Chapter 87 - I'm convinced that Yor would have had a much easier time fighting Wheeler for Twilight than cooking that breakfast for Loid and Anya. Cooking is clearly very difficult for her and I think it's sweet that she puts so much effort into taking care of her family like this. She could have just picked up take out or served them something easy like cereal, but she decided to do her best to cook for them instead.

Fic request... Twiyor bathing suit shopping 👀 do you publish them for people to read??
Hi anon! I wasn’t 100% which way to take this, so I went T-rated. I hope you like it! You can also read it on Ao3.
It was a typical day in the Forger household. Loid Forger, master spy, was watching tv with his daughter, Anya Forger, when a commercial suddenly caught her fancy.
“Beach! I want to go to the beach!” his daughter exclaimed, jumping up and down in her enthusiasm.
“Oh, yes, Loid-san!” Yor added from the hallway. “A trip to the beach sounds lovely!”
Her dark hair swished as she nearly danced over to the easy chair.
Loid’s blue eyes flashed cold for a brief moment and then his whole demeanor lightened up. “I don’t think I can get to the beach, but I can take you to the pool.” He smiled softly and Anya jumped up and down again, her glee making both Forgers smile.
A sudden cloud spread across her petite features. “But, papa. I don’t have a bathing suit!”
Loid smiled but groaned inwardly. Fortunately, his cover provided him with enough money. He just hoped that he wouldn’t have to buy one for himself.
A small ‘eep!’ came from the easy chair. “Oh! I need a new bathing suit, too,” Yor said, her face a bit concerned.
“Oh! We could match!” Anya said, then turned to stare, wide-eyed at her ‘dad.’ He was blushing and images of mama in various bathing suits flashed through his mind. He blushed again and Anya grinned. She definitely needed her mama and papa to be together. This might help!
The next day, the Forger family set off for a bathing suit shopping trip. The first store only had children’s clothes, but Anya and Yor browsed the selections just in case. At the second store, however, there were several ‘family’ designs with matching suits for everyone in the family.
Anya moved quickly around the store, looking for something cute that reminded her of her precious, but stitched, Pengy. She was surprised when her papa picked out one or two for her to try on. She stared at them, then, stared at her papa, gave him a quick salute and ran to Yor.
Why on earth did she salute me? Loid wondered, trying to control his racing thoughts. He was a spy! Did she suspect?
“Mama!” Anya said, “Operation Bathing Suit is a go!”
Loid chuckled as Yor and Anya looked over the suits, trying to find a match. Nothing to worry about, he thought and gave a small sigh.
As much as he tried to be unobtrusive, the master spy kept glancing at a particular rack and Anya, hearing his thoughts, jumped over to show Yor those possibilities. Even though it wasn’t a perfect match, there was a very adult bathing suit in complimentary colors to Anya’s navy frilled suit.
Anya turned and looked at her papa very carefully, while he blushed and turned away.
Yor took out the bathing suit and blushed. It was very nice but maybe a little too revealing? A good color and it did look , but…she looked up at Loid who was staring at something outside. She leaned down and whispered to Anya, “I think this isn’t as cute as this other one.” She pulled a more modest navy suit off an adjacent rack and added it to the other 2 that she had.
Loid nodded at the two of them as Anya joyfully dragged Yor to the changing rooms.  Remembering her fashion show with Becky Blackbell, Anya decided she and Yor needed to model their choices. They came out in their first versions and Anya promptly grabbed Loid to ‘help’ them decide which suits to purchase.
Step two, she thought, cackling inwardly.
“Want do you think, Papa?” she asked, twirling like Becky. But then, with a little ‘hee, hee,’ she turned and looked at Yor, wrapped in a sexy off-the shoulder, green one piece. His eyes roved the suit, admiring her svelte body.
Such strength and beauty, he thought and Anya grinned. This was going to be easier than she thought!
“Next!” Anya cried excitedly, but turned to Loid. “Papa, could you get that other pink bathing suit and a matching one for Mama?”
Loid nodded, his mind whirling with possibilities, and he grabbed a cute bathing suit with strawberries for his daughter and a lovely pink and strawberry bathing suit for Yor, with strings in all the right places.
He returned, bathing suits held casually as he offered them to the women in his life.
Yor smiled brightly as Anya smirked again and leaped back into the dressing room, ready to try on her newest suit so she could see why her papa was blushing so much!
Surveying herself in the dressing room mirror, Yor blushed and grabbed a coverup. She couldn’t show this to Loid! Or anyone else for that matter!
The material felt nice and the suit fit her, perhaps a little too well! The color made her look, well, the strings! Oh my!
Anya knocked on the wooden door and Yor, carefully opened it, peering around the door, hiding her body from any prying, handsome eyes.
“Oh, mama!” Anya cheered, sneaking into the room and looking her mama’s latest suit over. “Two thumbs up!” she added and winked. She stood in front of the mirror, posing with her hands on her waist. Yor posed behind her, smiling at how their suits matched.
“Oh, mama! These are the suits for us!” Anya declared confidently. She deflated a little as Yor shook her head ‘no’ and grabbed the first suit she tried on.
“Oh! I think this one is more  appropriate, Anya-chan,” Yor replied and Anya sighed.
“Ok, mama,” Anya replied as she opened the door. She only caught a glimpse of her papa before she could hear his racing thoughts.
With an evil grin, she began planning Step Three: Snatch the Suit to help her papa. Quickly, she changed her clothes and handed her papa the two navy suits. Then, she returned to Yor’s dressing room.
