I'm really questioning how you could follow this blog for years and not realize why this is a bad thing. Doug Ford has been in power for a long time, and has been terrible the entire time. I'm not aware of a single issue where he's genuinely made things better, outside of his rich friends and developers.

I love your art and your mind set of just messing around to make cool stuff. but I’ve also seen you love been to at least one convention (I didn’t scroll far enough to see more about conventions) and I wanted to ask. How you did it? I really enjoy making art and I would love to make it a career so this boils down to :

how did you do it? And how can I do it too?

not just like first steps but what happens after that? I’m young enough that if this doesn’t work out I have plenty of time to look into other careers before worrying about paying for rent or necessities with money from my future occupation. These questions are large and hard to answer. Being more specific in your questions helps. "How I did it" is very... large in scope. That question could be answered just by saying, "I did it by never wanting anything else and never losing sight of my goal." But that doesn't help you much. So I'll just try to touch on some key points and contexts.

I'm 32. Only in the last couple years has my practice been enough to make a living doing it. I've always wanted this and literally everything I've done in my life has been to get here. I've worked two jobs my entire working life (age 19-now): retail/customer service and art stuff on the side. Because of the pandemic, I got double unemployment and stimulus checks, which became my initial investment into merch and savings safety net to get started. I started therapy to address my fears of asking for help, my negative self-talk, and catastrophic thinking. (Therapy has helped me with my art so much.) Then I was laid off for real in 2020 and hit the ground running with art. I split rent with roommates, I live very very cheaply, and art is my passion. If art for a living is what you want to do and you're happy to make lots of concessions to get it, this career works. It takes a while to get momentum and regular sales/attention-- just don't quit. The more stuff you do the more people will recognize you and like your work.

It would be dishonest to not address my privilege here, too. My parents have always emotionally supported my practice, my friends too, and I got to go to art school with no debt. I did outside of school art mentorships. My art education experiences taught me a lot of art techniques and self-employed skills and that only happened due to the support of my folks. I had resources a lot of people don't. (Which is why I want to help new artists learn this stuff as much as I can; not everyone is as lucky as I am.)

My advice for you if you want to do what I do, which is being self-employed making and selling art and art merchandise for a living:

Get used to making concessions right at first. Your art career will probably not start out gangbusters, so get used to low sales and saving money and working hard. Make things within your means and grow from there.

Fuck around and find out. Try making merch, try making videos, try things you see other artists doing, try everything and see if it works for how you like to make stuff. I learn so much from YouTube, to be totally honest. Artists are good sharers.

Follow a shit ton of artists and see what works for them. Join artist groups and ask thoughtful, specific questions to learn from those already doing it.

Learn how to write about your art. Write about why you make it. It helps make it more compelling to others. "How to Sell Your Art Online" by Cory Huff is a good book to read for tips on this.

Develop a healthy relationship with art-making. If you sit down at a blank page and it terrifies you: address that first. Don't try to start a business if you're still struggling with making art regularly.

In fact, don't start a business until you're really ready. Art comes first. You can easily do art and build skills and do commissions and run an online shop along with working a job that pays bills reliably while you grow into the artist you're meant to be.

Don't pigeon-hole yourself into only one channel: don't JUST apply to cons, try street fairs too. Don't JUST sell online, get your work into cafes as well. You'll see which routes are more profitable/worth the time as you try them out. Eggs in many baskets, you know.

There's probably a whole essay I could write on this. And you're right--mileage varies between person to person vastly. The part of the world you live in, your access to transportation, education, your mental health, what type of work you like to make, etc. Art careers almost never look the same 1:1 even in fandom spaces like furry/anime. If you're self-made, it will reflect that.

Don't be afraid to take leaps of faith. Try everything. Be true to what works for you and what doesn't feel sustainable. Be authentic with your art and stay true to your interests. And good luck.

Starting off we have:

Liu'er mihou: The Tribes leader

The infamous six eared shadow king has the ability to create a entire ecosystem to wilt and bend to fit his tribes life style. This is hidden behind a even larger almost dome like bubble that is made up of the tribes sacred caves that hold crystals of the dead, giving it a dark purple and black color as the shadows make it constantly spin, blocking out the outside world and protecting the people inside. These crystals hold memories of the past loved ones and where it is a time to mourn and remember those who have passed on to live their next life. These memorabilia also play key roles in ones birth where they are given a stone to proudly wear for their life and given when they die, letting them rest peacefully with their ancestors. (unfortunately this is all i could save before the crash, will update later!)

