20221128: today’s reconstruction is almost the last of the classic space sets. this is 6970: Beta-1 Command Base. it was definitely a neat build that didn’t take too much time but I seriously have concerns about a lot of their safety issues. for instance: the shuttle has two rockets where the passengers sit between them with zero protection. also, this isn’t like a safe shuttle at all, as there’s also nothing to prevent the passengers from floating right off into space (if they survive getting off the ground and aren’t thrown out behind the rockets to be instantly incinerated). at least the terminal has steps to get up and down from the platform and at least the front of the passenger car has a guard rail (though nothing to prevent them from falling off sideways). I suppose in a situation with limited gravity, you wouldn’t worry too much about people plummeting to their deaths but the station itself also doesn’t have any atmospheric protection, which means they should not be taking off their helmets to enjoy beverages, as implied by the mug on the table. overall? a fun build to inspire good creativity but not a design to mimic for real-life space travel :D

I LOVED the Acolyte finale and wanted to try my best to recreate 2 of my favorite shots: Qimir throwing his lightsabers at Sol, and Osha bleeding Sol's kyber crystal. This is my first time using the minifigs hand method for a lightsaber and while it isn't my favorite, it was the best way to make the bleeding crystal without any editing to the photo

-> First thing they notice in a person: How they carry themselves. Nova tends to make judgements based off of it, whether those judgements are right or wrong is up for debate.

-> On a scale of 1-10, how high is their pain tolerance? Probably around an 8! Girl's been through some shit.

-> Do they go into fight or flight mode when under pressure? Fight, always. Whether it's physical fighting to defend herself or a verbal argument...she will fight you.

-> Do they come from a big family/are they a family person? No and no. She's an only child with a poor relationship to her blood relatives so she's never been one for family.

-> What animal represents them best? Maybe a tiger! Since they symbolize courage and strength...and they're pretty badass.

-> What is a smell they dislike? Popcorn is number one, she just thinks it's gross

-> Have they broken any bones? Multiple, yes. Her line of work isn't exactly OSHA approved

-> How would a stranger likely describe them? Strangers often describe her as cold, ruthless, and intimidating. The scowl on her face does her no favors (resting bitch face queen)

-> Are they a night owl or morning bird? Night owl but forced to be a morning bird...she has no sleep schedule.

-> What is a flavor they hate and a flavor they love? She hates anything banana flavored (valid), but loves anything cherry flavored (girl why)

-> Do they have any hobbies? She looooves reading! She always has at least 2 books going at a time. She's unstoppable. She also journals, and tries fish keeping but well. She's not very good at it. And then of course, building model space ships. *sigh* she would have loved legos.

-> Boom, surprise birthday party! How do they react to surprises? Do not do this lmao. Nova is a planner, she doesn't like unexpected anything let alone a party. tbh her instincts would kick in and she would probably punch the first person she sees

-> Do they like to wear jewelry? No. She's gotten used to not wearing any that she never really thinks about it, and she just...forgets jewelry even exists. She does have EDI's ring though- she just keeps it in the box tucked away for safe keeping.

-> Do they have messy handwriting? Absolutely. She never learned to write (everything was digital), so if she writes anything at all, it's bound to be a disaster.

-> What are the two emotions they feel the most? Anxiety and frustration

-> Do they have a fabric? I don't know enough about fabrics to answer this 😅 I guess...wool maybe? It's kind of scratchy...like her personality

-> What kind of accent do they have? Standard American. Her voice claim is canon fem!Shep so!

With that in mind, I’d like to compile a list of Totally Canon Facts about the FSM:

• AND HORNS

• basically he is significantly less human than the show has shown, mostly because he. he literally. Isn’t Human.

• yeah he created spinjitsu and also Ninjago and also also fought a bunch of things but consider: he fucked just as much as he fought

• If Not More

• he didn’t like cooking so he somehow got one of the other elemental masters he brought with him to be his lifelong chef

• meaning as long as They lived, since the FSM was immortal-adjacent

• after building the foundations of government and society and culture and shit he got absolutely trashed and when he woke up he was married to the stranger in his bed. this happened multiple times over the eons.

