Hip hip hooray!
The Newsreader has now been used as a game show quiz question! It and Anna Torv got a nod to on Tuesday 18th April on The Chase Australia!
Disappointed in you not getting the question right, Chris!!! I would’ve screamed!
So funny that Evelyn calls Helen a “game show girl” throughout the show, and here Anna Torv is being used as a game show question this week! Love that for her!

TW for mentions of vomiting. Please comment if you think I need to TW anything else.
There will be a second chapter up on ao3 at some point.
Pairing-Colm Doherty/Pádraic Súilleabháin (Implied)
Pádraic is sick with the flu, after getting a letter from Siobhán,Colm comes to help nurse him back to health.
Tumblr media
Pádraic lay in bed, sick with the flu. He hadn't felt this sick since he was a young lad. Maybe it was because Siobhán wasn't here, nor his mammy. When he was young and sick his mammy would rest a damp rag on his forehead and feed him soup. After their mammy went and he'd come down with the sickness,Siobhán would do the same, she'd rest a damp rag on his forehead, sometimes she would let Jenny in the house, but, now Pádraic was alone. Siobhán was gone. Jenny was dead. Colm thought he was dull. Even Dominic thought he was no longer nice, just like the rest of them. There was a brief rap on the door before the sound of it creaking open.
“Pádraic?” the sound of Colm's voice,Pádraic made a very low whining noise. If he did not feel so sick to his stomach,he might've rolled over in his bed..okay,he was laying in Siobhán's bed,he felt so sick. “Pádraic? I'm coming into your room” Colm moved the curtains dividing the bedroom from the living room “Oh..you look terrible.”
“Go away. You don't want to see me and I don't want to see you.” Pádraic spoke raspily, his voice was hoarse from not speaking to anybody on top of being sick.
“Aye. Siobhán sent a letter back with a lad on the boat. Said you've been sick, she asked me to come look after you,so,here I am.” Pádraic remained quiet but watched as Colm emptied the sick from the bucket by his bed,as he went back into the kitchen and dampened a rag. When he returned he folded it and laid it on Pádraic's forehead.
“Siobhán sent you?” Colm nodded as he took a seat on the bed across from Pádraic “and you came?”
Colm stared at him for a few seconds, looking over his pale and sweaty face “I couldn't just let you sit..uh..lay here sick with the flu.”
“At least I have an excuse to be dull now.” Colm shifted in his spot, looking away,he couldn't bear looking at Pádraic's face,he was pale and sweating, bits of dried puke around his mouth, bags under his eyes. He couldn't help but feel bad for the fella,he'd intended to come in,make sure Pádraic wasn't dead in his bed, feed him and give him more water and then leave.
“I suppose that's true” Colm paused, getting up “Are you hungry?” Pádraic shook his head “Yeah you are,I'll make you something..maybe some soup” Colm went into the kitchen and began to make a soup with what little food Pádraic had in the cupboards.
“Colm?” Colm looked at the soup, figuring it'd be okay without him in the kitchen for a few minutes,he nodded, going into the bedroom.
“Yes,Pádraic?” Colm tried hard,he spoke softly, not wanting Pádraic to know how much he didn't want to be him.
“Are you going to leave after you make me food?” Colm thought over Pádraic's question,he considered answering yes, but,Pádraic looked so pathetic in Siobhán's bed, covers kicked to the foot of the bed,in his boxers and undershirt.
“I'll stay. I'll make you dinner, eat in here with you and then I'll help you wash up,stay here till you fall asleep. Now,I have to go dish up the soup, stay here,I'll bring you a dish” Colm got up and went into the kitchen, getting two bowls and pouring some soup into them. He took them into the bedroom and grabbed the pitcher of water off the bedside table, refilling Pádraic's cup.
“Thank you for cooking,Colm” Colm nods and helps Pádraic sit up in bed, propping him up with the pillows. He sits down on Siobhán's bed with Pádraic, reaching for the bowl and feeding him the soup. Pádraic hums softly “It's good..but you don't have to feed me.”
“I don't mind..too much” Colm waved his hand dismissively before feeding him some more. He helped Pádraic eat, occasionally giving him sips of water between bites. They sit in silence, after Colm helps Pádraic eat,he finishes his own soup then gets up,taking the dishes back to the kitchen. Colm goes back into the bedroom, helping Pádraic up completely before taking him to the bathroom. He picked Pádraic up with ease, setting him on the counter before filling the tub with lukewarm water. Once the tub was half filled,he turned his attention back towards Pádraic.
“Thank you..” Pádraic nodded slightly, going a pale shade of pink as Colm began undressing him, sliding his undershirt off before helping him to his feet and sliding down his boxers. They'd been friends since they were young but Colm couldn't help noticing his own face heating up as he stared at Pádraic's naked body. He shook his head then helped him to lay in the tub.