Loid moved to the cashier, ready to purchase the suits after determining that the 2 men across the street were waiting for someone else and not tracking Twilight. It was only a few moments later that Anya stood on her tip-toes and slid the strawberry suits towards her papa.
Loid looked at her, then slid the two suits towards the cashier. Even if she wouldn’t wear it at the pool, he was now determined to execute his own Operation: Bathing Suit! Plans raced through his mind, and he pulled a small bag of peanuts from his pocket and handed them to Anya. A good spy sometimes needed a reward.
With a brief sigh, he mumbled, “Thank you, Anya-chan,” as his daughter rejoiced in her treat.
He was such a good papa.

whats spy x family about? and is it like- gruesome or horror or etc-
HI YES HELLO OMG OKAY LET'S GET INTO IT BECAUSE I LOVE SXF SO MUCH LIKE IT IS ONE OF MY FAVORITE SHOWS / THINGS TO READ NOW NOT EVEN KIDDING
it's actually a comedy! there is some violence and some underlying darker themes because. they are quite literally on the brink of war. but in the end, the most important aspect of the story is found family.
imma just briefly describe the plot because. i want to talk about it lol
loid forger is a spy trying to prevent the war (and he is the most infamous spy) (codename: twilight). he gets assigned a mission to get close to this dude to help prevent war stuff. only issue is, this dude is super reclusive and quite literally like only ever leaves his house to attend very specific events for the school his two sons go to. so, the mission loid gets assigned is to get a child and a wife, get the child accepted into this super prestigious school, and get close to desmond (the guy).
he adopts a kid named anya, and unbeknownst to him, she is a telepath and can read thoughts. therefore, she knows that he's a spy. therefore, shenanigans ensue. she likes causing mischief and her favorite show from at the orphanage was this spy show so she's like super into spy stuff.
then comes yor briar. yor works for city hall and is an awkward but kind young lady but also, during the night, she's an assassin (codename: thorn princess). the secret police are these crappy dudes who idk they're just against the spy agency and hate twilight but anyways, they take suspicious people into questioning and that doesn't bode well for you. and being a single female close to your thirties is suspicious and some of yor's coworkers don't like her and were like "lol you're single you could get reported to the secret police" so she panics and is like "well actually i have a boyfriend so like y eah" and they're like "okay bring him to a party at my place this weekend then lol" and she goes to get her assassin dress fixed where she runs into loid and anya (loid is getting clothes for anya) and loid is like "oooh she's pretty, maybe she could work" and anya reads her thoughts, figures out she's an assassin and is like this woman needs to be my mom the drama would be so good and essentially gets it set up.
loid is pretending that his wife died awhile back and he needs a wife for their child (anya) to get into the school his deceased wife always wished she would get in, and asked if yor could be his fake wife. she agreed if loid would be her fake boyfriend for the party so she wouldn't get reported. loid accidentally messes up because of a mission thing he had to do right before the party and tells everyone that he's yor's husband, and then yor is like "lol what if we got married and had like a fake family so you can get your kid into the school and i can still kill people - i mean not get arrested" and loid is like "well this works even better for me"
so in conclusion: loid is a spy named twilight, yor is an assassin named thorn princess, anya is a telepath.
anya knows about loid and yor
neither loid nor yor know about each other or anya
and it's fantastic
#jingyi tag#and that's basically the first two episodes but simplified#it's such a good show i read like the entire manga that's out thus far in like two days i couldn't stop#also the eng dub is kind of bad tbh so if you watch it i suggest the sub - it's a lot better#but yeah at its core this is a show about three lonely people finding solace and happiness together and trying to convince themselves this#family isn't real as they slowly become a close-knit family who care about each other so much#and it's just. f rick. it is so good.#i love loid so much - he's just this tired overworked dude who just needs a nap and i love him#i mean i love all of them like there are only a couple characters that i hate and those are the characters you're Supposed to hate#i cannot suggest this enough#i also bawled when i read loid's backstory in the manga btw like. y eah. i bawled. it got to me.#it's just. they're all so lonely because anya is a telepath due to being experimented on and she was adopted but returned like four times#and kicked out of two orphanages and would do anything to keep loid and yor as her parents and everything loid cared about as a child was#destroyed and he feels like he has no one and doesn't know who he is and he's so scared to be close with people again#and yor is a lonely girl who doesn't read social cues v well and gets ostracized because she isn't 'girl' enough and both her parents died#when she was super young so she had to start working and sacrificed everything so her younger brother could eat and go to school#and they all happen to find each other and#AHHHHHHHHHHHHH#anyways i have. feelings.#hOPE THIS HELPS#corey rambles:)

i feel like spy x family is growing into a "it takes a village to raise a kid" kind of story, and i think that's beautiful.
both loid and anya started out alone, but especially loid, was accustomed to having to do everything himself. only being able to rely on himself. both from the agency being understaffed, so he has to take on disproportionate responsibility.
and then he meets yor who reminds him that anya is a child and she should be allowed to play and have fun as well as work hard. and then yuri's help with trying to teach anya, franky's with being a playmate for anya. and more importantly, the austens being added and sigmund being an actually helpful teacher for anya.
it highlights how loid does struggle and he isn't good at everything, especially when it comes to his daughter, and for the first time that's okay. like yor said, loid doesn't need to be perfect all the time.
he's trying to work towards world peace, but really, that's happening already with anya as the centre. loid isn't alone in operation strix anymore, people are helping anya to achieve academically, helping her to becoming an imperial scholar. operation strix is no longer only on loid's shoulders, and i think he's slowly going to start realising that.