• he did have latent dragon hoarding instincts!! most of it was expressed via, like, lovers, but he did also collect knowledge and sometimes that meant Making The Knowledge.

20230105: today’s rebuild was 6390: Main Street with 528 pieces from 1980. this seems like it should have been a very simple build but one of the issues I continue to have with older sets is matching the BrickLink inventory with the actual instructions. some of the older sets such as this one often included extra parts which would be used for some of the alternate builds located either later in the instructions or on the back of the box. this box is also very interesting, as it came with three large plastic sorting bins inside the box itself. there are stickers with this set, including a large 2x14 yellow sticker with blue “Legoland Hotel” text, a yellow steering wheel, and a white sticker with a yellow car, as well as a white flag with a yellow and blue “Legoland Hotel” sticker I could not find in my spare parts bins. Lego OSHA: poor, poor blue worker. once placed in the crane to move the construction materials including the next blue all and eventually the last wall and roof, the blue worker’s only option to exit the crane was to jump, as the crane contains zero control mechanisms and no ability to move up or down. safety experts suggest the blue worker climbed into the crane cab alone, as there are no witnesses. additionally, the other members of the main street found no methods of getting to the second floor of either building, except to have the blue worker use the crane to haul them up and down. the crane, however, has to be operated by a secondary person on the ground in order to move up and down and this caused some problems when the gold necklace person “accidentally” dropped the black cowboy hat person. the police officer was not paying attention (and didn’t really like the black cowboy hat person anyway, but internal affairs doesn’t need to know about that). the popcorn chef doesn’t care about any of the drama and just wants to sell popcorn to the other blue shirt worker and the red shirt workers. though, it’s a good thing the red shirt workers here aren’t as expendable as they might be in other fandoms ;-P

Porque Elegguá tiene 21 cowries (caracoles)

Recordemos que la mano de cowries que llevan todos los orishas consta de 18 cowries excepto Elegguá que por mandato de Olófì lleva 21 cowries su mano y esto esta fundamentado en el odun Irete Untelu.

En este pàtàkì se nos narra como fue que logro tener ese privilegio.

En la tierra Osha Ora, Agbanukue (Elegguá Agbanukue pertenece a tierra Arará, guardián de los Ilé) tenía tres hijos, la mayor era una obini (mujer), llamada Ninona, los otros dos eran okunis (hombres), el del medio se llamaba Orobi y el más pequeño Elegguá.

Los tres hermanos emprendieron su camino al reino ya que los tres se dedicaban al oficio de servicios funerarios.

Un día el Rey del reino Adyaminako (Tierra de los Cencerros) paseaba por sus tierras y de pronto murió.

Los tres hermanos fueron llamados para trasladarlo hasta su reino y hacerle los honores fúnebres.

Ellos emprendieron camino acompañados de sus cónyuges y estaban tan cansados y estaban confrontando muchos problemas que para librarse de las cargas (sus cónyuges en este caso), la mujer, Ninona, determinó matar a su esposo abriéndole el vientre y perforando sus intestinos.

El mediano Orobi, le cortó a su mujer la lerí (cabeza) y Elegguá le aplastó a la suya la lerí (cabeza) con un pedazo de bastón pesado.

Ya librados los tres hijos de Agbanukue de los impedimentos del viaje tomaron rumbo a la Tierra de los Cencerros para realizar las pompas fúnebres de su rey.

Cada uno iba cantando y tocando su respectivo tambor hasta que llegaron y realizaron los servicios, donde ganaron mucho dinero.

Sucedió que Olófì había casado a su hija mayor con el Ọba de aquellas tierras pero el Ọba era impotente y como resultado de esto no podía hacer Ofikale trupon (acto sexual) a su esposa y tanta fue la vergüenza que se otoku (mató) pero antes de hacerlo le lego a su esposa a su hijo llamado Olomu Ota para que se casara con él.