“That's it,there's a good lad” Colm reached for a wash rag, lathering some soap on it,scrubbing Pádraic's face first before moving his hand lower. “You don't look so good,Pádraic, have you been eating?” Colm frowned as Pádraic shook his head ever so slightly as he watched Colm wash his chest and stomach then arms. “That's not good, maybe I oughta stay over for breakfast tomorrow…it's not too late,I could finish bathing you and then hurry up to the store and get the stuff for biscuits and gravy” Pádraic nods.
“That sounds good..you could sleep on my bed.”
“Aye..not many other options” Colm moves his hands further down, washing Pádraic's legs and then his privates. Pádraic watched Colm's hands, staring at the spots where fingers used to be,he couldn't help but think about how difficult that would make it when th- No. He couldn't think about that,Colm would never want to be his friend if he knew that Pádraic was having impure thoughts about him.
“Thank you..” Pádraic mumbled as Colm wrapped him in a towel and helped him stand up. Pádraic tries to lift his leg up,but,he nearly falls over. Colm catches him and picks him up bridal style, carrying him back to his room, setting him down on the bed.
“Let me grab you some clothes” Colm finds some pajama bottoms and an undershirt. He stares at the undershirt,it looked much too big for Pádraic “Whose shirt is this?” Colm starts drying Pádraic off before getting him dressed.
“I don't know..” Pádraic lays back down in bed once he's dried off and dressed.
“Looks like mine” Colm huffs softly when Pádraic lays back down. He sits down, pulling Pádraic's head into his lap gently, drying off his hair. He sings softly to Pádraic as he does so. Smiling softly when Pádraic falls asleep. He shifts a bit, leaning back against the wall, realizing he couldn't get up. He tosses the towel onto the other bed and very slowly moves to take off his outer layers, first his vest, then his button up and lastly his slacks, tossing them over onto the other bed, making sure Pádraic was still asleep before running his hands through his short hair. After a while, once he's really sure Pádraic is deep asleep he sighs. “I'm sorry we stopped being friends..because of my own impure thoughts. I just can't keep being just friends with ya. I need to go to sleep without the thought of holding you close. I need to actually hold you close and trace your lips with mine..run my hands through your hair and tell you I'm sorry. You don't deserve the way I've acted. You deserve so much better,Pád..”
Okay, that's all, thank you for reading!! I love all of my readers!!

Alex Gregory and Peter Huyck are the creative duo behind the highly anticipated HBO limited series White House Plumbers. The two executive producers have a long and impressive track record in the entertainment industry, having worked on hit shows such as Veep, The Larry Sanders Show, and King of the Hill. With their knack for sharp and incisive comedy, Gregory and Huyck bring their unique perspective to the political scandal that rocked the Nixon administration, providing a fresh and humorous take on the Watergate scandal that forever changed American history. Alex Gregory and Peter Huyck Interview: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m50hgBeMhSg WHITE HOUSE PLUMBERS takes the audience behind-the-scenes of the Watergate scandal as Nixon’s political saboteurs, E. Howard Hunt (Woody Harrelson) and G. Gordon Liddy (Justin Theroux), accidentally topple the presidency they were zealously trying to protect… and their families along with it. After failing upward, the unlikely pair lands on the Committee to Re-Elect the President, plotting several unbelievable covert ops – including bugging the Democratic National Committee offices at the Watergate complex. I follow 34 tumblr tags.
I check the Ashton Irwin tag several times a day, the Lashton tag once or twice a day, the Luke Hemmings tag about every other day, and the Larry Stylinson yah once a week or so.
The other 30 I ignore until they pop up on my dashboard.
Tagging this post with the first 30 tags and then reblogging with the other four. Open to other tags I should be checking out.

sooo if alw and the phantom team came to you and said celina, we are doing a new phantom anniversary performance + proshot. we need you to cast it but only with phantom vet and favorites; how would you do it? Who would you give cameos to? outside of casting, what would you want them to do differently than the 25th anniversary concert? :)
Gonna be honest, if ALW and co. came up to me, my first conversation might be something like this.
Me to Charles Hart, Richard Stilgoe, and the ghosts of Hal Prince, Gillian Lynne, and Maria Bjornson: I am so honored to have been contacted by you. Just know that I love what you created and respect each and every one of you so, so much.
Me to ALW: I know we’ve had our differences. I have called you several bad names in the past. I still don’t agree with you on everything. But thank you for your 2020 redemption arc.
Me to Cameron Mackintosh: Absolutely nothing I said above applies to you. Why are you even here. We don’t want you here. We don’t need you here.
