I don't have a clever pen name or anything, so you can just call me Skirbozobrainrot-or SB for short. This is my Kirby artblog, but I mainly draw Shadow Kirby, and things related to him like the Mirror World and Floralia.

Of the Mirrors - This is my AU? I guess that's the best way to describe it, but it's an AU that tries to stick to canon as close as possible. It's a comic series about Shadow Kirby's adventures prior to and after becoming the Guardian of the Mirror World (and by extension, Floralia).

Origins of Nightmare:

Nightmare was the original dark matter, and was always around because of peoples bad dreams. The thing is, they never fueled his growth because the fountain of dreams and the star rod was what kept him from becoming a huge threat. But, as generations had passed, the fountain of dreams became less of an important protective device, and more of a relic or a roadside attraction, to put it bluntly. The people had lost the knowledge of its meaning and didn’t value their peace anymore and they took it for granted, not even really acknowledging how good they had it. Anyway, a long time passed and nightmare is a puny threat to everyone, and he’s tired of it, so with what little power he’s saved up from aaallll that time saving up on bad dreams, he makes his move. He goes to popstar and shatters the star rod completely. And since the people didn’t acknowledge the importance of the star rod anymore, he went by basically unnoticed the whole time, and this began the start of chaos across the universe. Since nightmare grew to such a ginormous threat after the destruction of the star rod, the people figured they needed something big to defeat him too, and they created the GSA (Galaxy Soldier Army) and the star rod finally became a completely forgotten weapon.

Star rod and star people :

Nightmare became very successful in his plan to take over the universe at first, but because the star people (Kirby, Mk, etc.) were directly connected to the star rod (meaning they wish through the star rod, and so genetically they are connected) This is what made them a difficult species for nightmare to defeat because of the sheer power they had. (Unlike other species that would just wish on any shooting star and not the star rod) But the destruction of the star rod also had an effect on that too. The star rod allowed for wishing to be a very safe and reliable process, being able to wish any planet, any location, anytime.But without the star rod, you were not guaranteed this kind of safety, and now the children could be in danger during that process, sometimes even accidentally making wishes Wishing is a force of nature so the wish isn’t granted by a certain being, it just happens, the star rod kept that force in balance so without star rod it’s out of balance now. The wishing system is super screwed up so any large amount of emotion being said out loud could cause a wish. And the only reason why the babies of the star people were still being born with such power was because their parents still contained that star rod gene in them, so it still passed on through the wishing process. So in order for Nightmare to win, he had to destroy this species from the inside out.

Creation of Meta Knight:

Nightmares target became the firstborn child to the heads of the GSA (Sir Arthur and Lydia). So after the wish was made and the star had fallen to the ground, he made his move. He kidnapped the baby and took him to be experimented on. He turned him into a tracking device/ ambush plan, and gave him powerful, unnatural features that no other star person had. Nightmare later returned the baby to his parents, to be raised until the time was right for his plan to begin. He was raised along with three other siblings and was treated as a normal part of the family, so he never felt out of place. This was exactly what nightmare wanted

Nightmare’s plan:

At 25, Meta knight learned his true identity, through a vision from nightmare. He learned that he was a pawn to be used for nightmare’s efforts, and would be the downfall of the GSA. After finding out the truth, meta knight left the base feeling that he would be a disgrace to the GSA, and also out of fear that staying any longer would facilitate nightmare even more. However, this only opened the door. After he left, Nightmare took the opportunity to ambush the head GSA base and completely destroy it, as well as sending more beasts to meta knight after he had left to force him to return again in seek of refuge. Upon returning he saw that the base was completely destroyed and by leaving, he allowed that to happen (nightmare knew that if he didn’t leave, the ambush would be unsuccessful because the experiments he did on him made him a very skilled fighter, and nightmare needed that for his own gain, but against him he would not win). His family was nowhere to be found and neither were the other soldiers. So in this moment, nightmare physically appeared to him and tried to convince meta knight to join him. But after he refused, he took his eyes… (I’m sorry I don’t know how to describe it but he left him like severely injured like he actually ripped through his face and he was like horribly like lacerated on his face it was really bad and he was blinded like permanently).

Meta knight’s recovery:

He was left there for a while and he would’ve died, if he wasn’t found by two warriors (Jecra and Garlude) that came looking for others after surviving the ambush attack. They had their kids (Joe and Sirica) with them and were preparing things to to leave the planet with anyone they found. When they found him, they carried him into the ship and headed to one of the only peaceful planets left in the universe, Popstar. There, they cared for his wounds and helped him heal from actually being horribly ripped up and yeah.

Evil moment before warp saves him:

(Tw: implied plans of suicide in this part) After Meta knight was mostly recovered, he could only really see light, shadows, and vague shapes. His wounds had started the healing process and he was able to move around, so he left to the very edge of the woods, and he stayed there all day waiting until night. He contemplated the many things he had lost, his family was gone, his health and his vision had deteriorated, and the only life he had ever known turned out to be a lie. He went there in a bad mental state and didn’t think things could get better, so he planned to try and you know… yeah. After standing there for so long he broke down and he started like actually losing is like yelling like you are loud dude… basically just pouring out his heart in that moment of like sadness and confusion and wanting something to change the course of his life.

Warp star and star rod:

Now before I get back to the story I need to explain a little about warp. Warp star is a sentient being like galaxia, and she is also dually the star rod. After being broken, she had to be regenerated again because it’s just a law of nature, she exists with the universe no matter what, so she will always come back even if it’s in a different form. In order for her to be reborn though, she had to heal, and this process took years and years of regeneration. And for her to even be born, she had to choose a star person to be born with and to be her guardian for life, Kirby. This meant they both would rely on each other for power in the beginning stages of life (like how some sharks are born with a yolk sac, both rely on each other to an extent the shark needs food and the sac needs blood flow ☝️🤓). Anyways, Kirby and warp would be born together and that made Kirby her guardian, she is his galaxia.

Kirby:

Okay so remember how I said the wishing system was screwed up because warp wasn’t there to keep it in balance YOULL NEVER GUESS WHAT HAPPENS 😧😧 When Meta knight started pouring out his heart, it was read as a wish, and so Kirby was sent down to him, and he accidentally made a wish.😧 Kirby was born with warp star in his hands and they relied on each other as a source of power. So meta knight found the fallen star and realized exactly what had happened.

Post wish stuff:

After hearing him out in the forest, Jecra and Garlude were able to find him and Kirby and took them back home to be taken care of. They helped him raise Kirby in the beginning stages, and helped fashion a visor to be put in his mask that allowed him to see light and shapes in a little higher definition, which helped him navigate better and see Kirby a little more.

First 5 years:

For the first 5 years in cappytown raising Kirby, things go very smoothly. Meta knight starts training with Kirby in order for him to get his agility and skill back, and hoping that Kirby may learn from him as well. He has learned about Kirby’s copy abilities, and has become a fully involved father in Kirby’s life. (He’s so devoted because while it seemed that this was another stumbling block in his life, it was exactly what he wished for in the sense that he wanted something to happen that would completely change the course of his life) Also in cappytown, Dedede has barely become king and is just now learning to handle the throne (this is important for later)

After 5 years:

After a long and peaceful 5 years living with his son in cappytown, Meta knight received a notice from the GSA notifying former soldiers and warriors that their presence was needed urgently for the next attempt to to defeat nightmare. They claimed that the GSA had made changes to its system to ensure a “safer” environment for people with kids and were convinced that this time they would win against nightmare. Feeling obligated, and also a little hopeful of maybe seeing his family again, he left with Kirby to help the cause.

The issue with the GSA:

After the ambush at the head base of the GSA it seemed that Sir Arthur and the rest of meta knights family had perished during the ambush, but it’s actually all the contrary. When the ambush happened they were able to escape using one of the ships, and they left to one of the only other peaceful planets in the universe, Ripplestar. But because meta knight had left before the ambush, they couldn’t find him, and assumed that he died during the attack as well. So why didn’t they come back to help this second time? Arthur’s leadership in the GSA prevented people from serving that had small children, or people that physically could not serve, and he just had a very good handle on the leadership in the GSA, because he knew that yes the cause was good, but soldiers are still people, not machines. He valued everyone and after the ambush he felt he had failed the GSA in the sense that some fault in his leadership allowed for the ambush to happen, so he resigned his position to take care of his family, and removed himself from the GSA entirely. So what’s the deal with the GSA now? This new system that made the GSA a “safer environment” was really all just propaganda to get as many people to fight for freedom in the universe. And while in theory yes it’s good, like let’s get people to fight for the good, they forgot the importance of valuing each soldier as a person, and they really only just needed numbers. So what they did for people with kids was, they created a ship that would send your kid into space for years, until the war was finally over. The kids would be in cryo sleep the entire time until their ship was programmed to land, and when they landed they would be granted the knowledge of what happened to their family/ parents.

