Grantaire waited for Lamarque to object, to tell him it would weigh him down. Their mentor only leaned back thoughtfully. “Interesting. Why?” 

Enjolras took a deep breath, and Grantaire could see the wheels turning as he gathered his thoughts. “He’s the youngest tribute. It’s terrible that anyone has to be forced into the Games, but it’s even more egregious when it’s a fourteen year old. I don’t plan on winning. To win would require me to sacrifice my morals. The Jardin wants us to kill one another, so what better way to defy them than to make my goal to get Gavroche out alive?”