So much happened in today's new chapter! Anya got both a stella AND a tonitrus, we find out just how exceptional she is at classical language to the point of ranking second and Twilight actually questions her about it, more Desmond backstory along with...
Tumblr media
...his first apperanace!
After being shrouded in mystery all this time, we finally get to see Demetrius. Of course, like the other Desmonds, he brings up more questions than answers. What exactly is his relationship with his dad, if it's not how Damian imagined it was? And why were his thoughts so...odd? I was especially weirded out when Anya couldn't read his mind at first.
Tumblr media
It could have been that she was too far away, but I feel it has something to do with the way he thinks...like, maybe he trained his mind to the point where he's not continuously thinking things like most people and his thoughts come in quick spurts only. Could it be something that Donovan instilled in him from a young age?
I loved how Anya's reaction to getting a stella and getting a tonitrus were only slightly different 😅 More darker lines and sweat for the tonitrus.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Anya had some great faces in this chapter, (as did Twilight), but I think my favorite was this one!
Tumblr media
I was also happy to see some soft Twilight moments. Not only did he congratulate Anya on her stella while not harping on her tonitrus, he even gave her a head pat, something we haven't seen in a long time.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Something else we haven't seen in a long time: drunk Yor! (at least at home). Did she spend all night on the couch or did she eventually make it back to her room with Loid's help?
Tumblr media
When Twilight questions Anya about why she might be so good at classical languages, she says she doesn't know, which makes sense. Most kids don't remember much before Anya's age. So even after all this, and even though it's clear just how good Anya is at classical languages, we're still not closer to knowing why!
Meanwhile, still nothing suspicious about the Authens.
Tumblr media
But now that Demetrius is officially in the mix too, they're not the only new and mysterious characters we have to keep tabs on now!
Also Anya trying to channel Desmond energy at the end, lol. Trust me girl, you don't want to have minds like theirs!
Tumblr media
It seems like this mini arc is over, at least the part about the exam results. I wonder if we'll keep learning more about Demetrius and the classical language thing, or if that's all we're getting for a while. Either way, I'm excited!

Yor's Hometown and Westalis
Yor mentioned that she's from a place in Ostania called Eastern Nielsberg.
Obviously, I thought it was on the Eastern part of Ostania as well. But then we get this statement from her from the recent update, Chapter 92.
Tumblr media
She's from the South part of Ostania-A Southern folk.
Tumblr media
And how did I dare forgot, the dish that she can make without messing up was even named Southern Stew.
Why is this important? Because Mr. Green said this specific information on Chapter 39 about Southern Folks from Ostania.
Tumblr media
Southern Folks have a code for defecting to the West which might indicate that they're the ones who usually do this.
Then I remembered this Twiyor moment from Chapter 35
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Yor knows a lullaby from Loid's childhood that was always sung to him by his mother. How could Yor know that same exact lullaby?
I don't think I remember Yor mentioning Westalis neither in speech or thought (correct me if I'm wrong pls). Though that doesn't mean that she wasn't aware of the existence of it. But I don't think she, herself, would try or have tried defecting to Westalis. And she's too young and too focused on taking care of her brother to even consider this.
But how about her family? Her parents? Their relatives? Why did Yuri and her are left alone when their parents died? What happened to their grandparents, cousins, aunts and uncles? Where were they and why didn't they took them in? Did they perhaps defect to the West and Yor's family remained on Ostania? We can't be sure since we only know a little about Yor's backstory and her entire family background.
Tumblr media
But even in Loid's backstory, when he was talking to the croquette lady, she mentioned that she was part Ostanian herself and she has a family in the East even though she's residing in West. Meaning, there could also be people from Ostania that has Westalian relatives. Yor's family could have Westalian background or someone in their family tree is and who knows, her family may have actually some sort of connection with Loid's family in Luwen.
I actually don't know where I was going with this or if this even make sense or plot relevant but I can't help but be intrigued by this.

Retreating to the bedroom: Loid in Ch.87
We've seen Anya and Yor going back to their bedrooms and slamming their doors when they were overwhelmed by their emotions and/or heavily wounded.
Anya hiding in her bedroom in Ch.10:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Yor locking herself in her bedroom after getting shot in her butt in Extra Mission 2:
Tumblr media
And in Ch.24 when she tried to learn to cook:
Tumblr media
We haven't really seen Loid entering or getting out of his bedroom. The one time we see him in his bedroom is in Ch. 13:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
He was shown to be alone with his own thoughts unrelated to work.
[Manga spoiler alert]
In Ch.87, it's the first time we see Loid retreating to his room, trying to be all smiley face:
Tumblr media
If we look back at Extra Mission 2 and Ch. 24, Yor tried to put on a smiley face as well when she went back to her room:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
But we know she's unhappy and/or in pain.
Tumblr media
In Ch.87, except for the last panel, we don't really see Loid showing his unhappiness and tiredness in front of his family. However, we've already seen him being overwhelmed by his own thoughts in Ch.86, again, in another intimate space:
Tumblr media
So he chooses to hide in his room with his work:
Tumblr media
In Ch.87. the Forger residence is filled with the people he trusts and loves. His family and his only friend. He hears them from his bedroom and he can't help to come out and check what's going on.
Tumblr media
But he's too tired - wounded and emotional, he chooses to slam the door. He needs time to heal. And it's okay. His support system is right outside his bedroom door and he can join in anytime.
It's his journey. He has to fight his own battles, just like Anya in Ch.10 and Yor in Ch.24. At last, Anya would once again try to do her homework, and Yor would cook something delicious.