The Six eared Kaiju has a outside reputation for being a ruthless cannibal and is hungry for power. How this may be true when he was still growing out of his youth, this chief has gone soft as he found peace with his three cubs that were born from his now late wife. Liu'er has the ability to spread out a net of shadow demons to hunt or search for important things both inside and outside of his territory, however he can only go so far before he starts getting hallucinations. He is, as you may think, a ageless and immortal, able to live out the centuries. However, he is still vulnerable to death and can fall in battle. Liu'er still has the same smoke/shadow abilities as he dose in LMK. After getting into a unbreakable truce with the Ice-Bone kaiju, he has the unfortunate capability to create things out of ice, but his tribe and family helped make it worth it, especially during the summers. The Chief's daughter: Rose/Rosie (As this is my self insert i will be using first person for her but that will vary) Being the Chief's oldest and first born cub, there was already a lot of pressure and praise from the tribe. It wasn't until the day that marked me 14 years of age, that my father pushed me more to do outside activities rather than just playing with the local children of the tribe. Similar to my mother, I has a deep connection with the forest witch led me to inevitably get my very first kill and get me into training to be a huntress. Abilities are slightly different from my fathers as it had evolved. Things like being able to walk into shadows and come out to the other side of the territory were a main one that he has to become accustomed to.

However, things like the smog/smokescreen that was laced with freezing temperatures made my father realized that his truce had a genetic effect on him.

Seeing how nobody knew of this creature and how it had rows upon rows of teeth, he was granted the highest praising job as healer, learning little from his mother and is currently being taught by the tribes elders.

Ne Zha Found by the Shadow tribes daughter when he was injured, Ne Zha is forever in her debt for not killing him during the struggling and harsh winters they were currently going through. After he killed himself on the mortal realm, Ne Zha had gotten a curse by Ao Bing's father that left him permanently as a Lung dragon, payback for murdering his son Infront of the entire dragon clan. He currently is a rare sighting in the Celestial realm and spends most of his time in the waters of the garden of the Jade emperors palace. Ne Zha has the unique ability to breathe pink and yellow fire that can turn a scalding white if he is angered enough. Sightings say that his flames resemble a storm of petals and leave a root like burn on his victims. Ne Zha can create sharp, body piercing, daggers with local lotus flora that he can control or summon on command of needed. When he is hit with great force petals may also generate. Ne Zha can conjure a protective magic barrier, which serves as a defense against incoming attacks for both himself and others. He also has little familiars

The Yin and Yang Tribe and The Star Tribe

Not much is known about these two tribes other than that they live extremely close to one another and live in peace.

What does the international community need to do to get back on track towards reaching the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)? How can multilateral development banks be strengthened to support these ambitions?

There is one issue that makes addressing these global challenges much harder: inequality. While the disparity between the richest and poorest countries has slightly narrowed, the gap remains alarmingly high. Moreover, in the past two decades, we have witnessed a significant increase in inequalities within most countries, with the income gap between the top 10% and the bottom 50% nearly doubling. The multidimensional character of inequality is undeniable. Basic services such as healthcare and education are not equally available to all. I would love to hear more about Robin, specifically :3 Gimme deets, please!

Oh yeah I guess I should do that

In an out of universe sense, Robin is my particular brand of Juliana. I designed her to fit the experience I had with Scarlet... which basically involved me poking my nose into every. single. corner. of Paldea. She's a hiker, backpacker, and budding photographer, because all those things are what I spent the entirety of my playthrough doing. I think I got like forty hours in before I finally was convinced to stop fucking around and go for the non-Path of Legends badges. A lot of the DLC I did as wing-sister to @the-starkindler, who was playing Violet, and we developed a lengthy headcanon winding the two versions together using our respective characters -- you know, like an Emerald version. This bit is key because it means there are two bike-dragons running around Paldea and the Academy, instead of being represented by one fruit, is more of a basket of them. (Insert jokes here.)

I'm going to put a cut here, because I have a lot to say about my silly girl. Beware all who enter here, for there are OC headcanons afoot.

In-universe, Robin is an established student at the Naruva academy, in her second year, arriving sometime after the Team Star dust-up. She is Kalosian, from somewhere in the vague area of Anistar City (if you don't remember your Kalos locations, that's the place with the big red sundial). She's an introvert who grew up in a family of extroverts, and, as you can imagine, that need for a moment of peace fueled her early interest in backpacking. This got markedly worse when the little sisters started arriving. She has five younger sisters, all between the ages of eight and four at the time of her second year. For context, she's going on sixteen at that point.

(I love my little sister dearly, but she alone was almost enough to send me howling into the wilderness. Five of those? Yeah, Robin's a backpacking pro for a reason.)

At ten (because that's such a sane age to do this), Robin's mom nudged her out the door to do the traditional Kalos Gym circuit. Robin came home from that with a level 100 Espurr, several memory cards' worth of pictures of Kalos, and like, two badges. Her mom wasn't overly surprised.

