controversial or unpopular opinions: a lot of characters are not going 'dark' they are just doing something that goes against what a fave character wants. and therefore dont need a redemption arc (especially female characters)

Agreed. I remember those days after Wynonna Earp's second season where Rosita's tag was filled with people clamouring for a redemption ARC!! and I was like. huh?? There was all that #KillAllison ThingTM with Teen Wolf, people calling Cordelia's arc in ATS a redemption arc... I haven't seen that specific word used with Lizzie but certain attitudes after the second to last episode reflected this mentality.

First of all, things just aren't that clear cut when it comes to stories that work within a greyer morality. Second, sometimes fandom demands WAY too much of female characters, claiming that they need to go through a redemption arc for them (the audience) to forgive them* for things like being a bit of a mean girl or dating a friend's ex (see the anti-Maria Deluca fandom smh). And then goes around and claims characters that aren't necessarily worse than some of their male counterparts who do get these stories -in canon or fanon- are just ~inherently irredeemable, as if that's their decision (see Bela Talbot or Azula).

(*the focus on forgiveness, especially on audience forgiveness, when it comes to a character's morality has already been discussed and I won't get into it... but lol. Are they serious)

Again: at the end of the day, this attitude when it comes to stories where the writers' objective is obviously not to make "dark" versions of their characters but to show their complexities, to add new dimensions to them, etc... it just doesn't fit with what they're trying to give us, and they'll always fail as complete analysis of the text IMO.

I had this scene in my head after you made this post of like, Ray when he Hasn't Figured It Out yet, so he's throwing one of his mantrums in Junk n' Stuff and the HD trio plus Zack (idk Zack’s role in this scenario, like idk if he's in on the secret and that's why he's there or if he just picked the absolute worst time to walk into Junk n' Stuff but anyway) they’re all halfway listening and Zack and Char are both thinking "hang on, Ray seems a little too upset about this" and so they both end up figuring it out at the same time and they share a look of like 😳👀

It’s up to you whether they let Jasper in on it as well but I don’t think they should tell Henry solely because I love bullying him and I enjoy the thought of him also being annoyed/jealous because his bestie(s) and…..whatever Zack is to him are all sharing a secret he’s too clueless to figure out himself. (Zack has to be eventually be like “chill, Swellview, I’ll explain later” except he doesn’t)

ALSO ALSO, in a situation where Schwoz and Arwin are besties, please picture them dumpster diving together. Because they would.

And completely unrelated to any of this but Arwin occasionally shows up with a haul of stuff and is like "I have more Junk!.......and stuff!" (idk if Junk n' Stuff works like a thrift store but it does for the purposes of this scenario)

11. What work took you the longest to write?

literally all of them, my illness is making me so damn slow 😔✊🏻 if we're talking in general, there's the usual suspects, i.e. Be My Valentine? and Danger on Deck but there's also Partners in Crime (fighting). I've had the concept since 2021, and I even had a lot of the first chapter done, but then I thought of a much cooler concept, so I had to scrap it and start over. Since these are wrapped questions, and we're talking just this year, I'd say my fake dating au. I also wrote four different first chapters for it, but none of them work rip I could’ve had so much of it posted now, if I could just,,,figure out where/how to start 🙃

19. What’s one pairing you want to explore next year?

Max and Charlotte! But, i don't mean Max Thunderman, I mean Max Suite Life.

20. Which work of yours have you reread the most?

from the works on ao3,,, I don't usually reread stuff I've posted to ao3 unless I have to alsdkfj the perfectionist in me makes me edit my work very literally hundreds of times, so by the time I post it, I'm absolutely sick of it, and I just want to put it out there and be done with it forever.

I'm currently in the process of rewriting Be My Valentine? (I'm not making any major changes, my writing is just leaps and bounds better than it was) so i've reread it dozens of times in the last few months alone for editing purposes lmao so it’s probably that