At least he's finally home:
Ch.34
Tumblr media
Ch.56
Tumblr media
And as always, his family will be waiting for him:

Your first instinct was, unimpressively, to assume that she’d followed you here.
It wasn’t the most brilliant idea that’d ever flashed across your mind, but honestly, what else were you supposed to think? You could count the number of days in the past three months you hadn’t ‘coincidentally’ run into the Forgers on a single hand, and you had to hold the precious few nights you didn’t spend helping Loid cook for his busy family or attempting to tutor Anya or trying to talk your way out of whatever family outing they’d invited you on close – if you could really call Yor showing up on your doorstep with a spare dress and a beaming smile an invitation. You couldn’t seem to get rid of them, so it wasn’t out of the question that you wouldn’t be as safe as you’d hoped in the sanctuary of an opera house two trains and three taxis away from the little apartment complex that’d become your waking nightmare. Even if it was only Yor, rather than all three. Even if she clearly wasn’t paying attention to you, her concentration solely on the man she had pinned to wall, one hand wrapped around his throat and a long, needle-like blade clasped in the other. Even if she couldn’t have known you would’ve gotten lost on your way to your seat, couldn’t have snuck into a place like this in a dress sporting so many strange, crimson stains. Even if nothing you were looking at made any sense, you couldn’t help it.
Your second instinct – when you realized that the man she had pinned to the wall wasn’t breathing, that the strange substance painted across her dress probably had something to do with the blood leaking from his throat, that you could only pray she hadn’t come here for you – was to scream.
You covered your mouth as quickly as you could, but it was too late. Yor snapped in your direction, letting the dead man fall to the ground as she turned to face you. Suddenly, as those prying crimson eyes met yours, the hallway between you and her didn’t feel as long as it had, a moment ago, the threat she presented less psychological and more immediate, more physical. Yor seemed to recover from her bloodlust before you managed to pull yourself out of your shock; her eyes widening as she took a step towards you, then another, tucking her weapon into her belt as she approached you slowly, as if her pace would be what scared you away.
And, to her credit, you didn’t move. It was one thing to dread running into your clingy neighbor in an unused wing of an opera house on the other side of town, another entirely to see that same neighbor strangling a man to death. It was all you could do to remind yourself to breathe, to try and fail to stop yourself from shaking as she came to stand in front of you. There was an airy sigh, a quick shake of her head, then her blood-stained hands came up to cup your face, to tilt your head back and force you to acknowledge her adoring stare, the tentative grin tugging at the corner of her lips – not entirely dissimilar to the expression she wore as she forced you out of your peaceful seclusion.
“What are you doing here, sweetheart?” she asked, in the same gentle tone she used when Anya got into a fight with one of her classmates, when Loid came home with bags under his eyes and only half the energy it would’ve taken to stumble to bed. “I thought you were supposed to be staying home, tonight.”
Did you? You didn’t remember that. Then again, you couldn’t remember much of anything beyond this, beyond the feeling of Yor’s warmth seeping into your cheek, the sight of her looming above you. Had she always been so tall? She couldn’t have been. If it’d always been so clear just how easily she would be able to overpower you, you would’ve moved to the other side of the country the day she and her awful husband moved in.
You didn’t respond, but Yor didn’t seem to care. “It’s alright,” she went on, as if that would be enough to stop your knees from buckling underneath you, as if that would be enough to stop you from running for your life as soon as you remembered how to move your legs. “I’ll have this cleaned up in a few minutes. Then, we can spend the rest of the night together.”
She bowed her head, ducking low enough for her lips to brush against the top of your head and linger there.
She didn’t get a chance to pull away before your legs gave out and the world around you went dark.
~
Yor’s first instinct was, of course, to catch you, smiling as your body went limp and collapsed into her arms.
Her second, rather belatedly, was to remember that she was still very much in the middle of a mission and think that maybe, just maybe, she should stage your little reunion somewhere other than her crime scene.
It helped that her time alone with you was cut short before she could let you distract her, again. For as adorable as she’d found it, your scream had drawn more than a little unwanted attention; she could already hear a rush of footsteps only a few hundred feet away, five or so civilians she didn’t have the clearance to dispose of. With a small frown, a disappointed sigh, she took you into her arms and found somewhere to stow you away – a cramped, forgotten dressing room, left neglected by those responsible for its upkeep. She didn’t bother trying to turn on the lights, relying on her limited sight to find a dust-coated vanity and lean you against a cracked mirror she could only hope wouldn’t cut you. She wouldn’t know what to do with herself if you got hurt because of her carelessness.
Even unconscious, it was clear you were already in distress. Your breathing was uneven, ragged, and she could practically feel your heart beating as she pressed her ear to your chest, even if she was glad to know it was beating at all. She’d let rose-colored joy tinge your greeting, but she now that she thought about it, Yor could remember how shocked you’d looked to see her, how shaken the sight of so much blood had left you. Oh, poor thing. She couldn’t begin to imagine how scared you must’ve been.
She couldn’t begin to imagine how scared you still were. With her head still resting against your chest, she felt you start to stir, shifting underneath her as your own restlessness brought your brief respite to an abrupt end. Your hands – still shaking, much to Yor’s shame – rose to her shoulders, shoving her away gently as you attempted to speak for the first time since you’d run into each other. “P-please, I need—Please, don’t—”
The footsteps were closer, now, a small collection of vaguely masculine voices coming into earshot. Her hand was around your throat in a moment, her palm forced over your mouth in another. You let out a panicked, muffled shriek, and Yor did what she could to hush you, to comfort you. You looked like you could use some comfort, right now.
