Per Aspera Ad Astra
I finished Elden Ring, with the Age of Stars ending of course, thanks in no small part to a final bit of help from some friends. The final story bosses are a substantial step up in difficulty from the previous bosses, although the Elden Beast would probably be more reasonable if you didn't have to pay the Radagon tax every time you challenged it. For the final encounters alone I went through at least 15 Rune Arcs, and was using Starlight Shards for FP restoration just so I could have 14 healing flasks to use. Before that, most other required or significant bosses were taking at most 3 attempts (excluding the Dragonic Tree Sentinel). A big final struggle to finish the main playthrough before the upcoming DLC.
Overall, my opinion on the game is mostly positive. It took me a while to get into the swing of the game, which is pretty normal for a soulsbourne game, but I eventually found a general strategy and play style that worked for me. Spirit Ashes were a great inclusion in the game, but those, alongside NPC summons when available, can trivialize the difficulty of some later encounters if you have done enough exploration and leveling. This is part of why the final bosses were such a spike in difficulty, while also being a big reason that some side bosses can actually be far tougher than the main bosses depending on when you fight them. The open world design of the game makes difficulty very odd compared to the more linear structure of the other soulsbourne games, where there was a more obvious intended sequence and breaking it was therefore a bit simpler to plan around. A lot of what I enjoy about the game lines up with what I prefer about Dark Souls 2 out of the Souls games I've played before.
I do, however, struggle with the sheer size of the game. I have missed SO MUCH STUFF and that is even when using a guide to make sure I could follow the side quests I wanted to follow. Near the end I took a detour to go grab some talismans I'd missed that were a huge help when dealing with Radagon and the very pretty Elden Beast. I recently learned of some spells and incantations I missed that would have been super fun to get on my way through the game. It's quite an ordeal to find everything and do everything, and to be fair, you're really not supposed to find and do everything. Part of the journey for each player is to find their own way and potentially intersect with other players by way of the summoning mechanics. Unfortunately, I kind of try to do nearly everything when I play a game, maybe because I grew up poor enough to need to get my money's worth, or my parents' money's worth, out of any game I owned. Or maybe it's an undiagnosed ADHD/Autism thing, I don't know for sure. I've been trying to embrace a more accepting mentality about not experiencing or doing everything but it's rough, especially when something is so enticing to experience.
To sum up the experience, I had fun, I'm looking forward to the DLC, and I still have a few bosses left I can challenge (Malenia, Placidusax, and Alecto mainly). I'm also looking forward to playing something else for a little while.

I ventured into Latin as a shallow attempt to emulate the greats, but it gave me beyond what I expected. It helped me understand that language is much like philosophy, where it is not about linear communication, but about perception and retrospection. It is a gift of words, but also that of thoughts.
‘Per aspera ad astra,’ has long since become my anxiety chant, not just because it’s literal meaning, but the soul splintering beauty and depth it carries. It taught me that when we are reaching for, not just dreaming of the stars, striving to be one of the greats, it is definite that we go through a heart-quenching, searing amounts of pain, as we literally and figuratively ‘go through the thorns’.
As I am ‘per aspera’, I will be actively posting to you about my thoughts, opinions, philosophies and just how it is to walk through the thorns. I hope this journal-like honesty and perspective lessens your strifes as you cross your own garden of thorns everyday.
Even if this never reached you, I hope you venture your way ‘ad astra.’
…Ad Astra (to the stars),

25, 37, 50 for the ask game please~
Thank you for the ask, Plu and of course!
25. Linear or non-Linear, and why?
I loathe linear I don't know why it just happened.
37. Most inspirational quote you've ever read or heard that's still important to you?
Oof, I've many.
One is "Veni, vidi, vici" by Gaius Julius Caesar, meaning "I came, I saw, I won" and "per aspera ad astra" by Seneca meaning "through hardships to the stars".
Another quote is "A pen is to me as a beak is to a hen." by J. R. R. Tolkien.
50. Weirdest story idea you ever had?
A crossover/ what if where all my characters meet.