Now as for casting... I’m sure you’ve heard me talk occasionally about the four most popular Phantoms, Christines, and Raouls in the phandom, so if we really want to cast based solely on that, it might look something like this:
Phantoms: Michael Crawford, Gerard Butler, Ramin Karimloo, Ben Lewis
Christines: Sarah Brightman, Emmy Rossum, Sierra Boggess, Anna O’Byrne
Raouls: Michael Ball, Patrick Wilson, Hadley Fraser, Simon Gleeson
This assumes that I do not have necromantic powers (though I am apparently talking to ghosts, so hmm...), otherwise I would raise Steve Barton from the dead to perform. But honestly, I would pay big money to see that cast. The Raouls will be fine, the Christines probably fine (a little iffy on Brightman’s voice, but at least Rossum has acquired a lot more training). I just really, really want to hear whatever Gerard Butler sounds like now against Michael Crawford’s light tenor, Ben Lewis’s dark baritone, and Ramin Karimloo’s untrained-but-he-can-fake-it voice. Come on. Imagine it.
But if I was to cast an actual stage cast... I would probably try for a mix of actors from older and newer productions, the flagship productions vs. international productions, long runners with newcomers, gearing towards people who have made a bit of name for themselves in theatre. So maybe something like:
Phantoms: John Owen-Jones, Hugh Panaro, Alexander Goebel, Henk Poort, Saulo Vasconcelos, Osamu Takai, Hong Kwang Ho, Ivan Ozhogin, Peter Joback, Anthony Warlow, Jonathan Roxmouth
Christines: Gina Beck, Ali Ewoldt, Luzia Nistler, Joke de Kruijf, Giulia Nadruz, Sae Yamamoto, Kim So Hyun, Tamara Kotova, Emmi Christensson, Ana Marina, Claire Lyon
Raouls: Danny Whitehead, John Riddle, Timothy Breese, Peter de Smet, Fred Silveira, (realizes I don’t know many Japanese Raouls), Son Jun Ho, Evgeny Zaycev, Anton Zetterholm, Alexander Lewis, Matt Leisy
Carlotta: Claire Moore / Rebecca Caine
Firmin and Andre: Edward Staudenmayer and David Benoit
Piangi: Uh... Larry Wayne Morbitt
Madame Giry: ... Jacinta Mulcahy?
Meg: ...Kelsey Connolly
And yes, I had to be selective, so don’t anybody start coming at me going, “But where’s Peter Karrie / Earl Carpenter / Franc D’Ambrosio / any other actor???” This list is long enough, life is about hard choices, etc. And yes, I included the the restaged tour by bringing on its managers AKA the best thing about the tour and most deserving of a chance to be in the original. I envision the different actors each taking on a different scene (don’t ask me to break down which one, I haven’t thought that far ahead) or even singing some of them together, and then having one massive sing-fest at the end.
I’m going to leave off the cameos, but as for what I’d change from the 25th anniversary, I’d probably just bring back some of the things it omitted, such as the Mirror Bride and the chandelier crash. I’d also eliminate the use of projections, which just made the stage seem too bright and empty.
And there you have it, my absolute mess of a concert.

May 15, 2020 (Friday)
I've grown to hate Friday nights. Fridays themselves have been quiet lately, and then along about 10:00 pm... wham. The Friday night news dump.
Tonight's news dump was Trump giving notice that he intends to fire yet another inspector general, this one from the State Department. Trump wants to replace Steve Linick, a career official from the Justice Department appointed to his position by President Barack Obama in 2013, with an ally of Vice President Mike Pence. Trump says he no longer has the “fullest confidence” in Linick. Trump plans to replace Linick with Stephen Akard, who was chief of staff for the Indiana Economic Development Corporation when Pence was Indiana governor.
Linick had issued a number of reports lately about Trump appointees retaliating against career employees. Even more important to Trump, perhaps, is that at the State Department, Linick oversaw Trump’s loyal Secretary of State, Mike Pompeo. Tonight, after news broke of Linick’s firing, Representative Eliot Engel (D-NY), who chairs the House Foreign Affairs Committee, tweeted on an official account that Linick had just opened an investigation into Pompeo. MSNBC reporter Chris Hayes noted that “Engel is an extremely cautious politician. For him to put this out is mind-blowing.”
Connecticut Senator Chris Murphy tweeted: “Using foreign aid to destroy rivals. Weaponizing the judiciary. Firing all the inspectors general. Democracies begin to die when a leader starts to destroy the limits on his power, and his faction decides that he is more important than the republic. Welcome to that moment.”
But Walter Schaub, who used to direct the U.S. Office of Government Ethics, points out that the law requires the president to give 30 days notice of such a removal because Congress intended for its members to be able to prevent exactly the sort of purge in which Trump is engaging. Republican Senators are required by law to stop this behavior… but they refuse. It is a mistake, Schaub points out, to consider this firing a done deal. Trump has to give notice so that Congress can weigh in. He has done so, and now it is in the hands of Congress, just as the previous notice that Trump was removing other inspector generals has been.