2nd war:

When Meta knight arrived to serve in the 2nd war, he realized what would happen and had no other choice but to rely on the GSA’s technology to protect Kirby. The second way started out promising, but turned out to be the most unsuccessful attempt yet. By pushing their soldiers to the limit, they overworked them and it was just bad. That’s why there were so little survivors in the end.

Garlude:

Let me pose to you this situation okay, we have Garlude, and she is the best warrior okay (it literally says that in the anime) and we have another really good warrior, Meta knight, and they’re both gonna get this legendary sword okay. Logically Garlude would not lose, and she would get the sword right? At least that’s what everyone was thinking right. Anyways, when they get there, they start fighting this monster to get the sword and he gets caught and is about to die, but this gives Garlude an opportunity to grab Galaxia to retrieve it successfully, but through trying to get Galaxia, she finds out the sword was not meant for her, she gets shocked and realizes Galaxia was meant for him. Unfortunately she has no other choice but to grab the sword and use it to help meta knight, because he’s losing really bad. So she sacrifices herself by using the sword to free meta knight, and she’s electrocuted. While this didn’t kill her at first, it made her extremely weak, and vulnerable to the monster, ultimately leading to her demise. So when Meta knight, a great warrior but not the best, comes back with Galaxia but no Garlude, don’t you think rumors would start? I think it’s worth thinking about. This is how Sirica, got the wrong idea about meta knight, and how Nightmare continued reminding Meta knight of his purpose and how he would always be used against the GSA and the warriors no matter what. He was the cause of one of his closest friends’ death.

Jecra:

Jecra’s death was a statement from Nightmare to Meta knight, once again reminding him who he really was. Jecra was kidnapped during an attack by some of nightmares beasts, and he was turned evil by nightmare. Upon returning, meta knight realized exactly what had happened to him and it was like looking in a mirror, he saw what nightmare had planned for him, and desperately tried snapping Jecra out of it, but it didn’t work. Meta knight had no other choice but to go against Jecra in battle. This resulted in him having to kill his only other friend left. Once again making him the cause of his friends’ death. All of because nightmare never wanted him to forget his identity and purpose.

After the second war:

At the end of the second war, most of the warriors in the GSA had died and there were very few survivors, including Meta Knight. He escaped and once again headed to popstar to seek refuge. This is basically where the anime starts

KRBAY:

The show is basically what this time was like from Kirby’s point of view, he sees dedede and a scary tyrannical leader and the one that orders the monsters, and everything is very “kids show” through his eyes, which isn’t necessarily how it happened.

King dedede had been king for about 9 years, but his leadership has been questionable, but he was doing everything in his power to keep the peace the cappytown even if it meant doing things that were wrong. King dedede filtered what could and couldn’t be seen by the cappies, basically making them ignorant to the whole war that’s going on. I guess like all of this just to say that the show is like a very kid like depiction of what actually happened.

Kirby returns to popstar:

About a year after meta knight had returned to popstar after escaping, Kirby’s ship crash landed in cappy town. (during this year that meta knight spent in Cappytown by himself, he became very close with tiff, because she was interested in who he really was as a star warrior. She disagreed with King Dededes method of leading, and she actually wanted to know what was going on, so that’s why him and tiff are very close) The whole plot of the anime continues during this time, and since Meta knight had barely returned from such a traumatic war, he felt that he wasn’t capable of taking care of Kirby anymore and that’s why they’re not very close during the show at all.

Sirica:

Even though the show depicts Sirica coming after knuckle Joe, I do what I want and I say she arrived before Joe did. When she arrived we all know what happens we’ve seen the show, she thinks meta knight killed her mother which isn’t true and the show kind of brushes over it, that’s not what happened. After their conflict, he fully describes the story like he zones out and starts retelling everything like it happened and it’s kind of difficult to hear for everyone, but it gives Sirica the reassurance that her mother died a hero and for the greater good. She does not leave right after this, she stays in cappytown for a while, because I don’t think she would leave I think she wants to hear more about her mom and the only guy that knows a lot about her is Mk so it only makes sense.

Joe:

Similarly to Siricas conflict with meta knight, knuckle Joe comes to cappytown seeking the warrior who killed his father, we know how it goes we’ve seen it. And just like last time after their conflict, he fully retells the story, except this one is particularly more difficult for him to tell, because he actually did kill his father. Since nightmare made him one of his pawns and made him fully evil, meta knight had no other choice but to you know like… yeah. So after zoning out again and telling the story in full detail it’s very difficult for everyone to grasp, knuckle Joe does get the closure he needed, but the people (WHO DIDNT REALLY EVEN KNIW A WAR WAS GOING ON) hear that meta knight actually had a crazy war story and was a crazy fighter, and that’s how this persona of meta knight started being built up even more and people thought of him as like wow so fighter like he’s so noble and so cool. Basically treating him like a fictional character now instead of an actual dude.

Joe and Sirica:

After staying in cappytown for a while, learning about their parents and how they cared for injured soldiers, and were very noble people, they left into space to find survivors from the war, and other star warriors, to help with the final battle against nightmare that would be coming very soon.

KRBAY finale:

As the show nears its end, there’s a bit of foreshadowing that comes from meta knight, where he says Kirby will soon be going up against an even bigger foe, and the next episode starts the finale. That means he knew that Kirby would have to fight nightmare very soon, how did he know that?? Basically nightmare gave him a vision and this was like the worst thing nightmare had in store for him, in that vision he told meta knight that now Kirby would be going up against him whether he liked it or not, and he was going to take what was most important in his life, Kirby. (It’s not like super important to know this but I thought it was cool so i out it in) ANYWAYS, the finale starts and meta knight, sword, blade, Kirby, king dedede, and Tiff (she snuck on board) head into space to fight nightmare. They get there and yeah we all know what happens, and then they get surrounded by a bunch of nightmares ships. And that’s when they notice three of the ships actually helping them out. And then it’s like big reveal, it’s Joe, Sirica, and Sir Arthur and his family WHAAATTTT 😧😧😧 I THOUGHT THEY DIED (that’s his brain)

He kind of disassociates during the rest of this battle just because so much has happened and he knows what going to happen and it’s just a lot, which is why his reaction to seeing his family again is so like 😮 instead of actually freaking out. Ok let’s fast forward to the end okay.

Final battle with nightmare:

Finally we get to this final battle with nightmare, and in the show it depicts tiff being the one that gets taken by nightmare and Kirby goes after her, but I honestly think that it would just be a lot more meaningful if it was meta knight just because this final battle represents his fear of nightmare, controlling his life, and just always being around, so for the sake of this story, I’m changing it to that. Anyways, as Kirby is going after them to save meta knight, this is basically meta knights worst nightmare come true, and his fear is what is fueling nightmare at this very last battle to make him look much bigger and stronger. This is all kind of like a show to make the person fighting him think that they need a huge arsenal to defeat him, when in reality, all they need is the star rod. So at the end when Kirby reveals that he is the guardian of the star rod, that’s how he’s able to defeat nightmare. By using the only thing that could defeat him, he destroyed nightmare forever in an instant. In the show, nightmares defeat is only shown for a very small portion of the entire finale, which I think really drives the point home that nightmare was all show. He played this role of being a huge threat to hide the fact that he had such a big weakness.

Post nightmare’s defeat:

After successfully, defeating nightmare, and nightmare enterprises, everyone returned home safe, and meta knight and Kirby left Cappy town to go and see his family after all these years. They spent about six months visiting and came back to Cappytown after that.