Cuando sepultaron al Ọba de aquella tierra consultaron a Ifá con el Awó Shaketa que era el Àwo (Babaláwo) de esas tierras y el ọdún que salio fue Irete Remore y dijo Ifá que se necesitaba la comparecencia de Elegguá asi que lo mandaron buscar, este recibió el mensaje y llegó acompañado de su hermana Ninona y su hermano Orobi.

Olomo Ota el hijo mayor del difunto Rey y el heredero habló con el Àwo Shaketa (Babálawo) y le comentó que deseaba ser feliz en unión con la hija de Olófì ( su ex madrastra).

Este le pidió también, que le diera un polvo para que su potencia sexual aumentara y asi borrar la vergüenza de la familia, Awó Shaketa le contestó que se lo entregaría en tres días.

Elegguá era el guardián del apo (saco) de Awó Shaketa con todos los utensilios, ya que el Awó en ese saco tenía dos clases de polvos:

uno era blanco que facilitaba una gran potencia viril

uno rojo que ponía impotente a los hombres

Entonces el Awó Shaketa le ordeno a Elegguá que le entregara los polvos blancos a Olomu Ota para que se pusiera Odasile Odara (bien) virilmente.

Elegguá entrega el polvo y recibe unos caracoles como pago, pero Elegguá en vez de entregarle los polvos blancos le entrego los rojos, por este trabajo Elegguá fue remunerado económicamente muy bien.

En esos tiempos los trabajos se pagaban con Ayé (caracoles alargados), resulta que cuando se repartieron el dinero entre los hermanos sobraron tres Ayés y el Awó Shaketa se los dejo para que se lo repartieran entre ellos y el Awó se separo del grupo.

Cada hermano tomó 18 Ayés y como sobraban tres para repartir, comenzó la discordia, ya que ninguno aceptaba un Ayé para cada uno, cada uno aspiraba a poseer los 3 Ayés porque el que tuviera los 21 caracoles sería diferente a los demás.

Ninona dijo que a ella le pertenecían los 3 Ayés por ser la mayor de los hermanos.

Orobi dijo que a él le correspondían por ser el segundo de los hermanos y mayor que Elegguá y porque era hombre.

Elegguá dijo que le pertenecían a él por ser el más pequeño y porque ellos habían trabajado mucho antes de que el naciera.

Al final los hermanos no se pusieron de acuerdo y continuaron su camino y continuó la discusión.

Se encontraron en el camino con una mujer que recogía leña en el monte para vender en la plaza y le contaron su problema y la mujer les preguntó:

¿Cuál de ustedes es el mayor?

Ninona enseguida respondió que era ella.

La mujer les comento que en su tierra lo que sobra se le da al mayor de los hermanos.

Orobi al oír esto le corta la lerí (cabeza) a la mujer y Elegguá le aplasto con su bastón la lerí (cabeza) y la enterraron en el monte pero antes de enterrarla sin que su hermano se diera cuenta, Eleggua hizo Ofikale trupon con la difunta.

Siguieron caminando y mas adelante se encontraron con otra mujer que cargaba una apotó (tinaja) de agua para casa del Ọba y también le relataron su problema.

Ella preguntó:

¿Cuál de ustedes es el segundo?

Orobi respondió enseguida que él.

Y la mujer respondió:

Por la ley de mi casa lo que sobra de una herencia o ganancia le pertenece al segundo de los hermanos.

Ninona al oír esto le abrió el vientre perforándole los intestinos y Elegguá le aplastó la lerí (cabeza) con su bastón a la segunda mujer.

Entonces mientras Ninona y Orobi buscaban un lugar para enterrar el cuerpo Elegguá se aprovechó e hizo acto sexual con la difunta.

Continuaron el camino y se encontraron con una tercera mujer, a la cual también le contaron su problema.

Y ella preguntó:

¿quién de ustedes es el menor?

Y enseguida Elegguá le contestó soy yo y se puso muy contento.

