What I don't understand is why Lorelai Lee wasn't 100% sold into the Via Imperii ideals and beliefs? Hana's parents were social climbers and major classists. They looked down on people who weren't born in a rich family or didn't have connections that they believed were useful. So why didn't Lorelai believe in the Via Imperii's beliefs that the ruling class were better than the common born?
I believe that it was all about control for Lorelai. She didn't want to relinquish control of her daughter to anyone, and that was why she took off. Also pb desperately wanted to make a group of strangers look worse than Hana's abusive parents, but that's just my opinion.
“Almost There” visual development by Sue Nichols, animation style test by Lorelay Bove & Joe Pitt, and Pencil test by Hyun-min Lee.
Disney is a collaborative place. Despite her impact on Almost There, Nichols didn’t make it herself. It took a team to have her beautiful concept art realized in motion ˣ
i just think when it comes to post-house esp hospital moments, how virginia would have been right there for every single one of those kiddos until someone came to be by their bedside. and if no one did? then well she's parking herself with them, then. how she'd take the time to help explain to them, their parents, etc whatever procedures they were about to have done so it wasnt as scary, if they were awake enough prior to getting them. how, sure, she ma not know every little thing about nursing and all but she can sure as hell call the drs or nurses out when they behave dismissively towards them and their pain or injuries. how she goes into mama lioness mode for each of them if theyre being crowded by police or reporters in, or out, of the hospital and scolds the absolute hell out of them all for harassing them when they need to heal. literally like how fucking dare you listen to these kids now, demanding answers now, when all you lost did was brush them off before it came to any of this. where the fuck were you all before?
and how, flip-side, mama flores is so heartbroken for them all. she barely has the strength to have gotten herself to the hospital and the stress of seeing them all in those states does Nothing Good for her but by god is she so furiously upset with the adults around them all. catch her a sobbing mess near-screaming at the officers for doing absolutely fuck all this entire time, cursing them for not looking for her little girl so that these kids didnt feel like they werent being listened to and take off to do their jobs themselves. her daughter is dead or missing, she almost lost another - and both bc the fucking sheriffs reporters etc didnt do their jobs properly to find maria. and now look? these poor kids are all in absolute messes, on deaths door, and you're in there harassing them and dismissing what they went through as some wild party in the desert gone wrong or something? her heart is an open wound for each of them and theres so much love in her that they had cared for maria so dearly to have gone looking for her but shes so torn apart at the states they returned home in.
Okay, so I have a few thoughts after watching the first few episodes of Mrs Maisel and I would really love @stellaluna33 @sagesfandomspot @butchjess @parisgellergf @thegreatwars to chime in, cause what I'm about to say may be unpopular or a little controversial:
Spoilers Ahead if you haven't watched the S5 premiere of Mrs Maisel!!!
So, as we all know: Stephanie Hsu aka Mei Lin, is officially out of the Maisel narrative and here's how she was written out:
She has officially moved to Chicago for her residency, she (presumably- it was hinted at) ended her pregnancy and broke up with Joel.
So, from an interview with ASP and Dan Palladino, this is what she quoted about Mei:
“[She] was brought in for a hot blast [to knock] Joel off of his axis [and] out of the Midge world, she also represent[ed] the next generation of women that would be coming up after Midge, who might be thinking a little ahead of the game, like, ‘Maybe before I get married and have kids, I’m gonna accomplish this.’ Midge was a little late for that. She fell into her ambition. Stephanie was playing those girls in the 60s who are, like, ‘I’ve seen my mom’s way, and maybe I’m going to do it a slightly different way.'”
Another quote from Dan Palladino was:
“We wanted to show Joel with a woman who was even more independent than Midge was. Midge embraced the Betty Crocker myth; Mei did not. So [her] pregnancy [teed up] an inevitable conclusion [for the character].”
So, I was thinking and I know it's controversial but-
What if Rory could have that same thing?
Everyone has assumed that Rory will follow in her mother's footsteps, become a single mom and thrive in a career, but that doesn't have to necessarily be the same.
The fact is that Rory had more support than Lorelai when she got pregnant. And she's on the cusp of something, just like Mei. So she could and it's a big could, that she ends the pregnancy.