Meta knights revenge:

After returning to Cappy town from visiting his family, he came back to a completely different town. While in many aspects, Cappytown had improved, for example, king dededes leadership, media, and education had improved. Many of the cappies continued to choose to be ingnorant to the efforts of the GSA and basically all the crazy war stuff that had happened. They treated star Warriors as fictional characters to put it bluntly, and didn’t value the freedom that they had even during the wars. One example I can give you of the Cappies ignorance to everything that was going on, is in one of the episodes where they collect little figures of some of the star warriors and soldiers, they collect these figures and don’t even know their actual names. (There was even a collectible of Jecra and like it’s kind of messed up like why are you making a marketable figure of a man that died???) It’s just very representative of how they view star warriors as a whole, just a collectible or a character. So when Meta knight had arrived to Cappy town, the people treated him like he was a celebrity and people fawned over him and made merchandise off of him and it was just really weird. This really irked him, and he kind of lost it, because a couple years ago when he lived there and he was going through things, nobody cared about him except tiff, but now since he’s a “hero” everyone loves him and idolizes him just because he lives in their town. So, his solution? IM GONNA TAKE OVER THIS ENTIRE PLACE AND IM GONNA MAKE THESE PEOPLE STOP BEING SO IGNORANT AND LAZY AND SEE WHAT I AND A BUNCH OF OTHER WARRIORS WENT THROUGH 🐺🐺🐺🐺 (this entire invasion is really just a manic episode, he completely loses it and it’s just all build up from all the crap he’s had to deal with from the cappies) During this time is when we really get to see the true power nightmare gave him though. Similarly to the evil frog thing from that one episode, he goes into this trance like state where all he can do is wreak havoc and he can’t recognize anyone he’s up against. So when Kirby goes to fight him, meta knight doesn’t recognize him, and that’s why he’s so brutal.

After meta knights revenge:

Afterwards, tiff finds him on shore and she is really disappointed. She and him end up talking things over and it’s end up okay but she realizes that he still has very serious issues to deal with. He gets fired from working for dedede, and gets a slap on the wrist but otherwise is fine (dedede didn’t want conflict so he chose this route to keep everyone happy) The people recognize that he’s also a person too, but still idolize him, and honestly this kind of raises his ego. (Until he gets humbled later) After all the games happen up until planet robobot, and that’s when it gets crazy 😧

Susie haltmann:

After being stuck in an alternate dimension since her childhood, Susie finally escapes when a rift is opened, and she finds herself on popstar. (That happens right as Magolor loses and vanishes to that dimension, they like switch spots) With no idea where she is, she steals a star ship from a garage of what seems to be some celebrity or something, idk they had a lot of cars and ships (you’ll never guess who METAKNIGHT OMG yeah) and she heads into space to find her father again. After finding haltmann works, she goes inside to see her father again after all these years, but he doesn’t remember her. Desperately she tries to make him remember, but nothing works. She ends up resorting to being a secretary, hoping maybe one day her father will recognize her again, and plotting to steal the machine that stole her father from her. She’s forced to work in a company she knows is corrupt, just to try to get her dad to remember her.

Planet Robobot:

After getting captured by someone as he entered haltmann works, Meta knight waited in a room for a representative to come talk to him, enter Susie Haltmann. Susie explains a new program called the “Mechanization program”, a new experimental initiative, which gave the person robotic armor that worked with the body to make them more efficient in fighting, and overall just an upgrade to an organic body. Two things to keep in mind though, one, Susie wasn’t really trying to do anything drastic, all she was trying to do was do something big enough in the company to impress her father so that maybe he would remember her, and two, Meta knight had recently (in previous games) been shown to be obsessed with improving his fighting skills, fighting on his own to prove his strength, and proving he’s the greatest warrior ever ( amazing mirror, meta knightmare ultra, etc.) so to him, this program sounded like free plastic surgery to hi so obviously he said yes. Before starting the mechanization process, he had to have a checkup, to make sure his health was up to par, which is how she found out he was blind.

Meta knights’ sight regained:

Before the mechanization started, Susie had to fix his eyes. She replaced them with robotic prosthetics that would help the mecha armor navigate, and after years of being blind, he would finally be able to see again. (His eyes turn yellow permanently after this game so it’s like proof) After surgery, he was extremely overwhelmed, and tried escaping to see Kirby and all his other loved ones, but since he had already signed the contract, she couldn’t let him leave, and the mechanization process continued.

Mechanization:

Technically he wasn’t turned into a cyborg, the mechanization process was more like giving the person mechanization armor that moved for them, meaning the person didn’t have to really even move, and the armor would control the person inside. The person inside acted as more of a skeleton. So the armor wasn’t a part of you (like she didn’t rip him apart and replace his entire body with robot ( except for his eyes but she just freaking made him see again so pllplppt)), it was more of an add on. (In the game the armor is completely off by the next cutscene so yeah no it wasn’t crazy cyborg stuff sorry) When he fought Kirby, he unfortunately couldn’t see him yet, because the program in the mech suit completely took over his vision, so he didn’t see Kirby until the very end.

End of robobot:

After fighting star dream and winning, he saved Kirby and they both land safely on popstar once again. Kirby doesn’t realize at first that Meta knight can see him, and meta knight stays very silent for a while taking it all in, but when Kirby finally realizes, it’s really sweet and they hug and cry and it’s just like GHHHHUHHVHJHHH 😢😢😭😭

From this point on, meta knight slows down a lot and stops trying to be insanely like in gonna be the best and I have to be strong and yeah, he retires from being a warrior like that, and spends time taking in what he hasn’t been able to see for almost 20 years.

Meta knight and Susie:

During his mechanization process, he became very good friends with Susie. Since she had just recently come back from an alternate dimension, he was the first person she could talk to, and they both had very similar traumas that they could bond over (losing their family for an extended time, feeling isolated, being related to a very bad person/ being, etc.) and meta knight felt he had, and always would have, an eternal debt to her for giving him his vision back. So there was never really intense conflict between them, they were just friends, until having to be separated at the very end.

After robobot:

After a much needed break, meta knight became a lot more peaceful and appreciated his family and his life a lot more, he finally felt truly happy and optimistic towards life in general. As for Susie, she did continue her fathers legacy by mechanizing different planets and people, but not in the way it seemed. She helped bring clean energy to different planets that needed help after haltmann works damaging their ecosystems, and she provided prosthetics for people who needed them, and helped many people regain their vision and hearing. (The reason why she was made to look like a bad guy is because since the people of popstar found out that she turned THEIR PRECIOUS META KNIGHT into a cyborg, they immediately assumed the worst and twisted her story around to make her look like she was a horrible person like her dad, which was just not true)

Star allies:

Star allies is really when Meta knight and Susie grew close. Finally being able to work on the same team helped them become even better friends, bond over shared experiences, and eventually lead to their relationship. They found someone they could truly talk about their trauma with, and it was just really great all around and it’s just sweet okay they both get their happy ending.

Forgotten land:

During forgotten land, meta knight has truly settled down and retired from his life of fighting like crazy and being crazy fighter

( I mean unless in one of the next games he comes out of retirement but we’ll see) and he focused on the slower life, he settled down with Susie, they wished for a kid, and life is really good. He will always continue to train Kirby, and anyone else, but after years of so many traumatic things happening to him, he’s now able to relax and heal from it all. 😊😊

Timeline:

Ever since they revealed that they’re sending Magolor to (what’s hopefully) hell, I’ve been thinking. There are quite a few other dead characters in Kirby, and while Magolor died before them, it could be interesting to see them all interact.

And so, introducing… my brand new and extremely silly/self-indulgent AU for a game-mode that hasn’t even released yet

Underworld Friends AU!

Aka an AU where time works nonlinearly in the afterlife, and Magolor, Sectonia and Haltmann all have to end up traveling through it together in hopes of getting their lives back. They would be guided by Papi from the novels, since I felt like they needed someone with actual morals to ground them as “a bunch of terrible people.”

While Magolor would be gathering remnants of his power (and… slices of apples, apparently?), the other two would be slowly gathering pieces of their original soul/personality/appearance and memories respectively— working to become the fully realized people they were before their respective Incidents again

I think at first none of them would get along. They’re all pretty manipulative, egotistical people. But perhaps they’d help the others realize why they’re just so insufferable, and as pieces of them came back, they could even come to some pretty important realizations.

Who knows? Maybe they’d even eventually be able to bond. And facing their past, realize what they had to live for and exactly why trying to get it back is so important. Idk. I think it could be sweet.

But course, with how things go in actual Kirby…

In the end, perhaps only Magolor would be able to return.

I was looking at all the Magoverse stuff recently and remembered I too own several Magolor AUs and wanted to post about them

So here’s some doodles of all my little dudes

Basic info about each of them:

Starting with the one in the corner labeled “normal AU”

This Magolor is from my main AU, which I’ve dubbed Collection of Stars in my files, or CoS for short. Warden and Trailblazer stem off this guy, while Fallen and SD-M are their own things. Out of all the guys, this is the one I’m most normal about and therefore have no idea how to start with telling his story lmao.