Pero antes de que ella pudiera contestar Ninona le abrió el vientre perforándole los intestinos y Orobi le corto la lerí (cabeza) a la mujer y en un descuido de sus hermanos, Elegguá se acostó con la difunta, después de esto enterraron a la mujer.

Los tres hermanos siguen su camino discutiendo pero Elegguá se aparto de sus hermanos y se interno en el monte y del Àpò (saco) del Awó Shaketa saco una figura de madera y le canto, acto seguido la figura se convirtio en un ayá (perro), sus hermanos lo encontraron junto al ayá y este les dijo lo que sobra le pertenece a los ègúns y abrieron un kutun (orificio que se hace en la tierra) y colocaron los 3 ayes y los taparon con tierra, todos quedaron conformes, pero Elegguá a espaldas de los sus hermanos fue y destapo el kutun, tomo los 3 ayes y tomando el ayá (perro) que custodiaba el lugar lo mato para que no lo delatara y le saco el okọkàn (corazón), lo enterró en el kutun y con la lerí del ayá se hizo un inshe y lo forro de elèkés (cuentas de colores) y lo guardo en el Àpò del Awó Shaketa.

Los tres hermanos regresaron al palacio, donde el Rey Olomu Ota seguía impotente ya que Eleggua le había entregado los polvos rojos en lugar de los blancos, como le había ordenado el Awó Shaketa y no podía ofikale trupon con la hija de Olófì,

entonces Olófì decide comunicar que el okuni (hombre) que pudiera ofikale trupon con su hija, obtendría la mitad de su reino.

Entonces todos los hombres comenzaron a visitar a Awó Shaketa (Babaláwo) para que les recetara los polvos para evitar la impotencia y Elegguá debiendo dar los polvos blancos les daba los polvos rojos y volvió impotentes a todos los hombres de aquel reino.

Olófì comenzó a recibir las quejas de todos los hombres por la estafa y decide castigar a Elegguá pero Elegguá se escapa y va a la tierra de Obalita Oba Kete que era la mujer secreta de Olófì.

Obalita Oba Kete tenía un aspecto de muerta envuelta en finas telas a la que solo se le veían los ojos y los dientes y Elegguá sin perder tiempo tuvo relaciones sexuales con ella.

Pero un día al fin logran atrapar a Elegguá y lo llevan delante de Olofi para que rinda cuentas.

Olófì le preguntó:

¿Elegguá qué polvo le has dado a todos los hombres para tomar?

A lo que Elegguá contestó:

Les di a todos los polvos rojos para que odasile odara (estuvieran bien).

Entonces los hombres al escucharlo lo acusan de mentiroso y también de haber matado a tres mujeres.

Elegguá se defiendio y dice que fue Orobi quien las mató porque quería los tres Ayé para él y acto seguido le cuenta a Olófì lo del perro y saca el inshe ozain del Àpò del Awó Shaketa y este se transforma en un ayá y todos vieron que Elegguá estaba hablando con la verdad, Olófì le preguntó nuevamente a Elegguá por los polvos rojos del saco del Awó Shaketa y Elegguá tomo delante de todos aquellos los polvos y les dijo:

Miren, este es el mismo polvo que yo les he dado a todos, es el mismo que yo tomo para la potencia viril, tomo los polvos y los ligo con oti y les dio a todos los hombres presentes y todos se pusieron nuevamente bien y creyeron en Elegguá.

Pero Elegguá tomo precauciones, antes de que lo apresaran había teñido los polvos blancos con un tinte rojo para así librarse de la guerra que ya tenía encima de él.

Eleguá es nombrado el guardián por mandato de Olófì.

Entonces Olófì ordenó que a partir de ese momento Elegguá era el guardián de todos los hombres, de las mujeres y de todos los Oshas y Orishas.

Eleguá a su hermana Ninona la puso vivir en casa de las Obinis y a su hermano Orobi en el ile (casa) de yawa.

Olófì manda a buscar nuevamente a Elegguá y le pregunta si había tenido que ver con Obalita Oba Kete (esposa secreta) y Elegguá le responde que sí.