okay then guess i’m doing this for you mom:
right people, perfection is a myth and the pursuit of it will only lead to frustration and self doubt, productivity should not be linear, never forget to actually truly live every once in a while
do not expect the same of yourself day in day out because guess what? life isn’t the exact same every single day (you ever seen a footballer give the exact same performance, no?, yeah i thought so) ups, downs and ‘failures’ are what make you you and not a soulless robot
feel all your feels, cry all your cries and know that everything that does or doesn’t happen is bound to make you better one way or another, even if you yourself don’t notice it
love your imperfect moments for it is from these that your unique mosaic of life is born, you’ve absolutely got this and fuck anyone that says otherwise, never let anyone dim your light
as they say in the medical world do no harm and take no shit
prosperitas processus per aspera

Mikey, DCAU!Flash, Supergirl, and Dr. Watson
Yay :D Thanks!
Mikey (is the 2012 version
their blog url: he changes URLs every week. Drives his brothers mad because he also tends to change his avatar.
the kind of posts they reblog: he goes through phases but food (generally really weird food) and martial arts feature prominently. He pointedly refuses to like or reblog anything concerning Chris Bradford now.
the first person they followed: Chris Bradford. Then Raph.
what kind of theme they’d have: something flashy, with bright colours.
what kind of text posts they make at 2am: whatever goes through his brain at the time, which can be shitposting, memories, how his dad is awesome... or startingly insightful musings.
DCAU!Flash
their blog url: he has two blogs: one as the Flash (ScarletSpeedsterOfficial) and one as Wally West (hotgingernerd).
the kind of posts they reblog: on the Flash blog, he starts with pin-ups and photos of fast cars, and little by little he becomes the cool big bro blog. Unofficially adopts everyone who feels lonely and sad. Replies to all his asks (except the really weird ones). Can always be counted on for weird/funny anecdotes about the JL. As Wally West, it’s mostly random and SCIENCE IS AWESOME. Sometimes he reblogs JL crack fics when they make him laugh.
the first person they followed: The official NASA account.
what kind of theme they’d have: As Flash, something mostly red and kind of flashy. As Wally, something super simple and linear.
what kind of text posts they make at 2am: text posts memes about the JL. It’s not easy to find photos of Batman, so he finds fanart (and credits the artists).
Supergirl
their blog url: as Supergirl, supergirl-nc. As Kara, ad-astra-per-aspera.
the kind of posts they reblog: Kara uses both accounts for social justice, anti-facism, support for refugees, and heartwarming stories. Kara’s blog just has a few more kitten and puppies videos.
the first person they followed: Win for Kara, then Clark (Win gave her a hand for her first Tumblr steps). Cat Grant for Supergirl.
what kind of theme they’d have: Something cosy, simple, white and pale yellow with flowers, with a font that’s easy to read for everyone.
what kind of text posts they make at 2am: Kara rarely posts at all at 2AM. She’s a little puzzle by what comes up on her dash when she catches up with the nightblogging.
Dr Watson (the ACD canon version who somehow got hold of the internet)
their blog url: detectivemd52
the kind of posts they reblog: medicine, health issues (he’s furious about the anti-vax “movement”), forensics, support of war veterans - plus literature and, sometimes, sneak peeks on whatever story he’s writing.
the first person they followed: Stamford. Then Scotland Yard.
what kind of theme they’d have: something simple, in blues, whites, and dark browns. He tweaked it to add a list of important links like free clinics addresses, suicide hotlines, and emergency services numbers.
what kind of text posts they make at 2am: he doesn’t post much, but he replies to asks. He gets a lot of anonymous asks by people who have problems they don’t feel important enough to bother the great Sherlock Holmes with (whether or not he would agree is moot since he’s not aware of them - but he probably wouldn’t), budding writers, etc. He takes time to write long, encouraging replies.