If he thinks these 4 are a lot wait until he sees the rest of the Magoverse lmao.

Next is Warden Magolor, from a PLA AU. Of all the guys, Warden probably has my favorite design, excluding CoS. He comes from the idea of “what if instead of Kirby Clash Magolor went to PLA at the end of the Epilogue.” He becomes Electrode’s Warden, and does an ok job before Electrode gets frenzied. From that point he feels really bad for letting it happen and doesn’t let Akari help, instead trying to use his magic to quell the frenzy. What happens next remains to be seen…

Also he does have arms they’re just hidden under his cape so you can’t see them.

Serial Designation M (SD-M) is from a Murder Drones AU where basically RTDL is Murder Drones-ified. He’s on a quest for an ancient Microchip that can turn him into the most powerful Drone alive, and requests the help of SD-K, known as Kirby, and his friends, who help him achieve his goal.

Probably has my least favorite design and gonna be redesigned later. He too also has arms under his cape like Warden

Trailblazer Magolor is from a Honkai Star Rail/Kirby AU where he replaces Caelus/Stelle after the Crown fight because I thought that would be interesting. So the plot goes like the normal Star Rail plot, except instead of Trailblazer having a fire version and physical version, he would always be quantum but still changes paths

I really like his design for some reason lmao.

Last bust not least, Fallen Magolor from a Kirby/Undertale swap AU, where he replaces Flowey/Asriel. The epilogue form is Flowey, his normal form is normal Asriel, Omega Flowey is Soul Magolor, and God of Hyperdeath Asriel is First Phase Crowned Magolor. Other than that it’s literally just undertale but with Kirby characters instead.

So these 5 are my contribution to the thing that’s going on rn except I’m still so new idk if anyone will see these guys. Ty to anyone made it this far through all my weird thoughts I would really appreciate a rb !!

I wonder if some of the guys racism and bigotry and power obsession comes from struggles trying to achieve a possesion in power as a guy. I also wonder if fluttershy would have been bullied less for being timid if she weren't a pegasus, Stuff like the pegasus leader pre-equestria being a commander and pegasi being called 'brutes' and generally shown to be thought of as aggressive makes me wonder if perhaps stuff like being outwardly 'tough' is valued in pegasus culture, and thus being timid esspecially looked down upon. I think about spikes egg all the time: no way did celestia randomly find a dragon egg. I imagine a dragon's egg is just as if not more protected than a dragon's hoard, like... Celestia definitely did some shady stuff to get that egg I'm saying. the majority of upperclass society like those in canterlot are unicorns. I HAVE SO MANY THOUGHTS NFJSNJKE I think equestrian society is more idealic than ours because they're country was founded on 'we should all be nice to each other' isn't it kinda fucked up that after centureis of being imprisoned on the moon luna still had to go to prison ofter? yeah like I said I have a lot of thoughts: if anyone ever wants to talk about my little pony my scedrule magically becomes empty

Finally got around to doodling all my future versions of the main group!

I’ve drawn Kirby with his copy abilities before but this was my first time drawing (Final design, in Meta’s Case) all the others!

I was going to do full shading but... ugh I got lazy. I just wanted to draw them and not bother with anything fancy... XD

Dedede and Meta both changed their outfits to have a piece of the other- Dedede with the purple from Meta’s Pauldrons and Meta with the fluff on his cape.

Kirby has become an adult, grown wings, and wears armor just like the other star warriors, though their is a visor so he can still suck up enemies for copy abilities, and it changes along with his wings depending on the copy ability. They styled it off of Meta (the silver and four spikes) and the star rod.

Bandee is still captain of the Waddle Guard, he just has some added armor on his bandanna and he usually carries around a backpack full of tools and snacks in case anything happens suddenly. He’s still Dedede’s Right hand man!

The King himself has, well, gone through some things. getting possessed so often has resulted in some pretty nasty scars, and he’s blind in one eye, though he can still clobber enemies with ease with his hammer. He’s gotten a lot better at diplomacy and the like though, so Dreamland is prospering with plenty of allies and friends! (Dedede is also happily married to his smol’ Borb husband)

And finally, Meta Knight! or King Meta Knight? Prince Consort? I’m not sure which one is the right title.. ANYYWAAYYY, Meta has had what is essentially an entirely redone set of armor- Forged by Landia herself as a gift (she forged Kirby’s armor too) its nigh impossible to break and plenty fancy, as drake armor is some of the strongest there is. His Horns have also fully grown in, and his wing claws have gotten even longer and sharper- along with that, his wings have also become somewhat.. stellar. They shift and glow like the cosmos themselves now- their... also a lot more torn. he also can no longer hide his extra wings, so all four of them are out whenever he flies. (Despite being short for a puffball, his wings are still the largest out of everyone)

i try to avoid talking about them even though i post a tonnn of doodles of them. they're on the mind 24/7. (If you mean ship with Kirby I choose none of the above. Idk, i just don't think it's his thing. There's three I actively dislike but :shrug: wont get into that)

Do you think Prince Fluff is some kind of Kirby counterpart?

I don't think Prince Fluff is a 'Kirby counterpart' or even like. Kirby-adjacent. I have ideas as to what he is, but it's based on basically nothing. The only thing I have on them being very different beings is Kirby gains the abilities that Fluff has after he eats a metamato. My headcanon is that he's a construct made by the ancients, and that his appearance was based on beings like Galacta Knight. They did this for various reasons but tldr the ancients suck and he was essentially a social experiment.

Do you think there are worlds who generate Kirby-like beings, to fight any dengerous creatures?

I think Kirby-like beings are made by the universe to balance out the emotional forces in it. Basically they just kind of spawn with a purpose and go where they need to go. If there's too much hate and sadness, a being will be created to try and balance it out. It works the other way round and it's awful. I believe the ancients tried to exploit this natural process, which ultimately lead to their downfall.

...Like Shadow Kirby from the MirrorWorld?

The mirror world is a can of ancient WORMS but my answer is yes, that was the reason the ancients pursued the creation of the dimensional mirror in the first place. It's original purpose was not to create warriors, but a version of reality where everyone acted almost perfectly. Basically to show others a more perfect world. However the main way this was possible to actually make was by using the wishes of others about other people to guide the mirror world. For example if you wished someone was hard-working, they'd become hard-working in the mirror world. The ancients wanted to use this to attempt to pull perfect, unquestioning warriors out of the mirror to use for their own purposes.

The dimensional mirror was placed above Dream Land thousands of years ago as a sort of 'test run' on an otherwise innocuous planet. The problem is the ancients fucking died so they could never go back to collect it. The dimensional mirror is only fucked up because of Dark Mind distorting the dreams and wishes of others for their own uses- and by extension twisting the mirror from the inside. These changes were set in stone when MK and Kirby entered the mirror.

Maybe that's why Shadow Kirby is not evil?????

My not-so-baby boy is not evil because. why would he be. Mirror worlders aren't inherently evil, they're warped reflections of the originals. Meta Knight has done evil things, so has Dark Meta Knight. Kirby hasn't really done anything that evil yet, neither has Shadow Kirby. Canonically he's good, ish. He didn't take any real action during KATAM (other than tossing the master sword back to Kirby if he drops it during the final boss fight), and afterward it's stated that he will remain on guard and protect the mirror world. Which is implied to be a good action. From what little info we've have about him in the modern day nothing points toward him being evil. Mischievous, yes, but nothing more.

“I’d like to introduce you to my religion”

Jambandran religion headcanons. Oh boy. Time to invent a whole religion.

There is, actually, a wiki page on the jambandran religion! It says a lot of things. I might ignore most of them.

So, the wiki says that Hyness “founded” the religion, but Hyness’ wiki page kinda half-contradicts that???? so screw that I’ll do it my way.

Alright, so!

Jambandran is a type of halcandran clan, magic-focused and religious specifically. They worship Astrals (kirby’s species) and Dark Matter!

When wars started breaking out in ancient times, it was in part due to astrals and dark matter being harnessed for the forwarding of Halcandran magic and technology: The Master Crown uses the soul of a never-born astral to power it, and clockwork stars require star power to function, which is what astrals are born of.

This created a serious conflict between the Jambandrans and the other clans, eventually resulting in the exile of Jambandrans from Halcandra, and banning the practice of the religion.

