A thing that I did today

It was probably their final year in highschool and both Edd and Matt were now nervously sitting across from each other on Edd’s bed. The whole green themed bedroom was silent, its walls decorated with posters of Edd’s interests. Something Matt had first wished he had when he walked into it. It was probably Matt’s 5th time visiting but he never kept count, he didn’t want the realisation to hit him so quickly that his guess may be wrong. But now wasn’t what the two were focused on. Edd was in stunned silence upon Matt’s answer to his own question and the ginger across from him was...well, concerned. He began to wonder whether or not he had something wrong in response to Edd, despite his reply being correct in his own eyes. Edd slowly began to speak, breaking their nervous silence.

“So..what you’re telling me is…true?” His voice was just above a whisper at this point, Matt frowned a little more without realising it at all. However, this frown was noticed by Edd himself, who furrowed his eyebrows. Though the brunet continued, cocking his head to the side with a gentle movement. “Would you..like me to teach you how..?” He asked slowly again. There was hesitation on Matt’s end as the ginger played with the corner of the pillow from the once neat bed. Upon the question being answered, he could feel how his own face heated up. He frowned softly and looked down at the sheets, considering how to answer the question this time. Matt didn’t want to upset Edd, but he was letting his own nerves get the best of him. He let out a quiet huff before looking back up to the brunet’s brown eyes with his own odd coloured ones. He gave Edd a small nod of conformation. There was a few seconds of silence as the two shuffled closer together on the mattress. And once Edd knew Matt was close enough he carefully reached his hands to the ginger’s freckled face, making the other’s cheeks flush at the contact. Matt could feel his heart almost pound out of his chest. He had no idea that what he was feeling entirely was the beginning of a crush, and the potential for a blossoming relationship. Edd could hear his own heart begin to pound in his ears as he started to lean closer to Matt’s soft lips.And once their lips touched a sense of relief appeared to wash over them both, their shoulders began to relax as the kiss was held longer. Edd closed his eyes slowly as Matt was left with his eyes wide open, and his face completely a flustered mess. It wasn’t until Edd had carefully moved away from Matt’s lips that he had noticed how much he had flustered the ginger sat before him. Matt appeared to be staring at Edd in shock, his cheeks a budding red and his ears only just lightly decorated with the colour. Edd may have feared he broke his friend. However, when Matt appeared to try to shake what he was feeling away, Edd sensed a wave of relief wash over him once again.

“Sorry, that one was probably a little long…” Edd spoke, nervously looking away from the other. He didn’t think that he would leave Matt to be a completely flustered mess over such a simple kiss. Though it should’ve been expected, these two were both teenagers after all. And kisses with each other was probably the only thing they weren’t considering would even happen within their friendship. He thought it over before finally suggesting an idea that came to mind. “Would you like to know a few more kisses out there? I-I could teach you!” Now Edd didn’t know many kisses, though at this age, after watching a lot of movies that involved kisses. He had a feeling he had seen many different ones. He glanced back at Matt, he had looked at him when he had started to speak again. The ginger male then nodded in response, giving Edd a small smile. And then Edd began to show Matt a few kisses that he had seen. These were only instigated by the brunet himself and featured a simple peck on the cheek and forehead as well as the lips. It wasn’t long before Matt had begun to feel more comfortable with the topic.

A few hours later, there was still an area of nervousness around the two but both had moved on from the kissing topic. Or so they thought, as though it still lingered at the back of both of their minds that they had kissed. However, they were both playing video games with each other now. Matt’s stay was just about reaching 3 hours. And he thought the conversation over once a level had been passed by the two. He glanced at Edd only slightly, curious as to whether the other was looking, then decided to speak.

“So you know that conversation we had about…learning how to kiss?” He began, making Edd pause and glance over at him. He could see that the ginger was staring straight at the screen of the tv and not paying much attention to him. He could feel the act of furrowing one of his eyebrows down in confusion, though he didn’t say anything. He thought that because of the way that Matt had acted earlier, all flustered and silent, that it wasn’t a good idea to bring the topic back up. However, Matt had done that himself, which could only surprise yet confuse the male in green. Matt began to speak again. “Is it…”He made slow movements to turn and face Edd, gently grabbing his face to make the other face him too. He leaned in close towards the other, making their lips only inches apart. And eventually, after looking into the brunet’s eyes, he closed the distance. He let his own eyes close as Edd’s only widened. However he let his face slowly relax as he closed his own eyelids and let the other hold the kiss. After the heavenly kiss was broken, Matt stared at Edd with a soft smile. Leaving Edd’s cheeks a flushed bright red.“Like that?”