“I know, I know, it’s scary,” she started, doing her best to keep her voice down, to make sure her hold on your throat wasn’t too tight, that she wasn’t pressing too hard on anything you couldn’t live without. It’d be a shame to accidentally snap your neck, or worse – choke you until you passed out for the second time that day. Even you wouldn’t forgive her for something like that. “Please, try to stay with me. We just have to wait until the commotion dies down, then I can explain what’s going on.”
Her excuses did little to soothe you. Her heart broke as you kicked and struggled, your nails biting into her wrist and thick, warm tears soon flooding down your cheeks. In any other situation, the sight would’ve brought her to hysterics too, but she couldn’t, she had to be strong for you. Catching her with her mark must’ve left you more off-kilter than she’d thought. You weren’t just startled, you were terrified – no, worse than that, you were irrational, past the point of anything Yor could think to say. You were—
You were hysterical.
The phrase rose up from a half-remembered conversation she’d had with Loid weeks ago, after she commented on how cutely your voice shook and wondered aloud if you were always so nervous, if there was anything they would be able to do to help you lower your guard. It was only a passing thought, an ill-advised suggestion, something he’d mumbled about in a state of exhaustion and refused to mention again after a full night’s rest. Pelvic massages, he’d called them, an outdated treatment administered to women experiencing fits of extreme emotion. Often administered without consent, let alone proper documentation.
‘Outdated’, Loid had called it, but he never said ‘ineffective’.
Yor took a deep breath, steeling herself. She tightened her hold on your throat until each shallow breath took every last drop of your concentration. Only when she was sure you didn’t have the oxygen to cry out did she let her palm fall away from your mouth – taking to the space between your thighs, instead. “I’m going to help you,” she whispered, more for herself than for you. “Just… just let me do this for you, please.”
Her voice shook as she found the hem of your dress. Thankfully, your skirt had pooled around your thighs when she set you on the vanity, meaning she’d only just started to blush by the time she’d dragged it up to your waist. She tried to think about how Loid would handle this, about how he would handle you, but nervous static overwhelmed her more rational thoughts the moment her fingertips made contact with your panties, already damp where the fabric pressed against your slit. That was good. A doctor would’ve thought that was good, surely.
Yor couldn’t help but think that it was great – just how quickly you’d gotten wet for her.
She slipped too fingers underneath the thin material, pulling it to the side. In response, you let out a noiseless whine, only identifiably by the slight reverberation of your throat against her palm, and tried to shut your legs, to stop her from helping you. She worked a knee between your legs before they could close completely, forcing your thighs apart and finding your clit with her thumb, eager to prove how useful she could be before you tried to shut her out again. Admittedly, she wasn’t the most experienced caretaker you could’ve had, but she tried to picture the anatomical models she’d seen in Loid’s study, to think of the way she touched herself when she had a excuse to let herself into your apartment, when she was surrounded by things that smelled like you and unable to hold herself back. Slowly, carefully, she started to circle the bundle of nerves with the pad of her thumb, mindful not to hurt you or leave you feeling neglected, unloved.
When you bucked against her, she only held you more securely. Soon, her chin rested on your shoulder, quiet coos and words of comfort falling past her lips as she slid two fingers into your pussy and scissored them apart, savoring how you clenched around her. You weren’t in a relationship (she would’ve noticed if you were, would’ve made sure no one else got close enough to hurt you), and while she wasn’t sure how often you… how often you took care of yourself, it couldn’t have been often enough. All she had to do was curl her fingers, flick her wrist, pay a little attention to your clit, and you were practically melting around her. As your slick began to drip down the inside of your thighs, she added a third digit, and your body stiffened underneath her touch, a pair of hands shooting up and taking hold of her shoulders. You really were adorable, she thought, as your nails bit into her skin. You really did need her.
It took more than a little strength to remember why she was doing this, to keep herself from leaning into your affection and keep her pace steady, her tempo constant. The most self-indulgence she allowed herself was a stolen kiss to the curve of your neck, right above the point where her hand wrapped around your throat, then another to your collarbone, a satisfied hum escaping despite her best efforts when she realized you were wearing the low-cut dress she and Loid had gotten for you, last time you accompanied them on a day-long shopping trip. Still, it wasn’t enough to stop her heart from skipping a beat as you stiffened, as your pulse raced underneath her palm and the walls of your pussy convulsed around her fingers. Your mouth fell open, but she managed to keep any sound you might’ve made silent as she brought you to your first climax; your orgasm gentle, but intense enough for her to draw out for minutes before it ended and left you limp, clearly exhausted. Your eyes flickered up, meeting hers in a wordless plea to stop, but she couldn’t afford to be soft with you, not when your own well-being was at stake. Not when you so clearly needed her help.
Tearing a strip of material from the ringed collar of her dress, she pushed an apologetic kiss into the corner of your lips and fastened the makeshift choker around your neck, tight enough to keep you quiet, tight enough to make sure you’d have that pretty, glassy-eyed look for just a few minutes longer. She couldn’t hear the civilians anymore, but then again, she couldn’t hear much of anything over the sound of her own heart beating in her hears as she kneeled in front of you, her hands keeping your thighs spread open as she buried her face between your thighs, mouth latching onto your dripping pussy as if by instinct. Attempting to think about what was medically necessary, what was best for your health was beyond her, now, as her tongue lapped over your entrance, as she tasted you for the first time and found pure euphoria between your thighs. For all the joy she felt, she wasn’t surprised. She’d always known you’d be the sweetest thing she ever tasted.