And that’s enough clearing up backstory lets get into some fun headcanons huh? or should i say juh

10 is considered to be a holy number, unlike all other halcandran religions and beliefs where it is 9. Because faelynes have 9 lives, 10 is usually considered unlucky because by that point you’ve run out of chances. In Jamba beliefs, however, 10 is respected as an end goal, use of it generally implies “live your life to the fullest” and “remember the dead”. jambandrans would love unnus annus now that I think about it Anyways, if you didn’t notice the second I said it, J is the tenth letter of the alphabet. Surprise!

Jambandran language features the letter J so often because of this. Adding “ja” to a word increases it’s importance or intensity, “jam” is added to more foreign words to imply it’s been accepted into their vocabulary, and you can find instances of J in many places to indicate respect... but never in names.

You’ll never find a Jambandran with a J in their name, because that’s considered blasphemous. If you think you hear a J, it’s probably a G instead. To name yourself with a J implies that you’re on the same level as the gods, and like wow how narcissistic of you, damn.

Okay so with the fun facts out of the way let’s get into ~religious practices~

Astrals are born of starlight and emotions/morals, the emotion you provide them with before they’re born determines many things about them. Kirby’s born of love, Meta Knight’s born of justice, for example. If you provide them with negative emotions, you’ll form a Dark Matter instead.

So Jambandrans are all about mental health! Kinda!

Jamba beliefs focus on how emotions impact others and yourself, on self-introspection and improvement. A good preacher acts as a group therapist almost, and promotes self care. A bad preacher is purity and cancel culture wrapped up in some jambandran garb.

I’m having trouble explaining the “pathing” part in my head so I’m gonna explain it this way:

Francisca has chosen a path of self-expression, making art as a way to show her thoughts and uplift others. She has trouble talking to people, so it helps to have a subject to talk about - if she has a serious problem, she might make a piece of vent art and go to her sisters with it.

Flamberge has chosen a laid-back path, carefully managing work and play. Being super professional stresses her out, so she balances and works out when she should be serious and when she can chill out, making her more relaxed and outgoing.

Zan Partizanne has chosen a path of self-improvement, and it’s actually not the best choice. Or it least, it was a while ago, but now she needs to slow it down and change focus. Zan works very hard and strives to work harder to improve on the lives of her sisters and Hyness - but this disturbs the balance of care-for-self and care-for-others, because she’s working herself down to the bone to get things done.

So that’s paths of improvement.

Onto the next practice: journaling!

Jambandrans keep diaries!

The objective is to write down your thoughts and experiences, and then as you grow and mature, look back on them to see how you’ve improved, or how you can improve in the future. The side-effect of this is that Jambandrans keep super-cute diaries, tend to do lots of scrapbooking and adding little doodles and stickers and aaaAAAA CUTE-

*ahem* So yeah, those are their ideals. As for sins? Basically just the opposite. Manipulating, baiting, gaslighting, all those nasty things are considered damn-near irredeemable, and this is a culture about improvement and redemption. Of course, since they’re about redemption they still allow people room to improve, but Marx and Magolor get some serious eyebrow raises from the mages.

I have so much more to get into - prayers & hymns, holidays, etc etc, but this is getting REALLY REALLY LONG, so here’s the absolute basics;

-Hymns are generally a team-building exercise, with everyone working together to express themselves in a beautiful way -Prayers are directed at potential Astrals! They tell them things they’ve learned and their hopes and dreams in hopes that the astral will be born of emotional maturity and love! -The only holidays I have fleshed out are New Years, which is basically just the concept of resolutions magnified, and The Day of Lights! -The Day of Lights comes from a story of some not-very-well-off jambandrans stranded in space, when they come across a nebula trying to become an Astral - it’s dark like a storm cloud. They enter the cloud and pray, offering love and hope to the Astral until it becomes a beautiful aurora of color, using it’s energy to heal the sick and injured and repair their ship. Nowadays it is celebrated by wearing bright colors, helping those who need it and spreading love and joy wherever you go.

So there you have it! Jambandran Religion! Sorry it’s so long winded, but I consider this piece of the world well-built now! Hooray!

I don't know if you've answered something like this before, but when did you start to become attached to Lor and/or Nova? Is there a history behind it or did it just happen and kind of spiral. I love your stuff by the way, stay hydrated.

It’s kinda difficult to explain without delving into some personal stuff, but I’ll try to explain it as best I can. I can’t add a read more on mobile, so be warned this is going to be a long post. I’ll tag it as such. By long I mean I’m scrolling back up to add I’ve been typing for over half an hour. Might as well just call this half of my life story. Anyways...

Nova was the first of the two I developed a big interest in, hence why all my social media is named what it is. At first it was something I kept to myself because it was during a very difficult time in my life. To be frank, if it weren’t for me deciding to draw Nova one night, I probably wouldn’t be here. What started out as what I thought would be a temporary distraction turned into my first source of legitimate interest and motivation; I saw the drawing I made that night, what I thought would be my last contribution to the world, and thought, “Well this doesn’t look great. I can do better.”

And so I begun trying to do just that. Constantly drawing Nova, slowly letting the idea of him being just a mere distraction from the inevitable choice I thought I would make fade away. Because, for once, I actually had a solid interest, something to focus on that I could keep improving at and show others I was improving at. And when you start to improve at something, suddenly you feel a bit better about yourself.

In that journey of realizing I had more reason to live than I thought, I started getting attached to Nova as a character, and one I could relate to for a very long time. While most say Nova looks sleepy, I’ve always seen it as tired; not in the physical way, but in terms of emotions. Tired of waiting, of existing; lonely, too. I felt that.

I also connected strongly with the way Nova was always treated by the fandom, as I started interacting with it. Always in the background, overshadowed by others, and in general ignored; just like how I felt constantly. Everyone around me seemed to excel at something, or was popular and beloved, or otherwise was at least something. They were the Marxes, the Galacta Knights, the Dededes, Meta Knights, Kirbies.

I, on the other hand, was not. At best I was a collection of little somethings in a trench coat, stuff that didn’t matter but at least gave me some semblance of identity. I liked bugs, I liked video games, I liked going outside, things like that. A random assortment of different, miscellaneous parts, but no real idea what those parts made or what I was without them. Sound familiar?

Nova became a huge part of my identity in a matter of months. I lived and breathed Nova, I wrote bad Nova fanfic, I made doodles of Nova on possibly every paper assignment in school. I was, honestly, entirely obsessed.

That’s kinda when things started to change, some ways for the better, some for worse. Obviously, I had a massive level of interest in one specific random character that nobody else really shared. I talked about almost nothing but said interest, made content only of said interest.

People began getting annoyed, but I didn’t notice until it was too late. Suddenly people I was close to began to express dislike towards Nova because of me. Me, who identified in every way as something tied to Nova. People talked about me behind my back, vagued about me, and ultimately some made it abundantly clear that they didn’t respect me. Some of those people I still can’t avoid today.

That became another low point for me. My depression got bad again, as did my anxiety. Not quite as low as I was that fateful night, at least, but low enough for my self esteem to plummet to levels it still hasn’t reached again. That wasn’t helped by the fact that I constantly associated myself with a character that was lonely, depressed, and tired in general.

Eventually I had the unconscious realization that I had to find something else to split my focus with. For a little bit that was Star Dream, but ultimately it didn’t stick. I’m very close to someone who really likes Meta Knight, so I tried to fixate on him, too. That didn’t last either. Marx was a definite no, given past experiences with several Marx fans sending me hate and death threats for not liking him.

Eventually I realized the problem was that I didn’t relate to any of these characters in a meaningful way. There was nothing to latch onto for me. So, I went back to square one in having to figure out what my identity was, just minus Nova. Which was a lot harder than I’d like to admit. Seriously, even my favorite color was because of Nova.

My goal eventually became to find someone that had aspects of Nova that wouldn’t encourage me to identify as lonely and depressed at all times, who was strong and independent and likable and maybe even not a background character! Like... MAGOLOR!

And then I fell in love with his pretty boat instead.

But! All that gave me something to work with; Lor was, in essence, a blank slate; had the bare minimum qualifications to be considered a character. Kinda like how I felt I had the bare minimum things to qualify as a person. It became a case of doing exactly what I did with Nova, but with the goal of making her like someone completely different and unexpected. I slapped on random personality traits I had or had had and decided, hey, this works, I can trick myself into being a new person by pretending it’s a character! Which was in essence exactly my process with Nova, just in a conscious manner this time.