This is kinda how Robin is. She doesn't want to be a powerful Trainer for the sake of being powerful. She makes herself strong so that she can easily do whatever it is she actually wants to do, which is See All The Things. She's not real worried about whether those Things are supposed to be Off-Limits or not, either. So, as you can imagine, she's fascinated by the stories of the mysterious and/or off-limits places of the world. Cerulean Cave. Mount Silver. Mirage Island. The Great Crater of Paldea.

So when her mom suggests Naruva Academy for her, well, she leaps at the chance. Mom figures hey, her kid may be a little odd, but she clearly has a way with Pokemon, and she's sharp, so send the kid to a good school and see what develops. Robin, on the other hand, is plotting her first Great Crater expedition within seconds of the conversation.

Does this mean she's in and out of the Great Crater a lot? Well, not really, though it's not for lack of trying. The Great Crater really is hard to get into without a flying Pokemon at the very least, and the strength of the wild Pokemon there is considerable. She never gets very far in before having to turn back for simple survival. Nevertheless, she's determined to see the bottom of it someday. (Also she does have to attend classes, which cuts into her exploring time severely. Gotta keep dem grades up or mom might pull her home! The grades net her a Tera Orb though, so hell yeah.)

One question that could be asked is, did she know the Paldea Pals before, since she's an established student? Well, yes and no. She knows of Arven, because the poor guy is utterly overshadowed at this point by his shitlord parents. She knows of Nemona -- there probably isn't anyone in the school who doesn't, to be utterly fair. She doesn't really have any opinion on either. They run in different circles, and the most she's interacted with either is whenever Nemona pounced on her looking for a battle. (Yes, she accepted. No, she never won!)

So how does she get pulled into the Scarlet story? Well, one weekend, while she was out chilling with her Pokemon in the wilds of Paldea, there was a really loud sonicboom overhead, and a few minutes later, a tired-looking red lizard Pokemon walked into her campsite. Like most people, she assumed he was a rare breed of Cyclizar at first, because who expects an ancient legendary Pokemon to just waltz into your life and ask for a sandwich? He's injured, but not badly, and she has the brilliant idea to take him back to the Academy with her and see if the teachers can help. She cuts her picnic short and does just that. No problem, right? Nothing life changing about that.

As you have no doubt guessed, the sonicboom was Miraidon fleeing the crater after being attacked by his nasty counterpart. Koraidon, in this melded universe, was brought over as well before <redacted>, and he and the Miraidon actually bonded and are buddies. When Mirai ran for his life, Kori tried to follow, but he's not as fast and had to land. (Miraidon has that jet butt, after all.)

From here, she gets enmeshed in the Scarlet and Violet storylines -- or, well, some of them anyway. The storylines are divided between her and Mirai's rider Alanna. They sort of swap between player one and player two frequently. Robin was involved the most with the DLC stories and Starfall Street. She was the one Ogerpon chose as a partner (maybe it was all that little sister experience!), and she ended up with Chien-Pao out of the four Treasures. (This is not quite as cool as it sounds. Pao just wants to PLAY. All the fuckin time.)

Let's see, what else. Oh, she has a massive crush on Perrin (unrequited), and though she starts out wanting to shove Carmine into the river, they bond over time and Robin kiiiinda thinks she's cute. (Does this count as Carmine x Juliana shipping? Probably not lmao)

Tl;dr, my Scarlet character is pretty fun.

Here is why Lando Norris will become an F1 World Driver's Champion by 2026

Does Lando Norris have what it takes to become a World Drivers' Champion?

The real question should be, does Mclaren have what it takes to support a world driver's champion? Mclaren have only had one win in the past ten years, from a driver that was claimed to be washed up. Daniel Ricciardo came to Mclaren from a successful stint at Renault. He was constantly on the podium, and was on course for a win - provided that Hamilton and Verstappen were not in contention for a win. Ricciardo failed to adapt to the MCL35M to the way he did with the former Renault, and Red Bull cars. The MCL36 was even more of a shitbox, both Ricciardo and Norris have been outspoken about the quirky nature of the cars handling.

The current car, MCL60 started off poorly this year. The car failed to score points until the third race in Australia, where both Norris and Piastri made it into the 10. The following races were hit or miss, the car only scoring points in 2 of the 5 races after Australia. Austria brought upgrades to Norris' car. Netting him a successful qualifying of P4, which he held throughout the race on Sunday. Silverstone brought further upgrades to Norris' car in the form of a new front wing, and McLaren upgraded Piastri's car to the same spec as Norris' Austrian car. This was a very strong weekend for the pair, netting P2 and P3 in qualifying. Due to bad luck Piastri dropped from P3 to P4 after a late safety car, and Norris spectacularly held P2 against Hamilton on softer tyres.

