, but still soft. “I know. But…”
“But what?”
“I found out earlier today. But before I did, I was really angry.” He paused, sighing. “There was this nurse.”
You didn’t like where this was going. At all.
“What?”
“I’m so sorry.”
He didn’t even say it, but you knew exactly what happened.
“How could you, Hyde?”
He was taken aback by the sudden name change.
“Hyde?” Ever since you first started dating, you always called him Steven when you weren’t calling him some silly or sickly sweet nickname. Even when you two were fighting, you didn’t call him by his last name. “Wait, no. Y/n, please.”
“I can’t believe you would do this to me.”
“No, Y/n, it’ll never happen again. I promise.”
“How am I supposed to believe you?” He didn’t have an answer for that. You needed to get out of here. You suddenly hated being in his car. You hated the shirt of his that you were wearing. You hated him. “We’re done, Hyde.”
He reached for you as you opened the door.
“Baby, please.”
“Don’t.” There was finality and pain in your tone. His hand slowly drew back, and he let you leave.
***
A breakup was always hard. But this was more than that. Hyde was one of your first friends, you knew each other for over ten years. Dating him just deepened your bond. But now that was all shattered.
When you got home, you packed up all the things that Hyde had given you over the past year. You put on a sweater and threw the Led Zeppelin shirt you were wearing into the box, along with other little trinkets. Now all you had to do was give it to him. But you didn’t want to see Hyde. You couldn’t even bring yourself to go to the Forman’s house right now because you knew he’d be there.
So, you called Kelso.
Sure, he was part of the reason that led to you and Hyde breaking up. But he was still one of your closest friends. Plus, you knew everyone else was either busy or didn’t have a car.
“Thanks for helping me with this, Kelso.” You said, handing the box to him. He put it in his van and looked at you, shoving his hands in his pockets.
“It’s the least I could do. I feel really bad about being the reason you two broke up.”
“Oh, no, it’s not your fault.” He gave you a knowing look, which was weird because he wasn’t really aware of anything. “Okay, maybe a little. But he cheated on me because of an assumption.” God, you couldn’t even say Hyde’s name out loud.
“Well, getting rid of his stuff will help you get over him. Really drives home the point that you’re over. If Jackie did that the first time we broke up, we wouldn’t have gotten back together so many times.” You couldn’t help but snort.
“Yeah, that’s why you kept getting back together.”
“What can I say? People can’t get enough of me.”
“Can’t argue with that.” Feeling tired of standing, you sat on the floor of Kelso’s van. He sat next to you, drumming up a beat on his thighs with his hands. You looked behind you, to the box of Hyde’s things. It used to be yours and Hyde’s. Now it’s just Hyde’s.
Kelso was right. You and Hyde were really over.
“Oh, geez. Come here.” Kelso sighed, putting an arm around your shoulders to hug you. You didn’t even realize you were crying. “It’s gonna be okay.”
“But what if it’s not?” You sniffled. “I’ll still have to see him all the time. We’ve had the same friends since we were like seven. I’ll have to look at his stupid face and keep thinking about what he did.”
“I could beat him up if you want.” You laughed, despite the tears that kept coming.
“Kelso, I don’t think you’d get very far. You’ll come back with a black eye.”
“Yeah, probably. But it’d be worth it.” He rested his head on yours. “I really am sorry, Y/n.”
“I just wanna feel better.” Kelso hummed like he was thinking of something. He suddenly sat up straight, eyes darting to the box behind him before looking at you.
“I have an idea.”
***
“I don’t know about this Kelso, it’s still his stuff.”
“He cheated on you, Y/n!”
“You cheated on Jackie multiple times. I don’t exactly think you have the moral high ground on this.”
Kelso had taken you to Mount Hump. At first, you were threatening to jump out of the van, because how could he try to take advantage of you while you’re so vulnerable? But then he explained his idea on how to get you past Hyde and the breakup.
Throw everything he gave you off a mountain.
“Come on, Y/n, it’ll make you feel good.” Kelso set the box down on the ground and looked through it. He pulled out a bracelet and handed it to you.
“Aw.” You fiddled around with the bracelet before looking up at Kelso, who was waiting for you to do something. “I dragged Hyde to the mall one time, and I saw this bracelet in the window at some snooty shop. But I couldn’t afford it. Later that day, he pulled it out and put it on me. Apparently, when I was trying some clothes on, he went back to the store and swiped it for me.” It was one of the sweetest things he had given you, even though he stole it.
You threw it as hard as you could.
“Give me something else.”
“That’s the spirit!” Kelso handed you something else from the box. Not even looking at it, you threw it.
Soon enough, the box was empty, and you and Kelso were looking at the view.
“You know, it’s kinda weird to see something besides a bunch of panties here. But you were right, it did make me feel better.” You turned to Kelso and went up on your toes to hug him. “Thank you, Kelso.”
“No problem.” The squeezing hug he gave you felt so comforting, like he was taking the last of the hurt out of you. You heard him take a deep breath, and then he kissed the side of your head. Confused by the affection, you pulled away slightly. He looked a little startled, like he was scared about what you’d do next.
“What was that?”
“I don’t know.” He answered quickly. “I’m sorry.”
“Don’t be.” He nodded. You didn’t really want to have a rebound this soon, especially with Kelso being that rebound. But you would be lying if you said you didn’t like the affection.
“Um… wanna get something to eat?”
“I’d like that.”