It was around this time I first figured out I was asexual, thanks to my oldest sister, and how perfect was it that both my old and new obsessions were machines? Bam, they’re ace too, so now I have a medium to explore what that really means for me. Same thing happened when I realized I was panromantic. This happened with a lot of stuff as I learned more about myself via treating myself as characters that needed a happy ending.

Nowadays I’ve managed to separate myself a bit, and made Nova and Lor more than just The Staples Of My Identity. It still hurts a lot when people are mean about them, especially when it comes to old trauma, but not as much as it used to. Nowadays they’re just my big faves/comfort characters, but they’re still extremely important to me either way.

Played West of Loathing just so he could rip on it but actually ended up loving it and spending way to many hours playing. Then he found out there was a game called Kingdom of Loathing by the same creators and went down that rabbit hole as well.

He was iffy about getting into JRPGs but then Virgil convinced him to play Persona 5 and he absolutely fell in love with the music!

All the music in his phone is either from musicals or Video games!

Also really likes choose your own adventure games like Detroit: Become Human, Life is Strange, and Telltale Games

So much video game merch! Usually figurines because he likes to make little shelves and display cases for them.

He also really likes multiplayer games because he’s a social butterfly and likes to play with his squad.

Sucks at first person shooter games but still willingly plays Fortnight or Call of Duty or Left for Dead with his friends because he doesn’t want to be a drag and complain. But also they sometimes die in game in the most hilarious ways and it just leaves everybody wheezing.

He likes Overwatch but doesn’t like playing with people online so he usual solos or asks the others to play. But that too usually ends in chaos.

Hates rage games because he gets frustrated easily and has broken at least four keyboards and two controllers

He still plays them anyways because he can beat it damn it! Just give him a minute!

Enjoys the God of War series despite all the mythological inaccuracies

He plays a lot of Minecraft to relax or destress and has build beautiful works of architecture and sometimes entire cities.

He thought it was stupid and childish and was embarrassed about it for a long time until the squad came over to his house one day uninvited and caught him playing. He was getting ready for them to make fun of him but they instead gushed about how AMAZING everything looked and how TALENTED he was for building all himself.

Logan ends up showing them how to play afterwards and they work together to make weird sculptures and complex tunnels underground.

He made the mistake of playing Doki Doki Literature Club without reading the warning tags and regrets it immensely...still a good game though.

He did the same thing with Huni Pop but that one made him laugh more then anything and he kind of got addicted to it. Then he found out there was a sequel called HuniCam so he went down that rabbit hole too.

He likes a lot of phone app games too like Cut the Rope, Neko Atsume, and Candy Crush.

He once teamed up with a group of kids on Call of Duty solely for the purpose of collectively kicking the asses of this groups of so called “real gamers” that were being jerks.

Has memorized all the combos! He doesn’t have time to sit and look up a cool finishing move, he needs it now!

He convinced everyone to play Undertales so for like a month they all went through a HUGE Undertales faze.

Was the actual, ACTUAL one that showed Duncan Cuphead because he knew the dork would be reminded of Emile because of the animation and would want to show it to him and play multiplayer (*cough* subtle matchmaker *cough*)

Is up to date in all the gossip of the latest games and consuls, indie or mainstream! He’s in the know, know and if you need to know something chances are Remy probably knows it.

Weeds out through all the indie horror games for Virgil and recommends what he thinks are the best ones.

Same thing with Logan and his puzzle games, he’s usually is able to find very strange ones and Logan seems to likes those best.

Obviously has a lot of merch in coffee mug and thermal form as well as a few key chains.

Occasionally streams on Twitch with Duncan and Emile (sometimes inviting the main squad too), they’re commentary is usual hilarious.

Hello all the lovely people out there that have been following The Heart of a Hero.

As I promised before, I said that I would write up a bit on how I have approached this adaptation, and likely how I’ll be approaching Majora’s Mask, if I end up doing an adaptation of it down the road.

At the time of writing this, I have finished drafting up through chapter eleven, which takes me through the end of Dodongo’s Cavern. As such, anything referenced directly here will only be up through that portion.

The first thing that i had to do was actually decide to make a adaptation. Originally, Thoah started out as just an au idea, based on something I had seen while looking at stuff related to Hyrule Warriors and the Zelda Encyclopedia. Somewhere, I don’t remember where, I saw a wild theory that, as an alternative to the “Link is dead” theory, that he was in the process of becoming a skull kid because he did not have Navi to guide him.

I did not care for that theory, but the idea of Link being a skull kid intrigued me. So I sat down and started doodling some designs for fun and imagined up an AU.

At the time, I had been planning to draw a Windwaker AU comic involving skull kid existing in the windwaker timeline in the forbidden woods, finding Link, and following him around the ocean for the majority of the rest of the game. (I still may write a little about this after the heart of a hero is done, but not a full fic. I may also release the three pages I drew at some point if I meet a certain view/kudos goal. Maybe 1000 AO3 views or 100 kudos, whichever comes first?)

I ended up enjoying the idea and the idea and design so much that The Heart of a Hero ended up happening.

So now I can actually get into hows of my creation process behind the fic.

It is worth mentioning that I had read one fic adaptation of a game at that point to completion (Sonic Adventure), and another one for Majora’s Mask that I quit reading. At one time I started to write my own Sonic Adventure 2 novelization, and considered writing a novelization of Kirby Planet Robobot in the anime verse, but neither of those ever got very far.

It is also worth mentioning that although I have finished Ocarina of Time (and Majora’s Mask). I have never gone through and done a full completion of either, I’ve never finished every side quest.

So before I ever began writing, I sat down and watched a 100% play-through of OOT. (Specifically, for those curious, I watched Masaeanella’s master quest playthrough.) By doing this, it gave me a chance to go through all the game’s main material and decide what quests I might want to include in the story.

Then I replayed the game myself, taking my time and thinking “What about this would be different if Link was a Skull Kid.” For one of the more obvious things, it makes him significantly more susceptible to fire, as is heavily touched on in the Dodongo’s Cavern arc. But in lesser things, it makes people - especially those outside of the forest - more wary of him, something that is starting to develop into a bit of a character arc for him.

His change in species also has an effect on how he acts around other people, and as a result, changes some of the sidequests that are brought up, such as his run-in at the Happy Mask shop. Because of his mischevious nature, he never goes through that fetch quest, but he still has an interaction, and ends up stealing instead of selling.

Perhaps the most interesting portion that I’m looking forward to writing is the seven year skip, and how being sealed that long is going to be handled, considering he is an eternal child that will never get bigger or grow older. I already have that planned out, and look forward to how people react when I reach it!

But the process doesn’t stop there, because at that point, I have only just finally laid the groundwork and begun writing. But memory is not perfect. So as I’m writing, and as I’m wanting to describe these areas, I am looking at let’s plays and playing through the game again, giving me a chance to look at the areas so I can describe them better. Especially dungeons.

Once I write a batch of chapters, usually half of an arc or a full arc I go back and start editing. I try to write in half or whole arcs so as to hopefully not forget anything.

One of the hardest things of writing is the dungeons. I want to write them so that they’re recognizable (Oh, this is that room) without just writing straight through it and explaining every puzzle. I want to cut out some of the unnecessary fluff that would be a chore to write and read. A good example of this is the part in the Deku Tree, where Link and Skull Kid find the slingshot at the base of the vines (where the dungeon map is in the game) without having to go all the way to a dead end room, only to have to backtrack again.

Some areas, both in and out of dungeons are changed very little. Others are changed a lot. The deku tree is something that did not change much, beyond the reaction of the Deku scrubs to Link and Skull Kid. On the other side, Dodongo’s Cavern is changed up a lot, due to Link’s much more flamable body. There’s going to be a lot of things changed in the adult portion of the timeline. The areas I’m looking forward to the most are the Gerudo hideout and Spirit Temple.

