Guess whos back! Back again! Tizz I with my OCs! And were starting off with *Drum roll*
Knowledgeseeker, the oldest living Nightwings.
Knowledgeseeker was in the 1st generation of Nightwings to be born with powers, hatching under 1 full Moon he has the gift of Mind reading.
As his name would suggest, he loves seeking out knowledge, learning all that he can about things, this is what made him a favoured mortal of Nightvale.
Nightvale offered Knowledgeseeker one gift of his choosing, and he chose to have time to learn about everything, which essentially turned him Immortal.
Knowledgeseeker will only die when he feels he's learnt all that he can, but as history keeps unfolding as questions keep popping up and as the tribes develop he'll be alive for a long time, possibly out living even his own Tribe.

Know I have a little thing I want to do with Knowledgeseeker it's nothing big like the story with Macaw and Saguaro, but it's something.

Mastering the Art of Critical Thinking: A Comprehensive Guide to Sharpen Your Mind
Tumblr media
In our information-saturated world, the ability to think critically has never been more crucial. Critical thinking is the cornerstone of informed decision-making, effective problem-solving, and meaningful engagement with the world around us. Whether you're navigating personal challenges, climbing the career ladder, or participating in societal discourse, honing your critical thinking skills can lead to more profound insights and better outcomes. Imagine making decisions with clarity, solving problems with confidence, and contributing to society in a meaningful way. This guide will take you on a journey to develop and refine these essential skills, transforming the way you process information and approach life's complexities.
What is Critical Thinking?
Critical thinking is the art of analyzing information objectively to form reasoned judgments. It's a multifaceted skill that encompasses:
Observation
Analysis
Interpretation
Reflection
Evaluation
Inference
Explanation
Problem-solving
Decision-making
At its core, critical thinking is about balancing open-mindedness with healthy skepticism, carefully weighing evidence before drawing conclusions or making decisions. For instance, imagine you're reading a news article about a new health trend. Instead of immediately accepting the information, you pause, research the sources, and evaluate the evidence. This is critical thinking in action.
The Importance of Critical Thinking
Personal Growth:
Enhances decision-making in daily life
Improves problem-solving abilities
Aligns choices with personal values and goals
Professional Success:
Essential for navigating workplace challenges
Valued by employers for innovation and leadership
Facilitates career advancement
Societal Contribution:
Promotes informed civic engagement
Fosters a more thoughtful and engaged community
Helps combat misinformation and manipulation
Steps to Develop Critical Thinking Skills
Cultivate Curiosity Curiosity is the engine that drives critical thinking. Embrace your inner child and never stop asking "why" and "how." For example, when you come across a claim that interests you, dig deeper to understand the underlying reasons.
Practical Exercise: The Five Whys
Choose a situation or problem and ask "why" five times in succession. Each answer forms the basis of the next question. This technique helps uncover root causes and deepens understanding.
Example:
Problem: I'm often late for work.
Why? Because I oversleep.
Why? Because I stay up too late.
Why? Because I get caught up watching TV.
Why? Because I use it to unwind after a stressful day.
Why? Because I haven't developed effective stress management techniques.
Engage in Active Learning Transform from a passive consumer of information to an active seeker of knowledge. This means not just reading but questioning, discussing, and teaching others what you've learned.
Practical Exercise: The Feynman Technique
Choose a concept to learn.
Explain it to a 12-year-old (or pretend to).
Identify gaps in your explanation.
Review and simplify.
Example: If you're learning about blockchain technology, try explaining it to a friend in simple terms. This will highlight any areas you need to understand better.
Practice Reflection Regular reflection helps you understand your thought processes and identify areas for improvement.
Practical Exercise: Decision Journal
Keep a journal of important decisions you make. For each decision, record:
The situation
Your thought process
The outcome
Lessons learned
Review this journal periodically to identify patterns and areas for improvement in your decision-making process.
Personal Anecdote: Reflect on a significant decision you made, what you learned from it, and how it shaped your future decisions.
Analyze Arguments and Evidence Develop the ability to break down arguments and evaluate supporting evidence. This is crucial in distinguishing between well-supported claims and those lacking substance.
Practical Exercise: CRAAP Test
When evaluating sources, use the CRAAP test:
Currency: Is the information up-to-date?
Relevance: Does it apply to your needs?
Authority: Who is the author/publisher?
Accuracy: Is the information supported by evidence?
Purpose: Why does this information exist?
Example: Apply the CRAAP test to a news article about a recent scientific study to assess its credibility.
Improve Communication Skills Clear communication is crucial for both expressing and understanding complex ideas. Practice active listening, engage in debates, and write regularly.
Practical Exercise: Steelman Argument
Instead of attacking the weakest point of an opposing view (strawman), try to present the strongest possible version of the opposing argument before responding. This exercise improves your ability to understand and articulate different perspectives.
Example: When debating a controversial topic, first articulate the strongest arguments of the opposing side before presenting your counterarguments.
Embrace Open-Mindedness Be willing to consider different viewpoints and revise your opinions when presented with new evidence.
Practical Exercise: Belief Challenge
Regularly challenge one of your strongly held beliefs. Research opposing viewpoints from credible sources and try to understand their perspective. You don't have to change your mind, but the exercise will broaden your understanding.
Example: If you strongly believe in a particular political ideology, spend time reading credible sources that present the opposing view and reflect on their arguments.
Develop Problem-Solving Strategies Learn and practice various techniques to approach problems methodically. This will help you tackle complex issues more effectively.
Practical Exercise: Mind Mapping
When faced with a complex problem:
Write the main issue in the center of a page.
Branch out with related subtopics.
Continue branching with more specific details.
Look for connections between branches.
Example: Use mind mapping to plan a large project, breaking it down into manageable parts and identifying potential challenges.
Seek Feedback Regular, constructive feedback is essential for identifying blind spots and areas for improvement.
Practical Exercise: 360-Degree Feedback
Ask for feedback from peers, subordinates, and superiors on your critical thinking and decision-making skills. Use a standardized set of questions to get comprehensive insights.
Personal Anecdote: Share how 360-degree feedback helped you grow and refine your critical thinking skills.
Overcoming Common Obstacles to Critical Thinking
Cognitive Biases: Be aware of common biases like confirmation bias or anchoring bias. Regular self-reflection can help identify when these are influencing your thinking.
Information Overload: Develop strong information literacy skills to effectively filter and evaluate information.
Emotional Reasoning: Practice emotional intelligence to recognize when emotions are clouding your judgment.
Time Pressure: When possible, build in time for thorough analysis. For urgent decisions, have a streamlined critical thinking process ready.
Groupthink: Actively seek out diverse perspectives and encourage respectful disagreement in group settings.
Conclusion
Developing critical thinking skills is a lifelong journey that can transform every aspect of your life. By implementing these strategies and consistently practicing the exercises provided, you'll sharpen your analytical abilities, make more informed decisions, and approach complex problems with confidence. Remember, the path to becoming a masterful critical thinker is ongoing, but the rewards are immeasurable. Start with one technique today and gradually incorporate others into your daily routine. Your future self will thank you for the investment in your cognitive abilities.

