Suddenly had the urge to quickly draw humanisation Kwazzi- so here is my attempt, still experimenting but I thought he’d look cool with longer hair and it was nice hair practice

What do you think the Octonauts would do if they met the Wild Kratt's team?

Hello! I don't know when I last touched Tumblr, and I apologize for taking so long to answer this question, but I'm back!

-Answer-

If the Octonauts met Wild Kratts, circumstances would depend on how they reacted.

For example, if they appeared in the world of the Wild Kratts, adjusted to fit their world (appeared as humans), I imagine a series of dazed confusion and plenty of flooding questions (and vice versa for the two teams if it was the Octonauts world).

Captain Barnacles would try to make sense- look at it logically even if overwhelmed. He changed from the body he was used to with no clear way of getting home. So, of course- the bulk of his body would need time to comprehend. The same applies to everyone else- adjusting to their new appearances.

However, upon meeting the Kratt crew, you can imagine friendly competition ensued. Kwazzi would be very fond of Martin (troublemakers), Tweak and Aviva would be good friends, Captain Barnacles and Chris, Dashi, Shellington, and Koki, Peso and Jimmy. Professor Inkling finds himself regularly rotating between everyone, fond of hearing the knowledge they have to share (and learning more about how this world views their species).

Martin and Kwazzi would race Buzz Bikes or any of the vehicles. And both are known quite well for crashing them. There are a lot of calls to Aviva and Tweak, though, together, the two come up with better vehicles based on each other's expertise.

Shellington gawks over the technology and marine biology studies. He adores everything new that he learns, and the higher accessibility he has to a base of marine and terra-based organisms. Koki freely gives him access to all the computers- along with Dashi (who has begun priding herself in taking pictures to share with the Wild Kratt Kids).

Barnacles and Chris are a more interesting duo. While their personalities don't match much, they would easily be able to work together. Easily coordinated- and both have a teammate who runs off on a whim. However, Chris is more openly light-hearted and playful. Barnacles is stern- though he allows his light-hearted side to see the light of day.

Peso and Jimmy, I feel, would bond over a shared anxiety for most things. However, Peso more readily dives into action while Jimmy takes a little more pushing. Jimmy would teach Peso to play video games and Peso would teach him to wrap bandages more efficiently.

Overall, their adjustment would cause problems (and the actual introduction of antagonists). Yet, it would be a lovely experience for all of them! (If anyone would be interested, I will gladly explain how I think interactions between the antagonists and the Octonauts would go- as well as introduce some of the other characters from Octonauts (Panni, Natquick, etc...!)

Something I wish I could do was meet kwazzi irl, as all octonauts fans wanna do, but I just know it would go HORRIBLY. Bc, we r very different in one way, which changes everything. He hates spiders, I adore them. And bc I cant go 5 seconds without telling people about the trapdoor spider, the cellar spider, or peacock jumping spider (specifically Maratus volans), he would’ve been terrified if we even got through half of a conversation. (I do recommend searching up the spiders I named, same with the sand spider, or I can do a post on them if y’all would like, so tell me if y’all would wanna see that ok toodles)

‼️‼️THE GRAMPA SQUAD COMIC IS DONE‼️‼️

Ok so, wee explanation + headcannons under the cut.

Ok so assuming you've stuck around for my insane ramblings, heres the gist:

This comic is very much inspired by Factual Fantasy's Comics about Marsh, Natquick, and Calico Jack. And while my personal head cannon does share in the idea of the group working together- I thought it would be hilariously fun to include Inkling, and tbh it focuses more on him than the others anyway.

In the show, inkling doesn't really get out much. There are really only a few episodes where he has a significant role, and even less when he actually participates in missions outside of *insert knowledgeable insight*.

I believe this is for 2 reasons:

He just prefers the comfortable vibe of his library. The book-worm role fits his personality well - enjoying studying or cataloging species alongside Shellington - and he likes spending time with the Vegimals.

His Mobility issues. While he can very easily traverse the watery environments in the base show- in a&b, he doesn't really show much interest in exploring the land until he's told an old friend was the one in need of help. He has the ability, its just difficult- and he knows his limitations.

Inkling has his hover chair, that allows him to move around the octopod relatively easily. However - in the Min episode - they make it a point that he cant take it with him on land, or use it over rough terrain.

My version of Inkling uses an actual wheelchair, so I thought it'd be a neat idea that after that adventure- he'd want to try joining missions more often. And to deal with said mobility issues and limitations- say they got specialized tires for his wheelchair- so he could go join up on land missions more often.

After going on a few more missions with the other Octonauts, he hears about Octoagents Calico Jack, and Professor Natquick joining up with Ranger Marsh to help out in the Everglades- you best bet he jumped at the opportunity to tag along. Think of all the species he could ad to his personal catalogue. They might even discover a few new ones! Leaving the Octopod for so long after being basically the one constant to the place was a bit scary sure - and the other Octonauts were certainly emotional ab him leaving (especially Barnacles) - but maybe a change of scenery would do him good.

Sooo He does that! Professor Inkling meets up with the others on a dock near Marsh's Ranger station and get to work! One of the coolest things they did was collecting egg samples and catching an adult specimen of a newly discovered trapdoor spider! the Pine Rockland Trapdoor. Marsh Has a nursery where he cares for tons of snakes, lizards, insects and birds to make sure they have the best chance for survival. Thats where these eggs are going- to hatch in safety and then be released back into the ecosystem. On top of that, they take samples of the adults venom for study, and inkling is sure to make a detailed report of the arachnid in his many journals brought along with him!