I am almost an entire month late in doing this, lol, but here it finally is! It's pretty fun to put this all together and see what my focus was for each month~ Thank you all for sticking with me throughout the year and thanks to all the newcomers who've joined me in my journey of art <3 Here's to another great year of art! \o/ I have a lot planned and I'm probably too ambitious, but here we gooooooooOOOOOOOOOOO!! I'm gonna give little blurbs about each month's piece or what I remember going through each month haha, so feel free to read over my ramblings and such >w>

January - 

I chose this piece because of the lighting and the expression. I really liked how the torn down wall turned out behind him and overall this is one of the best completed works of that month. It was a hard choice between this one and one with a sunset behind a female crocodile woman, but I ended up choosing this one for the color in the hair and that it was furry while the other one was a human with crocodile features. (both were not my commissions)

February -

This is probably one of the best pictures I've ever done to be honest haha. I still love the idea of it, the layout, the lighting, ALL of it. I even entered it into a scholarship contest and WON. But the best part of that contest was that it was for my university and this is KIRBY FANART xD that still kills me! haha

March -

Every time that I hang out with my friend :userVibrantEchoes: I end up drawing either Kirby or Pokemon stuff and this piece came from one of my sketches I did while hanging out with her. It was really just something I pulled out of files to work on after completing commissions in a stream but I experimented with lighting and I remember switching between two versions of my preferred art program (because a new update was released that changed nearly everything about the main tools I use) in order to get used to how the new version worked. This was a complete experimentation for all kinds of things but it turned out to be the best piece of the month (in my opinion anyway lol)

April -

Apparently April was when I started to get REALLY into Overwatch, haha. All the work I had available to choose from was Overwatch related and most of those were sketches or colored sketch style comics that I had done at the time. So I went with one of my FAVORITE colored sketch pieces where I had included a big ol' essay about Hanzo and how I adored that character and for what reasons, applying all I'd learned in my psychology classes as well as my own personal experience with depression and loss of family and difficulties with siblings to my claims. Then I tied in how McCree works really well as either a good friend or a lover for him based on their pasts. People seemed to LOVE it too! Though I honestly was expecting some sort of hate for that analysis of him but lots of people commented (this feedback is mostly on tumblr, btw) and messaged me about the analysis or left tags on their reblogs about how they were thinking similar things or that I did really well with it. I love getting feedback on anything, but the sheer amount of it for THIS post... it was amazing and totally worth it.

May -

I shipped a few different pairings from Overwatch >w> Pharmercy is also one of them~ This piece was a pun on how Mercy's line in the game says "healing stream engaged" and I put a ring on her finger and titled it "Healing stream (and healer!) engaged!" ...unfortunately no one commented on that :'c

June -

This is around the time that I started switching from drawing BnF artwork to drawing furry art almost exclusively. I had been MAJORLY involved with the BnF roleplay community there for a while and did a lot of work for people on that site between doing my own roleplays. This was done for a dear friend of mine from that site of one of his new characters. Tagging on from the Pharmercy piece in May - I had become really drawn to doing a glow effect for some reason and wanted to do some sort of magic piece. So this one came about. The character himself was a mimic octopus, hence the designs on his skin and the almost tentacle texture to his hair. 

July

-

In July I spent a LOT of time sketching and doodling furry stuff so I didn't really have any "fully finished" things to choose from for this month. After attending Texas Furry Fiesta in March I wanted to get more involved with the furry community but I didn't know how. I downloaded Telegram and tried talking with the artists/friends I had met at the convention but nothing was really sticking with me because I barely knew anyone local. But July was when I found out about the local Texas chats and started attending furmeets and events, made friends, etc. I started making LOTS of stickers for myself of my brand new fursona design to use in the chats (after years of having two separate sonas I combined the species into one that feels like ME rather than characters). Overall it's been a fantastic experience and I've made SO MANY new friends in the local furry community, it's great. BUT! Splatoon 2 had also come out and I discovered Marina because of one of my new furry friends who was/is obsessed with Splatoon and fell in love with her design >w> so I did a little bit of fanart for her during this month~

August -

The last month before school starting up was also the last time that I drew the kemono design of Dimitri with his BnF boyfriend Onnen the elk. At this point I had fully decided that I was moving on from BnF to get more involved with the furry community and I had mostly stopped drawing Overwatch fanart all the time too. I believe my computer was broken at some point and the game had to be deleted, the drive wiped and such. I lost a lot of files that I had been working on... but I didn't re-install the game and ended up not playing anymore because school started up at the end of the month and it was my last semester so I had some pretty big classes that needed my attention more. 

September -

I'm really amazed that I had next to NOTHING for this month to choose from. All I had done in September was school work, some Telegram stickers, and maybe some sketches here and there. So what I chose for this month is an example of one of my favorite stickers that I had completed during the month (for Siber) and one of my projects during that month was to use Adobe Illustrator and design a sign or logo then use the laser cutters at the school to both do etching and cutting. And I redesigned my logo from about a year before and included elements that are super important to me (bunny and dragon, since I'm a dragunny, and the star since my last name is Starr). I also created my own font for the actual letters in my username too, which got me big points in my critique in class. It totally went to my head when everyone in there was just blown away with my design of it x3 I was struttin' the rest of the day~

October - 

This piece is super emotional for me. As some of you may be aware; I lost my dad a few years ago. For some reason the thought came to mind that when/if I get married I'm not going to have my dad around to dance with me during the traditional father-daughter dance and then I tried to remember if he and I had EVER done that together and I'm pretty sure we never did. Maybe when I was very very young, but I don't remember ever going to anything like a "father-daughter dance". So... this is a drawing of a moment that will never happen. Also - my dad's fursona is a lion with a "chipped" afro, by the way. He loved the character I designed for him too x3 It's just kind of hard to see that in this drawing since it's cropped and he's mostly behind my sona's head

November - 

I didn't have much to choose from for this month as I was still super busy with school, but this is when I started getting back into traditional art and began making badges for people~ One of my first commissioned traditional badges was for a local fur and I really like how it came out :3c so that's the one I chose to represent this month! \o/

December - 

Another piece with Siber here, haha. But this one had a bunch of elements in it that I really enjoyed doing. There's the "magic" effect with the music around him, the color scheme is super wintery, there's foreground and background elements that I think really make the picture work well, and I really just like this picture haha. I think it's a strong representation of my styles mixed together since all I'd drawn of him up until this point was stickers so I was pretty set into a certain way of drawing this character. But this turned out really well and I just really like it haha

Creator Profile - Kyle Marshall, 3 Amigonauts

9 Story’s new show 3 Amigonauts, created by Kyle Marshall, premieres Saturday August 5, at 8am on YTV!

Set in Earth’s far-flung future, 3 Amigonauts goes where no goofball has gone before! The series follows three lovably reckless pals who attend the solar system’s most prestigious space academy and super-size the smallest tasks into madcap intergalactic adventures.

We sat down with 3 Amigonauts creator, the endlessly talented Kyle Marshall, and had him share the story behind the story of this fresh and unique show.

And did we mention the Unikraken? Because there is one of those as well!

1. To get started what is your favourite life motto or quote?

I don't know if I have a favorite motto or quote, but I do believe a big part of success is just sitting down and getting your idea done and out there. We can tend to hang on to ideas, drawings, etc, but you need to just sit down and get it done. Grind through the problems and learn from them, release the idea into the world, and move on to the next.

2. What is your origin’s story? (How did you get started in your career?)

Born and raised in Tisdale, Saskatchewan and went to a small animation school in Saskatoon. Started out as an animator and worked a few small gigs in Sask and P.E.I., before moving to work in Ottawa at Mercury Filmworks. Started as an animator there, but then worked my way through the pipeline as a character designer, board artist, AD and then directing. Always wanted to create my own stuff and did a few shorts along the way before getting into pitching concepts for TV. So many kids come out of school wanting to run their own show from day one, but I found it invaluable to go through the pipeline learning from the vets, playing different roles, and understanding what goes into a full production. 

3. Now as the creator of the Amigonauts, can you share a little of their origins story, how they came to be?

It all started with the name, I just thought '3 Amigonauts' was funny. I then started to doodle around with them, and created a short trailer for the interwebs. Mike Geiger (who became the director on the series) created an online comic site, where 5 artists each had a day of the week to release a comic. My day was Thursday, and that's where the first storylines of the Amigonauts appeared. The designs were completely different and it was about three brothers instead of the two boys and girl we have now. 

4. What is the coolest thing about what you do? Or what do you love most about your job?

I make cartoons and get paid for it, life's good.

5. As a creator what is your top piece of advice to fellow artists trying to get a show off the ground?

Firstly, as mentioned above, go through the pipeline, gain some experience, learn from those around you. I'd strongly recommend boarding on a few shows before trying to get your own. If possible, direct on a series or even do a few of your own shorts. Writing a few scripts and sitting in a writers’ room would also be a valuable experience. Also, pitch, pitch and more pitching. You'll learn from each failed concept, and become a better storyteller and pitch artist.