IMHO, what would be the bigger kick was if Rory miscarried- that would have even more hurtful effects than if she willingly terminated the pregnancy. Given Rory's character arc and personality, she would definitely take it hard and she would then try to bury her grief by burying herself into her career but then she could push away her family, and have zero interest in romantic relationships till she slowly starts growing out of that shell she went into in the later seasons of Gilmore Girls and AYITL, and also by opening up to, and in my perspective, someone like Jess, who she has a healthy platonic/romantic connection with; and this has to be of the opposite sex, I don't think Lorelai, Lane or Paris would help, given that they are moms and Rory would feel a pang of jealousy and sadness given that she may interpret the miscarriage as a mistake on her part and that it was the universe's way of saying that she's not cut out or fit to be a mom. In this way, she shrinks into Lorelai's shadow and this again amps up the drama.
Anyway, I like that ASP has these kinds of narrative parallels that are shocking but actually work- they are controversial, given that we are in a post Roe vs Wade conflict, but it's very realistic and understandable when you analyse it on a microscopic level.
To conclude, I would like to point out the central theme of Maisel's final season which is summarized in a single quote by Mei as well as the parallels that are set with Midge through the flashforwards of Esther, Ethan and Midge's future:
“I can’t have it all, Joel. If I’m really going to be a doctor then I have to be a doctor.”
And Midge in her 60 minutes interview saying:
"Lucky in life, unlucky in love."
So, it could be the same for Rory and what she chooses: being her mom (continuing what AYITL sets up) or forging her own path (Like Mei) or dealing with something that is her own individual trauma that no one has experienced and she has to deal with it firsthand.

Who else thought it was bull that Liam didn't name Hana as a duchess? She would make a far better duchess than mc, imo. In my hc, when Liam rewards MC with duchy Valtoria, he also rewarded Hana with a duchy of her own! The same duchy that House Aster owned centuries ago. I thought Hana was more Aster than Rosario and Everhart.
rules: list your ten favorite characters from ten separate fandoms, then tag ten people!
I was tagged by @tansyuduri @imagine-dragonlords @sugar-coated-prat-dragon I think that's everyone. Everyone really wants me to do this 🤣
Alright let me see if I can even come up with 10 fandoms...
Merlin (BBC Merlin)
Dean Winchester (supernatural)
Lorelai Gilmore (Gilmore Girls)
Sherlock Holmes (really any adaptation but my fave is from CBS elementary Jonny Lee Miller!!!)
Steve Rogers (marvel)
Elinor Dashwood (Sense and Sensibility...Jane austen is a fandom in my head. And in particular the book and the 1995 film. That's my favorite movie.)
Damon Salvatore (the vampire diaries)
Eric Forman (that 70s show)
Sugarpuss O'Shea (barbara stanwyck's character in ball of fire from 1941...the fandom I'm going with here is old hollywood in general and yes that was hard to choose only 1 character from lmao)
Penelope Featherington (Bridgerton) (or anything nicola does I love her 😍)
That was so hard because so many of my fandom consists of like real people lol like musicians, actors, and actresses. Would be way easier for me to list my fave people or to not limit it to only 1 person fandom like I could easily list an entire 10 from merlin alone 🤣
I have absolutely no idea who to tag because I've looked at people's posts and like everyone that I would tag has been tagged??? Or tagged me 🤣
The start of this week has been nothing short of incredible!! We've recieved such amazing work so far - loads of art, fanfic, edits and even a playlist!! Can't wait to see what else you all have up your sleeve 😍
Happy World Book Day to everyone!! Tomorrow, we will be celebrating Hana's love for books and exploring her tastes in reading! Becoming "well-read" was a skill her mother Lorelai insisted she cultivate, but it soon grew into a passion and in some ways a source of comfort for a lonely young Hana! It allowed her to give free rein to her imagination and conceive new worlds for herself!! So tomorrow we will celebrating Hana and her passion for reading!!
Our other theme this time is AU! The sky is the limit for this one. Imagine any alternative universe (whether just for herself or her with whoever you pair her with) and how Hana will respond to this environment!! Surprise us!
Any content is welcome!! Fanfic, fanart, edits, moodboards, interactive, media, headcanons, screenshots, playlists, meta...even screenshots of your favourite scenes would be great!! Our only requirement is that the content is centered on Hana, and that the depiction of her is positive. You can also send in WIPs in case you don't complete a work!
You can also send in a work on the days following a particular theme - this is no pressure for it to be put up exactly that day! We will also have an extra week for anyone who still needs time 💕 May 4th will be our final official date for entries (to incorporate into our video!) but HLAW will still be open for entries for the rest of the year until the next event!
You can find this year's full list of prompts here!
Be sure to do the following when you make your posts:
1. Use the tags #hanaleeappreciationweek and #HLAW in the tags (along with the day you made the post for - #HLAW Day 1, #HLAW Day 2 etc)
2. Tag @hanaleeappreciationweek, and hosts @lizzybeth1986 and @sazanes in your work!