Y Olófì le dice:

El puesto que tienes ya te lo he ofrecido y ahora no te lo puedo quitar pero por ser escandaloso y no respetar a nadie ni a nada no puedes vivir dentro de la casa, así que vivirás afuera de la misma.

Anteriormente, cuando Elegguá volvió a todos impotentes tuvo que ver también con la hija de Olófì, y este le cedio la mitad de su reino, entonces Elegguá le cedió a Orunmila Awó Shaketa esa mitad que le correspondía y dijo a todos los presentes:

Nunca olviden que he sido legal con todos y que el polvo rojo que les di a tomar, es el mismo que yo tomo para estar potente.

Con esas palabras de Elegguá es cuando Olófì se da cuenta de todo el engaño a aquellos hombres, pero ya no podía volver atrás, y le dijo:

Elegguá eres un Osha más, pero a partir de hoy tendrás el derecho de usar los tres diloggunes, te los has ganado por ser astuto y siempre serás el primero que habrán de recibir para consagrar a Ifá y a los demás Oshas.

Además todos los hombres, mujeres y niños tendrán un Elegguá personal como guardián y el perro siempre será recordado como el animal que salvó a Elegguá de la discordia de sus hermanos. To Iban Eshu.

I had a dream I watched Morbius.

Rather, in the dream I watched the last part of Morbius three times because my dad rented it and was playing it on repeat and the climactic scenes kept waking me up. In the dream.

Scene: snowy mountain peak. A clear sunny sky. A helecopter approaches a Top Secret™ base build into the rock. The helecopter lands and The Morbius steps out. He nods solemnly to the pilot, who gives our boi a fateful thumbs-up before the helecopter ascends into the sky.

Jared Leto in all his Morbasticness struts across the helicopter landing pad toward the yawning dark e trance of the Top Secret™ enemy base. The structure's imposing geometry is covered in disk-like bumps that one would recognize from Lego studs, each stud the size of a man's head. This castle made of giant Lego bricks is where the Morbius should fight his foe to the death.

But something is wrong. The Foe is not here, nore are there henchmen to beat up in the meantime? The place is dark and still. What is a Morb to do?

But then, echoing in the hangar bay from outside, is the distinct whine of an approaching starfighter. A TIE fighter-starship with curved wings. This is no ordinary TIE fighter, it's the prototype TIE Advanced ×1!!!

Finally, Darth Vader is here to fight Morbious.

Their fight is a glorious mess of confusing choreography, explosions, and lightsaber. There is dialog. The sound mixers did their job and cranked the explosions to 1000 and the speech to 2. Industry standard. My father does not use subtitles, but I know this is the iconic moment where The Morbius says "It's Morbin' Time!" for it is, indeed Morbin' time and he's Morbin' all over the place. Darth Vader doesn't stand a chance. But the Sith Lord doesn't have to win.

They can both lose.

Darth Vader throws his lightsaber against some barrels and tanks with OSHA-standard clearly defined hazard labels that all mean "this shit is going to explode." And by golly it does! Morbius races to the helipad as the Top Secret™ base explodes in a shower of fire and dislodged lego bricks.

Darth Vader retreats to his starship to lick his wounds in the upper atmosphere and live to fight another day. He has learned an invaluable lesson: you can't force-choke a vampire, but you absolutely can blow one up. He thinks he has won and is a convenient threat to use in the sequel the studio clearly wants to make.

But our Morbful hero but lives! He clings to the side of the mountain, his wounds dying the snow around him crimson. He crawls to the burning helecopter pad. To rest and drift in and out of consciousness. Then, like Gandelf and the Eagles of Manwë scooping Frodo and Samwise from the burning slopes of Amon Amarth, the helecopter reappears. The pilot landsand sprints to our fallen Morb. The pilot kneels over morbious and removes their helmet. It's Lead Actress and she's crying tears of joy and worry. "You did it, Jared Leto! You won!"