I've made some fellas that are more NPCs for another of my characters, but they have some lore of their own!
Tumblr media
First up is Morwong, a Sea/MudWing hybrid who is a professor of Social Studies at the University of Pyrrhia. He has four siblings and their relationship to one another is much like that of MudWing siblings. Alfonsino is the bigwings, Morwong is the second eldest, and his other siblings are Chub and Opaleye.
He's been living in Possibility for a few decades, visiting his siblings on the coast of the Mud Kingdom as often as he can. He gets along very well with students due to his youthful energy and spontaneity.
Morwong and Knowledgeseeker meet at the orientation dinner held at the beginning of each year, this year being Knowledgeseeker's first as a professor at the University. They bond over their love for wine and Morwong pushes her to be more outgoing and confident.
While Morwong mostly appears SeaWing, some of his glow scales did not fully form, so he cannot fluently speak Aquatic (most of his sibs can).
Tumblr media
Next is the bartender, Aria. He's just a RainWing trying to make a living in Possibility who happened to be bartending the orientation dinner/party thing. Knowledgeseeker was drawn to his chill vibe. That's pretty much all he's there for, just imagined him very pretty and wanted to draw him :P
Tumblr media
Aaaand a quick sketch of Knowledgeseeker sitting there before Morwong came over and started yapping at her. Ya.

1. Tell her about the chat pls 😭
2. Set alarms for sleep and food breaks. Even if it's psychological, meeting our psychological needs will keep us in better metaphorical fighting form for whatever this world throws our way. Put a timer on one of our phones and leave it with the fleshes so they don't get too worried.
3. Box in one of the grand knowledgeseekers' creatures and then unfreeze them so we can ask them about the questions we have? Probably the box needs a hole for us to touch to unfreeze and for them to speak through. Or would they be able to transform the box.

hiii ^-^ 13. Do you get jealous easily? 24. Do you think you'll be married in 5 years? 32. Have you ever experienced unrequited love? 48. If the person you like says they like someone else, what would you say? 56. State 8 facts about your body. 58. What are 5 ways to win your heart? 73. What's something sweet you'd like someone to do for you? sorry thats a lot i feel like the #KnowledgeSeeker rn :3c
13. ive answered this one before but yup. not of like people in particular because im a lover but i get so jealous of their circumstances that it comes out as being jealous of them in ways. but theres a difference its hard for me to hate people. im too much of a sensitive materialist
24. not really. in my 30's sure i could see getting married but my relationship experience so far is long-distance dating for a year and then a few almosts so i doubt anything will change suddenly in the next cycle. sad i know but im resigned to my fate
32. as far as im concerned, all love is unrequited love. im so experienced with unrequited love that the smiths approached me for advice when writing their songs. ive got more unrequited love than an yuri anthology. if unrequited love was a girl id stare wistfully at her back
48. genuinely, id be happy for them. like yeah id get sad but i want them to be happy and them being in love with someone else makes them happy so its just obvious lol. like i get that people might confess or view their "love rival" with jealousy but thats not my style. i yearn - not crave.
56. 1. ive got a pretty distinctive scar on my right hand 2. i want to have longer fingernails but i tend to pick at them so they tend to be short 3. jeez 8 questions like what do you want my 3 sizes or something. ummm one of my shins is shaped different from the other for some reason or another 4. womans 11 shoes 5. ive got long legs which makes finding pants a nightmare but sprinting a dream. i guess. 6. since pants are mostly off the table skirts are usually a good option and im a size small for most skirts. shirts im medium but thats because ive got a freak body that womens clothes manufacurers haaaate 7. again freak body so im directly in between a and b cup. pervert 8. i dont feel my hunger usually and when i do i can usually ignore it so im the perfect bhuddist subsisting only on dew and pictures of beautifyl women 9. demon eye
58. fuuuuuuck so many lists. 1. you cant. even trying is a lesson in futility
73. literally just pay attention to me and be within hanging out distance. i dont need much