In other news, there is mounting pressure on the Justice Department to release the transcripts of the phone calls between Michael Flynn and Russian officials, both from people who believe the transcripts will exonerate him and from those who believe they will confirm his guilt. The Justice Department has released a trove of information about Flynn’s contacts with Russian Ambassador Sergey Kislyak, including confidential memos and internal deliberations. But it steadfastly refuses to release the transcripts, despite an order from Judge Emmet Sullivan to do so. Sullivan has recently named retired federal Judge John Gleeson to review Flynn’s case.
A follow up to yesterday’s news about Senator Richard Burr (R-NC) stepping down from his position as chair of the Senate Intelligence Committee during his investigation for insider trading: Before he stepped down, Burr submitted the final report of the committee on Russian interference in the 2016 election to the intelligence community for review so it can be declassified. That process could take many months, as it did for previous reports. In those cases, though, the committee did release a set of general findings before the final volume was available. Here… we’ll see.
The other big piece of news is that the House of Representatives has passed a new $3 trillion coronavirus relief bill. Both the president and Senate Republicans have said the bill is a non-starter; as such, it should be seen as a Democratic marker of the party’s priorities. The bill provides nearly $1 trillion for the state, local, and tribal governments that are suffering as the lack of tax revenue during this crisis is forcing them to slash social programs from their budgets. It provides direct payments to individuals, hazard pay for essential workers, money for coronavirus testing and contact tracing, unemployment benefits, housing support, student loan forgiveness, and food stamp money.
It also provides for universal mail-in ballots, and $25 billion for the United States Postal Service.
Meanwhile, White House National Economic Council Director Larry Kudlow has suggested reviving the economy not by putting money in the hands of ordinary Americans, but by slashing the 21% corporate tax rate, cutting it in half for companies willing to bring their operations back to the United States. The White House also wants liability protection for businesses that reopen, and a payroll tax cut. Such a cut would inject money into the economy immediately, but only by taking money that would otherwise fund social Security and Medicare.
The two approaches reveal very different visions of the way the economy works.

For the fanfic ask meme, B, H, I, L, R, Y?
B: Any of your stories inspired by personal experience?
Not necessarily inspired, but a lot of personal experiences have found their way *in*. The whole Tinder ‘verse is an obvious example — so much of it is a testament to my years in Maynooth, there are references to things I have actually done and read and felt and studied there. It’s practically overflowing with my obsessions and hyperfixations. love-light has some of it too in a different sort of way, and I bet there are loads others if I sat down and went through them one by one.
H: How would you describe your style?
Heavy on thoughts and feelings and spare on description and details except where they matter. I suppose impressionistic
I: Do you have a guilty pleasure in fic (reading or writing)?
Sometimes a person just needs to sit down and read about death and grief and moments of tenderness. Similarly sometimes a person just needs to sit down and shoehorn in references to things they love that no one else will appreciate without detailed author’s notes, and both of those things are *fine*
Also contrary to popular belief, I do not read solely angsty gay fic (but when I do I really enjoy it). There is room for fluff in my life.
And I love a good Sirius-survives-OotP-and-he-and-Remus-are-very-gay-and-adopt-Harry fic
Just give me all the resurrection fics. And the utterly Wild aus where Voldemort is defeated in some ridiculous manner. And the Wilder AUs where Sirius is somehow a competent teacher.
Most of my guilty pleasures are found in Harry Potter fic and that’s fine too
L: What’s the weirdest AU you’ve ever written?
Dead Water. I don’t even have to think about it. Everything about it is out there and primal and I don’t talk about it half enough but it was extremely cathartic and I love everything about that chaotic mess. I always wish it had gotten more attention, but it’s a very strange fic and it was posted during a major decline in engagement with fic (as far as I could see anyway) so I understand why it didn’t do better but I’ll always feel a bit disappointed over it. It remains very special to me. Plus it was my first OT3.
For all that it is strange, it is also immensely sensual
R: Are there any writers (fanfic or otherwise) that you consider an influence?
I know I have definitely been influenced by fic writers. You’re one of them. @yeats-infection is another. There are probably hundreds of them out there. But there are some original writers too — Douglas Preston a bit, and Louis L’Amour, Danielle Steel to some extent, Philip Pullman 100%, Dick Francis, Larry McMurtry, Darren Shan, the actual queen that is Mary Doria Russell. Sinéad Gleeson. Maybe Margaret Atwood. Probably loads more
Y: A character you want to protect
John Henry. Tinder!Erik’s uncle Al.
Christine, constantly. Also Raoul, constantly. And Philippe, and Sorelli. The Daroga. Depending on my mood and the ‘verse, Erik himself. Tinder!Erik all of the time. Delta!Erik lived his best life even with how it ended