Any noise you might’ve made was quickly replaced by the slick noise of sucking, lapping, savoring. It was messy, not as calculated as she wanted to pretend to be or as tender as it had been whenever she imagined your first time together, but Yor’s best traits had always lied with her passion, her brute strength, and it only took seconds for you to let out a breathy, muffled sob of a moan, to grind stiltedly into her mouth as she swallowed down everything you had to give her. This time, she didn’t attempt to pull away, to act like she could let that much distance form between you and her. Loid had called it a treatment, right? No, it wasn’t a question, she was sure – this was supposed to be a treatment.
And, as far as Yor could tell, that meant she’d have to help you until you were completely, entirely, absolutely better.
No matter how many hours it took to cure you, she wouldn’t leave your side until you’d made a full recovery.

ok controversial opinion but. although spy x family and buddy daddies appear to have a lot in common (traumatized hitmen acquire a child etc etc) i really don’t think they should be compared. yor & loid, despite rushing into a marriage of convenience, are both pretty decently equipped to act as parental figures despite their unconventional backgrounds. yor has the experience of practically raising yuri from a very young age, and loid’s jack-of-all-trades spy career and general hyper competent personality means they’re able to handle anya and the whole sudden family situation better than your average single, childless, late-20s(?) adult. of course they still face a lot of bumps in the road/have a lot to learn, but what they do know from their respective lives and occupations definitely helps, and let’s not forget that anya is a whole telepath.
kazuki and rei, on the other hand, have absolutely ZERO parental qualifications. it’s pretty obvious both of them have lived through their fair share of tragedy, with kazuki and his presumed dead wife and rei and his brutal childhood, but they’re also just. really messy people individually. kazuki is shown to regularly hang around gambling houses/the red light district and rei is a wet sock of a man when not in uniform. miri is your typical 4 year old: wildly energetic, no filter, constantly making a mess, requires attention at all times, and so on. unlike anya, she cannot read the minds of those around her, which means the only way she knows how to “help” her papas is by unhelpfully inserting herself into whatever tasks they’re trying to complete (and if you’ve been around small children, this is super typical behavior). she means well but she often inconveniences rei and kazuki’s already precarious lifestyle. and frankly, that pretty much sums up the early years of parenthood.
kids are a lot of work. raising a child, even when you’re a “normal,” well-adjusted adult is really tough. but it’s supposed to be fulfilling, and it’s supposed to be something that parents view as “worth it.” we can’t really blame miri’s mom for resenting her so much when she never wanted to be a mom in the first place (and it’s clear she’s not suited to it, either). kazuki’s argument with miri’s mom demonstrates that his concept of parenthood is pretty idealistic, although not incorrect. kazuki may like the idea of protecting a child’s happiness, but he doesn’t realize the difficulty of the logistics involved, which we see in the daycare episode. we also see in the daycare episode that rei has no clue what a traditional childhood looks like. it’s implied he never went to school and doesn’t really understand how children usually act.
kazuki and rei are arguably much less qualified than yor and loid to be parents, and therefore the buddy daddies family dynamic is going to be way more dysfunctional in a way that viewers may find bordering annoying rather than comically chaotic (i’ve read the crunchyroll comments). the same goes for miri, who is your average run of the mill small child, and not some super kawaii esper. but kazuki and rei are trying their best, in their own ways, and it’s clear that miri is going to brighten up their lives in really touching ways. so buddy daddies is definitely still worth a watch, especially if you already enjoy spy x family, but people should keep in mind that buddy daddies is not the “ripoff” of spy x family i’ve seen people say.

Yor and Anya
Sometimes I think about how, even though Yor thinks she is the substitute parent in their family, to the telepathic Anya, she is the realest parent this girl has.
Because while Yor, like Loid, agreed to be part of this family as a cover, in her belief that Loid and Anya are a widower and his daughter, she is determined to do right by them. While Loid is also catching feelings for his family, he is also extremely mission-focused, occasionally still thinking about how this family is temporary.
But for Yor, however much she might have agreed to get married as a cover and sees her relationship with Loid as fake, in her relationship with Anya, she is absolutely sincere and doing her best to be a good stepmother without overstepping her boundaries.
Yor is the one who breaks with decorum and rushes to Anya's side during the interview. Yor is the one who cares so much about Anya's happiness that she gently suggests to Loid that pushing her to do better in school might not be for the best.
Anya is hugely attached to Loid, and idolizes his lifestyle in a way that she does not idolize Yor's. When she reads their minds about their work, most often she gets excited by Loid's and horrified by Yor's. Anya chose Loid to be her parent, and while she also basically chose Yor, it was, I think, because she already had one parent who was a spy that an assassin coparent also looking for a cover struck her as a good idea. There is some truth to Yor's idea that Loid is the primary parent and she is the secondary, though not for the reasons she believes.
But at the end of the day, Yor is the one who brings them together and turns them into a family, rather than a comedy of errors about a spy who accidentally ended up saddled with a telepath fake-daughter.
As far as Loid is concerned, neither Anya nor Yor know his true motivations, but he is very focused on the mission. If Anya were not a telepath and did not know what was going on, I would be concerned for her—but that's not the story, and we don't know how she would have behaved to be pushed and pushed to excel at this stuffy, not-very-compassionate school. What we do know is that Yor, who is in practice the only one who does not know about the mission, sees this and speaks up.
And Loid listens to her. He sees the truth of her advice, and also as he calms down, he realizes how hard Anya is trying to please him.
I love this family, all of them. But I have a special place in my heart for Yor. For the way that even though she thinks she is the odd one out, using a real family as a cover, in practice she is the one who brings them together, by treating them as a family more than a mission.