As you may expect, Kwazzi takes after his grandad in his fear of spiders. Jack has seen worse, but It doesnt make it any easier to be close to them. Natquick on the other hand- In all his time in the arctic hes never seen anything as freaky as a spider bigger than a quarter.

Aaand that's it! I'm hoping to do some more comics with the lads in the future, although probably not as detailed as this one. It took more than 2 weeks- please.

Also, I find it kinda goofy that the panels get more detailed as you go along. Thats what happens when the first and last panel were made almost a month apart from each other. 💚

Also also- yes I did do actual research for the animals in the last comic. It was going to be a funnel web spider they're researching, but then I looked it up and found out Funnelwebs don't live in the Everglades. :']

Why the Octonauts episodes release are taking so long to be released gobally (theory)

This is an idea that crossed my mind this morning. I don't known from where I took this information of China being so hard to convince to distribute a series on their country, maybe from Steven universe but nothing is comfirmed so take this whith a graint of salt.

The think is that China is a very reserved country whith a very unique culture. And the Octonauts, are very popular on there.

So that makes me think that someone or some group on preproduction or the category who decides the terms and conditions on distribution (idk if it the same group who put the money, I don´t fully known how an animation empress works), decided that the season five, along whith the rest of new content, have to be China exclusive for a while for some reason.

On another point, the evidence that the series has become very China centric decades on a special saga named "Journey to China". A spinoff that takes the "chinification" of the series to the extreme (and it's actually very probably to be a series that never leaves China legally, and that we never have an official dubbing into other languages of it for the rest of the world due to the circumstances. But remember, this is all speculaion and nothing is confirmed).

Another efect of the "chinafication" of the show, is the appearence of new characters bassed on chinesse animals. The most notorious would be Min the red panda and Paani, who is a species of monkey that despite coming from India, can also be found on China. He also replaces Kwazzi in most of the episodes of above an beyond (presumibly due to the chinafication)

This would be the end of my theory, remember that all is especulative and that nothing confirmed, put your thoughts on the comments

You've got that right about me, the immortal jellyfish mission has been my favorite thus far. However, aside from that, I'd have to say my favorite mission was when we re-discovered the coelacanth, because it was an incredible scientific discovery, and some anthros just couldn't believe it! But, the hidden lake in Antarctica was amazing too, it felt like being on a whole different planet, and I also discovered some living creatures there myself! I just really like the discovery aspect of missions, I suppose. And it always feels nice when the Octonauts make contributions to the textbooks.

How old do you think The Octonauts are?

Oh geez, it’s been so long since I had anyone ask me about the Octonauts, haha! I think I  had their ages written down–er, somewhere–so let’s see….

Professor Inkling is the oldest, of course, since he is the founder. Ignoring how long actual octopi live for–since it’s not too fairly long–I headcanoned that Inkling is maybe 60.  

Captain Barnacles is next, I figured that he and his twin sister would be in their mid thirties [33-36?]. I headcanoned that his sister had been busy patrolling the arctic so that was why she decided to have kids so late in her life. Cap’n keeps a good figure for his age, I mean, he can lift giant clams for god’s sake.

Shellington is 28 and Kwazii is 26, this I remember. I’m not sure why I had thought those numbers up but it made sense to me. 

Tweak and Dashi are both 24! I thought I can keep their age the same for the sake of their close friendship. [Kinda like a whole: “--I’m 24″ “ohmygosh! Me too!” and then they find more interests and hobbies V: ] 

Peso is the youngest at 21-22? Basic EMT training is from 6months to 2 years with at least 120-150 hours of coursework but being that Peso does a really good job, I thought that he would’ve taken the Medic course when he was 18 and then gained tons of experience since then.

ALSO i envy your knowlege bc this hyperfixation is rather recent and i cam only consume media off netflix which is A Pity. ANYWAY I saw your post about kwazzi redemption arc and if this wasnt a kids show i feel like there would definitely be so much plot involving the cat pirates. Going off that- i know the cats bwing pirates thing is probably for simplicities sakw, to be consistent with kwazzi being a cat but I kind of wonder if its a nod to how actual cats are p mischivious. Also. Persobally offended the mantis shrimp episode didnt include the Shrimp Colours Tm

The whole "there would totally be more intense lore if the age demographic was higher" thing is something I say to myself CONSTANTLY.

I genuinely believe with all my heart and soul, that Octonauts needs more recognition as a show for all ages. I think it should be seen as such because it's literally so good. It deserves a bigger fandom.

I like to imagine in Octonauts-world that all* cats are pirates; not all pirates are cats, but all cats are pirates. Anyone can wear an eyepatch, but creatures still instantly identify Kwazii as a pirate: probably because he's a cat.

(*there might be a few castaways here or there who rejected that life, which I'd LOVE to see explored if my theory turns out to be true one day.)

—I just thought of a joke where Tweak makes "shrimp vision" goggles (similar to the "damselfish vision" goggles) and Kwazii puts them on. Then he takes them off. And he's just like

"I will never be the same."