Judging solely on performance increase from the last few races; McLaren seem to be on the right track in terms of upgrade and car setup. Currently Norris' car is about 75% completely upgraded, which leaves still a fair chunk of performance left on the table. We're not sure if the future 25% gain will be focussed on performance power, or just handling and reliability in general. Either way, this does show that McLaren are on the right track to become a competitive team again. It was only two years ago, since they were fighting for P3 in the constructors and now they've suddenly dropped to P5. All my speculation so far is without taking into consideration the other teams' upgrades and development, and without acknowledging major crew changes for McLaren (James Key!). For the rest of this year, It will be a tough fight for McLaren up against Alpine, and Ferrari.

No, but seriously does Lando Norris have what it takes to become a World Drivers' Champion?

100%.

He's proven himself time and time again that he has what it takes to fight at the front. When push comes to shove, he'll get his elbows out and fight against the likes of Lewis Hamilton, and Max Verstappen. He's shown how much he's matured and learnt from his mistakes (e.g. Sochi 2021). I think if he has the right car underneath him, and the right team behind him he definitely has a shot at winning.

I think come 2026, there'll be a big switch up in terms of car rankings. If McLaren nail the regulations, and hopefully Max does Sim Racing professionally... Norris will have his first WDC.

A Note About Project M 3.6 Content Integrity & Legacy TE

Last night we tweeted a tease for the next version of Legacy TE, something we've been very excited about for a very long time. We're happy to finally break the silence!

​Before we reveal anything about it, however, we'd like to visit a topic of recent interest. Specifically around modifying tournament legal stages in Project M 3.6 builds.

Our stance has never changed from Legacy TE's conception: characters and stages from 3.6 are the only acceptable versions of Project M content for tournament use. TE was made with this ethos in mind, and has never wavered, despite numerous attempts by the community to use unfinished leaked Project M content or community-modified deviations. We'll continue to make sure the integrity of Project M 3.6's content is intact.

In some discussions on the Project M subreddit and other places, there has been some confusion over what types of changes you can make to the game, and what kinds of changes should be considered acceptable. To help clarify this issue, we'd like to supply a few key definitions that will help distinguish between the many different kinds of "modifications" one can possibly make to Project M:

Aesthetic changes: visual or audio changes that don't affect gameplay, but can sometimes adjust players' perceptions and at worst be deceptive or distracting. This is a gray area, as some players use particular audio or visual cues when playing that can potentially be disrupted.

Net-new inclusions: additions to the game that simply give more of the same in a careful way, as to never replace key tournament content or result in any kind of gameplay change. i.e. Kirby's 9th and 10th costume options, alt stages

Quality of Life feature additions: net-new additions to the game that enhance non-gameplay changing features. ie. working replays, edit controls from the CSS.

Crash fixes: file edits that don't necessarily change aesthetics, nor in-game behavior, but simply correct potential game crashes. Examples are memory leak fixes, or Kart ROB’s Clear Mode edit.

Hardware-viability balance change: Changes to the game that only directly affect hardware-related aspects of the game to make the experience more consistent across every type of hardware i.e. UCF

Gameplay-changing modifications: any edit that would result in gameplay changes, including but limited to: character moveset changes, some PSA adjustments, some animation tweaks, stage collision changes, blast zone changes, etc

It's our belief that of the 6 possible types of changes above, only definitions 1-5 are worth considering. Changes as defined by definition #6 are never permissible, and have no place in a PM 3.6 build.

Why, you might ask? What's wrong with "balancing" a stage's blast zone or "improving" a collision? Well the first question to ask is, who truly has the authority to make that call? The Project M Development Team have been disbanded since December of 2015, so there is no true authority to be making these changes. In light of this reality, no matter how "good" the change might be, no gameplay-changing modifications should be made.

Let's ignore that for a second, and assume a group comes together and assumes the role of "authority" of the game's development and get away with it. Let's also assume the group came to a consensus where all parties were satisfied over what changes to implement. A push improperly executed will leave the community split, frustrated, and confused. There's a branding issue there, too. What "version" are each of these edited stages? They can't be called 3.6 stages. They can't be called 3.61 stages either. So there really is no good title for them. Good luck explaining this all to new players or less involved community members.

Not to mention this opens the floodgates to variety of other possible changes that can be argued to be made, including character balance changes, or additional characters on the roster.

This only scratches the surface of potentially problematic outcomes that could result from such a change.

The "gameplay update" debate has been a contentious topic since the PMDT disbanded in 2015. There's been a desire to correct mistakes left in 3.6, and not for no reason: it's not a perfect game. But what Smash game is perfect? Is disrupting a healthy meta 3 years in the making really worth a few little tweaks?

Since this is a longer post, we'll give you a TL;DR summary: ​ Legacy TE is committed to being faithful to Project M 3.6 as always. This means we will reject any non-3.6 variations of PM content and will not include them in any build.