6. Without spoiling too much what is one of your favourite moments from the show?

There's a number of episodes that really stand out - Unikraken, Cheese Your Own Adventure and Ultimate Explorer's Club, but I'd say the final scene of the finale was a favorite moment.

Hamburger Helper's also up there as it was one of the first storylines from the original concept, and to see it make it on TV is cool. In all the Amigonaut episodes, we wanted to wrap some crazy and fun around a real emotion and a bit of heart.

7. Which of the 3 Amigonauts are you most like and why? Herby, Kirbie or Burt?

I see myself as more of a Herby, small guy who wanted to prove his worth to the world. 

8. Anything you would like to share – like funny behind the scenes moments, interesting tid-bits about the making of the show that people might like to know, cool voice talents, things that stand out. Etc.

I had worked on the show remotely, only getting to be with the crew a few times during the production, so most of my time was spent late at night on my own in front of the computer, and that's never too interesting unless you stub your toe or something. Having artists like Kid Koala and DJ Vekked doing the music was incredible. The voice talent was amazing, and the writing rooms were a blast. I would also like to mention, we had a very small team and I'm grateful for everything the crew did for the show. Many people had to take on multiple roles to get this done, Francis Yeh was not only our character designer but our location and prop designer. Mike Geiger was not only our director, but our animation director and pitched in on art direction, the guy was everywhere! Emily Lindsay, our production manager was a puppeteer for an episode; Alley Crawford wasn't just producing, but became the music and SFX director. The list goes on... I’ve never worked on a production like that, and to have the people step up to fill in roles was amazing.

Cafe AU Main Post (The Cozy Place Cafe)

Okay, this is probably a big silly long post of nonsense, but I’m really serious about making this Cafe/Coffee Shop AU a thing big time. Having been to my fair share of hanging out in Starbucks, Coffee Bean, and smaller cafes (including my time in college), I can safely say that I would love to imagine an AU where me and many of the fam bunch run a cafe in the awkward love child of FRIENDS, The Office, and Parks and Recreation.

So if you don’t mind the madness that will ensue here, then click and read this thing:

So, Mari’s family runs this cozy cafe for quite a long time in the heart of (insert name of whatever city in the godforsaken world). Harry and Kairi are obviously still adopted into the family, at just ages 9 and 5 respectively here. The cafe’s name is The Cozy Place, lame name based off the Good Place TV show (might change it someday).

The Space Grumps himself, 12th Doc, is the main manager of the joint; sure, he’s a grumpy old Scottish fart who always feels that he’s surrounded by idiots (customers and employees alike whenever they give him a hard time), but he’s quite a lovable goofball once you get to know him more. Loves to listening to rock music (although he wouldn’t let you in on it), wears shades occasionally, awful in being not socially awkward, carries a fob watch at all times, and doesn’t do hugs. He’s basically the kids’ mentor to teach them the ropes and one of the oldest members in the staff.

Kirby is a loyal new employee in charge of cooking food along with Michiru & Ron and taking orders in the afternoon shift, but since he’s new to the job and a little baby, he’s pretty slow on doing his assigned task. And he has a tendency to occasionally eat what food he makes, still, he’ll try to resist the temptation for the most part and is always happy to see customers new and old.

Michiru and Ron handle much of the food preparations like pastries (with the head baker Jacob Kowalski), salads, sandwiches, pastas, soups, and more. Michiru is the Lesbian Team Mom who is kind, friendly, and always there to talk to, though she can be sneaky in speculating the everyday madness within the team, holds shipping guessing games during off hours, and she can handle such madness so much before she could snap back in sharp anger. Her girlfriend Haruka, their friend Setsuna, their foster daughter Hotaru, and the Inner Senshi are regulars to the cafe; sometimes Michiru would give the Outer Senshi something to eat for the day ahead before the next shift starts. Meanwhile, Ron is the witty sarcastic joker who never fails to multitasking the stuff he’s given, although he does have insecurity issues being mostly underappreciated by his own family and he does have concerns over his siblings being more off-kilter than he is (mostly with his older twin brothers Fred and George). It got a little worse when his sister Ginny tried to flirt with Harry and Ron had to reprimand her in front of the public out of concern; since the incident, she has moved from trying to get Harry’s attention to dating an unknown person instead.

Hermione is the dutiful by the books barista who wouldn’t dare to break the rules in everyday life and in work but does do it anyway in mild amounts. One of the well-read of the staff (outside Mari, Philip, the Doctor, and Michiru), has an adorable awkward relationship with Ron, manager of the library in the cafe, and knows nearly all drink recipes by heart and mind.

Harry is the kitchen manager of the cafe: responsible for checking & ordering ingredient supplies and running the kitchen, Team Dad, knows how the business works, normally chill guy to talk to, but man this guy has a temper! He’ll crush you with brutal honesty if you’re being a jerk. Has a crush on Issa (who’s a regular frequenting the place as a journalist working nearby, to which he responds through shy blushing and ducking under the register), best (overprotective) brother to Mari and Kairi, and bad customers & employees’ worst nightmare. Harry never lets them to get away with it and will make bad customers to leave and bad employees to do kitchen chores as a punishment should they get out of line.

Kairi is the resident latte art maker: people never forget the creative doodles she makes on their drinks (thanks to her art degree) & her calligraphy-like way of writing their names in the cups, up and about in fulfilling orders, and always there to give you a smile. Dates Sora the barista, and can be too much of a chatterbox at times.

Sora and Riku also work as baristas: Sora is the adorkable excitable bean and Riku is the calm & collected dude. The kids’ childhood friends, and since Sora & Kairi are dating, Riku will tease the two out of fun and Mari & Harry often join him as well for the same reasons. Sora finds it really awkward to deal with that they’re working altogether under one roof, although Kairi doesn’t seem to mind it in ever.

Marina may only work in the cafe part-time on weekends and holidays and being mute can be an obstacle for her when it comes to getting orders, but she’s a dedicated employee willing to help out, has a patience of a saint, and is quick in taking orders on paper like a soldier at war, although her usual self-sacrificing habit can be taxing on her mental health and it does worry Mari, the cafe staff, and her adopted folks a couple of times. It doesn’t even help that Ventus also works as a part-time employee in the cafe too, which leads to tons of adorable crush moments between the two as they help out the business. Mari’s family wants to make sure that the cafe is safe for everyone to come over and to work in regardless of religion, race, sexuality, disabilities, etc., and especially with Mari being autistic and Harry being a survivor of child abuse. The cafe taking in Marina and a few others further strengthens this belief even more and they are hoping to find and train more employees with disabilities in the near future, as well as treating them right as they do with Marina.

Mari is the assistant manager to the Doctor and the actual heiress to the business, but she’s basically the heart of the group: ensuring that the whole place doesn’t burn and running efficiently as heck. Will mince you with harsh brutally honest words if you dare to cross her, the customers, her family and friends, and everyone else. Quite smart for her age, though her Asperger-induced social awkwardness can be a weak point and it frustrates her a lot.

Philip is another new hire to the cafe and is low key having a noticeable crush on Mari, but he couldn’t spill it out. He and Mari don’t usually see each other often due to him working in a different shift, but there are multiple times when the cafe is understaffed and needs more back up during the more intense rush hours, and he is assigned to the same shift as Mari’s schedule: that’s when sparks do fly between them and it gets adorable and awkward at the same time. Their mutual friend, Theodosia Burr, is a regular taking up Law and she highly suspects that Philip is hiding his feelings towards Mari, hence her constant nagging on him to go on a date with Mari (which is not happening, yet).

Issa, as said above in Harry’s section, is a rising star journalist whose work place is near to the cafe, and that fact is helpful for her whenever she needs to get something to eat or get her coffee fix. Her frequent visits has become more awkward on Harry’s part as he began to develop romantic feelings for her as she does, but he’s such as nervous wreck that he would duck and hide whenever he sees her face to face for longer than he wanted to. Ahk’s her co-worker in the news agency in this AU: not too crazy for coffee but enjoys the ambiance of the place and does like other food & drink offerings as well.

As for everyone else? They’re all cafe regulars, the same applies to nearly all the self shippers and other f/os I know of. Sure, some of them can be rowdy at times, but they’re not that terrible compared to the ruder customers the cafe rarely gets. It’s because the cafe won’t tolerate any crap from the nasty customers and they simply avoided the cafe anyway.