No one in this family could really be called the lynchpin, since all of them are crucial parts to making it work the way that it does. I love the hilarity of the fact that Anya, of all people, is the one with the best sense of what's going on, and I ache for her that she is too frightened of people's reactions to learning about her telepathy to seek help when there is a crisis, and feels she must try to fix everything all by herself. And the love that Yor offers Anya, I feel, is a salvation that Anya does not yet know she needs.

i need to see loid just completely and utterly in love with yor.
give me loid seeing yor in a pretty dress and he cant even speak because of how beautiful she is. he tries to compliment her but messes up, stutters and trips over his words, and embarrasses himself. he just thinks shes so beautiful that he cant even keep up his ‘smooth loid forger’ spy act because of how perfect she is to him.
give me loid listening to yor hum to herself whilst she cleans up, just watching as she does the dishes or folds the laundry, with the softest and fondest smile on his face. bond giving him the side eye smirk like that scene in tangled where flynn is watching rapunzel and maximus the horse grins at him and gets shoved away, just like that.
give me loid seeing yor interact with and care for anya, feeling so lucky that it was yor he met in the shop, it was yor who he chose to marry. anya giggling because all her papa can think about is her mama and anyas just listening to him think about how beautiful and perfect and amazing her mama is.
loid braving through her awful cooking and trying each new meal that she makes, just so he can see the smile on her face when he tells her that shes getting better at it, then cooking alongside her, teaching her tricks and tips that he knows and helping her improve little by little.
first kiss post reveal and he has to reassure her that its real and he’s doing it because he loves her, him feeling so incredibly guilty because he knows that her hesitance and disbelief is his fault because he lied about everything and she was truly the only one of the three who thought everything aside from their fake marriage was real. him apologising to her a million and one times, doing everything he can to make it up to her and prove that he really is in love with her, and its not for any mission at all. he just loves her.
post reveal loid and yor working together, loid just hanging back as he watches his super badass wife take out an entire group of men all by herself, just in absolute awe of how powerful she is.
as much as i love yor being smitten by loid, theres just something so soft and beautiful about loid, someone who has had to lock away all his feelings and emotions, someone who has only ever used people in “relationships”, someone who can never be his real self, falling for someone who he wants to do everything for, for real. he wants to take yor out for real, he wants to kiss her for real, he wants to love her for real. he wants to do all the silly little mundane domestic chores with her for real just because he loves her. he wants to be real for her.
loid being so so in love with yor and the little life theyve built together, that he doesnt ever want it to end.

I think the thing I’m most excited for (and what I hope actually gets explored) in Spy x Family isn’t so much the drama of the secrets being revealed - I’m excited for what comes after.
Imagine that sort of awkward transition stage where everyone is getting used to this new normal. Loid and Yor are tiptoeing around each other, not really sure what to make of their partner who has been lying their ass off the whole time. They’re both kinda mad about it, but also can’t really find too much fault because they’ve been doing the same thing themselves. Imagine a montage of all the Not Normal things both of them are guilty of and the both of them having a “ooooohhh that makes more sense now” moment.
But then treading into angsty territory: say their missions align or something and they have to work through the fact that their partner is not a civilian. Loid constantly ordering Yor to get back and take cover, throwing his arm up to shield her, but then Yor ducks around him and takes down, like, ten armed guys before he can even blink. Yor having a mini war in her head between Yor Forger and the Thorn Princess, because the Thorn Princess has a damn job to do but Yor Forger is constantly fretting about Loid and what he must think of her and if she’s still a good mom for Anya when she just skewered a grunt’s head so hard his skull exploded. It results in neither of them being on top of their game and eventually having to work through their issues before succeeding (maybe whilst tied up back to back in a holding cell or something).
But then there’s this sort of relief? For Loid especially, because suddenly it’s not just him protecting this family. He knew Yor was good at keeping Anya safe, but before it was as an insanely lucky civilian who’s very good at “yoga”. Now… He knows that it would take something monumental to take Yor down. Anything less than that and she’s walking away covered in blood that’s not hers. There’s this sense of safety that starts to bubble up, which is strange, because it should be the opposite. Yor’s one of the most dangerous assassins in the country - hell in both countries - and yet Agent “I don’t trust anyone” Twilight has complete faith in her.
Meanwhile, Yor’s feeling more validated in months because even after learning Loid/Twilight’s biggest secret…he’s still here. He didn’t just pack up and leave in the middle of the night the way spies do whenever they are compromised. And he learned about her and yet he stayed. He included her in on his schemes. And suddenly living together is just…so much easier. She doesn’t have to sneak out in the middle of the night or hide her injuries. She doesn’t feel ashamed any time her incredible strength slips through. She doesn’t feel like she has to lie to everyone - she has Loid to talk to now. She’s never had someone who knows but who also isn’t a Garden agent themselves. And with him being a spy there’s a level of understanding of the job that makes it really easy to be open about it. Probably to a worrying degree, but Yor trusts Loid with her life despite him being a foreign spy.
And then there’s the question of the degree at which the secret’s out. Do they know about Anya? Does Anya know? (Or more specifically, do they know that Anya knows?) (Anya comes home one day and overhears them talking about spy/assassin stuff and after months of being exhausted trying to help them keep both secrets she just sighs really loudly, “FINALLY!” Only to then be questioned on how she knew.) Would Yuri or Franky find out? Garden or WISE? But it would be fun in there’s a little while where the family knows about each other, the three (four including Bond) having a wonderful little stretch of time where the first true test of their trust for each other is passed with flying colours. (Enough for a Stella Star, even!)