"No," our somber Morbious replies. "He got away." Lead actress doesn't care. It is clear to the audience that Morbious still around to Morb again is a win in her eyes. She leans in and kisses him. We zoom out slowly from the scene and start to pan over the mountain ridges the title card Morbius is shown, then credits start to roll.

There are a couple epiloge scenes as the director, producer, and main actor's names get extra love. The Main Theme plays as we see our Morbin boy on the mend, wearing a doctor's coat. He's back helping patients at the emergency room doing doctor things. But at night, he be Morbin. He do be Morbin. Stopping crimes by doing different crimes, living not by the Laws of Man, but by the Code of Morbius.

This site is about cranes, in particular Coles Cranes and the history of Coles. To see why this site came about see the 'About Site' section. This site will discribe somthing about mobile cranes, the history of Coles Cranes and contain a database with pictuers of most of the cranes made by Coles along with some intresting little technical details. Coles stopped trading in 1984 and and the last working factory closed down in 1998. Coles is now only a part of crane history. This site is dedicated to remembering what was once one of the largest crane manufacturing companies in the world and to those people who worked there.

Military Cranes Coles first involvement with the military came when they won a tender to make cranes for the Ministry Defence in 1937 the order was for a general purpose self propelled light crane for use with the RAF. This order was for 82 units, a large order at that time. From that time on Coles were almost entirely given over to making the same crane throughout the whole of the second world war. From that time Coles had supplied many types of crane for the army, navy and airforce. Not only to the UK but all round the world. All these crane have been based on their civilian range but built to the much higher military specification required by the services and generally heavier and more reliable systems. This of course made them far more expensive so these cranes often have a very good second had value after the military had finished with them. Model - EMA Mk1First made in 1937 the continued to be made right up until 1946 when it was updated to become first the Aries then the Argus Mobiles.Developed for the air ministry the EMA (Electro Mobile Aerodrome) is a self propelled, twin axled , four tyred, electrically driven mobile crane with 360 slewing and 3 ton 2.4m jib. One major development of this machine was the non-rigid jib made of welded sections.This machine developed from the 2 ton Mk1 through Mk II, III, V, VI, and VII versions increasing capacities up to the 6 ton Mk VII. Model - EMA Utility Mk1Notes - Lattice Jib 2.4 to 3m Long.The EMA slewing unit was also made as a Utility version for use on suitable lorry chassis. This unit was a stripped down version with the minimal parts necessary to make it work. It was intended for the electrical power to be taken from the truck it was mounted on. This was fed by a cable so the crane had to have a limiter on the degrees of rotation. Where the truck could not provide the electrical power a separate small engine and generator were fitted either on the truck chassis, as in the Matador or bolted onto the slewing unit. During the war this slewing unit was fitted to almost any suitable lorry chassis. Two of the most widely used were the 6 ton 6x4 Thorneycroft Amazon and the 6x6 AEC Matador. Also fitted to the Austin K6 and Layland. Note- there is a photograph in the 100 years book showing eleven Thorneycroft Amazon trucks on a row saying they are fitted with the EMA slewing rig, this is incorrect these are a much later units from 1948 fitted with the Ulysses 6T self contained slewing unit. Model - Slewing Recovery CraneNotes - Coles only made the crane unit for the AEC Militant Mark 3 truck. The crane unit took its power from the truck including hydraulic. It could slew 90 degrees each way rase hydraulically under fill load and extend hydraulicly to about 10 feet. Also fitted with powerful cable hook winch. The crane unit weighs 5 to 5.5T. Model - Hydra AT 18TNotes - Developed for the military, 4 wheel drive. Both Crane and Truck can be driven from either truck cab or slewing cab position. Not armoured but military specification fittings. This was available from the 1970 but was later updated in 78 and called the Coles/Grove 315M MK2. 4 wheel drive 360 Degree Fully slewing with rear cab, joystick controls, 19m reach, 4 x outriggers, axle locks, PAT 150 DS safe load indicator, ZF 6 speed transmission.