twiyor eden au headcanons 📚
• [redacted] adopted the name loid after imigrating to ostania with his mother, partly for assimilation reasons and partly because he wanted a fresh start. his mother changed her name as well so he wouldn't feel alone in that.
• loid achieved the highest score in eden's admission tests to date. there was quite a bit of opposition to him joining the prestigious school, but ultimately it was decided that a flow of students between both countries could be a good step toward peace. that's how the characters from westalis are accepted into eden.
• yor is not particularly academically gifted, but she's insanely physically gifted. an increasing number of sports trophies in eden's trophy room are only there because yor was part of the team. she excels at sports.
• no one really wants to approach a guy from westalis first and loid isn't particularly talkative. he keeps mostly to himself—until this girl in class speaks to him. apparently, the teacher paired them together for class. not that loid hears her at first, too fixated thinking she'sprettyshe'sreally pretty. they finish their activity without any issues, and yor admits that she's been wanting to approach him for weeks because he looked lonely on his own.
• franky is in a different class, fiona is his junior, and sylvia is his senior.
• yor herself doesn't have many friends (and the ones she does have aren't all that nice to her), so she can empathize with loid. while loid himself didn't feel lonely, he finds yor quite pleasant to be around. they quickly grow close.
• loid's favorite subjects are history and literature. yor's favorite subjects are pe and arts.
• yor's parents aren't home a lot of the time. she ends up going to loid's mom for advice/help.
• i've never had those so i'm not sure what they're called, but you know those classes where students learn how to take care of a household (as in, doing cooking, finance management, etc)? so, that's where loid finds out just how terrible yor is at cooking. he exchanges their dishes so she won't get scolded by their teacher. yor gets quite emotional about it and vows to do better.
• it's not uncommon for loid to bring cookies he's baked to yor. since they can't eat them during classes, they try to be subtle about it. it turns out they're great at being sneaky.
• yor's grades start improving after spending time with loid. in turn, loid is not as stressed anymore. they balance each other out.
• when he starts thinking of yor in a less platonic way, he does absolutely nothing about it. it's yor that holds his hand first. she pulled her hand away in 0.2 seconds, but she did it! he becomes a little braver after that. not much though. he might get kicked. it happened to some guy that confessed to yor, or so he heard.
• he thinks he might kiss yor during a summer school festival, but she almost passes out after eating from the same spoon as him.
• high-school age loid has real beef with middle-school age yuri. it's a little embarrassing for him.

Seems like this chapter just about wrapped up the Mole Hunt arc. I decided to analyze a bit more than I usually do with my chapter reviews since there was a lot to talk about on the Twiyor front!
When Fiona questioned Twilight about not killing Yuri, he gave his official "for the mission" reason, but slipped up by calling Yor "Yor-san" instead of "Yor Briar." This made it obvious to Fiona (who already knows about him softening) that he's trying desperately hard to cover up those feelings. Even though this would have been a good opportunity for her to imply that she's a better fit for the wife role, she doesn't even try because she knows Twilight would defend "Yor-san" in every subtle way he could.
Tumblr media
When he gets home and finds out that Yor doesn't actually have gripes with him, he's relieved of that last load of stress and is finally able to relax, causing him to collapse (similar to the very first chapter when he collapsed after Anya passed the Eden entrance exam). After he realizes how utterly exhausted he is, he can't help but ask Yor to help out with his housework.
Tumblr media
Her reply is what really makes everything sink in for him - despite all his attempts to be a flawless spy, she doesn't want him to be that way. She's happy when she can be useful to him and thinks it's bad if he pushes himself to be perfect all the time.
Tumblr media
And yet, that's exactly what he has to be in order to survive as a spy. The fact that he had to ask someone for help with simple housework, plus someone telling him that he doesn't have to be perfect, made him recall the feeling he had when he looked into Wheeler's eyes...that he lives in a world where you have to be perfect in order to survive, and having any kind of weakness just won't due.
Tumblr media
While Twilight continues to be clueless about Fiona's feelings for him among other things, what he does realize at the end of this arc is his own feelings - that he does have a weakness. He's beginning to understand more than ever that a spy can't afford to be anything but perfect. And yet, his refusal to kill Yuri, which is a result of him caring about Yor (even though he gave Fiona his usual "for the mission" reason, she saw right through it) is conflicting him even more.
I also have to point out how considerate Yor was of Loid's exhaustion - she completely pushed Yuri away, even after noticing he was injured. She didn't even invite him to stay and have tea with them!
Tumblr media
What Twilight was about to say to Yor (in his mind) before Yuri interrupted is debatable, but going by his previous line of thought, it was probably something bittersweet like "which is why...once Operation Strix is over, I'll have to leave the Forgers" or possibly something more immediate, where he now realizes how compromised he truly is and so might reconsider the stipulations of Operation Strix even before it's over. Though I think it's more of the former since his thoughts in the shower in the next scene make it seem like he's not ready to do anything drastic yet, but the idea is still gnawing at him.
Tumblr media
Fiona had noticed his leaking emotions way back when she was first introduced, but this is the first time Twilight himself is realizing it and not denying it. Whether anything major will change in his actions from now on is yet to be seen. Will there be another aftermath chapter or two with Twilight still being jostled by this realization? Or will things go back to normal now and he'll brush those feelings aside for another day? It seems like Yuri has been totally thrown off the scent, so his identity should be safe for the time being. Will Anya get to read his mind the next morning and finally find out everything that happened? The next new chapter won't be out for another 4 weeks, so brace yourself for a grueling wait!
